I used to have a cat many years ago, however its constant demand for food, the fact it kept going under my feet almost tripping me and killing me a couple of times and its general low intelligence annoyed me so much.

Once i was petting it on my lap and it attacked me and scratched me real bad for no reason (i started to bleed), i got so pissed i flung it across the room and it crash landed on the side of the fridge and into the floor it started to run away i chased it into the toilet, closed the door picked up the shower head, turn the tap full power and sprayed the cat with water, it kept running around the toilet screaming but i didn't stop spraying it with water until the cat stopped moving  :D

That day i decided that i'm not a cat person and its probably best that i never own cats ever.

I now have an awesome dog, German shep. Dogs are sooo much better, My Girlfriend loves my Shep and she takes him for walks every other day, you can never do that with a cat!

anyone else agree and have similar experiences ?

I have a cat. I was just cuddling it and then let it go, but it scratched my nipple with it's back paw's razor sharp nail. Still feeling the pain after 1 hour. This happened like 1 hour ago.

The pain was intolerable.

HOWEVER, still a cat person.

Something else I forgot to add was, my cat puked about three times in the span of 2 days. Twice on the bed and another today when I had gotten home.

I have a labrador  atm but i wish i can tame a Neapolitan Mastiff that's my fav dog !!!  :)

Wtf, you actual dick. You shouldnt fucking own pets if you think it's okay to throw an animal thats probably not even 1/20 the size of you across a room. That animal depends on you to survive, your it's carer, you wouldn't fling a child across a room just because it hit you in the face would you? The cat probably had got sick of the petting and you weren't observing its body movements telling you to stop so it attacked you.



No you can't take a cat for a walk or teach it as many tricks as a dog but why is that a reason to hate them? Most other pets you can get also don't do tricks or fuck all. People like you have no fucking respect for cats and thats why there's so many stories in the news of people killing cats by throwing them to hungry dogs or microwaving them (just 2 stories in the UK news recently). Also I'm not suggesting to the OP your like those sicko cat killer, but it just makes me sick thinking about how some people mistreat animals.

My cat scratches me a little bit, but she's still adorable.

I generally like cats, but my most recent one is a bit of a psychopath. He'll walk next to me, rub up against my legs, etc, and then when I pick him up to pet him, he starts biting me and won't let go unless I physically open his jaw.

My second most recent, and other current, cat, is a bit more relaxed and less violent. She reminds me a lot of Garfield.

Average domestic cats are not annoying, they are simply... wild. Just a downscaled versions of tiger or lion. If they were bigger there would be a lot casualties among the owners.

I never abused it or caused harm to it, It didn't die, it was struggling to move for a while but then it was running around a few hours later like nothing happened. As i said before, i also put it in a shoe box and dumped it outside a petstore the next day.

Cats like all other animals communicate with their owners.
The key point is to understand its communications (verbal , eye contact and body language). It's about the same with dogs, but a cat's signals are generally much more subtle and require attention to detail.
Plus, a cat doesn't really have "an owner" like a dog (the Alpha) - caretaker is more appropriate and everyone getting a cat into the house should know that ;)

If you misunderstand or ignore the communications, nothing bad will happen at first. The cat will clearly signal how it is doing.
Persistently ignoring the clear signals, however, can eventually end up in the animal breaking its way. If you attempt to force someting onto a cat, it will eventually respond with a similar reaction.

As opposed to obidient dogs, cats have a mind of their own - and they'll enforce that. They don't like or accept oppression and never look for or need an Alpha like a dog (this is often misinterpreted as "lack of loyality").

Although cats can do very stupid things (so do dogs), they're very cool animals.
But generally, unlike i.e. dogs they're animals that people can't simply pick up when they want/need it and stuff/command them away when they're done. Doesn't work that way.

IMHO when something goes unexpected or wrong between human and animal, 99% of the time it's the lack of attention or care of the human. Most of it comes from communcation failure and complete lack of situational awareness.
Understanding its language and respecting its needs (it's not a toy !) yields the best results. Then you'll find out they aren't nearly as dimwitted as many would think, but of course they're still animals.
Plus, sometimes I think the animals are smarter, more kind and generally better behaving than alot of humans. Usually I find animals are much more honest.
The sad truth is, alot of humans just aren't fit to have an animal companion for various reasons.

Above "rules of the road" basically apply to all animals. Learn the rules and you'll even get along with wild/free-living animals in nature with surprising results.

Cats can be really annoying i agree, its just the way they are and it depends on the cat. Cats are very susceptible to being abused due to their annoying behavior, my advise is if you feel Cats annoy you them simply don't get one.

Ive seen cats who are v calm, loyal and really dont bother anyone. I love cats but haven't owned one in a long time, i try to help stray cats when i can.

Wow you got such an experience with cat huh. Im not a pet person, but if I got a husky,then things might be different. And see, we dont have any kind of cat to be desired,while there're a bunch of kinds of dogs that people wanted,like husky,or sherman

I prefer dogs myself, cats tend to run away, while you can easily teach dog to walk by your side. Also cats can be really destructive in the house, they love to jump on things, bite cables and stuff.
As for the scratching, a lot of people clip their nails, you can do that with both cats and dogs, you should try this!

cats are cute, if you don't have to live with them. Almost like kids.

Other people's cats/kittens are the best.
If you start with a kitten and treat it well, then you can have a very nice pet.

Yeah they're different obviously, but the only reason your dog is willing to do that for you is because it's been selectively bred to have those certain characteristics. Cats are certainly not stupid. They may not have loyalty because they haven't been bred in the same way that dogs have, but they would certainly last a lot longer than a dog if they were abandoned. I like them because they are closer to a wild animal than a dog, and not dependant on their owners like all dogs are.

I like some dogs a lot too, generally big dogs like German Shepherds, Labradors, Huskys etc. But I really dislike small yappy dogs.

Yes my cat does the same, begs for food so i give some then she throws it all up, maybe she eats it too fast but i am tempted to scape it up and just put it back in the bowl for her next mean, she wouldn't notice would she?

My room-mate just got a chocolate lab puppy and it is infuriating.
It actually gets underneath your feet ALL THE TIME and then bumps into you non stop
and if it's not doing that it's jumping up on your over & over.
If i give it any attention for any amount of time it goes nuts.
It starts to roll around writhing in weird trying to get underneath me way.
It refuses to sit still for even 1 single second.

Teh2nd dog my room-mate has is the same just way older..
It's fine and listens and is easy to deal with but both stink like hell.
I have to wash my hands after touching them.
And both of them shit all over the damn yard then i step in it..
I never had a cat that was shitting all over the place.

I had a similar story as you eh.
A buddy of mien got me a kitten he said was basicaly a stray cat in a friends alley.
It really had a wild streak in it and did not like to be pet or handled.
I had tried to teach it to sit with people and allow it to be pet but it had little patience for that.
I rented a house on a farm with a variety of animals and started letting it outside
eventually it ran away or something.. didn't care it was a jerk cat LOL

Growing up though i had a Persian cross Manx cat that was super friendly and ultra smart and gorgeous!
White with blue eyes and it understood a huge amount of English.
Sit, walk, stop, outside, shit, eat, attack.. it got it all no problem.
I had heavy duty gloves i would play with it so it could get it's claws out and shred my glove hand
sort of like an attack dog.. and not once over the years of doing that did i have a problem getting it to stop.
It would be fighting for it's life in raw hate like a beast then 1 pat on the head and it would stop.
If i said attack and pointed at a person it would throw it's ears back and trot side ways at the person.
Some time sit wanted to play and it would tap your feat when you walked by ..like once.
the cat was ultra smart and thought it was people and apart of the family.
And it was until i moved into a house where the Landlord had put rat poison in the basement.
I guess it was not that smart i thought watching it die in agony foaming at the mouth
as it's insides were destroyed by cyanide etc.. SPCA took a LONG time to come over.. and get the dead cat.

It had a better ending though.. a couple years before that i had my female cat bread
with my grand mothers prized Jet Black pure Persian male cat..
This produced a small litter of kittens that were in high demand and were good looking and pretty smart too.

It depends on the cat.. all winter long i had the neighbors cat come over. (owner was a trucker out of town lots)
And it was smart.. it would tap once on my door to knock then it would meow once
and walk me to the door to get out.. it also loved to hang out with people and get pet's and attention.
But it never bugged us most times it just wanted to sit on the couch and nap LOL

I had 4 cats and 1 of it is very loyal to me it follows me everytime I walk around our street. And when I sit she also sits on my lap.

Cats are adorable creatures to me so I'd never attack or kill them. They really are sweet. I remember Tara the house cat that saved the family son's life from a neighbor's dog. It was incredible.

I know many people keeps their pets in small spaces, in in small apartments. This is wrong and hygiene is very low and everything have certain smell i dont like this..
Only if you have house with garden or backyard i can encourage you to keep animals. Animals are living beings and need lot of attentions, like kids. They will return with love and even if they don't have attention but this is cruel.

In India,if you kill a cat,it brings bad luck and curse to rest of your life.Its a taboo.To make up for a killed cat,you are suppose to make a cat of gold of the same weight.People have made cats of gold ranging from 1 kg to 3 kg's.

I love cats. I have one at home and she knows where to pee and poop. She was trained so we don't have problems with her at all. She's cuddle and sweet. She likes to "meow" a lot. LOL. She likes sleeping in the bathroom floor, I guess that's one of the coldest place in the house since it's summer. When I get home, you can see her waiting in the front door and wrap his tail around my legs. Cute and sweet. :)

I love cats. I too love dogs. My cat loves to cling by my legs because he is looking for warmness. He detects danger more than I can. But I guess cats are more intelligent than dog at some aspect. Cats can look for food without asking for your help. Most dogs can't survive without your welfare that is why I love them too. The are someone whom you must care and in exchange they will bring joy too you. Oppositely, you have to do efforts before they give their trust but they are loyal too like dogs if you work hard.

I do love dogs. I have a dog and love her very much all my friends, but that does not mean that cats are bad. It is correct to say they are different. The attachment to animals depends on the mentality. Those people who are more love at home usually prefer cats.

I consider cats animals that shouldn't be pet, well considered. They can take care of them damn good.

People who are blaming cats for being aggressive, come on, cats are descended from Felids, just like Lions, Tigers, Cougars, etc. They shouldn't be domesticated, they are hunters. And people who keep praising dogs for being much better, at least cats are less noisy, not like some all-day all-night barking dogs.

I agree with you, especially with the last line. That's true especially for the people that managed to domesticate a cat that is really unruly. You can't really blame them if you just want it to follow you. One more thing that I love about cats, they are not stinky compared to a dog. Dogs are really stinkier and they don't know how to clean themselves.

i used to have a cat which i got from a roadside witch near my village. it used to pee in my mouth daily night and i used to spit it during brush the next day.

Once when i was sleeping, this time it did not just pee it pood in my mouth...the poo was so heavy about more than 1 kg i guess and all i got angry on my cat and i went poo in its mouth too.

Both got into fight. it took a knife and tried to attack me and i took ak-47 and fired a round of 50 bullets into her chest

after that we took her to the ICU where she was declared dead after being struggled for 5 days with oxygen pump.

really i miss her these days there is no pee in my mouth i feel so dry.

Cats are the coolest animals ever! Those who hate them but love dogs instead often do so simply because they are so insecure that they need a servile being close to them, someone with not much personality who will simply mirror back to them their own emotions. Cats are fundamentally free
creatures with a life of their own and you need to respect that. Living with a cat is somewhat similar to living with your partner with whom you need to negotiate and respect each other's space.  Some people are put off by that and dismiss cats as selfish beings. The truth is they're every bit as loyal as dogs but you just need to earn it. It's not handed to you in advance on a silver plate. Purrrr....!

I think that cats are more independent than dogs, that are more tender.

I used to find them really anoying, never trusted them and was kind of scared to get close to one since they could jump at me anytime and attack me. (Those treacherous beings). But then my girlfriend got one, and the feline little friend began to gain my trust. It does do certain annoying things like some peculiar loud noices when it's in it's days, it likes to scratch my legs so that it can get to my lap... and so on and so forth, but it certainly made me see that cats aren't that bad at all

I don't find them annoying. However, they aren't my favorite animals and dogs are a lot better. Although, my favorite pets have to be hamsters or small fluffy animals. They are the best.

Selfish animals (most).

We have four cats and they are so adorable. In general, cat is not annoying for me. What I like about cats is that they do not stink unlike dogs. They can clean themselves, and catches mouse which, especially, helps. What I don't like about dogs is their loud barking that really annoys me.

I don't have a particular interest in cats, but I find them okay. Nothing against. They look a bit lazy sometimes and almost always gets out of the way of most things, so all good ;D

Cats are just plain scary. They're very hard to read unlike dogs that are constantly friendly. It's really annoying when they let younfeel love for a little bit and then be devil in the next. They'll sonstantly scratch you with razor sharp claws. Nonetheless, I still love animals and still respect all forms of life, including cats.

The most annoying things about cat is

Bladder walking -
When you’re just starting to wake up, your cat senses it, and promptly begins walking back and forth across your lower abdomen. At that point you realize that you need to go to the bathroom OMG RIGHT NOW! this is so annoying.
   
Glasses schmutzing -
Cats loves nothing more than rubbing her nose all over the glasses to prove her love.
   
Arm draping-
One of my friend have three cats. All three of cats enjoy this particular sport. It begins with a nose pushed under the quilt, to which he respond by lifting the blanket. Their response to this is supposed to be to push themselves further under the blanket and snuggle up next to my chest, but half the time he end up holding the bed linens up while all the precious body heat I’ve accumulated since parking myself under the blankets dissipates into the cool winter air. The other half of the time they crawl right under and make themselves comfortable by making biscuits (with their nice, sharp claws) on my thin pajamas.

It depends on the character of the cat. Couple years ago we got really nice cat, she wanted cudlle all the time. Now we got british male cat and he is real dick. The worst thing is he is always meow when we are sleeping

I'm a dog person.  I can tolerate cats, but, I'm just as well if they aren't around.  my wife though is a cat person.  now i have 4 cats running around my house.  it's like a mad house here, a true zoo.  you never know when one of the crazy cats is going to jump in front of you / on you....  when one will come flying around the corner...  it's nuts

If that's how you feel about cats then i don't think that you be allowed to adopt any pets at all, you knew animals eat so you shouldn't be complaining about the fact that they are constantly demanding for food. Ibet you always eat when hungry so why shouldn't the cats also do the same.

Getting attacked can definitely be startling.  Just keep in mind something we learn in anger management:  emotion -> reaction -> consequence.  He was probably just trying to play.  If you hiss at them they will get the message that they are playing too hard.  Glad the dog is working for you.  Ruppers are great.

I like cats, and have one.  My brother however hates them.  When I went on holiday once, my brother watched my cat for me.  He was so mean to it.  I won't let him alone with my poor cat anymore.  Some people have low tolerance for cats I guess.  lol

Cat is most intelligent animal in our planet in my opinion. They do whatever they likes. Not like dogs, when you call them they just come to you. But the cats would come when they wants.

A friend of mine has a cat and while I pet it, the little as*hole randomly strikes with its paw with nails out directly to my face - like dafuq is wrong with that little piece of sh*t? One second it's calm and the other one it can blind you -.- not to mention how anoying they are when there is food on the table - like every f*cking time we are moving the cat out of the table and that little arse finds a way to STEAL some of the food... I have a Red eared slider turtle and it is the most harmless and cute animal I'v ever had so far /previously I owned hamster, dog, parrots, fishes and a rabbit... So far the turtle requires so little attention and he is so calm and peaceful - he is always happy to see me when I come near the water tank and even if I get him out of it he can't scratch me or bite or run away from me lol Anyway as far as it goes I think I will prefer any other animal but a heartless cat - they are cute when they are babies, but when they grow they don't give a sh*t about you...

 It depends,if it's your cat and you're the one feeding and take cares of them,i dont find them annoying as a matter of fact they are very friendly and loving just like dog,but if it' s a stray cat  or your neighbors cat who's making unnecessary noise at night, then that's the one that i found very annoying.

well for me, I generally like cats more than dogs; my mother used to be a veterinarian so when I was a growing young boy we used to have dogs after dogs after dogs, some of them I remember being with us for 5 years other just 2-3 years as they are given to our relatives and I remember one dog who accidentally ate our mouse poison traps. When I was a young boy I recalled that whenever I saw an abandoned kitten at the streets or on our house I used to keep those kittens and house them until they grow. from my experience, kittens are very very hard to nurture animals when they are young, they tend to be very anxious and aggressive whilst dogs are somewhat the opposite. however as I noticed when they grow up, cats are more affectionate and loving than their dog counterparts. I like how they cuddle up close to you and rub their selves on your skin. our dogs on the other hand prefers eating our slippers, destroying furniture and giving me bruises as I play with them. But I think dogs are way more trainable and more loyal if you equally treat them well.

I didn't know much about cats until recently. I started visiting an acquaintance not long ago. And she happens to own a cat. My God, doubt I have ever been so pissed in my life. This cat was always moody and ready to dig its claws into you. It always has some need to be attended to or the other. And then the consistent grumpy sound too. I really don't consider them much of a pet, really. But dogs are just the other way round!  ::) ::)

Hardly any dogs kill people, but when they do it's usually the owners fault for not raising them right or purposely making them violent. Besides, we all know cats would kill you if they could. I have one dog(mine) and three cats(my wife's). I like the cats just fine, but what makes them so damn annoying? They cuddle up and that is nice on occasion and they are even cute, but overall... on a rating of 1 to 10 of the annoying scale... I would give them an 8. Meowing late at night, kneading on my body, taking my seat, leaving cat hair and puke all over, deciding every once in a while to piss on the carpet, fighting amongst themselves.... it just never ends.

I always remember Andreas Antonopolous whenever someone discusses cat videos online. I don't hate cats but I don't like them either since their fur falls out everywhere. Turning on the fan will just make these fur fly everywhere. I knew this because I once lived with my sister who has cats, she has this litter box that I'd be the one throwing and replace the sands on it for the cat's poop.  Also, cat poops stink.
