I started with fiat money, before cryptos, but only in sports bets, but after I found about cryptos I started to gambling in online casinos
And I prefer to bet with BTC, it's easier to play in any website I want

Before cryptos, it was hard to bet in my country because we have some strict laws against casinos and the IPs usually were blocked

I never gambled with fiat.

Too much trouble. Usually requires kyc... And I was always a little affraid to put my credit card data in gambling websites.

I had not tried gambling with fiat as I have remember. I had checked only bet365 but there is verification problem. So I just avoid to use it. Because I really do not like to use my personal documents for play gambling. For your info, I just played occasionally and I am not experienced gambler. Where ever I tried to play really I had used crypto currency. And obviously I always try to avoid provide KYC documents for gambling purposes.

I started to gamble with fiat long time before crypto exist in this world. I cant remember the specific time when I started to gamble in online casino but I'm pretty sure that my first gambling is a pvp gambling against friends with fiat money when I was a high school student.


I had the same problem, gambling is indeed an illegal thing in my country so the government always blocking all those sites related to gambling even review sites are blocked as well but it is not a problem anymore since most gambling sites has a way to make their customers able to access the site easily. Now it is getting easier to gamble with crypto and I started to leave fiat gambling since I knew crypto gambling but I still play on local fiat poker sites as it is still hard to find good crypto poker sites with many active players.

I use fiat before as I remember but not in the online gambling website. I never use fiat in gambling online I don't want to involve my bank account, credit card or even if that is through Paypal payment because it is probably exploring my real identity which is I don't like (Not good to give KYC on online gambling platform).

Ain't know if there are some gamblers now that deposit fiat in the online casino, AFAIK they preferred to use a cryptocurrency and bitcoin is commonly used aside from altcoins. Gambling enthusiasts and crypto enthusiast are the best combinations when it comes in the online gambling industry.

Even though I can say that I'm already old here in crypto world and gambling is not a new thing to me either, I still remain playing cards using fiat along with my friends. Actually, if I really want to gamble then there would be no problem at all since our country are not too strict and I'm in a legal age already. It just happened that my heart is not yet ready for taking such thing as a career. I mean, I'm just a an occasional gambler in nature and don't have any plans to take it on the next level (at least for now) thus I don't have the mindset of taking it more seriously from the first place. Besides, I'm getting busy nowadays so I can't afford time (and money as well ;D) for that stuff.

You should actually also check out sports betting for crypto, did you know that the odds are a way lot better using crypto than using fiat? I have seen this in almost every bet I took (Except for promotional ones which are of course not countable).

I used to started gambling use fiat money and at that time i playing traditional cards and it was happened from many years ago but after i know cryptocurrency i stopped gambling use fiat and currently although i'm not regular gambler but gamble use crypto would be my favourite because i can gamble from everywhere even in my own room

I started gambling with Cryptos, I got some coins that I cannot withdraw from some gambling sites and I can only use it from their gambling sites, it was fun, because it's free money and you have nothing to lose, but once you got hooked on it, you have to fund it with your own money, because you looking for excitement brought by gambling.

Well I am not really a hustler but I did start gambling with fiat, I remember those times when I was still a college student, my first illegal gambling experience. We nearly caught by the guards but good thing we have a watch man for them to alert us. Many people started with FIAT I believe. I started betting on sports when I was in high school and there was no crypto at that time. Even when I finished the college, only a few thousand people knew about bitcoin.

I started with fiat I gamble moderately when I still don't know anything about cryptocurrency, but after I got into Cryptocurrency and discovered online gambling I started to use Crypto to gamble on Cryptocurrency gambling sites, I'm still a moderate gambler and I only spend a small portion of my earnings from trading and bounty to gamble for fun.

I started to gamble (or bet on sports to be precise) with fiat, because back then I didn't knew about Bitcoin. And I suppose there wasn't many bitcoin sportsbooks back then. When I started, I was under 18 years old, but it wasn't an issue. I remember using sportsbook which didn't asked for KYC when you play with small money.
Now I'm still using fiat sportsbooks because usually they have more events and bets to offer.
I haven't noticed such thing. Usually odds are pretty much same, some times it's better a bit, sometimes it's worse, but difference is insignificant.

If the casino is illegal in your country, then you should still be careful while accessing online casino with crypto. Although you may be safe most of the time  if the government wants, they can crack down the gamblers as nothing is hidden in internet and you can be traced even if you are using the VPN.

In any case, i will prefer crypto for the gambling purpose because of easy deposits/withdrawal and no complex usage of credit cards etc.
 

With the hassle of KYC and documents, I haven't actually gambled real money in fiat based online casinos and all of the online gambling I've done are with crypto.
I've extensively used fiat on offline casinos. And with the increment of competition, many fiat based casinos have soften their documents policies and it's getting easier to get verified.

Same with me. I do gamble a long time before the advent of bitcoin and with fiat money of course. I stopped for a while after having a bad experience that almost ruined my life. If you are talking about gambling in general and how I started to understand it, it started with my friends, and we play with fiat. Continuously having the possibility of using your intellect to beat my friends, I enjoyed earning money. It has been enjoyable, and we didn't play a high amount but just enough to treat everyone with snacks or dinner. In general, that's how I started learning to gamble and I began with fiat.

Now that I have been part of the bitcointalk community, I have started gambling with Bitcoin as well, and it has affected me in a way that I could bet easily now compared to before. I did with fiat and still doing with fiat on some sports but not going to bet with any huge amount when dealing with fiat.But in cryptos we are not going to be in danger even after risking or betting high amount so there will be no red light to our taxes.For now cryptos was most preferred by gambler and traders for that they have reasons like anonymity while using the coins in large amount as well.

I do bet with fiat and usually on sports betting. Crypto betting is not really familiar to my country except is web betting. Basically, I enjoy sports betting because I understand it.

I have one time in my life gamble with fiats and its was a serious issues with my life as many times I was beaten because of my luck in the gambling but with the Advent off cryptocurrency that's has been a thing of the past. That's why I don't like playing gambling using fiat because I have to provide credit card data or account number. All of that uses original personal data like full name and address. I switched to using crypto for gambling since I know Bitcoin. The advantage of playing with crypto is better than fiat money because many gambling sites don't require KYC. Bitcoin is far from anonymous and privacy features will never be implemented into btc because legal exchanges will want nothing to do with it because of all the legal ramifications.   I bet most people claiming to want privacy are still using things like gmail and google chrome.

My gambling habits became prominent only when crypto was available and online gambling has been illegal in my country. Usually crypto gambling doesn't require KYC. Yes, it's not anonymous, and you guy's have to remember that some exchanges do not want to send or receive BTC directly from a gambling web site wallet
I think Binance once blocked a guy for this, and you should be careful and read the rules of exchanges

I am sure that will not be a problem since we have so many exchanges that will allow us to send to their websites. Besides that, we can send it into bitcoin mixer or our private wallet, and I guess that will be a solution for the gamblers. Now I think many gamblers have already moved from fiat money into crypto gambling games. They found that it is easy to playing gambling using the cryptocurrency and they don't have to send any document.

I've only ever betted with fiat currency one or twice as well. I don't think anyone started out gambling with crypto. All of us in a way fitst placed bets with real  money one way or another. But if given a choice now, i'd still probably opt to waste my fiat. I was playing dice with crypto back when I was just starting to know about bitcoin. And looking back, i could've just held on to those and enjoyed the rising value. I've probably spent around .3 or .4 btc with dice back then.

If lottery counts I started betting with fiat long time before I made my first roll on either freebitco.in or PrimeDice, I can't remember exactly which one of those two it was. But if we compare the amounts wagered before and after I started gambling with crypto, there is a big difference in favor of crypto gambling. I am not really into gambling I just started I get involved and start investing in Cryptocurrency, it started in when I was still working in faucets, some faucets have dice game-integrated, so you can double your faucet earnings after I moved out to faucets I started doing Dice game in some online crypto casinos.

When online gambling was first introduce in my place crypto wasn’t there’s yet so basically I played with fiat first ,actually the online gambling wayback is not as accessible as now because to play online you need to go in their station in order to satisfy your lust of playing

But even if your country restricted playing online gambling you are still free to gamble with cryptos because you no need to pass KYC while playing with cryptos on most of the gambling sites.

Seems like when I use cryptocurrencies to play gambling is make me comfortable to play instead when I played gambling and come to gambling place. But that the both place have an adventage and disadventage IMHO. When I play through crypto I can't make myself keep anynomously and there is no anyone will know about me. But I played with fiat and come to gambling place I always hide myself to anyone who know me. As for the adventage to play gambling with money fiat I can keep my self to avoid a huge lose because I can hold my money on my hand but with cryptocurrencies I really hard to quite my bet although I found a huge loses.

I don’t think anyone is ever happy to go through the KYC process. It was one of the reason many left fiat gambling for crypto but it has become really unfortunate that some gambling site are now asking for KYC. I don’t know if you have noticed this with any crypto site, I have and it has become an issue of concern to me.
 
I was to play on a site {name withheld} yesterday, and the next thing I saw was for me to fill in some of my personal information of which my passport was also needed, it was really so annoying. Had to leave and until now, am still wondering if that was a crypto site because the objective of cryptocurrency to me has been forfeited.

I'm sure most people start gambling using fiat money because crypto gambling is very popular in online gambling. so of course before the online world grew like today then traditional gambling was the only gambling that could be done, so betting on sports bookies was the first gambling I did in large amount at that time.

I guess you just have to use VPNs if you really want to play gambling online although it is not advisable if your country is really strict in casino online. Better stick to your local casino and play by the rule so that you won't have a problem, unfortunately, there's no crypto involve there since you were in a local casino.

Well, since I am 51 years old, I naturally stated playing with fiat, both online and in the meat space. Unfortunately, I got my ass handed to me by online casinos back in the year 2000. It was nice to play my favorite game, blackjack, from the comfort of my home without having to drive or fly anywhere. It was a bit too convenient.  :D Furthermore, most blackjack games offered online play like it is a shuffled deck after each hand. Therefore my card counting skills where worthless.
Lately, I have stuck to only buying lottery tickets, here and there, in the meat world. I also play at online casinos a few times a year with BTC. However, my bankroll only consists of .01 BTC. Very recently, I have been playing at Bitvest. I have invested a very small amount and do their daily quests. I mostly play with the tokens on their daily quests unless one of the tasks is to bet BTC. However, they usually only require that you bet less than 20 K sats.

Kinda reverse of OP's, I started with crypto. I started doing tasks years ago and got paid tokens and stuff and started trying out these online casinos (never too long to get a return on the money). It's just much easier, especially if the money feels "free".

On the other-hand, using fiat is much of a hassle, with all the bank transfers, etc. And if you use credit card, you can end up using much of your limit. 

If you mean gambling with fiat online, then it's a no for me. I have never tried it.
The protocol is too much and its way too risky, I can't afford risking my credit card.
But for offline, I have done it several times. It's simple easier handling out the money in hand without no trace. Now it's even more easier to gambling with cryptocurrency.

I think those who began betting early must have experienced betting with fiat currencies. I began betting with my local currency as i went to betting houses, played virtual games(soccer,horse race etc). I most times came out on top, but I tend to always lose the money the same way it came ;D

I gambled with fiat when I was in my late 20's, its my dad who introduced me to traditional casinos but he also thought me how to control how much I spend inside the casinos. When I started working and always in front of a computer, thats where I discovered playing online casinos but I don't use fiat, just cryptos like BTC, ETH and BCH. I love the idea of being able to play without stepping outside my room. No need to travel and remain anonymous.

I did the same but I did stop myself since I don't want to be addicted my whole life in gambling. Another thing is that I don't usually gamble using my crypto since fiat don't have a probability to give you a profit, crypto can do that whether it is a short term or a long term as long as you know whay you are doing.

Although cryptocurrency is less than 10 years, it becomes popular now, and we see that many people are trying to use cryptocurrency, and they use it for playing gambling too. In the future, there will be many more people will come to the cryptocurrency because they see the other benefits from cryptocurrency. They don't have to think about the verification process because, in the crypto gambling website, they will found so many gambling websites which don't require verification to join with them.

I started gambling with fiat. I was still in my primary school age when I started gambling. As a kid, I used to play with coin games against my classmates. Instead of buying food, we prefer to gamble away our pocket money. We played heads or tails and other simple gambling games for kids. Later on, I started betting on lotteries and cockfighting and played poker and other card games. It was only a few years ago when I started betting using cryptocurrencies. 

Gambling is well integrated in the society I live. We grew up gambling in local fairs which were organized on every popular events and holidays. Though casinos are still a elite thing here, Online gambling has enabled me much more personal space to plan my time and amount as well as strategy.

With cryptos is totally easy, you just have to create a simple account, send BTC to the account and you are ready to go, but with fiat, we have to do a long account, with KYC, wait for a few days to be good to gamble

I agree with you. Another good aspect of gambling with crypto is that you can really bet with very small amounts, like $0.0001 or even much lower. No one would allow that in the land based casinos. Some people use that opportunity for making martingale last longer, but I personally prefer making around 100-200 bets with 990x multiplier or higher. You can win up to $1 while risking just one-hundredth of a cent. I think it's fun.

We have almost the same pattern. I did start with fiat and it was physical too. Gambling with crypto is a new technology and I'm sure most people wound have started with fiat.

I can see that you didn’t pay attention to the smiley he had in front of the comment or you do not understand him. He was only kidding and I don’t believe there’s any gambler that does not value their BTC not this time we are eagerly waiting for bull run.

I love cryptocurrency a lot but never gamble with my BTC, there are a lot of smaller coins that can be used, and being rich doesn’t not mean one would now waste money. It’s a clear joke. I protect my Bitcoin and I am very sure everyone does same. You can use ip changer or VPN to unblock websites  . There are so many free vpns and tools to give you anonymity so that you can access any websites around the world . I guess its fine gambling online using fiat only if youre using trusted and high ranked gambling websites. Gambling using crypto would be fine too, but there were also KYC verifications most specially if youre gambling with massive amount. Now, if you have high concern regarding the security of your idendtity, then use trusted and tested websites.

That will happen with offline gambling in one country because they need to obey the rule in that country. But for online gambling, the owner can search the hosting provider who doesn't have any limitations. I am sure they can find it easily so that they can start their business.

I wasn't aware that it's just going to be the hosting provider that needs to follow the rules when it comes with the gambling laws. Well, I take back what I said then regards to the online casinos that you need to consider the country. Great for them to be able to do that too.

As long as you have the following BTC to invest in, why not? I think it would be a great venture when you try things out. The important thing is that you need to take care of the invested amount. You need to be able to continue living without risking other assets. The amount you are willing to lose.

I think KYC doesn't depend on the amount you have.

There are a lot of gambling sites out there that don't really require KYC and even if you have a massive amount of money to gamble, you can do that without sending your information in their site. For me, it is better to gamble using cryptocurrency since you don't need to confirm it to the bank when you will be transacting it and no one will know that you are gambling your crypto.

Those sites who requires KYC suddenly when you win a big amount, they are a shady gambling sites, unless that's stated in their terms of service.
I know there are a lot of gambling in the space with big bankroll, and I haven't seen any scam accusation that was not solve on big and popular gambling sites, that means they are operating properly and they are keeping their reputation clean.

Every gambling type involves risk, nothing makes gambling with fiat safer, what I lost when I was gambling with fiat is almost same as am loosing now using cryptocurrency. I would even say that is better to gamble with cryptocurrency because you will guide your coin jealously. For those of us using BTC to play we know the value and we will do everything to either win or play with less BTCs because of the few of losing.

It wasn’t so bad using fiat like many are saying but it’s just that crypto made gambling very fast and safe. Anonymity is still the biggest and greatest advantage cryptocurrency gambling has over fiat. Imagine people from countries where gambling is prohibited now gambling happily by hiding their VPN. This is a very good thing and it is commendable.

I try to gamble in crypto before but luckily I get a money to buy a new cellpone. Its really good to involve in here but not to be an addict in gambling. If you got luck its really good to be a winner. Just be controlled to your self and make it all positive so that you will win.

For the time that cryptos existed already, there is something we put into the curiosity of using this as another form of betting instead of fiat.
Honestly, I'm not really gambling before cause my age is not allowed to gamble but by using crypto, age doesn't matter as long as you know how to gamble and as long as you have money to bet.

True. I barely have little to say about fiat gambling because I never gambled with fiat. I started gambling just 2 years ago and I started with cryptocurrency, bitcoin precisely.

I have had had a very amazing journey gambling with crypto and I am much impressed. From the opinion of everyone who have used fiat before bitcoin, I believe the difference between both is huge. It looks like cryptocurrency was a savior that came to safe gamblers from the bondage of fiat gambling and I can only imagine how gamblers coped with this fiat system during the age of fiat gambling because it is so obvious it was very stressful.

I am less interested in the casino site, I prefer investing directly in BTC. indeed how to get everyone's income is different because it has the desired path of each. if I force myself to gamble in casinos that I am not good at, the results will also be useless.

In my opinion, crypto gambling is very good but it still doesn’t justify the fact that gambling as a minor is to be celebrated. I am a strong advocate of gambling at a ripe age and its discouraging to see underage bet on casino sites because they know identity is hidden. This is the very reason I am strongly in support of KYC on gambling sites. I can’t wait for the time it will be made compulsory for all casino sites to make KYC registration a thing of utmost importance, lets wipe out every fraudulent activities from gambling and minors to stop gambling. Cryptocurrency gambling is safer, quicker and more effective than fiat, I started way back with fiat but I have long upgraded.

But the question which OP asked in the title is that how we begin gambling by using fiat or crypto. I started gambling using bitcoins. Before that time I fear to use my credit card on online sites and therefore I did not gamble online because I had to give details of my credit card on those sites. Once I came to know about bitcoin, this made me invest in gambling.

With the internet connection everywhere, the gambling owner needs to open their mind that they need to improve their business, including to consider opening their website by online. Yes, you are right. I only use BTC to invest because of BTC have worth for me. I always divide the usage of the money for living, having fun, investment, expenses, and saving because I don't want to see I run out of the money without a good reason.

Well if you have more money you can use  there is no amount restriction for gamblers anyone can use the amount of their own choice. At beginning i was planning to gamble with crypto but now I got to know that gambling with fiat is better than the other options so now i am gambling with fiat only.

Yes having fiat as our gambling money is fun as we see and touch it physical unlike cryptocurrency that we only virtualy see. However crypto gambling is much more different due to virtual aspect, specially when doing the activities through digital system. There are a lot of variables to consider, it's not just everything for the show, and the money will follow. I think the risk of choosing over the development and design over marketing is crucial, knowing that you have a good website, but no one knows about it. I think the goal of businesses is to have more and more people using it and they would be a giant for sure and having the most marketing scheme in place could be a good thing for them.

Yes, I can take responsibility for the worst thing that I might get in the gambling game. But I think we can use BTC for the payment besides of fiat money, but I still more prefer to save BTC and use altcoin for the payment because BTC is too worth for me. But BTC for me is like a new investment which I cannot have in the past.

Initially I started with FIAT money in a casino near my university, at the end of each afternoon, we were always going 3 friends to try their luck, at first it was all emotion, then we began to see it as a job, where each of us learned patterns In roulette, some time later they did not let us spend more, and we did not understand the reason, they may have realized that very little we lost.

Already later in these times everyone plays online,with Crypto, most of us really like to play poker and black jack, we consider that they are games that are more likely to use more the strategy to win and we are not depending on the random.

If you continue with the mindset of love for BTC and then fail to risk then you are ready to make it in gambling. we have the same reasoning on why we use our btc for gambling but im aware that most people will kept thier btc and use altcoins not because they dont want to earn big but because its less hassel and less expensive in terms of tx charges  .

He probably doesn't want to gamble with his precious coins at all :). That "Gambling is too risky" is not a good excuse to avoid it completely. Cryptocurrency trading is risky too but lots of people trade anyway.
A risk taker like me could easily avoid losing alot by testing with tiny amounts of Bitcoin. But I probably will learn gambling well before taking the risk

Due to the fact that you don’t need any KYC for most of crypto gambling sites I prefer crypto. I would never do KYC for a gambling site so gambling with fiat money wouldn't be an option for me.

The reason is when you deposit using the fund(fiat), of course, you will use your own ATM card or credit card. And that happens it will be linked to your personal information which is not good at gambling. While using crypto there is no KYC verification and you send fund via altcoins of bitcoin so you still hiding and being anonymous. I prefer to use crypto than fiat.

Right, despite the fact that crypto gambling is heavily burdened by fees that have to be spent more but by remaining anonymous in crypto gambling it will be our choice. Crypto gambling is indeed about freedom and those who are familiar with online gambling use fiat then at least fees are the main concern for them to switch to crypto gambling.

That’s what we all do ,playing in sites that has no KYC requirements(but there are some who don’t indicate their KYC at first because I have read some issue about that sometime and they surprisingly implementing KYC once you hit jackpot os something close to that winning)

Impleneting KYC once you hit the jackpot from the gambling site is still okay ig the amount of money is really big lile ten thousands dollars and up but if it's only below thousands of dollars and they said for us to pass our information it is unfair. If you are a +EV bettor and long BTC, then betting in BTC makes more sense than betting in fiat, regardless of short-term volatility. If you're a recreational bettor, then BTC (and crypto generally) has some benefits over fiat, even though the UX is often not quite as good as in fiat sportsbook/casino.

Not only because of volatility but also because crypto is highly profitable to keep holding I never bet in crypto but I keep holding it and gamble with fiat only. I was investing with crypto so my friend told to save crypto and invest only fait now i am having crypto also I am a good gambler so wish me luck the same people.

Well i've started gambling with cryptos since the age of 17 since casinos in my country will required to age of 21 for you to enter but i am playing some slots and casino games in facebook since the age of 13 you can call me an addict though but i don't mind it since it was my past time anywho, back on topic, the first online casino i've played was bitvest.io since that site has my favorite game which is plinko and that time i've discovered that you can gamble at the minor age at these online casinos anonymously but i advised that not gamble at such minor age i've i do especially at public places..

Guess gambling is not really for me. I am not using my fiat nor depositing any of it since I might be addicted to that. As I said, I just usually use some Satoshis on the faucet that I can get.

I think if a gambling site wants to implement KYC they should do it for all the players who are playing on the site. Hitting a jackpot and then suddenly you came to know that you need the kyc to withdraw this amount is sometimes not fair. Many gamblers do not want to disclose themselves.

I think quite a few people think like you as well. On the run up to BTC ATH in 2017, we heard that people gambled less with their BTC because the returns from just HODLing were so good. Why risk losing that "guaranteed" (i.e. not guaranteed!) profit on gambling. So they held their BTC and gambled with fiat. Lots of nuances in this question.

But we don’t need to just use Bitcoin in betting because dogecoin and other alts will do the same with small value than bitcoin.

I also prevent myself in betting using bitcoin because all of my BTC is sacred and only assigned for holding(not unless time comes I will be needing for emergency)
