Hi all,

I want to invest some money in Bitcoin (long term investment)
It's better wait the next fall down (like the situation on December/January), or buy now?
Otherwise fixing a target for example 7000 or 8000 $ and buy in that moment?

You shouldn't ask for financial advice here on the forums because people tend to give advice based on their opinion and beliefs regarding the market but If your goal is long term investment as you're saying, then, in my opinion (a lot might disagree), you should accumulate as much as you can, regardless of the current price because no one could predict the price. You should also keep in mind that the halving is going to occur in ~250 days and that would mean less bitcoin in circulation so more people will be buying before that, and the price might not drop as you're expecting.

Why you are worried that could happen and no one knows if it really happens. I think you need to buy it now, instead of waiting for another fall.
This is fair price to buy BTC now and it should go up from here towards 20k.

First: if you have to ask about investing, maybe it would be wise to not invest; maybe you should read/learn more about it. However, make sure it's money you afford to lose (if things go wrong).
Now, one strategy for buying/holding is to buy smaller quantities on a regular manner. This has a chance to make the fluctuations not matter that much. Of course, if you do this and "tomorrow" an exponential bubble starts, you won't be happy you didn't buy more. So it's your decision to be made.

I think you should wait , we don't know how low this could go, maybe bitcoin will retun to 3k or to 1k nowone knows!

Assuming that you have not yet bought any coins I would suggest you to buy some bitcoins now since the price is already down so much.
The current price at $7900 is a good deal to bag come bitcoins since the potential for it to increase in price is very high.

What if you wait and the price goes the other way round and increases to $15k then $20k and never returns to $10k.
We should always plan our strategy well to make profits in every situation.

Honestly, Nowadays - don't have a time for buying Bitcoin, I buy when i have the funds, I'm a long term investor and for me having funds laying around for the low entry point is not easy based on the economy - when i have extra funds in the house i look for Digital assets to purchase regardless of the market and Invest This is how I accumulate my portfolio. Bitcoin is very Volatile at them moment and no one knows when is the right time to buy or wait.

If this is the mentality you have a future in creating FUD when the price rallies because you messed up in investing when there was a correction :P, if you are confused on when to invest then do not invest as it will be another issues as you will sell the coins whenever there is a correction and you end up loosing majority of your capital and investments should not be like that.

You just got what you wish for. I'm not sure if it could go down to $7k but 1k isn't going to matter when you aim for long term investment. Right now could be the last price you see btc to dip this low. Remember that its strong support was at $10k weeks ago.  Think of doubling your money in months.

As at this time in cmc, the price of btc is now $8,174. This is a fall happening since last week from $11,000. A buy at this point is still good entry before the rally begins up again. The difference from the current price back to &10,000 up, is about $1,826 and that is good because price can easily shoot back to $10,000. Just my opinion and maybe, analysis  ;D

You can start to buy a little with current price, if bitcoin price fall deeper, you can buy it more. With this, you can avoid you bought bitcoin at too high price, because price still unstable for this week

Its a very rare occasion that Bitcoin price drops at 21% in less than a week. Usually its just 5% to 10% so this current trend is something that we can take advantage at this moment. Bitcoin to hit $7,500 would be very unlikely but its Bitcoin, its unpredictable. It was only last June this year we have seen Bitcoin at $8,060. Buy now? Why not if you have idle funds, we may see Bitcoin at $8,000 level again after 3 or 5 months after the price started to recover.

Anyways, my rule of thumb is to always buy in dips, so we have 2 massive downward target, $8500 and then $8000. So if you bought some at $8500 then definitely worth to buy more at the current price of $8000. And if the price continue to go down then still get some. That's how smart investors think and strategize. However, it is still your call though, the market is ripe for buying, and as the saying goes, buy when there's blood in the street. So if you're planning for a long term hold, then buy and take this opportunity to your advantage.

Times like this are indeed rare and for those investors which are somewhat wise than others will see this as an opportunity like myself but it cant really avoided for you not to hesitate.
Average down will be good if you do accumulate gradually.If you had purchased or able to buy on 8500 levels since the price goes even lower on sub 8k then you can accumulate even more.Waiting for too long will result into missing chance and yes this time there are blood on the streets and we know that this is the best opportunity to take but somehow dont

You should buy Bitcoin now as the market continues to dump, you will be able to buy Bitcoin for $ 8000 or less, I believe this is an ideal price to buy it. After you have purchased Bitcoin, wait for the market to recover, and profits will come. I am very happy that the dump market opens up investment opportunities for so many people.

As the BTC price has already fallen to $8K this week, Bitcoin looks attractive to buy. By the way, the entire cryptocurrency market has been dumped drastically and most altcoins have also dropped by -20%.

I always keep in mind that the Bitcoin mining reward will be halved in 6 months, so its price is likely to grow in the near future. I assume that the current strong support level is about $6K. In any case, this is a good opportunity to accumulate some BTC coins in advance. I think that Bitcoin will not be lower than $6500K in May 2020.

Actually harder to give any advise or suggestion at this current situation to avoid blaming, this situation difficult predict where bitcoin price go on, is better to wait and observer first before to decide to buy for investment, of of course a lot pf people they advise price drops is opportunity to buy bitcoin investment but before we do that we need to also to analyst and observe the situation to make talented decision.

let me play devil's advocate for a moment. if that strong support just broke down, why is it a good buy? don't you think we may need to flesh out a new trading range and establish new support levels first?

i'm not usually one to catch a falling knife myself. i like to buy either a strong reversal/uptrend or a double bottom formation. this is a high risk entry here.

It is a high risk entry time, but there is assured growth and we can profit out of the same if we have patience. Here Op too isn't looking for an immediate profiting, upon which this can be considered the right time to buy. Along with the same to reduce the risk it is better to wait a little as the price could fall even lower. Importantly Op has a target of $7000 - $8000, now this is reached. Further it is his money and he is supposed to take decision.

I have also that on my mind, remember this when we reached the all-time-high and pullback to $6,000 areas.
A lot of people telling that "I will gonna buy when it will fall on $4,000" and later, bitcoin dumps below $4,000.

But look, a lot of people afraid to buy when it was below $4,000. A lot of regrets at that time, when the year 2019 starts, from around $3,300 ALL THE WAY up to $13,000.
So, those people who afraid to buy and wait for their perfect opportunity are full of regrets, it's really sad for them.
You can't really know the perfect time. Or much better, you do the Dollar Cost Averaging when buying bitcoin.

Buy early while you have money that not needed on this moment because it's very unpredictable when it will start climbing.  So must be ready all the time.  Don't waste your time searching when to buy or wait because indeed it will not make a progress if we didn't contribute. For me just wait for bitcoin to dump, because I think the bitcoin will dump now anytime, but at 6k-7k$. That is my personal strategy if the bitcoin hit's that price I will buy a lot of bitcoin.
I will use the 50% of my funds in trading, and if it goes even lower I will buy more. Remember patience is the key in trading. So let's just wait to dump and then buy a lot!

I believe December is the best time to buy, depend my strategy use MACD ( day - week ). When you can't decide what should do I think you need to analyze your strategy again. Include this question into your pattern, can I handle the risk if I buy now or I should change my strategy more wise?. Find your answer, calculate with your fund, execute and good luck to you.

I think for now is good time to buy. Not a perfect time because we don't know where price of bitcoin will go. But every dump for me is a chance to buy more as long i still can do it. And ssave another money to back up or buy again if down again. Maybe with 7000 or 8000 dolar target is good thing to do to because each people have their own strategy in how to buy bitcoin.

Buying portion by portion of your spare money is much better strategy when you are not sure what the market have to offer, there's no assurance if this will continue to fall or immediately bounce back in a short span of time. You need to deal with your fear if you wanted to earn from this market, many possibilities can take place, either directions be ready to take the long term road in oder not to suffer from certain loses.

Now btc price is $8000, it's good time to buy some bitcoin now. but before you take action, make sure that you analyze current market, so you will know the best price to buy and gain profit. It also need to make asset diversification, and make sure not to spend your fund that you can not afford to lose

hello mate, I'm not an expert in checking our the possible highs and lows... BTC keeps eluding me  ;D
Nevertheless I would say that if we are betting on a new bull run for the beginning of 2020, taking advantage of the 8000$ level would be a keen move...
It will always have a bit of gambling in it, as I've seen a ton of predictions and they are rarely right...

I suggest you buy now, price is falling but it's not guaranteed that it will continue to fall although people are panicking already.
If the whales will decide to make bitcoin pump up again, that is gonna happen as their power to manipulate the price, nothing is impossible.

Other scenario, if you buy now and price will dump more, you don't have to panic as by just holding, you will still be able to sell at a good price since its expected that bitcoin will recover, bakkt launch maybe out of hype anymore, but think of a long term effect.

At this current price I can say it is a good time to buy. But I won't be deciding that myself. If you're still looking for a cheaper price to buy then wait for that moment. But don't regret if you'll miss this chance then you blame someone because of it. Don't base to anyone your buy and sell prices because no one really knows how the market will move.

Buy in this current situation is a good decision however if bitcoin going down to $7500 level you need to buy again and hold for a long term because bitcoin will recover and will be back to its alltimehigh this is not a financial advice just always manage your fund and trade responsibly.

Buy now because you don’t know if the price will still go down or not. If you have extra money if bitcoin hits the lower price then you can wait for that, but in order for you to have security better to buy now. Bitcoin is so good and it can start the pump again at any moment, so think twice now.

and keep it for the long term at least until 2021
because bitcoin always go to the moon every 4 years due to block halving, 2013, 2017 then 2021

Agree, following others in the end will not be good for yourself because there will be thoughts of blame or whatever it is. Make your own decisions so that whatever you choose will become a strength for yourself so that you don't panic when prices fall lower or even increase quickly. So buy now or wait for it to be lower in essence it will be fine as long as you are able to be confident in every decision you make.

Op target price already reach the target and I think it's time to buy bitcoin if some individuals already see your target value of the bitcoin. But I think bitcoin still continue decreasing so better to wait for now but if you think it reach  the price you can buy because anytime for sure bitcoin is possible to rise but it is still unpredictable . But make sure you have more bitcoin now to be prepare for the bull run or even a surprise increase .

The market still stands to be unpredictable all the time and that is we can't guarantee the Bitcoin price will turning down hard more than of what takes today. Not to say that it will soar high back shortly but I have faith that the entire market will rise and has to see Bitcoin's demand increase as well.

I hope you change your mind. In a certain thing that we can't be like what the market shows last year or even yesterday. Prices keep running and changing, cause if we think that Bitcoin will turn back below $5k, then you may right to wait but if don't? You probably lose your chance.

My advice is to place your order buy from $7000 - $8000 and wait for a while. I guess that your order buy will be filled in the next few hours or so. You can leave the order buy at the market while you can do another thing, but you need to install some apps on your mobile phone and set the alarm on. I don't think that wait for the next fall down will be better because we don't know when it happens, so it is better to buy bitcoin at the current price or to place the order buy as I say. I agree with you. This kind of decision should have been done with ourselves, we are the one who is going to invest that is why it is we are the one who will decide when to buy bitcoin or wait for a little more because the price might drop even more. It will be confusing because the other half of your self will say to wait and the other one will say buy now or you will regret it later, and the result is always random, sometimes you get the fish and sometimes you missed it.

Unfortunately there has been a sharp decrease in price in the recent days, and it is not guaranteed that it will not continue. The price has slowed down at 8000 levels as we thought and the next move will determine the future price. If the support is broken, it may go down to 6500. At least with back up, maybe like to use martingale strategy when we buy in cheaper price but with more amount of coin that we want to buy. Actually, to buy bitcoin there is no word to say a good and the bad time especially for long term intention. Moreover if we see the fundamental analyst I mean bitcoin will face halving event and there is some companies who able to accept or make their own crypto has been proven that most people on this world have known it and they are still considering to buy it.

I don't have any idea to commenting Bakkt service at this time, I've been waiting for a long time to see this service be launched and even most crypto user is doing so. But when it was launched at 23 September a few days ago just give a negative sentiment to the market. I don't know it is just a trick from some whales to buy in the deep or indeed the service is not interested by most investor.

There isn't really a good or bad time in buying Bitcoin to be perfectly honest. Rather than asking advice for when to buy them, you should rather ask advice about observations of the past market and try to come up with a variety of possibilities that may happen. No, I think it is okay, opinion of others is necessary to build up your own and make better decision. It is not bad to take an advice from someone but make sure that you should take what your instinct tells you for you not to felt remorse. A piece of advice is okay because admit the truth that there are things you didn't know in fact as what they say "no one is an island", no one succeed by their own at all.
Now, if you'd ask me I'll buy now since no one knows if bitcoin will go up or down so take the chance before its too late.

Most of the beginners have misconception about investing in bitcoins. Just because they saw that the price of bitcoin is too low,  then they will start investing. It is the misconception that we should change. The price of the bitcoin is too volatile, you can only have foresight about the price of the bitcoin if you have enough knowledge about technical analysis.

Everybody dreams of buying from low and selling from high. However, it is almost impossible to achieve this within full limits. If you believe in Bitcoin, you should buy it maybe not always but at least at prices that you think are relatively low and wait for it to rise. I think you are aiming too much, your target price was so far to be honest. I'm not saying that it was impossible for btc's price to reach $7k to $8k especially knowing that the market is not  so lively for quite a long time butvit still requires time. I can't even say when is the time btc will reach that point so for you to save time I advice you to invest now, hodl until it reaches ATG or what ever price you want to exit. Another reason why I adviced you like that is becuase the bitcoin halving is gonna happen next year, I'm pretty sure you don't want to miss the boat, right? :)

In other words, without the word "Thought" all the words "Thought" are wrong. others think that they will soon buy big money when they buy bitcoin because of the rising prices in the market, so often they buy it so suddenly that it causes them to worry because they think they are losing their money invested. Wrong mindset because it was created, because you have to learn or know things about bitcoin trading first.

I am not guessing here but I am sure it will increase in just a manner of time. It cannot be predicted accurately but it will.
Adoption may be slow but it is still adoption which increases the market value of bitcoin.

There is nothing wrong with this, buying bitcoin in the lower price is the most basic way of making profits in investing in bitcoin even as a beginner, so how come that it is a misconception, I'm perflexed. Many people are now waiting for the big dump of bitcoin and they predict that it might fall in the price of 7000$ or below so I suggest once it hit that price you should invest then hold it and wait for the next halving that will happen in the next year 2020. I agree with you that it's better to wait for the next fall so you might buy it at a low price then you might sell it in a high price. You must learn first the flow of crypto market and no one can gives you definite prediction of price. The current price is below $8k and if you can take risks it is still good to buy. If plan long term investing in bitcoin accumulating more is good. As long you understand the flow and risks in crypto buying of btc and the price is low is a nice decision.

I guess he needs to wait for a while because the trend now has changed. Bitcoin price now is down again so if he can analyze more about that, and I think he can be able to get a low price and not the price now. Waiting is always the right choice for all of us to have big profits in the long run, having this bitcoin halving that would happen next year only means that the price would drop even more than what we are expecting, it is frustrating because we are in the bearish market for almost a year and the bull seems to be lost in space or still in the moon waiting to come again, but I'm sure something good will happen before bitcoin halving will happen next year.

I say buy some now and then use some of your savings and buy a little every month as others mentioned before.

Also, what I wish I was doing right from when I started investing in BTC, is to not be afraid to take some profits. What I mean is that if you see a nice fat pump, don't be afraid to sell some thinking "what if it pumps more?". If it pumps more, you got yourself a nice profit. But usually it goes down, giving you a chance to rebuy more btc without actually spending a dime :)

That's the thing I rely that makes me confident that bitcoin will not fall to its lowest since last year.
Bitcoin is now experiencing some dump, but it should not create a lot of panic as we have witness this kind of dump or even worse last year, and look what happen after, bitcoin this year starts to recover, stays over $10K for awhile and it brings back the confidence of the people into investing in the market.

Pump and dump is normal for any type of market. It is an opportunity for new investors or a chance to grab profit from their investment. Either way we should not be greedy when buying or selling. If it already dump like bitcoin from the previous days then don't hesitate to buy even if it goes lower, chill and wait for the pump again. No one knows if at this current price it will dump more or it will begin to pump.

Buy now and for sure you will earn profit for the future, but if you think that the price will go down then it's good to wait and buy at the dip price. If you want a long term investment i suggest you to buy now and wait until the bull run happen.

We never knew when or if bitcoin will decrease its price compared to its current price right now hence, we should take the advantages and buy as much as you can otherwise it will be your loss. Bitcoin below $10,000 is a good buy in my opinion. But be wary of market especially now that bitcoin reach below $8,000. My advice, buy on staggered  basis. If it dips further, buy again. Thats BTC cost averaging , and when market recovers its easy to recover your losses.

Distributing the budget will be much more efficient. For example, now, you can buy 20% Bitcoin, then wait until the price drops to $ 6,000 - 7,000 and place a buy order at 50% of the deposit, and leave 30% to add a position.

The price already fell on the level that you've mentioned earlier and somehow goes under $8000, we're not even sure if this will be the lower price within the month. But you're planning to invest for a long term and in that case, the current price could be a good level to accumulate with just a portion of your capital so that if ever it goes even lower you still have a chance to buy much higher amount of it.

I think when the price of bitcoin has gone down a lot like the current condition of the price of bitcoin then this should be the right time to buy as much bitcoin as you can because you should be able to take advantage of the moment when coin prices are cheap.

As much as I agree with the general consensus of not asking people online for trading advice, IMO Bitcoin isn't done yet, I think we will see a jump past $100k within the next few years then see it fall back to around $20k after. I also think many alts are going to jump up to 100x within a similar time frame when the next bull run happens. Once Bitcoin is higher then I would expect it to be stable and maybe in a decade the markets will be a lot less volatile and maybe Bitcoin will stay above $100,000 for a long time.

That fall down is the lowest and it will take time before it will happen again as the market is like up and down, right now we are still in the middle of up. So it's better to buy now and wait for the market to recover as you are also investing for a long term one and waiting for the price to goes up is not a problem with you.

Bitcoin is doing well, shitcoins are dying out. That's the way it should be, 90% of alts have no purpose and are used to raise funds from ICO with nothing but a whitepaper. It is ridiculous. Wow.. when you made this post, the exchange rate was around $10,500 per coin. And within two weeks, the prices dipped below $8,000 level. If you had kept a target of $8K, then you would have purchased BTC by now. It was a very good strategy. Anyway, if you didn't used that opportunity to procure coins, then do that right now. The prices are still hovering at $8,000-8,500 and this might be the last opportunity to get some coins at four digit prices.

What fact do you have to support your claim that bitcoin will still drop in price again as I can see that the value is already increasing once more, it would be a mistake for anyone who did not invest when it dropped to about exactly $8k and now that it is recovering, it will still be a very big mistake for anyone still interested in accumulating not to buy now.

We are already moving toward a full recovery and I know for sure that this recovery will take us back to $10k where we dropped from, and then further break more barriers, the next pick that I see for the value of bitcoin now should be like $15k, if we pick $15k, then the Bull run have started, and usually during bull run is not a good time to purchase as many people will eventually end up falling for FOMO price.

In my view, in life opportunities are countless, so we should never think about next, if you can do it now do it. If you were unable to do that then too it shouldn’t be major concern. I would personally think that investment right now in Cryptos is not bad but just requires to be done carefully. I beg to differ, as far as I have examined the bitcoin market tenured and smart investors will invest only if there is a massive pump or else unexpected dump which takes the value of bitcoin to the lowest level and they wait for the value to reach the peak and once the value starts to fall they sell it off. I see that bitcoin tried deeping to $7000 of recent before it eventually picked up again, it seems that the bulls are really trying their best to make sure that the market does not deep below $8k again, but if they are eventually over shadowed, I think the lowest we can ever get for now is that $7000.

The thought that at every halving the price will boom is little dumb. in one sense the price will go up if the mining difficulty stay constant or growth. Meaning that if miners spend $20,000 per block to get 1 Bitcoin, and after the halve they spend $20,000 to get 0.5 BTC or $40,000 to get 1 BTC, the price will increase. However, there are most likely miners who will stop mining do to higher difficulty and the price will fall. Long term I see the halving as a wash, but short term it may lead to some growth.

Interestingly if you look at Litecoins price history it pretty much always went down after it's halving, and difficulty drops too. Bitcoin always went up after it's halving. Nobody is able to say what will happen but I'm rather bullish. However, i think we need something more powerful than halving event to see what we saw 2017 ATH.

Ill think it will back to $9k and $10k price of bitcoin in this moment, So on this drop price of bitcoin we shall start to collect more on it.

Potential investors in my opinion get too excited to enter the market, even if we know the market can move really fast bitcoin needed more than a year to show any recovery, that is more than enough time to learn how to trade, from this moment to the next halving we have about 6 months and that is also a decent amount of time to learn how to trade, there is no need to rush your entry to the markets especially since a single mistake can be enough to suffer losses from which it is difficult to recover.

I see that currently, the price of Bitcoin is at $7162 (down 15% from last week).  I'm not sure the price of Bitcoin will go down to $ 4k, most likely the price of Bitcoin will go down to $6k...  just suggestion, if the trend is still red, then the best time to buy Bitcoin when at price $6k.

In my opinion, price of $6000 may come back again because for the past 2 days we have all witnessed the huge collapse of the crypto market so any prediction can happen.
