I have a friend who wins 15,000 pesos or $300 the first time keno games in an offline betting outlet, he is so happy and very ecstatic about his winnings, I congratulate him and ask him how long before he hit the jackpot, he told me that it took him 7 months and he is betting daily at 100  pesos or $3 so his losses are bigger than winnings.

But surprisingly he did not calculate his losses all he cares about is he finally wins, how about you do you remember your losses when you win a big amount and do you calculate your losses and ask if the winning is worth it?

For most of the gamblers, the order of their win and their loss is the opposite. Gamblers win small amount of money, then they think as they continue to gamble they will become more professional and will earn bigger profits.
Personally the first time I lost a big money on gambling, I remembered my wins and wished I had withdrawn my profits.
Gambling is different from other businesses. In most businesses, first you lose money, then you earn money after you become experienced. But gambling is different. More people gamble, more they lose. Because every thing is based on luck and the outcome does not depend on your skills.

Its normal thing that someone will feel happy when he will win on gambling. For few moments he might forget about his previous loss. But it doesn't mean someone will forget his loss forever. Although I am not big winner on gambling but I think I will happy as well for few moments and I will try to recover my previous losses. And same thing I am feeling during trading also. So your friend win after a long time that's the reason why he feel too much happy after win.

Gambling is emotions. You tend to gamble more when you lose more.
And I personally remember my loss more than my wins. I do keep records of my wins and loss but could confirm that it's always the loss that's greater in every short of gambling. Though I have profit in some specific sites or specific games.

most people that play keno games aim for the jackpot and winning that 15kPhp is just a bonus for him. he is probably thinking that, at least I got back some of the money I gambled.




300$ or 15kPhp is a huge amount in the Philippines that 300$ can last for 3 months.

Always win makes us forget what we've lost to get this. From my view I always keep a calculation between what I've lost and what I've won, I feel happy when my winning has overcome the loss I've experienced. In simple when I get at least a single dollar worth bitcoin than what I have spend I feel myself more happy. Until then even if it is a big jackpot it won't make me feel good personally.

I don't remember my losses. You can't calculate your total loss as it will add up with every lost bet. You can just predict a net profit or net loss. Since I have distributed my games in many casinos and activities, I don't have a clue if am in net profit or loss. But in the immediate hand, it's surely a bit of loss :P and yeah, when I win big, I forget about past losses, and wager more to win more not thinking that I may go back where I was, that's how gambling works ;)

I am exactly the opposite, as I believe most people are.
I remember mostly my losses, because they were traumatic. When I win, inside I feel like I am just doing what was expected...

For a gambler, it's definitely worth it to get a feel of winnings. After all he spent months and months just to hit the one lucky number and for most of them that is already enough. However, you have a point that in the long run and if you are going to sum it all, that is still a negative to them.

I guess that is a gamblers mindset, they don't calculate how much money they have spend or lost. As long as they got the adrenaline and the feeling good attitude, they will continue to play again and again.

Absolutely not, because if I continue to count losses then it will only be a pressure that will not be good if we still continue to bet, because to chase losses for me it will be difficult so just keep betting without calculating losses and completely I will forget about losses, even though at one time I had small and big wins, but still I would not count losses.

why traumatic? was it because you lost huge amount of money? because it would only be traumatic if you are not ready to lose that amount money and poofff! its gone!

one win over countless losses has really good psychological effect to a gambler sometimes. you feel good about yourself that after all this time, you got your spotlight! and you dont care anymore about your past losses. and definitely yes! this is the reason why most gamblers keep on playing. the adrenaline rush involved!

It's interesting, because I know some people who are "almost" addicted to gambling, and they bet for months on the same machines, usually placed in pubs, and it's exaclty like you said, they win sometimes and they completely forgot about the losses

It's his choice not to count his losses but for me, I use to count my losses. So that whenever I feel it's too much, I stop because I have my limit.

I think that's a feeling that other gamblers do, they don't care about their losses but it will make them feel that their win isn't worth it because they are oblige to calculate their losses against their wins.

I remember my losses even Im not win to the gambling and I been calculated my total losses to my total winning amount of money that I win gambling in the last few months only but if the the losses is in the past years ago I did not calculated it only this year.  But now for this year my total winning is bigger than my losing and Im thankful for that I hope it will still happen.

Of course, since most of us suffered from losses and that doesn't mean if you win big those losses were gonna get back or something. It's just that you were so unlucky before compared to when you won today. Somehow not knowing your losses is a bad idea but of course, we play to have fun and not to chase our losses so maybe your friend is just playing like this and when he won he would be more happy. I know that game and that game is really a game of luck, its ok to lose as long as you’re aware of that and have the best gambling decision.

After winning big of course I still remember my losses that will help me remember to stop if I did recover my losses and stop playing at this time if I feel i'm not lucky at this time. It's what I do if I lose many times then i'll stop risking my remaining money and start on the next day especially if I won big that able to recover my losses.

Yes, when i do won some amounts on gambling i do normally think if its worth it but in all games that i have been through i do end up on not to care at all if im just being able to hit break even or still on loss.We cant deny that  if we won,those stressful things we experience in losing bet would be wiped out and we do continue our betting hoping for another win and this is indeed the sad reality where the cycle continues and this is the reason why this gambling industry is booming up.

I am not too deep in bet. And not really much to play gambling games. Usually i count how much already i losses and if win maybe i remember it. Only remember it but never count how much i win if compared with my losses. I think when win in gambling, you deserve to be happy and that is essence of gambling itself. If lose make us stressful, and when win we still think about our losses, it wouldn't make us happy.

That's really is the essence of gambling, to make you happy and enjoy your winnings, you don't have to remember your losses, or you will feel bad that you win, and there will be remorse every time you win, and that should not be the case, in my case I never really play to make a profit but just to entertainment myself.

You should really not remember your past losses, but the fun and the excitement that it brought you while playing the game whether you win or lose.

I never ask or even calculate my losses if I win big, or I will just sorry that I if win again because I will just calculate my losses again, and I feel sorry again and it will be a cycle, again and again, that's make gambling oppressive to you, and you will feel sorry that you gamble, because you are playing to lose even though you win.

Congratulate to your friends, and that is a gift to him to win those games. I am very curious about how much his losses in those games because I guess his losses will be more than $300 if he places big bets. I hope next time he can make a note or he can write how much money he will use to playing gambling so if he can win some money on that game, and he will know if that is worth or not to continue playing the game.

I never write or calculate how much I lose money in any gambling games. Besides that, I don't have any experience to win more than $20, so I think that is okay if I don't calculate it. But if I am playing gambling every day, and I am a pro gambler, I think I will calculate or at least, and I will write in excel or notepad so that can remind me about my winning and my losing.

Balato is when you win and people you know or lost ask for some consolation to you, might used the wrong word, I don't know. Most of the Filipino gamblers will say, "Talo pa nga ako ehh", meaning he still lost despite the win.

There are two reasons why they say this, first is because they don't want to give money to that certain person and the second one is that they are aware of their losses in the past that they just use as an excuse since they don't really wanna give money to other people. Even though they know they lost in the past, winning that time resets the losses in their minds and keep on gambling.

Gambling is not my daily activities or even it is not my source income. I'm just playing gambling when I want and I had a money to play it. So I never count my money to spend when I play gambling and I never count as well my big win in gambling but I still remember my big win on gambling was I got $500 from sport betting and I never got again.

So my point here is I'll play gambling and I using money that I can afford to lose and I never goaded to deposit again although I'm still curious to playing more at there. Just like me. I'm not a huge gambler. I mean, I only gamble from time to time or for merely entertainment. That's why I don't really mind my losses. What matters most is my winning.

And for my dad, who bets on lottery for over many years now, his losses are surely greater than the amount he wins. But the way I see it, he doesn't mind those money he lose. Sure he feels sad if his number doesn't come out but whenever the numbers are those he bet on, he is very grateful and the times he lost are just gone. He even bought me a present from his winnings. With that, I'm sure he didn't mind.

If he gambled for the sake of entertainment then i don't think he needs to calculate losses.

We all spend money on food, movies, video games — and usually we don't calculate it.

While, if he was into it for money then he should be calculating it, some gamblers manage sheets where they calculate their net profit and losses.

Why you have to remember, you win and that's all just matter,  tomorrow you might win again you will just frustrate yourself if you think that way, better just get your win enjoy it have a drink and face the next hoping that you will win, again and again, losing and winning are part of the game.

Good topic, I don't think that most gamblers remember their losses to be honest (including me). All they think of is that they just won and that's what matter most for them. And I doubt that gamblers realised that or put their losses on paper so that they would know how much money they have lost so far.  ;D

your friend is a true gambler mate because he play for fun only that's why he didn't calculate all her lost after winning. But it's a bluff that he didn't remember that he spent many money on it just to win . Because it's your experienced within on it and it's impossible ypu don't remember anything . Especially when verytime you succeed because it will  throw back automatically when there's something good that happening on your life.  Especially if it's a related on it.  

Sometimes we people don't count our losses as we gamble all it matters that we won it after all the loses the we gone through winning jackpot is the ultimate goal for us gamblers and also, it's relieving if you won something after how many times we  try to get it you know!!.This also applies to real life no matter how hard you try or how many times you tried all it matters is you succeeded on what you're doing. I don't usually count my losses after i won huge in casinos since achieving the almost impossible and largest win is a huge achievement for me.

This is one of the examples on the dilemma about gambling since what only matters are the winnings and not the losings. In gambling, it creates this illusion that someone may think that they are winning but in fact, are losing due to the accruements of money along the process.

What makes this more dangerous is that it places the individual on a pedestal thinking that they are actually lucky, which would only start the cycle of gambling.


Once gamblers start to know and account their losses, that will only be the time that their discipline will manifest. Rationalizing every win and disregarding your losses would be very dangerous especially in the long-run and streak of gambling.

My gambler "friend" always remember his losses whether he wins or not; a family member also does.
That's before they decided to quit ;)

I already experience to win in keno lotto but the different thing is I dont gamble often in this kind of game, I think that day im just lucky to win. I didnt hit the jackpot but was lucky enough after spending few dollars I won 400$ (if I remember it right) because its been few years.

Well if I win I dont really think about my past losses and just enjoying the current happenings. Past is past so whats the point of calculating it.

Most gamblers did not remember their loses, that's why they didn't know they are already losing a big amount when accumulated.
Actually, most gamblers are just looking for fun, eve in my case, if I win big money in gambling, I would just forget all my loses because I know from the very start that to be profitable in the long run is not achievable by most gamblers.

Probably because of the hype he felt that very moment or/and maybe the money he used for betting doesn't really matter becuse it was only an extra money or an allotted budget for gambling pruposes. A man is enjoining playing keno, it's not matter how much he lost, we got to apwns money somewhere, and a man decided to spend it on keno, I respect that. I remember some of my big loses, but not all of them, its same with my winnings, it's cause I like to gamble and I do it everyday, it's impossible to remember everything. I understand this man, and people who enjoy in something they don't calculate how much they spend on their fun, it's like that with most activities, not just with gambling.

Tend to agree and I think that is what OP means and since he stated about (peso currency)a local currency. This feeling was I noticed to my father when he won in lotto(the 3 digit combination), he keeps saying on us once he hit the combination number and got a jackpot prize. But if we add all his bet in lotto that too much compares the winning amount. But he still happy about what he got. Remembering your losses is what you've got is heavy feelings, much better if you don't.

This happens to almost all risk-takers (not just gamblers) who spend time on something that has no known learnable strategy. It is not really advisable unless you are playing to discover some strategies for the luck-based gambling or you don't care about winning. 

It's generally not advisable spending alot of time trying to profit from something you do not understand its workings or has no known strategy especially if you have limited resources

 

One reason maybe is he has a stable job and the money that he uses can be brought back with his job so he can forget about his losses. Another reason that I know is he is just enjoying playing keno keno (this is what I call to keno) and he tends to forget his losses as long as he win. He is just gambling for fun that is why he forgot his losses.

I understand the perception of your friend. Not every gambler doesn't compute his total winnings minus his total losses. We can't deny the joy that winnings give us, thus some people including me will just ignore me loss so I can really feel it and be more optimistic. Some people are also gambling just for fun; perhaps they don't need to be profitable but rather have some fun with a thrill by putting their money at stake.

Of course. It was once your experience and I bet you wouldn't forget that. The feeling of losing, the total money you've lost, and the disappointment you have felt that day. Maybe it's just his initial reaction after winning and I believe it's just about acceptance and moving forward. Of course you won't just stuck yourself at the past and your losing. At some point, you will also win and the experience of losing will become your lesson not to make the same mistake.  

Most indeed experience more losses (amount) than wins. Everyone will be happy with the winnings, but they really never count the amount that has come out in gambling. At least Winning is the main goal, even though if we calculate it, we don't get profit.

Haha! When one gains victory, even though you are injured, at least for that moment you gain relief. But one may remember the scars each time you see it. It depends on how heavy the loss is sometime that determines how easy you forget it.
At times when you loss at gamble and you still have a job to expect payment. You may easily get over it. Thinking about the past loses after victory doesn't make things better but learning from the past is more important.

I think a good gambler will always remember the losses he got, not to lament sadness but to be part of your journey in gambling, that gambling has a huge risk of losing, and sometimes profit you earn, could be boomerang for you if you don't remember the losses that you get.

Gambling is very addictive and you could not realize that you're losing because all you consider is to win and to gather all the loses because winning feels so good and it makes us happy. although losing makes someone feels frustrated and angry and it takes a lot of money once your addicted to it, you will need some help to get out of it.

It's just natural to remember all your loss before you get the win that you always aim for. Imagine betting for such a long time then you just win once. If you win double or even triple the amount you have won, then probably you will remember more of your win but if it's not, then that memory of losing all your money before will still linger your mind. But it's an experience worth learning and sharing.

If I can say so myself, I have a good system to keep track of winning or losing, at least when it comes to sports betting.

Apart from the daily thread I maintain on this forum, I have a small sum of money I set aside every season for football. Or specific tournaments. And then it's simple really from there. End of season/tourney, I know what's left.

I would think of my lose but won't care much about it because losing is part of gambling and you should always have that at the back of your mind every time you place a bet.

Since you mentioned months, then he definitely would have forgotten it. Even if he does remember, it doesn't "hurt" anymore coz of how far it is in the past.

Think of it this way. If you gamble a dollar on a lottery ticket everyday for a year, it wouldn't feel to much. But if you have to give up all that money in one go, you might even decide not to go use it to gamble.

It doesn't make you important cause you are just having fun in gambling but if you seriously think that gambling is a major source of your income, everything will be remembered and makes them needs to fill in those losses.

I always calculate when I gamble and try to keep a positive record. It's usually very hard and there's not many games where I did that. If I win I will remember my losses for sure but a win helps you to swallow a loss that's for sure.

I think most gamblers will think that our losses is a part of the past now and we shouldn't think about it anymore since we can't get back what we've lost already and we can't change anything from the past. This kind of mindset is for gamblers who do have self-control that's not stressing too much of how he lost that money since in the first place it is his own fault and he enjoyed it so it's just fair to pay for entertainment.

All I am trying to thing about is filling up those losses. Maybe that is how he felt too when he won that jackpot.

Yes, I think it's nothing if you really have a stable or good job. On his mind, the big deal for him is the achievement of winning on a lottery that has a small probability of winning. He's the type of person who gambles just to be entertained or wanted to have a thrill in life.

We shouldn't be serious on gambling, that's why it's called gambling because you're risking something. So at first, we are aware that there's a risk and forget all of that money we've spent on the past.

It's hard to explain, if he's just spending 2.8k pesos per month and have a lot of income from his stable job, then it's fine. But for a normal person, it's a big money already, if he saved it, he'll get a lot of money than 15k.

I like keeping track of my wins and losses; I do so for trading, so it's natural for me to at least keep a mental count of the losses and wins that I've had at least in the near future. I've had several large wins in the past, but I typically never forget the losses (sometimes a bit large) that happened before a major win. It's definitely worth winning even if you take a small loss sometimes IMO, though if you're still deep in the red after a large win that's a different story.

Exactly, we don't need to remember our loss, but it is better if we can know how much our loss so we can prevent to get more losses in the future. Besides that, we can know that playing gambling will only give us losses because we don't know when we can win the games. When gamblers can win some money, they will forget that in the past, they are losing so much money before they can win. And if they can realize that, perhaps they will think twice to continue playing gambling and risk more money in gambling.

Or if they want to play gambling, they can play with small money, and if they can win again in those games, they will consider that is because of luck, and they need to leave the places.

No, I don't think he is not bad at math like what you think of. I'm pretty sure that he is still aware of his past losses and realized that the prize he won wasn't enough to cover those losses. The thing is OP's friend was just ecstatic right after he won, he just want to live the moment of being a winner. And that's normal. Have you ever seen a person who won the jackpot that instead of being joyful he became upset and said to himself "It is not enough :(" Of course there's no such thing! Unless you are emotinal imbalance lol.

For anyone who gambles frequently and with a good amount of money, it's very difficult for your winnings to outweigh your losses.
We all know how difficult it is to gamble successfully, losses occur more often than winnings, so to make sure your losses are minimized, you bet with small amount of money while still chasing the jackpot, that way if you get to win, you'll either be at an equilibrium or your winnings will be higher.

For me it's foolish to keep losing money everyday, then win an amount that is lesser and be joyous, you could have as well saved up all the money you've wasted and it would have yielded an increase for you :o.

Indeed. But some people wont realize it especially if they are happy to gamble their money for the hope to win like in lottery. I know someone who regularly gamble in lottery even the chances of winning is one in a million.

Its common to be happy (and forgot the past losses) if you win regardless of how much amount it is.

Winning in lottery is a life changing event, for sure a gambler would forget all his loses because we are talking of million or millions here.
However, let's be realistic, we know the chance of winning in lottery is very slim which is close to nothing, but we still hope we can win one day.

When a gambler continues to spend for lottery ticket, I don't think it would hurt his pocket a lot because the amount that is spend is just a small amount, unless he is crazy to spend for many tickets thinking it will improve his chances of winning.

yes i did calculate them before i start to gamble   . i will calculate if how much will be my winnings versus to my looses if that will be worth it to gamble  . i also consider the difficulty of the game  .

i tend to play more if the game is more winnable than compare to those that are verry risky like lotteries  .

 id say that its okay to play with smaller bets but the reward is bigger because its not regretable at all if ever you loose but the feeling is verry rewardable if ever you could win on them

I do make an account of my gambling wins and losses. But I would say most gamblers have the opposite kind of mentality. My mother used to place small bets on local digit lottery. For a time, she almost did that on a daily basis. She could have incurred significant losses already if she had a detailed account of it, but she does not mind that because she places a seemingly insignificant amount every time. But when she wins she would easily gives away a blowout. She's the same with so many gamblers in my locality.

Funny how people celebrate their gambling victories without thinking much of their losses.

You can still remember your losses but due to so much happiness then you can overcome it and move forward to face the truth that you win big so you don't need to remember your losses anymore. Most gambling enthusiasts will not after what they had lost, they keep doing on it just because they wanted to rich quick with a small odds to bet and one of common bet is on the lottery because it needs only a small capital to spend.

Yeah when we know our lose we will know how to make it again profit I know time to time things will be good for you but remind your lose abs never try to repeat your mistakes. Knowing your weakness and your strength is the most important thing so when you will recognize your weakness and reasons for lose try to overcome it.

Basically it is not good to calculate previous losses before you start gamble as it may force you to bet bigger or play longer so you will be able to recover the previous losses. I think it is always better if you start gamble from zero like you have never gambled before, but obviously you should always stick on your own limit on every gambling period. It is what I usually do whenever I start to gamble as it gives me better feeling and enjoyable while gambling as I don't think about previous losses.

personally, I have forgotten all my loss, even though I didn't win big.. I just think that it is useless if I have to remember my loss in the past

Maybe if I compute my total losses from I started in gambling for sure it will be a lot of than my winning amount.  But I categorized only my capital this year not in the last few years because I leave gambling for about year I remembered.  But I'm happy to say that I get more than my losses.  Maybe just forgot the past and focus to the present so you will be focus in playing gambling because people compute the past losses that can cause also for them to lose more because it can become them greedy to the profit so they want big profit but instead of thag another losses capital happen to them because we know gambling is after you win little times the longer you stay the high chance you losses including the capital you have. 

Sometimes it will take time to forget big losses in gambling, but we need to forget it in order for us to enjoy our following gambling session.
Most of us are just losers so winning big is not ordinary and therefore this is something that will excite us as a gambler who just gamble for fun.

I myself have lost a lot of money in gambling, sometimes I regret losing big especially when I loss control but eventually I just forget it as I know I need to accept, otherwise, I will have to stop gambling and I would not have fun anymore in my life. I think by remembering how much we lose money in the gambling games can make us become carefully to manage the money we use to playing gambling. We will think that to win the games will need more money and more time, and that is not for all gamblers. Besides that, we can know how often we can gamble with small money so we can prevent losing big money.

A few years ago, I lost a lot of money in the dice. I tried to play by Martingale's strategy with a minimum bet and saw good results. But when I increased the initial bet I got 8 times in a row "no". My money was just not enough for the next bet.

After that, I don't gamble very often, but if I do, then before the game, I determine exactly how much I can afford to lose.

I don't usually keep tabs on losses and wins while playing casino games. I used to earlier but that often led to keep up gambling more trying to build up better stats ....and gambling in long run you know which way it goes so it never worked out for me and I made it out of habit now.

Nowadays I just keep some parlay bets from sports book which I won beating some good odds.

Knowing your loss or able to calculate doesn't give you the thing on preventing more losses on the future yet everything is random.The thing here is that you are pretty aware that you are having soo much loss than winning.If you do know how to control up yourself then its good since you are fully aware and would able to stop if things goes severe.

Loss will really be part of the past and its true that majority will not bother out to think of those loss yet on what is important is on the things that they are currently experiencing.

Too many people think they can simply keep doubling up until they eventually get the hand they want. However, they'll soon reach a point where they can't afford to double up again and will be faced with the decision whether to keep going or accept your losses and stop. The bigger man will be able to know when to call it a day, whereas the problem gambler will continue.

If there is something I have learnt about gambling over the years is if you lose it let it go or else you will be chasing your losses and this is a proven fact other gamblers can attest to, and winning big is a even a better reason to forget about any losses.

This is very common, gamblers will tell you stories about the amazing profits they got one day but if you ask them about their losses they will tell you they do not remember but you can see in their faces that deep down they know they have lost more money than what they have won, so if you want to avoid this the only way is to keep detailed records of how much money you brought to the casino and how much money did you had when you left, this way you can easily see if you are losing more money than what you can afford and stop gambling if necessary.

Yes while willing better not to keep any bad memories in your mind it can discourage you for further gambling wins. You want to win so keep your goal in your mind and if you had any bad experiences in past you only remind your lose to learn from it and never repeat again all those faults which can make you get discouraged.

I totally agree with this, but the desire of some people to benefit and even wealth through gambling is still very large.

The thing is psychology lol. You know something, emotions are one part of the human system that complicates us. It's very difficult controlling it. The more you become euphoric about an act, the more you'd want to do it again and that's what eat gamblers up.

Of course yes I remmber all my loses and I compute my lose and I compar and calculate how much money I eaen or I win for only a break even. That is very important because computation and calculation is part of the analysis how to control ourself as gambler.

At least, we can prevent from using more money to gamble so that we can avoid more losses in the future. If we can calculate that, I think we can know how much we lose, and we can feel that it is not good if we still continue playing gambling for a long time. We can also think that we need to limit the time of playing gambling so we can have more time to do other things.

Obviously, it is very hard to forget loses. I was lucky, my last loss was huge, in short I didn’t know how to proceed with the game but the next trial brought me joy, I didn’t only recover my loss but I made even more.

On gambling, its just really a matter of luck and not all gamblers would have the same mindset on how they do react into their own losses.

This isn't the addictive nature, just because they have lost and thinking of the loss users will try to recover what they've lost in the past. Whether it is big win or small, always the losses will be remembered, and this is a very fine thing about gambling. Maybe if the entire losses were recovered with the big win then they might not think about the losses.

Yes, they only think about how to win the games without thinking about how if they lose more money. They will forget about their losses in a few days or weeks or months ago because today, they can win some money. It feels like what they lose in a few moments ago is not exist because now they have the money.

I am surprised that someone still uses martingale, I thought it has been mentioned here many times that the strategy is doom or you never knew? So what led you to trying it. Well this is not the time to put blames. I am sorry about your loss and I believe you must have recovered since it’s been years now. ONE more thing, I think that I noticed from your post that you have already prepared to lose a game even before you play it, I think this is a very wrong mentality, and  I hope you work on changing this mentality because its possibly the reason behind your loses  and martingale cannot be blamed so much for this.

Back to the post, I don’t see any reason to remember my loss if I win big, We only remember loses when we keep on losing.

It depends how big the win is.If you just win an accumulator like a ticket with 10 games and you win for example 0.5 to 1 Bitcoin it is surely a big win but it is not enough to forget my lost money because I have lost a whole more money by gambling.This is a great consolation prize as I can start to recover with that but I cannot easily forget my lost money.

It's like paying homage to those dollars you have lost along the way that help you get to where you are right now ;D Anyway, if I lost a lot on casino games, I just don't care about it and I'm more open to losing on that facet of gambling rather than losing on sports betting. I do have my own portfolio of W-L over time in sports betting, including the amounts gained/lost as well. I'm well over the W right now and I'm definitely okay with it, though I could still be on a losing streak knowing that I don't track my casino loses, but whatever.

For lots of people gambling is a hobby, if he’s having fun & gambling with only $3 usually then maybe he doesn’t mind losing. It’s only like going out with friends & drinking beer. If he’s having fun then cool. Obviously when he wins $300 he forgets all those little losses even if he’s still down.

Ticket wins aren't memorable although it's still giving that feeling of relief that you have won.

And winning such amount from the example that you have given will be remembered though but the point is when you have won that much, you will also calculate your losses and extract on how much you've won or break even with that winning.

In gambling we already knew that it’s more of losing then winning so if you still play means you already accepted the reality of small chance of winning .

If that so when we got a win and specially with that amount in which good money,we intend to be happy and forget everything just for a day or so

That's great to hear, so you have won a lot rather a loses and Yes definitely. You can remember your losses after you win. You might compute your losses and your total winnings to have the exact amount of your earnings. That's what gamblers do but some people will just celebrate and forget all the losses and will just be happy for the win. That's what we called totally entertained in gambling.

In some way, counting back the money you've lost can lead to regret. Especially if it amounts to almost the same as your winnings. We know where regret leads. Though in another point, you're right. Counting your losses will make you aware of how careless or cocky you were with your money. I guess it just depends on how you see your losses. If someone told me the same thing like that which is not calculation all his losses then it is just proven that the person is a gambling addict and he needs help. The mere fact the he's very consistent on betting everday that he won't stop until he manage to win so imagine the amount he would lose if he did not still win after a year.

I think that not all gamblers which do not calculate his losses, it doesn't mean that the gamblers were an addict and needs help. As far as I know, I don't calculate my losses, but I don't addict to gambling. Besides that, I guess that many other gamblers will do the same as me.

Perhaps, we are too lazy to calculate the losses we got in the gambling games because we don't think that is too important for us. The only thing that we want is only playing gambling and have fun without thinking about the details.

When we're on the red, we tend to be reckless hoping we'll make up for our loses, usually ending up with even more loses. Making ourselves believe we have no loses should help at some level... unless you end up losing everything... don't do that!

Not really, most of the time gamblers don’t remember the losses they incur after winning a big amount because they are to focused on the wining they got one time which is higher that what they bet on the day. In this case your friend bet $3 but he won $300, at first look it’s sure a big win but when you look back and calculate all your bet for 7 months then $300 it’s just nothing however, once gamblers win big amounts the first time won’t really look back at his previous bets, what is important the he won after a long time.

Depends really on what kind of a gambler you are and how much you gamble in a day. But mostly, they don’t count on the losses because it’ll be a big headache for them to have loss such amount. You are correct there, it will only hurt us if we keep counting our loses, we are not here for business where we need to track our expenses and income.
Usually we easily let go of our loses so it will give us a room to enjoy the next time we gamble, and usually we save money for gambling and that money is the amount that we can afford to lose, that's how we prepared for it.

As I can see to your friends, He was so happy when He found out that he won that amount of money, and didn't notice the total losses He made during the time that your friend patiently doing it. So, if he took it 7 months it means 100 x 7= 21, 000 Pesos were in the end he still got loss of 7, 000 pesos.

I personally think, there’s no amount of money we will that should make us forget the past loses no matter how small it may be. Those loses puts us in check towards the next games ahead and also we appreciate the game the more.

Your friend was probably happy because he was able to partially win back his losses. If you keep on losing and then win all of a sudden, it is quite normal to be very happy even though if you loss is higher than your total profit. I don't see anything wrong over here.  You friend is actually doing a good thing. Instead of regretting and chasing his loss, he decided to start over again probably.

Well, ofcourse, I would be happy like shit. Not to mention if that pot money was able to fill my losses then I'd rather make a savings out of it then play again. That's would I do if I were on that position.

Yes, no one will forget what they lost in the past and will make the lost as a motivation to get better in the future. But if that is happening in gambling, I think some people can forget their losses even if they lose big, especially if they can win big money in gambling. Most gamblers have the same mentality. No gambler records or even takes note or make a journal of their daily winning and losses to keep track of their winning or losses. I think you should start learning to do that. I was once like you, never paying attention to my loses or keeping records until the day I noticed the money I had kept for something very important was all gone and the only place it could be traced to was gambling. I felt very hurt and I mean really hurt because if I was keeping records I would have known earlier that I have exceeded my limit.

But I don't think if your win will bigger than your losses because if he calculated, I think you need more win to cover your losses. That will make sense if the gambler finally wants to continue to playing gambling because they want to get another winning plus they want to cover the losses.

Depends on how you look at a big win, for others increasing their starting bankroll by 2x-5x  would be a big win.

I agree he won't recover all of what he spent but winning a lot of money for once will always give you that positive feeling because it doesn't happen to most gamblers only a few get the chance to win big. 
 

I think we all know the importance of letting go but there is just this impossibility of letting go even when we understand the necessity. The truth be said, it hurts to lose, it pains to let go and winning money is never enough to heal this memory but like they say, time heals all wounds.

So for me, even when I win, I always have that record of what I have lost stuck in my memory. This might not help me to recover or even help me win, but it always stays as a reminder that something is gone out of me that would have been used for better things and even after I win, I just feel like what I got in return is not enough to compensate for the loss.

I am so perplexed at some of the comments I read here, I really find some things weird. What exactly is the difficulty in letting go of a loss. What is lost is already lost and I believe it should never be remembered, with or without a win.

I think a lot of gamblers that are so bent on holding onto a loss are used to playing more than they can afford, because for someone like me who is always prepared to loses even before it comes, I don’t think it should be a problem. I will definitely be glad when I win a game and obviously never remember I once suffered loss in the same game.

it's not weird to remember each of your loss in gambling while you ended in profit. It's actually just a normal thing in all people's mind, including you. You must be at least even only for once, remembered your losses before and wanna try to recover it. There is no one people like losing their money even though they can afford it

NOPE it’s not normal to remember in the time of winnings because that moment is time of celebrating,and we usually remember than loses when we lose constantly when we reminisce of all our failures then we also find ourselves thinking what we done wrong why we end always losing and sometimes it comes that we also think of quitting

Basically that's the mindset of every person who don't value their effort during the pressures of gambling probabilities of winning. When you're happy you won't be able to think the past frustrations, that's why you're just enjoying the lucky winning moments.

Those who keep on looking back at loses are gamblers that are always aggressive in playing which leads to addiction and other terrible gambling habits. They are never satisfied with what they win, because they think they have lost lot more and deserves to recover it all and this is not so with gambling. im just plain happy when i win something from playing a gambling and id enjoyed playing it that it comes to the point that i forgot how money i spend and loose from the beginning that i start  .

i think i can remember more when i win or when i win bigger because winning rarely occurs on me  but loosing ? i cant count them anymore because i oftenly loose but i dont regret my actions because thats my fault that i wanted to play a gambling .

I don't remember how much I losses in gambling because if I did that, it would make me sad, and I will try to recover the losses. That will be difficult for me because I don't have good luck in the gambling games. And if I try it with so hard, I will only get more losses, and I realize that will makes I broke. I am trying to playing gambling, but I don't use so much money because of the big risk in gambling, and I try to accept the risk.

In your case, I would assume you had a nonchalant attitude. You don’t have to keep record of loses to know when you should put a pause to a game. What happened to setting limit and the likes? And you successfully finished the money that was left in your custody for gambling.

I would have thought this was a fictional story, but I have known you for some time to be very accurate and realistic and I am sorry to say, the regard I always had just dropped. How could you play a game to the extent of exhausting what was kept for you to hold, I feel disappointed and I hope you learnt your lessons from that anyway.

This isn't the same for every person though.
For example some people will control themselves and won't continue betting because of the fear to lose more.

When it's my first time to win a huge amount of money I also don't realize my losses because at the moment when I won I'm delighted that I hit the jackpot like all my hard works pay off. But yes, after calculating all your profits compared to your losses, you will just realize that your losses are much higher than you have won. For me, it's like if you are a win at the very first time/ hit the jackpot, you will just ignore the amount that you lose because our mindset is like we are unlocking a new achievement of our life. But sooner after winning again and again (habituated in winning), you will come up to the point that you will calculate your losses to your profits or in short we gain experience and become mature to that kind of nature.  :)

We can't stop ourselves for calculating the losses but we have already admitted that sometimes we can't retrieve it anymore. If time comes and you win, you are thinking that it's okay if you have losses in the past.

Quite right for me I guess, it sometimes means that winning is also equals on getting losses on a straight time. And besides no one can guarantee that the odds of having the pot might get your losses, sometimes the pot is quite small comoared to everyone's loses so catching it up won't be necessary.

That's how we think, we don't usually remember anymore our past loses, we enjoy the moment because in gambling we don't win most of the time.

Gladly, I don't want to remember my losses so I can prevent myself from trying to recover my money. That will be difficult to do, and I know that I don't have good skills in gambling, so that is why I try to forget my losses. Let us think that gambling is for entertainment for our life, so we will know that we don't have to expect to make a win. But deep inside we are still hoping, that is true though. When was the last time that you bet your money and just think that I will just bet this money and be happy with it? I have a relative which is into lotto where everyday he spends like at least 100 php or about 2 usd every day. Recover all previous losses? Add some profit? I don't think it is that easy. There are many gamblers that lost in gambling and winning once just can't recover your losses. If that is just how it works a lot of gamblers would just gamble all over again not worrying about the losses they can get.

Yes, that is true. I still hope that I can win the money so I can use it for myself. I don't remember when the last time I bet my money and think that is my last time to bet and be happy with that. I never do that because I will say that the money I use in gambling is the money where I can get fun and feel happy. Well this point is true, but if we remember losses after big win I think there are good and bad things. Maybe it's good when we remember the losses that have been experienced then we will be more grateful and careful in playing. It is good to forget those things that only make you sad and nothing else. Losses are here for us to learn and get some experience. Crying over spilt milk does not brings back the milk. Besides, if someone hits big money which compensates previous losses, there is no point in getting depressed. But here is the reality, in gambling, most of the times a person will lose and the wins wont be big ones either.

I think the issue about your friend is not that he does not remember the loses he has made but really what can be done about it? He has lost it, it has gone and its never coming back. In short, its an historical cost which is irrelevant and there is nothing that can be done about it. So when people rejoices over a win (take away gambling now), it's not that they are oblivious of their losses but its about appreciating how long they have come, that they are not cut out for entire losses all the time, and there is hope again that winning might come in the future.

In my own opinion, i also remember and calculate all of my losses after i won a huge amount in gambling, so i could know if i have recovered all of my losses because if i didn't recover all of my losses even i won a huge amount of money, i still have losses. But i think recovering all of your losses is really not that important as long you didn't lose a lot of money and you enjoyed playing in gambling.

Greediness landed you on such condition because, if you play and win and withdraw from the platform you are smarter than the platform but when you stay back and play with your wins, it become greedy. I agree. It doesn't really matter if you are losing when you win big. Like, what the hell is a .002 loss to a .01 win even if you loss at least 6 times the .002 btc. Recently a good friend of my mine won a jacket after several streaks of losses but he never remember all his losses  luckily for him the total amount of bet he won was far higher than his losses despite shunning every form of discouragement to desist from gambling, however he quit the that habit of gambling and invested his money in oil business presently his business blossomed and never went back to gambling again.

Well, just like him I would jump in joy as well because winning a jackpot in playing gambling is really rare. I might forget how much money I lose because of the surge of my emotions. In my opinion, it is just normal for people to forget his bad experience in the past if something good comes up in the present.

I don't think it is necessary to remember the mistakes made in the past whereas now that we have experienced big wins, losses we have experienced in the past can only be used as lessons to be more careful when placing bets. Come think of it, I've won a couple of bucks in gambling before but the only thing that I can remember is the happiness I felt when I won and it made me think that there's hope in gambling but I didn't really think about my previous losses. Your friend was a very lucky person because of his win money, still bigger than his losses. I am glad that your friend can find another way to increase the money because if he still continues playing gambling, I am not sure if he can get another jackpot. In my life, the biggest amount I have won when betting is 4.71 BTC (profit 3.71 btc), but actually I always remember the amount of bitcoins I lost in 2015 (50BTC). I wish that if I saved them, my life would be easier.

In that year, the bitcoin price is not too high as now, and if you lost that bitcoin amount in 2017, then that will make you stress and desperate. At least, you have the experience to win the biggest amount of bitcoin in gambling, but I am not sure that if you can win the other biggest amount again in the future. Unless you have luck in the next winning, you might not get the biggest winning at all. You can save the win money if you want and you don't have to use it again for placing another bet, so you don't get another loss.

You are right. I remember that in that year, bitcoin was around $200-$300. I can not imagine if 50 bitcoin is used for gambling in 2017-2018. I am sure that if he loses, he will get big stresses. We almost forget with the losses if we win big, and that is normal to see many people say that because we do not count how many we are a loss. But some people write their losses, and they use that to remind them about the dangers of gambling. So if they win, they can take a look and check on how much they earn money from gambling.

Maybe it is worth it for him. You say that he is daily betting on that particular offline betting outlet and I guess he is already hooked and at the same time enjoying what he is doing, and as I know about that game, there are also some small winnings or should I say consolation price if you hit some of their conditions of the game. Maybe he also wins small amount on that, so that he tries his luck to get the highest jackpot. I also forgot my loses when I actually win in a game because all what we think at that moment is our winnings and not our loses.

I think, I'm more of a "now" person. I just live in the moment. I mean, what matters for me is what happens now. Of course, I still recall the fact that I have lost before but not to the point of counting them and see if my winning is enough to get back my losses. I simply enjoy what I have gained rather than what I have lost.

It is natural I agree but that lack of control can lead to addiction, it is important that you set a limit to how much you are willing to gamble each week or set a limit to how long you will gamble during a week, I say this because most of those which become addicted start that way, they gamble a little and then when they win they get very excited and instead of cashing out and be thankful for their luck they decide to keep playing.

Obviously its possible to win and still not cover previous losses.  The idea of noting previous losses is that on average your games won will reflect an average for that games probability of winning, hence some will want to continue until their luck returns.   Thats probability theory and it has to be done properly really so the gambler isnt just chasing losses in blind hope but noting each game won or lost is not a bad idea so you can at least repeat what has proved profitable in the past.

I always remember my losses because I keep a track on the spreadsheet how much money I've loss  and why I've got a tracker because that money comes from the loan I took. Even though I have already recovered my loss, but every win I always subtract it from my losses.

I am sure that you can control your money in gambling, so you don't get a big loss. But I guess that you will need a long time to recover your losses because I don't think that you can win many times in gambling. I think that is a good way to control yourself—to set a particular limit for a day or for a week. It is quite challenging and tempting if you'll only remind yourself at the moment you play.

But if you have already set your mind that you will only gamble a specific amount day(s) before going to the casino or before going to your favorite gambling site, then most probably you'll save yourself from bigger loss. I agree with what you said; I usually do the same thing because when the day that I lose a massive amount of money, I get too emotional because I can't afford that loss. After that, I set my self that I will control my money in every bet that I will make. This day I calculate mostly everything that I gamble, and also, I bet a limited money/budget money that if I lose all of it its game over. But not only in losing, I also have a range profit, that I gain that profit I will stop ( but mostly depending on the luck that I have.) :)

That's the nature of gamblers. They will never stop until they gain the profit that they want. Winning a larger amount one big time is still fulfilling despite losing something each day. However, we should still set a target goal and we must know when to stop. If we think that we're not gaining what we want, we better quit than regret it in the end.

Many people desperate because they lose and when they can win big money, I guess that they still lose some money because they already lose from a long time ago. But yes, they will not remember their losses, and they will consider that the losses are normal for them. There are times for me that I really forgot my losses a long time ago when I won huge amount some weeks ago. It is because I got my losses back thru different sources of income.

I am guessing you won that $100 then you played it back which resulted in you losing $50, and that's the number one mistake you made. When you won, you should have withdrawn your winning and not putting it back cause its more like being greedy.

This is what we call addiction. When you become so consumed in the win that you certainly forget the losses that you made to reach such profit. If you are betting then you must not calculate your losses because for me calculating your losses while betting will brings you bad luck so it would be better that if you lose just forget them and just play another game. If we win we must just be happy for ourselves because we already win and get a large amount of money and our losses will just become our experience in order for us to win. Have played really safe till now limiting my losses and have not won big either. Generally if i win substantial, then i do remember my past losses so as to see if i did at least break-even. If I win little, I dont ponder much and enjoy the moment or simply spend the wins in food. If I lose, I do curse myself for taking risks and I do recollect my wins.

i sometimes remember my losses when i win but maybe things may change when the winning is more than 3-5 bitcoins because for me that is something to celebrate and wont matter how much i lose in the past but that very moment and the day after will be enjoyment and no negativity

Majorly people would be on the losing end and some would be neutral and few people who would made some good money . So people who have made money might just not really remember about losing small money.

Indeed, remembering and calculating losses will be good for managing expenses in gambling, but when you continue to gamble by chasing losses then you will only lose more and of course it will suffer greatly. Yes everytime i won i remember my loses and i calculate also my loses is bigger than my winning. So its hard if we are go on gambling because we need to be smart and we need a luck to win. If don't have that everytime we gamble we lose. I lose a lot of money in gambling in online also in offline. And i never experience to win big amount hope i win big so that i will stop gambling.

You said you will stop when you will win big, but you also said that winning in gambling in long run is impossible? That's two contradictory statements right there.

For your own good, if you already acknowledge that gambling has brought you only big losses, why are you so eager to gamble more and lose more?! You should stop it right now before it starts to become a huge addiction and cause you financially.
