I think the Bitcoin environment has enough competition against it to dissuade any monopoly. think about it, Bitcoin gets controlled by one government or company, and starts to under-perform. if this happens, investors leave the market, developers move to a Crypto that doesn't limit their goals, and Bitcoin price tanks. when all the attention leaves Bitcoin, we see those monopoly holders losing massive profits. If those monopoly holders put in a large financial investment, we see them operating at a loss. a monopoly is not necessarily bad. But, if Bitcoin turns into a bad monopoly, the exodus to another crypto will be quick and swift.

It's your point of view on what is bitcoin so I respect it.
But as an avid user of bitcoin I won't stop from buying, trading and supporting bitcoin not until it got deleted from the internet. There are thousands of people too that hate bitcoin so it's just normal for someone to post this.

I don't think they can just attack bitcoin network. Bitcoin network can fork I think makes the attackers bitcoin useless. They can't just manipulate the bitcoins.

Well no one is forcing op to like bitcoin anyway and if that what he/she thinks then let it be because we can't always defend bitcoins reputation to those people who doesn't even know what bitcoin is. Let them feel remorse about their judgements in the future, there are a lot of them these days and we just need to accept that there will be some people who will think that bitcoin is worthless despite of it's capabilities to changed our life into something better. They will realize it when it's too late and let them so they can learn their lesson for underestimating something that is beneficial to a lot of people. We have different preferences and we don't have to make people believe on something just because we want it that way. listen bitcoin has some usecase- yes you can pay for hosting and buy from darknetmarkets or use it for something else- i know that and i use it myself.


in case of darknetmarkets you cant use bitcoin anymore if you want to do things on there commercially- i personally dont give a fuck if i get busted for buying a bit of weed on there

and in case of hosting i do it because bitcoin is more conveniently to me than using a credit card- no doubt about that- however i rather pay with etherum cause it would be faster.

I just want to ask something, have you ever done a research about statistics concerning what bitcoin is at the moment now? Because as you said, bitcoin is almost controlled by the Chinese which I find not pleasing. Why? Because we, users are more important than miners, we are somehow controlling them because we are the one who is buying their bitcoin, and it depends on our decision if we are to buy their offer. In that regard, the market price depends upon us, meaning to say that we are the one who is determining the market price of bitcoin.

Everyone can create a dollar bill(currency), all it needs is paper and aprinting a machine and come up with a way to make it hard for others to copy it by putting watermarks on it.

Also copying existing money is a crime- because by law there are only a certain group of people allowed to print money and you have to accept this money if you have a licensed store within this country.

So even if we come up with our own currency nobody would accept it for their services cause nobody else takes it because its worthless.

How could you say that Ethereum can do better than bitcoin? and there are so many accusations about bitcoin being controlled by the Chinese.
No need to prove you wrong because you don't even prove anything you just accuse, I think you could pretty much lose a lot of money in investing in bitcoin but it was already a basic thing in investing in cryptocurrency since we all know that it was all have a big risk, surely you could pretty much do the same in investing in a good business and it is less risky than investing in bitcoin. Avoid investing in bitcoin if you don't have enough knowledge because it was just going to be a waste of money.

I think someone is having an issue again because they can't make profit with these huge whales circling around him. And when he invest I assume he mistakenly bought the peak price and now is complaining because it won't reach to his expectations. Somehow Bitcoin is not created for profit making it is designed to make your own bank without the need of any government authority.

Just because most of the bitcoin hashrate is from China or at least the ASIC manufacteur's doesn't mean that its controlled by the Chinese. Do you think Ethereum is any different? Maybe in the days before the ETH ASICs it had a good distribution of hashrate througout the world since anyone with a GPU could mine it, however now much of the hashrate is pretty much ASIC  and where do you think those ASICs were produced? In China of course.

I had these discussions with some of my friends and basically its 2 sided. When they buy bitcoin and it goes up, they say its the best thing ever. When they buy and price goes down they go on a similar rant such as yours and say its a scam because they lost money. If you bought APPLE or Facebook stock and it went down and you lost money, would you stop using Facebook or stop buying Apple products, probably not. So bitcoin is no different. Just buy during bear markets and sell during bull markets, and don't FOMO.

Ethereum? That coin Vitalik dumped in 2017 when it was peaking? Google this. He sold 130k ETH in 2017. If you were buying back then chances are you're holding Vitalik's bag and he's got 100m USD in the bank thanks to his believers (suckers).
Sure you can build on it but in the end it's still going to be a coin with no cap that someone created to make fiat money. It's not there to be a revolutionary decentralized private bank that you can hold in your pocket. It's there because ETH foundation wants to fill their pockets with fiat money at your expense.

The fact that Bitcoin is much more expensive that it was way back 10 years ago means Bitcoin is being adopted and it will never become worthless as long as people like us who support, use and spread awareness about Bitcoin is here.

It seems that someone bought bitcoin in bull run in 2017 because I don't see any other reason to be so negative about Bitcoin. China always had massive influence when it comes to mining power and news that regarding Bitcoin. It so happen that it matters to him to convince BITCOIN community not to buy bitcoin but he is an ethereum fan. There is nothing wrong with being Etehreum fan, I am an Ether fan too but I don't see why hate Bitcoin. Right now getting into any altcoin can be really troublesome. There volume and price is highly dependent upon the price movement of bitcoin. People are losing trust from crypto and in such a case, the most widely accepted coin with the max volume should only be trusted which is btc.

Well no need to argue about btc or eth as both coins have a huge following, hence they both have the support to make sure they don't lose value. Though of course, bitcoin is still the alphacoin whichever way you put it. And i don't many people will take you seriously when you call bitcoin crap. People compare Bitcoin to anything they hold. If they hold XRP then it's better than Bitcoin. If they hold ETH then it's better than Bitcoin. I have seen the same within stock market forums when I was still trading stocks.

That is because we're fixated in the fact that if you own something that means it's your possession. Tho these words are true, but in the case of cryptocurrency, it's actually not. It's like the stocks in a corporation, even tho a person owns the majority (by percentage) of the stocks, it doesn't mean that the person completely owns the corporation. But then again, in that case that person is probably in charge, hence the one who controls (most of it, that is). But for the case of cryptocurrency, no one really controls it, in fact, everyone has its own share (that's the beauty of cryptocurrency) so everyone possesses something but doesn't really translate as complete control.

I believe it was just because OP is really mad at the current situation but thinking if one or two countries could manipulate the market, I don't think so.
Bitcoin is a growing investment which people would like to participate with and earned success in the future. But somehow we need to understand how the market-driven by whales which totally affect the trend. And not a thing we have to worry and lose our hopes but instead we need to keep believing and put trust into it.

I get my salary in Bitcoin, so no way am I going to say NO to owning it or earning it. Secondly, what is worse? BITCOIN which at least has some decentralized aspects? Or Fiat, which is constantly over inflated by central banks and corrupt governance, ruined generations of people and put them into poverty by the practises of so called bail outs and quantitative easing? I only take out to my bank what I need every month and rest what is left I hold in BTC, or invest and diversify into other assets accordingly and one day if I can bypass Fiat completely I will. We know Bitcoin isn't perfect, but it has a lot more transparency behind it, plus the limited supply makes it much more favorable in my eyes. Anyway this is just my personal opinion of course. There are more and more reasons I could give as to why I prefer Bitcoin to Fiat, but we can leave that for another day I guess.

There's only one reason why people could hate bitcoin and cryptocurrency the most, in the case of the OP, he might invested too much and putted his trust to bitcoin with an all out investment and might turned out to lose in the market. Everyone has right to express his/her opinion till it hurts someone. Your views about Bitcoin may stop you to buy it but many people still think Bicoint is worth buying. This is only the investment which can grow multiple times with time as compared to any other investment, of course the same level of risk is also involved. I think it's a great time to buy because all the selling pressure comes from fear. When selling pressure comes from fundamentals or uncertainties about the project itself it's a time to sell. When all it comes from manipulation or fear it's always a good time to buy.

We definitely need more decentralization and I agree that Bitmain along with their affiliate pools hold way too much percentage of mining activity. This will have implications in the future as countries that could affort cheap mining have either banned it or they still don't see the benefits in it.
I wouldn't mind much about it though. Bitmain has competition in their hardware production and it is not hard to compete with them and take a large percentage of their share. I think something like this will happen soon as there are plans for mining farms that will provide real decentralization of mining worldwide. There are plans rest assured.

Would it be better to believe that since most of the mining facilities are owned by chinese, this is a positive implicatiom that bitcoin is in good hands in terms of population and adoption? Because most of the time, we suffer from lack pf support and with all the support given by chinese people, we have strong nodes and huge hashes to have reliable transaction though, one thing I doesn't like is the power consumption of bitcoin and its effect to our environment.
