MapleCoin is an all new fork of the LiteCoin project that branched from BitCoin. MapleCoin is the National Crypto-Currency of Canada. As a Crypto-Currency, MapleCoin is uniquely qualified to hold and preserve the wealth of a nation. MapleCoin will create a stable economic foundation upon which Canada can continue to build lasting wealth and prosperity. And MapleCoin will take it's place in the world of Crypto-Currency as a solid Alt Coin backed by the unique legacy of Canada. The entire world will benefit from MapleCoin, and all are welcome to join our community.

Name: MapleCoin - Version 0.8.1 BETA
Symbol: MPL
NO Pre-Mine
Based on latest Bitcoin/LiteCoin 0.8.99 source
Using Scrypt Mining
Block Target: 120 seconds
Difficulty Re-Targets every 4 blocks based on last 90 blocks (Quick Difficulty Readjustment)
Block reward: 5000 MPL halving every 241920 blocks (about 12 month)
Total coin mined: 2.4192 billion MPL
2.4192 billion coins will be mined in approx. first 5 years
Transaction Confirmations Needed: 5
Listen port: 11425

MapleCoin will be launched "klondike style", with absolutely no pre-mine - in a fair, open and democratic manner.

As the countdown timer to Public Launch of MapleCoin winds down to zero, the MapleCoin Development Team will issue a series of tweets which will release the MapleCoin software and mining instructions to the world. MapleCoin is a Scrypt mined coin, and so everyone will be able to mine at the same time - initially even directly from the MapleCoin Wallet/Client.

Coin is live and mining fine, can still solo, not for long though. I have a chunk of MPL I can sell if anyone is interested, PM with inquiries.

For all the criticism of the dev behind this coin, the only thing it boils down to for me is: profit. Regardless of the professionalism/character of this developer in previous projects, he did launch this without a single speedbump, had a great execution, and will probably be fully dedicated to see this listed and promoted - I just think he's ok with keeping it a bit quiet while the difficulty is low. Well, I've had my hours of mining quietly in the small crowd and now I'm blowing the whistle - let's kick it up!

scamcoin or legit, it falls into the poisonous category of dilutioncoin.

Time to put a control shot in the head of this shitbox.  If you bring nothing new to the table, you bring a dilutioncoin to the market.  Coingen servers should be carpet bombed, and dilutioncoin devs should be DDoS'd into ash.

It's not 27 different virus warnings, it's the same coin miner related false-positive from different AV brands as many other wallets. The wallet is NOT a virus.

yes I know, but there are actually about 8 different virus catches. I know minerd triggers it, not my first go around. Never seen a file with so many warnings is what i am saying.

Don't get me wrong, still mining it, but my coins sit on the pool till I'm sure.  Or until I fire up my VM , which ever comes first :)

Again, that is INCORRECT. ALL the virus alerts refer to 'Bitcoin Miner' functionality of the wallet, which as it even says in the report, is NOT a virus. Provide a link for a scan that says there are 8 different viruses as you claim.

There is not official crypto currency of Canada, nothing endorsed by government, or people for that matter.  Hate that all these coins are now trying to claim association with specific countries - they are all going to fail on that front for the most part.  Defeats some of the purpose of cryptos in the first place!

Stop supporting every piece of shit that comes out!!

Stop fucking mining every god damn coin. What the fuck is wrong with you people?
You people are ruining the altcoin market.
There is not enough money in the market for all these coins to rise in price. Every hash you put towards shit copycoins like this is a hash taken away from more deserving coins.

Lower hashrate = lower difficulty = lower price = lower adoption.

Fucking fuck, you people make me sick!

Yes, I'm fucking butthurt. Coins are down across the board because of this shit.
Just stop it.
If its got nothing new or innovative, say no.
If everyone stuck to a handful of deserving innovative coins, those coins would all rise in price and everyone would benefit.
Instead you guys spread us too thinly over everything.

If you mine a litecoin copy with no new features in 2014 you are a fucking tool and contributing to the detriment of the community and future of cryptocurrencies in general.

If you mine a litecoin copy with no new features in 2014 you are a fucking tool and contributing to the detriment of the community and future of cryptocurrencies in general.

The wallet software was released with a rootkit set to download all those wallet private keys including BTC and other alternate coins. I have disassembled as much code as I can and it looks like I got a few good HOOKs leading back to were the private keys are being sent to (FTP). Thanks to the devs who added this rootkit and thanks to all the dumbasses who installed this. I've gotten over 0.4 BTC, thousands of MOON coins, 100k+ DOGE and a bunch of other ALT Coin not worth much.

I would have more but the devs have been getting to most of the private keys before I can.

Wallets are indeed not completed. However, the blockchain is fine and wallets have basic function. Coins are all safe! I disagree that dev is scam developer. Whatever. This coin is not a scam coin. I am not saying to drop everything and mine it now. But, be warned. This coin is solid and when the wallets are polished, you will want to be mining this. That is all.

The coin has not been well released, and there definitely seems to be a lack of presence; i.e.; web site down, delayed responses in forums, if any, etc.  Compared to many of the other coins, it's lacking.

Canadians are proud people, and are some of the most advanced bitcoin Users in the world.  Although we are itching to get behind something like this, if it's not done right, with the people in mind, this will flop BIG time!  And, alternatively, someone else will make a good go of the concept, using the coin for everything - including partnering with sugar bush providers to give Maple Syrup on a stick for coins (free coins given out), as the tree sap leaks from the trees in much of Canada right now!  That's what I'm talking about.  lol

I wouldn't say mazacoin is necessarily a scam. The creators just made a ton of mistakes ... and Payu evidently signed on a less than professional dev. I'm not sure if AP is still with maza or not, but Boxxa is.

Interestingly Ap/Boxxa has also been accused of stealing away Greececoin. And Australia Coin strangely has the same announcement font/appearance as Greececoin does. They may be churning out nation coins, I suppose.

understood -- and BTW these nation coins (I mean those that usually come as "countryName" plus "coin") are some of the dumbest ideas in the entire Crypto space anyway, defying the entire concept of what DECENTRALIZED p2p Crypto coins or wider "Bitcoin Neutrality" should be.

Greececoin, Australiacoin, Germanycoin, Nigeriacoin, Spaincoin, BullCityCoin and even EuroCoin, MeditarraneanCoin and Auroracoin (the row of idiocities is endless) -- they all failed to get the first thing/basic concept of real Cryptos (even if they claim they were supposedly "open" to "outsiders" which they are not really), namely that they can only succeed if used internationally. Focusing on ANY geographic area preempts the whole BTC concept (as well as the one of viable Altcoins) though!

Let them all fail as miserably as they deserve, this is what *competition among currencies* is all about. Let the free market decide -- and soon (for the sake of saving unnecessary hashing power and tons of CO2 and electricity wasted)...

I'm not very fond of most nation coins either. I expect it all will burn out eventually, or perhaps they have already. That said, there could be some valid reasons for a geographical region to support their own coin.
Maza is one example, due to possible govt. interference with indians adopting bitcoin. Same for Iceland, if I recall correctly... although of course all it would take is for their govt. to regulate AUR, to put it in the same boat as bitcoin.

Most other 'nations'... nah... there could be perceived reasons for a specific coin, such as that dutch coin playing on sentimentality, or greececoin helping poor people, but in reality I don't think either will work out. And in the latter case, it is more of a made up reason from the devs to just make money. I wouldn't be surprised to see duplicate nation coins next, once all the popular nations are used up. Hopefully this whole thing dies off before it comes to that though.

Edit: And just now I see another Gulden coin is being released, making it two Dutch coins. It evidently has begun already.

Gotta disagree on this.  lol  You're pretty much arguing there should only be 1 coin for everything, geography aside;  like Bitcoin could serve the purpose of all. Possibly, but much better to not.

Just like existing currencies, there can be many reasons for having a unique crypto currency for countries.  The price of bacon in Canada is different than in Greece.  The price of gas is different in Canada and the US…although a gas coin could confuse that.  lol  Isolating value to the crypto currency, as we have done via the papered currency, serves no harm. As well, there may be other unique properties that relate only to Canadians (i.e.; Cdn highway tolls, Cdn taxes (some day…lol), Cdn beer, Cdn maple syrup, Cdn smokes, Cdn poutine, Cdn Beavertails, etc.), where a MapleCoin may some day enhance your purchase?  It might just take away the notion of how/what things are in other countries, and allow everyone to deal within the scope of our own products, within the distribution of our country, as the dollar does.  In many ways it's cleaner, and easier for some people to grasp?

Why not have more?  In the same way the govt's spew paper money within their country borders? it's only digital computations?  Why not segregate some of these computations to build localized coins?  If they can all have value some day, assuming the hundreds of millions of dollars being invested to bring the digital currencies to the mass population, then why not?  I would much rather own some MapleCoin here in Canada, than Bitcoin, if I can acquire the same value and usability for the comparative number of coins.

Then again, some countries are more proud than others…I wouldn't own a Quebec coin before a MapleCoin.  lol

I also believe the crypto currencies could replace the existing dollar some day, so I am way-out there.  :-)

sure -- good points.

I still don't see why these should not be handled by ANY kind of Altcoin, i e I don't think that the concept of a *nation* coin is necessary or even appropriate for "cyberspace" as it is traditionally borderLESS.

Also, I am NOT against multiple Crypto currencies -- quite the contrary, I think it's necessary to fix Bitcoin's, and Litecoin's etc for that matter, flaws and have competing concepts and systems in Cryptoland.

When it comes to taking care of particular cuontries' particular customs, conventions, facts of life, local price differences  etc, I still don't see why this should not be handled by ANY kind of Crypto currency (or fiat) as prices can be adapted or converted as we are used to. I mean, a loaf of bread could easily be BTC 0.0091 in the U. S. or BTC 0.00079 in Mexico with similar weightings if dealing in litecoins, mintcoins,  doge, or peercoins ...?

While I hope for a healthy amount of competing Crypto currencies that bring technological aspects of their own to the table each, I just don't want to see our "new found" internationalization and chances of borderless commerce and zero-cost transactions go away for some renewed and narrow-minded local compartmentalization caused by "nation coins" replacing more universal ones.

Good points too.

I am mixed as to what I believe will be successful in the crypto currency world in the years to come.  There's a lot of $ being invested to bring the technology to the people (000's of millions).  How this will happen has yet to be seen.  My guess is that there will be new ways to use digital currencies popping up all over the place. I can see new technology making well structured coins/APIs easy to be used by merchants; that's the obvious improvement/advancement.  What will make one coin more desirable than another, I don't know.  I am not speaking from a technical perspective, as I have a good understanding as to that area, I am just saying I cannot predict how the non-technical person will choose which coin is appropriate, if multiple options are presented to them…example; to purchase everything from Canadian Maple syrup, to new cars?  Maybe they will choose to use "their" country coins, to try and spur "their" growth, like a local economy? Maybe there will be local rewards for using MapleCoin someday (like 50% off hockey pucks @ Canadian Tire)?  lol Maybe passion, politics, sports, ???, will play a role in their decision to use different coins; if the technology advances to the point where they can use many?

Time will tell.  Hopefully there's a lot more coins in the picture in 5 years, and hopefully those will be some of the ones I have mined  :-)

maaybe this coin could be a commodity coin, like URO, as opposed to a country coin...

1 maplecoin = 1 bottle of maple syrup

1. Setup a Distributed maple syrup Exchange for international trade

2. Provide a medium of exchange stabilized via backing to the true and undeniable international value of maple syrup

3. A Distributed maple syrup Exchange...

i concur,

will work on contacting maple syrup producers to accept MPL..

The dev already had that set up, and I had even asked what shipping would be on several bottles of syrup.  I would share the link, but it seems the website is down. Here was the announcement.

Would love for this coin to revive itself, but I think it's dead for good. Just like all the other developers coins. Being taken off Bittrex and 0 miners is not a good sign.

Yeah, I like this coin too and wish it success. Not to mention that I mined several million.

Update:  Crypt OTC was nice enough to add Maplecoin upon my request, so I will be putting some up for exchange if anyone is interested.   http://www.cryptotc.us/market#MPL (http://www.cryptotc.us/market#MPL)
