I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin?

altcoins that are worth investing in are of course the top altcoins ;D
those who say "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin" are those who overly believe in new projects without thinking about the risks.

There are many live and dead coins but I would say not coins tagged dead totally dead as some do stay for some years and resurface and which is exactly what's happening now as we can see some old coins rising back so I would say anyone trying to invest in any platform should always do good research before investing. For myyears of experience in cryptocurrencies, one can never really say any altcoins can be trusted or else the altcoins that has been in existence for the pass few years. When ETH too started, it was like a play. Second to Bitcoin now in terms of how popular it it and how it is generally known for making transaction globally. But you can also check the like of xlm, trx, bch, and Oikos, though a new project, but presently it doing fine.

Check the coin rankings on coinmarketcap. See their rankings from top to bottom and research through reading the website, joining the community, and by reading their announcement threads. By doing that, you will get to know if they work hard for the project.
Because if the same question you'll ask just like the rest, there will be an unstoppable shilling that will happen.

Well, let me tell you that 90% of all altcoins are shit coins; while dead coin are tokens that d not offer any form of importance or value; they are mostly delisted or exitscam. There are lots of projects in crypto-verse that have huge potential.
Some project takes some time to grow were as some projects turn out to be a scam. That's the reason we should always be patient and thoroughly research the project you are investing in. The project that I think have huge potential are DMG and FET

Go to coinmarketcap and look for altcoins in the top 100. I believe they are the best altcoins and have potential for future development. Don't waste your time on bullshit projects outside the top 100 because in the future it will collapse and make you lose.

Regarding investment potential BTC will not only be the first  choice, another coin like  ETH and other all coin/token potential  you can invest with good selection and the right and have been known by people , that  mean rotation will be fast and not wait long.

If you have zero knowledge about how crypto works it's better to go for Bitcoin and Ethereum, they will give you the best result with zero loss unless you are too impatience but if you are so interested in altcoins then don't look less than top20 on CMC.

I recommend checking out coinmarketcap and choose between top 10 to top 20, you need learn about things like what makes a project better than the rest, which is their use case and some use case aren't needed in crypto too, I suggest you start learning and doing research with your spare time

Sometimes I wonder what people really look at in the space. We have the CMC, coingecko etc other chats that show the trend in the year, so many new ATH among altcoins in last 2-3 months and some still want approval to join altcoin, maybe to get anyone responsible for their loss. In crypto get your gut to risk the investment and sometimes are safer. Multiply your bitcoin even your ethereum with altcoins, how sweet to see pump among alts when bitcoin sit with $9000-10000 for over 2 months.

Bitcoin is really profitable and this is why majority of the people are into bitcoin investment but if you want to be more profitable, invest also in potential altcoins that are on top on the list of coinmarket cap. Top 20 coins by market cap should suit OP since obviously he is a newbie in crypto space to reduce risk. The issue now is spotting the right coin amongst the top 20 to invest in. I think OP should check coinmarketcal and also icodrops to know which projects keep up with development and go for it.

you really have to carry out a research and choose your Altcoin wisely . some of them are worth investing in depending on the potential you see in them but some are not worth it at all.  Look at the project features level of development and  the activities of Team to know the best  Altcoin to buy per time.

Right, a simple way to see potential coins is to choose coins in top 10-20 Coinmarketcap, or you can also choose a successful new project and their tokens are already registered on a large Exchange, like IPX. I personally still hold some IPX for my long-term investment.

We cannot rely the fact that there's so many coins and projects  itself that already died. I know a very promising project that supposedly become great  in the future. Its uniqueness and already create their bank but in the end they been shutdown. I suggest if you want to be safe try to invest in top cryptocurrency and make some own review.

Block's reward halving does not mean the price will go up or at least it wont happen instantly. Take a look on recent Bitcoin halving - the price is still around $9k or I would say it has decreased a bit. Depending on the kind of trade you are looking at. If for long term then buy the top coins. For short term some coins are currently doing amazing which are the Defi related coins. A token that I also look at that is currently under valued is Kardiachain (KAI)

Any altcoin among the top 10 is worth to be a long term investment. It's up to your personal liking to decide which it suits your taste in cryptocurrency (aim, inovation, technology behind it,...).

Many altcoins are there in fact thousands of them but without you checking and doing some monitoring you may not be able to buy the good one. Not every altcoin should we take the risk to buy. Some of them are already on the verge of disappearance and buying them might tie down your fund and you would never be able to recover it again. It once happened to me. The coin was delisted and was not trading on any other exchange because others have also delisted the coin. For me if I'm gonna invest without doing any research, I'm gonna invest in ethereum and binance. Finding gems are hard without digging deep, finding low cap projects that are good are really hard to find.

Once this altcoin was in top10 and cost more than $3. After its founder sold most of his coins, Waves price began to go down and not its price is less than $2 and altcoin is in #58 (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/waves/ratings/).

Because if we do invest in altcoin that is already trusted it is not that risky as investing into new altcoin.

Theres a lot of good coins are really worth to buy especially top coins in Coinmarketcap, most of that coins really have a good development and big supporters.
But, i personally only invest in BNB and BTC.

I myself am an investor in them and I think these coins are the most reasonable solution.

For me, it all boils down to the question as to what would be the alt coin that would be the best investment out of all the altcoins. Sure you can invest in many, but there is really one that would stay at the very top of the alts. And for me the coin that would be considered 2nd best of all cryptocurrencies would be Ethereum. If you have ETH, don't sell it, instead get more of ETH because being the second top crypto we will see its rise in a few years. Maybe ETH will reach its first 10k in a few years.

There are a lot of altcoins that are good to invest in. You just have to do some extensive research to verify each altcoin's potential. ETH and Litecoin are great investment options in 2021. ETH has set a record high of nearly 1,400 dollars in 2021, and while litecoin had a record high of 371 back in 2017, atleast it's not far gone from its current value of 122 dollars.  For now, im sticking with these two since they dont usually flactuate to the point of almost no value. It's just a personal preference but you can try other altcoins if you want.

I would recommend not to make a decision whether buying an altcoin or not based on the top. Today an altcoin is in it, tomorrow it hundred positions lower. Ripple is a great example. Once it was on the third place, now it is seventh. If they failed to cope with SEC claims, Ripples price will most probably go even lower.

I don't know why so many people are recommending Ethereum. A lot of users are angry with Ethereum right now, because of the extremely high fees. I have seen bounty hunters paying as much $20 to move their tokens. And every time the developers are giving the same old excuse that ETH 2.0 is going to resolve this issue. There is a little "no" why BNB would not cost 4 digit number. As I remember, BNB main purpose is to reduce trading fee when trading on Binance.com, and one of the other purpose is to allow holders to participate in competitions or other benefits. If we image that BNB price is $1,000 will it still be used as a fee for a trade? I think people then would use traded altcoin as a fee payment, instead of using BNB. Right now, if you hold 50 BNB, you automatically participate in airdrops/giveaways/competitions. But since airdrops/giveaways/competitions budget is very low, who would in clear mind freeze $50k in BNB to get $5-10? Also, if I hold 50 BNB, I would get 2% cashback (instead of 1%) when using Binance card. Would holding $50k be wise to get extra 1%, when cards daily limit is only  EUR 8,700 for purchases and EUR 290 for withdrawal (dont know USD equivalent, as I'm a EUR user).

ADA is a great choice for long term investment. The team that developed this project is quite serious and the community must be able to increase trust in a project like this. The future potential for ADA is still very large, the competition will still be there and that is what makes it even better. I have been thinking of buying some ADA as asset that I will hold on to in the long term.

Yeah ADA was been my investment since 0.28$ and has payed off really good last couple of months. I think it has still a lot of room to grow with all things incoming for them.
