Title: In my school, Bitcoin is now becoming a subject
Post by: dupee419 on November 29, 2020, 09:49:29 AM
I don't know if we're the same but in this school year (2020-2021) Bitcoin is now being introduced to our school, although it may not be introduced to other courses, since I am currently taking Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) hence, we are to take Bitcoin and the history of BTC. It's actually great that schools are putting Bitcoin to their curriculum, with that, I got to share my experience with Bitcoin, I got the chance to share my knowledge about the history of Bitcoin and how much I benefited from this.

I also decided to post it here because I think this is a big leap towards the future, from people doubting about Bitcoin and now, people are heavily relying on it, being informed, buying bitcoins, learning the ways on how to exactly earn bitcoins.

P.S - Okay, so for those who are asking on what country, type of school am I in, I currently live in the Philippines which is a third world country, a country that is not yet solidified when it comes to technology, and education that is not as advanced as it may seem, since we are focused on the main subjects, Bitcoin and the technology of Blockchain has unlikely entered, well, educationally speaking, but my school (a college institute) and probably many more has started off talking about Blockchain, there are no downsides to this since we are only talking about it and studying but they're not encouraging students just yet to become enthusiastic about Bitcoin, probably in the future.

No doubt this is a big leap towards the future. Now students will have information about bitcoin and with this information they have processed it towards however they want. I just hope that they do not teach it in negative manner like this is a thread for current currency system and the current currency system is the system which needs to stay.

I little curiosity: Which institute is this and which country you are talking about.

You did  not mentioned your country, but I guess your country is very much open to this technology which is really a good news, this is what happen when your government is very open to adopting Cryptocurrency they will go on their own way to educate their citizen about Cryptocurrency.

It's not just schools.
I teach kids in kindergarten and junior high and many of them have enrolled in courses which are related to Bitcoins and cryptocurrencies. They are very well aware of what Bitcoins and cryptocurrencies are and therefore I do believe that in the upcoming years they will be more open towards the concept of cryptos and will be experts.
At the same time when we talk about the universities , the universities are offering courses on cryptocurrencies and even Bitcoins, many students are enrolling in the same and teachers have to learn something very different.

Right know coronavirus is not the only content that is being created for the book to be read in future , after going strong for more then 10 years Bitcoins is finally being recognized.

It was great to hear that from you. Slowly but surely, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are being adopted in a massive way, like introducing them to schools. It is all about nonstop education to the masses on what really Bitcoin is all about, and explaining the real and positive use cases of it and not ending up to ponzi schemes. I like the fact that Bitcoin is now being added in the curriculum in some schools and universities worldwide.

Sounds great, eventually there will be (may be there is) totally separate course for cryptocurrency. Sadly in our local, there’s no way our ministry will consider adding such subjects. And still, most of the people have never heard the word Bitcoin.

Yes, at least an impartial approach is expected from schools when teaching about bitcoin.
Anyway, without any doubts it's a sign bitcoin is being recognized by traditional institutions and people are taking it more seriously now than in some years ago, when bitcoin was fully discredited and ignored by such institutions. If more colleges put bitcoin on their curriculum it can help bitcoin adoption increases among students and their families and some of them can become big investors.

There are a number of schools and universities that offer blockchain degrees (https://howtostudyblockchain.com/blockchain-degrees/), but how much (or no) learning about Bitcoin is there specifically? When it comes to the EU, I am familiar with the news published several times on our forum that the teaching of cryptocurrencies and BTC is being introduced in French schools (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5198165.0).

I think that any education about cryptocurrencies, especially BTC is welcome, because there are more and more scam schemes related to crypto and people need to learn what exactly it is about and how to protect themselves.

Here in the Philippines, Bitcoin and Blockchain are 2 topics that aren't tackled that much around here, that's why, well, in my case, it really is a big leap considering a third world country like ours.

I'm sure that the blockchain technology is mentioned in some courses about database management at our local university as well. I am not sure about Bitcoin though.
However Bitcoin is worthy of economic history and macroeconomic courses. One can make a lot of interesting case studies on it. From supply and demand analysis, market behaviour and sentiments and so much more.

Yeah, I hope they taught Bitcoin, Blockchain, or Cryptocurrency in my school days.

Philippines isn't that most advanced when it comes to technology but at least people here are supporting to new innovation so Bitcoin is getting a lot of traction. There's already seminars and some gatherings that tech about Blockchain and cryptocurrency. I hope that this continues till it reaches college.

I have also encounter one of the most known online platforms that offers subject courses and one of this courses was cryptocurrency from known universities in western countries and i wanted to enroll in it but sadly their enroll fee was high and i can't afford it yet. How i really wish that here in our country bitcoin will become one of the subjects to be teach in the universities but i guess it would take some time to be implemented.

I know that some countries have introduced school level courses on blockchain technology. Such courses have been introduced only because of the interest of the students. But launching a separate subject on specific bitcoin content is a really great decision. Students should have practice on these sophisticated technologies from the school level. This is a commendable initiative.

wow looks awesome when have application bitcoin as subject in the school, may I know where is your school located and how long bitcoin become as subject there. I think have procedure and allowed by government first to make bitcoin as legal payment transaction or only giving chance for student to know and get profit later with bitcoin and altcoin, I think very fantastic if my country want to make bitcoin and altcoin as subject in the school because many people will know with bitcoin during school and practice later how to trade and invest with bitcoin or altcoin later to earn much profit.

You guys are lucky to have that on your curriculum in this time of year. But, I guess it would be more relevant If you tackle more on blockchain technology than cryptocurrency or Bitcoin. Because there's a lot of things or computer related projects you can make with the use of blockchain, not much about Bitcoin, but a digital currency and a tool for investment.
Nevertheless, that's a good curriculum anyway.

Here,  More top 50 universities are now offering blockchain courses (https://www.studyinternational.com/2019/09/02/blockchain-courses-universities/).

But it's mostly in USA though, but I believed that other universities around the globe will recognised blockchain or crypto technology and they might include it as a regular in their curriculum. But I can't tell if they are going to focus on bitcoin though, probably could be inserted just a good example of what blockchain is and bitcoin as an example.

Actually, our subject is more lenient on the technology of Blockchain, I think they tried to tackle on the history of BTC first in order for the students to gain some idea on why Blockchain is involved with BTC, we also tackled other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, Ripple, BCH, and more, we also tackled this semester the technology of Blockchain and how it works.

This is really huge and great. It's glad tidings. At least the doubters will now know that Bitcoin and the entire crypto stuff have come to stay. People should begin to have confidence that it's not a bubble any more. For schools to have it as a part of their curricula means a lot. It's scholarly, just the way schools taught students Banking and Finance/Accounting to set in the banking era. It's interesting that Bitcoin is taking a centre stage now. Even the OP should've an edge on his course mates because of his earlier exposure to Bitcoin, and of the knowledge oozing from this forum too. Kudos! We are in for a new financial era. It's the bits era.

That will surely be a good start or should I say eye-opener for the new generation. It's a good thing that Bitcoin is being introduced to youth at an early age so they would have an idea about it if more adoptions would happen in the future. People really need enough learning and education about Bitcoin because that will be beneficial for both users and the market. I just wish that Bitcoin could also be introduced the same way in our country.

It is kind of surprising as I can see a bright future of bitcoin if this kind of happenings will continue to spread in most of the country that fully  accepts bitcoin.

Once more and more people will learn about bitcoin and it's existense then the demand of bitcoin will surely to increase. I will just hope that this kind of good news will also happen in our country where our school will start to discuss about bitcoin or bitcoin will be added to our curriculum.

Considering such leap you might from developed country and they will always keep it flexible when comes to the education. It's grim reality in our developing countries these things would be untouched forever since our system is solely based on the traditional learnings.

I'm impressed how yours is taking stuff like bitcoin so seriously. I barely doubt any individual would even think of such subject area in my country.

Now all we need to see how new generation take part in such subject areas and make things better for future information technology. :-)

It sure is a great step towards the new future, bitcoin is part of history now and it shouldn't be denied. Though I think it might've been introduced to you due to the specificity of your course. When I was getting my BSc degree and making presentations about cryptocurrencies I could sense a lot of distrust in my professors, even though it was during courses like the economy, investment business, one would think that these people should know better. Hopefully, it will change soon.

Out of curiosity, do they hire Bitcoin enthusiasts or they get people from the tech department and ask them to research and teach about bitcoin? It would be great if the tutors were actually individuals who have interest in Bitcoin as a Network.
Nevertheless, it is another small step in the right direction, innovations like emails and social media have been adopted into the educational sector. Bitcoin being the future of monetary network would also need such level of exposure to the future generations, so they can understand how it works and how best to handle it.

I would imagine it would take quite a while for such level of adoption to spread across the world, but with time countries not receptive to Bitcoin would realize that they are missing the train stuck with a failing system.

I am curious about your country and at what level is it taught? Because a while ago I read that there are indeed several universities that are opening courses on Blokchain / cryptocurency. If your country / university is a new major, that means more and more universities are opening blockchain / cryptocurency majors. This proves that the level of awareness of blockchain technology has great benefits for the future. Besides that, according to the sources I read, if I'm not mistaken the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cornell University,  University of California (Berkeley), Stanford University, Harvard University is a top five university according CoinDesk 2020 Blockchain University Rankings research.

This is something good for the growth of bitcoin and the widespread of bitcoin on all needs. Now getting added to the educational sector is much important and a needed one. Already several universities have started courses accepting bitcoin, and large number of universities have begun with blockchain courses.

This initiative will help a big leap forward as most users mentioned. In my country, even the people who are associated with the information technology doesn't know about bitcoin and blockchain. This scenario will change when similar steps were taken in my country.

This actions of adding Bitcoin in an educational venue shows a strong possibilities that more people will engaged and adopt this system, students and professors who acknoewledge the usages of this system are also be added to the potential investors and supporters of this chain, expect to have a much wider market more people will learn deeper in regards to this industry.

The idea of BTC and blockchain will become more and more known. This is why it is great to see the progress discussed in this thread that schools are making their students aware of the current circumstances, but I do think that this is the start of a new type of education, at least in the higher education system.

It is a real shame that up to secondary schools no subject is really there to teach children about finance and budgeting, so if blockchain and BTC altogether are to be introduced no doubt this will be a super slow introduction.

Nonetheless, the effect and impact BTC has and will continue to have on both local and global governments would create enough of a ripple effect which would be difficult to ignore. That is a fact!

That's a great idea of that school to teach their students about crypto currency because we are in a computer world and students should know everything happened in the internet including cryptocurrency.

Anyway, what is your school name and country? Hoping that it will become available in different schools and universities in all countries for crypto awareness.

The era of technology is advanced and it seems that students now know Bitcoin and they are focusing on analyzing it quite a lot.
In fact, this is also normal when the press in countries around the world are posting news about Bitcoin during this bull run. Paypal even had to open more services on Bitcoin transactions. I realize that this bodes well for the future of Bitcoin and the Crypto market. If more and more young people participate in this crypto market, surely the government has to propose a plan to support Bitcoin transactions with reasonable tax rates.

I can considered the educational system in my country as poor because some of the subjects and the information are not valid anymore wherein you cannot use it in the future. I actually like to see a schools in my country that are offering subjects about cryptocurrencies especially in the bitcoin. For me the students should be grateful especially if their schools adapt new system wherein they add teaching cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology in their new educational system.

The traditional system is not good anymore and there should update because knowledge is keep increasing every year and we should be stagnant because we will not have any progress if the educational institutions keep teaching the subjects and the courses that doesn't important wherein it is considered as waste of effort and time.

Probably in line with economics, right? I am actually open with the idea of a revolutionary currency wherein it is a form of investment and a digital currency at the same time which I think is something not in line with the norm. Spreading knowledge regarding this technology would be a huge help since there is a rapid increase with companies making it a requirement for an individual to be knowledgeable with trading.
Quite outdated but recent articles support the claim on the link below:

https://www.glassdoor.com/research/rise-in-bitcoin-jobs/

But I guess this won't be necessary to all professions so pushing further won't be a mandatory.

It's not bad news, though I'm not sure I'd call it a "good thing". If academics are objective, then you can't be ignoring what's been happening now for the past ten years in IT and in economics -- like it or not, Bitcoin and the blockchain technology it's popularised are a part of history now. It's no longer about whether you accept it, it's how long you're going to deny it.

It'd be irresponsible for institutions of higher learning to ignore these developments.

Well, this is really great news, -- imagine the number of students who will become aware of bitcoin and the reality that even schools now are starting to make the younger generations adopt the cryptocurrency. The mere fact that it has already been acquired to the BSIT curriculum rest assure it will expand and be added to other courses in the succeeding school year. Looking forward, there is a big chance that it will be included in the grade school level curriculum for currency same as what we had when we were first introduced by our teachers to the different value and amount of money. The absolute global adoption of bitcoin perhaps is not far from now.

It is a pretty improvement on the education system to include a course about Bitcoin into your program which is BSIT that is really a continuously improving program since it relies on the technology that is also continuously growing. It is a good news then for it is a big step towards better understanding and to acquire more knowledge about a specific topic which is Bitcoin. For sure the programs that will include Bitcoin into their courses would come into more numbers as time goes by for BSIT is not the only subject concerned on technology. Looking forward that even on lower levels of education system may adapt having a discussion about Bitcoin for it is the present and future that will enable people to understand and make use of it better and have a greater perception about it.

Very good news if your school is really starting to introduce Bitcoin, it looks like you come from a country that has legalized Bitcoin.
Because not all schools consider Bitcoin worth studying, I am sure if many schools are introducing Bitcoin, will increase people's awareness
that Bitcoin is a technology that must be developed to be able to help the country's economy. Due to the fact that many people have
improved their economy because of Bitcoin.

No doubt about that! Bitcoin being included as your subject is indeed a big leap towards adoption. And knowing that you are a living proof on how it can be beneficial to people, your classmates and others in your school will surely be impressed. Better yet, they will finally involve themselves to this breakthrough.

I hope that other schools will also start implementing it. Kudos to your school for making a great move!

To be honest, it should not be bitcoin that will be center in the subject curriculum. The better thing that they should focus on is blockchain technology and network because bitcoin is just scratching the surface. It will be a milestone but if you want a future generation that will create and upgrade the whole thing, I think that the curriculum must focus more on blockchain technology.

Schools in countries in the world should start introducing and creating a curriculum about bitcoin early on before mass adoption and a surge in the number of users actually occur. At least the lesson contains basic technical and historical information. It will be more effective to increase students' insight and caution about the use of this type of currency.

It's nice to hear (especially that we are in the same country) that your school or your professor is open about teaching and educating you about bitcoin. I'm curious if your school will include a specific discussion about bitcoin as part of your course program, or it was just being discussed/introduced by your prof? It's still nice because your other classmates might have no idea what is bitcoin can also learn even just the basic one.

Bitcoin and Blockchain become recognized in financial technology since several years ago, hence many schools and university introduced bitcoin and blockchain to their curriculum especially countries in the EU, US, and Australia. However, only a few countries in Asia have introduced information and guidelines on virtual currencies  such as in Japan, Thailand, and South Korea (https://news.bitcoin.com/crypto-learning-centers-japan-thailand-south-korea/).

The University of California is just one elite US establishment now offering a course on digital currencies, along with Pennsylvania, New York and Stanford universities. source (https://www.express.co.uk/finance/city/975254/bitcoin-news-today-cryptocurrency-schools-education-university-course)

Well I could not believe for you might be saying the truth or probably you are just making some story to get the attention of the members here in the forum. But whatever it is if it really being introduce in your school then bitcoin has already been considered to be adapted even the government agencies are seeing it already as a subject that can change how the financial aspect could be in the future with bitcoin system. There is a high chance that government will going to accept bitcoin for the community consumption and when that happens to all forum members here that has BTC holdings then I guarantee you can be rich anytime soon when demand will going to be high while only having 21M bitcoins supply.

This is good that bitcoin is now accepted around you or teaching in your school. It is an addition to others that we know about because this is not the first time but you can provide us with the information of your country and school so we have the good knowledge when we speak about it.

No doubt this is a big leap towards the future. Now students will have information about bitcoin and with this information they have processed it towards however they want. I just hope that they do not teach it in negative manner like this is a thread for current currency system and the current currency system is the system which needs to stay.

They should also know the risks that includes in bitcoin because it is not always a win-win currency.

Also, they should teach them about its no.1 enemy scammers and fake schemes so that they are knowledgeable about preventing themselves to fall for those.

Bitcoin is much popular right now so they should expect that there are a lot of criminals who will urge to scam them or take their assets away. As bitcoin is already circulating in some schools or courses, they should invest on it and try it so that they totally become familiarized with it.

You're right, the majority of bitcoin users and legality in several countries of the world are different. I think this is a major factor in the development of study and discuss about blockchain or cryptocurency officially recognized by the government. Countries with the principle of legality are allowed I think it will be easy to find study and discuss, curriculum or courses on blockchain and vice versa. In my own country, I have never heard of blockchain cryptocurency, but when it comes to cryptography there is some research on this matter.

It will indeed going to be a big leap to the future if the one who is going to teach you is knowledgeable about the subject, because if they are just going to randomly give it to a vacant teacher who's not fully loaded of units yet, then it's a waste. Bitcoin subject is a broad land to be tackled carefully piece by piece in order to understand it's nature.

But this has an advantage, you know what? Well if students will be addicted on studying Bitcoin and starts earning big on it, they will lose their interest in the rest of the subjects and might not continue their studies anymore, just like me (I'm not kidding).

I like to see the syllabus and the recommended books of your teacher, just if I can recommend for any interested here. Bitcoin has a very short history that can be thought in 2 classes but I think concern should be placed on the technology, safety and economics. As the most profitable asset in the last decade there should motivation for student to hold bitcoin, altcoins and engage the use cases. I also feel the examination should come from those important applicable cases of bitcoin and altcoins

Schools in my country do not care much about bitcoin. They do not think that bitcoin is a good subject to be taught in schoolm though,I dont expect much in the education. We have already had the Internet. If they truly want to learn about bitcoin, they will know where to find sources of information

Luckily, people around here are chitchating about bitcoin a lot since it gains a big momentum from investors. New ATH has been set up. We are heading to $30000.

Great thought by the school to include this in your subject and from initial days only knowledge being imparted to the fellow students. This is a good beginning and hopefully many other universities in different countries will  follow this and will include some sort of syllabus in their schools to atleast make them aware about it.
Hoping more University will teach the bitcoin on how to invest to the cryptocurrency because it is great opportunity to the fresh graduate or student to have income or have a good investment for their good future.

But lets be honest many people who are close minded are not agree to this but soon they realize how does it helpful or important for the person who wants to earn a lot of money and it is one of the best online opportunity that we have right now.

I don't know if there is a school or university in my country that teaches student about bitcoin, but it looks like it hasn't and it will take some time. This step can also be interpreted as a way to help bitcoin become more popular among students.

From seminars to tutorials now to lectures, it is a advantage to every BSIT students since they will be able to learn it in school since only few will be interested to research it, I remember I just discover it thru crypto ads but didn't mind it at first then just try it and studied it on my own, now it will give students the idea of what it is and they can use it to earn while studying if they will take it seriously like studying how to trade or to use it.

Children in schools and adults in universities should have a chance to learn about Bitcoin. I remember my teacher years ago before Bitcoin having discussed to the class about all forms of money that existed and remember saying something about cypherpunks and how they were looking into ways to create internet money. I clearly remember this because it was probably the first time I heard of the cypherpunk term. It was very futuristic and something that was engraved in my memory.

Its a good news that there are already some schools that do consider on adding up Bitcoin subject into their curriculum but to say that this is just a rare case where not all would really be having that kind of considering
or kind of adoption.Good thing that your school had really this subject which would really be a big leap towards adoption and awareness yet this one will really mold up new people that would dive in into cryptospace.
This is a good news but to know that not all government wont be allowing such integration in educational sector. So this one will vary on countries laws and jurisdiction since not all would really be having that kind
of positive insights towards bitcoin and thats the reality but well we know that not all would really be against on it and this proves out that adoption is on the move.

Oh nice, you're very lucky that you have a school that teaches about Bitcoin, it's pretty rare since some school doesn't adopt any modern applications, always teaching the traditional applications in subjects. I guess in the near future, most of the universities will now teach about bitcoin especially the blockchain, which is next-gen technology.

This is a huge start for bitcoin and it might get stronger if many people adopted the use of it. Also, it's a great opportunity for them since some of us are struggling to learn about it and they're learning it at a school with modules. If they've learned it early, you guys can innovate something or create a development for cryptocurrency.

That is one of rare examples. Usually schools are not so fast in changing curriculum and introducing new technologies education, especially like Bitcoin. But it definitely could be an example and it's something that students will benefit in the future. Every knowledge they get about Bitcoin will open their horizons.
Quite true especially to areas wherein this technology is having not much of a support regarding its usage. I do think it is a bit revolutionary despite of the idea that this technology is getting more attention especially at this moment, from the masses. At first I just thought this is a kind of a brought up topic as subject-related, and not actually a course. But I saw courses online regarding this technology. It is just still new to my awareness that schools will offer such, to their students because most of the time, only things related to a profession are being though inside premises and institutions.

That situation will happen again and again. There will be newcomers that will not do their own risk assessment as they wanted to ride the current hype, even if they have no knowledge about it. So I am certain, with this current bull run, there are also new crypto users that bought their first btc hoping that one day, they will get huge profits from.

On the note that crypto or bitcoin has already penetrated the academe, I guess some institutions have long been introduced the world of crypto or blockchain technology. But it is good that some schools are continuously adding new technology in their courses. In that way, their students will be aware of what's going on and have the solid foundation to know about this technology.

That's a good development. Your school has joined other great schools that have already included Bitcoin and Blockchain in their undergraduate and graduate courses. It's good for the school because it will benefit them greatly in the near future as they will be positioned as one of the leaders in cryptocurrencies education.

When the university of Nicosia took the lead few years ago by offering an online certificate in Digital Currencies they knew that the world would soon embrace the technology behind bitcoin and the crypto itself. And that's exactly what is happening right now. More schools are getting on board.

I think it is very important to take digital currencies serious as they are our future. Maybe we won't use volatile cryptos as our currency but the governments will make their own digital currencies (btw some countries working on it already) and I believe that they will replace fiat in time.

Not sure about which country you live, but it’s good to know that bitcoin became a subject there. However, I wonder why they choose bitcoin over the blockchain as a subject, although it can be an introduction into blockchain technology.

Since the last few years, I regularly read about school or university that offers their student blockchain education. Some specific blockchain courses also provided by well known blockchain projects like NEM, etc. A good initiative that would be good to reduce the negative stigma from cryptocurrencies in general.

Actually, Bitcoin and also cryptocurrency are also very developed in my country. Although it is only a small introduction about BTC and crypto to formal education, but at least, there are many webinars and also course offered about crypto and specifically BTC on some campus. They seem likely to make partnership and also works with some crypto enthusiasts, communities, and also exchanges in order to hold several courses, webinars, and also communities about cryptocurrency. It is very different from what happened in 2018. The condition right now is that many people and institutions have been already open to the existence of the crypto world. And I am sure that this is a very great development of crypto. And I also believe that this is not only in my country but in many more countries, there will be many more acceptances of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. It is a matter of time.

It might just be exciting for banking and finance students to have a discussion regarding bitcoin and digital currencies. It could happen when CBDC is finally taking over.

It will be good if this includes topics from the creation of bitcoin like from programming and up to how it created value as a money, today I also see many online learning platforms that offers bitcoin programming and its really good initiative by school administrators that this will be included in curriculum students may be really curious about it since its a digital money really good topic.

Imagine if Bitcoin is being taught correctly on university and on special courses instead by some shills and FUDERS and so called experts, the world of Cryptocurrency will be better, because they will know what to look for and how to look and how to protect themselves from the wrong way, I'm looking forward to see Bitcoin as one of the subject here in our country.

That's good, bitcoin become a subject in school for early adoption and awareness of many students. I think young generation will become more interested in crypto once they have knowledge about it and they can make money or income through cryptocurrency. It will attract their attention, also young people are very attracted in many online opportunities and bitcoin is one these for sure.

Normal bitcoin suppose to be study very very well in university like order courses we do study university because many people who are interested into bitcoin don't know it better but when studying it as one of the related courses I think it will create a positive impacts in human especially those who willing to learn it perfectly.

It is not surprising that the blockchain is now being discussed and courses being created. Albeit there are already thick books dedicated to the study of Blockchain and its applications. So it is just a matter of who wants to teach the said discipline? Who wants to learn this new technology? Not all academia would want to have cryptocurrency as a course in their schools, especially those who are against the said technology. We just have to show these people that the technology is noble and that blockchain has many uses.

And I also believe that this is not only in my country but in many more countries, there will be many more acceptances of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. It is a matter of time.
Yes, I think learning technology from blockchain is not wrong, the government in my country only establishes crypto as a commodity. So in a country I have never heard of a university opening a course on crypto or blockchain. If it's like semiar, there are many webinars or courses. In line with these developments, perhaps this is influenced by a negative stigma because crypto is only considered a substitute for money so it is difficult to enter the curriculum. The government seems to be worried, the runaway nature of blockchain will have a negative impact. For the near future I don't think there will be a crypto / blockchain curriculum in my country yet.

in this time of the plague, Bitcoin will be very exciting when discussed, many people are curious about how to get money from Bitcoin so they will search for everything about Bitcoin. so should all universities in the world include Bitcoin into their subjects.

Because the world will not run without cryptocurrency in future world. So it's essential for educational system to share a good knowledge about to the youngsters.

I can't understand, where do you study? At school or at University? Because if you are taking Bachelor of Science, then logically you should be in university. If that's right, then it's very logical and necessary to add not only bitcoin but blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies as an additional subject. Not only on Science but personally I think that without doubt, everyone interested in finances and economics should know this! And at schools, I don't think there is any necessity to know things about bitcoin cause there users may see a lot of bad news around it, including it's usage in dark webs and in illegal things.

It's good to hear that more universities are placing bitcoin and blockchain in their curriculum, here in my school some teachers introduced my classmates to the blockchain world. We are taking the same course of study BSIT right now, most of my classmate doesn't believe in bitcoin but good thing is many have their eyes opened into bitcoin and the blockchain world and how it works.

I'm not sure that bitcoin is worth spending so much time at school. After all, not everyone will be interested in this knowledge.
I agree that not everyone will be interested in this topic but whose gonna lose the opportunity? Schools adding things like bitcoin and blockchain would be beneficial for those who see the true potential and power of crypto world and the blockchain.

Now we can say that they can really secure their future by studying every important information about cryptocurrency, especially bitcoin. Blockchain technology also takes an important role in cryptocurrency which serves as an innovative technology that is being supported by cryptocurrency. Not all academies are teaching this kind of subject, let us say that every college should approve that subject. Not only to help the students but to spread knowledge about cryptocurrency, so that as they grow older they are not ignorant of what cryptocurrency is.

Nice move by the universities accepting bitcoin as tuition fees. If one paid when bitcoin was very cheap then whatever the student gave the school would increase many times and the school would be able to get more cash one they converted that on a bull period. And I think after the previous bull run in 2017, then in my own opinion, they will adjust their prices based on that previous bull run so that they can be able to ask for much more amount of bitcoin on a bear season and the price might be more than what is the actual tuition fee so that in the bull period they would be able to encash it and get much much more dollars.

Yes, I agree with you, it is indeed a great leap towards the future, this is because, first it will change any misconceptions people hold about Bitcoin as they will be able to learn the truth and to a great extent, all about Bitcoin. Secondly it is a big leap towards the future because, as more people learn about Bitcoin, they will extend the knowledge to others and through that way, more people within your school and within the school location will also get to know and understand what Bitcoin offers.
Lastly, with this step, I believe with time more schools will gradually incorporate Bitcoin into their curriculum or courses thereby further expanding the knowledge thereof, also I believe with your school taking this step sooner than later they will likely start accepting Bitcoin for payment of tution; one step at a time and it will be actuallized.

wouldnt that be fair if i were the student of that school and im force to pay that high . they shouldnt make the tuition fee overpriced but its okay to adjust the fee from time to time because btc value is also changing but they should only match it based on the current value of btc that day and there will be no problems to student that are willing to use thier btc but if not then students are going to pay in fiat form instead . the school accept btc as payment but that school also have btc as thier subject ?

It's awesome to know that what many people can only happen in the distant future is already happening. Bitcoin being introduced into the school curriculum is a great leap towards the mass adoption of bitcoin in the mainstream world.
I believe people are beginning to see how bitcoin has benefitted people over the years and how it can benefit people more in the future. With bitcoin introduced in the curriculum, many who don't know what bitcoin is will be introduced to it and already bitcoin users will be free to share their experiences just like OP did.
I tell people that at this rate, it is only a matter of time before bitcoin becomes the worldwide currency.

That's quite good especially when Bitcoin itself becomes a topic not just in the conversation but also included in the lesson itself. I strongly think that it should not just be for Information Technology students or those who are taking Computer Science, but it should also be introduced to other courses especially those that are focusing on Business and Finance as they will be the one to encounter Bitcoin in the future. I remember when I visited a bank, they ask me tons of questions about what Bitcoin is all about since they are still uncertain of its value. These uncertainties should at least be fixed in the future as the students and the next generation will be packed with the general knowledge about Bitcoin.

School's are great place for children to learn about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. The next generation should be educated about how the coming years may form through Bitcoin, and how financial system can be much more optimized and stable and not be centralized. Which school is this? I can see their education system is not obsolete.

OP did not disclose where school he is going to. But seeing this kind of topics being talked about in their school is a sign that Philippines has a good future about bitcoin and blockchain techs. If more students will be taught about it then less scams would happen, people would be aware that it's not a currency used to scam which is commonly known here in that country.

This is one way to make the country more advanced in the world of cryptocurrencies. Applying Bitcoin to schools will help students gain a better understanding of how cryptocurrencies work, so they can compare them to fiat currencies. That way, if students learn about blockchain technology, this can be an illustration to understand the idea of decentralization in the mainstream's context.
Maybe they’re not fully blockchain experts, but teaching young people about cryptocurrencies, decentralization, and monetary systems is a good thing.

I am sure that if it also happens in other countries, the speculation that bitcoin is a scam will disappear and those who do not agree with it will definitely be able to think that they also need to learn about bitcoin so that they will not be left behind.

In general, it is wonderful that already in educational institutions they talk about bitcoin, as this has a positive effect on the development of the cryptocurrency sphere, as it encourages young people to learn something new and want to improve it, and I will not be surprised if the blockchain programming specialty appears in universities with time

Although blockchain related degrees are offered at the university level. But I think bitcoin and blockchain-based studies should be practiced from the school level, so that students can learn more about the workings of blockchain. I appreciate the students' interest in Bitcoin.
The way Bitcoin adoption is growing around the world, I think, one day the blockchain network will lead the whole world.

practical problems in each of these schools that may not be implemented properly, because they have to go through many stages such as the educational curriculum and also the interests of students. I think if everything has been agreed upon by many parties, it will be easy for Bitcoin to be in school

You are very lucky that Bitcoin subject was introduced in your school. It seems surprising to me, since schools are state organizations and they teach strictly what the states allow. As we all know here, these states are not very fond of Bitcoin. I think that Bitcoin and Blockchain as a subjects is possible only in technical institutes and in technical specialties. I doubt that in mainstream schools in most countries these subjects will be taught to ordinary people. If the general public is told about the benefits of Bitcoin in schools, governments will lose control of financial flows. We understand that people will stop using national currencies and rely on Bitcoin. State governments will not allow this, at least for now. Therefore, I believe that your case is unique on a global scale and I repeat, you and the students of your school are very lucky.

I'm thinking of adding bitcoin as a part of the course maybe when it comes to technology-related subjects we could somehow learn some about blockchain technology.

Mostly a lot of blockchain developers don't really have their own course but more like a self-taught online or online course but as blockchain technology is being trendy hopefully it will be added to some subjects on BSIT.

Hopefully, the more people will learn this the more bitcoin will easily adapt to a country because a lot of people still don't know what is a cryptocurrency and even bitcoin.

Even at a basic level, the promotion of bitcoin is very important. Bitcoin has not been released long ago.  still has high potential. People who are children today will be company managers or economists tomorrow. Maybe they will be president.  It is necessary to teach the technology of the future to future generations.

It seems people are starting to talk more about it. I am also living in a developing economy, and about a year ago when I asked my friends and relatives, people to know about the bad trends for btc, everyone thought it's not good. But things started to change as these people started coming back to find out what it was, and I was really happy that someone talked about my field of interest.
It is a good thing that people are talking about it more which could lead to more people learning about it which leads to more people getting curious and buying it. I find bitcoin becoming a subject in academy a bit too sudden because I find the current knowledge with bitcoin a little limited. I am living in a developing economy too but bitcoin and other related things about it seems to be not a focus of the current academic curriculum.

If bitcoin or crypto is taught for elementary level classes in my opinion it is impossible because elementary level children's minds will not be able to accommodate lessons about bitcoin which I think will be ignored because it is difficult for them to understand.
and what I know is that applying crypto or bitcoin lessons only high schools and universities tend to be easy to understand and will be directly involved, and what we see is the growth of bitcoin that millennials like today because it is taught in high schools and universities which are very easy to understand and in demand by them.

Maybe they could teach them in a grade 6 level but the basic principle only. It would be hard for them to absorb such kind of information if it would be such deep hence the subject of cryptocurrency wasn't easy as it seems. It was more suitable to teach it in a higher level of education where they can applied it in actual and it can add to their career choices which they would like to pursue. These might be a good choice and for sure these course will become in demand.

Though the university is not much familiar with Bitcoin and other cryptos, I am glad that a lot of young people are now curious with it and I know not only in your school, but also other areas of the country will accept Bitcoin and might even add it into the subjects for a specific programs and courses.

Now more and more students will be able to know more about bitcoin in your country So its a very positive step and further I believe it will help to gain the mass adoption of BTC in your country in the future. Hope such steps will be taken by other countries in the future.

There is a high chance that government will going to accept bitcoin for the community consumption and when that happens to all forum members here that has BTC holdings.
I'm curious if your school will include a specific discussion about bitcoin as part of your course program, or it was just being discussed/introduced by your prof?

In my environment around 2015 some people think Crypto is just a business that cannot be trusted, I have tried to convince that Crypto is very promising for the future and finally they are just convinced of the current price of Crypto. They are also looking to find out how to get instant access without knowing the basic knowledge and history of the development of Crypto through the Blokchain network.
After I saw this thread, I am very happy that Crypto really has to be studied first so that no one misunderstands its use because Crypto is an asset with its legality still being debated in some countries.

I do not know on the off chance that there's a school or university in my nation that instructs understudy almost bitcoin, but it looks like it hasn't and it'll take a few time. This step can too be deciphered as a way to assist bitcoin ended up more prevalent among understudies.

Interesting, this may spark a shift in the curriculum for the IT program not only on your institution/university but with the overall education system of the said program. Because there's no way bitcoin won't be included in the lessons of all institutions, either soon or in the future. Pillars of education that carry on lesson plans and stuff will catch wind of this and will have this included lest they risk their student being left behind.

This is very extraordinary, it will actually increase the development of bitcoin which is growing rapidly because they can provide tiered information to those who need what benefits can be received by those working on bitcoin. so much will be helped from the way it is done and it is fantastic.

There are many University who offer Master's Degree on Blockchain Technology,
In UK this subject is known as FinTech(Financial Technology). In FinTech they Apparently focused on Blockchain Technology.
But this is rare specific Bitcoin related subject, Really it's a great starting, people should learn about updated technology from school level.

Children get information much faster than adults. My cousin started learning informatics from second class at school (according to pupils program). Now she is in forth class and she already familiarized with basic programming modalities and can write a program. Think, it's really time to start learning about crypto and blockchain technology at school (maybe not at the primary school, but it must be obligatory at secondary school).

I do hope that the topic about bitcoin also focuses on the blockchain technology as a whole and its technicalities. People are actually underestimating the use of the blockchain and its modern application in our day-to-day activities. The true creation is on the blockchain as it eliminates the need for a third-party consensus in handling all of our monetary needs.

I applaud your school as they have acknowledged the limitless possibilities of the blockchain and bitcoin as its currency in the future. I also hope that other universities start to teach the same subject as what you have.

It may be a great thing that individuals are talking around it more which seem lead to more individuals learning around it which leads to more individuals getting inquisitive and buying it. I discover bitcoin getting to be a subject in institute a bit as well sudden since I discover the current information with bitcoin a small constrained. We live in globalisation and moder era of Blockchain and AI so it should be added in school and college level that young generation should be independent.

Actually, bitcoin isnt really just solely had been created just for making money but rather into its usage and relevance when it comes to new way payment system which is on the decentralized side.
It might not be that known for now but when schools do consider on adding up on the curriculum then that would really be a great thing but to think that schools are heavily regulated by
the government which means it would be needed first for the government to have some positive sentiment towards bitcoin or crypto as a whole before on making these things happen.
Adoption is on the move and on this way it will really be spreading up awareness even more into the masses.

I am happy for all the student who are going to become successful investor in crypto because it is being taught to them at their school.
It is a great step for crypto not just for Bitcoin to become a subject in school so that more people would be aware of it and know it properly,
Since there are still some who misunderstood it and thinks that it is a scam or illegal money.

This thread shows us that little by little, there's still progress that some of the country starts to adapt and accept bitcoin as a digital currency. We're just getting started to face the future.

This is the beginning of new era for BTC. Good to hear that your school has started this introductory course on Bitcoin.
This will make new adopters in future. It's time other school and colleges wake up to this new technology and incorporate it into their curriculum.

Happy to see that bitcoin is starting to be ubiquitous, it really is an advantage for those who hold bitcoin right now like us, however, around the topic that applies bitcoin to schools, making bitcoin a major topic, I sometimes feel this is unnecessary, although I understand the magnitude of the problem but we still shouldn't be too selfish. Bitcoin has not yet created stable jobs while schools can provide knowledge and help students get stable jobs, sometimes the teacher can discuss the technology related to bitcoin, advance to the curriculum is unnecessary when bitcoin is still not popular in the real work

It's very good to know that there's a school that bitcoin and other cryptocurrency is being a subject to be learned by the students, I am seeing it as an passive adaption in which every student can learn what and how do bitcoin works and especially how they will be able to earn money by this digital currency. Honestly in my school there's also a lot of students who are interested in cryptocurrency and bitcoin but we doesn't have the opportunity to introduce or start a subject about it.

It’s an advantage if the school teaches Bitcoin or Blockchain stuffs as part of the curriculum because there are a lot of good things to learn and develop in the space. Adoption is still on the move and it might not be available now or accepted into your country but lets hope that it would really be adopted soon.Dont expect too much though because
each government does have their own stance towards cryptocurrency neither they would be accepting it or simply banned it due to other negative insights or perceptions towards it.
Any news of adoption is always a good one, including it on education will really be a big help on spreading awareness of bitcoin existence and whats it usage.
This will spark out in the youth when it comes to interest and this will boom up even more.

One way or another, everything depends on the government, since it is they who influence what can be included in the curriculum of schoolchildren or students. If the state itself understands that society will inevitably use cryptocurrencies on a massive scale in the future, then there should be no problems with studying the subject of bitcoin in educational institutions. But since today many states reject the legalization of cryptocurrency, there is no talk of training yet. Although at my son's university, the teacher himself takes the initiative and introduces children to bitcoin.

I think cryptocurrency is a course of it's own for people who are studying accounting, banking and finance, because bitcoin has reached to the extent that every body in different societies is aware of bitcoin, and many people has began to develop interest seriously without studying it in universities, so for cryptocurrency to be elongated via domination across the countries, I think it should be choose as a single honour in universities across the worlds that values cryoto, because their is nothing bad if bitcoin is been study in higher institution's.

And speaking of that, I have a virtual class with the 40+ financial management students in a famous university in the Philippines tomorrow afternoon. At least this is gonna be good to educate them about what is the real Bitcoin and making them understand that it’s not a scam. Before the pandemic, I’ve already educated in several universities physically. This is going to be my first ever virtual class about Bitcoin, crypto and blockchain technology, but will focus on the financial side of it as they are non-tech students.

- The bitcoin building project in some schools doesn't really drive the value of bitcoin higher when in the past, bitcoin could have been more popular by topic and spread rapidly on an online platform, the younger generation is updating this very quickly and they've known bitcoin for so many years, even spreading information in schools, so I can say bitcoin's growth potential in schools has been exhausted. Aspects and thoughts about bitcoin should not continue to be taught in school, students need more interesting and practical topics.

It's okay. Now I see it more as a way of life that only a few really adopt and many talk about but don't really embrace (like all those supposed Buddhists who only do it part time hehe. Like all the woke things they teach in schools now people say it to pass exams but not necessarily to use in life.

But that's the beauty of BTC. You can use it however you want. No judgment.

I think most of the update are only coming from the devs and the Lightning Network. And most of the things that we have right now are updated and can be studied whether it's on a subject or by just learning it alone.

But if we're going to correlate it with technology, almost everything is fast-paced and keeps on updating from time to time.

This is great and a big movement, you know if schools start teaching student about bitcoin, crypto and blockchain it will actually add more values to student lives because once there acquire knowledge about crypto, blockchain and the origin of bitcoin there will also get to know the benefits and also will want to pertake therefore this will actually make most students to be independent because there are many opportunities connected to crypto which can fetch them good income in return. In some countries most graduates hardly find jobs due to lack of job opportunities and there are left with no choice but to switch and start doing mini or labor job but for a student who got knowledge about crypto and blockchain won't get affected by lack of job opportunities because there will surely make out good income from crypto and would be self employed.

Yeah, it is also another thing that is very important for learning about Bitcoin well. I really appreciate the schools that really care about their students' future. Why do you not understand it? Do you think it is a problem if Bitcoin becomes a subject in the school? As long as Bitcoin isn't something illegal there, it can be always a subject in the school. Moreover, if it is already familiar enough and proven to give big advantage for the people in the country. So, it makes sense if it is starting to be a subject in the school. It is not only about how to take dollars from Bitcoin but we can learn students about a new modern way to have a business in a digital aspect. Also, Bitcoin is a new revolution in a digital asset, plus Bitcoin offers people around the world to have freedom in managing their funds. This something that all people must know because it is very fundamentally an important history and knowledge for a new generation.

Not that sure talking about their future since this would only be part when it comes to payment system but it isnt really that bad to include it on curriculum.

Before these things can be seen on schools then of course it would really be needing those permission from the government itself. If the country or place isnt really that good in terms of

cryptocurrency reputation then dont expect that it can really be seen in most parts of the world. If it becomes a subject in to your school then consider yourself lucky because
this is an opportunity for you to know about it not only with the basics but also into the opportunities as well.

Two different identities but both are possible to use  in school,.

Bitcoin can now be part of business and economics as adoptions is now embraced by institutional investors, while in the other side, we know that Blockchain is a system where Bitcoin are made, it's best for young generations to learn deeper and explore other potentials from this chain, Young bloods are more creative they can find other ways to maximize the use of this system.

Unfortunately its not really possible if they set it as illegal. In our country, bitcoin is not prohibited but the stance of government seems not open to recognize it, the reason why many people still believe that its a sort of scam online due to the past news circulating against bitcoin.

If bitcoin become a subject at school then many people will understand its purpose and the advantage of using this new technology. I have not heard any schools here doing an initiative to include btc on their subject but its good to know there are other schools already doing it.

Now in social media, many business and finance channel talking about bitcoin. Generally the citizens of my country always not very fast to react to something new outside country, the government already react to bitcoin, but the citizens don't really care about it because the population is very big so it is not so easy to make something viral nationally. Just because something in a country is illegal doesn't mean you can't learn about it. After all, they teach about drugs at chemistry or medical universities, and as far as I know, they are illegal in most of the world. Bitcoin and, above all, Blockchain is an amazing technology and I am sure that soon there will not be a university in the world that will not teach about this technology.

It doesn't really matter right now since the world is going global. You don't necessarily need to be in bitcoin-legalized countries in order to take part in the space.  For instance,  Central Bank in my country recently placed a ban on the use of cryptocurrencies via our traditional banks. Now, this doesn't stop us from participating in the digital economy. It won't even affect people who take courses in blockchains and cryptography regardless of where they are in the world.

More universities will follow suit in the near future. It's high time those outdated curriculum gets a breath of fresh air.

Everything is on internet and in case if it was banned on your place but doesnt mean that you cant learn everything from it.Its just a matter on how you do put up some effort if you are really serious
on learning about bitcoin and its basic information.

Here in our country, it's not yet formally introduced at academic institutions but plenty of people is making a profit out of it. All you need to do is self-research to check its validity but I think it is the best way to introduce cryptocurrency such as bitcoin to people who're not aware of its existence. Many people perceive BTC as fraud and illegal but if it's included in the education program people might not take it the wrong way.

What you do by publishing books related to cryptocurrency really helps educate people to get to know Bitcoin even better. Moreover, you are
planning to send it to school as a subject, this is something that must be done continuously. Because it is very important to learn cryptocurrency
from the start, especially for students to be introduced to cryptocurrency. If possible, you can also try to tell how the school responds to the books
that you publish related to cryptocurrency. Unfortunately now the pandemic is still not over, so some schools have not opened their teaching
activities offline.

Many congratulations Mr. Philippine, You are doing very very well. It is very necessary today to teach & and aware students of advanced technology and E-commerce. For they could enable in future to earn their living.Bitcoin business based on blockchain technology. So there is no possibility of fraud, edit, delete, or fraud in your transactions. It is also good that you are teaching your students about blockchain technology. So continue your struggle. We all pray and desire for your success.

This is a good start, but our national classroom has not yet opened a Bitcoin course. However, there will be students in the school taking the initiative to learn cryptocurrency and blockchain knowledge. Some countries are not very accepting of Bitcoin, and will not offer courses specifically to explain cryptocurrencies. However, some countries have already done so, indicating that other countries will follow suit. This will take time.

For such to happen which I also agree is a big step to opening up the understanding of Bitcoin to students, I also believe that your Government must have a free or open policy yet with Bitcoin. I also don't think there is ever going to be a study about something without you looking at the two sides of it, so I believe some will always want to talk about negativity Bitcoin can also bring and I guess it will eventually depend on how every other person in the class sees it but at the end of the day, it is the awareness that it brings to the people and the curiosity for them that will engage them.
