Hello my bitcoin brethren!

I come to you with a cunundrum today. One that's been weighing on me heavy for the past week.

Is it a good time to buy bitcoin, for a not too long term investment? And not just a couple of bucks but rather with a sum that would definitely sting (but not cripple) if the pendulum swings the wrong way.

I know your guess it as good as mine and the whole don't put in more than you are willing to lose and bitcoin is the least predictable investment venue...but perhaps you might know something I don't, especially consider how sharply it's been going up lately.
Some I realized don't like sharing what they know if they have juicy insight that they feel will change the course of things unfavorably for them if that knowledge was made public. If you are one of them, maybe you can PM me? 1 person won't make a difference.

So yeah, looking for expert, honest, advice.

If your plan is not for a long term investment, you should not buy bitcoin at the moment. The market is within a very important period after being overheated for many weeks, from DeFi tide to bitcoin rise.

It is good if you will invest by your money, not from any loan. You will have less pressure when market turns bad. At least you can hold your bitcoin longer than what are you are planning to do.

What do you want to get back from your investment? It is profit and profit will be consider by ROI (Return from Investment) (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/r/returnoninvestment.asp). It does not make sense on which price you join the market, if you can get same percent of interest for your investment. So yeah please choose a safe entry price that is healthy dip.  :)

For the not too long-term investment, do you mean you will eventually sell right? Then it means, whatever the price, you can make an entry since the price is swinging, and with the exact execution of your strategy, you can take advantage of it and take profits.

But for long-term goals e.g for holding, it's a tough question that only you can answer. You need to decide for yourselves what to do. No advice from anyone can tell you the exact thing you need to do.

And why would you sell now when the price will 'most likely' go to $20k this month or next year. That's why someone is advising you to be at least invest today and look for the long haul, instead of selling every time it hit another higher high. Yeah, it's really hard to give financial advise here, but let's say most of the members here are trying to HODL as long as they can and probably will just liquidate when we are the top or close to getting a new all time high. Depends on how much you will invest and for what purpose. If you want to invest into bitcoin directly, I would say that today is as good as any day, do not listen to people who are calling for a bear run, do not care about how high we have gotten and how late you are right now, those are people who do not see any future profits.

However you should be careful, do not put all your money into bitcoin today because if you do that and price goes down again, you will have to wait a long time before you can even break even. What you should probably do is, buy bitcoin with some of it, and ethereum with a bit more, and keep buying it every Monday, keep doing that as much as you can and eventually you will be fine.

The market was in a downtrend for 3 years. Now that we are at ATH you want to invest? And you ask our opinions here, for short term?

Well, I think it is crazy to buy a huge amount now.

In my opinion the best is to buy a little every month, no matter the price, for years. This is a long term investment, and if you don't plan to hold it for at least 3 years it is basically gambling.

However, fundamentals are solid now: Paypal, Halving, Corona Virus Crisis and money printing.... But the price may just dump 30% next week and we may face a long 3 years downtrend again.

You don't wan to invest, you want to play roulette. You might as well go to a casino, the certainty about the outcome is pretty much the same.

Some people with knowledge can buy and sell bitcoin short-term but they base their decisions in technical analysis, in which I don't believe much by the way because most of them lose money

I think you need to be very careful with what you consider to be investing and what you consider to be gambling. While you can invest in Bitcoin, it is so volatile that you could wake up tomorrow and have lost 25% of your capital amount. Some people would not be bothered by that and would be willing to wait for it to go back up, however lots of people get scared because they never really knew why they were buying bitcoin in the first place. If you compare it against stock market investments, which can be just as dangerous but generally tend to be less volatile. There are also bonds, which are extremely stable but offer tiny guaranteed amounts in return.

To enter into the market is always hard, if the price were low then sentiment would also be negative and discouraging.     The problem is in adjustment from no involvement to some, the best way to enter into Bitcoin is by actual usage not speculation.   I've been looking at markets for decades and still its never certain which way we travel, most people have a portfolio of various assets and increasingly BTC is becoming one of those assets held as part of a spectrum balanced by holdings elsewhere.

The simpliest advice to you is enter gradually, the funny thing about BTC is that despite its rapid movement its true nature is over years and possibly even decades, it has an old soul it seems like which of surprise to everyone.   I've never seen a 200 week average mentioned as relevant in another market but in this one it is of reference.



The problem is we can keep rising, he could enter with a regular buy every month for the next 18 months and so long as you intend to keep that BTC for five years you are well grounded to be part of this economy.  Thats a reasonable strategy, problem is a large part of buyers want to buy now and sell by year end and thats close to gambling especially if you dont normally trade on markets.

The fact that this is your leading question is pretty good indicator you are approaching buying BTC with a gambler's mindset not an investor's mindset.

This means you are doomed to fail. As the definition of gambling is putting up money at unfavorable odds.

Buy x and list it for sale price of x +25%

do this ten weeks in a row.

so you spend 10x.

To be able to do this you need to put 10x aside and make the buys with the sell orders as I suggested for 10 weeks in a row.

If you can't do this you need to a never invest as you will be doomed to lose your investments.


If you can do this maybe you make some money doing it.

if you are thinking a month or two when you say "not too long term" then the answer is probably not because price is currently at a level that could last for that much and during that time it could have big ups and downs instead of just ups. this volatility is not something you want to expose yourself to if this is your first time entering bitcoin.

anything longer than that, the answer is definitely yes. we are in a bull market and the price will continue going up and will be higher than this in next year.

I guess no one wants to be the guy that will be blamed on at the end.

The truth is no one knows where it will go and this kind of high price of Bitcoin is the scariest of all if you are either a buyer or a seller.
Regrets for sellers and fear for buyers that it might be their wrong decision.

True it could lose 25% in a matter of time but if @OP really believes in Bitcoin and its concept, and he's the only one who can know it,  such an event is not something to worry about. Otherwise, it means he/she's just another weak hand.
We failed from $20k to $3k, 25% is peanuts compared to this^^

If you diversify your portfolio in different markets and different investment types, you have more capacity to absorb a loss. Diversity is always a golden rule while investing.

People asked the same question when Bitcoin was @1,000$, we said yes but people were not doing anything. They came back later to ask the same question again when Bitcoin was at @5,000$ with the same answer but still nothing was done. Since and repeat  @10,000k, @15,000...

I don't think there is good and bad time to invest, it's only the good or the bad estimation of your investment capabilities and risk appetite. As well you might make the good or the bad choice what to invest in.
No matter what you choose always diversify your portfolio and never invest more than you can afford to lose, I think these are some basic principles. If you choose Bitcoin don't forget that is the most profitable on long term, just need to have enough patience and long term strategy.

My opinion is no for sure. When the price at the top, you should hold and don't trade. Because if the price of bitcoin again increased, their will be no problem. If you want to multiple the money your bank account, Patience is important one in such condition, by holding is best move. But do not leave the market and without buying a long term.

How patient you are before investing, I think you need to evaluate this, If you think you are a patient person, you can choose long-term bitcoin investment. It is one of those situations that I find risky if you have short term thinking. Diversifying your investment makes sense in these situations.

I think there is no such thing a time requirement on what day or time you should invest your money in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies because it depends on your decision if you will have a bad or good timing of investing your money. But for me, I think it's not good time for someone to buy more bitcoin because they can simply lose more than 25% of their profit when bitcoin suddenly crashes it's price again, just like what happened last year 2017.

We can't predict whether bitcoin will be profitable for short-term investment or not. It can be... There was a moment in past when bitcoin went from 10k to 14k in just one-two days but once it reached 20K, then the price started declining and become as low as 3-4K. If you bought at that moment, bitcoin wouldn't be considered as a short-term profitable asset but on long-term, without a doubt - yes. Just see the history of bitcoin's price, it would be one of the best long-term investment that could be done recently.

To my mind, it's a good time right now to buy bitcoin. I think that it's a bull run that will continue for upcoming months, especially if we consider the fact that PayPal will fully implement crypto services in 2021 and VISA is also very interested in it.

Honestly, this is not the right time to buy, you might have to wait for couple of more weeks in order to see how the market fluctuates. This is a very crucial stage where an buying or selling is not recommended but if you ask someone who has already invested in Bitcoin then the value was under $10k or $15k and your someone who is in desperate need of money then it's advisable to sell off before he market turns bearish but buying bitcoin at this moment would prove fatal.

Its always a good time to buy!  Do you think at some point bitcoin will be higher than its current price.  If your answer is yes, then start incrementally buying bitcoin daily, weekly, monthly or some interval.  This will help hedge your downward and upward risk.  Dont listed. There would be always some hesitance when it comes to investing because we wont know if the price would crash down after we hit or do able to break the ATH
because it isnt always a guarantee that the price will shoot up or will continue when it breaks to the roof and we know that theres always a possibility yet
this market had been always an unpredicted ones.

It was a losing end for you if you buy today, better to wait when the market drops again. Try to think what will happens in the last Bullrun, the market dumps and that possible to happen again. Don't help yourself to be those guys suffered big losses because they invest during at peak but rather to help yourself out from FOMO.

We don't know if the price keep on increasing, will it continue after it reach the ATH? Will it stay there? Will it fall? When will it fall if it does? Time passes by and if you can buy Bitcoin, you can. There is nothing wrong buying at this price since we are not certain when will it fall but if you invested earlier, that would be better. 

I don't know if it's too late or not, because we all know that the all time high Bitcoin is at $ 20100,
and now it's at $ 19000, if it's investment time then I'm sure investors will buy Bitcoin at this price,
but look what happens in the market, investors are still waiting,
whether it's when the price goes above $ 20100 or below $ 19,000 again.

Well, I don't see any reason why not to sell right now. If you buy bitcoin at a low price and you think the profit is enough or you hit your target price then why not sell. My only advice when selling your holdings especially in this bull run you don't sell all your holdings, just sell a fraction of it and set your new target price again. The thing here is we don't know exactly how the market will behave so you must take the opportunity as you can and don't be greedy as well waiting for it to grow even more. You should know your limits and that is a smart move for me at least.

At this stage of the game, I would advice you not to buy even if you say that it will only sting. Remember that it is still a sting, the best course of action is to wait when the dip starts because that will definitely happen, it will not sting because you know for yourself that it will dip and just buy more at lower prices, you will have more money in the long run.

We have to look at any situation now the market is not yet the time if you people don't panic then it is fine to buy now but I believe the bullrun will continue but FOMO is mostly due to influence in the current market situation.

now the market is a little down we will find out if this is going to bottom but for sure the decline will not be so fundamental we have to believe and be ready to buy at the right price.

At this moment, not really. The market price is already high and the fact that there's no assurance whether the market price will continue increasing in the future, is enough for an investor to doubt doing so. There is practically more chance to earn profit if an investor would wait for the market price to first fall since its price is increasing at times, but what's questionable is its inconsistencies. But an investor is not prohibited to do so, 'coz doing so will depend mainly on investor's market analysis.

There is no correct answer, the market have its own way to move. Although there is someone who believe 100% to his strategy that will get a profit but he just have 70% a chance to get it. I mean, in the trading or investing field there is no absolute strategy, there will be a time for the market give you a profit and give you a loss.

Seem like you just new to crypto currency, right? It would be better to learn first this field before you start. Don't just come when bitcoin and all crypto currency price in the bull run market. Depends on how long is "not too long term"? a month or two?
Bitcoin movement still going sideways at the moment, we will know what may happen if bitcoin success to break the resistance level at $19,9k but today it seems to decline which means retest the support level at $18,8k. Despite the price right now, buying bitcoin will be profitable within 1-2 months, it supposes to reach at least $22k in this month before a retracement by the end of the year or in early 2021.

How come people still think that they are still seeing some sort of bear run? I mean of course it is a great time to invest, we are not even at the top yet. How do I know this? Because I believe in bitcoin and I remember when it past the last ATH back in the day, it broke over it a lot.

So, I think we are not going to just go to 20k and crash this time around, that was settling a new ATH once upon a time, the reality is that we are going to go above 20k and reach to places like 40-50 thousand and then crash, but this crash will be huge and very high even compared to today's price. So do not be worried about buying today, buy right now and sell when it does x2 and you will be in huge profit. However do not forget to check out other coins as well, there could be some that can do even better than x2 as well.

As much as I like to give advice to the OP, my advice might not be the one that will happen in the future :D.
In the end OP it will depend on your target profit and plans.

You buying for short term, just do futures trading instead so that you can gain lot more profit than spot trading.
You buying for long term, just do dollar-cost averaging or lump sum buying. Either way, it will give you profits in long run.

If only somebody knows what can happen to Bitcoin in the future with 100% accuracy then that person/s might be rich by now :D.

I have always believed and reiterated that every time is a good time to invest, or sell. As traders or investors, we have different trade entries; and definitely will have different trade exits too. My point of taking profit does not necessary have to correlate with you. So i will implore that you do your own research; summarize the token market chart; and choose for yourself a time to get in the trade.

No this is not the right time to entertain with your savings in BTC because the price is already in its peak and buying now is not recommended, also I would request you to please go through the history of BTC and first see its high and low of the past one year. Wait for few more days and watch the fluctuations how it happens everyday, you will come across lot of news about BTC but that doesn't mean the price is go to moon. Don't jump over and buy wait until the market turns red.

Although the potential is there but still it's dangerous to advice to anyone about holding it for a year since in reality it's hard to predict if those figures would really come although many experts says about it still we cannot really say it's accurate since they are also predicting with no accurate basis. Maybe the best we can do is to buy and trade bitcoins since by this if we can earn for daily basis as well on long term holding if we choose to have a split balance for holding and trading.

Investing in bitcoin is your choice you must know the risk before you invest to this coin because anytime the bitcoin is possible to collapse and no one knows when it happen. But Im sure it is still good investment but you need a right timing in investing your money.

Because a investors invest when the project is very low but they have capability to rise in the future like what happen to the bitcoin it down very high but after few years it rise again so their patients will get a good result because they get a lot of money from their profit to the bitcoin.

It is good because you will not have to wait for a very long time fro the pump. It should happen in about one year time. It is not so good because price is far from bottom where it was at the end of 2018 and at start of 2019. But if you would bought back then you would need to hold for three years instead of only one.

I'm not an expert but do invest money that you can afford to lose, yes for me this is a good time to invest, Bitcoin is very much ripe to break his old all time high and to set another one, all speculation and prediction are pointing to another all time high, and Bitcoin @ $19200 is the good time to buy.

now is the time for a place to buy bitcoin or other altcoins to be used as an investment asset along with market conditions that tend to be often bullish, especially bitcoin prices, with frequent price rallies, of course this can provide an opportunity to get bitcoin at a slightly cheap price and not close it is possible that the price of bitcoin will be able to experience a price increase again, but my advice now is that you better do daily trading because I see that the market is often correcting prices, especially bitcoin and of course this will give you a little profit later in trading.

The pandemic is driving all assets down but Bitcoin is not included since Bitcoin maintain a good price position when the pandemic problem was still high and the time is still right to invest in crypto before it too late.

I have to disagree with this because this is not a perfect time to invest. We don't get a ride on the market coz it is already at the ATH and we don't need to give hope that it will continue to move high but give them some hints, a scheme-like 2017 scenario in which the market price dumps slowly after reaching its ATH. We can't ignore this possibility but instead, we have to prepare for this than keeping always in bullish minds. Kinda we need to think also about the past events than focusing on the current market flow.

No man can predict nor foreseen the future if they do then this market wont be unpredictable anymore but rather a predictable one.When we do make out some decisions neither we do investor or not then
it will depend on someone's risk management thing neither they would push it through or not.

Asking if this is the good time to invest? If what you do see on potential and of course it is needed some analysis and some fundamentals and mixed of technicals then this is where you should
be getting your basis when you do make out some choices.

You can say how volatile we are, dump will comes after the pumps. And don't make a reason to fail because you are buying crypto during the bullish and loss your money. Because you ask me, I don't risk in the situation that the market is already on the bullish season but instead to wait the time it down.

It is never a good time to invest because any investment can be lost completely. Take what you are ready to lose and buy as much Bitcoin as possible and HODL.

Invest is an awful word to use, its slang because its not an investment its more like a commodity speculation.    Thats fine, buy and hold but investment is the ownership of a means of production rather then holding the byproduct in hopes of playing the market bid vs offer correctly over time.   Modern definitions blur the lines but the difference matters, its an excellent time to speculate as we receive large swells in the price but not many of us are qualified as professional traders so we take a gamble.   If you want to buy and hold, make sure you can buy a dozen times over the next two years and you will likely benefit from the sustained participation.

Not a guarantee because it will be always basing up on where you did actually put your investment neither it is only just on Bitcoin or do consider on putting some funds in low cap coins.

Also, we should only invest on the amount that we can afford to lose. Dont put your life savings on it because even the market do shows bullish run but doesnt mean that it will last forever.
When making investment then always rethink and always consider on checking out on which would be the best ones.

This is what i do when planning to invest more ,Once that I have my funds available ,I am not taking time thinking and asking instead i will grab the opportunity instantly , and since i only Invest in the first to 10 coins ,i have no doubt in deciding which to choose.
and sometimes i just Make a Mini Mini Moo for what to buy ,But maybe with added luck ,because each time i add investment ,that coins either will Pump in the next months or in the year duration in which my holding time most of the time.

I just say one thing to start, if I only had how to buy Bitcoins right now I would not hesitate in the least, and not because I know that it will go up in price, so buy at almost $ 30k and go down to $ 5k would Hodl do until Bitcoin has at least $ 50k, no matter how long it takes, the same will happen ...

The bitcoin market is increasing rapidly, whereas the altcoins are continuously facing decline other than very few cryptocurrencies. Myself don't find it a good time to invest on bitcoin, because the present moment is for the people who can afford to invest in large scale. Small scale investors will be under panic for a long term, if they invest at the current market value.

There are two investment options in the crypto world, Bitcoin and Altcoin, I will give a strong suggestion for all of us and a little explanation,
I will explain about the domination and logic, you see, Bitcoin domination is currently at the 70% level, and it looks like a price Bitcoin is getting higher, reportedly $ 30k is the first target that must be achieved if you want to continue the trend, but this can all fall quickly,
because we know that the higher the dominance of bitcoin, the greater the risk of falling,
considering that if we count only 25% Altcoin domination and 5% stable coin domination, if you have to choose, choose altcoins,

We're near 30k now which means some profit taking is a fairly clear view.    Perhaps an opportunity to buy into the weakness if thats your view to speculate in this area.
   Its absolutely not displaying that weakness at present but we have suspended main markets in many countries due to the new year which means you can expect some difference on reentering that full trade flow, I think we do properly challenge the 2 day just because it often tests (https://talkimg.com/images/2023/06/12/A1JWm.png) it this area and its a very fast harsh white waters type of action that can go either way.

When bitcoin raise above $30k will altcoin allow to raise up too, almost few weeks ago bitcoin keep higher price and not give chance for altcoin raise too, how ever if bitcoin still on the top price we need longer time to see altcoin back to higher price, but when bitcoin down almost all altcoin allow for going down without have any permission. Just happening right now when bitcoin still potential back to higher price and not chance for altcoin.

So you are investing because you think you might miss out on making profit? Investing because of FOMO is bad. Like really really bad. You keep on thinking about the profits, not about the losses that you might incur. Look, if you are willing to invest for long term, then go ahead. Invest and forget about your coins for years. If you thinking about making short term investment and make quick profits, then I would say don't. Well, against the majority of you guys' advice, I bit the bullet, went ahead and bought... a pretty penny's worth too. It was 19k'ish at the time...now it's 32k. And with that, I'm back at the same dilemma...should I sell?  ;D I'm at %50 profit so far.

look at altcoins if you are afraid of high bitcoin prices, considering the altcoin season has not yet come to all of us there is still hope of repeating history in 2017-2018, and in my opinion this is a pre altcoin season, we have seen Ethereum hit the new ATH but we haven't see other coins like Tron, Stellar, and others have increased like Ethereum and Binance, buy coins that are still cheap, not expensive ones.

I have try to add my portfolio before december ends and i can tell now that the profit i made upto now are really enough from the long time that i have been waiting so Yeah you should have invested that moment mate.
The market Cap now are closing to 2 trillion meaning added more than 1 trillion from last years maximum capitalization.

When you look at TA type of stuff and how the bitcoin world is moving, it is obvious that we are not going to be capable of actually going up anytime soon and it is ballooned up and the price should not only go down but should crash right now. However the reality is that we are capable of going up exactly for the reasons you listed, it is companies that spend billions of dollars and putting money aside, that is a whole lot of deal and we should not forget about that. We are doing a lot better right now thanks to those companies and we wouldn't have been at 50k.

Not only they buy those and increase the price which is a great deal, but the news that those companies bought so many bitcoins also increases the price because people end up with buying a ton of bitcoin because they heard that news. Which is why it is obvious that bitcoin is doing great not on paper, but things that are unexpectedly good keeps happening and increases the price.

Yeah, bitcoin is on fire currently and within the coming days or weeks the bitcoin market can crash anytime. My candid advise to OP now should be: don't go into bitcoin investment on long-term right now but short-term is encourage as the bitcoin price has hited All Time High and correction expected soon. Although, this is not investment advise but my opinion, so, trend carefully about the bubbles as you put it ability of burst into consideration.

That is the thing about crypto, you do not know when it peaks, you look at the price and say "well it has gone up 3x high so we should not put too much money into it anymore, where could it go more than 3x already?" and then you look at it and you find out that bitcoin price reached x6 in the end. Of course it is always risky to put money into crypto, you do not know if it will go up or down, but we all know that we are going to end up with a good amount of increase eventually, but is it today or is it 5 years later? We do not know.

Sometimes you are scared that it has gone up too much, and then it goes up x2 above that, sometimes you think that it should go up even more, and then price falls, it is always unreliable and nobody knows what is going on. Of course this means that we should probably focus on things that would be a lot easier like buying and holding and not really caring if it goes up or down so that you can wait for years and years and eventually be richer.

Millions out there are afraid to make their investment with Bitcoin because of the current price of bitcoin, believe me they will definitely regret their actions in few years to come. Currently Bitcoin is at $49k, I think it’s a good time to invest ever since it has skyrocketed to $58k. Anytime would be a good time to invest for me, just don’t put all your eggs in one basket though and do averaging in case it still drops much lesser which is unlikely to happen I think but who knows right? Investing is always risky and so you got to take some risks once in a while and just hodl.

Bitcoin price has stabilized at $ 49k for a few days, this means that Bitcoin support price at $ 49k is quite strong. It could also indicate that now is
the right time to buy Bitcoin. I believe the Bitcoin price will soon recover and rise again to a price of $ 58k. If that happens there is a possibility that
Bitcoin bull run will continue, hopefully this year's $ 100k target can be achieved.

If you started investment in this space by December 2, 2020, when the thread started. From BNB, ETH and BTC, the low risk investment with the highest marketcap. You must have made minimum of 2x from any of the investment, in some others 10-50x with lower cap. Another time will be in this time of correction, this may last few days before we attain new ATH for some of the big cap, look for where retailers are moving there money and break your investment into them.
