Does your database allow negative balances like cryptorush?? They had a major problem because of it today.

I think you want to know if we built up a security check for that. The answer is yes. It is not possible to have a negative balance. There are in fact 2 checks, one in the business logic layer and one on the database layer.

Watching!!!

But Logo first, plz!!!!
There won't be a logo of swaphole.com in the foreseeable future. We use our resources to keep the software safe and reliable.

Brilliant!

I was hoping you had put one security check in, but two is even better.

Probably should have put more thought into the name. If you are serious please spend more than a few moments on security measures we don't need another hacking incident.

Who came up with that name?
Me :) But we had long discussions about it.

Probably should have put more thought into the name. If you are serious please spend more than a few moments on security measures we don't need another hacking incident.
The name is unique, as our project is. We don't want to make the next crypto-curr-ex-alt-coin-trade-whatever.com.

Security is our top priority, we put a lot of effort into it. You won't read much about it because one of our goals is to keep the system and software architecture as well as the security measures as secret as possible to give hackers as less contact surface as possible.

Some other features of SwapHole.com (http://SwapHole.com):

  • Customizable personal dashboard - you choose which coins you want information on.
  • 4 Order options: Fill-or-Kill; Immediate-or-Cancel; Stop (aka Stop/Loss); Iceberg - they can be used all in one single order!

More features will be revealed soon!

I'm confident that we'll last longer than the common "crypto-curr-ex-alt-coin-trade-whatever.com" exchange.

In the meantime, add your coins and vote for them at the voting page!

Awesome! I just made my account. I'm really glad to see that this exchange actually focuses on security and is made by professionals. It's a refreshing break from the poorly written exchanges that we've been seeing broken into recently.

Would be nice (and smart of your part) if you`d show more of the site for people like me considering to register. Right now you can`t see anything if you do not register.

Sure! Since we only have fresh markets at the moment, here are some pics of the dashboard and an empty market (I don't want to post fake data pics):

Why do you not provide any info about the companies capital on https://www.swaphole.com ?

I thought, that this is required by EU law, but maybe that is me not knowing Austrian law.

How much is the "stammkapital" of this gmbh?

And does the Austrian law do not require to provide the names of the people, who are in charge of the company???

As you may know the "Stammkapital" and the people in charge of the company are registered in the commercial register. Everyone can take a look at it. We are not forced by law to list this information on the web. You may notice the company name and address on the contact page as well as the branches and links to WKO and contact information.

How do you get to the trading/markets page?

If I keep clicking on Account, a new tab opens every time. I can have a bazillion Account tabs if I wanted.

Logout button completely fails.

You might want to not do console logs, crappier browsers will just not work with that many console logs, if any.

If I keep clicking on Account, a new tab opens every time. I can have a bazillion Account tabs if I wanted.

I'm apologizing for the inconvenience, we prepared a huge update to make the UI simpler and more understandable because we got similar feedback from many people! The update will be online in a few minutes, I hope you will take a look at the new release and give us hopefully positive feedback! :)

Logout button completely fails.

You might want to not do console logs, crappier browsers will just not work with that many console logs, if any.

Logout is designed to do exactly what it shoud, it invalidates your session. I think you mean redirecting to the login page? We'll add this in a later update! But you are right about the console logs, we'll make an update about that in a few minutes.

sorry but I hate it when exchanges won't let you see prices/markets without signing up

so no thanks

You're right! This feature will be unlocked if we have at least some kind of market movements. There will also be a crypto currency index like you may know it from stock exchanges.

First there were shitcoins, then came shixchanges

I must admit that we made some bad UI desicions which we corrected in the past hours and will go live in a few minutes, but there was never a risk of losing coins or getting scamed!

We just checked everything:
  • Payouts working
  • Deposits working
  • Markets working

Yes. As a matter of fact this Order Option is already implemented - we just want to wait for more and stable volume to unlock this feature, because it only makes sense to use this on an at least medium volatile market.

Mintpal's fees: 0.015℅
Cryptsy's fees: 0.03℅
Swaphole's fees: 0.04%
Swaphole with stop order: 0.14℅

Conclusion: the added level of security that stop-loss provides  comes at a cost: Swaphole is ten times more expensive than the compétition.
Is this worth it? I'd tend to say "yes", but community adoption, arbitraging possibilities will matter also.

(by thé way, thank you for the quick answer on trailing stop)

I added this on the BC thread:

You might be interested in knowing that https://www.swaphole.com/ has a BC market
Advantage: STOP LOSS! And trailing stop (even better than stop loss) is possible to
Disadvantages:
  - stop loss/trailing stop is requires ten times more expensive fees - but I believe the added security is worth it
  - you have to find out the best acceptable percentage of loss (I'd start with 10%, but in case of a flash dump-pump, you could lose momentum and have to buy back at a slightly higher price, hence losing BC)
  - no traffic whatsoever on the BC market atm
  - new exchange, they are registered in Australia and say they worked in real life trading before but out of that, they could be the next cryptorush
  - no permalink like https://cryptrader.com/charts/mintpal/bc/btc or https://www.mintpal.com/market/BC/BTC

I opened up an account but did not deposit any money yet.

You are welcome wzttide :)

Since there is still no BC traffic at all on swaphole, I decided to move some of my BC over your exchange - the very first ones :)

Plus, I have a question and request for you.
First the question: since you are experienced in trading, what would you suggest as a percentage for trailing stop? 10%, more, less? Or is it too difficult to give even a generic rule?
My current feeling is: if you can look at the screen every 30 minutes, chose a small percentage (like 10%). If you cannot, take a higher percentage, like 20 or 30%. Rationale: smaller percentage lead to premature sales so it is necessary to be able to buy back soon. Larger percentages won't optimize your gain (you won't gain money on small price lowerings) but will still protect you from dumps.

Second, my request: your frontend needs a major overhaul! Hire a webdesigner. Current appearance acts as a repellent. I stopped counting the number of people who hate cryptsy's apperance and love Mintpal's (despite mintpal have much room to grow in this departement)
A more engaging website will help you tremendously. This is not only about graphics, though: it also is about permalink. There is no permaling (let alone meaningful permalinks) to access the BC market, for instance.

These are my two cents and a half :)

Edit: pop-up helps on the stop rate (sell order, limit) would help understanding what it does.

I'm more than happy to hear that :)

This is a very delicate topic, on the one side you don't want to get out when it's still rising (or falling), on the other hand you want to minimize your losses - so you already know that because you wrote it :)

It is difficult to find (if this is even possible) the right percentage or fixed value on the crypto currency markets, because they are extremely volatile, which makes them outstanding interesting, but rather difficult to deal with and on them. To be honest I don't have the guts to give you any advice about this.

Second, my request: your frontend needs a major overhaul! Hire a webdesigner. Current appearance acts as a repellent. I stopped counting the number of people who hate cryptsy's apperance and love Mintpal's (despite mintpal have much room to grow in this departement)

We are in the middle of major design changes. But this changes take time, I don't want to rush things to be the "first", in most cases this leads to difficult manageable issues and I don't like issues at all.

These are my two cents and a half :)
I'm more than happy about any constructive criticism!

Edit: pop-up helps on the stop rate (sell order, limit) would help understanding what it does.
We already working on that - but it's difficult to make an UI easy to use and easy to understand and give the user all possible information he/she wants. Building up the next coin exchange which looks exactly like the dozen others (chart, buy, sell, orders, trades) is not what we want to accomplish. This is a challenge we want to master.

Personally don't like the new design and the tweets on the startpage on the top of the page make me feel the website is about tweets and not an exchange.
This is a major problem, I hope we can provide you with a better solution after the redesign.

I have markets more than 1 time in my account.
Known bug, doesn't harm, but I know it bothers users.

Hi i am new to your website and i am already having issues, i sent you an email at your support email about being unable to cancel an order for Asiacoin, this is the first time i encounter such a problem and i trade in almost all of the exchanges, i don't see why an order cannot be cancelled by the same user that has made the order.
Currently i am at a loss because of this problem and i haven't recieved an answer or the ability to cancel the order in more than 2 hours. Please reply otherwise i will have to consider this as a warning for any further trading at your exchange

---

Rapid response, helpful and comprehensive.
Thank you for the assistance and follow up.
I still wish you could make a guide for dummies for how to understand and use the sell and buy limit orders with all those options combined, a video with examples would probably be the best and easiest way to do it.

Which percentage would you place on the trailing stop? 10%, more, less?

In the tradition of the stock market 10% make sense. Get out because the trend went against you. If you use a 10% stop loss you can lose on two out three trades and still make money as long as you get a decent gain on the third.

Thanks. I was thinking of using a trailing stop instead, not a "regular" stop loss order.

But I have a hard time understanding how the window works

http://i57.tinypic.com/2w6drap.png

"Amount" is simple
"Limit (BTC)", I guess it means selling at a treshold price. If this price is reache, the it sells (take profit). If check the "stop" box, the "take profit" becomes a "stop loss", right, and if I enter something on the "Stop rate", then it becomes a trailing stop.
Problem is, all these entries are mandatory, so I don't understand how to make it.

Could someone post an example filled screenshot with comments?

A trailing stop is much better IMHO - but I've never used the interface so I can't comment. I admit Swaphole got my attention with that feature. I wouldn't hold many altcoins without a stop loss. The price reversal is so dramatic and comes like a thief in the night  ;D

I completely agree. That is why I am considering moving my money from mintpal to swaphole, once I understand trailing stop. Being added on cryptrader would be a big plus, I will contact Brad from cryptrader.

Feature requests
(I will try to update it)

UX considerations
  • Nicer design - think cryptrader or at least mintpal for the chart and kraken for the general layout - update: on the way
  • Ability to move the tabs, like in any internet browser
  • Make "locked balance" and "insufficient funds" more explicit
  • Make order easier to understand (trailing stop particularly
  • Weighted average like at kraken.
  • On the deposit/withdrawal window, clicking on the Current balance selects the whole of it in Amount (like at Mintpal).
  • When the  "not enough funds!" message appears, add a second line: "maybe you forgot to unlock XXX %currency%?". I believe that would help people and reduce the amount of mail you'd receive.
New features
  • Combined orders, especially "buy+sell" (as soon as bought at X, immediately sell at X+Y%, useful when expecting a pump) sell+buy (the opposite, useful when expecting a dump) and "Trailing stop or take profit, whichever comes first" (useful for the 10/200 rule (http://david.latapie.name/blog/investment-strategy-10-200-and-trailing-stop/)).
  • Estimated total in BTC (like mintpal, cryptsy, kraken...).
  • Possibility to edit an order, instead of deleting it and recreate it.
  • For withraw option, clicking the amount should be default select the whole amount (like in Mintpal). Right now, one has to enter it manually or to copy-and-paste it.
  • Possibility to buy "for x BTC worth of given_crypto" like at kraken.
  • Withdrawal should not be processed once or twice per day. Please automate this
  • Permalink for markets, preferably à la Mintpal (that is, meaningful permalinks, not like Cryptsy).
Plus, I'd be interested in getting a history of the daily volume. I understand that the exchange might not want to show this if the volume is not rising but even in that case, this added transparency would speak high of the exchange. I don't put in the list because this is not something I expect from the exchange itself - although as I said it would better.

David, thank you for your suggestions!

I want you to know that we are testing a new release with many new stuff, some examples:
  • More and nicer graphs
  • Move tabs
  • Weighted average
  • Click on the balance fills the withdrawal balance field
  • Faster withdrawals
  • Own orders get marked on buy/sell table
  • Major redesign
  • Edit order
  • Permalinks on public content
  • More intuitive order form
  • Some other minor improvements

Twitter and this thread are very silent at the moment - we are doing a lot of stuff in the background and we want to blow your mind with the next version of SwapHole.com

I like it: not much talking, much more acting :)

One remark though: since you charge for market order, most of the transaction are done at market price. This is really unsettling for me, It is like a gamble. I placed both a buy and a sell order on AsiaCoin three days ago (and AsiaCoin has all the volume) and it has not been filed yet, even though I placed a buy order at the highest price and a sell order at the lowest price.

how the hell will i change my btc withdrawal address?

you have upgraded the site visually which is great.. but it has become more difficult to buy/sell with those new pop up option. why can it be just the same style as other exchange site.. its really harder to make order option with your UI.. alot of things to take into consider.. pls just make a basic buy order option and give an advance option if people prefer it..

.. its great to be a fucking unique exchange site but pls make it user friendly.. alot of the option your exchange site present really is hard to use/manage.. there is not even a starter guide for newbi no wonder there is such a low volume on your site.. it makes new comers turn away with such difficult option

TL/DR: you have so many features that most people won't use, you forget the most important thing which is being user friendly.

Thank you for your honest feedback, I think you already wrote us an email :)

Withdrawal addresses can't be changed, this is a security measure. This is easily done by sending an email to our support and writing your new withdrawal address in it.

We may overthink this procedure, because most people don't understand that this actually protects them by state their real withdrawal address instead of some random address.

not user friendly.
I can't even find how I can cancel my orders ???

I'd suggest sending an email to support@swaphole.com - usually you have a cancel button right next to your order.

We take your feedback into account and will definitly think about how we can make it user friendlier and still provide more features than other exchanges!

Are your servers and wallets SELinux secured?

We don't give away any information on our security measurements.

This has a major reason: Let's say we use SELinux and there is a glitch in it. Everybody would know that a service of ours is vulnerable. A good example is the last OpenSSL bug.

We use common security techniques also used in the financial industry and goverment services.

SwapHole.com is maintained by a registered company based in Austria, Central Europe. You can look it up at the "Contact" page, do a little bit research and you'll find some stuff about the company. You can rely on this information because it's fraud if we'd publish something wrong. Austrian law is very strict and has high penalties on scam, also a very good jurisdiction in terms of customers' rights.

How to withdraw them?

It seems the service has not been closed as I can still open the site https://www.swaphole.com

Just trading is not active there. This exchange is not bad but don't know why the exchange owner doesn't spend some efforts to promote it.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the long wait. SwapHole is still being maintained and support requests are of course still being answered! :)
However, we're currently pretty busy... Therefore we are not developing new features or updating to new coins. Behind the scenes we are working hard on something big - but the decision to go through is not up to us... The API has been deactivated because it was not really being used.

If you have requests please use the support mail address (support@swaphole.com) because we don't check the forums regularly .
