Lately majority of people find theirselves within the crypto space, but many of them do not really understand the actual reasons for adopting crypto currency other than to make profit, what are your own reasons for adopting cryptocurrency?

I'm someone who has never been a fan of controlled environment especially if it I'm not the one controlling my situation. For instance, If I have some money in the bank and they lock me out of the account or something shitty happens, I'd be in a situation where I can't control what happens next. Other reasons why I love Bitcoin / Blockchain / Crypto:

• The thrill: As someone who loves innovation and technology, its thrilling to know how distrubuted systems like the blockchain work automously and still reach consensus. Amazing stuff.
• Permissionless Identify and activities.
• Money as motivator  ;) - there's ton of opportunities in the space and it's permissionless to participate.

Of course, there are other reasons but I'd like to keep the list short here.

You are asking people here what are their main reason but telling them less understanding? what will you do if that is their reason? or sole reason for that sense? yeah there are many ways to deal in crypto but it is what they wanted?
that is their money and that is their decision.
if you wanted to extend yours such as HODLING or TRADING or Using as payment option then that is yours., but don't questions our reason like me , that i actually been using crypto for paying but depending in the season and depend in my capacity .
so yeah we can have each ways of dealing cryptocurrencies .

the reason why I adopting cryptocurrency is to avoid inflation. I feel that it is not fair when my money value decrease only because government print more money as they want. I was working and save money to keep me life. and once they print more money, my hardwork becomes less worthy. for me it is better to save some of my money in form of bitcoin although it volatile but I am experienced enough to make a good strategy to invest in btc.

Most people, even you, know that their sole purpose in investing in cryptocurrency is to earn profit. There are only a few people that use it to transact or make payments online, but the majority of people invest in it so that they can get profit. It is such an effective investment that the possibility of gaining a huge profit is huge in the next few years. Even for myself, this is my purpose, and the secondary is trying to pay using it online, but mostly before I join your cryptocurrency space, this is really my purpose.

the reason I adopted cryptocurrencies was because I was looking for extra money, so that my economy could progress, but of course, of course, everyone has almost the same goal as me, which is to make profits and in my opinion, that's my only reason and I can't say anything else.

Pls not all cryptocurrency has the potential  for one to adopt so you need to be specific  and use the word bitcoin. My reasons for adoption of bitcoin is that.
1. It gives financial freedom and can be used across boarders without a third party.
2. I also use it as an investment and a store of value. As an investment, you will see it that bitcoin is the most valuable investment that one can make a good profit from, if you can hodli you bitcoin for a long term. For store of value,because fiat is depreciating in value daily due to inflation but bitcoin is inflation resistance.
3. Bitcoin is the future gold because soon people that have bitcoin will be the richest or most wealthy people in the world as long as they only keep on accumulating their bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a biggest cryptocurrency but it is not the only cryptocurrency so I see it is fine to discuss about cryptocurrency adoption generally. Bitcoin needs altcoins too even many altcoins are scam. The cryptocurrency market should not have only Bitcoin and altcoins are necessary for the market.

People will have control of their bitcoin if they use non custodial wallets. If they use custodial wallets from like exchanges, gambling sites, they will not control their bitcoin.

No control, no chance to have financial freedom because they can lose their bitcoin, capital anytime.

Consider Bitcoin as an investment asset and as a store of value is the same. You should not invest in Bitcoin if you see it is not a store of value. Bitcoin itself is inflationary because new bitcoins will appear with each new Bitcoin block.

There are already 19,444,675 BTC (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/) mined by miners and already exist in Bitcoin circulating supply.

The curve starts to be flattened out and not many bitcoin will be mined from new blocks in future.
Not all people who have bitcoin can become rich, millionaires or billionaires. It depends on how many bitcoins they have.

A system that gives you an alternative to traditional fiat and has a chance to be big in terms of speculative trading, caught my attention. It's main reason why I feel it's useful is it's borderlessness, censorship resistance and decentralisation. These factors make it more attractive to clear the cons of a fiat currency. There are many other altcoins out there but there ar no real alternative to bitcoin itself. It is one of a kind and hence I adopted it.

Although chances of using Bitcoin in any specific sector is less. We can assume it to take over the economy in future and thus accumulate it for now from providing services and work.

Over the years my reasons have changed, early on I was just impressed with the technology and being a newbie back then I did not knew much about the extreme movements this market can experience from time to time.

However as time has passed, even if I am still impressed by the technology behind bitcoin, my main reason to hold bitcoin became self-preservation, even if the fiat system could last way past my life expectancy at the same time it is already showing worrying signs, and I do not want to waste all my efforts by keeping my savings in a currency that losses value every day, and as such bitcoin is one of the assets I decided to hold in order to preserve the value of the money I have saved over the years.

My adoption of crypto, mainly Bitcoin, is driven by several factors:

• Decentralization: Bitcoin operates without a central authority, giving users more control over their funds.
• Scarcity: With a capped supply of 21 million coins, Bitcoin preserves its value over time.
• Financial Inclusion: Bitcoin offers access to the global economy for the unbanked and underbanked.
• Hedge Against Uncertainty: Bitcoin can act as a safe haven during economic and political turmoil.
• Transparency: The public nature of the Bitcoin blockchain ensures accountability.
• Philosophical Belief: Bitcoin embodies principles of freedom, empowerment, and privacy.

They go beyond mere profit and reflect my belief in Bitcoin's potential to revolutionize finance and empower individuals globally.

I adopted cryptocurrency for profit trading. And it's been proven over the past few years to get that advantage. I prefer investing and trading and it's going very well so far.

It shouldn't be too complicated because I need money to make ends meet and I will always be looking for ways to provide money for me. And I discovered it from investing and trading, so that got me into crypto.

And that reason is also used by people, including institutions starting to join crypto. They also want to earn from crypto so they decide to invest in crypto. Even though they don't use trading, they can get a decent profit by investing in crypto.

I regard cryptocurrencies as a futuristic investment and savings instrument. While it is true that Bitcoin was not originally conceived solely as a medium of exchange akin to traditional fiat currencies, in my country, using cryptocurrencies for day-to-day transactions like fiat is strictly prohibited. Consequently, I am unable to utilize them for purchasing goods or food as doing so would violate the law.

Though I could resort to clandestine means, there still exist traditional, yet effective, ways to procure essential goods and basic necessities. Therefore, my adoption of cryptocurrencies is primarily driven by the hope of reaping future benefits from the purchases I make using them.

Half of me would say that I would like to adopt crypto specifically Bitcoin because it allows me to earn some profits for quite a while, while the other part of me says that I'd like some crypto in my life as I do not want any authorities knowing how much I hold and how's my buying power when my Bitcoin is converted into cash.

It's just each and their own, OP. There are others here surely that are just for profits. Not everyone is fan of in-depth technological stuff, and it shouldn't be anyway.

I am in Crypto only for money. Not earning, mostly learning about money. Crypto or Bitcoin literally taught me how the market(s) work, what is demand and supply, Blockchain technology, investment risks, Dollar Cost Averaging, profitability, and much more. I am all about money and it has enabled me to take smart risks at various prospects of life.

I just love everything revolving around Crypto and it's a brain booster for me. I love new applications that are taking advantage of Blockchain technology, etc.

Bitcoin have done more wonders in my life than anything else, I had nothing but I believe in Bitcoin in 2016 and I followed my mind, thanks to my supportive parents too, who never doubted my believe.

1. In the past years bitcoin have been the only thing that rescue me from poverty and since it always add value as time goes on there's no reason for me to get out of Bitcoin and till date I am still accumulating Bitcoin for long-term hold and I will keep doing so for a very long. Of time maybe till I get retired or even pass it down to my children if possible,. Few years from now I believe that many people were talking about bitcoin only has the accumulation or adoption rate of Bitcoin still very low right now.

2. I am from a country where even the law enforcement are the ones in power, they like harassing youths and when they find out that you are worth more than you look they find a way to drain you out so crypto or let me say bitcoin has been a safe Haven for me to keep my money out of the bank and out of any centralised entities and there is no way anyone can know my worth unless I talk about it, I worth more than I look and that's because of Bitcoin.

Actually, make a profit is the most important one, because if Bitcoin were constantly making losses, and eventually went to 0, all its essential attributes, such as decentralization or limiting supply, would become useless.

But profit aside, I only hold Bitcoin because it is a way of storing and transferring value that does not depend on a state or banking institutions. Which at any given moment I could take with me wherever I go if I had to flee. This, and its limited nature make it a premium financial asset, if not the best, and has a lot to do with the price increase it has had since its inception.

My reason is to keep my money safe and take profits. My holdings are safer in Bitcoin than in any bank or stocks. And not just because of inflation or anything like that.

I like to be free and financially independent. Bitcoin and other crypto gives me this freedom.

   Well, one has to admit it's becoming progressively clear that cryptocurrency is no more the new kid on the block and is here for a long term. Cryptocurrency is a lasting trend that'll proceed to supply advantages for individuals and businesses into the future.

  A major reason for my adoption of cryptocurrency would be the aspect that it isn't managed by a national government unlike the fiat currencies and the low risk of mishandling cryptocurrency as there's no paper version. There's also transparency in transactions, bringing forth accountability.  You're in control of your assets.

Bitcoin is actually a new thing back in the years and a lot of people believed that it could easily be the future of currency, I guess it is because of the trend where Bitcoin could be the future of all currency or digital currency. I mean, to be honest, I didn't believe that Bitcoin is going to be the main currency because its nature is its decentralized government would really use something like that as a currency, I mean inflation is a big thing in fiat currency because the government continues to print more money and it's just a big problem but on Bitcoin, there is only limited supply so the government would really support something like that they can't control and they can't print for sure.

Probably companies, governments, etc are starting to recognize cryptocurrency and blockchain which is why it started to adapt around the world, the technology was already used around the world and it continues to adapt until today, for sure Bitcoin is going to be a part of the future but it wasn't going to be the main fiat currency. For me adaptation was just because Bitcoin is just a great technology.

I really don't want to lie, I come into this market for profit, profit is my primary concern, and then I use bitcoin to store assets that I don't want the government to know about. It means that in addition to using bitcoin to invest, I need bitcoin to create my own bank because I don't fully trust the bank nor the government. Those who say they come to crypto and bitcoin because they want privacy, want to get away from the government...not for profit, I won't believe those people.

With the ongoing issue within the crypto space, specifically with the issues of FTX that happens did you think there is absolute security of asset in cryptocurrency? Also did you think there are some other CEX that can still offers the protection of asset and the privacy you talked about, i heard some exchanges are not KYC mandatory too

The major reason that brought me to cryptocurrency is to make money. It is after I have started to understand what cryptocurrency are that I saw other good things that cryptocurrency can be used for.

The categories of people attracted to cryptocurrency and their reasons sometimes

People in search of money, that were introduced to cryptocurrency as a means to get rich. They had the idea of cryptocurrency as something to get rich from, but now they know better since adopting cryptocurrency.

People that are rich already, just need to invest.

People that are looking for ways to hide some of their money from people, say their partners or the government.

People that were looking for better ways to send money to people in other country.

Individual reasons for adopting cryptocurrency differs, for me, my reason are centered on these reasons mention below.

1. Security
2. Anonymity
3. Decentralization
4. Potential for upward returns.

Security: digital asset is protected from theft, hacking, suspicious and unwanted activities within it's jurisdiction.

Anonymity: the identity of individual participant is unknown and  kept secret.

Decentralization: this digital asset is not controlled by the Government or any institutional but rather it functions is been triggered and managed by distributed system network around the world.

Potential for upward returns: the possibility that the value of cryptocurrency to increase significantly is on the high side.

The aforementioned are my major reasons for opting for cryptocurrency, everyone wants freedom and transparency, I will say, that's what digital assets stands for, but note investing type is not a short-term stuff, because you might be disappoint along the line, the best mindset is long-term because there is know magic in this investment, it is controlled by the influx of people, the more investment and high demand of this commodity, the more pumps it attracts.

For me, it's all about financial sovereignty. Cryptocurrency gives us the power to control our money without relying on centralized institutions. Plus, the potential for financial inclusion is huge!

I just think of adoption as a more complex activity where it's only implemented in a real business and interacting with bitcoin users around. So far I don't think I'm adopting bitcoin, trading and forum income is nothing more than passive income from the internet.

Can you really ignore the "make profit" aspect? Really?

I believe that's the single most important reason for adoption of cryptocurrency to this level. If bitcoin price had never shown such kind of upward movement, only 5% of the current population would have adopted cryptocurrency, to be honest.

Privacy and decentralised network are technical terms and common people really do not want to understand such terms. You show them money, and they are in. That's exactly what's happening here as well.

Anything that will offer you more income when you invest your money with, I believe you will want to invest in so that you will obtain a big return, and crypto currency is becoming more better and trusted, because it is a market that is becoming stronger. I recommend that you check into bitcoin investing because you can make a good profit. My interest in Bitcoin and other crypto currencies is motivated by the decentralized spirit of peer-to-peer, permissionless banking. Most investors acquire cryptocurrencies because they hope to profit from it.

My reason for "adopting" cryptocurrency is not something profound, I just want to be able to grow my money without the hassle that a basic investment institution offers and I want to buy a lot of stuff and travel in places and eat good food, if crypto or bitcoin helps me do that then so be it.

People talk about financial freedom but what does it really mean? I have heard of it and have used it but I don't really know what it actually means. If it's freedom from financial institutions, I don't see it because most of us still use fiat in our daily transactions, we are still slaves to consumerism which is an engine of the financial institutions that we so hate so I don't know if we're truly financially free.

Here's the reason for all of us, investing in bitcoin makes no sense if it doesn't turn out to be profitable for us. I don't believe people will still hold or stay loyal to bitcoin if it becomes stable and no longer generates profits. Of course, we still use it, but there won't be as much interest in it as today.

But you can freely control your money with bitcoins, you don't need to depend on banks or any 3rd party when storing assets. It can be said that we have full control over our assets when using bitcoin. But you are right, that does not mean that we will be completely free, as many people say, because we are still dependent on fiat, on the banking system, if we want to continue to exist.

We must not only adopt cryptocurrency just for investment or profits. We must appreciate the real use case of cryptocurrency because at first, that is the goal or purpose of cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin whose goal is solving the current financial problem and having own bank from our pocket without any centralized authority to control our funds. The op asked about everything apart from the profits, so I'll focus on that. I like the idea of money that isn't tied to any particular country and is fully under the control of the community. I also enjoy being able to set the fees and transfer money without relying on a bank or another centralized service to do that. But that's all about Bitcoin, not about cryptos in general. I haven't used altcoins since 2019 or so, I just don't believe in their usefulness anymore.

I want to let you to comprehend that cryptocurrency is a digital currency and same time a decentralized currency, and bitcoin in particular is part of cryptocurrency and bitcoin is the major reasons while people adopt cryptocurrency, so from my understanding concerning bitcoin I will say that the reason while people do adopt bitcoin is as result of bitcoin independent kind of currency and its virtual currency, so government have no power over controlling or regulating bitcoin across every countries, it can be allow to be regulated in only in a country that devalue bitcoin, so the essence of people investing in bitcoin is because it doesn't have a third party during the investment, so people do invest with cryptocurrencies and mostly bitcoin because of its privacy. And while cryptocurrency is not been adopted generally across other nations is that government is having the mindset that bitcoin or any other sub bitcoins can be use for money laundering act, that is the reason I sense that is making bitcoin not to be fully legalized and adopted. Some persons invested in bitcoin with fair and that's when information of bitcoin goes negative many investors  go in rush to cash out their funds.

For me, getting involved in cryptos is more like enjoying freedom, both financial freedom and physical. I saw crypto as the innovation in economics that is shifting financial dealings out of the hands of middlemen seamlessly and I had to embrace it. Sincerely, despite the losses I've incurred from my noob days till now I still don't have any iota of regret embracing cryptos. I like being able to do my business from any part of the globe I find myself. This is what crypto businesses – trading, investments, writing etc have been able to do for me. Crypto is a big win for me. It's like having my own cake and eating, so to say.

Half of the people using crypto use it for making profits. They don’t adopt it. Yes they use cryptos as it is not surrounded by any law, and you have complete access to your own finances independently. People have surely seen what capable Bitcoins are and hence they are buying and investing it. But this doesn’t mean they completely adopting the cryptos. I have also seen people not spending much of these cryptos in online transactions as they know that these coins are valuable and soon the price will go up. So instead of giving away the coins, they prioritise holding them.

For me the main reason for adopting Bitcoin is having access to opportunities and advantages I couldn't have with fiat, neither on my local area. With Bitcoin I believe to be protecting my money on long term against inflation and potential government's seizures, while being possible to offer my services online to people from any corners of the world and profiting for that without being abusively charged by middlemen services such as Paypal or even the Central Bank on the moment the money arrives on the national banking account. I see and enjoy more the practical benefits of BTC than the theorical, ideological ones, to say the truth.

I know and join crypto just because I want to make money. In fact, when you are a newcomer away from your family and step into a very important money-conscious environment, of course the most desirable thing at that time is to make money. Me too so while researching part-time jobs and opportunities led me to cryptocurrency. This is really a good job because the numbers, the economic news are all things that I am also learning. It helps me a lot not only to make a living but also to expand my knowledge.

Cryptocurrency was introduced to me by a friend in my service service and in my service I was paid small amount of money for up keeping so he told me that I should saved 50% of my salary in bitcoin every month, though I have been attended seminar before but was not really well taught,so I join the forum to learn more and invested it bitcoin. And this is my reason of adopting bitcoin though they are other factors also compelled me to join the new trend of technology but this is the most convince one. Everyone has their own part to join the cryptocurrency Space. And today, I am very much happy that I am in this family. I have not regret to join crypto space.

The profit thing is what we are looking for in the bitcoin/crypto space if there is no profit then there will not be many enthusiasts let alone mass adoption then this will not happen, but behind that profit there is certainly a positive value that bitcoin is considered an important asset today and the future.

I myself am about adoption, can not be done for any payment in my country only as an investment asset, the rest I can be privacy with the assets I have, including in buying other needs on a website that accepts bitcoin but if caught by the government then this is against the law.

Do you know that we are being slaves to the governments and those who are in power? We work hard 24/7 to earn the fiat money and these government people get free money (for themselves) by printing the fiat currency. Due to inflation, the money we earn loses its value over time. There is inequality in the distribution of wealth in society and this holds true for every country.

Bitcoin solves all these problems and this is my reason (other than to gain profit) for the widespread of bitcoin and also making it a global currency worldwide.

Bitcoin offers lower transaction fees than traditional online payment systems. It's decentralised providing potential for high returns and independence from government interference. It allows for easy & fast transactions internationally with transparency and anonymity. Bitcoin can also be a hedge against inflation or economic instability.

When it comes to money, Is there anything greater than being in charge or controlling your funds without a 3rd party?  Cryptocurrency is the sweetest thing that happened in our time, precisely Bitcoin. Then in terms of what is happening today, “inflation” is ravaging various economies, and the purchasing power of our money is being reduced by inflation, as they say, the value of money is what money can buy, it is worth hedging or owing and adopting a deflationary cryptocurrency like Bitcoin,  and that proves my reason for cryptocurrency adoption.

When you low fees it can be argued because when making transactions with fiat currency which is a traditional currency in other ways round, I may say that fee of bitcoin transaction is not lesser than fiat currency, but we should consider is the aspect of faster transaction between traditional currency and cryptocurrency and especially bitcoin, we can say that bitcoin transaction is intercontinental kind of transaction and it be that bitcoin transaction might be delay due to network challenges, but I will testify that bitcoin transaction is faster than the one of fiat currency. In summary bitcoin can be transferred from one country to another country because the fees are same in any country, if done a mistake by portraying these points of mine, you can add your suggestions to correct me.

Having complete control and decision-making authority over your own hard-earned money is the best feeling in the world today. The flexibility, anonymity, privacy, and security it offers are compelling reasons for people to accept and use cryptocurrencies for monetary exchanges and savings. People talk about reduced transaction fees, but I don't think it's a major reason to utilise cryptocurrencies. For me, the entire ownership, privacy, and security it affords is reason enough to adopt it.

Everyone has their own reasons.  :-)  Mine: the coolness of the tech when I read about it a bit over 13 years ago, freedom and the ability to protect oneself and the products of one's life from authoritarians and statists the world over whether they are fascists, socialists, monarchists, communists or anything related.  The privacy, pseudo-anonymity, uncensorability etc all are tools against those who believe they have the right to the products of your life merely because they want it and you have no right to your life.  It is an evil philosophy, espoused by many over the millennia, including the US democrat southern, slave-owners and it is tried the world over today just using more flowery language.

(Obviously, in 2023, profit has become a nice thing although in 2010 many people weren't as focused on it as now, they just liked the tech.)

Firstly,  crypto currency offered me a way out of the financial crisis I was in at the time and I must say that it is s solution to prying eyes and noses.
I have gotten to the stage wherein it affords or rather accommodates my transactions irrespective of where I am.
If not for the fact that government sees it as a competition to CBDC, I would advertise its success to my neighbors, friends and family.

I assume there is nothing wrong to adopt Bitcoin for any purpose. Although Satoshi created Bitcoin for a digital currency, he probably won't blame us to adopt is as a digital asset. As long as it can be good for Bitcoin and its future, no problem for adopting it as a digital asset and take profits from it. With the potential profits from Bitcoin, it even makes people more interested to adopt it. I my self adopt it for investment purpose as well. Since in my country we can't use it as a currency, we can use it as a digital asset at least.

I'm here main for profits since opportunity is wide on cryptocurrency scene and see a lot of potential that we can gain more from here since many people are now doing some business in related with cryptocurrency. Maybe my second reason is the technology since aside from banking system or any other mode of payment overseas we can use bitcoin as direct payment to anyone who use it especially if we need some service to do or even send money easily with less fee to our relatives.

If asked what the reason is for being in the crypto space at the moment is certainly for profit.
I don't want to be a hypocrite by just saying because of the technology, the advantages that Bitcoin or some other crypto investments provide have made me and my family able to survive.

The word adopt can mean quite broadly, adopt in its own use maybe by making transactions using crypto, but not for transactions that are used daily.
People getting into crypto have many goals, but their main goal is of course to profit from the fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin and other cryptos.

Im guilty with this on which on the time that i have seen online on how to make money then it do involves those hyips which do give out that kind of profit or return on 24 hours timeframe on which on the time i have seen

that the main coin that they are really requiring is bitcoin and this one really make that out some curiosity on  what it is and on the time that i do know on what it is and having the value then comes after about
on having those study on whats the real usage of it on the time that i do able to read up the whitepaper.It does have  the utility on which this is been mostly been missed out specially to those newbies
who do come after for quick bucks.Somewhat, recognition and adoption is really that normal in moving because it is really that indeed could be seen on how some governments are already making out some integration when it comes into its existence and utility on which we could really be able to say that it isnt really just good for investment side but also in other things as well.

Doesnt matter on what would be your intent would be as long it would really be that beneficial on your part then this what matter the most. Utility and investment opportunities

The reason why I adopt crypto currency is because it provide liberation,  opportunities,  it stand as true symbol of democracy and also solve some issue cause of by fiat currency which make it something everyone that want something more in the future ought to adopt.
Having said that,  to be honest the end reason why we all adopt crypto is the profit making which I believe is one the important reason of making an investment.

It all started accidentally and my early day thoughts were upon the earning it provides. Later understood how good is this against the banking. Further on exploring more about bitcoin understood the need of bitcoin. Now the importance is much upon investment, trading and gambling. The only difference between crypto adopters or investors is that we all have different goals that have been set to archive with the profit from our Bitcoin (crypto) investment. What some are not only certain about is what they will use their ROI to do. Maybe your topic should have been "the goal that one has chosen to archive with their Bitcoin ROI.

I choose cryptocurrencies, specifically bitcoin, I could not compare this currency with the rest, especially for the purpose that it was created, this asset gives me the freedom to a world where you are not controlled by your assets, where you can use them without having to ask permission to withdraw an exact amount since it exceeds the limits established for said transaction, in addition to the fact that the security that bitcoin provides greatly exceeds that of banking entities. All these aspects are what make me choose it, and of course the possibility of saving and increasing those savings considerably... the profits obtained when using BTC cannot be ruled out, in this society money is what moves the world, if it not  possible  have a sum that allows for stability, we would have to live in constant anguish... can you imagine getting old and not even having a way to buy food, now that you have the opportunity to invest in this technology to be able to have life insurance when you can no longer work, you must make the most of it.

I think the problem cryptocurrency solve is the reasons people use cryptocurrency. Some people's reason may be privacy and security. Others may be because they're sick and tired of the centralized system of the banks and government.
For me, it's the fact that inflation doesn't eat deep into my savings and my savings can also be an investment.

I don't want to be naive but I am in crypto especially in bitcoin is for profit.

I have the same reason, mostly with the replies I have read in this thread. Personally, I also adopted and got interested in cryptocurrency simply because of its potential investment opportunities.

It started way back in 2016 when my friend mentioned Bitcoin to me. At first, I was skeptical about it and even questioned if it was really possible to earn from such. At first, everything was just based on what I had heard, and then eventually, I learned and experienced it myself. It has been a wild ride, and my losses have served their purpose as my lessons. The volatility of the market can be nerve-wracking at times, but yeah, it also provides opportunities for those who are willing to take risks.

Also, cryptocurrency's anonymity and decentralized nature attract people to adopt cryptocurrency as it is not subject to the same regulations and limitations as traditional currencies, which others may prefer giving them greater financial restrictions.

Not cryptocurrency but Bitcoin. The reason for me to adopt it should be the decentralized nature that it has. Also, the fact that you can send it anywhere at any time. No strings attached to any centralized entity. Privacy, security, fast transaction, all of these are possible via Bitcoin usage. Yes inflation can be overcome by investment in crypto but some people just hear that bitcoin is an asset that aids in the expanding of one's wealth and quickly invest a greater  amount of money so bitcoin do not proves to be good for such individuals.

I highly doubt that it would be something that would be logical at all, I find you do not really need a reason beyond what you should have in crypto, which is the fact that there is no centralized organization that can ruin it and that's why I feel like I think it was a situation that require me to move to crypto and just be fully merge myself with the crypto world as well. I am sure most of the people know why they are "adopting" crypto currencies. Almost all of them are doing it for the "profit". I doubt right now anyone cares to use it as a regular currency. They all invest with the hope of making some nice profit in the long run. I bet most of them will eventually sell their coins and continue using fiat currency. Yeah, there are few people that does like to use crypto currencies as a regular currency, but that's like 1 in 10 and they have their own reasons. I guess because it is too volatile for which people don't want to use it as a regular currency? Maybe in the future, when there is a clear framework in the usage of crypto currencies and support from the governments, people will be using it as a regular currency because it being so  much better than regular fiat currency.

I have carried out very few transactions in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies but then it is not an everyday occurrence. Why this is so is because the government is yet to adopt it. Yeah' financial independent/freedom entirely is what everyone desires, with fiat money you can be the owner of the money but not in control of how and when it should be spent, but bitcoin gives us both desires where we are owners of our asset and have the financial control over it without any centralized authority putting limitations and policies of regulations. More than that it gives value to our money against any inflationary situations and still keeps us in profit.

I think that crypto technology is a business, so one of my goals is to make a profit from it. even a developer of a project also has the main goal of getting profit. Maybe another goal is to be able to understand more deeply about this technology. However, other goals will definitely keep coming, and end in increasing profits. It is really like a business where you are after sales, and the second one is to serve or help your customers, but the main reason is for money. Like in crypto, your second reason would be using it as a payment method, as it is fast, easily seen, and also decentralized. Though there are really few people who are into crypto because of its usage, they are using it on a daily basis, like for payment or sending money all over the world, but again, only a few of them.

The truth is it depends on what the intention is, I have a lot of friends that keep USDT just for flexible saving on Bitget so that they can equally make profit, where as USDT is a stable coin too. So people can hold stable coin once they know it has utility.

My reasons for adopting...i think it's meant to be bitcoin but if you actually mean crypto currency then sure.
The no 1 reason why I'm into crypto currency is cause, fiat currency is losing its values every single day. Bitcoin is volatile, sure, but it's way much more better as a store of value than the fiat currency.
Also, I see crypto currency as a revolution, and just by owing a fragment of it, I am also part of this revolution.
Thirdly, it's a really cool asset. We're in the 21st century, and investments just keeps on getting better and better. I'm a futuristic kind of person and I strongly believe that bitcoin investors are going to be the richest in years to come.

I simply go in this space because of profit i will get, it intrigue me the most. But later on i see that there are lots of interesting things you can achieve after i gained knowledge financially, security, privacy, supporting the network, etc. I even create simple videos on how-to, blogs, usually for beginner guides, but since it requires lot of dedication to continue and with my work irl, i stopped. But i still give help when some newbie asks, but these were back on those days say 2016-17.
Now, there are lots of tutorials online, people just need guides what is good and bad practice to avoid getting rekt of scammers, hackers, trading experience, investments, etc.

I think using the word cryptocurrency to describe bitcoin and the other numerous coins seems vague and misleading. Personally, I was much later I heard the word cryptocurrency as I was already using Bitcoin for payments in various businesses that accept Bitcoin. So it will not be out of place to paraphrase the question to read What is your reason for adopting bitcoin.

I am posting this because people have so much used the word cryptocurrency to lure unsuspecting people into buying shitcoins and this gives a general bad image for other genuine and amazing coin like bitcoin. So, if we can draw the line and make some clarifications like calling whatever coin it is by their name, I think it will help.

Being here for profit is not a bad thing and it will never be. We have our own reasons why we are having courage to invest in anything we think would be profitable. I have tried to adopt cryptocurrency for a few reasons because I think it will not bring much good for those who are behind in technology in today's world. Is gaining profit the wrong answer here? last time I checked everyone was still so inclusive of whatever reason you're in for bitcoin. Didn't know you guys are now shitting down on "for profit" people just cause they don't send as much "noble messages" as the "for development and building" guy.

I'll proudly say that I'm here because of the profits. I don't think there's anything wrong with that especially if you're playing you're cards right. I get that we're hating on the paper hands out here that sell at the first sight of a dip but at the same time, you can't really blame them, they entered bitcoin like the most of us, without prior knowledge about it besides what we got.

I realized that I first entered crypto because there are those who show off the benefits of crypto often appearing on my twitter and youtube homepage, these influencers provide visuals that are quite disturbing to the eye. so that ordinary people will continue to look for information even by buying crypto even because they are tempted by large profits. We don't realize that they have been given income for free and don't buy from their promotional services, of course they will get lucky even if the price falls bearish because they don't think about the capital spent. the positive side is being able to get to know crypto and continue to learn until now. also the negative side is that there is a sense of continuing curiosity when the price drops for the first time with its high fluctuation.

Cryptocurrency is a really good investment for me. So far my crypto journey has been worth every investment I have made starting from 2015, so I wouldn't say that I regret anything. Like other people because of the money, we know how this crypto makes money to the investors but of course not always there's a winning profit,  I get a ride in the market hype at that time and join into different projects that gives a good profit but with this, it teaches me to get wise and be more observant because not all project really gives profit some of them just a rug and scam projects. Now not only with the use of the crypto as earning but also to adopt more convenient to the platform supporting the use of crypto for their mode of payments.

Nothing actually but you’ve to DYOR and stay vigilant, don’t use any exchange you don’t trust unless their good reviews, also make sure you have a good in-depth understanding to anything you’re doing within the crypto space. One of the reason why I use only Binance and Bitget to trade is because of good reviews.

1:  I'm here to invest and make more money.
2:  I'm here because, I what to have peace of mind. I don't want inflation

I recommend limiting and if possible you are better off staying away from centralized exchanges. In addition to privacy, storing assets on a centralized platform is too risky. When you store your crypto assets on those exchanges, it is no longer yours and you are not in complete control of it. Reputable centralized exchanges like Binance or that bitget also have no guarantee that they won't crash. Don't forget that FTX is also one of the top exchanges until they crash without notifying you.

95% of people in crypto are here for the profits. The other 5% are lying :P

we all love profits, myself included. But its one thing to say you're in Bitcoin for the profit and another to truly understand what that entails. Being in it just for the gains without understanding the underlying principles of decentralized currency might leave you open to some risky bets.

I get it, nobody wants to be the "paper hands" guy who sells at the first sign of trouble. But guess what? If more folks understood the fundamental economics and technology behind Bitcoin, maybe we'd have fewer paper hands in the first place! Nothing wrong with investing in crypto currencies with the goal of making profits. For me personally the motivation to adopt cryptos was to find cheap ways to transfer money online. In the beginning I mainly used bitcoins to transfer money out of CSGO skins. Unfortunately back in the day I didn't think about investing cryptos and building a long term portfolio with different coins. That came only later when I started to look for alternatives to invest my money. Now my goal is to have assets that are outside of the fiat universe and can't be influenced by the central bank. High inflation and the deterioration of the value of my savings are my main fears why I am investing in crypto currencies. Also, it helps a lot to get more people to invest in cryptos if you make a decent profit with it.

And usually people who have considered interesting things related to technology, as in the example of Bitcoin, these people will not carelessly give up Bitcoin because they prefer to collect it and think of it as an investment for their old days. Reviews are the main thing that must be seen on an exchange so that when there are problems that we don't want, we as users can directly contact their service because usually an exchange with good reviews has activity in the service sector which is so good. Apart from that, I also agree with what you said that each of us should have a better understanding of all things related to the crypto space so that we can avoid bad things and keep doing research on new things that we don't know about.

It is very difficult to completely stay away from centralized exchanges and it will be even more difficult if you are a day trader. You won't have much choice as decentralized exchanges are still quite limited when it comes to features like trading. But you are right, we should limit storing our assets on centralized exchanges as we do not have full control over our assets. They can freeze or lock our account at any time, just like the bank did. We can still use them for other needs such as trading, and converting to fiat but never leave too many assets on it for a long time even if it is a reputable exchange like Binance.

In my personal opinion, the factor of getting profit is the main factor, which makes many people in the world decide to invest or trade in cryptocurrencies. It's simple: there's money. As much as I would like to use flower terms and be technical about it, it is the simplest and most upfront answer. Cryptocurrency gives me another source for steady income. It allows me to be more secure and confident that I have money that is there for me to access anytime I need that is not reliant on my everyday job.

Cryptocurrency is legally unstable, that's why most people consider cryptocurrencies as a tool to make profit only. However, fiat money acquired by cryptocurrency trading is a bit legally unstable too. The other reason is lack of adoption, most business initiatives never accept crypto without crypto to fiat transfers.

The ineptitude of industries, government agencies and other parastatals is the major reason why I joined the blockchain space and the cryptocurrency arena. After haven seen a good alternative to the slavery that was ongoing in loads of sectors, I couldn't have considered anything else but blockchain technology.

The fact that anyone would not want to miss out on looking at what transpired during the previous bull run struck my interest the most. I pretty much got thrown in it about 9-10 years ago.

Was in Japan at the time and offered a service to buy stuff on demand. 1 guy contacted me about buying some stuff from several flea markets as well as Japanese Pokemon cards  ;D .

When we discussed payment he suggested he could pay in bitcoin, which I never heard of actually. Since bank transfer was a pain in the azz and I didn't trust Paypal I thought ok, let's do it. It wasn't a high amount so I thought it's a good experiment. Well everything worked out and I made some more deals with him, always getting paid in btc.

Only "problem" was , I sold my btc WAYYYYYY to early, after they went up 50% . The price at the time was around 100$ for 1 bitcoin.  :P . Well done.

There's always a solid reason behind the reason why everyone chooses to adopt cryptocurrency. Mine is through a wrong investment in a certain altcoin which was introduced to me by someone I respected so much and I later learned about Bitcoin after making a loss through the altcoin investment. It is not something easy though because I had through a lot of emotional healing before I could come back into crypto and that's why I was able to understand newbie's negative statements about crypto when their first experience was sour.

Having said that, I am curious how the guy was able to convince you with payment of currency you hardly learn about.

Long story short, I checked the recent price chart and saw the price is steadily going up at the time. So I thought, why not, let's give it a try. I had no clue about any crypto, just saw that it has value and can be sent instantly.
So basically he didn't have to do a lot of convincing to get me on board. And like I said, it wasn't a lot of money so the risk was ok for me.

From that point I never regretted starting with it, only selling too early at several occasions.

Not sure whether Bitcoin is an ideal investment or the right place of store of value, but people prefer to invest in Bitcoin because the value is growing constantly. We can compare the prices of Bitcoin from one bullrun to another bullrun, we can find out that there is a significant increase of its price. That becomes the motivation of everyone who decide to put their money on Bitcoin investment. However, note that Bitcoin investment is  always high risk, there is no gurantee for profits and the price is very volatile. So, everyone who believes in Bitcoin must accept the risk consisting in Bitcoin.

Regarding the function of Bitcoin as a digital currency, it is still not available in each country. In my country, it isn't allowed to use Bitcoin for payment tools both for goods and services. So, don't assume that we can use Bitcoin for paying the all sought of commodities. Make sure it is legal on the country that we want to take the transaction with Bitcoin. We must avoid to use Bitcoin illegally that could lead to negative assumptions about Bitcoin.

I am adopt cryptocurrency for various reasons, including the potential for high returns on investment, decentralized nature, security features of blockchain technology, international money transfers, privacy, and as a hedge against traditional financial systems.

Bitcoin is quite volatile, how can it be called a store of value, volatility is more suitable to be an investment. If we talk about store of value, I think there is no better asset than gold in that respect.


Not only with bitcoin, any investment will be risky and there is no guarantee of profit, including gold or real estate. Everything has risk and the higher the risk the higher the return we cannot expect high return but low risk.


It is possible that in the future bitcoin will be accepted by some countries as an alternative means of payment in addition to fiat currency. But for it to become a universal means of payment, I really doubt it.

I am a student, I was looking for a way to make money or grow existing capital. I was initially thinking that crypto is something digital money where I can invest my money and it will automatically  grow in 2×,3x in less time.
After after registering on this forum my view is totally changed on cryptocurrency and bitcoin.
You need to ask that question to major people who doesn't understand anything about crypto. Like anonymity, decentralisation, blockchain, etc.

Well, that is definitely the most common misconception that a lot of people have for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general -- investing will give profit that will grow around 2 to 3 times the money initially invested. This is also why there is a negative image and idea surrounding crypto because people think and feel like they were scammed or fooled when they did not get the profit they expected to get in such a short amount of time, which is actually a result of them not learning and doing their own research about how the system actually works.

Well, I do not believe that the person who is in the cryptocurrency and doesn't understand why he adopted it, Every person who adopts cryptocurrency knows why he is in. If I take myself to know why I am in cryptocurrency, there is a lot of reason but I am telling you one of them. If I did a job the whole day and made money and saved it in the bank and gave the authority of my money to the bank or what if the government printed more money and devalued it, so instead of giving my money to the bank I prefer to invest it and make more money instead of lying it in the bank, Also cryptocurrency provides international transaction so this is another reason for adopting it and there are much more reasons but I think this is enough.

Yes sure, my client mostly is international client, so it's the same as when I accept USD for a payment. But instead of USD I use BTC and some other cryptos. I will still need to swap it to my local fiat and then withdraw it to my bank account so I can use it to buy stuff. I never buy any local goods or service with crypto, no one accepting crypto in here anyway.

It started out as a random thing, but over the time it gives the flexibility of being non dependant on traditional institutions.

Can I live without money in my bank account? Probably not, but in any case this is a portion of funds allocated for situations when i need to be in control.

Yes, you said the money involved is not that huge but you seem to already be a person who loves to try new things because despite the money involved is not huge some people can use their new technology that's yet to get enough support and awareness because we talking about the years when Bitcoin is still 5years old.

Have you tried to use any passive income option like flexible savings? It’s actually a good one and it helps users to make profit passively, few exchanges has it though, the likes of Bitget and some other small exchanges
