Using an escrow for Crypto also reduces your chances of being scammed by a huge factor. I assume that using an exchange eliminates the scam risk part, so it does not matter that it is irreversible. I know an exchange (like Mt Gox) can of course go out of business, but it seems like that risk is less than the risk of the escrow company going out of business. High volume transactions are way cheaper than paying depositing , trading and withdrawal fee. All of that 2 times. Many escrows will offer a flat rate for deals. monbux loaned me 0.95BTC a few months ago in exchange of collateral. I recovered my collateral. He also holds a few BTC for me right now for various deals. monbux asked me to provide full terms of the deal and conditions. i also gave him the Skype chat logs where I was talking with the dev. Finally, the dev didn't meet the criteria, and did about 10% of the work at the project deadline time. Dev wanted to release 50% of the escrow to keep working. It was him : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=684476.0 Due to all this, I decided I don't want to be in business anymore with that dev, so monbux sent me my deposit back after I explained to him what was going on. In the end, I'm concerned because I provided all the designed HTML to that dev, so there's a version of my files somewhere in the wild. I've posted multiple warnings over the past few years about impersonators - I have never used or owned a Telegram account and will never email you first. It's really frustrating to read the recent posts here to know that if I had set this thread to INACTIVE/CLOSED, certain scams may have been prevented. I deeply apologize for not being more proactive - life got in the way and I've been inactive in this community since 2018. That being said, you need to be extremely cautious when dealing with strangers on the internet. I have never mentioned that I use Telegram, so not sure why people are so trusting of someone with the same name there, without receiving verification from my account on bitcointalk. Monbux, can you explain how this PGP works? Thanks @nutildah for explaining - yes, it seems like this is a PGP message I signed 6+ years ago with my old address (1Q2CupiU5DfWupRGBQ66QYRqvxoNxGZCcn). It shows as verified because the scammer put the text "Monbux Bitcointalk, [04.07.20 20:00]" OUTSIDE the PGP signed message, so it was ignored by the verifier. Try putting anything outside of it and it'll verify, since the verifier only reads in between the -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- and -----END PGP MESSAGE----- I'd like to thank the bitcointalk community for all the support, great memories, and memes over the past 7+ years. I'll continue to lurk around every once in a while, and hope that by closing this thread + this message, we'll prevent scams moving forward.
