I believe the creation of Bitcoin was/is a gift to the world - a selfless act. I can't explain why I believe this, it is just a "gut" feeling.

Hashcash is open source, do you know if Satoshi gave proper credit in the BTC code? If yes, then saying he "stole it" would seem pretty harsh.

No, he gave him credit so not stole but borrowed. In fact, most of the white paper is borrowed from someone. Why not let the architects of Bitcoin join you? Or were they just not interested.

reading all of these questions.. i see that the majority of them are lame and brainless.. so i see no reason why satoshi would come back to do any interviews, as the questions people want answered will not help the community grow or be of any real benefit.

not all of us are daft.. i am curious about who he is and what his values are. he's hailed as a demigod on here, but we don't know for a fact that he didn't invent bitcoin for his own wealth. he could be the saint that we have painted him out to be, though.

he had from 2008-2011 worth of message archives people have researched over, gavin published the personal emails between the 2 so there is alot about the guy we already do know..

1) it wasnt for greedy personal wealth, although im certain he is not homeless because of bitcoin
2) he is not a demigod, he just brought a few concepts together into a seamless working model. that just "does what it say on the tin"
3) we know he is a single person, with british based education, and where his satoshi username was only used by him. he has collaborated
with others such as Gavin A and others, so satoshi is not a group. but bitcoin would not have been as impactful if it weren't for others.
4) what he wrote in the genesis block shows what his intent/reason for bitcoin was.
most reasonable questions can be answered by looking over the research. but im not going to even bother using the research to answer the lamer questions asked

but lastly 'who he is'
even if he came back using his satoshi account on this forum. who he is is just a curiosity and not a requirement which will help the purpose of bitcoin. infact if you seen the dorian events. you will see exactly why no one knowing is best for his life. not only would there be reporters hounding him forever, but also fans, scammers, thieves, blackmailers. so if you really need a name.. just call him satoshi

The design is that the majority of the hashing power decides which blockchain is valid, in case of a conflict. He did not propose "susceptible to a 51% attack" to be a feature of Bitcoin.

You're really opening a can of worms with that question.  The simple answer is he invented
 a proof of work coin.  Proof of stake ideas came later...and they aren't attack proof either btw.

Were your gut feeling reality this would be the best thing for Bitcoin by a long shot. I discount your for-the-good-of-mankind view unless we learn something new about those 1 million BTC, as unless we know something factually you cannot pretend those private keys won't eventually fall into someone's hands that needs some money more then they need to change the world.

Make no mistake Satoshi knows the weight that having one man own 1 million coins has on the market. He is a very smart man and certainly has thought long and hard about his coins. Yet he has never done anything to remove this burden from the community. While it is true he needed to mine originally to get Bitcoin going, he clearly had no interest in doing it simply to prime the pump, he was collecting Bitcoins.

I view the Million Satoshi coins as the primary reason Bitcoin would fail to achieve world adoption. Can you imagine one person holding 5% of the world's wealth????? it is insane to contemplate. I would go as far as say it will never happen.

If he is truly an altruistic human, then he should come up with a clever way to deal with those million coins. The only hope your gut feeling ever has of being correct is if Satoshi already has a plan but just hasn't executed it yet.

Here are my two suggestions for the altruistic Satoshi that would prove you correct:

1. Satoshi sends all of his Bitcoins to a known address with a lost private key effectively destroying the coins
2. Using a blockchain analytics tool Satoshi finds 100,000 address that are most likely owned by individuals that actively use Bitcoin and sends them all 10 BTC. Of course at least one of those addresses would be mine :)

Peercoin isn't decentralized; the developers sign blocks as valid otherwise it would be possible to perform a history-rewrite attack (i.e., exploit the nothing-at-stake problem).

Well, let's have a look at the evidence, shall we?

1. Those 1 million BTC have not been touched - not a single one - in nearly five years, despite the fact that selling 1% of his coins would net him 6 million USD today. If Satoshi were truly interested in financial gain, there is no logical reason he wouldn't have sold ANY of his coins by this point.
2. We do not know the current status of Satoshi's private key(s). For all we know they could've been deliberately destroyed. That would be done to preempt his own temptations to get rich - although I believe his is a more disciplined mind than would make this behavior necessary.
3. We know at least some of the political motivations for the creation of Bitcoin, such as the whitepaper, his comments via pseudonymous accounts, and the genesis block message. All this data points to a disgust for the modern banking system and the greed it entails.

The probability seems infinitesimally minute that a person brilliant enough to solve the decades old Byzantine General's problem by inventing of the blockchain would also be careless enough to allow ANY possibility of his private keys falling into the wrong hands.

You would have me believe that someone who could sell 1% of his coins and be set for the rest of his life - today, right now - is still in it for the money but holding off on selling for some inexplicable reason? I doubt it.

Bitcoin isn't 600 million USD to Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin is priceless to Satoshi Nakamoto, and I believe that's the point he's making by never touching any of that wealth.

"Government employee" is too broad.  That includes being a janitor at an elementary school, a disgruntled scientist at a military research faciltiy, or Edward Snowden.  So, are there any facts that would hint at him NOT being a government employee, in this broad sense?

But I was thinking of Bitcoin being a government project and Satoshi being the team that designed it.  For one thing, the design is too complex but too "final", with all the problems thought of and carefully fixed in some way; that suggests a team with a mission, rather than an individual working alone on a dream.  Also the US government is strangely ambiguous, even friendly, about a project that is openly meant to let people evade its control. Is that enough facts to "support even a remote possibility"?

I think he left too soon, so that would be my first question, is why did he totally leave it? he could have handed over the keys yet still stayed on to consult. We could post for years speculating what he did and why he did it, he must have had his reasons. But yea, Id like to know what his new projects are as well.

If he doesn't launder his bitcoins, it wouldn't take much to find him, so, my bet is that they are never spent (as he has a shitload that we don't know about) or he will donate them to the cause.. Thats another thing, wonder why he hasn't donated a portion to some important start ups?

I think this is a very good answer. Yes, "he" did come up with the idea of bitcoin, and yes he did invent and implement bitcoin but he does not back bitcoin. He was very specific about this and this is likely why he stopped contributing to bitcoin as satoshi.
