The Most Ancient and Wise Community of the Monero House

The first organization character created to the game, Monero House, is feeling the renaissance.

The organization was established and the House was built in 1-C-A3 in 1450, almost 14 decades ago. The House was designed to be 2-story with 2 mezzanines, but due to the haste in constructing it for the Golden Jubilee, only HG The Bishop and the King were contacted for donations. They split the cost of construction and the lot was donated by the Town. Only the lower half of the House was constructed, and it stands to this day.

The House has a Monero Info Center, a Tavern with a cabinet, and some offices/hotel rooms. The Monero House hotel was the first hotel in the town, closing after 100 years of operation in 1550. The Monero House is proud of its shrewd manager (MGR-5) who is currently leased to HM The King, and is administering the Royal Household, one of the largest households in the game with a 10 NPC strong management and 67 million annual expenditure.

What is happening now is that the Hall of Fame, formerly residing in BCT, will be transferred to CK with all its prizes and privileges. The people who have a rank in the BCT HoF, will be credited an equal rank in the CK HoF. To make the transition possible, the holders of the ancient titles from the BCT era, will have to register to CK. Well, that is as easy as contacting the nearest administrator. For the ones that register during the Ancient era, approximately 10 real-days, the following bonuses are credited:

- 1 CKG (currently valued at about 0.3 XMR) for every 10

I was just thinking about how to create a  little action here...  but yes bumping the thread is at least one good way.  I don't want to spam the main thread, but I think I can make a fairly classy low key plea there shortly.  I shall.

One of the options is to make the donation and send the XMR transaction id of the donation to cAPSLOCK. Could the OP please confirm if this would work? Thanks.

Edit: Correction: Generate and send a payment ID for the transaction not a transaction ID

I believe for the lower Dan levels a simple transaction id or screenshot from an exchange is good... but I will verify, and determine if there is a way to use payment IDs.

I am considering a donation at the 4th dan level just over 200 XMR.
Edit: The coins are in my personal wallet not on an exchange. I still keep my MTGox YubiKey on my keychain by the way.  ;)

That should work for now for verifying larger donations.  Let's hope it becomes a nuisance. The good kind of problem to have.

I completed my donation of 202.33 XMR and provided the payment id to fluffypony via PM.

I generated the XMR payment id as follows:
a) Visit http://www.random.org/integers/?mode=advanced (http://www.random.org/integers/?mode=advanced)
b) Under part 1: choose 64 random integers with each integer between 0 and 15. For number of columns choose 64, 32 or 16. This is for ease of formatting.
c) Under part 2: choose hexadecimal, part 3: choose "As a bare-bones text document (type text/plain)", part4: choose "Generate your own personal randomization right now"
d) Under part 5: choose "Get Numbers"
e) Copy the generated numbers to a text editor, gedit in GNU/Linux, is a good choice and then edit out the non printing characters.

The result is a perfectly valid XMR payment id and unlike using an exchange no third party is aware of it. Furthermore this does not clutter up the exchange's database.

Because it includes the transaction amount plus the change. Let me guess the transaction was sent from an exchange, the exchange deducted 0.01 XMR for the TX fee and sent the balance of 99.99 XMR. The reason I say this is because there is nothing that adds exactly to 100.00 XMR in the outputs, however I do get 99.99 XMR from the outputs.

I will eventually update older donor listings with amounts.  This will make re-dontation and level jumps easier to handle.

As to payment IDs, I do think using ArticMine's method is good.  But I will assume fluffypony will tell me if a donation does NOT come through, and until then I will trust the donor.

my wallet balance was reduced, the Windows GUI by Jojatekok said that it sent, but doesn't show the Send in the transaction history tab. i used a payment ID (9D27A0AB38EDA6A1A7C0D0A17CBD69A4E0D0C88C0A3FF2F1F0614D7CBA34E89E), but i can't find the transaction in monerochain.info when i search by that payment ID.

It seems odd that payment ID is all caps.

Do you have a tx ID and amount?

No TX ID because the wallet displayed it via a dialog box but then it went away (I assumed it would be retained in the transaction history tab).
Amount: 1.05 XMR

I typed out the Payment ID myself, pseudo-randomly, with Caps Lock ON - because I thought the 64 characters had to be of the set (0123456789ABCDEF)

rpietila I know you want to donate and that it should go towards something. I am an investor just like you, and not a developer. But two things I know  Monero really need is multisignature and sign message with addresses so you can verify holdings.
This is especially important for an exchange to be able to be show transparency.

I can't evaluate this matter myself, but just sent 300 XMR to the general dev address and hereby strongly urge the devs to channel 50 XMR towards this purpose if they deem it is a priority.

Thank you. This is well worth watching. One aspect of this presentation that really pleased me is the emphasis on building a strong base at a fundamental level. The database work, in particular separating the storage and logic functions of the blockchain, and designing it to be agnostic to existing FLOSS and propriety database solutions, is the kind of approach that will produce very good returns over the long term and is critically important even though it is not glamorous in the short term. It does provide me with additional confidence that the development team is very much on the right track here.

You don't need a payment ID to donate, only to deposit to exchanges (and in the future, perhaps, other merchants). Just send the donation to the donation address.

You can add a payment ID to any payment if you are using simple wallet by putting it after the amount. It must be 64 hex characters.

Some exchanges and pools let you specify a payment ID for the payments the send you, which is convenient for sending those payments directly to an exchange, but otherwise not needed.

Yes that is correct. I don't know if the letters are case dependent (they certainly aren't for hex in general just not sure about payment ids), but the common practice is to use lower case.

Monero's problem is that it is such a small coin with its $6M marketcap that it is generally hard to extract money out of the holders for development.

That said, during the recent events I increased my holdings and want to donate the corresponding amount of 200 XMR. You can confirm from the devs that it has been paid.

The Monero House in CK is also brewing.. There's a University being built just on the back yard actually, and the value of the site is zooming up. If our benevolence is great enough, the Monero House will be raised to 2 or 3 levels from the current 1, and will start to provide a much increased stream of donations to the donation address as well.

CK is also implementing a "continuous donation", which allows all players to set a daily amount however great or small, to be donated to Monero House, and consequently, the developers! Since the game is paying anything between 0.2%-1.5% daily on the various ingame assets, the donations do not need to be made out of lack, but out of abundance :)

Yes that is correct and it is perfectly fine with me.

If I now understand the formula correctly 8th dan is 5000 XMR, 9th dan is 10000 XMR, 10th dan in 20000 XMR, 11th dan is 50000 XMR, 12th dan is 100000 XMR etc. Then each dan level has multiple diamond sub levels starting with 7th dan.

So 7th dan can have 2, 3 or 4 crates of diamonds,  8th dan 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 crates of diamonds, 9th dan between 10 and 19 crates of diamonds etc.

Yes that is correct and it is perfectly fine with me.

If I now understand the formula correctly 8th dan is 5000 XMR, 9th dan is 10000 XMR, 10th dan in 20000 XMR, 11th dan is 50000 XMR, 12th dan is 100000 XMR etc. Then each dan level has multiple diamond sub levels starting with 7th dan.

So 7th dan can have 2, 3 or 4 crates of diamonds,  8th dan 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 crates of diamonds, 9th dan between 10 and 19 crates of diamonds etc.

My suggestion is to treat the diamond levels for 7th dan and higher as sub levels. We list the sub levels in order within each dan level. For example: 8-9 Diamond, 8-8 Diamond, 8-7 Diamond, 8-6 Diamond  8-5 Diamond 7-4 Diamond 7-3 Diamond 7-2 Diamond etc.  Within each sub level we list donors in order of reaching the sub level. We should also note for 7th dan and above when each sub level is reached. We only list diamond sub levels that are actually occupied.

The Most Ancient and Wise Community of the Monero House

The first organization character created to the game, Monero House, is feeling the renaissance.

The organization was established and the House was built in 1-C-A3 in 1450, almost 14 decades ago. The House was designed to be 2-story with 2 mezzanines, but due to the haste in constructing it for the Golden Jubilee, only HG The Bishop and the King were contacted for donations. They split the cost of construction and the lot was donated by the Town. Only the lower half of the House was constructed, and it stands to this day.

The House has a Monero Info Center, a Tavern with a cabinet, and some offices/hotel rooms. The Monero House hotel was the first hotel in the town, closing after 100 years of operation in 1550. The Monero House is proud of its shrewd manager (MGR-5) who is currently leased to HM The King, and is administering the Royal Household, one of the largest households in the game with a 10 NPC strong management and 67 million annual expenditure.

What is happening now is that the Hall of Fame, formerly residing in BCT, will be transferred to CK with all its prizes and privileges. The people who have a rank in the BCT HoF, will be credited an equal rank in the CK HoF. To make the transition possible, the holders of the ancient titles from the BCT era, will have to register to CK. Well, that is as easy as contacting the nearest administrator. For the ones that register during the Ancient era, approximately 10 real-days, the following bonuses are credited:

- 1 CKG (currently valued at about 0.3 XMR) for every 10 XMR donated during BCT HoF, + 10 CKG directly from His Majesty
- CUL points based on a formula tba
- CUL points spawn Ancient items later in the game
- Titled Ancient in the game + the rank gained in the HoF is Ancient

So yes, based on your earlier donations, you now get bonuses, valuable items that are soon listed to an exchange. That's how Monero works! :)

How come 4th Kyu Monero Supporters get such a low reward? A bag of (the stated prize) hardly seems worth 1 XMR
I am guessing that that is the reason why this Hall of Fame categories does not have any members yet:

cAPSLOCK mostly maintains that list, so I'd suggest letting him know. Not everyone wants to be on the list, so it is a manual process. Typically when letting him know you include a transaction ID, and he's able to verify them with me or another member of the core team, and then Bob's your uncle (or aunt).

Maybe you should put a rule out:
only donations to things funded through the forum funding system or the general dev fund can be added.
this encourages peoplen who are currently working on things, to open a funding project on the forum (f.e. 3rd party wallets, ...)

(for example the donations to artrides' freebazaar can't be counted)

Yeah I wasn't counting the actual House itself. I didn't know where the papers came from. That was mostly a joke, as I have no idea as to their value (if any).

I'm not really sure the mix of where the other assets came from, but clearly pa's contribution was substantial. If you have a better estimate of its value, go ahead and provide it. I won't object your number being better than mine.

I don't know what we are debating :) At the time of mine and David's donation, we only threw in 50 XMR each (and not sure if more later, or who else has donated). It has transmutated itself to be perhaps 4-5k XMR worth of land and items.

If you want to find out the value of the 1450 Satoshi whitepaper, go ahead and sell it! :) I am not selling my 1400 copy of "1984" because I could have converted 106*TS140 silver coins instead, with ask/bid 20/3 XMR apiece.

The 'pa' donation was easily worth 10k XMR iirc but these valuation things are such that the real value is not realized before the thing is sold, and to be more precise, after the money is spent. Then you know the worth  ;)

I think showing others that small people are donating money can incentive others to do the same.
It's better to have 100 (regular) people donating 100 XMR a month than 10 (richer) people donating 1000 xmr a month.
If one drops out from the latter group, it's significant. If one drops out from the former group, it's not really an issue. More resilience ;)

With Monero... I do think it will gain use as a darkmarket currency. The dev team seems competent and dedicated, and I can see a lot of money flowing into it over the coming years. All this can change overnight though. Yes, BTC can incorporate similar features, the devs can leave for whatever reason among other things that will kill the price.

I want to speculate on XMR but right now its a scary spot to get in when the coin just pumped without a correction...... what do?

I'd bring this to the speculation or main thread since it's off topic here. Investing life changing amounts of money and what you can afford to lose are not necessarily mutually exclusive. If you're not near retirement, don't have massive obligations and sleep ok at night with what are realistically risky investments then by all means - contribute meaningfully to projects you believe in.

You should invest in a way that there is as small a chance as possible of all your assets becoming worth zero at the same time. For instance a portfolio of 20% real property, 20% banknotes, 20% gold, 20% mutual/retirement funds and 20% crypto, fulfils this criterion. If real property loses its value, gold goes up to more than make up for the loss. If banknotes lose their value, crypto soars. Etc.

I don't like the "can afford to lose" rule because people misinterpret it to mean "insignificant amount". In fact it means an amount that hurts, yet does not cause house resizing, change in lifestyle or turning to crime to make up for the losses. It can be 10% of net worth, but for some young and relatively poor, even 100%+ is in fact amount that they "can afford to lose", literally.

To have a chance of life changing payoff, you need to invest very methodically, which basically means investing a large enough sum in a quick succession, and then waiting with the investment that it pays off, and never sell. An alternative is to set a selling schedule based on new higher prices, but this method requires more initial capital. I still suggest it because the occasional selling keeps your hand in the game.

Monero core devs are working hard in the chocolate factory, making us amazing crypto treats like GUI RingCT caramel truffles.

OK sure, any specific project that needs doing gets funded within minutes or hours.

But what about aminorex and fluffy's appreciation for fine wine and tacotime's passion for fake Canadian Mexican food?

Let's not forget smooth and Risto also need funds to hire trolls, to better vex the DashHoles.

We must get this thread moving again.  Time to give until it hurts (or at minimum tingles like peppermint soap on sensitive areas).

First of all, I apologize for the amount of time that has passed since my ability to update this thread and the donation list. In light of that, I am sad to have to say that the time really has come for me to stop having the official capacity of updating this list. I know that it is very important to many. And I know that many have given the equivalent how many thousands of dollars to the development of this excellent cryptocurrency. So, at this time I would like to take applicants for my replacement. How should we, the community, choose the person who should Shepard this task from here on out?

I have recently added up the hours I have spent updating this list. It surprised me. It is not a trivial job, but it isn't that much of a load for someone who has the time to do it.

   Thanks for your efforts to date.  For me at least, this thread is just in fun.  I haven't the time, resources or skills to contribute in other ways right now, so I appreciate what others do here all the more.  The large donors deserve recognition if they are willing to receive it.  I sincerely doubt we  could have progressed at anywhere near the rate we have without them.  I know there are some also who choose not to be known - thank YOU as well.  What a ride, and we've just begun!
