Title: C-Cex Exchange (@CryptoCurrEncyX) Scam Warning, Witholding Delisted Coins
Post by: demoniality on August 14, 2014, 08:41:44 PM
UPDATE 20/08/2014: I got my coins back and few others did. I had to be extremely aggressive and tenacious with my methods though.

UPDATE 18/09/2014: It seems others are being ignored now and concerns are rising they are back to their old tricks.

Anyone with low volume alt funds on c-cex beware that in my current, and many others experiences, it is extremely difficult to get this exchange to return your coins to you if it is delisted. In summary:

  • They only claim intent to withdraw delisted coins only once per month.
  • I have been told by many others they have never returned their coins citing bogus technical reasons ie wrong fork or syncing issues
  • I have been waiting 40 days for my coins, 20 more than i was first reassured
  • I was promised a new deadline 3 times in total, each one has passed with zero withdrawals made to me
  • They are currently citing no available nodes for a blockchain which has many available nodes

Update: I linked ccex to the latest github and they have done nothing. Now they have removed the support button when I login! What further proof is needed that they are scammers?

Please add your experiences with C-Cex to this thread.

I will link @CryptoCurrEncyX to this thread to see if they want to do the decent thing by explaining themselves and returning everyone affected with their coins.

I had a similar experience. I had deposited a bunch of TittieCoins, planning to sell them at a later date. I logged in a few days later & BOOM... they were delisted & my coins were gone. I don't recall how many I had on there, as this happened sometime in the early spring. I probably should have contacted them, but I didn't. I was focusing on more promising coins at the time. I just chocked it up as a loss & made a mental note not to deal with them again. There was no warning that the coin was going to be delisted... it just happened. I logged in 2 or 3 days later to sell & they had just vanished!

They have currently switched to ignoring my support requests. It's a far cry from the first few responses where they would end on such notes as "Hope you have a care-free and lovely day ahead ! Leave the worries to me for now :)". That's all very well if you're even attempting to return peoples funds C-Cex...

I sent them a link to this thread so they had the chance to clear the matter up. They have tweeted non-relevant things since then. I think the silence so far speaks volumes. They need to resolve this situation or they are by lack of action admitting they are operating a scam. And if this is a scam, I will go on a crusade to ruin them. I'm sure someone will be able to doxx them if the worst is true.

they should announce it and leave the delisted coins available to withdrawal
not a good point to c-cex
I thought they were more professional

I had no problems with c-cex.com but i always withdrawed my coins before they got delisted so i can't speak of that issue, but it should be fixed ASAP otherwise this will bring really bad reputation about them.

I have exacty the same experience with the delisted UFOcoin withdrawal and I have been posting at different places before.

The last message I got was 4 days ago. Answering regarding their UFOcoin wallet, they said, "  Yes, We did update it and waiting for sync."

What is quite unbelievable is that earlier on, every one would be expecting C-Cex to send your shares of coins back to you during their monthly 'Delisted Coin Sesseion'. But I was somewhat instructed to go to the 'My Asset'-'Delisted Coin' section to withdraw my coins.

But I found out, the Delisted Coin section that showed the balance of the coins was gone.

See copies of the message below.

Sir:

This ticket should not be closed.

Early on 8/6/2014, you stated "coins to be sent within ~48hr." I did provide you with My UFOcoin address to send.

I gave you more than 48 hours.

Now I found out later on 8/6/2014, you already post another message at 10:02:56, stating that I
"could check under 'My Assets' - 'Delisted Coins'. Kindly do so for withdrawal and use the desired withdrawal address."

Now I look at 'My Assets' section of the account, the 'Delisted Coins' section disappears, implying that either you removed the posted amount of UFOcoins from my account or you disabled the 'Delisted Coins' section which won't show up. In either way, it is impossible for me to get in there to do the withdrawal myself, according to your instruction.

Let us emphasize one more time, you should send back my UFOcoins in whatever way it takes because those are my UFOcoins I purchased at C-Cex. We know how UFO blockchains and wallets works and they are working very well now. Please prepare the withdrawal appropriately so that either I can get in to do it myself or you can just send the coin to my UFOcoin address provided above ( and again here

UFOcoins Address: ByKiGZW7tXqfDJoFYVBDpiSpJDhgHAii16 )

I have the patience to see you do it right. And I appreciate it very much.

Hello,

They should have been transferred to your provided addresses. If possible kindly let me know about the amounts you had requested. I will personally speak to the technical team and try to ascertain why it was not transferred, if that is the case.

The delisted coins section was removed because we are looking into other alternatives to make the withdrawal process more efficient, so please don't be worried about that.

Let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

..................................Just to be safe, I did make screen shots of the delisted coin section showing the balance, direct copies and screen shots of messages and discussions at the support ticket, as well as export of all transaction records as Excel Files downloads.

I've been trying to warn people about these assholes.  Here is a pastebin of links to complaints about c-cex.  http://pastebin.com/uTDTTyFP

Granted a lot of that information is old, but is was what I threw together in 5 minutes of googling and searching the forum a while back.

It is worse than withholding delisted coins, they have closed the accounts of those who were victims of the Feb hack rather than pay them back.  I was still owed 3 BTC when they closed my account, and that same day or the next @SATOSHI00000001 was blowing up twitter because they did the same thing to him.  Who knows how much he lost.

I traded on C-cex from day one, tried to stick by them and be understanding after the hack, even made an attempt to help them get more volume back.  Hey assholes, remember GHC and how that was one of your volume leaders for a couple months when C-cex was on life support?  You remember who tipped you off to that one?  I did.  What thanks do I get?  A big fuck you, we aren't paying you back.  Ever.

No loyalty or honor from these pricks.  Stay away.

They are hiding like cowards. Also 4 days without a response from my now 40 day old support ticket and yet you go onto their skype live support and even though they wont let anyone add them as a contact, you can still see things like 'last activity two seconds ago'. What legitimate Business excuse is there for this behaviour? Objectively, there is none, C-Cex is a scam.

We currently have a 2 week policy on all altcoins, if they under perform in volume during a 2 week period they are de-listed. I'm sure traders can understand that due to the amount of coins created and the speed at which they are abandoned is roughly 2 weeks unless the coin shows longevity. As to the issue you had there is always a tweet sent out with the list of coins that are going to be taken off the exchange. This same list appears on the C-CEX site as well. We are working on a solution to email every registered user a list of coins that will be de-listed to help increase awareness, but beyond this the responsibility to remove coins obviously falls on the user to withdraw before we remove the wallets off our servers to make room for future additions.

I apologize for the inconveniences our policies may cause, they were born out of necessity and the changing culture of crypto currency.

Nobody has any problem with this. They have a problem with you not letting them get back their coins once delisted. In my case i requested to withdraw on the next delisted withdrawal session and you have still failed to do this weeks on.

As to the issue you had there is always a tweet sent out with the list of coins that are going to be taken off the exchange. This same list appears on the C-CEX site as well. This is all fluff and irrelevant to the issue in question. The issue is why not, like every other exchange, allow users to withdraw delisted coins? There is no reason, the only reason is theft. Delisting a coin simply means it can no longer be traded, not that the funds become yours.

but beyond this the responsibility to remove coins obviously falls on the user to withdraw before we remove the wallets off our servers to make room for future additions.
More nonsense, what kind of two-bit exchange do you have to be to not be able to keep a wallet on the server until all users that are actively pursuing their funds to be returned, get them? You were assuring me i would have mine every few days and then you vanished. Next thing here you are trying to save face and suddenly the goalposts have moved and you are suggesting you do not give users funds back once a coin is delisted. Illogical, convoluted nonsense.

I apologize for the inconveniences our policies may cause, they were born out of necessity and the changing culture of crypto currency.
This one takes the cake. So something as vague and wishy-washy as "the changing culture(!?) of crypto currency" means you are required to steal users coins once delisted, however hard they have been trying to withdraw them, because you would rather make some free coins then bother to carry out withdrawals that do not benefit you?

Do not try that, you have been promising me my coins for weeks, citing problems are syncing the blockchain as the issue. Now you are trying to slide your stance over to 'once they are delisted you lose them' aka 'once they are delisted we sell them elsewhere'. I put in a withdrawal for my coins when the option was still there and you still haven't returned them to me. All because you claim you couldn't sync you wallet on a blockchain that has dedicated nodes, which you could have done literally several hundred times between my ticket opening and now. What's your response? Why are you ignoring our support tickets?

One moment I'll look up your ticket to verify some information, we are not "trying" anything this is the policy. If the wallet was not syncing then it was not syncing there is no purpose or reason to deceive and if you think C-CEX would risk their name over .00000001 satoshi then you are mistaken.

I believe you are more than familiar with who i am. Me linking you to this thread from my support ticket is they very reason you are here and you know all about my ongoing attempts to get you to rationalise your issue with syncing a wallet that i could do in 30 minutes right now. No excuses. If the wallet isn't syncing, you update the wallet and resync it. Your own claim to another ufo coin user as to which block you were stuck on proved you were on the old wallet. Like i've said to you maybe 3 times before, update to 0.8.7.1 & sync. This is a thirty minute fix max.

There is no need to rationalize, this is what looks like happened with your UFO. The thread has changed 3+ times, our support did not have the 3rd updated github, it looks like we had the second one and it was being delisted during this version of the wallet. When you withdrew your coins most likely you had the updated version that C-CEX was not made aware of, nor the 3rd thread for that coin for that matter. The responsibility of updated wallets relies on developer communication, usually the process is dev team contacts the exchange and pools to update. This did not occur so more than likely your coins were on the wrong fork when withdrawn. I need to confirm this with support when they return to the office, all signs point to this being the cause of the issue. In the future we will develop a plan to make sure people are notified in multiple ways of delistings.

edit: Please post the updated github and I will pass this on personally to support, if the coins are salvageable then you will get them after updating.

Nothing is mistaken.

C-Cex owes me 7.9 million UFO coins/or more in satoshis not 1 satoshi ( not the meager 0.00000001 satoshi).  I got it at depressed prices when you delisted the coin. At the present market no one would be willing to sell it at 100X that value unless in a great quantity; therefore, it is worth at least 10 satoshis a coin even at a fire sale. Any body can easily buy 0.1 million UFOcoins at 1 satoshi each but that price won't happen (- even so it is still a total of 0.001 not 0.00000001 satoshis for that purchase.)

Count it right then you would understand the values,

and do the right things,
and nothing would be mistaken.

What C-cex is doing is adding tons of new coins every day to their exchange. Logically, you cant expect every single coin to perform as big so they delist the coin shortly after practically confiscating folks` funds. This is not a single case but a general modus operandi of C-cex

People should decide to use the C-Cex exchange with extreme caution.

LATEST GITHUB: https://github.com/Bushstar/UFO-Project

I would appreicate it if constant updates are given as your support team both via tickets and skype stopped responding to us for days leading to the logical conclusion (when factored in with others negative experiences) that the coins were stolen by the exchange.

I will push this forward, this will be resolved.

Yet again they have gone into silence. Disappeared from this thread and still ignoring support tickets, despite being online (shown by skype).

They have ripped off many but I can guarantee you unless they sort this out, I am going to keep going for days, weeks, months, years until they are ruined. Wrong guy to steal from. If necessary their real identities will be revealed.

Seven days is ridiculous, and obviously just a way for the people who own and run C-cex to scam.  I find it rather hard to believe that any website could incur significant costs in allowing their users the option for withdrawals, regardless of whether or not the coin is trading.

Why even have a time limit to withdraw coins in the first place?  The person using c-cex pays the transaction fees, and a coin that isn't trading probably isn't eating up their server's capacity.

Scam.  Scam.  Scam.

I'm sure the owners and operators just want to keep massive volumes of coins without any regard or respect for their customers/users.

Won't be depositing anything on C-Cex ever again.

Aside from everything else, this fucking ridiculous policy of theirs creates a scenario where if I even take as much as a one week break from trading, I could lose everything I deposit on the site.

I should hope that once all of their users figure that out, that this awful, awful exchange disappears like the balances of their customers/users deposits.

UPDATE 20/08/2014: ' PRIDE' OF C-CEX RESPONDED TO RESPONDED TO ME IN THE C-CEX TROLLBOX, WENT INTO THE OTHER EXCHANGES THAT SELL UFO COIN AND REUMBURSED ME OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET. I WAS VERY SURPRISED. THERE WAS SOME DEFINITE UNPROFESSIONALISM WITH MY SUPPORT BEING SWITCHED OFF BUT IT SEEMS THE SENIOR OWNER(S) ON THERE DO HAVE A MORAL COMPASS. C-CEX'S DELISTING POLICY IS STILL VERY UNFORGIVING SO DO TRADE WITH CAUTION IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THEM.

Yes our new policy is very strict as the sea of altcoins washes over crypto so must C-CEX adapt to the changing climate. If you have coins on our exchange that are less than .3 btc volume for 2 weeks straight they will be delisted, there will be the normal warnings made to ensure people have time to remove their coins still. I reimbursed demoniality with 4.4 mil coins instead of the 3.2 mil he was needing to show our apologies. If anyone on this thread has coins that can be purchased at another exchange then please PM me with the details of your ticket and an exchange the particular coins can be purchased from. In the email I will need your C-CEX user name as well to verify the ticket. Once these are all taken care of moving forward everyone is now aware of the aggressive approach we now take to eliminate low volume coins and there should be no issues further. Thank you, and I hope we can better serve everyone in the future.

I seem to remember requesting a withdrawal of some coins I had that they delisted when they had a page for it.  I never got them.  When I did send in a support ticket all I got was an email saying they no longer do that and telling me that they announce it on their Twitter account 7 days before.

I can't see myself ever depositing anything on this site again.  The idea of me having to log in every day, or constantly check their Twitter to know whether or not I'll lose my coins is so ridiculous.

I think I should be able to deposit something, put in a standing order to buy or sell at a price I like, and not have to worry about my deposit disappearing because I don't monitor their Twitter account.

This exchange is just crap.    Super crap.

It's insulting that they actually think the community won't see the scam here.  Sure the coin's not trading well and there's not much interest so it has no significant value, for the time being at least.  But they still have massive balances of the coins they delisted they can sell themselves on other exchanges, profiting from ripping off their customers.

I can't tell if I'm more offended by their scheme, or by their aloof attitude towards my requests.

Why carry a coin at all if you're going to delist it two weeks later?  Why not carry a coin with some commitment to carrying the coin?

Having got over the elation of getting my coins back, I have come back round to thinking the delisting policy is basicly theft. There is no reason to not allow you to withdraw delisted coins, weeks, months after they are no longer tradeable. Other exchanges do not take your coins once delisted. Two reasons for this;

1. C-Cex are a two-bit operation that chooses to keep costs low by 'employing' few staff or to maintain extra wallets (this is no excuse)
2. It is thinly veiled operation of theft which probably isn't even openly discussed amongst staff but the ones profiting will know the reason for maintaining such a hostile delisting policy.

I will reiterate though 'pride' at that exchange does seem to care about returning peoples coins. Sometimes it's not as black and white as we would like, there is probably mixture of good and bad actors at ccex.

Who else can really get their coins back from Pride of C-CEX?

In my case I posted here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=739473.msg8525249#msg8525249, got one PM from Pride of C-CEX saying he would be helping, and then nothing else.

It seems Pride of C-CEX either forgets his promises or don't mind losing their customers any more.

Today I PM'ed Pride of C-CEX again as I find I lose my SPN holdings on this exchange  :( So now I have 3 different altcoins lost on c-cex. They are delisted coins Thor, TRL and SPN.

Before I can get back all my coins, I will have to warn everybody to stay away from kind of this exchange.

UPDATE: Since SPN is returned to c-cex and I can see my SPN balance back in my account (as of September 24), now I remain to have 2 different altcoins (Thor and TRL) lost on c-cex.

This was my concern once they started getting real volume. I worry his earlier efforts may have been to protect the exchange from being effectively blacklisted by the community, it was a crucial point in its future. Now it is getting some huge volume of some coins they need not worry anymore and aren't responding. This is an operation not dissimilar to cryptorush.

See below.

C-cex was one of my favorite exchanges a while ago. I hope this gets cleared up.

Not yet !!

Pride @C-Cex PM'd me on August 23, 2014, that he needed "more" time and that he would keep his promise to return my 7.9 Million UFOcoins.

I told him that he had better do it fast; otherwise, It could be very, very costly when the UFOcoin gets listed on another exchange site.

It is going to be another month.

I hope he would have listened. I am documenting here just to show that he should not say later that nobody tells him that.

===================================
No one complains about trading @C-Cex. I liked it so much that I kept on buying and buying and I got 7.9 million UFOcoins, not realizing that I was in a roach motel.
-----------------------------------
I have repeatedly mentioned in the "Delisted coins" tickets to C-Cex at that time, and warned them before a hard fork at the UFOcoin; therefore, they cannot claim that they cannot sync the UFOcoin wallet (that was the very last message I got from the answer to the open ticket at that time) in order to return my coins.

-----------------------------------
In short, despite their policy, they cannot guarantee returning of your coins only when their wallet was not working (such as when it becomes a dead crypto); they wanted to wait a month so that by the "monthly delist coin" session the blockchain stucks and the coin is dead and they do not need to do anything.

That's not the case for the UFOcoin.
-----------------------------------

I have complete backup copies of their answers to my open Ticket for the then-delisted UFO coins.  They answered my requests to reopen the ticket in very misleading ways, such as saying that I could go to the section and withdraw the coins myself; in fact they did not establish any process for me to do that.

They misled, misled and misled.

----------------------------------------------
It is not the policy that is the issue.

When You mislead the whole things, in pure English word that defines "Deceit."

----------------------------------------------

I want to say here again. Pride and everyone @C-Cex,

Don't wait until the UFOcoin becomes very costly. I would not spend it for pizzas or fried rice now.
-----------------------------------------------

You had better understand this.

After a market is deleted, you will have 14 days to remove your funds before we shut down the wallet (provided the blockchain permits it.)

Bittrex only gives 14 days to remove any funds before they shut down the wallet.

Stating the obvious? When it was delisted i instantaneously made a request to withdraw my funds. This is not a one-off, hundreds of people have had their withdrawal requests ignored and coins taken, when requested within the 14 days.

Regardless, think rationally, there is no need to have a time window on withdrawals. This is just a trap. Other exchanges let you withdraw delisted coins at any point after delisting.

No offence, but it is painfully obvious that there are users that have traded on ccex without problems, otherwise the exchange wouldn't be used and this thread wouldn't need to exist. This is for discussion of people's problems with the exchange, not good experiences.

Short answer: The problem is that many people cannot get back their coins after delisting on c-cex.

More details can be found on the first post of this thread written by demoniality.

Of course different people have different stories, and you can read them all here. For my case, I think the root cause is that c-cex suddenly decided to change their delisting policy some weeks ago.

Fun! I just received this response from c-cex support:

Hello! We are very sorry, but we make announce 7 days before delisting in twitter, chat and on main trading page ("Important news") and highlighting coins with red color to let customers withdraw coins we are going to delist. Then we remove markets and give 3 more days for withdrawals. Coins retreival after that is not possible. Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with. Thanks!

So basically, if you are on vacation for 10 days, they just take all your coin and never return it, even though they feel "very sorry." If only there was a way to leave the wallet on the server for a few more weeks, or have support initiate a manual transaction instead of feeling "very sorry," but I am sure the incremental costs would be so prohibitive that, no matter how sorry these crooks feel, they just can't find any way of returning coins to their rightful owners.

It appears that way now but it was not like that back 2 months ago. The words in the posting of  the C-Cex "Policy" have changed. What they are saying now do not give them immunity from claims to return cryptocoins to their holders at that time. They were saying that C-Cex do not guarantee returning of coins in the posting at that times ( but that would only apply to fire, theft or natural disaster of sorts) but incompetence or malpractice of business should not be one of the excuses.

Otherwise, as I stated above, at that time they would not have me, demoniality and others to wait for the
"monthly delist coins section"  where, when the time came, I was told at one time to get there to withdraw my UFOcoins myself; later, their words changed. They said, " Damn! (Linux) wallet not syncing."

Everyone in the cryptocurrency world knows that it is a lie.  Any body can take that wallet.dat file,  copy it into any UFO wallet Client, Sync it and recover those coins. Their Damn!"Linux" wallet-Not-Syncing excuse is outright baloney.

I do not accept that craps. I started to learn programming by using a punched tape to run on a minicomputer back in 1972. I see deeply through what they are doing. I have yet to see them correcting the problems.

I thought Pride @ C-Cex would be an angel in this brutal & bloodless coin world, even just for his thought of starting to do something; but I have yet to see him keeping his promise or someone at the C-Cex correcting the problems.

We need to start tweeting this thread to the popular twitter users who really do make or break exchanges. This is so blatant it cannot be allowed to happen anymore. Rightly, C-Cex's reputation needs to be ruined. As a community we can achieve this. Get spreading the word.

I would think that bitcointalk would be a better source for potential reputation then twitter would be. It is much easier to manipulate twitter stats then it is to manipulate information on here.

You should also not be out to ruin their reputation but rather to get the matter resolved that satisfies all parties. If you ruin their reputation then they will have no reason to make the OP whole again

With all respect, i don't think you understand. Firstly i AM the op. C-Cex have proven beyond all reasonable doubt that they act to defraud 'customers'. The only reason i got refunded was because i made a huge fuss; i hounded their skype, support and twitter until the bad publicity i was giving made it worth their while to try and shut me up. If we encourage them to resolve the current issues and move on, we are just setting up the next crop of newcomers to have their coins stolen too. I don't want that and i know you do not either.

I do not think most realise that alt coins are made and controlled via twitter. The spikes in price you see which you cannot attribute to news are the result of them being talked about positively by one of the known tweeters on cryptocurrency. This forum is regarded as a cesspit of lies and scamming by the wider community. On twitter you get an idea for what is going on, from the interaction between those that have proven themselves or calls you can check from their timeline.

tldr: CCex do are guaranteed frauds and do not deserve another chance, twitter is a public forum where bad exchanges can get ruined in hours by respected community members (example: moolah re mintpal 2.0).

yeah, i got mine back by having to ramp up my 'campaign' to the extent of spamming their chatbox with what they were up to, raising support tickets constantly and tweeting them and others re their behaviours and getting others to retweet them.

Guys it's simple you all need to do the same thing until they feel their reputation is getting (rightly) tainted. Only then will they act to help you, because it then works in their interests.

Never believe in C-Cex!!!

They have frozen my money for more than half a year.

I understand they got a attack that day. But there is no reason to transfer their mistake to my loss.

They seem to return my money for 10 years, which means I will lose my 10 years time value of that money, which is a huge amount!

DO NOT TRADE ON C-CEX, or otherwise your money will also be frozen next time.
