Hi!
I just want to announce a new bitcoin-pool: Swepool!
The pool utilizes the share-model and doesnt charge fees. Approx. total hashspeed is 10GHash/s.
You may visit the webpage at http://swepool.no-ip.org/index-en
After registering, point your miner to swepool.no-ip.org:8337

Can you put current pool speed on your webpage? Then it can be included in http://bitcoinwatch.com/ pie chart.

As a pool contributor it would be useful to know overall pool rate and solved blocks. Thank you for supporting long-polling and no fees!

Pool-speed is going to appear on the site when I get it to work. We have one solved block this far and approx. pool-speed is 1.2GHash right now. Thanks for contributing to the pool!

Will payouts occur right after each found block, after a certain number (which?) of conformations, or…?

Cheers,

If you switch from no-ip I'd be more than glad to join the pool :)
C'mon, a .net domain costs ~$10 (70SEK) a year. Invest! ;)

Or setup a .bit domain?! :P

Can I ask, what software did you use to create this pool? PushPool?

Payment type changed to pay-per-share as a try to increase amount of users. Current compensation is 0.00029220039715181 btc/share which is 2.2% better than deepbit.

Also added login page with different workers for every gpu. You should check it out!

On the way: JSON API, more statistics

If I were you, I'd make English the default language, with a link a the top right of each page to its swedish counterpart. You'd reach more people.

That seems wrong. Transactions must be included in blocks to get confirmations. Don't they?

He might mean there's no need to wait for block confirmations for solved blocks you earned a bounty on. Only thing I could think of

Or maybe since it's PPS you get paid for the share before the block is solved?

Also, only 7.2% fee is ok I guess, but it would be better to write 7.8% rather then '2.2% less then Deepbit'.. might try it though..

You dont even have to wait for a block solve, I pay you as soon you submit a share (and a decent miner submits a share every 5 seconds).

The language is soon going to be english as default and swedish as a choice in settings.

If the fee is 2.2% less than Deepbit, which has a 10% fee, that makes a 9.78% fee.

Code:
10 × (1 - 0.022) = 9.78

So now to the real question, is the smaller fee worth not being able to jump between PPS and Prop on Deepbit when the luck changes?

Another question, is your website caching the profile page at all?

Because when I found my first share it updated and added it instantly, however it has not updated or added any of the shares I've submitted since then.

Regardless of which pool youre mining on, Ive never found those gauges to be accurate.
When I was on deepbit my mhash/s for one of my miners listed anywhere from 150mhash - 250mhash (actual is 220). My payout was always at what I would expect it to be..there just seems to be some variance on the monitor side.

Isn't a zero fee the lowest fee? => http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=4251.0

Not that I really get all the fine details of this model vs that model vs another model of shares and whether or not stale blocks still get payouts etc.

I'm working on a average based view of hashspeed which probably will be more accurate than the current one.

Indeed, since what is shown on the website is an estimate based on the rate at which you submit shares; whereas the mining program is showing the actual rate at which you are computing hashes.

Been trying out swepool for the last day or so... noticing some intermittent connection problems on my miners but generally they seem to reconnect after a few seconds to a minute or two.

I noticed in the settings page I cannot change my payout address.  Tried several times and always just get a blank page after clicking "Save" and the old address is still there when I go back to Profile.

I'm curious what the formula is for calculating the PPS rate, since obviously the rate has changed since the difficultly update.

I just started using your pool, and I plan to mine there full time. I have a question about the worker stats, though. I have two miners, each mining at about 400 Mhash/s. However, in the worker stats, it shows only one miner has found any shares today. Both my miners say they've submitted approx 400 shares, but on the stats page it shows one (Kieslar.2) has submitted 429 at 377 MHash/s, and the other (Kieslar.1) has submitted 29 at 0 MHash/s. Is there a reason for that? Thanks!

Edit: I created a new worker (Kieslar.desktop1) and switched the miner whose stats wasn't showing up to that one and it seems to be updating the stats now.

How many shares would you estimate youre getting per hour with that 400Mhash?

I like the idea of PPS system as i have been using deepbit for a few days now.  I would be willing to switch to swepool, but I would like to be able to at least see the current PPS payout(and see as it changes). I feel there isnt enough information about the site and the mining operations for me to switch from deepbit right now.

Agreed. I would like to see the standard statistics found at pools like Slush's and BTCGuild. But it is still a young pool so I'm assuming more stats will be added.

The PPS rate for Swepool is 46/[difficulty] - which currently yields a share rate of: 0.00018841725410524332449956786912374 to be overly precise. This rate has a lower fee than deepbit, since deepbit charges 45/[difficutly] which gives can effective fee of 10%, Swepool only has a fee of 8% thanks to the shares being calculated based on a greater portion of the block value 46/50 rather than 45/50.

* Added payout per share to index page.

Current server is not stable at all and a hosted server is ordered and should be up and running in the next days. You are free to continue support swepool.net, but you should not expect a stable experience. Please dont rate the pool as it is now, wait a few days until the new server is up and running.

Just want to note, just a few minutes ago the "Your balance:" read 3.0xxxxxxxxxxxx btc and when i reloaded the page to expect an increase in BTC balance it went back down to 2.99xxxxxxxxx BTC.

Just want to let you know, not sure if that is normal or not  :)

anyone else experience this?
I made a server change today and you probably submitted some shares before the new DNS kicked in. I credit your account now, sorry for the inconvenience.

New server is now up and should be far more stable than the old one. This one is professional hosted and has fallback internet connection, UPS with dieselgenerators and more.

Can you add the pool hashrate to the json?

Added.

I would like a auto payment option. once a day.

I also would like to get payed in x.xx only not x.xxxxxxxxx like it is now.

Furthermore i get a lot of stales if i compare it with deepbit.net

If you can add auto payment option i will stay.

If I have mined say 0.36231 coins and want to have them transferred I only get 0.36 to my wallet.
What happened to the 0.00231 coins which you didnt transfer? I cant see them anywhere. And my balance is 0btc, not 0.00231

What is happening here?

Oh, thank you for notifying me that. It is fixed and your account is compensated for your loss + a little more :)

jurian89: I'm paying out whole bitcents now, this will be as an option in settings in the future. Autopayment is on the fix-soon list.

It looked very good, so I joined. Website is quite functional, but unfortunately long polling does not seem to work as of now. Unfortunately I erased the log so I can't post it. I'm switching to deepbit for now, but would be interested in using swepool if long polling worked :)

We just had a small downtime due to updates to pool software. This should fix the LP-problem, let me know if it doesn't.

LP still not working.  I did not get a LP interruption for block 126463 that was found at 19:14:03 (my local time).  Instead I got 2 stale shares:

'zei9iifi' was just a worker, you need to register at the new site and add your worker to your account. Since I thought everyone had added their workers the link is gone but the url is still working: http://swepool.net/worker?addworker (You need to be logged in). As soon you add you worker to your account, your account will be credited for your shares.

Confirmed: LP is now working and your stale shares should fall rapidly.

1. Log in to your account with balance 0.
2. Click here (http://swepool.net/worker?addworker)
3. Type in your old workername and password
4. You now see your worker in your profile and balance is updated in <15min.

Nice.  Looks like right now it is "autopay once per day no matter what your balance is".  Any chance to eventually get "autopay if your balance is at least some configurable minimum"?

Right now, my meager mining power nets me about 1.7 BTC per day, and I don't mind the "once per day" option.  As difficulty increases over the next couple weeks, though, my net-per-day will drop well below 1.00 BTC/day, and the ability to configure a payout minimum would be beneficial.  That way I'd only get a withdrawal once every few days as my balance goes about some reasonable minimum balance.

Love the service, btw.  I prefer PPS and I like not having to make the deepbit pool an even larger portion of the overall network hash total (nothing personal against the deepbit guys).

Have you had any kind of security audit performed on the site to see where vulnerabilities might exist?  It would be pretty terrible if someone was able to use sql injection or something similar to gain access of people's accounts and steal their bitcoins.

If the project is properly secured, I will likely switch over.

I and a friend with experience in PHP and yes, we have secured it against sql-injections. Passwords are very strongly hashed and even if you get your hands on the database you wont be able to steal any bitcoins.

ewal: Hmm, sounds like a better idea, Ill add that in the to-do list.

What about defense against CSRF attacks?  That is the other major security concern I can think of right now...

Also, I'd like to see HTTPS eventually, but understand that it costs money for a certificate, so you might not want to do it until the pool gets larger.  I'll still support the pool even without HTTPS.

We are checking referrer at sensible pages (cashout, settings) which would ruin any CSRF attacks. HTTPS support will probably take a while but if I get enough users and you want it I'll sure fix it.

I would like to objectively be able to figure out if it's more efficient / "cheaper" to be using you instead of deepbit/slush/BTCMiner.

I currently have no idea what all the 50 different share/participation models end up meaning in real world more or less output of BTC.

About the only "simple" comparison seemed to have been the % of fee, and even that has been obscured by a per block thingie. Or, something.

Bottom line - it would be great if there were a more transparent reason why one should mine here instead of there or there.

I'm not averse to switching pools, if it had a good reason.

Same goes for payout logic btw.

I'm pretty much in this boat too.  I've been mining on deepbit for a few days and getting really good results.  Given the need to pay off my investment I don't have time to go pointing my miners at other pools just to see if it's worth it.  Maybe I can do that in a couple of weeks when I have enough BTC.

Do you have any real world comparisons/results that will compel users to switch from other pools to yours?

I've started up a CPU miner to test out your pool.

I got this error after a few minutes and it resumed after the 30 second retry:

[2011-05-28 08:38:06] HTTP request failed: Empty reply from server
[2011-05-28 08:38:06] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

After 1 share my balance was 0.00010577564409762 btc.  Shouldn't it be 0.00018841688243877 which is your per share payment?

Hmm, CPU miner.. Which one are you using? There have not been any problems with GPU miners so far.

I pay 0.00010577564409762btc/share since difficulty upgrade, please consult my indexpage for current compensation.

---

Other pools pay you when they solve a block according to some model. This means that the longer time for them to solve the block, the less you get. If the pool are "unlucky" you could easily get a couple of percent less than expected. You could of course also get more than expected, it's like a lottery.

Swepool pays you per share instead which gives you much more stable payouts since the payouts dont depend on if we solve a block or not. You always get your expected payout, no need for block solve or block maturity. You can see of it as most of the other pools put the risk/variance on you and swepool doesnt.

Ok, so I point one of my GPU's at it which usually runs around 400M/sec but on swepool it averages about 360!  I think it's solving shares quicker than it's recieving them...

Also had a couple more time out errors again.

My ping to swepool.net is nearly 600ms!

Also, I worked out the 0.00018xxxx figure was on the old difficulty.  Deepbit has gone down to 0.000103xxxx.

At this stage I want to switch but the connectivity issues/reduced hash rate is a problem.

They all use some sort of share based system but it's generally a proportional payment and only when the pool solves a block.

Pay per share is ideal for the miner if you want reliable income.

600ms is way to much. I assume you live a bit from sweden?

The ping at some online pingtools doesn't seem that high:
35ms (ping.eu, EU-based): http://ping.eu/ping/
150ms (network-tools.com, probably US-based): http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=ping&host=swepool.net

do you have plans to host a server in the US?

Ah, yeah I pinged a australian server center and I get about 350ms.

No plans yet, if the pool grows larger and there is a demand so why not.

Wait - signup for swepool isn't even in SSL / HTTPS?

So I am merrily sending out user/pass etc plain text?
Plus email?

What?

Is there any you users would want from swepool? Is there anything you feel are missing?

You think you can implement worker offline notifications (phoenix idle bug  >:() and also payout notifications through email?

and

https?

There are a huge number of connections to web server right now and it has problem dealing with those. RPC server seems not to have these problems though.

Edit: Got rid of the IPs causing the high number of connections, web server should be working fine now. No mining has been affected.

I'm enjoying mining at this pool since a week back, it's a young pool with low PPSfee. It has been great. Hopefully we reach 30 GH soon.

Email notifying added, just check "Monitor" for your workers at profile and a mail will be sent if worker stops. It has been tested by me and seems to work ok, please notify me if it doesn't.

Edit: You can test email monitor by creating a new worker and check monitor on.

I've got one rig with 2 5870's in it.  Both cards are hashing about ~320MH on swepool but on deepbit with the same settings were getting ~400MH

Any ideas?  I've tried tweaking the askrate down to 2 which improved it to an average of 350.

Try ping swepool.net and see what you get.

Sure, I'll add that to the list.
Not sure if this is possible, but can you add a button for each worker to turn the video card on/off from any computer as long as you're logged into swepool? That'd be really cool and helpful.
I can't control your video cards, luckily enough.

About 360ms.  I'm getting that on another PC and hashing at 410MH fine.  My one at home I ping in the 600ms' but with the askrate at 2 I can still hash at 400MH

It probably is just the latency...not much I can do about that one!

Hi!

* Payment type is now pay-per-share as a try to increase amount of users. Current compensation is 0.00010577564409762 btc/share which is 2.2% better than deepbit. We take all the risk, you get all the btc!

Hmm deepbit.net is 0.00010692537935955  ???

Hey dinox you doing some sort of maintenance? Because I've been watching my miners and its seems to be getting disconnected from the server (upstream error) and then reconnects again this past 12 hours. Simply its doing a yo-yo effect...On, off, on...etc.

Or

Is it being overloaded?  ???

Yep, I had to restart bitcoind due to including it in a monitor tool. Now it will restart automatically if it fails and text me if restart fails. The downtime was about 30sec.

Mining my little GPU's butt off.  My 157Mhash/s is yours.

I love small no-fee pools, it means bigger shares for little guys like me.  If your BTC/Day calculator is correct, I'm gonna be here for a long, long time.

Nice you like the pool. I should notify that swepool is not an no-fee pool (probably impossible to maintain a no-fee PPS pool) but it is very friendly to low-hash users. The calculator is as correct as the MHash/s rate is at your profile.

* Swepool has now taken some measures against ddos and should be able to hold up a minor ddos at this point.

im pooling here now, adding 580 mhashes, ordered 2 more cards to total 1ghash. lets see what this pools all about.

Only thing I dont like is:
"1Pays out every day at 14.00 UTC. Only balances larger than 1 btc will be paid out with autopay. "
-Instant payout would have been cool.
-15 minute to 10 minutes would be neat
-I'd like to see the current block with my rewards status + confirmation status like slush has it

What are the advantages of joining a smaller pool compared to joining a bigger pool?
-bigger pool, paid more frequently, lower btc rewards
-smaller pool, less often, higher btc  rewards

correct me if I'm wrong- thanks

Nice!

"1Pays out every day at 14.00 UTC. Only balances larger than 1 btc will be paid out with autopay. "
Instant cashout is there and activates when you have above 0.1 btc in your account to spare me from tx fees. Just login to your profile and press "Instant Cashout".

-I'd like to see the current block with my rewards status + confirmation status like slush has it
The pool uses Pay-Per-Share, that means you get your money instantly. Profile page updates every minute with new balance and when you have above 0.1 btc you are able to cashout instantly, even before the block has solved. Current round info is therefore irrelevant, but you may see solved blocks at stats-page (for the lulz).

What are the advantages of joining a smaller pool compared to joining a bigger pool?
-bigger pool, paid more frequently, lower btc rewards
-smaller pool, less often, higher btc  rewards
A large pool is not good for the bitcoin network. Smaller pools often pays out money very late. Swepool takes the best of these and is a small pool which pays out instantly.

BTC was awesome, but then people signed up like crazy and my shares dropped 70%.  I'm so outta there.

Pushpoold has apparently having some problems with stability last time, it has crashed of some strange reason and doesn't give me much information when doing so. I have a monitor tool that restarts the process automatically, which is why you only experience about 1 min downtime before going online again. I have had problems with pushpoold before, and thought I had solved them when I got 3-4 days of indisturbed uptime, but now they are kicking at me again. I'll try to investigate what the issue is.

PST, I've been getting it for the past 48 hours now.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, keeping us posted would be great!

Hi Dinox

Got a small issue here mate.  One of my miners went offline briefly.  I got it back up and the status in my swepool profile still says it's offline and at 0 MH/s but the share count is going up.

Cheers

A glitch in the update of hashspeed script, should be fixed now! Thanks for notifying me that.

* I may also notify there is a new design of site coming up, more info will be available later.

03/06/2011 12:11:16, f3b48590, invalid or stale

03/06/2011 12:12:45, long poll: new block 0000055b133324da
I'm not sure, but I think this is some problem with the pool, i thought it was because of my overclocking but have adjust it back and forth and still get "accepted" only about 50% of the time

Can you please ping swepool.net? You have a terribly stale-rate, I have neved seen anything like it. Its
Code:

Okay.. You could try another miner, it seems like it is only you who have these problems. Can you try Phoenix/Diablominer and see if you get better stale rates there?

dinox: what does your pay per-share rate translate to as a fee?

deepbit's translates to 10% I heard. So if yours is 2.2% better is it equivalent to a 9.978% fee?

Could payout please not be cut off after 0.00x. It should pay out your whole balance.

Its compensation which is 2.2% better, thus swepool has a 8% fee.

Could payout please not be cut off after 0.00x. It should pay out your whole balance.

I have had people say the other way too. I'd prefer whole balance (rounded to 8 digits) like you so this is probably what we will see in future.

It's the 0.004... btc you are talking about? I can pay it out to you manually minus the tx-fee (0.0005btc) if you want.

No downtime has been on pool software last 5 days, it seems like some packets get lost on their way across the atlantic. You could try phoenix/polcbm terminal miners since they seems to have less of these problems, but it shouldn't affect your hashspeed anyways.

New IP is 109.74.5.72, I will notify you when it is online.

Back up again... And I just noticed that it actually isn't the PPS pool with the lowest fee. 2% better than deepbit, but 3% worse than continuum.
How do you figure?

I never understood how to work those things out properly to be honest, and the pools don't exactly make a comparison or show you how, either.

There should be a master table of potential income vs cost of all the pools, but instead just a thousand other kinds of threads open up. :P

Is it this pay per share value?
Like:

0.00010577564409762  swepool
0.00008373444628058 continuum (if I interpret the figure correctly, I think -e5 means -10 high 5, so 5th digit)
0.00007931496901107  deepbit

these correct?

Now I dont know your timezone, but we has just changed server and there may been a delay when DNS was changing.
Thanks, working, but still RPC errors. Need a new client to test now.
Ok, please notify me if you get same errors with terminal client.

No, swepool pays 0.000081077523877986, the one in first post is updated by me and the one on swepool.net is updated automatically.

I just switched from deepbit to swepool and was a little shocked about the downtime. they should announce downtimes a little better.

If you by "they" mean swepool, I'll announce this better in the future. There should be no more downtimes from now.

Guys, DNS for top level domains can take up to 24 hours to be refreshed.  So expect that long for swepool.net to be updated with the new IP.

Also, Justsomeforumuser - The difficulty went up about 10 hours ago so the figures would have changed.  Check again :)

Miner is back up and pointed at swepool.net:8337 with great results!  Only two stales since noon!

Join back up, everybody.

Listen, if you guys are going down for hours at a time, I really can't afford to babysit my miner and switch over to another (less profitable, but more stable) pool.  I'm gonna have to switch to somewhere else until whatever that is going on is finished.  Really sorry, guys.

I was thinking of bringing server down until all problems was fixed, but I was not allowed due to some of my miners not having access to their pc. I'm making some stresstests right now, and server should not go down any more. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Or: Saying sorry when you cost one damage is only acceptable when you repay the damage.

That said: I like this pool. If that "was it" I stay with you. if not, I also stay with you. With one GPU shared with another pool. Oh, justforgot - ordered 1 GPU's today that go online one point this or next week (come friday, takes some time to put the computers together). Another 12 coming next week ;)

So, how much of that do you want? ;) And... will you actually manage to stay online?

Yeah, I'm using poclbm.
Followed parts of this tutorial: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forums/backtrack-howtos/39969-how-gpu-bitcoin-mine-backtrack-4-your-hardware-could-now-pay-rent.html
Okay.. You could try another miner, it seems like it is only you who have these problems. Can you try Phoenix/Diablominer and see if you get better stale rates there?

Tried Phoenix and it works much better! thanks for the tip!

I gladly accept you being sorry then. This is a sign of responsibility that is worth remembering.

;) I keep one of my two little miners on you then for now. If no big downtime happens the next days, you get me next server batch at least temporarly. Depending on how the freaking stuff gets delivered this will be over the weekend or monday. Have 7 6990s incoming now and another 5 on backorder ;) IIRC that would then be 24 workers next week ;)

I'm sorry jurian89, there may be more bonuses for swepool miners in the future, stay tuned!

* Cashout fixed as it should be i.e. it pays out your balance rounded to 8 decimals. This is mathematical rounding, ex. 0.100000005 will be rounded up to 0.10000001.

* Pay-per-share now displayed in micro-btc/share due to me not finding it either visually okay nor intuitive to display 5 zeroes in front of value. 1 micro-btc = 0.000001 btc

Hi,

This is the only way for me to contact swepool(based on the info I found).

Thing is, I can logg in without trouble, and view my workers, who mine hard, but, when I try to change something in settings, this time my payment addres to recve salary, the site responds by saying incorect pw.

Only thing is, the pw is not incorrect, because I just typed it on the loggin screen to be able to log in.

I would really apriciate if you could help me in some way to fix this issue that taints an otherwise perfect pool.

Sincerely,

Almzaar(swepool name too)

You have to put in your normal password in the field saying "old password" when you make changes to the settings.

The thing is that that is exactly what I do, I enter the same password I used seconds ago to log in to the site, but now it won't accept it.

Hmm Just noticed that when i pay out the whole sum is transferred. I would like to pay out only 2 digits because i pay out directly to a market and it wont accept anything that is behind the 2 digits...

Could you make this an option in Settings ?

There is now a block find bonus promotion going at swepool! That means, if you find a block you will instantly receive a bonus of 0.5 btc.

Almzaar: That sounds weird, just tried it myself and it worked fine. I have sent you some instructions to your registered email address at swepool, please answer that mail.

jurian89: I'll add that to my growing to-do list, maybe you can use mybitcoin as a work around? I will try to get it done this weekend.

Where do I see how much you pay per share? You do pay invalid/rejected shares, don't you?
You see my payout at swepool.net or first post in this thread.

No, of course I dont pay rejected shares. (That would be suicide for a pool)

I think you should just put it as a simple decimal and not micro bitcoins as the less tech or in the know people wont know what that is!

Its there, but its not easy to use micro to calculate how many shares.
I am very weak in maths, so do many, if you put it on normal as bitcoin client, it will be easy for maths weak people.

*sigh*

The world's schools are failing us of there are any significant number of people who are capable of assembling a mining rig but are not able to convert between BTC and micro BTC (hint: multiply or divide by 1 million).

It is reasonable and appropriate to display a value in a unit that doesn't require 5 leading zeros after the decimal place.

Hi guys!

swepool has had huge losses in last time and we cant sustain pay-per-share anymore. I do think we had the same attack as made bitpenny shut down (the other pay-per-share only pool).

We are switching to proportional, there will be no downtime and all shares submitted from this point are counted towards next block solve. Hashspeed calculators is a bit out of order right now, please have some patience with that.

Questions:

1) How do we get paid? How does proportional really work?
2) I am getting TCP timeout errors with phoenix miner to SWEPOOL.NET (miner idle, then it fails) tcp twisted time out error connection failed then reconnects
3) Will the BTC counter on the profile page update itself based off of work?
4) What happens to the current shares I am contributing? Why is it showing 0BTC?

1. There is now an estimate counter on your profile, you will be paid that amount when swepool solves a block.
2. I have no reports on errors like this, can you please copy/paste errors in a pm to me?
3. Yes
4. I had to rewrite some code, It's working right now. The counter shows your_round_shares / pool_round_shares which is what you get paid when we solve a block.

I also want to notify you that this is not a permanent way for swepool but we will be going proportional until I figured out a un-cheatable pay-model where you get paid instantly.

Thanks, new to the proportional area, always did solo or PPS.
So until the pool solves a block, I'll be getting 0 BTC? When they do solve, how much does it give to its users?
The estimate counter is way below than what PPS was offering, from .8 bitcions to .16? =\

Yes

When they do solve, how much does it give to its users?
You will get 50 * your_shares_this_round / pool_shares_this_round. This is what is showing on your profile page.

Statistically we should solve a block in every 10 hours. Last estimate was per 24h.

In the long run, you should expect 8.7% higher payouts now than we had with PPS.

We all have this problem. SWE went from PPS to proportional. Currently its doing round shares and were waiting for the round to end. It's been over 40 hours for the current block and my btc balance decreased ever since.

Waiting for Dinox to get back to us here. He should setup some type of notification area on the site and use it.

Proportional:
Finding a block has a more random probability and thus timing between generated reward fluctuates, as does payout per day.

PPS - same rate every day, no outperformance, no underperformance.

Wish dinox would clean up the whole front page, news page, first post to be up to date of what is what NOW, especially with the block find bonus going in and out within 2 days.

Most of all, I'd like to see a sign of life at all, plus some kind of assurance that the pooled mining is even still working/ongoing/functional etc, including payouts and so forth.

Allright, I'm back with you guys, but if this new payment method doesn't give me returns like before, I'll head to any pool with higher returns.

I understand how PPS isn't always sustainable, and I don't blame you for switching.

Between purely proportional pools, there is no better or worse "returns", just more or less fee deducted.

You can end up with 3 crappy days here, try 1 day elsewhere on a lucky day, think you are better off, then have 5 days of terrible performance there while swepool has 3 lucky days in a row..

The whole pools are all always just trying to guess a new block...none of them really has an advantage within proportional, so you can't compare payouts at all. Just fees, uptime and service.

Is the "worker wage" calculator still a daily rate?  Because mine is less than a tenth of what it was.  (yes the mhash/s is accurate)

Check the stats page.
Good=more than 2 blocks a day
Good=less shares per block

If "Hide my username" is disabled, your username will appear next to the block in the stats page if you were the one to find it

Yep. Last block was super well paid, about 0.01btc/share :)

How do I see whether it was a good day or I got the block find bonus? :p

Check the stats page.
Good=more than 2 blocks a day
Good=less shares per block

If "Hide my username" is disabled, your username will appear next to the block in the stats page if you were the one to find it

It was a joke, hence the :p

The constant connection makes up for the ever so slightly reduced hashing speed.

Seriously, you'll submit one less share per hour. Chance alone has a higher impact than 10 MH/s.

OK so I've confirmed with PHOENIX i am getting disconnected every 3 minutes. I've tried 9 other machines and they all do the same. Each one with a different IP/ISP and location.

Something is def wrong via swepool, not me.

tried phoenix 1.4 1.48 and new 1.50

well, I see that at least one of you that use phoenix like me was complaining of disconnections..
so I just got home from work and was dismayed to find that both of my machines that were mining here had been disconnected for a long time..let's see:

machine 1: (ubuntu linux, pyopencl, ATI SDD SDK 2.4, phoenix 1.48) was disconnected 4 hrs ago, 2:55 UTC, "Work queue empty, miner is idle."
Okay lets check machine 2:
(win 7, SDK 2.4, phoenix 1.48):  last time on the clock was 3:20 UTC, and then error message:

0 Khash/sec] [2286 Accepted] [95 Rejected] [RPC (+LP)]Unhandled error in Deferred:

so, would going to poclbm solve these problems, or is something awry at swepool.

I'm a little bummed. oh well, I know that there are many of you who have better knowledge of automation of these miners....

(the linux multiple pools script looked appealing...)

Im definately on the same boat with you mate.
I've tried all versions of phoenix, tempted to try poclbm but dont have much time to mess around.
Just wish this thing was fixed, all the other pools including deepbit work flawlessly except with swepool which is my favorite pool :( bah humbug

Im hoping DINOX reads this and tries to fix it.

Tycho over at the deepbit pool mentioned that phoenix won't reconnect in case of connection problems, so while switching to a different miner won't solve the connection problems, it will allow you to continue mining once they're over.

Not sure I understood what you just said...

once phoenix detects a connection failure, it wont reconnect back? What? for me it does, but then it disconnects again.

also regarding poclbm:
innervisi0n: yeah, i haven't wanted to switch, since the phatk kernel does a little better on my 5870 cards.

but:
on these forums in several places is instructions on how to run poclbm with multiple instances, using the ' -f ' switch so that if the primary one (say swepool, set it at like 92%) goes down, the backup (say deepbit, or any other pool you like, normally at some single digit percentage) will take up the slack.

I have known about this for a few days, like I said there are many people who know way more than I do.

I will hunt down this information in the next hour and post here how to do this with poclbm.

like you, v*, swepool is my favorite.

Hi guys!

I cant see any problems here, can you please try to ping swepool and see if you got a high ping? That has been a cause before. I know innervisi0n has done this and I think your ping was ok so I cant see the problem there. Is the problem continuous or after some time?

EDIT: I see the problem is not continuous. It may depend on some packets getting lost on their way (We have had this problem before), I'll make further investigations in this.

I don't use phoenix, nor am I affiliated with them, so I don't know any details. From what I read, phoenix has problems reconnecting. Whether that means that it doesn't attempt to or simply fails is beyond me. Basically, you may want to look at whatever phoenix threads are in the forum, if you want details.
