The clock helped me to calculate the first letters. I calculated the angle of the hour hand for each number representing the minutes. Then I realized I just had to divide the numbers by two.

It also looks a little bit like a ww2 map in europe

I made no program (I think it would have taken longer). It was just a little image editing with Paint.NET (I would have taken less if I was not in a crappy notebook).

I cannot imagine how someone could possibly solve that puzzle/maze that complex/large without some kind of program/bot.

There are actually multiple solutions to the maze.

If you open the maze in image editing software and use the paint can tool to paint the black left wall of the maze one color (such as green), then use the paint can tool to paint the black top wall another color (such as blue), then all walls that connect to those exterior walls will be colored in. Since these colored walls are connected to an exterior wall, there is no way through them and you have to go around them. This means that the proper path will be the path in the space between the green and blue walls. You'll notice that there is a large black section in the middle of the maze that is not connected to any exterior wall. You can take either path (following along the blue or along the green) around the black section. There are also likely (though not guaranteed) to be additional paths through the middle of the black section.

See my attached image for the "colored wall" maze I'm describing:

Interesting, before (with the wrong clue) it was all capital letters. (as a reminder to those that think that the wrong clue might still reveal something about the methodology, the old clue was: OO0HECHE)

This time, there is a lower case 'e'.

I'm not sure if that's meaningful, but it does appear that the clue might be case sensitive.

NBFHe0C ITS <--- should be considered as the clue. The ITS included.

Danny is once again correct, pay attention to the case sensitivity.

Sorry! here it is NBFHe0C ITS the same concept as the one before, it just got messed up a bit!.

NBFHe0C ITS <--- should be considered as the clue. The ITS included.
- snip -

I think you are mistaken. The ITS is meant to be the contraction "it's" (a contraction for "it is"). It is part of the sentence "It's the same concept as before." He just forgot to turn off caps lock after typing the clue.

You can tell this is true by looking at the original posting of the clue here:

------LEVEL 3------

NBFHe0C

*Find me, for i hide Within*

Wow, what did you use to code that program?

I made no program (I think it would have taken longer). It was just a little image editing with Paint.NET (I would have taken less if I was not in a crappy notebook).

And I used a reverse image search. :D
I was going to do that but I couldn't upload the picture because my iPad wasn't displaying the "search by image" button on google.

Oxygen?

Oxygen?

It has to be oxygen.
"NBFHe0C"
N = Nitrogen
B = Boron
F = Fluorine
He = Helium
C = Carbon
0 = Missing = Oxygen (is among them in the periodic table)

Oxygen?

It has to be oxygen.
"NBFHe0C"
N = Nitrogen
B = Boron
F = Fluorine
He = Helium
C = Carbon
0 = Missing = Oxygen (is among them in the periodic table)

If the 0 is just a 0, and the rest are elements on the periodic "table", then we get 759206.
If the 0 is Oxygen, then we get 759286.

Are either of those numbers meaningful?

Note that the original clue (which was announced to accidentally be "wrong" did not have any lower case 'e'. In that case, it would seem that 'H' would be hydrogen, except that there aren't any elements that are simply represented by a capital 'E'. If we assume that the "wrong" clue meant for HE to be helium, and we assume that 0 is just a 0, then the original "wrong" clue would have ended up with: 880262

Interestingly, all of these are 6 digit numbers (759206, 759286, and 880262). Of this list of numbers, 759206 seems most likely to be correct, but I'm not sure what meaning that number carries.

I'm also noticing that only the single digit elements were used (for example Re could have been used instead of NB). This would explain why a 0 needs to be used, since there is no element with an atomic number of 0. This would seem to imply that each number stands on its own. Perhaps it is 6 single digit numbers rather than a single 6 digit number? 7,5,9,2,0, & 6

Didn't he "hide within" the Alice in Wonderland story?

Another possibility would be "imagination". Wasn't the Alice in Wonderland story largely about accepting the imaginary ideas we posses within ourselves with out needing to apply logic or forcing ourselves to be realistic?

Ah, You're right!

I hadn't even noticed that the user ID for that post was "clue".

Okay so the painting appears to be the clue that is "hidden within" the thread that we need to "find".

Now that we've found the clue hidden within the thread we need to figure out what the painting of The Last Supper has to do with the number 12 and the new clue: "Thinking back is hard".

There were 12 apostles correct?

I can't remember who the 12th apostle was. I'm not sure that that matters though.

Perhaps we only need to "think back" to the first puzzle. There are typically 12 numbers on a clock right? Also in the first puzzle the number 12 would have represented the letter 'F'

Was there an apostle whose name started with the F?

Ok. let it be some topic number between 759206 and 880175.
It could be the average topic 819791 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=819791) or some topic started by the same author, for example this one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=879543).
Both are quite miningless:)
It also could be the average topic started by author, but it´s hard to find it. May be in those topic he sold the table or something like that.

I understand that my answer is wrong, but it can help somebody to find the right one:)

Nope. No apostles that start with 'F' (at least not in the english translations):

  • Simon Peter
  • James the Greater
  • John
  • Andrew
  • Philip
  • Thomas
  • Bartholomew
  • Matthew
  • James the Lesser
  • Simon the Zealot
  • Thaddaeus-Judas
  • Judas Iscariot
  • Matthias (Replacement for Judas Iscariot, chosen by the remaining 11)

the twelfth apostle on the last supper painting is supposed to be Simon
the only apostle with a 12 letter name is Judas Iskariot
'thinking back is hard' hmm ... supposed to have happened in the year 33. Painted by Leonardo Da vincy between 1494 and 1498 according to wikipedia

(Reuters) - A new theory that Leonardo's "Last Supper" might hide within it a depiction of Christ blessing the bread and wine has triggered so much interest that Web sites connected to the picture have crashed.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2007/07/27/us-italy-lastsupper-theory-idUSL2779072020070727

It can be Jesus Christ.

I am using double meanings for "hide within". It is a very possible answer.

The first clue is: 2 38 22 12 30 36 40 16 10 26 2 52 10 ''

This might be far fetched, but what's with the " behind the numbers?
Are we supposed to fill in the new number 12 (24?)there?

---> ask for the mazel

is that even an english word? happiness? mazel tov? hahaha

The second part of this puzzle is SHADOW

It is a line from the poetry "Do you not see?" by Aaron David Michael Brown

Do you not see what I am?
Is it not obvious?
I am the one in the night
I am the one that comes
I am the one no one sees
I am the one that bleeds
I am the one behind my veil of eternal darkness
I am the one hidden by your greed
You shall never see me, for I AM the shadow
You will never find me, for I hide within
Deep, deep within you
For that is where I am from
I am what you made me.

If it is number 12, then it is Simon
If it is 12 divided by 2 (first riddle), then it is John (or Mary)
If it is 'think back' 12-1, then it is Thaddeus
If we count reversed from jesus' position, it is Bartholomew
too many possible answers :)

I have got 2 ideas:

Thinking back to the perioidic table, 12 is magnessium, it is not hard. If we follow the divide by 2 rule, it is 6. Carbon is not hard, but diamond is hard. If we double 12, we get 24 chromium?

Out of the 12 deciples, Peter is often referred to as "my rock". Rock is hard.

thinking back is hard: 12:30 minus 12 is 12:18

could it refer to a bible verse?

Euthanasiaa was right, he was the only one Pointing out a single person on the Table.
here's how it was supposed to be made;

First you got some Letters which was Actually Elements, WHich you did a great job on! (Hint Table was for periodic table)
one you've got the Elements tip down their Atamic Numbers, then you get the Numbers, the numbers were the Number of a topic here on the board!, (hint the HTML bar on the picture and the BTCtalk.org Adress :) )
the Painting on the Top was from the last Suppor wit ha line saying ''Thinking back is hard 12''. when i said Thinking back i meant think of the first Level when you had to divide everything by 2, if you divide 12 with two you get 6! and John is the 6th man sitting at the table (from left)
so the True answer was ''John'' :)

you all did a great job on this one, i'm impressed!! get ready for Level 4!

Interesting. All of the lines are made of of 48 characters of X and Y.

There is one line (line 49) that starts with a space. Not sure if that is intentional or not.

Also, there are also lines that end with spaces (again, not sure if that is intentional or not):

Line 2 ends with 2 spaces
Line 3 ends with 2 spaces
Line 4 ends with 2 spaces
Line 5 ends with 2 spaces

The positive and negative zero baffles me.
by looking it up i can only say it's used in programming.

i also thought about the X's and Y's as possibly binary code 0's and 1's
but i'm stuck there.

The positive and negative zero baffles me.

Perhaps it isn't a positive and negative 0 at all.

Perhaps "0-5" has meaning (such as a range from 0 to 5). If "0-5" represents something, then the + and - in the beginning of each could apply to the entire thing. Something like:

It could mean move forward (+) and move backwards (-)

or the '-' could mean to invert, or take the opposite of.

Perhaps some of the 'X's and 'Y's need to be shifted right or left (or up or down)?

How y u do dis

Using Paint.NET, I painted the black lines on the left with red color. Then I removed the white parts, enlarging the red and black parts. Then I applied the Gaussian filter. And finally I removed the solid parts in red and black, so just remain the border of two regions (solution).

May be there is something in it?

i did, you get some numbers, some of them are repeating themselves. one line has 20 Xs while another one does to, but they're not in the same order. hmm

There are some patterns that occur as frequently as 7 times, and some that only occur once. In the past we've have had a clue that spelled out a sentence and we've had a clue where a sequence of letters was converted into a sequence of numbers.

If each pattern is meant to represent a number, and those numbers were then intended to represent a letter, then we could be looking at another sentence.

These two patterns each occur seven times:
Code:
XXX.....................X......................X
XXXXXXXXXXXX..........X....X....X....X....X...X.

If this is intended to spell out a sentence in the English language, then it would seem likely that those two particular patterns represent vowels, frequently used consonants, or word separators.

Since the "XXX.....................X......................X" pattern occurs consecutively (lines 52 and 53) it seems likely that it does NOT represent a word separator or the vowels A, I, or U.

So, perhaps "XXX.....................X......................X" either represents the letter E or the letter O?

Since the "XXXXXXXXXXXX..........X....X....X....X....X...X." pattern never occurs consecutively, it could be a vowel, a frequently used consonant. or a word separator. If it is a word separator, then the sentence is made up of 8 words each with the following number of letters:
5, 9, 6, 7, 2, 14, 12

That's quite a few long words, so if it's a sentence then I'm leaning more towards it being a frequently used vowel, and that the sentence doesn't have any word separators.

Intressting, good thinking!

maybe the fact that the ''Lines'' are Ewualy long and on top of each other is the word separator ?

hmm, translating the first line from binary code into text ends up in rubbish

if x=1 and y=0 you get N§*r’

if y=1 and x=0 you get ý±XՍm

was worth a try :P

i still think the +0-5 -0-5 is the clue however
as above so below, yeah i'd think looking back to clues of the first puzzles

Yesterday I tried to analyze the patterns that way. I used cryptograms solvers and found nothing.

I also tried manually. Using the most frequent letters of the English, but is very difficult. There are many different patterns, as if apart from letters are also numbers or symbols.

I do not know...

I also tried manually. Using the most frequent letters of the English, but is very difficult. There are many different patterns, as if apart from letters are also numbers or symbols.

I do not know...

The positions of the X's certainly seem to be significant.

They aren't evenly distributed in the columns. There appears to be a bias for X's near the beginning of the row. There also appears to be a bias for an X in the last row.

Given the 74 rows:

64 of them have an X in the first column
56 of them have an X in the second column (and all 56 also have an X in the first column)
44 of them have an X in the third column (and all but 1 of the 44 also have an X in BOTH of the first two columns)
33 of them have an X in the last column.

All the rest of the columns have an X in less than 30 rows. Here's the exact breakdown for the number of rows with an X in each column:

Code:
Column #01: 64 X's
Column #02: 56 X's (all of them also have X's in the first column)
Column #03: 44 X's (all but one of them also have X's in the first two columns)
Column #04: 23 X's (all of them also have X;s in the first three columns)
Column #05: 18 X's (all but two of them also have X's in the first four columns)
Column #06: 18 X's
Column #07: 17 X's
Column #08: 13 X's
Column #09: 17 X's
Column #10: 18 X's
Column #11: 18 X's
Column #12: 23 X's
Column #13: 15 X's
Column #14: 8 X's
Column #15: 21 X's
Column #16: 9 X's
Column #17: 20 X's
Column #18: 18 X's
Column #19: 11 X's
Column #20: 9 X's
Column #21: 14 X's
Column #22: 20 X's
Column #23: 25 X's
Column #24: 21 X's
Column #25: 19 X's
Column #26: 10 X's
Column #27: 22 X's
Column #28: 29 X's
Column #29: 24 X's
Column #30: 13 X's
Column #31: 15 X's
Column #32: 18 X's
Column #33: 22 X's
Column #34: 12 X's
Column #35: 16 X's
Column #36: 13 X's
Column #37: 15 X's
Column #38: 22 X's
Column #39: 13 X's
Column #40: 10 X's
Column #41: 11 X's
Column #42: 14 X's
Column #43: 23 X's
Column #44: 12 X's
Column #45: 12 X's
Column #46: 13 X's
Column #47: 21 X's
Column #48: 33 X's

EDIT: There are a total of 912 X's out of 3552 possible positions. If the X's were randomly distributed in the columns, we would expect to have approximately 19 X's per column (and slightly more than 12 X's per row). Any column that has significantly more than 19 X's seems to have a bias towards having an X in that column. Any column that has significantly less than 19 X's seems to have a bias towards having a Y in that column.

and some got copy/pasted to fasten the process.

the clues must in some way point to a specific area or lines which do matter

or i can completely be wrong ... again :D

Ok, so since the position of the 'I' in the clue is not meaningful, it seems like the position of the 'X' in the block of text is not meaningful. Instead it must just be the number of X's in each row.

I must have made some mistakes counting X's because I get the following:

Quote
thematterlierbeforetheeyerofalleverybodyreeritoucherisloveritbutklpwrisnot

If I try to break that up into recognizable words I get something that almost makes sense. (I've marked the nonsense in bold).

Quote
The matter lier before the eye rof all everybody reer it oucher is love rit but klpwr is not.

Now, if the clue creator miscounted, then 'r' could be 's' in some cases, which comes a bit closer to making sense:

Quote
The matter lies before the eyes of all. Everybody sees it ouchesis loves it but klpws is not.

EDIT: I've re-counted the X's in the 5 rows that spell out "klpws". I'm pretty sure I've counted correctly (11, 12, 16, 23, & 18). Perhaps there is some additional translation that must be done on some of the rows. Perhaps the "+0-5 -0-5" indicates what that additional translation is?

Great job! Amazing!
Maybe that's what the +0-5 and -0-5 means? To + and - some Xs to get the right word?

I do think that lier is lies and reer see
I think we need to plus some X and - some to get it right

If one uses the method suggested by euthanasiaa (and the part in the clue)you get this:

The matter lies before the eyes of all; everybody sees it, touches it, loves it, but knows it not

Except for the commas and so, I put them there hehe

Clue: +0-5 -0-5
The matter lies before the eyes of all; everybody sees it, touches it, loves it, but knows it not
As above, so below
comes from the Hermeticism
Clue: Think back
I think that means that have compare it with information on the previous puzzles.
Clue: BBBI = 1. IBBB = 1.
Seems to be something related with a Crystal structure.

So far i think that is related to Alchemy, after see that the First and Second clues drives you to Hermeticism and the 3rd clue ask you to "think back" and in the previous puzzle was about a Table and the other clue as far i can research is a Crystal.

I assume that is about The Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus, that contain the secret of the prima materia and its transmutation that have total connection with the first clue, that also have been associated with the creation of the philosopher's stone.

This could be totally irrelevant but I searched up some parts of Clue 4 and I got Mars Global Surveyor.

hmm, translating the first line from binary code into text ends up in rubbish

if x=1 and y=0 you get N§*r’

if y=1 and x=0 you get ý±XՍm

was worth a try :P

i still think the +0-5 -0-5 is the clue however
as above so below, yeah i'd think looking back to clues of the first puzzles

lol, I did exactly that. I used notepad and used the Replace All option. It is not the path to the answer, anyway.

Good work guys, I think we have solved part of the question.

by the moist thing it may be preserved from such combustion. To such a conclusion, if rightly accepted, I gladly subscribe. But from the above mentioned philosophical dicta (however obscurely worded they may be) it is clearer than day that the substance of our Blessed Stone is one (although different sages call it by different names), and that Nature has made it ready to the hand of the adept, having willed this one thing, and no other thing in all the world, to be the material of the Stone. This Matter lies before the eyes of all; everybody sees it, touches it, loves it, but knows it not. It is glorious and vile, precious and of small account, and is found everywhere. Theophrastus Paracelsus, in his book concerning "The Tincture of Physical Things," calls it the Red Lion, which is named by many, but known by few. Hermes, in the first chapter of his Treatise, calls it "Quick Silver coagulated in its innermost chambers." In the "Rosary of the Philosophers" it goes by the name of Salt. But, to be brief, our Matter has as many names as there are things in the world; that is why the foolish know it not. Foolish I call those who, without any previous knowledge of Nature and her properties, undertake to learn this Art, and come to it (as Arnold says) like the ass to the crib, not knowing for what they open their mouths. Hence it is well said by Geber, in the "Sum of Perfection": "He who has no elementary knowledge of Nature is far from a proper appreciation of this Art." And Rosarius says: "I advise no one to approach this Art unless he knows the principle and the regimen of Nature: if he be acquainted with these, little is wanting to him except one thing, nor need he put himself to a great expense, since the stone is one, the medicine is one, the vessel one, the rule one, the disposition one." Yet this one substance is so divided by the operation of Nature, and the skill of the Artist, that it is transmuted into our White Eagle, nor does the splendour of the sun illuminate more abundantly the spagyric matter with its beams; or, as Basilius Valentinus hath it, that, "thence is born a spirit white as scow, and another spirit red as blood, which two spirits are contained in a third hidden thing." Hence King Aros well says: "Our medicine is composed out of two things having one essence, namely, through the mercurial union of a solid and a liquid, a spiritual and a corporeal, a cold and a moist, a warm and a dry, and in

Hello! Sorry for not answering sooner! when you decipher the XY code you get ''This Matter lies before the eyes of all; everybody sees it, touches it, loves it, but knows it not'' which points to the Philosophers stone! so the right answer is Philisophers stone !

Since DannyHamilton solved the Code he will get some BTC and since MasterP4 Solved the ''riddle'' he will also get some BTC :)

Please send me your QR code so i can transfer from my Phone :)

i will have a new LEVEL up soon :)!

Perhaps you can explain how the +0-5 -0-5 clue works?
Perhaps you can explain how the XY code works?

I still don't understand the proper method of getting from:

"lier" to "lies"
"eyer" to "eyes"
"reer" to "sees"
"toucher" to "touches"
"is" to "it"
"lover" to "loves"
"klpwr" to "knows"

I had edited my original post. Anyway, i don't deserve it. DannyHamilton does for solving most of it.

Just wondering, is there any history or something for edited/removed posts?

And I didn't get the 0.5 clue either.

And I suspect that the "r" to "s" etc. is actually a typo of OP.?

Hey, the 0-5 + 0-5 part was for the letters, if a word Dident made sense from the Xs you were meant to either + on some X or - some C to get the right letter to form a proper word like sees or touches, sorry if it was a bit confusing.

oh and the XY code works like this. One X Equals A Two Xs Equal B. its just like the number system. 1 = A 2 =B, except now you have to convert the Xs to Numbers then to Letters :)

That's what I thought, but if that is true then either you mis-counted on multiple rows or I mis-counted.

Did the +0-5 -0-5 clue mean that we were supposed to adjust the number of X's somehow?

Please go back and carefully check your work. If I mis-counted, then I apologize for the misunderstanding. If you mis-counted, then you need to understand that mistakes can make a puzzle unsolvable and waste the time of a lot of people. Please double-check your puzzles before you release them.

hey yes, the +0-5 and -0-5 meant that you had to adjust some letters to make them fit in for example if a sentence would be. A Cat would be
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYX 1 X
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYXXX 3 X
YXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 20 X (Don't mind the Ys now)

it could also have been like this.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYX 1 X
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYXXX 3 X
YXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 19 X (Don't mind the Ys now)

Then it would spell out: A Cas (which would make no sense, that's were the 0-5 method comes in, this this case it would be +1 which would then result in 20 X which would be T)
that's why i made some of the Words Correct and some incorrect, to make it more Confusing.

i'm sorry if the Clue was a bit weird.
it was the same reason why i didn't spell out all T's, Xs the same in all the rows, just to make it more confusing.

Ok, I guess I get it now.

The mis-spelling was intentional.
The +0 and -0 were not clues at all, but were instead "anti-clues" meant to lead us in the wrong direction and confuse us.
The -5 was an indication that we might need to add one or two extra X's to some of the rows to get the correct spelling.

Maybe somebody is looking for a missing "2".

I can see the image has been manipulated and the number 2 appears, however I have lost this thread since the first I saw this was in Bitcoin General Discussion.
The only reason I stumbled across this was because of DannyHamilton.
This guy got knowledge. And his posts let me here again.

Back on topic- can someone confirm my find?
And can someone kind of guide me abut what happened?
(I will go through all posts but if I can have a summary in all posts that would be great).

Thanks :)

Correct.

The same spot also converts to the number 2 in Times New Roman

I believe that would be the right answer? Waiting for OP to come and give you your prize

I am not trying to guess the answer. I am sharing facts about the painting to spark off ideas. Like now, i see a cross on the stone. I start thinking about:

It may be an "x" meaning 10, or it is directing us to a brick/stone. I know a famous "Rosetta Stone" which have ties to languages like the Tower of Babel.

Special thanks to my best friend for this.

I believe this is the spot that is intended to be found?

https://i.imgur.com/OKsvD33.png

Correct.

The same spot also converts to the number 2 in Times New Roman

EDIT: To be specific load the image here: http://29a.ch/sandbox/2012/imageerrorlevelanalysis/ (http://29a.ch/sandbox/2012/imageerrorlevelanalysis/)
and play with the settings ;)

The number 2 in Times New Roman is clear at the "spot"

Mate, there's a L at the top of that picture ! take a close look! :D

162? I see a "C" (100, at the far left), "L" (50, at the top), "X" (10, down below), and 2 "I" (1, one in the far right, the other towards the left of the picture).

edit: it could also be 142 (CXLII) instead of 162 (CLXII), as I see no way to order them.

I think that the solution is:
The Rosetta Stone

Based in "X marks the spot" given that it marks to a Stone and this is the most directly related with the paint picture that is given as clue, and some similarity with the previous puzzle.

Rosetta stone is key to solve the problem in the "construction" of the babel tower, I saw another user mentioned as a posibility another stone like "Rosetta Stone" but didn't submit as a solution, see quote

It may be an "x" meaning 10, or it is directing us to a brick/stone. I know a famous "Rosetta Stone" which have ties to languages like the Tower of Babel.

The original painting is cropped in the clue image. Here is a higher resolution with full content:

http://blistar.net/images/photos/c845d2a42d434e65b6671c94d857677c.jpg

Zoom in the center bottom and you can read painter's signature which seems to be carved on the stone.

It reads:

BRVEGEL. FE.
M.CCCCC.LXIII

Which translates to:
Bruegel. FE.
1563

You should put a time-limit to every puzzle, if in 3 days no one found it, I doubt they'll find it at all. Plus it's too vague.

3 days is too short a time. At most, maybe give clues if no one makes progress after a week or so. About the "C", "X", "L" and 2 "I", I think those are probably pages or chapters or something of a work related to the picture or subject (tower of babel). But I don't have time to search for it now.

Exactly. I have had my friend photoshop the lightning/contrast in the picture to show what exactly those changes are, and apparently we saw some random letters/figures on them, but it is still very muzzled.

Nah, it's the Bitilluminati. They plan to take over the world, (The New Bit Order) establishing Bitcoin as the world currency. They will then hack into the blockchain to make Bitcoin centralized.

Ok seriously, I don't think those are the answers

If I join the upper circles I get a .. check mark.

Maybe it's "Done." or something similar.
Or, as the upper part of the picture hanging in the museum is a nail, I'd say "Nailed it."

(..Also with reference to what god did to them.)

It's probably important to remember at this point that we've been given "false clues" in the earlier puzzles. It is entirely possible that the variations from the original painting (some people see letters in those variations, but that could simply be the mind performing pattern recognition with a preconceived bias) are intended to lead us in the wrong direction and are not actually a part of the real solution at all.

If you look closely, you'll find that the 'X' that everyone thinks they can see so clearly on the rock at the bottom center of the image is not actually an 'X' at all. It is a series of twelve dark square pixels. Seven of the pixels are touching lower left corner to upper right corner creating something that can possibly be interpreted as a "connected diagonal line". Then there are three dark square pixels below and to the right of that "line". They touch each other lower right corner to upper left corner creating something that can possibly be interpreted as a separate "short connected diagonal line" on the opposite diagonal, and that does not come into contact with the longer "line". If it were extended, it would not cross the longer line in the middle, but rather with four of the seven pixels "below" and only three "above". Finally, there are two dark square pixels above and to the left of the "long line". They touch each other lower right corner to upper left corner creating something that can possibly be interpreted as a separate "very short connected diagonal line" on the same diagonal as the three pixel "line". It also does not come into contact with the longer "line", and (if extended) would cross the longer line at the same place as the three pixel "line".

So, maybe these aren't letters at all. And maybe they aren't even part of the clue.

Perhaps there is something unaltered in the original painting that is meant to be a clue.

"Illuminate the sky" could mean that we'll see something if we adjust the brightness or contrast of the image. It could be referring to the fact that the painting doesn't have a sun or moon. Perhaps there is a way to guess where a shadow would appear and something about that shadow would be a clue. There are a lot of possibilities that might have nothing at all to do with the slight alterations in the image that some people are seeing as letters.

I think the solution is:

King Nimrod

Like DannyHamilton said maybe is not about to trying to find a clue in the sky, i mean all the hidden letter that have been found are not in the sky and i doubt there something there, about the letters found in the picture someone mark 8 posible letters, i just only see 6 and all those can be roman numbers DCLXII that should be 662 (some people think the c is a g but not seems to me), so close to 666 ;) also the X in the stone is less hidden in comparison with the others, i mean you can almost see it without to zoom in the image, the others are more hard to see. That plus this new clue opened some paths to seek.

are the two vertical lines (I's?) in the upper left corner of the picture (sky?) original or added?

It's a rather low resolution image so it is difficult to tell if those are simple artifacts of jpeg compression, or if they are added intentionally. Either way, they are not in the original painting. However, due to the loss effects of jpeg compression and the fact that this is a low resolution image, there are MANY variations in the provided image from the original painting.

The "differences" that I circled in red in the image I linked to earlier are all differences identified when comparing to the closest match I could find on the internet (I found an image with the same resolution, the same color temperature, and similar looking jpeg compression. I assumed that if modifications were made to the image for the sake of a clue, then the image I found was possibly the source image that the clue giver used.

If you are interested, here is a link to a screenshot showing that same area of sky in both the "source" image that I found and the image provided as a clue:

Yes, it is the most likely explanation. If I was OP, I would give a clue like that if there is something relevant hidden in the sky.

Is the answer the Freemasons? or the Illuminati?

No, it means all the hidden letters and words are in the sky portion of the picture.

Hello, i'm very sorry that i have not been Active here much, i've been working on a project on the side which i believe some of you might like.

i've made a Website where i can put all my Ciphers and you get instantly paid when you solve it. prices will be ALOT higher this time and there will be Second, third, fourth and fifth prizes aswell ! as soon as the Domain is up i will post it here. i have some new Good Ciphers for you guys to crack.
if you'd like to help me gather prizes please do ! (pm me for more information)

the Answer to the last Puzzle was MDCCLXXVI Which is printed on the American Dollar! so the right Answer would be ''Dollar or USD''

all the numbers (MDCCLXXVI) was hidden within the picture. you can see the M in the Left corner up in the sky if you look close enough.

Hello! i'm finally done with the website ! here's how its going to be. the First one to break the Cipher or solve the Puzzle will win the first prize. everyone who solves it after him/her will also get some free Bitcoins!
if you Solve the Cipher / puzzle you are allowed to post it here !
Clues will sometimes appear on the website or here in the thread! you can also buy a Clue for your eyes only ! all those Bits will go to the Prize money or keeping the website open !
You only have 15 ''Lifes'' if you answer wrong 15 times you will LOSE that round and you won't be able to guess until next Cipher / puzzle.
if you guess Right you will not be able to guess Again.
Payment will now be instant and Ciphers / Puzzles will soon be QUED (after 2 weeks just to see that there's no bugs)!
and please, if you like these kinds of things and want to contribute to the Prize or website, make an donation Smiley
1FccbxoSKfbvJBVqh5x939va5wE2p29d7c

we're going to start off the first Cipher with a 2000000 Satoshi Prize.
there's a small prize for the 2th - 100th Right Answer to.

                                                       ☞ http://bitcoinciphers.com/index.php ☜

Once again, you only have 15 Chances.
I am very very sorry if there's some kind of bug on the website. its fresh! so the possibility of me losing all my Faucet BTC is very big lol.
So we shouldn't be able to solve it just by the one sentence on the website and the number? Good, because I have no idea!

I'm wondering if the sentence "watch your thoughts; they become words." has anything to do with the solution. ???
Maybe some kind of ANSI character encoding, but some of the numbers are too low for that.

No I had to move around some things and set a new time limit and deleted the calculator in the mean time, it gave away some errors so I have to fix that when I get home from work

May be the first quiz on new site should be a little easier?
For people just could understand how it works?

Guys, I don't want to be the first one who gives the right answer.
Let's share information and try to solve this puzzle together.

Ok, let's start to watch our thoughts :)

We have puzzle.
http://bitcoinciphers.com/uploads/f9aa5a6bda08edf1cefeea3de71914b246a6afd4.png

The phrase is the part of quote:
“Watch your thoughts, they become words;
watch your words, they become actions;
watch your actions, they become habits;
watch your habits, they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Where first letters of words "Words - Actions - Thoughts - Character - Habits" could be gathered again in WATCH.

So their order: 2,3,1,5,4 may be a key.

We also have the list of numbers.
20.166.93.14.88.2

It could be a phone number, GPS coordinates, ISBN or nothing.

If we take first letter of every digit we have:

tz.oss.nt.of.ee.t ("to feet" at the end almost have some sense :))

If we take first letter of every whole number we have:

t.ohss.nt.f.ee.t (even more sense, because OHSS is the reason of swollen FEET :))

The vertical line under "20" could mean something or could be just the part of cursor.

Exactly this. I took the time to copy it down as it was written on the website (which you can't copy from) so others can look at it and try to figure it out. No need for everyone to have to type it all out. If page views are what OP is after I will gladly take it down but ask that he post an image that is copy ready.

I join the request. It would be good to know the solution of the first puzzle to be able to tackle the next ones.

Oh well, will get back to it, and see if I could solve this one. :'(

Not just HHT but "H H T R N" is repeated 10 times.
Like "T S R MB I" and "I U SY A"

But I also don't know what does that mean :)

I have a theory that it might be an isogram based cipher

if you want to know more about isogram, check this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isogram

possible isogram words ??? I don't know... The word "Quizz !" looks suspicious, but has the letter "z" twice, so it's not the right one?

Then, i counted all the letters on each line:
24
27
24
24
25
25
27
26
28
26
21
25
29
28
13

if you add the "-"
then you got in each line this number of letters ("-" represents the - found in the image):
24
11-16
19-5
24
1-24
25
27
26
28
5-21
21
25
29
9-19
4-9

And then i started feeling like a paranoid...
:D ;D

P.S. Quiz is already solved by some guy in reddit

that is true. i've tried to sel ladd space, but people are not so interested :/

all Bitcoins are soon Completely dried out for this Level which means Level 3 will Start soon.

it might take a while for the bitcoins to reach your Wallet. stupid thing is a bit slow.

Have you tried https://bitmedia.io or https://a-ads.com? Those are both good bitcoin ad providers.

Edit: People seem to be interested according to your auction thread, just wait for a High bidder.

I'm not sure how they are related, but thought I'd share it. I've tried entering the above url as an answer, but no success.

I don't understand the correlation of the 'hidden' 6 and john though, I got the answer with sheer brute force so I didn't actually solve it.
It is the 6th in order of appearance.

what are you talking about? the previous (level2) cipher?

Hey,

:)

You get "wrong Answer" because this is not the right answer ;)

You just managed to decrypt the url but the image itself is just a clue for the next step that it will probably lead you to the solution.

Just observe the picture (last supper). There is a number somewhere that you have to find out what does it mean.
