There are some patterns that occur as frequently as 7 times, and some that only occur once.  In the past we've have had a clue that spelled out a sentence and we've had a clue where a sequence of letters was converted into a sequence of numbers.

If each pattern is meant to represent a number, and those numbers were then intended to represent a letter, then we could be looking at another sentence.

These two patterns each occur seven times:

The positions of the X's certainly seem to be significant.

They aren't evenly distributed in the columns.  There appears to be a bias for X's near the beginning of the row.  There also appears to be a bias for an X in the last row.

Given the 74 rows:

64 of them have an X in the first column
56 of them have an X in the second column (and all 56 also have an X in the first column)
44 of them have an X in the third column (and all but 1 of the 44 also have an X in BOTH of the first two columns)
33 of them have an X in the last column.

All the rest of the columns have an X in less than 30 rows.  Here's the exact breakdown for the number of rows with an X in each column:

EDIT: There are a total of 912 X's out of 3552 possible positions. If the X's were randomly distributed in the columns, we would expect to have approximately 19 X's per column (and slightly more than 12 X's per row).  Any column that has significantly more than 19 X's seems to have a bias towards having an X in that column.  Any column that has significantly less than 19 X's seems to have a bias towards having a Y in that column.

the clues must in some way point to a specific area or lines which do matter
