I also read /r/Bitcoin on reddit. Yeah I know, it can be an echo-chamber at times, but it's a quick and very easy way of keeping up to pace in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Reading the top comments is a very valuable thing, as well. There are often people calling out blatant mistakes of an article or a specific claim. That way you don't believe everything and the chamber gets a little less echo-y.

Title: Re: what are your main sources of Bitocin/Crypto news?
Post by: HarmonLi on February 19, 2015, 01:22:20 PM
Bitcoin talk and rarely the Bitcoin subreddit, you will most things here before anywhere else though.

Yeah it surely is the quickest source, that's right. I think you shouldn't dismiss the subreddit that quickly - if you look at the comments, as well, it becomes a rather valuable source of information. The nonsense you can find elsewhere often gets muted out due to the voting system. Then again, you often don't hear constructive criticism, as well...

Youtube, twitter, http, rss, etc. aren't sources they're channels or mediums of media. They're ways to consume news but they don't create it. Sources would be Coinbuzz.com, Coindesk.com, which can be found on the web.

If its a big news it is guaranteed to end up starting multiple threads. The last big one was Bter hack and there were some 20 threads throughout the forum. As for the smaller news goes, I am not interested.

Cryptocoinnews is a great site for all things crypto https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/ and of course for Bitcoin, the forum here is definitely one of the best, check here for important announcements https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=87.0
It's also a good idea to follow a few crypto centric Twitter accounts like @coindesk and @CoinTelegraph.

Well these days it seems that /r/bitcoin really become the go-to source for Bitcoin news. I think in such a decentralized environment it's stupid or dangerous to rely on centralized (and poentially paid!!!) 'news sites'

Here and reddit - specifically r/bitcoin and r/cryptocurrency.  Most "news sites" are poorly written and researched rags that look as if they are more concerned about ad revenue and paid articles than information. CoinBrief is an example of such a site to avoid.

My main sources of bitcoin news are Coindesk and Reddit (although you'll often find the exact same articles on both sites). Tend to prefer reddit as their are generally more comments (I often learn more from the comment section than the article itself :))

This forum is pretty handy for keeping up-to-date as long as you can sift through all the trolling/spamming.

News has an important part and role in the society. It connects people from different part of the world, and to inform public about events around them and on how it could give impact to their daily living.  However, nowadays fake news has become very uncontrolled and what we can do about it is to teach ourselves to be accountable in what we do and say and filter the authentic and truth news by checking its legit sources and people behind it. Some legit websites are bitcointalk.org, Reddit, investopedia.com, totalbitcoin.org, CNN, and cryptocurrencyfacts.com. For some who knows other legit websites and sources, please share.

Hello cryptovigilante,

We always suggest you use multiple sources of news/information to form your own opinion. There is a lot of news which could be slightly biased, therefore it is always wise to check sources and other information. Like said before it is wise to get your information from different sources but also from different platforms.

Youtube - We suggest the following channels: Altcoin Buzz, DataDash, Suppoman and Aantonop.
Reddit - We suggest the following subreddits: CryptoCurrency, Bitcoin, BitcoinBeginners and CryptoMarkets
News websites - We suggest the following websites: Coindesk, 99bitcoins, CCN, Blockonomi and Cointelegraph
Telegram and Slack - You should join the channels in your region or the groups of the coin you are interested in.

This should be a good start for getting up to date news on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. If you want more suggestions you can always contact us in a DM.

With kind regards,
The Anycoin Direct team

what are your main sources of Bitocin/Crypto news?
I mostly come to the bitcointalk.org forum and the RedditBitcoin community to know what’s happening and to also know what’s trending lol. There are some news that I might not see when surfing the net, but when I come to anyone of these communities (Reddit and Bitcointalk) I will see a thread where people are discussing one thing or the other that I don’t even know about. So I will count these two communities as my number one reliable source of getting the news about cryptocurrency. Apart from the two I do go to CryptoCoinsNews, Coindesk, and some others too.

I also use social networks to always keep abreast of the latest news about crypto-currencies. But in addition to facebook, twitter, telegram and others, I'm looking for information on news resources devoted to crypto-currencies. One of my favorite sites is https://news.bitcoin.com/ There's a lot of useful information. Never ever signed up at Reddit, not even aware of Coindesk. I don't usually go to sites to manually monitor any events or updates regarding Bitcoin. What I only do is go to Coinmakrket cap for its current market standing and status. I only rely on Bitcointalk, since those news came from mentioned sites were being shared here. Also, I am following "legit" Telegram group channels for the same reason.

I mostly use Coindesk.com and Cryptocoinsnews.com, their articles are mostly a good read.

And from time to time also Twitter and Reddit.

wtf coindesk? are serious they dont even have the disqus function this is a pure ripple propganda system.

just look at this
https://www.coindesk.com/why-ripples-xrp-outperformed-the-other-top-cryptos-this-week/

they celebrate their own coin.

drop coindesk seriously.

Usually I take from bitcointalk and Youtube (Techcrunch Channel), this is very informative and as a reference I look for information about the history of all the coins from the source directly interviewed, because with interview we can measure how well the project works.

My most used website is coindesk.com, I suggest this website because I learned many new things here and it keeps me updated on recent happenings in cryptocurrency world. There are interesting news that you might want to read. Next to coindesk is probably this forum, bitcointalk and lastly is reddit,I use bitcointalk more than reddit though.
