Yes, in the plastic lining of most aluminum cans. It's highly soluble in alcohol. Also no, it's not just in plastics. Thermal printer paper (receipts) are usually soaked with BPA, up to 2%.

Could somebody help me out here? How exactly is NEFT related to Bitcoin, other than having the sign "We support BTC economy" on their website? I didn't see Bitcoin anywhere else, neither on the cans nor is there a shop where I can order some NEFT for BTC. Are they just trying to get the Bitcoin crowd wasted?

Until I see it happen, it's just another empty promise. Sorry to sound so sceptical, but my scepticism is justified after all the hype-based marketing I've seen.

Honestly, I don't know enough to comment...so I won't because I dont want MORE rumors starting because of me.

A few Bitcoiners and I are meeting the guys behing BitcoinCard in Europe at the end of the month to talk about US Distribution.

So here's what I'm requesting. Will the owner(s) of BitcoinCard/NeftVolka please come forward and lay out your cards?

You are overthinking it.

Basically, when we were all in Vienna working on BitcoinCard we were introduced to a few people who make NEFT Vodka and they fell in love with Bitcoin.

The same people working on the BitcoinCard are the ones who introduced us (I think they did some business in the past together) which gave us some credibility when pitching Bitcoin.

Anyways, one of the NEFT guys and I became good friends, he was just in NYC actually, and he has a Bitcoin boner!

Given my past in eCommerce and shipping logistics, I offered to help them set up distribution but they declined my help because they already have distribution in the US ready to go and I think they are just working on the importing and licenses now.

Is it possible there are higher up connections? Im sure its possible, but thats higher then my paygrade lol and I dont speak Russian nor German. I'm sure there are investors in NEFT that have business interests in other things, and the chain could reach BitcoinCard. I'm not sure.

Thats pretty much all I know right now, but I'm happy to relay any questions to them!

Are you sure that Thomas Holzinger is really behind both businesses, and not just an owner/worker in a PR firm that both businesses hired? For instance maybe part of the services they offer is registering domains and hosting websites? Just wondering out loud...

Thomas Holzinger is the general manager of NEFT for Europe and a good friend of mine...he has nothing to do with the BitcoinCard as my understanding.

It's possible he has registered domain names, but it probably means he works with the same people, like I said similar business interests.

Regardless of the device, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting Alex Squared and the rest of the European Bitcoiners who were there. It’s hard to quantify how fulfilling and exciting it is to meet up with people from all over the world who are as passionate as we are about this monetary revolution. And damn, some of these people are just brilliant, which doesn’t hurt. Don’t send alcohol. And, in most cases, don’t send prescription drugs, cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, or handguns.

Alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, or liquor) are not considered hazardous but can’t go in the mail. If you’re reusing a box displaying their alcohol brands, all logos and labels need to be covered up.

Even before I got to the bottom of your post, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

As far as I know, that has never been done before. Let me ask you this: At the end of the day, do you salivate like Pavlov's dog each time you hear the ring? There's a Super Bowl commercial in that idea somewhere. A slogan comes to mind (the following is complete and is NOT asking a question): Neft: Sounds Like. Purposely, left incomplete because the sound (used a double entendre) means different things to different people, couple with the tone probably isn't the same due to unknown factors, especially if there's liquid in the container.

I've been informed that NEFT is now "available in California" and that they are "looking to begin in Las Vegas" this month.

These do have the Bitcoin logo on the barrel (as they were on the ones at the Bitcoin Conference in San Jose).

I didn't get the name(s) of merchants selling NEFT, ... but I believe BevMo was supposed to be one.

I'll solicit help from some SoCal Bitconers to learn where NEFT can be purchased, but if anyone following this thread already knows, please share!

Since it is now sold within the U.S., it should be easy to find someone from L.A. or Vegas who would be able to buy one and ship it f to you.  You could probably even post the gig on http://bitgigs.com or TaskRabbit or something like that.    Maybe even on http://Coinality.com

In San Francisco the two best merchants are the Jug Shop and Bryans Market. In Marin they can go to Mill Valley Market and Woodlands in Tiburon. In Santa Rosa they can go to the Bottle Barn.

This is not an inexpensive vodka.  Top shelf pricing.
