Working on the last steps of distribution.

There is already 50,000 bottles in Russia with the Bitcoin logo on them.

I personally drank from one of the bottles  ;D

They plan on brining it to the USA now with alot more. All with Bitcoin logo.

I don't like the idea of alcohol extracting BPA or other crap from the lining of the can. Glass is the king.

We are friends with the owners and when they come to the US or we go to Russia or Austria we get a few bottles.

The most I was able to fit was 8 bottles in my suitcase.

They already have distribution set up and importing the trailers into California for US shipping, its just a matter of time...

Imported the old fashioned way... fly to Austria, come back with 8 barrels in my luggage. How it made it through security is beyond me (yes it was checked baggage, but can you imagine what the x-ray image would look like? hahahaha)

Yes, in the plastic lining of most aluminum cans. It's highly soluble in alcohol. Also no, it's not just in plastics. Thermal printer paper (receipts) are usually soaked with BPA, up to 2%.

Could somebody help me out here? How exactly is NEFT related to Bitcoin, other than having the sign "We support BTC economy" on their website? I didn't see Bitcoin anywhere else, neither on the cans nor is there a shop where I can order some NEFT for BTC. Are they just trying to get the Bitcoin crowd wasted?

Am I right--THIS TIME (for once), Yankee?

~Bruno~

Honestly, I don't know enough to comment...so I won't because I dont want MORE rumors starting because of me.

Here's the deal! I've found nothing nefarious about either entities, for I've no reason to dig for such, and only stumbled upon the information by happenstance, but make no mistake, both entities are connected, and am currently taken aback that said information is not disclosed. Unless I'm missing something, there should be nothing to hide, and it's not at all strange for two completely different business types to be operated by the same enterprise.

So here's what I'm requesting. Will the owner(s) of BitcoinCard/NeftVolka please come forward and lay out your cards?

Thank you, in advance.

~Bruno~

PS: And rumors shouldn't even be part of the equation unless, of course, I've also stumbled upon the September surprise, for it looks like that BitcoinCard(.org) looks promising.

what is this, when can i get mine?

http://bitcoincard.org/

A few Bitcoiners and I are meeting the guys behing BitcoinCard in Europe at the end of the month to talk about US Distribution.

Will keep you all updated!

You are overthinking it.

Basically, when we were all in Vienna working on BitcoinCard we were introduced to a few people who make NEFT Vodka and they fell in love with Bitcoin.

The same people working on the BitcoinCard are the ones who introduced us (I think they did some business in the past together) which gave us some credibility when pitching Bitcoin.

Anyways, one of the NEFT guys and I became good friends, he was just in NYC actually, and he has a Bitcoin boner!

Given my past in eCommerce and shipping logistics, I offered to help them set up distribution but they declined my help because they already have distribution in the US ready to go and I think they are just working on the importing and licenses now.

Is it possible there are higher up connections? Im sure its possible, but thats higher then my paygrade lol and I dont speak Russian nor German. I'm sure there are investors in NEFT that have business interests in other things, and the chain could reach BitcoinCard. I'm not sure.

Thats pretty much all I know right now, but I'm happy to relay any questions to them!

Title: Re: NEFT Vodka and Bitcoin
Post by: Bitcoin Oz on September 09, 2012, 01:13:23 AM

So here's what I'm requesting. Will the owner(s) of BitcoinCard/NeftVolka please come forward and lay out your cards?

-Charlie

Fair enough, Charlie, and as I said, I suspect nothing nefarious. But for the record...

Again, nothing nefarious, but a fuller understanding of who's behind Neft Vodka, and now BitcoinCard, is warranted.

There you have it! A couple of good-ole-PR-boys who, at least one of them, is behind NeftVodka and BitcoinCard.

For the life of me, I don't understand why both business concerns needed to be presented to this community in the matter in which they were presented.

Look what I found!
Yea, that's me or I'm behind that or there's more info coming.

Or the way this thread was started, with all due respect to evoorhees--seriously.

Until I have reason to believe otherwise, Charlie, Erik, Roger, et al., are great bitcoiners, but come on guys, let's be a little more up front. With the exception of the real trolls, we're all on the same team, albeit I'm in an orange uniform, but regardless, let's play ball.

Peace!

Are you sure that Thomas Holzinger is really behind both businesses, and not just an owner/worker in a PR firm that both businesses hired? For instance maybe part of the services they offer is registering domains and hosting websites? Just wondering out loud...

Thomas Holzinger is the general manager of NEFT for Europe and a good friend of mine...he has nothing to do with the BitcoinCard as my understanding.

It's possible he has registered domain names, but it probably means he works with the same people, like I said similar business interests.

Sorry Bruno, everything I told you is transparent and truthful.

Oh, neither of those guys in the picture is Thomas, I've never seen those guys before.

I fucked up again! No excuses and I wasn't tired. There's only 11 Thomas Holzinger on Lindedin, and I thought for sure I had the right one.

Once again, I suspect nothing nefarious in regard to either BitcoinCard or NeftVodka, and deeply admire both concerns, along with you (Charlie), Erik and Roger.

That said, I am even more curious as to whom this Thomas Holzinger guy is, for now I've (re)found this...

Regardless of the device, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting Alex Squared and the rest of the European Bitcoiners who were there. It’s hard to quantify how fulfilling and exciting it is to meet up with people from all over the world who are as passionate as we are about this monetary revolution. And damn, some of these people are just brilliant, which doesn’t hurt. I know myself, Charlie, and Roger consider Alex and Alex wonderful new friends – they were kind, witty, inquisitive, and extremely generous (Russian Alex loaded us up with 24 bottles of his Russian vodka brand, Neft, which was a challenge to bring back through the airport). Personally, I consider them both strong allies and assets of the Bitcoin community.

Therefore, if I'm reading the above (and full linked post) correctly, two guys named Alex operate BitcoinCard.org, with one Alex (the Russian one) owns Neft Vodka.

For the life of me, I can't see how Thomas Holzinger's name can be attached to either entity with the exception that that's the name both companies are registered under.

There are 2 Alex's. One is full time on the BitcoinCard and friends with the other Alex who runs NEFT with Tom.

Don’t send alcohol. And, in most cases, don’t send prescription drugs, cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, or handguns.

Alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, or liquor) are not considered hazardous but can’t go in the mail. If you’re reusing a box displaying their alcohol brands, all logos and labels need to be covered up.

I'm not even to going to look to see who received the vodka, let alone ask who sent it and how was it transported.

This does give me an idea though. Does anybody here have some extra 'hemp' laying around that can be sent to Pirate's home? At the expected time of delivery, inform the P.O. (anonymously) that this guy is receiving drugs through the mail and selling them to your 7th grade daughter.

I guess that makes sense. If it was legal the taxes would on importing product would be ridiculously high.

As far as I can tell, mailing booze is bad, but causing booze to be sent to you from overseas isn't a big deal.

As in, you are liable for the import duty, which is under $1.00/litre, and (worse) if they notice that it is booze, they'll halt it wherever it is and give you the option of abandonment or having another (non-USPS) carrier pick it up and finish delivery.  $$$

Some of the more common items patrons would like to mail, but aren’t allowed to, include: alcohol (wines and spirits), alcohol-filled candy, foodstuffs of animal or plant origin, meat products — including dried and canned meats — and foods containing nonedible items, for example, Kinder eggs, those popular chocolate eggs with a toy inside.

More information on banned items is available in the International Mail Manual, which breaks down prohibited items by country, at http://pe.usps.gov/text/imm/welcome.htm. A list of CENTCOM-specific restrictions is in CENTCOM Regulation 25-103.

Although lithium battery shipment is already prohibited by the USPS between stateside and international locations, customers are also advised not to mail items with an alkaline battery installed, because the article might start operating. Officials say even greeting cards with electronic greetings or music have delayed the mail when they started making noise.

Their bottle appears in the beginning (it's their bottle isn't it?) and the name "Neft" is written on one of the airplanes of the hangar.
Plus, this:
It also happens to be a very bold piece of branded content for the Russian vodka company Neft.

Good choice of advertising, that video is amazing.

Their bottle appears in the beginning (it's their bottle isn't it?) and the name "Neft" is written on one of the airplanes of the hangar.
Plus, this:
It also happens to be a very bold piece of branded content for the Russian vodka company Neft.

You're right, I didn't catch that.

By chance does anyone happen to know how to make a Satoshini?

I know from the ones served at Bitcoin 2013 it is made with Neft but since that isn't sold in the U.S. yet (hint silk Road sellers...) I figure I should be able to get a close approximation with Goose or some house swill even if needed, but I've no idea what else is needed.

[Edit: I found a pic which shows the ingredients:

NEFT vodka, Triple Sec, pomegranate juice, lemon

https://i.imgur.com/blsowNX.jpg

So it is like a Cosmopolitan with Pomegranate instead of Cranberry.  Plus lemon.]

Coming soon to a BevMo near you (at least that's what the importer at Bitcoin 2013 was saying).

Neft is registered as a Liquor brand with the State of NY:

The Sound of NEFT

In the window of my office I have an empty barrel of black NEFT. Twice a day it makes a clicking sound, in the morning when it heats up, and in the evening when it cools down. It is the bottom of the barrel that makes the sound when the pressure goes up and down. (You need to keep the lid on and closed tightly). The barrel I have has a small dent close to the bottom, so I don't know if this happens with all barrels.

This is the NEFT sound!

Whenever I hear it I think about NEFT  ;D

Crazy idea for marketing?

Even before I got to the bottom of your post, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

As far as I know, that has never been done before. Let me ask you this: At the end of the day, do you salivate like Pavlov's dog each time you hear the ring? There's a Super Bowl commercial in that idea somewhere. A slogan comes to mind (the following is complete and is NOT asking a question): Neft: Sounds Like. Purposely, left incomplete because the sound (used a double entendre) means different things to different people, couple with the tone probably isn't the same due to unknown factors, especially if there's liquid in the container.

Genius!

Yeah, I feel a bit like participating in the dog experiment. Two problems:
1. I am giving the only barrel I have left as a present Saturday (Maybe getting a shipment Friday or Saturday, so I am gambling here)
2. The first click is too early in the morning for me to have a shot (depending on weather, in particular direct sun)

Was there any NEFT flowing at the European bitcoin conference?   I wasn't thinking, I probably could have asked someone from the U.S. that was attending to pick up a couple barrels and bring them back to the states.   The Bitcoin logo and message on the side of the barrel are a great endorsement.

Good news!

I've been informed that NEFT is now "available in California" and that they are "looking to begin in Las Vegas" this month.

These do have the Bitcoin logo on the barrel (as they were on the ones at the Bitcoin Conference in San Jose).

I didn't get the name(s) of merchants selling NEFT, ... but I believe BevMo was supposed to be one.

I'll solicit help from some SoCal Bitconers to learn where NEFT can be purchased, but if anyone following this thread already knows, please share!

Since it is now sold within the U.S., it should be easy to find someone from L.A. or Vegas who would be able to buy one and ship it f to you.  You could probably even post the gig on http://bitgigs.com or TaskRabbit or something like that.    Maybe even on http://Coinality.com

Just saw them at a larger market here... however except for the logo and the "support" there is nothing on their website or anywhere else that has any connection to Bitcoin whatsoever.

I'm not going to spend 40€+ for a "barrel" (nice marketing but not much more, I can get better vodka for less money) just because the print something related to Bitcoins on there - but then don't even offer a webshop with Bitcoin payments or anything related to them (e.g. offering wholesale in BTC in their materials). Is there any more linking to Bitcoins than them "liking" the idea because they know some Viennese Bitocoiners and printing the logo on the barrel?

Yes you can, however I recomend this.

Before putting it in the freezer, pull the top up leave the cap closed. Keep it in the freezer for a few hours. Best tasted icy cold. Then leave the top up, but close the cap. I would never put the top back down.

I wonder if I could find anyone from L.A. coming to Bitcoin 2014 (Amsterdam) that I could pay to pick up a barrel of NEFT and bring it with them.  Actually, I want two (one to be opened at the conference, one left sealed to take home after) -- but the "duty free" limit for the person headed to Amsterdam is one litre per person:

[Edit: Not sure why I was thinking this had to come from the U.S., NEFT is sold in some parts of Europe, I believe.  Anyone, anywhere have a supply?]

Have you seen pictures of the girl eating this?
It is surprising that ANY sour cream passes her lips.
I think she could live on a couple hundred calories a day.

Damm hope it comes to the EU.
Might buy one or two :D

Urban drinks UK sell it online over here in the UK. It's £46.50 per barrel for both black or white and a flat rate of £7.90 shipping no matter how much you buy.

Link below.

Wow! I like it - it's design is pretty cool!  :D  WHere can I buy it?

Europe -- various locations.
U.S. -- California and Las Vegas.  Scroll back to previous posts in this thread for locations.

Apparently the ones you can buy in shops in Europe don't feature the bitcoin logo. Is that correct or not?

Is there any more linking to Bitcoins than them "liking" the idea because they know some Viennese Bitocoiners and printing the logo on the barrel?
The owner of NEFT is the primary investor in Mycelium  ;)
This is true. It is also true mycellium app loses private keys.

Based on a traditional Russian recipe, their high-quality vodka is distilled in Austria and uses pure rye that contributes to the unique flavour of NEFT vodka. Further essential components are multiple distillations, filtration through specific activated-carbon layer filters and the use of fresh mountain spring water. NEFT vodka contains no additives, and its slightly sweet aroma is attributed to the distillate. NEFT Vodka is produced only in small quantities, which results in a production process significantly different from conventional products. A vodka in a class by itself.

In China, you can buy a house.
In China there are whole newly towns built towns without people.
And due to the 1 child policy, they are facing severe population shrinking soon.
They should buy Neft instead.  It will hold value better.

That depends on where you are standing.

I've picked some up at local liqueur shops and in some of the better duty free airports.

I have seen many different varities, but never a 1L barrel.

Best of luck trying to smuggle alcohol into the US from another country.
There are laws against doing this as it is on the list of banned products to be shipped into the country.
No one ever heard of commissions of tobacco and alcohol products before? ::)

You are only allowed 1 liter aboard an airplane flight so good luck on trying to get a whole barrel into the country. :-[

Only if you are buyer of alcohol and have a permit to do so. You would also need to have it submitted to the liquor commission in your state before it ships. >:(

Haven't seen their barrels in any store in quite a while, so your best bet is to ask them and/or to order from them.

They must be rebranding to NFT Vodka. No Bitcoin in sight anymore.
