I hope all of you have reviewed my posts in the kLee's PnF thread in the Economics -> Speculation forum.

You will find there people who will verify that I have predicted all of the major moves of the BTC price since the top last 2013. For example, I predicted the $315 top recently for the bounce exactly. And I made that prediction back in May when we were loitering in the low $200s.

You might also view my prescient public prediction for silver back in 2010 predicting the rise from $26 to $48 by March to May 2011 and then a fall to $26:

http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article23786.html

I am able to do this by understanding very well both group psychology and more importantly because I understand Martin Armstrong's $1 billion supercomputer model of the history of the world, which for example predicted the closing price of oil at $54 for Dec. 31, 2014, back when oil was $100. I distinctly remember reading his blog back in August 2012 when the DJIA was correcting back below 12,000 and he predicted a steady rise from there to a possible double or triple. He also said that if it topped @ 18,000 in 2015, then that would be the sign that the USA stock markets had phase shifted (from being a public asset such as sovereign bonds) and aligned with private assets (such as gold, collectibles, Bitcoin). The point being that private assets peaked in 2011 (Bitcoin 2013 because it was playing catch up) and they will make their lows as the liquidity crisis accelerates and the final move into the short-end of the yield curve for bonds in Europe this October.

So gold, Bitcoin, and altcoins will be making their lows this coming spring 2016. This is 100% certain.

Expect gold to drop to < $700 ($680), Bitcoin will drop to double-digits again, and altcoins will be demolished fall to perhaps 1/5 their current prices.

So do NOT buy altcoins now. You want to be selling everything and moving to $dollars and wait.

As the Europe crisis accelerates this September - January, cash will be king. Japan will follow for its final leg down on its 26 year crisis culmination.

All over the world, capital is going to be stampeding into the $dollar and then USA stocks as safe haven. By 2017.9, we will see the DJIA double in price.

Private assets such as Bitcoin and gold, will get sold off severely because the shorts will pile on once they smell blood. The bottom will be reached by short covering, not by bulls. The bulls will be exhausted and have lost most of their capital by selling at the lows (which is what always happens to delusional fools who believe in an investing GOD as if BITGOD is something that can disobey the normal laws of investing).

I am telling you this because I want you to reserve some $dollar cash, so that you will be able to buy BTC and any world changing altcoin in Spring 2016 and become incredibly wealthy.

Ignore my warning at your peril!

...Looks like week of Aug 10 will ensue the big sell off in gold (and probably also Bitcoin):

You are a good writer and convincing; I give you that.

I can honestly see it going down like that, as that would be the unthinkable ($100 bitcoin and a collapsed market) only to soar back up again in 2016.

Here's my plan: I'm gonna buy my favorite alt-coin.  Then I'm gonna buy some more.  And if the price goes down, I will buy even more.  And no matter what, I won't sell an asset I believe in just because the price drops.

As a long term trader who doesn't want to play the swings: once your money goes into an economy, it stays there.  If you aren't willing to buy an alt-coin for 3 years, don't buy it at all.

GEC (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=776426.msg8751393#msg8751393) could be "spent" (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ex%20nihilo%20nihil%20fit#mwEntryData) ex nihilo (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ex%20nihilo#mwEntryData) (and, thus, ex necessitate rei (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ex%20necessitate%20rei#mwEntryData)), so "the next [five] years or more" (xhoneyael) could be irrelevant as long as its "buying power" were non-null.

So we don't want an anti-money (whom can free-for-all coinbase nilly-willy debase faster race into the abyss) shitcoin that is designed to perniciously, self-destruct into a mutual chaos.

As a long term trader who doesn't want to play the swings: once your money goes into an economy, it stays there.  If you aren't willing to buy an alt-coin for 3 years, don't buy it at all.

Right; seconded. Unless you're a skilled trader - a really skilled trader, and not someone who imagines he is (sigh) - that's the only way to play the speculative-asset game.

I know I'm turning into somewhat of a bore by coming back to this anecdote, but the largest dollar profit I ever made on a gold-exploration penny stock was a company whose stock went nowhere for more than a year after I first bought it. As I said earlier, I could have gone down to visit their project, quizzed each geologist extensively, and examined every rock sample they pulled out of the ground there - and when I went back after that lengthy "sabbatical," I could have bought more at the same price that prevailed when I first got in.

In actual fact, the company was reclaiming an abandoned mine and was proceeding to re-open it. All of this work was going on while the stock price flatlined. I kept my eye on the work, so I was undeterred by the disappointing performance of the stock. In fact, I did buy more at the same price as the work progressed. That's how I landed a big dollar profit when the stock finally "woke up."

That wake-up happened when the company published a Feasibility Study which showed an Internal Rate of Return of >25%. Since gold was rising, and the regs governing Feasibility Studies "recommended" using the average of gold's price over the previous three years, the punters saw the Internal Rate of Return as conservative: lowbally. So, once it was clear that the company's IRR meant it had a good shot to acquire the capital to see the project through, the stock took off. :)

This analogy, I stipulate, has only limited applicability to cryptocurrencies. In the mining-exploration game, there's a guiding star: turn this here exploration project into a paying mine. That's quite specific. In contrast, the end-game for a cryptocurrency is quite vague. "Using it as real money"...by how many people? For what? As a fiat-alias or as part of a real & growing crypto-economy, in which people make a living without touching fiat? "When it enters the mainstream"...to what extent? Apple-level, Linux-level or Windoze-level? Would entering the mainstream of a stable but non-normal niche (like the Darknet or the underground economy in general) be "mainstream" enough?

The reason for this question-salad is to show that aforementioned vagueness relative to mining exploration. The downside to this vagueness is that waiting for your end-game is going to involve a lot of wandering around in the dark without any "objective" guiding star to guide your path.

But the upside is: there's no way to even forecast the eventual value of a cryptocurrency that succeeds! The specificity of exploration's guiding star - a paying mine - actually limits its upside value. The best you can hope for from an exploration stock is for the underlying company to have a paying mine and generate revenues, profits and a dividend from that mine - and, of course, for the stock market to value its stock accordingly. The very specificity of the guiding star means that the exploration company will never be an Apple and it will never be valued as such. But cryptocurrency's very end-game vagueness means that there's no such value-cap.

Consequently, we have absolutely no idea what Bitcoin, NXT, Monero, HZ, etc. will be worth in ten years. We have no idea of what the upside will turn out to be. All we know is that the downside for any cryptocurrency is zero (i.e., worthless.)

From this perspective, it makes a lot of sense to put together a "Ten Year Buy & Forget" portfolio of at least five but no more than ten quality "old-reliable" cryptocurrencies. Buy those 5-10; put the wallet files and/or the passwords (for brainwallet alts) in a safe or safe-deposit box, and forget about them until 2025. Even if all but one fall to zero, there's a very good chance that the one which doesn't will yield a huge enough profit to make the entire "Buy & Forget Portfolio" yield a huge gain.

I wish I had the $$$ to implement this strategy atm...

FootyCash is great to collect:

Footy Cash (FOOT) has seen a meteoric rise in valuation for the past month; with a price increase of more than 5000%+ on multiple exchanges.

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange/?market=FOOT_BTC#

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1374929.0

I think the reason being is that:

1. Footy has Rarity - Only 4 million coins total can exist.  There is a small POS inflation rate - about 3% annually (for staked coins only).
How many of you can say like the Winklevoss twins - that you own whole percentages of a cryptocurrency.
Looking the current price of FootyCash you actually might be able to!

2. Footy is the first Fantasy Sports Crypotocurrency ever made. - Footy is the Bitcoin of Fantasy Sports!

3. Fantasy Sports is a multi-billion dollar industry - with tens of billions of dollars in annual revenue just for Fantasy Football alone!  If you count all the illegal gambling the figure goes much higher - maybe hundreds of billions? (not that I am condoning illegal gambling - but it's a fact of reality that must be considered anyway).

4. Coinmarketcap list just under 900 altcoins; of those listed only a  small percentage of altcoins have a cap of less than 4 million total coin.  Every coin on coinmarketcap with a rarity of less than 7 million total coins produced are all worth more than $2.00 USD - with the exception of Dreamcoin (because of YOBIT) and FOOTY CASH (which is currently undergoing a price correction: 5000% increase in the past month alone.)

5. The coin was greatly undervalued because of unawareness of the Footy cryptocurrency and Fantasy Sports as well.  As more and more people become aware of its value the price will continue to rise. The price may go higher than $10.00 USD per coin before the end of the year!

6. FootyCash has a great developer, active development, and the best community support!

7. FootyCash has a promising roadmap and is currently developing Masternodes and Anonymous Send like DASH and PIVX for the next release.

8.  The name FootyCash may sound funny but "Footy Cash" is an actual English term (apparently):

     https://www.power100.com.au/news/local-news/81959-footy-cash-to-go-to-good-friday-appeal
     and
     http://www.heraldsun.com.au/ipad/california-club-brothel-sues-in-footy-cash-feud/news-story/bd77f7d397a34a067342a113b5bfa5d8

9. DraftKings, FanDuel, and other Fantasy Sports companies are getting the legislative green light to operate in most U.S States and other countries as well.

https://www.law360.com/articles/944544/draftkings-fanduel-can-focus-on-dfs-legalization-post-deal

Quote
Over the past year and a half, DraftKings and FanDuel have been able to convince state lawmakers in eight states to expressly legalize DFS, most significantly in New York as it ended lawsuits by the state attorney general.

When these companies decide to follow the trend of most corporations and switch to blockchain technology - I guarantee you that they will take a hard look at FootyCash first!

Quote
Why would Draftkings or Fanduel select FootyCash (FOOT) for customer deposits/withdrawals over conventional Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum?  Why should they use FootyCash over Bitcoin?

FootyCash (FOOT) is the first cryptocurrency designed for Fantasy Sports and there are only 4 million total coins ever; as good as those reasons are, what makes FootyCash a better choice over Bitcoin for DraftKings and Fanduel customer deposits/withdrawals are the following reasons:

FootyCash's roadmap and ongoing development will make FootyCash far better for Fantasy Sports than the other more popular coins such as Bitcoin, etc.

FootyCash will have features that are specifically designed for Fantasy Sports and gambling as a whole.

One example is an Anonymous Send feature like DASH and PIVX.  Bitcoin does not have Masternodes nor an Anonymous Send feature but FootyCash is currently developing these features.

The legality of Fantasy Sports in every country is not clear, most being ambiguous at best. Even though most U.S states are legalizing Fantasy Sports gambling there are some people who would feel more comfortable with a coin designed to protect them in the area where the law may not be clear.

Both Draftkings and Fanduel also would want a coin that can cater to the Fantasy Sports industry as a whole, with features designed for Fantasy Sports - i.e fantasy sidechains, etc...

Bitcoin can't do that, but FootyCash can.

*****************************************************************

FootyCash (FOOT) dev just confirmed Anonymous Send feature like DASH and PIVX to be added along with masternodes in the new release of FootyCash:

From:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1374929.400

The focus right now is on creating masternodes for the coin.  They will help provide stability to the network and incentives for ownership.

We are making excellent progress, and will update the community on details for how many coins are required for a masternode, features, and other important information shortly.

Welcome to any new members of the community ;D

How many coins to avail in masternodes? What is the benifets if i buy masternodes? It looks good for me i just want to know some more info about this coin thank you dev. I wish i could buy some cheap coins until the masternodes emplimentation is release

There are a number of important features outlined below.  We will be releasing details on masternode requirements soon.

The fantasy sports industry needs faster payment methods and anonymity to protect personal information, so these features fall right in line with our mission statement.

Features

  • Anonymous Transactions
  • Improved Network Security
  • Faster transactions
  • Decentralization
  • Community voting on proposals

Are you going to use the same Anonymous Send features as DASH or PIVX?

Yes.  What we are working on for the masternodes will have an anonymous transaction like PIVX and DASH.  Still testing things, and will keep the community updated.  Hope to have something ready in the next week.

Ripple is a terrible idea, its only good for traders due to extreme volatility. All the things people say about it to hype it up like banks buying it up are simply untrue. The reality is that sooner or later people will realize and it will drop faster than you can say ripple.

yes this is a chance good for buying the coins such as SONM and Monaco because this coin Is experiencing a decline in prices below the ICO. and i sure the coin will experience a price increase.

Same here. But add to it Stratis. Some say this year will be very good for Verge also. And next year, DGB will rise. NEM is also believed to fly. I have also stumbled upon a speculation that in 3 years, Ripple will reach the hundred figure. I don't know how reliable that prediction is but who knows, right? We are risk-takers here trying to invest on something we trust.

yes this is a chance good for buying the coins such as SONM and Monaco because this coin Is experiencing a decline in prices below the ICO. and i sure the coin will experience a price increase.
Well, not only Monaco and SONM, MobileGo in currently still cheap if compare the potential of this token, I don't know just by can't listing Bittrex in short time make the price MobileGo falldown more as now. But I believe this token will create a big change in future

SONM is the one which may make you buy a lot of pizza in the future. Just look at their project, it is very impressive, if they will do their goals in the project, it is very likely to see billions of dollar market cap.

I think best altcoin to collect is ethereum but after get enough the ethereum, we must invest in ICOs there are chance the money growing up than invest in one altcoins in ethereum, because to collect ethereum will be difficult to getting large of amount ethereum, especially from faucets website with invest in ICOs, we can participate even just for small amount of capital.

best altcoin to collect?

Well it depends on what exactly you want from your collection
DO you want a quick high volume return
or
is it something you want to hold long term?

Here is my 2c
pick something other than ripple in the top 10 on coinmarketcap,
these probably wont give you a rapid high volume return but they
have a proven record and are being constantly developed. A good
bet for long term holding IMO

Ripple is valued very low so you can buy a billion of them for a low buy-in
I think this is why people tend to push ripple but you really need a billion XRP
to see a quick high volume return.

That depends on your target, if you want to get very rich by small investment, you need to look at new coins with bright future, their value can be 1000x more then today and can bring you to the moon. (from 0.01USD to 10USD per coin, not that much, right?)

Buy all the very cheap altcoins today! And leave them for 5 years or more. Who knows one or more of those coins will make you rich later. Digibyte is one of my suggestion!

Sad but that's how it always go. Investing on altcoin is no differ in gambling you can double or triple and even more the money you have in in just few hours holding them but there is also a high risk that you might lose if not all big part of it if you had buy a wrong coin.

Compete with Ripple???? Hahaha no offense but ripple is yearssssss ahead of any competition. When Stellar even gets close to being where ripple is currently ripple will already control the market. Ripple is more than a concept, its more than "in development" its already effectively implemented in banks and saving them money. Ripple will be the next, if not the biggest, missed opportunity for many.

Agreed on one side note though. Real banks don't use the blockchain and exchanges directly, but rather use a kind of 3rd party instrument that holds the Ripple, or something.

pretty much any altcoin that has gained solid community overtime.

I agree even bitcoin is what it is today because of huge number of supporters it has so that's one of good suggestion but along with that other things must also be taken care of like the dev of the coin, market cap and the unique features an altcoin has.

It's all about Siacoin. The world is slowly running out of space and their idea to utilise unused space on the network is great. It creates a ubiquitous environment where no free space is wasted and offer great competition to all the Cloud providers, by being cheap and easily accessible by anyone. The coin is still super cheap and poses very little risk for the the possibility of a large pay off.

ETH, DASH, Zcash, Monero are the top altcoins in the market. And now miners are mining ETC more because it is giving more profit in short time. ETC classic also has impressive value. If you invest on these coins, you will make a big profit in after 2 years. Specially ETH may cross $1000 this has the capability to cross this margin in 2 years of time.

Best altcoins to collect are established coins like eth, dash, monero, ripple, zcash, ltc and so on. The prices of these altcoins multiplied within a year or even only a few months. Other possibilities to find good altcoins are new ones with an innovative project and nonanonym team behind the project.

There are two ways you can approach that situation, the first one is to grab a coin that is on the top 10 that way you know that most likely that coin is going to have value in 5 years, the problem is that coin will have a large market cap already and you will not make much money, the other way is to roll the dice and invest in an ICO, you could lose all your investment, but you could also earn big.

Well its still depends on the who realy want to invest in the company that was just my opinion.

I personally recommend that you start investing in ICOs, you will never know what will happen in the next few years. Though it's risky, you better do own research about the coin you are willing to invest in before you can actually invest. This will happen know the project better, and to eliminate all the doubts you may have. What I usually do is to invest in ICOs since I know that I am buying at a very low price and possibly sell at a higher price. The most promising ICO for me now its DIMCOIN, invested a lot in this ICO.

So basically you are saying that ICO is the best investment but i disagree with you opinion and the reason is that you never know that ico in which you are going to invest will be a successful venture. And also their are some ico which are scam so identification of best potential ico is very difficult at this particular time. And yes if you invest in the right ico the margin of profit increase.

Any altcoins that on the top 20 list on the coinmarketcap is worth buying because it has a potential to go up soon for a big value because many investors supporting it but for me the best altcoin to collect is XEM because now its on a low price and have a good project so if you will hold it soon you will earn a huge profit and when you already have 10,000 Xem you can harvest more xems.

Yes I agree, I've started ICO joining since last 8 months and I can say everything is satisfied and profitable, but we have to be selective in choosing ICO, because if we carelessly we lose even scam.

what do you think what altcoin is the best to collect?

It depends on what your target is .. do you want to invest for a long term ? to you want to do day trading ?

Anyway, read about the coin, see if it has potential and interest, read about them on Bitcoin Talk ... check the trading volumes .. there are a lot of things that you can do .

I know some will say that i'm stupid but i still go for ethereum for this question. I maybe not a crypto specialist but if you come to think of it almost all of ico here uses etherium as their platform. Why coz they believe on it's potential in the future. Eth to the moon!

Title: Re: best altcoin to collect?
Post by: BartS on August 01, 2017, 03:20:33 PM
i think etherium , because its the second highest value in cryptocurrency second to bitcoin , and in etherium campaigns have the highest paid campaigns ever , the bounty campaigns such as signature campaign , facebook , twitter and othe campaigns

i think no etherium is too expensive for some people like me who dont have thousand dollar to invest in etherium i would rather choose a low value coins or tokens and hold instead of buying an expensive token like etherium. Well its still depends on the who realy want to invest in the company that was just my opinion.
I do not think the current price should be a huge factor when choosing in which coin to invest, the most important thing is the price the coin may have in the future, if you invest in ETH and you think the price can double then its current price is not as important as the potential profits you may get out of the coin.

I agree with Faiyz abouth eth. Even if price of eth is relativly high there stil huge potential. cos many Ico is on eth and many people hold it i wallet waiting Pos. So Huge amount of eth is out of market.

Investing in an ICO is a risky proposition but people do it because of the great profit margins that investment can give to you but if you do not feel comfortable taking such a risk then you can select some of the top altcoins, all of them are solid projects that will give you profits in the long term.

Yeah I agree with you also as eth is top in the altcoin world so no wonder if this coin will grow its value over time.
Having a higher hash rate and strong support by the community as many trusted it very well and its good circulation of coins in the market. Holding also waves is great for long term holding. Try to get some.

What do you mean "harvest more xems"??

Metal at the moment, has it's alpha within the next two weeks and an actual product so you can probably expect the price to rise pretty soon. Extremely undervalued compared to some higher market cap coins which have no product at all.

Both altcoin have good future. But main thing is that about which altcoin you know better and you trust on it. First go for that one. Because i think everyone suggest that altcoin, about which they know something good and think like that altcoin have good future so first think and search by yourself.

Their are many altcoins with a huge potential of going up from its current price today. But first you need to do some research about the coin you want to hold, look if the coins has its community that support it, its road map, etc. Dont get hype and jump without researching about the coin.

The problem is that just getting altcoins from signature campaigns and bounty campaigns is a very slow way to get altcoins, you are better off studying some of the altcoins you are interested in and then investing a huge amount of money, that way when it goes up, you can get a lot more benefits than the ones you can get with your current holdings.

Have you tried making a research about it? There are lots of kinds of altcoins. It will be better if you'll read about different altcoins since you are talking about investment, which involves money. Also do observe which alt coin has the biggest community. Bitcoin remained the no.1 crytocurrency because of its large community. Consider also the demand and value stability, since you are referring to future, these factors may help you decide which alt coin to invest with.

Eth and BTC are proved that these 2 coins are going to rule digital currency world in the future. so investing on these two coins is worth for a long time. But if you are looking for day trading or short time trading better go for new coins like litecoin, BTC, Waves, etc. these coins are worth to buy for short time profit. If you keep these coins for a long time you can earn more.

i believe if the dev and the team is not serious to maintain the coins and there are no support from the community, the most altcoin will be dissapear. but i am sure that there is many new altcoin will be launch later and the lost altcoin will be replace with the new one. it is hard to see if altcoin to be disappear because altcoin have its own destiny in crypto currency and will stay with bitcoin and walk together in crypto currency world.

for long term coins collected, i already have eth, etc, dogecoin, nxt, and many more in my wallet and i prefer to save it in my own wallet and not in exchanges because its too dangerous to save in that place as we don't have full control of our coins.

NEO Medium/Low Risk for the next couple of months. Will rise big time when ICO's begin to start on the NEO platform.
IF u want Higher risk and thus more profit you should keep an eye on CoinDash (CDT). They are cheap and still on small exchanges but outperforming other coins on volume. This one will make you massive profit. Do your research on them. Great Team, good project and big community.

Dude, go easy on the spamming. People will be turned off if there is an excessive effort to pump the coin quoting arbitrary prices and arbitrary profits. You have been posting the same message in almost every altcoin thread!

Waves would really rock us out specially when the smart contracts would be implemented already but we wont know on when it would happen and might be this year and regards to that for sure price would be mainly affected since this kind of feature will really be a great contribution on waves project. There are lots of coins to choose from and i wouldnt still leave behind on ETH because i do really see this coin have do future and the competition on this field is high.

You gotta try NEO, WAVES, DASH i don't know the others but you just have to collect them now and wait for the price to get pump. This is a long term investment i'm talking about if you wanna earn a good profit from collecting on it. You just got to look at the blockfolio so you won't miss out the chance to sell them whether you like it or not.  ;)

Actually Waves is good altcoin and their project very promising, they understand the problem about trading on cryptocurrency world and the demand of many trader want have decentralization exchange.

Hello Guys!

Anyone of you familiar with Pepecoin, https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/memetic/?

Im always looking for small coins with big potential (currency increase of 10X minimum) and Pepecoin seems interesting.

Most important things i do before i invest is to check the site/social media/technology.

Website:
Seems kinda new, week ago i couldnt find a website. Seems to me they are very active at the moment. www.Pepecoinproject.com

Social Media:
I see a lot of post on Twitter (https://twitter.com/pepecoins) and there Telegram group is very active (https://t.me/pepecoins).

Technology:
3 Days ago a new Product of Pepecoin went live, its an Decentralized Exchange for assets. Also the devs are very active in the Telegram group and open for ideas and feedback.

Together i have a good feeling about this, they rank 325 on the Coinmarketcap list and if analyze the currencies between spot 200 and 400 they much more done then the other currencies. I have a feeling they didn't much on Marketing and because of that i want to invest before the mass know about it.

The volume on the Exchanges is for now very low, (https://bittrex.com/market/?marketName=BTC-MEME), and i think if a whale comes by the coin will go 400-500% on the first day.

I think its possible, its now just are your investing in, they have a great product and planning to build more own their Blockchain.

Hope some here can tell me more about it, don't want to miss anything before i invest in Pepecoin.

I do think you should do a bit of research to find out if you're doing a good investment.
What makes a project good? I guess it should be really clear that the inner business economy makes sense.
How does the project generate it's money and provide it's value

I think the best altcoin right now to collect are ethereum and bitcoin cause ethereum nowadays are easy to earn and also the transaction are getting . Bitcoin is also the best coin to collect although its not that easy to earn it has higher value better than ethereum but its based on the convertion of the altcoin.

ZenCash: A clone from Zcash and I don't see any interesting point make me want invest to this coin, don't like Zcoin have MTP and improve bugs from Zcash.
Litecoin: A clone from Bitcoin (like zencash too). However some people tell this coin is supporter of Bitcoin and is silver if Bitcoin is gold. So in short time litecoin can increasing.

As far as unknown type coins . . I'd say XtraBytes.  Rebrand.  Testnet of nodes.  Smart contract platform with modules that can be written in most programming languages.  It is still way under the radar.  No ICO.  No inflation.  That means it cannot be mined.  Very interesting.

The other for me is IOC. .DIONS was delayed yet again, but if the tech is delivered . . watch out.

Choose from among the top 50 coins. Those who have real world uses. These coins will definitely be worth x100 in at least 5 years. That's half a decade, mate. I am sure everything will be very high by that time. You can have Waves, ETC, ETH, ADX, and Ripple. Add some more coins if you are targeting a bigger investment.

Regarding to OP question, at the moment i am collecting more waves and zcash as i can, and also 0x coins that are around $0.35 each one. Some people predict that it price will be more than $ 1 at the end of the year, so i would take that ride.

perhaps Ethereum still has chance as the best altcoin and deserves to be bitcoin companion in the crypto market, though currently growing some new coins that seem to have good progress.
But the old coin (ETH) is still stay at good price. And I think it is appropriate for future investment.

Ripple is a terrible idea, its only good for traders due to extreme volatility. All the things people say about it to hype it up like banks buying it up are simply untrue. The reality is that sooner or later people will realize and it will drop faster than you can say ripple.

I think altcoin does not really have the potential to grow because this altcoin brings a lot of inflation in the financial market, if ripple does not improve then surely this altcoin will be forgotten.

Miners are mining ETC more because it brings in more profit in the short term. Classic ETC is also valuable. You invest in these coins, you will earn high profits after 3 years.

I know this is an old thread, but I think it is quite interesting to see the recommendations over time and see how they have gone. If the OP would have bought some Ethereum in 2015 he would have done quite well by now...

For someone coming in today and willing to hold for 5 years I would have to suggest Stratis. Sure, it will take some time gain moment, but in 5 years the commercial blockchain sector will be huge and Stratis have a fantastic platform to handle this growth and help these companies achieve their objectives. Stratis is also fairly cheap today (in my view and compares to even a few weeks ago).

That is the question of the million.

true,

And even if someone guess, maybe that coin will disappear soon.. no one knows
I think it's a good idea to collect altcoin ethereum, :)
because the ethereum will be on the moon and the price will soar in 2018

ethereum is the best choice to collect because ethereum has a good place in the market and also a stable price. maybe ethereum will be the second coin under bitcoin.

perhaps Ethereum still has chance as the best altcoin and deserves to be bitcoin companion in the crypto market, though currently growing some new coins that seem to have good progress.
But the old coin (ETH) is still stay at good price. And I think it is appropriate for future investment.
It's good to see that were the same thinking, I'm looking forward to ethereum because this altcoins had seen of incredible potential to adopt in different situation. In addition I also believe to the ability of bitcoin cash, waves and ark I think this altcoins have a good future.

Ethereum: Had 40x growth rate over the last two years. Allows to build fully-functional applications on blockchain without middlemen. Extremely promising currency, solid team (take a look at what Vitalik Buterin is doing right now). #2 crypto right now — but still 1/10 of the Bitcoin value.

Monero: Anonymous / private Bitcoin. Now, you may think, “What are you talking about, the BTC is anonymous already?” — which is a very unfortunate albeit popular misconception. All BTC transactions can be seen by the public. For example, by giving out your wallet address to someone, the person is able to see all the payments you’ve received and sent. The black market (drug dealers and weapon manufacturers) created a solution for this: basically a software that mixes your coins with other coins. Nevertheless, the software needs to be trusted and may not work correctly.

Factom: A blockchain-based system that’s optimized to store millions of realtime records with a single hash. Useful for all kinds of business apps. Runs on top of Bitcoin.

Counterparty: A simple description of it may sound like an “Ethereum competitor backed by Bitcoin blockchain”.

Siacoin: Distributed data storage. An alternative to Box, Google Drive. The big corporations would not have any access to your data in this point.

Lisk: A JavaScript-based Ethereum competitor that aims to make the deployment and development easy. Interesting solution for an internet of things device from a simplicity perspective.

Dent  you can buy and keep it's really low value now compare to its potentiality you can find it in hitbtc  and also lbtc in yobit exchange its recently done with hard fork price constantly increasing and also look into skincoin it may alternative currency in gaming industry.

I also see that dent has a pretty good potential in the future. because indeed they are stretcher or the idea in it is very profitable and provide many benefits for everyone, just waiting for the right time then everything will turn into extraordinary. But indeed an investment in our ICO project must be ready in the face of some possibilities, patience is the key to the advantages of following the ICO Investment (Project). Because everything will definitely change well.

For me it is going to be ethereum because look at their price. They have been successful in this couple of years and I know that they will continue to grow in the future. Me personally I also have ethereum in my wallet, I'm still holdong it and I'm not planning to sell that yet because I'm hoping to get much more profit that I will today if I sell it already. Knowing that they are the most expensive altcoins inthis business they will be a bitcoins protege, I see a lot of potential to it and it is also easy to access. I like them so I'm advising them to you buddy.

Right now it's TAAS seems to be the one with good potential. It keeps fluctuating, but the value it holds is quite high and it provides dividend for the users holding it, which seems to provide more trust over the asset compared to several other assets that exist regularly.

first you buy a pizza for 10,000 btc, but not now .. you can buy a lot of pizza with 1 btc only. it is very likely because bitcoin prices on this day reach the highest point. immediately buy bitcoin and wait for fly bitcoin prices. for a good coin for me eth because like bitcoin the price is fluctuating and makes me gain profit. although votality is not as bitxoin but this coin is also popular

In my opinion, one of the really promising Altcoins to collect is Stratis platform, which is actually developed to fulfill the objectives of business and service providers that are in need of C# blockchain applications to be developed, tested and used on the basis of the .Net framework. Considering the growing popularity of IT field nowadays, the demand for such platform may be really competitive.

No advertising here, just my opinion  ;)

There are many best altcoin to collect and hold for long period of time but the profit is not promised because only bitcoin is one coin which is better in crypto currency world. And you can try to invest in ICO's who offering cheap amount on their presale and sure you can generate profit if they rich their market cup.

Start collecting Ethereum and Litecoins now. These two coins are the top 2 and 3, respectively, when it comes to its value (next to bitcoin). Litecoin, as of now, has found its value dipping, but it won't take for so long, I believe. On the other hand, ethereum's value is non-stop on rising. And I think, ethereum is the coin, other than bitcoin, that has already a strong foundation, and could still make its value go BOOM!

now there are many options for a good altcoin collection that you can choose. I advise you to choose Etehereum, monero and and Litecoin. the three coins have good prospects in the future.
yes i think so. Litecoin is undervalued, it is close to bitcoin so the price must be at least like ethereum. Both ethereum and monero have special features, and many coins out there also have it. want to play safe just invest in top 3-5 coins

Ethereum and litecoin are in my lists. These are the coins which I hold for a long term as I believe this is profitable.

there are too many options of good coins you can choose. I advise you to choose from different groups of them, but all with a good reputation and promising future, like Eth and Artoken or btc and Spectiv.

AUC (Auctus.org (http://Auctus.org)) is the one i'm following right now. They jus announced integration with 0x protocol and migrating to rocket platform together with Aragon, OmiseGO, Golem and others. Definitely worth a look.

I think Ethereum is still the best coin for now as a short-term or long-term investment, because Ethereum's popularity in the crypto market is no doubt, certainly many traders are using Ethereum for their trade transactions.

Ripple are very promising coins. She has already brought me a lot of profit. But I am sure that in the future it will become even more expensive and more popular

Lightcoin is another worthy challenger, which inevitably falls into the list of the most interesting crypto-currencies in the world. Despite the fact that Lightcoin appeared only two years after Bitcoin, it is very popular and in demand. In 2011, the issue of creating its own crypto currency was occupied by Charlie Lee, who managed to tie the price of new money to the cost of silver.
In the new system, new production parameters were used, the speed of transactions increased, and the level of security increased. With the advent of Laitokoni, users with powerful PCs no longer benefit from other network users

That is a great decision you have, mate. The use of crypto has just begun so there is probably a still bigger market and potential users out there. Crypto or digital currencies are slowly gaining the  mainstream and the limelight in the world of finance. Perhaps ETH, Waves, Ripple, Strat are some of the coins that will grow really big in value in the future.

Nothing is impossible. 5 years ago, No one believes that Bitcoin will be $6000 right now. So, you could choose an airdrop you feel good and receive their coins. Maybe 5 next years, you are as rich as Billgate! lol.  :D

Waves

I agree. They provide the best platform for truly decentralized exchange; easy for use even for newbies (unlike other decentralized exchanges). Also, it is very underpriced at the moment, so I think it's a good investment right now...

You will be confused which airdrop to choose because there are too many airdrops now, Viuly project changed their distribution model from ICO to airdrop, some ICOs airdropped a small portion of their tokens, but some airdrops do not deserve to spend even two minutes on registration, because you know they are scam.

Investing in altcoins and holding onto them long term for a great return on investment is definitely a great way to make some money. Some ICOs even have great coin appreciations in short periods of time. Take a look at Propthereum.io. They are an upcoming ICO and are expecting a coin appreciation of 1566% within a short period of time.

I would suggest Waves and Electroneum.
I'd invest in waves as well, there is not that many investors that could state the same. The coin is a little too old to have a pleasing value.
