Where do you get the source for this prediction? Tell me the reason for the coming increase.

$1,000 before 2016 now there is a big increase, I would guess more $500 if it were to be rising anywhere significant but $1,000 is a bit too optimistic me thinks.

Way too optimistic. After 2016 it'll have a chance of rising up to $1000 during Spring and hopefully then we can see some change. I don't see any factors currently that would make it rise to $1000 in these next 5 weeks. $400 may be possible if there is enough hype, but definitely not $1000

I find that extremely unlikely, we have holidays before 2016 which is spending period for many people worldwide. The selling pressure naturally doesn't allow price rallies to take place.

Buying at $325 is not bad. People around here seem to be excited for black friday but I got my doubts about it. I don't think anything will drastically change.

U are totally right. Things will not change drastically. This is very optimistic speculation, but guy didn't tell us where he got this information. I expect it will rise a bit, but on 1000 for less then month sounds crazy, this has to be some really good pump, and maybe this guy have some info from big players directly.

I do not get why the price would 'increase drastically' this coming black friday and cyber monday. Shouldn't it be predicted to go down since people would cash out to shop around?

Prediction for so much price decrease fails. Above 310 really has great support.

One factor I see is the upcoming halving. Even people want to cashout this upcoming season, they don't want to miss the action in btc rally so I think majority is holding and minimizing their expectation for lower price target to execute their buy action.

I would like your numbers, but i think there very fast growing. I don't expect that prices increase more than 60$ in only one week. And for  2016 previsions i think that are very irreal almost look middle 2016 and we have to see how halving will affect to bitcoin prices.

The price has become in decline since 2 weeks. Now it is in the 320 area, but last week it was 330 area.

Before the end of the year i expect it to be around 350 USD or maybe even more.

I want to see from where you get this information?
Otherwise I only see the price these days fluctuating between 320-330$.

I hope you didn't come up with this after reading another similar thread on this section and based your findings on that as it's highly unlikely to go anywhere near $1000 before 2016 specially with the current demand, probably $50 increase at maximum and also a decline towards entering 2016 but overall staying on the $350 mark, at least for the next month or so.

Steep increases in general end with big correction as traders will take profits.

The price came down from recent pump, which was almost 100% price rise. So the recent price of $330 is a good correction from the $500 price tag. It is preparing for the next stage price rise.

We can keep hope to touch $400 at any time just need to little push for next bubble and this time it will be more easy to get this price.

Being optimistic is good but being realistic is better in my opinion , this is no sense .
There is no way price will reach 1000$ (at least not before 2016 , that's for sure) . We need at least to wait till halving block reward to see such price increase . 400$  shouldn't be that hard though .

They have tried to push the price of Bitcoin back to the sub 300 level and have failed because people see a clear steal at around the low 300's area, which indicate a very solid floor on this range, therefore further increase in price soon is not far fetched, I will kepep my eyes open for any uptrends in the next month.

It went below $300 very briefly. But after that every attempt to get the price below $300 was not successful. I really hope the current price level will hold till the next price advance.

I wouldn't protest really, though looking at more shorter term I think tenfold increase shortly before/after upcoming halving is a safe bet - so I think we are looking at least at 3500 USD per coin by next fall. All based on past events.

It's normal. People have invested in Bitcoin with whatever amount they can afford. They are looking for a return on their investment as soon as possible. They hope to wake up and see the price went up $50. Instead, they wake up and see the price didn't move  :D

The movement seems to be more like.. sideways rather than a pump. Who knows, maybe in the last weeks of this year we'll see such a huge bump in price? All I know is that in mid-December, a conference regarding block size would take place.We'll see how would that affect the price.

Even the last big rally, it has no evidence back when the price is 280 range but it happen. This kind of thread is up to the user here if they will believe or not. If your analyzation contradicts what OP said then leave it up and stick with your current views.

If the retailer can hold the bitcoin for a few days, it will be good for bitcoin. However, the bitcoin price is too volatile. The retailers cannot take the risk.

unless a buyers chain will start, which mean that for every buyers more buyers will kick in  and increase always the price after the resellers dumping

also don't look at the market simply by selling and buying, because you should also take in consideration the price the new buyers are willing to enter

for example if the second buyers buy at +$1 then the retailers will dump at +1$, then another buyers buy at +2$ and so on, therefore for every new buyers the pirce will increase by a tiny % until it get enourmous, there is no real sum zero

High bitcoin price is not necessarily always good thing. A lower price a better and more affordable price for people to start with bitcoin.
Especially now when bitcoin has had more dirt thrown on it, mostly from the imbeciles from mainstream media and private companies.
With bitcoin lower price more people will see it as an opportunity to buy.

This is a completely wrong approach. Nobody says you have to own a full Bitcoin. It doesn't matter if it's worth $500 or $5000 since you have fractions like mBTC.

Higher prices are most necessary thing until bitcoin goes to main stream. Only higher prices attract more users into bitcoin ecosystem. We need more miners to secure bitcoin network so higher prices only will aid mining costs. Until all the bitcoins will be mined out we can expect drastic price appreciations of bitcoin.

Yes. We can use bitcoin even it hit one million dollars for the same purpose of transacting money or using bitcoin just like money. But value appreciation is more important for bitcoin right now to make bitcoin mining process to be profitable. More miners will keep bitcoin network more securely.

Price pumping again now again it touched 335$ after a week lagging at 227$ , i wish the price will touch 350$ and will dance here and there for 1-2 days .

The game just begin, i am happy to see how the price is increasing for these 2 days, i checked the chart and seems that there is a pump of total of 13 dollars which is pretty good for starting, hope it will reach $400 by the end of the year.

I was told that the price will skyrocket closer to halving happening. Idk if thats true or not but if others believe this as well i would suggest holding all btc for the big pump n dump coming soon

Told by whom? Your chrystal ball? The price will most likely rise but it might happen at any time between now and after the reward halving. And this means it might happen now, to a lesser or higher degree. BTC is not entirely a pump and dump coin, the next price increase will define a new low way higher than what we see today.

Well, it´s rather obvious that if the market figures that the halving will result in a higher price then it will start pricing it in before it happens. Markets always try to be ahead of the curve.

As long as we don't have a fundamental catalyst price is gonna bounce around with no new ATH. $400 could be hit but dumps will come.

the only way for us to see a new ath is that the block halving must happen. before that it's not possible from a realistic point of view.

It looks like it made 350$ the new base, that's positive. Now if we want to see 400$ again we need bigger buy support and break 370$.

Actually based on the current volumes, I see the stable support at 330-340. If this stays for a week then suddenly back @ 320 or less than, expect another kickback at that range (330-340) again in just a few days.

I agree that there is no need for another topic of that kind in the speculation section, but that is actually its specific for a longer while already. Everyday we have two or three new topics either bullish or bearish about the next price target and why you should buy/sell right now.
Well, I don't see much reason why the price shouldn't revisit $400 before the year end, as we: (1) have established new side range at around $350 and (2) there is still some volatility in price. But having said that, I don't see a stable rise above $400, only a short move, as there are not many fundamental events to support it.

With Bitcoin everything is possible. Right now people don't think we'll see the $500 price level in 2015 anymore. I can tell you that these people will come back on what they say once the price goes over $400. After going over $400 a lot threads with $500 price predictions for this year will show up.

The next pump is already happening. From 320 to 366.

End of this week 400 seems to be very likely to me. Maybe even 420 if we are lucky.

^ Stupiest thing I ever read. Bud, the block halving will happen, no matter what, whether you want it or not. Most people are making a mistake of equating "halfing" with 50% cut in bitcoins. It's not the same thing. We've already mined around 80% of ALL bitcoins. The drop from 25 coins per 10 minutes to 12.5 coins per 10 minutes is just a drop in the proverbial bucket. It won't matter a whole lot. Sure, price will rise due to "halfing" but it won't be too much and it will die off rather quickly.

It's the 7th day and price is only $20 away from $400 right now. If you guess that right it will be exciting to watch it goes to $1000 in December. :)

Well, think of it another way. Over the last year the bitcoin economy has absorbed 3500 new coins PER DAY. Avg $250/btc. Sooo, with the halving one should expect at least $500 avg - with, of course, wild fluctuations. That's if bitcoin has the same demand for it's uses. Capice?

As i Juas say, it's very important that stay over 400$ for at least 1 or 2 week to consolidate.

don't worry it will fall, in not too distant future. I believe we are now still in the sideways trend, around $350. With some volatility that means plus minus $50, which is exactly what we are seeing now. I don't expect the price to go up that easily again, as  it did three weeks ago.

In vice versa, many still buying so the rate of dumps and pumps are not that have a larger margin so the price will still play at the current range or near of that. Look at the today's volume and you will know what I mean.

I won't be supprised if we see $400 for a short while during the current "looks like a pump and dump move", but i'd not count on it as a solid price before the halfing.
There is NO news offering fundimental support at the current price level, as opposed to the many announced "going to tighten regulations" announcements in the last couple weeks (though the REAL regulations probably won't happen for months, governments tend to move SLOWLY after all).

We are very close to reaching $400 we're only about $20 or so away. Reaching $400 is as realistic as it gets, maybe $500 next month but I really don't think we'll reach $1000 this year.

Even CoinDesk has reported that trading has hit an all-time high this week. We may see more movements, and probably, this is speculatory in nature, a result of the leverage trading offered by exchanges. I can't see the Black Friday weekend solely causing this.

i also have the feeling we may reach $400 in the comming weeks. the price is holding very well above the $350 price level. i really hope if we go over $400 that we'll also have a stable period at around $420-$440. it was the same when the price was at $220-$240 and also when it was $320-$340.

This second block size increase conference in Hong Kong is this weekend! If we would just have some good news from there about the block size increase and the reached consensus, I am sure we would launch this baby into stratosphere!

They mostly buy their coins and then announce their pump. People who believe that will buy and cause the price to go up. The "pumpers" don't do much beside counting profits and dumping down the price.

It is January 2016 now. The Big pump has reached its goal, at least for now. The price is $455 at present.

Is that a dumping? That is a normal price action. The bitcoin price is very volatile as there are not many market participants.

Definitely not lower than $400. The support at that level is too strong and I am fairly sure the whale traders have no intention to dump the price a single penny under $400. Every price above $400 is possible.

Yeah it's like a little dump looking in price rate. But as you said it will get increase gradually. Due to halving price is little zigzag in the chart so don't worry about it. Sure soon it reach good end of this month itself. :)

The bitcoin is still trading within a range. There is no break up or break down. I think it is waiting for news.

The current bitcoin market price is below $400. There is a little bit of dumps going on in the market now.

The market needs time to consolidate after the Hearn article.  The price action was also being driven in part by steep declines in oil prices and equity markets.  Risk tolerance has been low over the past month, and the Hearn article came in the midst of that risk aversion.

If/when risk seeking behavior resumes, I expect the price of BTC to rise significantly. 

OP had part of it right--we just didn't see $1000 before 2016.  Looks like btc is a wee bit stagnant right now, hovering at $380.  Will watch it as always and hope it breaks out of $400.

The only news that might possibly make the price go up is when there is a solution to the block size debate. Other than that there isn't much news that may have a positive short term impact on the price.

I think this week the big pump will be start again.. just wait this week before end of this month..

Yes I doubt the $1k price because as prices reach around 700-800 most will start to sell to take their profits. Once people start to notice the sellers, they might be afraid that the downward price might hit exchange so they will sell as well hindering further price increase.

How do you know the people that bought at $500 are waiting for the price to reach $400 and then exit after that? It doesn't make sense as we still have the block halving ahead of us. The fake volumes on Chinese exchanges are not taken too serious nowadays. People know their volume is probably 3 to 4x lower if you get rid of the fake volume and just keep the legit volume.

After reading the thread I remembered this extreme rise that happen in November, which I believe it was because of the federal auction for 44000btc , the price went up in a dramatic way. But it fall to fast again to 300 level

we need another pump to gain even more increase in the price, it would let people to feel more confident while buying even more bitcoins what means that the interest would get bigger and bigger

Well i think the price will rise again not now but this february the price should increase again above 500.

Never underestimate the Chinese pumpers. OKCoin and Huobi are up to something this year, I am sure of that. Just have patience. :)

It actually never fell to $300. The lowest that it dropped was $370 so I don't know what you are talking about.

Good to see the value crossing 400$ and now its not pumping that high. I think it is growing with small Percentage like 5-8% for every 3 or 4 days. At times it also going down the rate than expected. So still now the big pump has not started

I also don't think it to reach 1k by this july or even by the end of this year. But we can't predict it or can't say it will not happen if we remember the last year november pump (price doubled).

For now let's take that speculation for real. No doubt chances are high since we really don't know what halving will bring us.

Earlier during the past week when the price had a sudden jump to a maximum of 424$ every one were very happy and thought the big pumping has begun. But it hasn't last for a long time. Soon the price has come down to the border of 400$ and now the price is getting settled between 385$ and 395$. So soon can experience the settled price in $400

The bitcoin price has settled between $360-$380 now. It is quite a big drop from the previous $400 range.

i have a good news today because since yesterday the price rise up and less than $3 almost be reach to $400 and i hope the price will back to $400 tomorrow

as much as i love to see a big jump in bitcoin price so i can profit from the difference and then buy back in, i am always more happy to see a steady slow price rise since that price would stick around and not fall back again.

Even if there is no big news, it will drift up to $400.

Nothing strange that's the trust users had as well as the nature of the technology. A lot said it won't rise but most stood behind bitcoin believing it would rise which now resulted in crossing a long term border of $400

Because of ethereum price increases. It means if ethereum still increasing more investors will dump their ethereum and exchange it into bitcoin.. that's why the price of bitcoin still increasing..

It looks like we are now testing the crucial part of the resistance at around $415. It is important for the mid-term price evolution, whether we pass this test nicely, or we just have a false breakout and then go down quickly.

The price is above$400 today, but not sure how long it will be there, will it rise or fall back to below $400 again, but this fluctuation will always follow bitcoin, so can afford to wait till halving and will sell at a right time.

The price is now indeed stable, but there are many people that is waiting for a good price increase so they can have some good profit later in the future and that will be nice for them if they have some more money later.

Only the bad thing of Bitcoin is that you never will know what the value will be in the future of Bitcoin and that is the problem.

It already past the $400 barrier. This is a good thing because it shows that Bitcoin is not dead. This will attract people again to start and use and invest in Bitcoin.

Stability is good, but if the price is found stable for a long time truly more users hesitate to involve in trading as small fluctuations won't profit high for bitcoin traders.

The price is around $435 now. So if you are not confident about the bitcoin, it is a good price to sell.

The halving effect on the price may very well end when it's getting near the $500 level these months. After that the price must go up due to natural growth. If not, the price will come back down again as result.

i disagree, the natural growth as you put it is this slow rise towards the $500 and there is only $60 left to get there.

Now this is an exciting time to be into bitcoin because we have not seen a steady growth like this in ages. Since it usually just is a rapid spike up in price then you know it will fall back down in a couple of hours to where it was to begin with.

I think it might take even longer than that to finally get to $1200, I think it is more than likely going to be something like mid 2018 before we hit values like that, unless the markets really start surging and someone really fucks up the economy.

When the price drops 20% in a day, it is very normal for the bitcoin. When it rises 20% in a day, I am not too excited either.

$2000 is just 3 times of present value. It might be not overvalued. When the price is $10,000, it is time to sell.

When it is in 2017, $2000 is not overvalued. When in 2020, $10000 is the reasonable price for that year.

This can really be a nightmare, the current price is $640. Within 4 years it is too hard to touch the price $10k. If 2017 hits $1000 then by 2020 the maximum price of bitcoin can be $3000.

Why a nightmare? No one in his right mind expects the price to go up all the way to $10,000 in a matter of 4 years.

It's not only unrealistic, but also beyond insane to be honest.

The most we can realistically expect by 2020 is the price to reach $2000 at most. And even that is quite uncertain.

This is an old thread. I don't know why people insist in answering a question that has lost validity because of the great variation in the current bitcoin conditions and value. But this is just a natural consequence of newbies looking for increase their post count.
