Update (5-30-2k16) : bitcoin just hit 525$ , Just hope that no massive dump will happen . and the price keeps increasing . What do you guys think we will see more increase in price till Halving happen ?

If we breach 500 and hold there is a good chance we hit ATH next year.

If bitcoin can do this by end of this year, than atleast we may hit last time ath of 1k by early next year. I don't think we will see new ath on next year also, there are lots of panic sellers out there.

500$ is so close it's no longer something that you need to hold fingers crossed for. Anyways, i don't plan to sell even if it reaches that price by xmass.
There is just too much good going on, that the price should at the least maintain this price level, so why sell, makes no sense to me.

Well people is now saying that it will reach 500 dollar, I would like to wonder when that doesn't happen and it goes low.
People will just panic. For me it will reach, but I think it will go back to 450 dollars.

$500 is pretty near and within two weeks i think that it will be possible if this trend of increasing will go on.

Very, very, very likely I'd say. Currently already $460, recovering very well from that $470 to $420 fall earlier.

It can be even more at the end of December, perhaps $520 or even $530.

I definitely believe the price to be $500 this month. Actually maybe even this week if the trend continues like this. It is not impossible and I wouldn't even be surprised.

I'm convinced this is just a bubble, like every time this year. We've got several thresholds to be sure that the price will fall to previous levels once again.

i don't think this is a bubble. it could be when the price in january reaches $1000 and $2000 in juli. then i would somewhat understand if you think it's a bubble. at this point it's purely the demand that is driving the bitcoin price higher.

I think it's evident that the market just doesn't won't let the price go bear 500$, profit taking is too strong at this point after all these months of trading below today's levels.

real selling will come in may and june next year just before halving or even better buying will massively start and then who know what will happen

The price could go higher to such as $500. But that is nothing to do with Christmas. There is no Christmas in China.

Because China is the only buying force around the world? USA and Europe are still big in bitcoin and should not be disregarded..
Maybe China is putting a lot in it, but if the Western countries start pumping in more volume, the effect will be similar.

Yes, bitcoin is very close to this, I think that if a little pump and dump happens bitcoin can go up to at least $550. That will be a small pump though.
Who knows, maybe we'll all wake up on Christmas day and find a nice surprise.

If not I am still happy that bitcoin is kinda high for now. We will see what well happen. I think Santa will give me 100BTC in my wallet. :P

There's a big chance this will happen, looking at the price at the moment it's still slowly going up.

With a 500 price it's logic we can expect another increase before the halving. But a lot can and will happen. Let's get to 500 first,

It's currently $455 and still it can rise before halving. Hope by the end of 2015, we can reach $500-$550 as there is a huge demand for the currency since 2 months and even non bitcoin people coming forward to invest in this currency.

I very much hope so. It is doable if there aren't significant dumps as soon as we are nearing the $500 price level. If we can manage to support the price long enough, then $500 is easy.

I would say it is clear now that by the end of this December Bitcoin will reach 500 $ for sure.The current price is very stable and it seems it is new bottom of the price for Bitcoin and from here price will just go straight up .

I think we can see price before the end of this year even between 550-600 $.I dont agree with those who say this is bubble.i will say this is real start of price to reach where it should be.Halving is approaching and there will be a continuous rise in the price through out this period with small corrections.

i agree that there is too much selling pressure in the price at this point which makes it extra hard to reach the $500 price level. but the people that are selling can't do it endlessly. they will at some point run out of coins that they can sell. after that the price will break through $500 easily. it's just a matter of around a week.

Exactly, this is exactly what happened in late 2012. After being down for so long, it took the price a while to get back through $20 because of all the sellers who bought in at the $5 range for so long. However at some point that selling was exhausted and then the price was able to launch. We are sting the same thing here, some of the accumulation from the long $200 period is slowly being sold which holds the rally down, but this too will exhaust itself. 

Current price is truly stable. We will just have to wait and see which direction it moves in.
If there is a break out, crossing $500 will be easy.
I am not sure if we can achieve it in the 13 days remaining though.  :)

Even though the price dropped from $470 to $430, I still think there is chance for the price to rise to $500 in December.

At the time of posting this it actually looks like it's slowly rising again,  maybe someone was just testing the buying support.  Btc terms is not a massive drop yet.  If anything it held not too bad.

You are half right. Like many people here, I also look for testing of $500 levels within this December. But looking for lower price to buy again may not happening for ever as bitcoin is moving slow and steadily towards making a new higher prices.

I don't think we will see the price at $500 while there are just 3 days left before it's Christmas. I think we will see $500 again in January. Not before that.

We have 9 days until the end of December. It will take $70 to reach $500. It is quite difficult. But the price will be over $500 next year.

It is quite unlikely right now. If you bought above $450, then you may wait a longer bit to make this trade profitable. I believe we go a bit lower first, and then, depending on the reaction we may rebound.

i doubt that it is a possible thing to do right now as the price of bitcoin is not growing any more i believe that the price will start growing again only after we go to the next year the only good thing about the price is that it is not going down right now we just need to wait in my opinion

True that boat has sailed now. I was hoping for a revival too, but after the weekend it was made clear to me we will not see a 500 USD price anymore.

I believe this is still possible, we got a couple of days left before the year ends. If a pump happens bitcoin is able to reach above $500. If this doesn't happen $400 isn't so bad either to end the year with. I've seen progress into bitcoin in 2015, I believe bitcoin will continue to grow next year.

exactly. there is no point in quick p&d before the year end, as there will be not many people participating in it, due to holidays. It is much reasonable to save the dry powder for the start of 2016.

Don't underestimate the volume and fluctuations, whether the market is looking silent, Xmas is still there to start, and even in November, it was being said that it won't reach $500, but it went above the same, so don't say it won't happen...

Look at the volumes, people are barely trading today. They are enjoying Christmas with their family. There is no reason for the price to go up. Be happy that it isn't going down. The price is holding its level nicely.

Yes I would say $500 by years end because there is still one major shopping day left tomorrow and that should push up the price. Just the people spending would need to use bitcoin for their purchases that's all.
It is only $45 away from that mid-1000 mark and I say it will reach it by December 31th.

I don't think $500 will happen anymore this year. We lost precious ground comming today from around $460 to right now $425. It will cost a week to find our way back to $460, if we don't go down a little bit more. January will be the main target for $500. This year not.

I don’t think so Now stable rise is ongoing. Its falling gradually, If we take 2 weeks before It was 480$ and above But now the Price rate is 420$. Even I hoping People will adapt bitcoin lot in upcoming year and as we expect price will go up.

The proof was in the Christmas pudding. That is over and so is December with only a loss in the last two weeks and nothing to show for it. No to $500 within 4 days that is obvious now.

Stable rise would be $75 in 4 days. Can you see that as a possibility? Even the sales from boxing day didn't even raise it by a dollar from yesterday morning. There is not a possibility of that happening either. Now just need to look towards the new year and the possibility of a steady rise then.

Since not many big online players are accepting these bitcoins so all these sales will not be having much impact on bitcoin prices. Only if any big online shops accepts than many people use bitcoins to shop than it will impact on btc prices. But currently mostly gambling people are actively using bitcoins so they might have already stored sufficient coins for year end gambling by knowing prices may go up during this time. I feel now btc will grow slowly only next year and I don't think this week any big price movements in btc.

The bitcoin price did not reach $500 in December. But I think it will reach $500 in January or February.

I think 2015 is the best year for bitcoin. It is know by more people. Banks are starting to use blockchain technology.

Of course that 2015 was the best year because it is the last year,
But this year will be more interesting because of halving and we expect an increase of users using bitcoin.

The last one was not best because if we check the graph at the time of halving there was no change in price, the bitcoin value was affected after a while, but this time in 2016 i think that will be different :)

The bitcoin price could go much higher than $750 this year. There is news that more pools agree with 2MB blocksize, it will push the price higher.

Can you please share the source of this article where it's written that the price will be pushed up? I have only read bitcoin-based articles which claim that the price is most likely to fall below 400 before halving. But most likely prices will go up to a new high prices as per my speculations.....

This should be a dead thread. We did not see 500$ in december and BTC price is on the way down as we speak. 3000$ will never happen because lots of people bought in above 800$ and they want their money back.

Well I think its not always really smart to hold all your bitcoins for a long time because the bitcoin is never to predict and it can collapse so keep that in mind, also if you never sell your coins you will lose profit in the most investments.

i have no doubts about that the price will go up because of the lower block rewards, but i seriously think the block halving price increase will not be as much as some people may be hoping for. my guess is a $100 increase at most from current price level for the rest of the year.

It's not that realistic at this point to think about prices of $900 and even higher as some people do. My target for this year is the $600 level. I think we will reach $600 and then see the price go down again because of the people that are cashing out their profits.

Most of the time when the price hit such a value it's dumped just a few days later. When we saw 538 yesterday i was very surprised, but like everybody I am happy the price held at 425+.
At this moment the price can either go up to 550 or retreat to 500 again which makes it hard to buy more or start selling.
