It is really going up again, I did not notice that until I saw this post LOL.

Hope it gets up to the 419 euro mark, to sell with good benefits. I have been buying when it was down to 382 eur. (Sorry I trade in BTC/Eur market not in USD).

the reason is, this is the same shit as it was in the 230 era, exactly the same, the price look solid in the same range, it will eventually try to break the 500 mark, like it did with the 300 mark

The bear market has been dead for ages. The current ATH was due to MtGox & their scam fest.

As a result of their demise the price dropped ridiculously low, we're now correcting to somewhere around bitcoin's true value.

We've been on a steady upwards climb with a few corrections for a while now.
The bear market is over & with the halving next summer we'll continue to see the price rise.

All bearish views & comments here are mostly butthurt shorters or bears who sold too early & can't afford to buy back in. I remember seeing dozens of posters selling at 250 after we'd briefly dropped below 200 due to the XT fail.

Exactly. I think it took us 3 attempts to finally break the 300.
It looks like the same will happen with the 500. Maybe in january or february the 2nd attempt to break it will happen.

Yes we had a decent correction in November after shooting up a little too fast and another on Boxing Day, but the bull market continues.

2015 was a year of overall price increase for Bitcoin. 2014 was the only calendar year with a net price decrease in Bitcoin's history.

2015 is the start of long term up run of bitcoin. There will still be pump and dump. But the volatility will be less.

The way i see it is, the more pump and dumps we get the more bitcoin is spread across more people holding less coins, Eventually the whales will have less and less to dump, and all going well will have to buy back in at higher prices.

The Moss adoption will not take place in a single day. So first we need to cross over $500 and then $1000.
But overall we can see the beer market has already got over.
Now we are moving towards long-term $1000 levels, by halving it may reach $5000 to $10000 levels also.

It is likely to see large dump after price reach 500 like before it will be hard to cross over 500 and make 500 as stable buttom.

VC isn't actually retreating from bitcoin investments, it's pouring in on the Blockchain tech.

In recent times bitcoin prices showing very slow and stable increase. Which is ultimately good for long-term higher prices.
I predict $100 increase in every month until upcoming halving. So, by March 2016 you may see $700 levels also.

I think the price will rise soon after newyear not just an effect of halving but if the halving is over it will rise much more than we expected.
But now we see that the price is very stable around 420-440 and i think there is 80% of chance to rise above 450 after newyear end.

I think you overestimate the effect of the halving.. It is not even the biggest halving in bitcoin history, only 1/4 of the initial supply is going to be cut compared to the 1/2 of the first halving.

The number of coins in circulation are not going to decrease suddenly, only new coins will decrease and we don't even know for sure that they are all sold all the time.

Sentiment has never had this much pressure to go forwards, even without the halving of suppply

I can imagine $500 at one of the peaks of the zig-zig movements that markets in general do, in the next several months, but should the day come when a 'real' $1000 comes (as opposed to the MtGox type distortion), that will be a glorious day and achievement.

With new resistence level's it would need a miracle to even surpass 470 dollars..

I really don't see this happening sooner to watch price climbing at 500 $.What I see is stability in price over 400$ which has been for almost a month time.There will be rise in price but after some period .We can see figure of 500 $ somewhere in the end of next month.

We all expect a huge rise in early days of 2016.it is quite possible to see 500 USD/BTC in couple of weeks.There is a rise coming soon to take the BTC to next floor.

I would not mind if price really goes up as you said. I didn't read about bearish trend so far but bitcoin is unpredictable this is more than sure. I expect any price over night for Bitcoin.

The last weeks we have seen quite some spikes but it never went to this high price, best to forget this price now.

We aren't in a bear or bull market. Bitcoin price is stabilize between 400-500$ for a long time. That stability is good for economy, people can spend their coins for shopping. We may see 500$ soon but that doesn't mean we are in bull market.

$500 is is possible by the end of this month or by the end of next month. Its not something impossible.

I seriously believe that we will start February with a price higher than $500. I just hope we can build enough buy support so it can't be dumped down easily. Everything Bitcoin related can change dramatically within 24 hours. What might look bad now, may look very promising tomorrow.

I would say the last dump was due to the Hearn announcement combined with the NYT article pushed by R3 that Bitcoin has failed.
With that happened some whales and good traders now take advantage of the situation.

To tell the right, a few time ago I saw this main posts or threads like with a little nervousness because make me to bring in my mind a my old friend which was a very enthusiast person and makes projects about big things without having any kind of source or possibility to realize those. I discussed always with him after the end the project of the turn (naturally without success) to make him to not wonder castle in air but to come back and to stay with feet on the ground. But him continues again. Then the life separate us but I remember always him when I made a project. Thinking twice before acting in something worrying to make some "stupid" thing. To be back on the "earth" and to make the connection with this main post. There don't exist any kind of data that can argues such amounts given by OP. And will not be maybe never. But again such kind of posts born like the mushrooms after the rain. But now make me smiling. I see those not as predictions but hopes of everyone to see such achievements for bitcoin. Like my friend who wanted to make impossible things without having any kind of possibility. Both cases don't hurt no one. Maybe except the authors themselves if cannot be verified.

I don't think that your suggestion goes right, because even those days of sudden fall it doesn't touched 350$. It may take time to reach 500$. Now its not a time to expect growth to 500$

There is strong buying support below $350. There are many whales waiting to buy at that price. The price will go higher next month.

I have to agree with you that we will be heading down in the near future. We go the 500 and not the 1000 op I would have liked you to have been right! But as usual nope. Btw there is some logic about the price rising roughly double and that was pricing in the future halving early to avoid the dumpers who think it is still to come  ::)

The price is headed for $500. It might not go straight but might have some down curves before it finally hits the price. Majority of speculators are now holding their bitcoin with anticipation of the $500 price.

Nope. The channel is much smaller. The current bands are $350 and $415, established in the early January. We had so far one false breakout to  the upside that didn't change this situation.

Remember that not most of the analytic method don't apply on bitcoin. Bitcoin is far to different from that.
Research tools etc. are depending and watching on trends but bitcoin is mostly manipulated.

500 can be happening altough i feel it won't. It's tried and tested a few times again and again and again the bears won. I am not sure there is even enough money left by the whales to spend on a new pump. Probably not.

I do not think so, even prices jumping towards $500 and then $550 levels also will give you sustaining and stable prices around $500 price levels. Yes, not only the slow and steady movement gives higher prices always.

most of the bitcoins are being traded for ethereum? don't think so. ethereum is being pumped with the same amount of bitcoins since the very beginning. the higher the price is, the more bitcoins are showing up in the buy side of the order book. these coins were already in the pockets of the guys behind the pump. the only difference is that these whales are seeing their coin count increase each day due to greedy people buying into the peak making the whales even richer.

That sucks. Ethereum should grow, but not at the expense of Bitcoin.
We need more money to come into the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

For that we need fundamental developments happening that will help the mass adoption, e.g., agreement on the block size, etc.
All we get instead is talk about halving pump. That won't seduce new many to flow into Bitcoin. At least not that much as we want here in this forum.

Bitcoin will grow no matter how much a certain altcoin is being pumped. As with all altcoins, they will get dumped to the ground at some point. Ethereum is definitely not an exception. New money will be attracted by the volatile nature of Bitcoin. The market takes care of itself nicely.

I know ETH is good but remember it is just an altcoin and like stated it will be dumped eventually.
Something which is possible with bitcoin too, but let's face it. So far we only saw it going back to 200 dollars.

I agree. Due to the network effect (advantage of being first coin in the block) Bitcoin is independent from the other altcoins, and other coins depend on the price of Bitcoin.

That Bitcoin is the strongest cryptocurrency doesn't yet mean its price will be stable. The project is still too young to call for stability, plus the mass adoption is too far away. As long as the main driving force behind price action is the speculation we should expect a lot of volatility.

Some people want to buy altcoin, but there is no altcoin/US dollar market, so they have to buy bitcoin first.

For ETH/USD and LTC/USD there's Bitfinex, Kraken and Poloniex. Poloniex does other USD currency pairs as well.

The price is $451 now. It seems  the price is going here. If it fluctuate around $450, that is good.

Bitcoin will reach that value in the end of the year I think because that can be later in the future higher but you only never if it will happen for sure and that is quite bad.

The halving could be a very good stimulator for the bitcoin price. In a few months, the SegWit will also come out.

The investors will not blindly buy the bitcoin as they did in later 2013. That was a very big bubble and caused a long bear market.

There is no big bubble recently. The price rose 60% in the last 30 days, but it dropped 20% in two days. It is correcting.

If it's gonna hold this for about a week or two, then probably there's another rise that's coming after that. We've seen a significant increase these past few months and IMO it's gonna be the trend at least for a while after the halving.

Some people do not seem to understand, stability is not the friend of BTC. Wild swings in price are healthy and necessary for the long term success of BTC, not slow rises.

This isnt true, theres no one out there that wouldnt invest in bitcoin if you were guaranteed a 5% return every week. thats enormous, The wild swings are what keep people from bitcoin because its not a safe bet. More stability would bring more people into bitcoin. Investors like predictability

In a perfect computer simulation maybe. Do you know of anything that has or does increase in value 5% a week, every week? In real life that does not happen. Wild swings are what attracts people to something new like BTC. It is the lure of making big money quickly. When established in the years ahead, I expect to see monthly steady growth. Right now, ups and downs are what is healthy. It keeps people's hopes alive that they can become rich. The true safe bet right now is that these swings in price are making people big money.

It's different for every group of users. One group prefers the price to show heavy price swings as it allows them to make profit in quite a short time. And the other group prefers the price to remain relatively stable as they are purely interested in the currency aspect of Bitcoin and perhaps even use it as store of wealth. You can't please everyone.

I use the bitcoin as a currency. I earn the bitcoin by mining. Then I use the bitcoin to buy the online goods.

That is a very good cycle for the bitcoin. It helps the circullatioin of the bitcoin and the final adoption.

When many of us use the bitcoin, more people will know about the bitcoin then the price will rise again.

What matters is whether people are using bitcoin, and more than ever, they are. Also compared to the same time a year ago, the average number of daily transactions has more than doubled. A lot of this usage makes the price of bitcoin to rise.

The thing that is going to drive the price now is usage.
We need more sites like Overstock.com to start accepting BTC.
If popular sites start accepting it as a form of payment, the price could jump much higher.

Mining difficulty, the rewarding halving, etc will only drive the price so much.
Keeping an eye on daily transactions is a good measure I had not thought about before.

If they start buying themselves some coins, then yes, it will help the price go up. But if they are just here for the rewards and give-aways like a lot people are nowadays, then what effect will it have on the price? I say next to nothing.

I think it has a minor effect on the value, since it starts to remove some Bitcoin from the overall equation and makes it more scarce to an extent, but I do understand what you mean and chances are it really doesn't mean anything to have people just show up for the free things. Maybe if they start to get more involved they'll begin to buy, but there are never any guarantees of that.

Version 0.13.0 will have the SegWit code inside, it however won't be activated yet. For that we need to have a little bit more patience. I think as soon as it gets activated, that the price will be impacted positively by traders as this will be seen as a massive change in the right direction.

It's just going to take a long time for bitcoin to catch on mainstream. As log as bitcoin can survive and continue to gain in price, I think it will last for a long time. It will take years for everyone to see the potential of bitcoin.

After the Bitfinex hack, I think the bitcoin price will rise slower than expected. So the $700 can happen in October.

there always a bull and bear market ,
you can not expect a last forever market in bearish or in bullish ,
there many factors that affected to the down price trend and up price trend and you must learn it ,
and seems like op did it , they predicted the price of bitcoin will reach $500 as when he posted this thread in early december of 2015 the price of bitcoin are around $350 only!

The biffinex hack did spoil a lot of fun for us holders. What makes me angry is that it has nothing to do or should have nothing to do with the price, since it's just 1 (large exchange).
Now the momentum is gone and i see the price go back to 500 dollar as an clear option now.

I dont think price can go below 500$. The demand and popularity of bitcoin is quite high that will not let the price
dip much.  Bitcoin is now a stable currency.

Yes, the investor confidence should return gradually after the fall of the last month, things should return to normal a little.

The price will trade betweem 575 and 610 for the moment. unless and untill you hear a bad news in the market the price wont drop much from the current price range, if the price breaks the 620 mark it will reach 680 figures pretty soon i guess.

I am not going to invest in many other things related to bitcoin right now.
I am acting like a bear right now so too relate to them too.
That is my strategy now so I can make what I have increase instead of decrease the way they were.

There will always be some bad news to shake the market up, the question becomes whether or not it's a manufactured controversy.

I believe that the market can easily be looking at $620 if China wakes up and starts feeling bullish in the market, and I guess we'll see tomorrow. There might finally be some recovery happening with the value, and this is great news in my opinion.

For the time being, there is no bad news. The Chinese Central Bank is considering issuing a digital currency, that could be a good news.

May be your guess will be right, because i also think that is a time to starting the price of bitcoin, We all know that bitcoin down because of Bitfinex hacked but now i feel some good about bitcoins, may be the within few weeks bitcoin will be pick up the race, and it will one more chance to make profit from bitcoins.   

Why ended for so far i know the price of the bitcoin is around the 600 dollar so go away with your storys that th ebitcoin is around the 500 because i know for sure that is not true.
