I use the bitcoin as a currency. I earn the bitcoin by mining. Then I use the bitcoin to buy the online goods.
That is a very good cycle for the bitcoin. It helps the circullatioin of the bitcoin and the final adoption. When many of us use the bitcoin, more people will know about the bitcoin then the price will rise again. |

I agree. The thing that is going to drive the price now is usage. We need more sites like Overstock.com to start accepting BTC. If popular sites start accepting it as a form of payment, the price could jump much higher. Mining difficulty, the rewarding halving, etc will only drive the price so much. Keeping an eye on daily transactions is a good measure I had not thought about before. |

But if they are just here for the rewards and give-aways like a lot people are nowadays, then what effect will it have on the price? I say next to nothing. |

But if they are just here for the rewards and give-aways like a lot people are nowadays, then what effect will it have on the price? I say next to nothing. I think it has a minor effect on the value, since it starts to remove some Bitcoin from the overall equation and makes it more scarce to an extent, but I do understand what you mean and chances are it really doesn't mean anything to have people just show up for the free things. Maybe if they start to get more involved they'll begin to buy, but there are never any guarantees of that. |

May be it is just only your thinking, give us some detail or proof. I have a thinking and that is because the 2015 end bitcoin suddenly going up, so may in this year also happen. |

For a price to go under 500$ some big disaster need to happen, if you are holding fiat and waiting be my guess!  Go hack some top exchange, bribe US senate to forbid bitcoin, be best Putin friend and call him again on bitcoin holder wide russian hunt... those are you options again to see 500$ or be on the losers side |

It's just going to take a long time for bitcoin to catch on mainstream. As log as bitcoin can survive and continue to gain in price, I think it will last for a long time. It will take years for everyone to see the potential of bitcoin.

I have a thinking and that is because the 2015 end bitcoin suddenly going up, so may in this year also happen. there always a bull and bear market , you can not expect a last forever market in bearish or in bullish , there many factors that affected to the down price trend and up price trend and you must learn it , and seems like op did it , they predicted the price of bitcoin will reach $500 as when he posted this thread in early december of 2015 the price of bitcoin are around $350 only! |

So the $700 can happen in October. The biffinex hack did spoil a lot of fun for us holders. What makes me angry is that it has nothing to do or should have nothing to do with the price, since it's just 1 (large exchange). Now the momentum is gone and i see the price go back to 500 dollar as an clear option now. |

The demand and popularity of bitcoin is quite high that will not let the price dip much. Bitcoin is now a stable currency. |
