With today's news of the Global market crash, I believe chinese investors will start buying up BTC to hedge against the low rate of the Yuan.

bitcoin is going to rise in value with or without a global market crash. i think the investors outside bitcoin won't start with buying bitcoin just because the markets are crashing. for that to happen, they need to know what bitcoin is. if they don't know that it is a great investment, then they will invest their money elsewhere.

I think bitcoin is going up 100% with or without a crash. I think people will buy big time / hold ahead of
halving.

I know not everyone thinks halving will send it way up but I know people will hold to see what happens which will
help bitcoin go up.

It's possible, but nothing has come of it so far. Given my current investments I'd rather it not fall...

There has already been a thread like this. The Chinese may be investing in Bitcoin, but it is not because of the low rate of the Yuan. The Chinese are now getting started with Bitcoin because they are getting smarter. A lot of them are still into mining but some are investing in Bitcoin. This is pretty good for Bitcoin as this means that the demand for it is increasing meaning the price will go higher.

Iam not sure we will reach $800+ at this mont/year,
i think $600 is enough to make bitcoin growing,, 2016 is good momenth to bitcoin up to the moon
but we know at this week some currency get lose

reaching $800 immediately is impossible ya but it will take 1 or 2 years, the maximum we can see raise in 2016 is $550 to $600 range which will be healthy also. If their is any sudden very good moment comes in Bitcoin then we can see sudden raise it may go beyond $600

You know, even though I've got money in the stock market, I looked on at today's mini-crash with a childlike glee.  I love to see stocks get cheap so I can buy.  And I'm definitely glad bitcoin and precious metals did not tank as well. 

I do think btc will go to $800, perhaps soon.  I'm holding until then, see you on the moon.

What makes you believe this to be true considering the increase that occurred in October and the fact that it has been holding rather steady at around $400 since then reaching $800 is a possibility.  But we can also say that it dropping to $100 is also a possibility seeing as the market, like gambling tends to do what it wants when it wants :D

No need of 2 or 3 years. With first quarter of 2016 itself we are going to see, $800 to $1000 price levels. If the global share market get crashed down, we can see those price levels within this January itself. But I prefer to go slow and steady for long term basis.

If the market crashes and things continue to escalate in the middle east, the profits will be flowing from oil and gold.  Bitcoin may or may not be the future, but we are in the present day.  Gold and oil still rule supreme. 

Why wouldn't it be possible? People thought the same in 2013 and than it went boom at the end of the year and exploded to over 1,200.

It might be unlikely to go there in one run this time, but I think 1 or 2 years is quite conservative regarding the latest trends.

If the demand on the Bitcoin rises in i.e China - then we will se the price increase on the coin. Will this happen today, tomorrow or in the next months, nobody knows.

I'll hold my coins no matter what, even if the price reaches $1000 tomorrow. But I am fairly sure that people will shift their attention away from traditional investments to new things. Bitcoin might be part of that. If that happens, then the price will get a huge boost.

its easy for bitcoin to reach such great heights this year in my opinion, bitcoin will get a lot of popularity this year because of the reward halving, therefore people will start buying vast amounts of btc what will bring the price up

Maybe it will be good for the owners of bitcoin but not for the new ones who will have the first contact with bitcoin during this time. The big increase of the price of it (if it will be fast increase of demand from China) will "intimidate' the new ones above mentioned to own some. This new ones are the real increase of demand and important part of the increase of the real power of bitcoin. As for me it will be better a normal increase step by step (as it is verified since the half of November of the previous year).

Not sure if this will happen this year, if Bitcoin continues its rising trend from past years, then we can safely say it can be around $500-600 by the end of 2016. So if it continues that same estructure then $800 can happen somewhere between 2017 and 2018. Of course the halving could have a major impact this year and we can all hope we can see $800 in the upcoming months.

Crash or no crash, I will be holding my bitcoins until 1 btc is at least $1000. I won't be selling before that happens.
So it doesn't really matter to me what happens with any other markets.

Listen I make sure to sell some coins along the way. But not all of us have time to follow all the charts daily.
Buying and holding for the long term is a good strategy

I will buy some bitcoin before the halving. I will then hold my coin for several years before I use it.

The price seems to be pretty stable where it is right now.  I expect sometime soon we're going to drop for a little bit, then head back to these levels or a bit higher as confidence is gained.

Honestly I don't expect we'll be seeing 800+ for quite a while.  Even when the block halving happens, I expect there will be a mini-bubble and then crash, followed by many miners turning off their machines except for the most efficient ones.  I'd guess we'll peak around 650-700 during this time, maaaybe press 800 for a little if we're lucky. 

Using your coins in a spending way is different from selling them on an exchange. I hope you will do both spending and holding. Higher price is an extra motivator to spend.

If Chinese start buying in huge quantities,it can push up bitcoin price beyond 1000 $ this year.Chinese have made huge demand in domain market too and now even 6N.com domains are selling for four-five figures because they consider some numbers lucky similarly if they start buying bitcoins,it's price will also rise because both numeric domains and bitcoins have limited availability

But I believe bitcoin is not solely dependent on Chinese investments alone. It's just a part of total bitcoin investments. The recent economic slow down in China is the one of the reason for huge money flow from them into bitcoin ecosystem.

the price look stable in the first week 2016 but i think it's really difficult to see the price reach to $800 in this month and might be if really true bitcoin price reach to $800 i think it would be happen in the last month 2016

Chinese and chinese exchanger had good effect on bitcoin price just few months ago and it will be not a suprise to see same pumping again before halving.

The pump will begin after the current price drop. The price just dropped to $360 in the last few days.

What you mentioned occurs means its good. Everyone are expecting for the same hike in the value. Looking over from the start of the year it is over the fall and there is no gradual increase. So only the growth can be expected after June but not to the level of 800$

I have full confidence in another pre-halving pump. It will take extra effort now the price has fallen down like $60-$70 in a very short time. Just have patience.

Exactly, patience is the key in Bitcoin. Although I wouldn't count on the pump to the ath due to the halving alone.
Halving is a good excuse, but won't get us beyond $600. We need some more positive developments to go further.

Many people got into Bitcoin in recent weeks as it closed the year with profits and expected the halving will push the price even higher. Sadly they are now in this situation and are actually learning about one of Bitcoin bigger barriers in terms of adoption, price volatility.

I'm sure if they are willing to hold they will get profits by the end of the year, we should close at around $500-600, but not without some turbulence hehe.

I agree that this is time to get profit, but do not even think it will be too long before the cryptsy thing is forgotten and price will raise again above the 400$. In fact, Bitcoin is pretty much the same as before this happened. Exchanges are always risky, and this one was being warned agains for months.

Yes it all was just bad timing, Hearn's declaration, Cryptsy, China market. Also the mainstream press has a knack to go for bad bitcoins news all the time. To the average consumer, Bitcoin is nothing more than a refuge for illegal activities, hackers and scammers and you can't blame them because we had a lot of those characters in the press lately.

A steady raise or for that matter a stable price is way more important then the price to go up this big.
I think we will see 800 dollar but, let's hope we get a increase of just 5% per month.

A steady, stable increase would be the best to have. That is wishful thinking however. Bitcoin market is dominated by speculators and thus we will observe a lot of peaks and falls, much more likely than a stable increase. The trend is up however, meaning that any sudden dump should be meet by buyers seeing the opportunity for further growth and thus providing the support.

The bitcoin price is consolidating at the moment. It could rise very fast in the next few months. That could be similar to Ethereum price action.

Yes, I think the Bitcoin will indeed rise. But I guess that it might take a long time.

It will take time to reach that point. maybe halving could raise the price but I don't think that it could go that big.  :)

When seeing the recent alt coin bumps, I just conclude any time bitcoin can test $1000 or above price also. Halving and world stock down trend are supporting bitcoin price up surge. So, I believe at any time we may see bitcoin prices starting raising and can reach any new levels also.

lets hope that it would happen, and seeing a new ATH and high bitcoin price would benefit all of us.  :)

I'm sure this will happen after a block halving. for the moment the market is still not safe, they still feared to invest in bitcoin.

If they fear to invest now how would there fear subside after halving? halving will have no bearing on investors because all the want is making profit by buying at low and selling at high.If there is something that can push its price,it is increase in demand.The more people and merchants start using bitcoin,the more it will be sought and consequently its price will go up

800 USD seems a far cry at the moment with all this block size infighting. I was thinking around 600 USD as a result of the halving but I'd love to see 800 USD bitcoin's.

i am quite sure that we may see an agreement being madr regarding the block size issue this year. if it somehow gets solved or bumped to 2mb per block, then i can see the price go even higher than the pre block halving pump. we just need to have patience. if we reach $600 this year, then it's fine. if we reach $800 then it's even better.

I think the price will reflect the halving before the halving itself. The price will start to rise in May or early June.

I think $500-600 is quite realistic goal, counting just on halving. Without further funadamental developments (and block size is one of them) we shouldn't dream about going beyond that mark.

yeah china will change bitcoins price, but not to 800$, it will rise to 800$ but not because of china, it will be pretty natural, maybe halving will help that, and holding bitcoins for later is always good idea

the entire mining industry is nearly in the hands of china. nearly every price increase is started by chinese exchanges and the other exchanges just follow as brave sheeps. the demand is comming from there so they will definitely cause the price to reach higher levels.

Holding is the right thing to do until the halving, as it is expected that the price of bitcoins would reach to $1k by the year end, so I believe holding bitcoins till the end of year 2016 is the right thing to do.

if the reward mining of bitcoin (after halving) = 25/2 (12,5)

when people speculate about the price rise after the halving they are talking about the pump that might come as the result of it which will be around that time with 1-2 month difference. but the overall price rise is going to happen in the 1-2 year and it might reach $1000 by that time.

Price of bitcoin can never be stable as the market cap of bitcoin is too small, so you can always expect major fluctuations in the price of bitcoins, price stability will never be a part of bitcoin.

The halving could double the price. If more people hear about bitcoin, the bitcoin price will also rise a lot due to awareness.

I'm sure we will reach the 1k no doubt about that, I even think we will hit a larger amount soon or later.

There is no indicator that the price is /will go to 800. There is a positive momemtum.. true. But let's not get over excited. This is doomed for failure and with that disappointment.

The value will not go to that high, as you can see now you see that the value is not even rising now around this time and that is already bad for the people who have Bitcoin.
I also think that it will reach maximal around the $500 because you see now indeed that the value will rise slowly so that is quite good now for this time, it kept stable for a long time.

I believe its possible for bitcoin to hit 800 $. Its going up everyday so its logical to think that there is high possibility to touch new high.

Bitcoin is not going to that high and that is because the price keeps stable for a long time and maybe it would be just reach only the $500 in December or something.
We all know also that the halving is coming but we dont know what there will happen with the halving and that is the problem, so you have to take some risks with it.

yeah you are right the mass adoption determine the price, but the mass adoption comes into being when the positive speculations started by the experts or by a large group of people.

Speculations will create any impact on the outsiders, majority of users of bitcoin belongs to this forum, lets hope speculations goes in right way and we can see this price very soon.

Mass adoption won't determine all the instances. Now too much positive speculations were going on, and had lead to huge rise in price. So this time I think halving place the role than adoption.

No it will definitely not happen so fast, we are now at almost the halve of $1000. The price is still rising and we do not when it is going to stop.

The $500 could be reached later this months or early June. The SegWit could be released by that time.

I am optimistic that it will go up to US$800+ at the end of the year, if you have observe that bitcoin community, the demand of bitcoin was from the gambling industry, there are new gambling sites being established now because they believe that bitcoin will become more popular in the future. Before some days I thought the price will reach $1k during the halving event but now the price is showing ups and downs which makes people to lose their hopes and the prediction now's goes around $800 to $900.

As you can see now you see that the value of Bitcoin is not even rising now and that is quite bad for the people that is already using Bitcoin because they want to earn profit fast.

yeah there are more chances for price to grow high, till now it has seen more fluctuations and my assumption is that as halving is approaching we can see positive impact on price increase and it can touch $800 within two months.

Because the low price was 225 during the bear market of 2014/2015/2016 and doubling it, due to the halving, gives us 450. You have to take what say with a grain of salt. There is the potential, but right now it doesn't seem like there is enough potential energy within the market to really want to go anywhere, and it looks like it is going to be a bit more stagnant for a little while before anything happens. I really doubt it'll make it to 900 at the end of the year at this rate; there's not much demand, and if anything, the halving not raising the price of BTC also made people uneasy. It'll take quite a while to get to even 800 this time around, unless we have another spike like we just had, which is possible, but probably not going to happen. If it does, though, it'll just be another bubble that pops and brings the price back down. Volatility is a pretty big issue right now, and that's part of what's driving people out of bitcoin and discouraging them from investing or even just putting money in it.

If you have notice how the market react after the big price fall back, you can tell that it is back to a positive direction now and we can make profit even for a short period of time just buying now.

The community is strong, not even an exchange hack can harm bitcoin anymore.

Well the recent bad news opens door for others to avoid buying at the rate of around $650 before the bad news happened. Others take some profit before it really gradually decrease and also able to purchase again at the level of $550. And with the price is on recovery mode expect a profit now for those who bought at $550 level.
