You can get to know the legitimacy of Bitcoin for each country by following this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country

According to Philippines: "On 6 March 2014, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) issued a statement on risks associated with bitcoin trading and usage. Bitcoin exchanges are not regulated by BSP at the moment."

There are also 7 merchants who accepts Bitcoin in Philippines: https://www.techinasia.com/bitcoins-spend-7-merchants-accepting-bitcoins-philippines

Lastly, you can visit your local board here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=219.0
in case you have any further queries.

Those people who know about bitcoin and who have adopted bitcoin definitely accept bitcoin whenever we come to deal with them for any thing, but unfortunately they are not the sellers of anything, they are either online earners or ex-changers.

Yes but in a small scale at the moment. Still too early for it to be widely accepted in most countries. About it's usage and being known, yes there's many bitcoin users here but our ways of spending is very limited for now.

when it comes to online merchants in my country accepting bitcoin as payment tool, then there are quite a few. but when it comes to local businesses accepting bitcoin, then there are barely any. there are 2 bars where you can pay with bitcoin for your beer and other drinks, but you'll need to drive around 30 kilometers to get there. i have been there once just to see how it is, but never again as it's not worth it for me to drive there for a few beers.

There are several companies as merchants working with bitcoin, but just online, on the real life there are some developers companies accepting bitcoin as payment, in your situation  i would try to sell the coins and use the fiat otherwise save and hold your coins, one day people will use bitcoin more then today.

No in my country Bitcoin is illegal currency. So the government will not entertain this currency. But those who know about Bitcoin they are making money from it. Means they will make Bitcoin from signature or gambling or any other work. And they will sell Bitcoin to a 3rd party or any sites. But still, many people surrounding me they don't know what is Bitcoin.

In Singapore, there isn't any clear regulations laid out for Bitcoins and hence many merchants are wary of using it. AFAIK, there are only several cafes and bars that accept it. There is however, several Bitcoin ATMs around here and I often see the most popular one getting the coins sold out.

Of course, there's a lot of shops accepting it online though it isn't based in Singapore.

We have BTM machine in Zagreb citty where i live and i think there will be few more at other cities soon. It is still not accepted at any real store though but even this is better than nothing.

Bitcoin is accepted in my country (Canada) at some more specific places but it isn't wide-spread across the whole country from what I know. It's primarily accepted as an entity by most people and I don't think the government cares too much about it beyond it existing, but I have yet to find a physical shop that accepts Bitcoin.

My government really doesn't have much idea about bitcoin and that's why they usually don't bother. The moment they will start bothering, I will have to sell my holdings and settle with fiat currency.

I heard that Japan and Canada is thinking about legalizing bitcoin. If it happens, it will be a good move for their countrymen.

Actual bitcoins aren't used at all to pay for good and services. but since we can't trade our local currency for any other, people use btc to bypass the government ban on currency exchange. as far as I know, bitcoin isn't considered money, just a digital asset

You know that you don't need any 3rd party service to buy games from Steam anymore, right? Steam announced full Bitcoin acceptance earlier this year.

I can't say that I see any kind of bitcoin acceptance growing in my country. At last not in real services and shops.
Apart of dedicated bitcoin exchanges and couple bitcoin related initiatives there is like zero adoption or knowledge about btc among general population.

Yeah that is a major problem with all of us that we are not able to spend it directly and if you are able to convert your bitcoins to  your local currency that means its legal in your country.

In my country, Croatia, we can use Bitcoin freely but, unfortunately, there are no so many places, shops etc. where we can spend Bitcoins.
I mostly spend BTC online.
We just got second BTC ATM in the country but I'm not sure how many people using it, since I don't think that we have much BTC users.
I hope this situation will change soon.

most of the country is not currently accept bitcoin as the official currency. as well as my country, there is no regulation that says the validity of bitcoin. bitcoin in my country banned its use. the government felt that bitcoin could hinder the movement of the economy and make it as a threat. it is a thing which I think is unfair to users bitcoin.

That is certainly true, most communities around the world is sure to have that use the bitcoin and they accept it. But it is not yet legally, because all countries are still busy to learn bitcoin deeper. I hope the bitcoin would become legal currency and if that happens then it is certain we will get an incredible bonus

Things do need time, that's right. I have enough patience to wait for it as there is no real hurry in seeing super markets and gas stations accept Bitcoin.

Great benefit of accepting Bitcoin as payment tool is that when it's not being used to pay for things, that it doesn't cost the merchant in question a single penny.

Every store should have Bitcoin as optional payment tool as it may bring in extra revenue after a while.

Yes bitcoin is accepted to my country.  But it  is somehow regulated by the third  party site because of their willingness to follow the Money laundering law. It is  where I encash my bitcoin, top up my mobile number and even pay my monthly bills.  The problem is some merchant partner this site refer are from other country.  I hope that someday more stores online that operates locally will accept Bitcoin as their payment.  BTW I am from Philippines as well :D

Yup we are not able to spend it easily at a moment but the best thing is that we can convert it to our local currency anytime we want which can take care of our spendings.

Bitcoin is not accepted by any of the small to large merchants over here, just few online earning guys deal with buy and selling bitcoin.

However i am seeing lots of potential for bitcoin based business here in Nepal.

almost no country fully accept bitcoin. the state government is still afraid to use bitcoin as bitcoin has a very unstable movement. they fear their country's economy will be ruined.

I'd say from my experience with government departments is most people wouldn't even have heard of bitcoin. The knowledge gap is very wide here, so most gov officials have little chance to understand how to regulate, that's why there's been no crack-downs, and most likely wont be ... apathy

Bitcoin is well accepted here in my country. But, I dont know what goverment says about bitcoin nowadays. One thing for sure, here I can buy and sell bitcoin easily. Some exchangers already use bitcoin and its been more than 3 years. I wish in the future, more and more exchangers and merchants will accept bitcoin.

That could happen mate if the price rate the bitcoin is taking now will continue to prosper, I am very optimistic with bitcoin and I believe in due time this will be a mainstream currency and be accepted by every country. The government can legalize this but we nee to wait for a longer time to make that happen.

There is really no regulations about bitcoins here just yet, and people are just freely using them.
So far, this has not posed any problems. But if there is any theft involving bitcoins, it is really hard to have it brought to court because just as there's no regulations, there's no support from it either.

Yes accepted but cannot be used much in stores. You will need to exchange it to fiat first which is not really that hard in our country. It is not really a problem and I see many people now are doing the same thing that I do.

Bitcoin is popular here in the Philippines so this the future currency in the Philippines. Hopefully many establishments soon to accept bitcoin as payment.

In our country there are no declaration proclaiming that the use of bitcoin is legal or illegal but we use it.
Also stores do not accept bitcoins not because they don't believe in bitcoins but its because was not known by many. It is a topic only known to selected few.

In my country too the same. There are not many stores that accept bitcoin. Possibly in future this will change because from my country more and more users were getting involved into bitcoin gradually. Also government doesn't focus much on bitcoin as it haven't made any impact on country's economy.

a lack of stores will make bitcoin difficult to grow and be accepted by country. then start from ourselves. create a shops selling goods in accordance with our abilities. it would be helpful to develop a bitcoin in our country. well as disseminate information about bitcoin disseminated to the wider community in our region.

Well, I think the country is still very difficult to accept bitcoin as some people use it for illegal transactions. My country is currently not received bitcoin, but I think many people are using it, but it is very difficult to find a place where you can exchange bitcoin that you have, with something being sold in my country.

But I have declared my income which I had cashed out through out the year in my tax declaration form. So I guess I wll not have to face any issue with that.

It is good to know that there are already a lot of places in the world that recognizes bitcoin and accepts it as form of payment. We, as bitcoin owners, must continue to help make bitcoin more widely accepted, not just online but also in our local shops, groceries and malls. It would be nice to live in a world where every transaction is as simple as sending of bitcoin away.

actually the problem is that here in our country people have no much knowledge about bitcoin. therefore we have very little opportunities to use bitcoin  because most of the shop keeper do not accept bitcoin.

Hi, bitcoin users i am from the Philippines. Willing to know if bitcoin is accepted to in your country. Because right now i have used one service that allows me to pay online or shopping buy steam and load so i am wondering if bitcoin is being used or known in your country.    ??? ??? ??? ???

Whether or not bitcoin is accepted in my country, I don't really mind that much. The important thing for me is the fact that I use it at the moment according to what I want to use it - if my country will it or not, doesn't really matter at all for me.

I play online casino and do some trading and exchanges with bitcoin and doge and that's the only thing I use with my bitcoin.

Most of the users are facing the same problem of not able to spend it at any local places, as majority of countries are not into bitcoin yet, and it will take long time to happen.

No in my country Bitcoin is illegal currency. The biggest problem in my homeland still Bitcoin not become famous. Yes, educated people also don't know what Bitcoin is. Surrounding my friends circle no one knows what Bitcoin is. I am teaching everyone now. And we have only less sites that they can convert Bitcoin to local currency. Except that, we don't have any source to use our Bitcoin.

Yes someway to use bitcoin is our freedom. But if there are countries prohibit bitcoin and has no legislation governing it is better not to use bitcoin. because as citizens we should not obey the rules, otherwise we could be prosecuted. But in my country bitcoin is still in a state of uncertain between illegal or legal.

As far as my knowledge goes, there are no regulations against bitcoin and its use in the country, so yes, it is accepted here. The thing is, there are only a few shops and merchants which fully integrates it in their payment system.  You can use some debit cards which can be loaded up with bitcoin and make your purchase if the store accepts Visa and Mastercard for payments (since debit cards such as Xapo use Visa for integration), but for direct bitcoin-to-goods purchase, there are only few shops (mostly coffee shops and tech stores) that can cater to such a service.

I live on a small Island and because one company here made a bitcoin debit card bit ripped everyone off, people are wary of it so I haven't seen any shops here take bitcoin at all. I know the University of Nikosia takes it for student fees. It was the first university to ever accept bitcoin in the world I think but among the lay people, no one barley uses it. I am for sure the minority here.

I dont think so sir if the university in your place was the first one,  we also have 5  universities here in our country that accept bitcoin i think since then but yeah this kind of service makes me love bitcoin

Wow! Universities accepting bitcoin as a tuition fee? That's kind of new to me. May I ask where is that? For I may research some and maybe share it with others.

Yes their is you can try to register at coins.ph and you will be able to see their service in my place within the country i know one unversity that accepts bitcoin as tuition fee

Normal currency have regulations and have warnings for using them. Well, at least banks do have limits on using money.
Bitcoin is only still considered a 'virtual' currency that poses no threat to the physical world, but our governments are already taking actions on how to properly implement it here.

Well, I can say that bitcoin in my country are not fully legal. Central bank says bitcoin is not a currency and recommend to stay away from it.
Maybe the central bank just worried if bitcoin will accepted in your country . Worried about if people loose the trust to use bank. But actually it will not be a problem if their work with each other.
Our central bank here is kind of stopping any bitcoin mass media attention currently because they are thinking of ways to properly publicize it. They are not stopping it, in fact they are preparing to officially fully accept bitcoins as one of the currencies as per many reliable spying resources.

Which is a good thing in my opinion, because it allows for us to get a majority of our Bitcoin now, relatively free and mostly untaxed. Once the government steps in and starts to do things, then it'll be hardest to earn Bitcoin and a lot of things like signature campaigns might not be able to exist in the same capacity that they do now. I think we have one of the free-est Bitcoin economies right now, and I hope it stays this way, but it likely won't in the future. I guess things could happen, but I'd rather not have to wait and fine out.

Very few of the people in India know about BitCoin. Especially the people who are illiterate know nothing about it. Think this is why the popularity of BTC is low in India.

What you are telling is a very long back story, i am also from india, and i have seen the growth of bitcoin users are more than 25% in india, and why illiterate but even lliterate persons are also not knowing about bitcoin and even after knowing it they are not accepting it as it is still no accepted by Indian Government.

But their are exchanges where you can buy and sell bitcoins and their are so many local users who are buying and selling bitcoins for local fiat currency. So i think India is also getting popular in using bitcoins but if the government gives some more clear details about using bitcoin then their will be very fast growth in the bitcoin users in India.

For small payments local stores don't make a problem of giving you your ordered products/drinks without any confirmations. They mostly use BitPay to handle all their Bitcoin related payments. BitPay analizes your payment and from there it calculates the risk of you double spending your coins. If you includede a normal market fee, then they will accept it without any confirmations. If you add a very low fee, or no fee at all, then it will require you to get at least 1 confirmation.

Yeah same here. We can use bitcoins to buy online products here in the Philippines. But I can not say that bitcoins are generally accepted here in our country since I can not use bitcoins in buying my groceries, payment in coffee shops and buying things that I want in personal. But the use of bitcoins here are not forbidden it is just that it is not that popular yet here in our country that is why establishments are  not yet accepting them as mode of of payments. Bitcoin accepted in my country and I am free to use. But for the bitcoin still a few people know so very rarely also use bitcoin as a payment method. My area is very difficult to use bitcoin for direct payments, if you want to use it must first change to the new currency is used.

if you talking about the legality of bitcoin. then our country has no statement about bitcoin either bitcoin is legal or illegal in our country. but if we talk about the bitcoin user so here as most of the people have no knowledge about bitcoin so they do not accept bitcoin in their shops or business.

I'm also curious in what country does not live and why Bitcoin Is illegal. Maybe it's prohibited because their government are afraid to use it on illegal transactions. Just my opinion, correct me if I'm wrong. Here in my country it's okay to use Bitcoin and do have also serviced like loading up your mobile phone using Bitcoin and also loading you game credits ex. It might just happen, but I think the Government can benefit from the interesting way the bitcoin, tax each month to all those who have a bitcoin. But this is probably going to make some people's objections and possibly deceitful in order not to be taxable. If it is not used for reasons of bitcoin, then in the future position of the bitcoin currency will be replaced by a more sophisticated digital and benefit all countries

In our country it is accepted since there was no declaration that is is not legal, so maybe it is legal, haha. Well I dont know what countries wherein bitcoin is being banned. But i know what countries are using bitcoin and it is legal, a good example will be two countries in Asia. The first is the country with the highest number of mining hashpower is located, its China. Second, the country that is going to follow the footsteps of China and may overcome it, its Japan.

bitcoin is do not acceptable in my country , when i earn bitcoin i convert bitcoin in some amount into fiat for direct shopping but i hope the government soon adopt the facility of bitcoin then we will no need to convert it in fiat .

To legally indeed bitcoin has not used all over the world as the official currency, but for illegal I believe that your country there which accepts payments using bitcoin. The intent of the illegal is not getting a definite Law reserved the money used (Bitcoin), so if they are having problems with bitcoin then the Government is not responsible

At present time, you can get away with bitcoin regulations in your country - if there are. One of the example given here is the banning in Russia but I there are many players in Russian dedicated chatrooms in online casinos I play with. Hence, even if it is really true that Russian Government banned bitcoin, people can still get away with it.

Mine too, our central bank says it's not illegal but be very cautious and wary when using or dealing with it. What I like here is there's a service that integrates BTCBTCBTC with seemingly everything you've got to deal with money. Bills, remittances, collecting payments etc. So yeah, it's basically accepted here.

I'm from India and as per my knowledge we have some services which allow us to trade bitcoins. Although one bitcoin service had little bit struggle with our central bank now everything seems fine. I am studying corporate laws and I have seen a conclusion from expert that right now bitcoin is not illegal and it’s not even a currency.

That means bitcoin is not yet recognized by my country’s government. If we have to consider possibilities then I can say, current government is pro development and might not ban bitcoin but promote it with some sort of restrictions. Digital wallet is becoming hot topic and it might be advantage for bitcoin.

It's probably a better thing if your government hasn't said anything about Bitcoin, most of the time they rule against those and make laws that are relatively unfavourable and proceed to wreck a lot of the Bitcoin economy in their country. The longer the government goes without saying anything about Bitcoin the better.

In here, it's more appropriate that it's not being minded, rather than either accepted or not accepted.
People here just does not seem to care just yet but I have heard that our government is actually having plans of properly introducing them to the public to make sure any possible adoption for central banks. So, I am very much positive for good progress in upcoming days.

Why is bitcoin illegal in your country dude? , i just hope that you can't make a mistake and will be punished by law. What certain country are you dude? because it makes me curious :D
well i guess that governments might not like it and they just ban it in order to avoid people using it and making bitcoins even more popular though thats just my guess

Well we really dont know the real reason behind this issue but i know fore sure bitcoin will going to surpass this challenge on its identity because as i  have known it is growing so fast

I am from Singapore and I know that my government do not really interfere with Bitcoin and similar cryptocurrencies. I've watched a talk related to Bitcoin in the TV. I've also read several news articles related to Bitcoin in the local newspaper. There is also a few big Bitcoin forex company based in my country.

Sadly, I've never meet anyone that use Bitcoin in real life before - or as far as I am aware.
yes many countries, just sitting and not doing any action. You're lucky to stay in singapore. there are still many countries that make regulations to inhibit the development of bitcoin.

Nope but some people here accept it when we trade,  Well I can just convert my bitcoins to flat

That's sad. Here one major BTCBTCBTC service practically connects everything you need with regards to finance. Bills, phone credits, bank account deposits, and everything you can possibly purchase online. The one thing that lacks really is a local BTCBTCBTC powered debit card.

Good for you since some merchants do accept bitcoin as payment in your country. that would be very great and  it gives you convenience even more. Hopefully bitcoin payments and  more merchants would allow to accept bitcoin as payment in the future. As of now i exchange my bitcoin to fiat to buy my wants  because its still not available here in my country.

I am also part of that lucky country who has some merchants that accepts bitcoin as one of their primary payment for their products. I also suggested in one of the growing service application which is a virtual visa card that allows us to shop using bitco in their service and i was lucky for the good feedback they have given as qoute "Yup we surely are going to consider bitcoin in our service in the near future"

I don't think so that it is a really big problem. People in the country that doesn't support bitcoins are not that used to in transacting bitcoin in the first place. But if that country will accept bitcoins, then it will be an added bonus for its constituents.

In my case, I only use bitcoin in gambling, trading, and exhange online - thus, whether or not my country would accept bitcoin, it doesn't really matters to me.

Not officially but yes, I can use Bitcoin in my country.
Unfortunately, only a few merchants accept Bitcoin and we have only 2 BTC ATM until now but I hope it will change soon.
Because of such situation, I mostly keep BTC in my wallet and waiting that Bitcoin becomes more popular and supported here.
It's good that we have good and professional exchange service and can easily exchange Bitcoin to local currency, and receive money directly to bank account.

As far as I know, there are only quite a few countries that have officially banned bitcoin. To other countries, they either accept bitcoin or just see it as a virtual item or a form of stock that people can invest in.
In where I live, bitcoin is somewhat accepted since there are already a few companies that accepts bitcoin as payment.

The country that are fighting against bitcoin to preserve their markets are:
China and Russia

The rest of the world is 'ok' with bitcoin.

but in my country there are few areas where the shopkeepers accept bitcoin for shopping, but in most of the area people do not accept bitcoin, the reason is that in my country people have very little knowledge about bitcoin. mostly the shopkeeper have no idea about bitcoin therefore they are not accepting it, on other side the government also do not show any interest in bitcoin, they not yet legalize bitcoin not yet turn it illegal, but now the users of bitcoin are increasing hope that in future most of the people will get benefit from bitcoin.

Yeah, in Philippines (which I live). Only few shops are accepting bitcoin as payment. Since it is included in the Third World country, the people do not have that knowledge about this kind of currency and not all stores here are using automated mode of payment since they are not familiar to it. The government neither support nor permits the use of bitcoin here. They just let us do what we want. I hope they will construct a law that it may be accepted in malls or etc.. But, it is too early to assump. Since bitcoin users are wide-spread. Maybe in the future, bitcoin will be legalized here in the philippines. Come to think of it, Bitcoin is a lot more helpful to be legalized than marijuana right ? Hahah :D Just some humor assumptions. Cheers ! :p

In my country, I'm also in the same situation. I can only use it online or if I need to buy prepaid load from someone.
I especially hate it when someone doesn't offer my carrier's credits (e.g. Globe only)

Other than that, I'm not aware of any local usage of Bitcoin.

You got a point, legalizing Bitcoin In Philippines would be great and it would also be very useful to those Filipino who earn Bitcoin online. It would be very useful and gives more convenience on purchasing something either online or on physical. It's too far better than legalizing marijuana instead. Well let's wait what would be the future on Bitcoin in every country.

It is same in my country also. Bitcoins are not accepted directly by any online merchants to buy any items, but it is quite easy to convert my BTC to fiat currency and use it for my regular purchases. But this process will take some % of fee to convert currency, and I don't really like that portion.

Everyone has some sort of tax for their services, and in this instance it's a percentage fee or whatever your trading in order for the owner to make money and also cover their own costs.

I personally don't mind the fees as long as they're relatively small and don't go in excess of 1.5%, and preferably under 1%. If it goes in excess of that, unless I really need the money or it is a more complex exchange (i.e. mixer included), chances are I'll skip on it.

Bitcoin services has no fee included in every transaction but if you exchange it into fiat that is using other services that is why there is charge in your transaction, for me in my country there are few online stores, hotels, resorts and booking flights who accepts bitcoin as form of payment and if i used bitcoin directly to them i do not charge any transaction i made.

What I'm always doing is just converting my biitcoins to flat however unlike bitcoin who doesn't have any transaction fee, converting bitcoin to flat do have so It would be really helpful if some shops accepts bitcoin as a payment

I'm guessing one out of 500 people know about bitcoins in here since the awareness is really low. My friends never heard for bitcoin, and I don`t know how to explain them what am I doing. I just telling that I earned few dollars with some easy tasks, but they are very suspicious about all this.

All I know that in capitol we have one bitcoin atm machine where we can buy bitcoins, but I never saw that cause I rarely go there. Its located in some restaurant lobby. I dont know how it works , cause I never had contact with something like this before.

I think if there are no shops yet that will accept bitcoin then we can easily cash out it into fiat, that is not necessary if you are not a spender, you just simply create an account at the exchange sites in your area and then cash out or if you want you can still save it for the future.

I don't think Bitcoin is accepted as a currency anywhere through laws, even if some stores accept it. It's accepted as a payment method in them, but I guess the owners have to exchange it back in USD/EUR/their local currency monthly. As we've got just a few shops accepting BTC, it's hard to use it in our daily routine.

first it wrong to say that bitcoin is not a currency, bitcoin is a currency it is an online or digital currency and also known as crypto currency. and the second this that every sate has their own policy they have to decide about it that either it is good for their state economy or not if they accept it as a currency in their state or not.

I do not think that was the reason the state to not allow bitcoin in circulation, because we know the state will not be bankrupt without us paying a transaction fee bitcoin. Because the country is still getting supplies from the tax :)

But according to the article I read, bitcoin rejected because the country concerned will be transactions that are anonimous and it will be difficult for the authorities if there are citizens who use bitcoin for illegal activities.

Hi, bitcoin users i am from the Philippines. Willing to know if bitcoin is accepted to in your country. Because right now i have used one service that allows me to pay online or shopping buy steam and load so i am wondering if bitcoin is being used or known in your country.    ??? ??? ??? ???

Well, bitcoin is not generally accepted in my country but it is accepted. Since there are a lot of people here in country who have knowledge of bitcoins and who currently hold bitcoins. There are sellers here who took advantage of bitcoins and accept it as their mode of payment. But still bitcoin is not generally used as a mode of payment here in our country

Yes in my country bitcoin is also acceptable but still few know. Although there are some stores that use bitcoin payments but rarely people are using. May still need a process that bitcoin is used in my country because I think still new bitcoin.

Bitcoin is accepted in my country but the only place i know in my city that actually accepts it was cex but when i went in there and tried to do a bitcoin transaction noboddy in their knew how to do it then the one guy who did informed me that they didnt actually do it at that branch so it was a little disappointing.

Really? What country are you from by the way and may I also know what type of company is cex ? What kind of business is it engaged it? Maybe the guy there was not oriented properly that is why he doesnt know anything. Who knows, that might be the last time that you will ever be disappointed in making transactions using bitcoin because it will be widely accepted already in your country.

That is good that the government in your country will not take the advantage to earn by imposing tax because the value of bitcoin is very high that is i am worrying here in my country if government accept bitcoin to be other source of payment i think they will impose tax on it.

in my country although is no restriction in my country, but still there are very few facilities in our country to use bitcoin in local markets, the reason is that most of shopkeeper do not accept bitcoin in their shops for shopping, actually they have no knowledge abut bitcoin most of the shopkeepers are illustrate have no knowledge about bitcoin and computer, therefore they do not believe on bitcoin. i think in my country it required such a long time that people will get knowledge about bitcoin and they they will allow bitcoin to use for trading in their shops.

Your case just as it happened in my country. Here a lot of people using bitcoin and the government does not prohibit, but the government has not legalized it. So if we lose our bitcoin due to fraud or stolen, the government will not be responsible. But because fraud is banned in my country the perpetrators may be arrested hehe.

Yeah, it is indeed very true and it is indeed a major problem for bitcoin in the introduction in all sectors. All sectors are still not know and understand the bitcoin deeper, or they already understand the basic of bitcoin but they fear the security assurance given by bitcoin as they heard the news about some companies affected bitcoin hacking

Yeah Even in my country also bitcoin is not accepted and there is no any place for bitcoin as a payment but we can still use it as payment in online merchants that accept bitcoin as their payment. People are still unfamiliar with bitcoin so bitcoin isn't commonly used in here. But I'm sure in next few years bitcoin will well spread and more companies will accept bitcoin as payment.

It was when it started getting recognized and shown in the media quite a bit. But that was when it was the "new e-currency that you need to try!". Those days have gone and it is pretty mainstream now and more people have heard of the since then. But those places that accepted it for payments don't anymore since that latest and greatest thing buzz has since subsided.

Yup in my country also the same problem. The Bitcoin is not a legal currency. So we have the only option that some website will convert bitcoin to our local currency. There we exchange our Bitcoins, and we use it for our personal use.

In most cases, that 'one guy' is tons of guys. I think the people in your country are all into traditional stuffs and the only people that has an Internet connection are the rich ones. Yeah, even all the countries have not received the bitcoin as currency and all transactions carried out by all those using bitcoin positive illegal, because the law has not had the bitcoin. However this is not a problem for me, because I did a positive transaction and only in lieu of bitcoin loss from the stuff I take

It really depends on the country that person is living in and the company behind the Bitcoin ATMs.

In some cases the government will force the companies to verify every single user the first time they use that ATM, and in some cases the company itself does it for "security purposes".

I will avoid using these ATMs at all times as you don't know what will happen with your personal information.

Yes, but it is only limited on some stores only and that limited store is not where you can buy your daily needs. Bitcoin accepting stores here are just made for innovation like cupcake stores or coffee shops. You can also pay your bills like credit card, electricity, water bill, etc. but it still risky to do it because bitcoin is not that well known right now so you still have to convert it to cash first before paying them.

yeah I think it will take a long time maybe 5-10 years in the future so that bitcoin could be more popular and well known that many people will begin to adopt and use bitcoin. mayne include many companies that will adopt the bitcoin. we wil waiting for it

Yeah the future of bitcoin is bright and it will be widely used and accepted in future we just need to wait for the right time for it to happen and we would be able to spend it hassle free.
Not all the things we can buy with bitcoins especially when the amount involved is a considerable amount of money, sometimes we prefer to know who our transacting with to feel comfortable in transacting online, only when there is a platform that would be supported by the community to comply with the KYC policy will the transaction on online shopping will increase.

You're still proud of that?

Where did you get that news? any proof? read this -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country#Philippines  .. As far as I know there is only a handful, not even more than your fingers in your hand that accepts bitcoin here in the Philippines except for the exchange sites...

You’re still lucky that your country accepts bitcoin. In my place, there are only like one or two coffee shops that uses bitcoin and they only available in the foreigners tour area. And we can hardly pay bills with bitcoin directly. We even don’t have bitcoin ATM so it’s quite difficult for bitcoin users to think about using bitcoins here.

Hey man!!! I think that's wrong to say that, you are part of the system, you are part of the Philippines government since you are here.. But anyway, lets go back to the topic, it's good that you find stores that accept bitcoin here, I haven't find any, even online stores, that is why I always resort to just converting my coins to fiat if I have to buy something.

even with bitcoin atm's and several bars and restaurants accepting bitcoin people won't direclty start using it. they are waiting for places to buy their daily needs with bitcoin. that's when people will be much more willing to start using bitcoin also as a currency instead of only as an investment tool. that aside, bitcoin atm's have quite hefty fees. so it may not even be that interesting to use them.

I agree that it will take a long time for company to adopt bitcoin as their payment for their employees salary. Maybe a decade because of some setup and rules to be made.  We all know that company takes time to decide in implementing stuff that doesnt need an urgent attention.

Same here in our country (or we may probably live in the same? I doubt it though).
There's only around a total of at most 10 stores that accept bitcoin and those stores are only found in the capital city which is about 5 hours away from me on vehicle travel. It wouldn't really be worth to go on a 10-hour drive just to see them.

Exactly there is no place to spend bitcoins at a moment so only option available is to convert it to local currency and use it in the form of fiat.

The government obviously know bitcoin and they are already making measures on how to handle it because this is also a threat sometimes like buying illegal weapons and drugs, and the transacting party is unknown due to its anonymous in nature.

I have seen no websites are accepting bitcoin for buying or selling goods. But there are so many local traders who accept bitcoin in exchange of local currency.

I think it better not to use your bitcoin for silly shoppings like daily groceries or mobile recharge. Because, this way you will slowly loose your fortune. Bitcoin has a huge upside potential. So hold on to it for long time without spending it. You will feel the power of bitcoin.

governments will never accept the development of something (in this case bitcoin) that has the potential to cause them a lot damage. all the development has to come from the community, and people looking to build applications and increase the adoption.

The floating situation happens in a lot of countries because they're feeling doubt to applied bitcoin in their country and feeling difficult to leave the bitcoin. but it's better than the government is banned the bitcoin from their region.

However, a few countries have banned bitcoin altogether,  few has taken a generally positive approach towards bitcoin. Most countries have not clearly made determinations on the legality of bitcoin, preferring instead to take a wait-and-see approach. Some countries have indirectly assented to the legal usage of bitcoins by enacting some regulatory oversight. However, bitcoin is never legally acceptable as a substitute for a country’s legal tender.

Bitcoin is not accepted in my country. Not more people are aware of it. I can't use it physically anywhere in my country, so I just convert to my local currency or I will purchase something online.
Yup in my country also the same problem. The Bitcoin is not a legal currency. So we have the only option that some website will convert bitcoin to our local currency. There we exchange our Bitcoins, and we use it for our personal use.

That's very saddening to hear that your country hasn't accepted bitcoins just yet but it's only a matter of time until people know about it. Maybe you can be one of the people who would publicize bitcoins or maybe ask some stores about it.

I think there are the maximum number of countries are not accepting Bitcoin. I am Publicising about Bitcoin in my friend circle. I am doing my work, Let's see it will work out or not.

bitcoin is really not banned in our country but not legal also but there were few merchants that accepts  bitcoin as their way of payment which makes it  much easier for us to spend some of it. I also do share bitcoin to my circle of friends.

In my Country it's not widely accepted but we are not prohibited to use or keep Bitcoins. There are warnings sent by the Government about the risks of using Bitcoin but again its not banned. There are only a handful of merchants accepting Bitcoins and a few local exchangers. So I don't see Bitcoin going mainstream in my Country in the next couple of years.

In my country, the government doesn’t give any restriction about using bitcoin but it seems to me that they don’t want us to use bitcoin or just simply don’t know about it or maybe they’re afraid of the risk that bitcoin brings . And the people in my place don’t care much about bitcoin, some of them even don’t know what bitcoin is so I hope that some day the government would realize the potential of it and would encourage people to use it officially.

yiz same as here or are we from the same country were our bitcoin wallet can be use to pay our monthly bills ? no need to go in bayad center to pay that thing ? and this bitcoin wallet is partner in some banks where they can deposit our money because we sell to them our bitcoins and then exchange it into fiat so that we can use it for our future needs
We are from the same country, too bad we cant spend it by purchasing in any stores because it is not recognize yet but im looking forward that somehow that would happen. its a good thing our local wallet has features where we can pay our bills and buy load so its convenient for us.

We just have to hope for that. But maybe with us spending it more and if businessmen see's that we might have a chance that they will enter in our countries. I got that little problem also when it comes to spending physically.

it think its the major problem of all the country across the globe... there are only limited country who accept the BTC directly so many of us  change that BTC to fiat from the local people who are intrested to buy or from the international source.....and talking about the partnership between the banks and the BTC wallets is a new thing for me

of course they do know about bitcoin, i don't know any country that their government is stupid enough not to know about bitcoin existence.

if you search enough and know where to search you can find something that points to bitcoin , maybe some suggestion in your parliament about bitcoin that never got confirmed but trust me they do exist if you look for it.

Well you can take your guess, but here in the States there are a lot of places that accept Bitcoin in a lot of different places, you just have to be looking in the right locations. While it isn't accepted everywhere and you can just go and use it, still a fair amount of people are involved with Bitcoin and it just takes a little bit of finding or knowing the right people to spend it. A fair amount of online shops sell it too.

Because they cannot easily control bitcoin unlike the current financial system where they are the one making money. Bitcoin is a unique thing that would give equality regardless of your status in life as long as you know how to do it and able to risk some money for investment or transaction online.

If we keep fiat out of the system, then Bitcoin is unregulated in my country. As it is decentralized, it can be considered to be a domestic currency here. i think with good adoption in future it may happen.

If you are able to convert your bitcoins to your local currency easily that means bitcoin is accepted in your country but the important this is to know where you can spend it physically or not.
But it does not mean bitcoin is accepted in my country because I converting my amount and no one knows about that and especially the government. But in my country, the freedom of people is very good. they can do anything but without violate the rules of the constitution.

Yeah. Some country banned bitcoin from transacting inside their country and if they caught you using it, they will put you in jail. But other country only ban the things related to gambling like bitcoin gambling but not the bitcoin itself.

That is certainly true, but I think there is definitely the citizens who still use the bitcoin in every transaction they do or just wait until the State of the investments they cancelled such banned or wait for the price of bitcoin ride. This will not be a problem, because each country will not be able to do some checking to all of its citizens in the use of the internet

As I experienced, my country there is no ban on using bitcoin. There is even a local bitcoin exchanger in my country. But on the other hand, my country has not endorsed the bitcoin. However, if you are using bitcoin here to gamble, it became illegal because my country prohibits gambling. Or fraud in bitcoin transaction, Because fraud is criminal then the authorities will arrest the perpetrators. The government does not prohibit bitcoin if for a good thing.

In different countries they have different treatment to bitcoin some may see it as a threat and some treat it as a normal currency. A majority of the countries that have accepted bitcoins as a normal currency are all first world countries. I don't know any third world country that have any bitcoin stores already. But I heard due to lack of direct acceptance, many bitcoiners find this as a business opportunity to act as an exchanger to bridge the gaps.

Its good that you can use bitcoins freely as in most countries government is not supporting bitcoins but they have not banned too, but if bitcoin gets support from government then it can be more powerful and popular.

I know there are people that you really need to teach them one on one in order to understand as not all people are techy.

The only problem is the KYC process, though credit card can be fast in transaction but if you will consider the expenses, it is really big compared to using bitcoins, but people have no choice because credit card can be accepted anywhere because it has your true identity when you are transacting it.

You are actually in the right track and take advantage of it to accumulate more bitcoins. So that when people in your country get to notice bitcoins and it will be publicly accepted by the majority of the people living in Ukraine, then you can exchange some of your bitcoins for real cash during that time to your fellow citizen there :)

But it is impossible to use BTC for retail shopping. Not a single super-market accepts BTC. For retail shopping, I need to convert my BTC to fiat, by paying a hefty premium.

Ofcourse bitcoin are accepted here in my country , and its legal and some merchants now are now accepting bitcoin as a payment method we can now also pay our monthly bill with our bitcoin wallet its now less hassle because we don't need to travel that far to pay our bills and we use coins.ph because it is amazing here in philippines <3

Philippines is really developed country in terms of bitcoin as most of the people are aware about bitcoin, I have few female friends from Philippines and they all are using bitcoins and that really surprised me as girls from my country have not even heard about bitcoins.

I think it was not declared as legal or illegal, the proper words is just it is acceptable here in our country, we can actually easily cash out from different banks and for me though we cannot directly spend our bitcoins online but with exchanges in the area it would be possible to easily cash out.

Actually it is not that it is legal or illegal here in the Philippines, it is not regulated by the government and I think they are just starting to monitor online transactions now... Everything that the previous poster said happens because of coins.ph and not because the establishment accepts bitcoin.. Coins.ph just process your transaction, or payment, but the establishment will still receive fiat and not bitcoin.

i look that many country is not giving the good statement about bitcoin, they don't make a statement bitcoin is legal or illegal. maybe in off the record, government in each country will said, use bitcoin for your own risk and don't blame everyone when you get scam. i think this is why that its time for any institutions related with bitcoin will give the right information so the government will accepted bitcoin.

Yes if they are accepting bitcoin that means they are officially into it, and  may be in future we will find many shops that will start accepting bitcoin as a mode of payment.

It is hard to pull back if you sttarted it. Specially when a lot of peoplr have known that your shop is accepting this currency. Sometimes I think about it. How is the owner taking the $100 dollar fall I bet he is good at managing it.

That is certainly true, if we manage something that hasn't been heard or not known by most people then it is something that is futile and will not provide a positive impact. But if you want to get something good, then open an Online store is the most appropriate thing. because everyone knows it and definitely you get customers

Being considered legal is different from simply just accepted. Well, it's not really officially accepted as well as there are only third party company/ies that are actually doing the business. But these private organizations may trigger governments' stand on bitcoin in future. Governments may consider them as their free of cost trail providers.

Hi, bitcoin users i am from the Philippines. Willing to know if bitcoin is accepted to in your country. Because right now i have used one service that allows me to pay online or shopping buy steam and load so i am wondering if bitcoin is being used or known in your country.    ??? ??? ??? ???

I belong to philippines also, so far there is only one merchant I know who accepted bitcoin and that is coins.ph, and few businesses only who accepted bitcoins which can be found in makati, and restaurant. when it comes to adoptions where not in that stage maybe it will take a long time before the masses realize how big advantage we have if we are using bitcoins. :)

You can also walk into some stores in your area asking them if they are willing to accept Bitcoin as form of payment alongside their usual payment options. It's potential extra revenue that they could be generating. Which store doesn't like that idea? I am doing the same and 2 shops have notified the store boss about it. One is a small local super market, and the other is a Japanese restaurant. Will be interesting to see whether or not they will give Bitcoin a chance.

it was very nice, it is beginning to countries you can recognize bitcoin. most disadvantaged countries even refuse bitcoin. your country can still fight for bitcoin as a legitimate financial payment media.

But you need to have a verification I.D and Selfie Verification to allowed a person to deposit and withdraw with the max potential of their service as I can say Bitcoin in the Philippines is only regulated and not accepted as a means of money or fiat. however supposedly a certain store and restaurant might be accepting BTC as a payments though.

I think it's not that legal or illegal, it is more like there is not much authority or law that could regulate bitcoin yet in where we live, but soon, since there are already laws about internet and cyber world, for sure there will come a time that the government will pass a bill that would regulate the use of bitcoin and other online currencies and transactions...   :)

Good to hear that.  Just like here in our country we can trade bitcoin and withdraw it directly.  Coin wallet here do even have partnered with many remittance centers, a convenience store.  Also banks and other services like paying loans, paying bills like electricity and credit cards.  You could also pay tuition fees, how cool is that.  Though people in our country were not still aware of these transactions and about bitcoin.  But surely it will happen as there is an increasing rate of users as of now.

I have seen a store bitcoin signage in Davao like the usual logo in bitcoin (the orange background) but I did not stop by because I am riding a bus that time but I am sure that's a bitcoin logo. And I didn't see it for myself if it's a store btw but why the heck they would hang in there if it's not bitcoin related anyway?
