Hi guys,
since i'm making quite nice profit from trading on Poloniex i have decided to make a blog/thread about it and post daily updates about my positions, success and loss.

I have around 15k$ (http://prntscr.com/byd0x7) in my account and i do daily margin trading. Some days i make 50$, some 400$, depending on how wild market is on that day.
I invest pretty conservativly and only in the currencies i believe will have a great future or at least bigger price then there currently is, this way if i get stuck by buying at a bad price i can wait and eventually get a profit since lending fees are so low. Also i don't use my maximum margin levels to stay out of danger, there is no need for this since i'm happy with 100$ daily. While trading on margin i hold altcoins that i believe will have a great future, currently those are ETH and Lisk, but also have some Sia which im planning to sell since their team seems too slow to me and their project turned out to be something completly different that i have expected.

Yesterday was a great day for me when ETC did chaos on the market i made around 0.7 btc. I made around 0.6 from trading ETH alone, but it's too much action to screenshot it i would need to use few screenshots. Will do it if you guys reqest.

Ripple is healthy coin, got a lot going on and will surely get over my base price + some profit in a next few days.

Basicly from the current coins in margin trading on Poloniex i trade with ETH, MAID, Ripple and DASH, those are the ones i believe will have a future, not so sure about other ones.

What i have learned so far on trading:
Patience - you don't have to buy at that very moment and you don't need to buy with whole budget

Read news before entering the position on ever particular currency

Don't be greedy, take a smaller profit and get out of the position when the green candles look great, there will always be more opportunities.

Don't regreat missed opportunities and trades where you could have done better by staying longer in it because you don't even notice all the situations where you did good by shorting the position on time, you take it for granted.

Buy on dips, if there is nothing happening on the marked better wait and do nothing then buy expensive just to get entertained.

I have never understood how the margin trading works, and as many people have never suggested it to me I was always afraid to try it as I couldn't understand how exactly that works. From the first screenshot that you provide i see a total trade amount of 2.4BTC which is good for a short time to trade, so it was all manually or automatically?

Margin trading is beautiful because you can hold the coins that you believe in and still get to use other coins which are available on margin trading. For example i transfer 600 ether into margin and for it i get 600*13 (current price) * 2.5 (leverage) = 19500 $ worth of any coin listed in margin trading. So i can buy MAID with this value and still own my ether which im sure will rise in the future.
It's manually when it comes to trading, just like normal trading, but it's all automaticly when it comes to lending the money from others and taking profits/losses.
I would say margin trading is a great tool if you use it carefully. If you like to gamble and walk on the edge then this might be a very dangerous tool to play with.

Thank you for sharing this important notes , I always follow this notes when I trade altcoins , but the difference between you and me is that I trade with small amounts because I don't have a lot of money , but I am making good profit , and by the time my balance will increase for sure .

By this you own 600 ether and xx MAID which in total have the x2 value that you invested at the beginning and then you can decided which one to sell? Or I'm missing something here. Which are the risks while doing margin trading? I'm new on this sorry maybe for these noob questions but it's confusing and can't see the difference between normal trading and margin trading.

Your advice is way too good; Teaching the noobs so much makes it drastically harder for the winners to profit.  :D

Yeah basicly i think if you follow this notes with no exceptions you would be winning.


No, you transfer ether or any other currency that is available on margine trading from exchange account into margin account. This is not investment is just a transfer and you can to transfers without any fees.
For this 600 ether in my example that you transfered into margin account you can use curretly 19500$ worth of any other currency listed on margin trading. But once you enter some other currency you cannot use ether untill you close the position, at least not the amount of ether required to cover the cost of the position you entered.

I guess i have too much free time, but you never know what good can come out of the topic like this one. :)

Exactly, I was doing the same way also just like you (but smaller BTC amount). But, I was just focusing on one to two coins because im still in a studying process. But luckily I turn my 0.003 BTC into 0.078 BTC in one wk I think. But now, I do the Biggest mistake when I buy at BM, and became scam. now im starting again .

I do trading too but in sad life i lost my money in trading because the coin i buy is dead now so you can give a tip to best way i can get profit into trading.

Dude those are huge profits for 1 week, i don't think you were conservative with investments as i'm.
You muliplied your initial investments 26 times in just one week, that's insane, i guess you took a lot of risks.


As i stated in the first post i only trade with coins that im not afraid to get stuck with because im pretty sure they will get above my position.

Also i never invest my house in 1 position, 10% of you budget is ok, little bit risky, 5% is better.

Do you have any twitter handler where you keep posting your open positions and closed positions in margin trading. I am also struggling hard to get profit out of altcoin trading. I think if you have time you should operate one twitter account and post updates when you open/close orders in your account with or without screenshot will be enough for us to follow you and make profit.

I know nobody could guarantee profit in trading however following expert could be good decision.

I like your trading coins since they are similar to what i would use and safe playing. Im going to follow you for a few eeks and see how you do. My trading hasnt been very good the last while so i wonder if following you will make me some small profits. I dont have the same amounts your willing to risk on trades though so will have to use smaller amounts which wil obviously net me a smaller profit but any profits are nice for me ;)

Id like to ask though. With ripple you have around 8 btc invested, What will you do if ripple drops further? will you take the loss or will you hold and hope for a rise? Id also be scared having 12 btc in eth atm =p

margin trading surely can give big profit but it can give big loss. i still don't understand how to get big profit, i am trying to trading in margin trading but i only get 17k as a profit. maybe i am wrong in make analysis when its going down or when its going up. i always bought with only half of my budget on margin trading. maybe i need more practice.

i think sharing your trading strategy has a little bit side effect for you OP. you will earn in trading because other
traders are losing. and if you keep continuing this things. all members will copy your style and that`s worst.
the essence of trading is to buy low and sell high the only one that will benefits on it is the owner of trading site, the devs of coins
and the first staker of coins.. i hope you didnt do this just to promote your coin that you buy and wait others to buy it  for price increase.
it is much better to teach your strategy rather than sharing your daily stats of your coin you stake OP.


btw your strategy is good and the money you risk in trading is a little bit high. i think you didnt experience a heavy dump in trading thats why you risk that amount.

with Ripple im 10 BTC in, and i would be surprised if it drops bellow 880 since there is a lot of things going on for Ripple, many banks are testing it, and there will be some news about it in the near future im sure, which will pump it into profits for me.
Also i see them releasing new videos, new partnerships, they are working on it, it's far from being dead. Anyway if it drops further bellow i'll keep it, lending fees are minimum and i can wait.
Im only thinking of shorting 3 BTC worth of Ripple at 910 which i've bought on 895 and 900 only to get little bit more room for other trades till im waiting Ripple to do it's thing.


half of your margin value is a lot, i start buying with like 1-2 BTC out of 35+ which i can use. Im looking for small profits, 0.2 BTC daily is good enough for me.


I think there are too many people who want read this thread, and even if they do it's not something that a lot of people don't know, it's a common trading advices, but i'll try to turn those advices into practice and we'll see if i'll succeed or not, i think it will be interesting for the people to follow it, like reality show :D

Today i see ETH started dropping and since i don't see any serious reason for it other then further ETC releases from Kraken Bitfinex etc. i started buying again at 193 http://prntscr.com/byj0w8 and i'll buy more again at 189 if it continues dropping...

Ethereal is coming out tomorrow i hope http://ethereal.cloud/ and many other projects on ETH such as Augur, Gnosis, Golem, Swarm i the near future...Other than that devcon 2 is happening soon and ETH is the main start of this event i expect sky rocketing price for ETH.

Nice.Good too see someone finally making a stable income trading alt's.You choose to deal with only reputed coins and that's what keeps many traders in the debt,selection of shit coins.I'd suggest you to expand your horizons from Polynoix to Localbitcoins,multiple trades with medium margins (which you seem to do perfectly)! Make a account on Localbitcoins,open the Buy/Sell adds by the same user,you will get a clear idea of what a margin trade is. :)

Im still interested in watching how this goes. Im tempted to try and follow and almost bought into some maid as well but i think it will be best to see where you go with this and how you do before i splash any cash. It just looks like a lot to risk on some coins but im sure you know what your doing. Hopefully all goes well for you.

Still cryptocurrency market is highly volatile so can get good profit.

But No one control market or even rule market all time so time is very important factor in trading. As well as guessing or understanding possibilities are important.

One thing I don't get about margin trading on poloniex is that you move funds to the margin account but don't actually use them. They are just for collateral right? So then what is the benefit of trading on margin verses the regular exchange? Can someone clarify?

This is right, you only put your coins there as collateral and the benefit is that you get your coin value multiplied by 2.5 to use on trading.

Today Ripple started rising, its around my base price so i'll have to wait it a little bit more to take the profit.
Other than that i didn't enetered any other currencies, i'm waiting for better prices.

STEEM doesn't seem to be doing quite well for the time being ... Maybe the right time to invest or maybe it can still go down. What are your thoughts about that?

I cannot trade STEEM on margin trading so i don't. But even if it were there i think it's too new to trade with it, i dont know what to expect from it. It's still in beta version and currently i see the hype is over, less and less posts get submitted daily, price is dropping.

For the currencies i'm trading, im pretty sure they will rise, ETH, MAID, DASH, Ripple, im also looking into Factom ATM, doing a research to see if it's worth a risk.

So when you do margin trading, you actually borrow money and if you can not return what you borrowed then you get penalized?

You can only lose what you have, so it has an automatic sell/buy point built in that assures no assets are lost. Its more or less trading with air, but people lending it out earns a small fee, so as long as you know what you are doing its a win-win situation

Read this thread from begining i have already talked about this coins, i follow their development and i think they all have a lot of potential, offering something new.

I bought in quite a lot of maid when it was at 22919, Ive been bag holding it ever since. What do you think would be the best plan of attack now? Or what would you do? Should i just dump them off now at a pretty big loss or do you think its worth hanging onto them in the hope that the price will go up and over where ive bought them or at least recover some value?

YO coin is a new coin that seems to be hyped at present, the price is not too high at the moment either.

Why don't you exchange your maid coins for yo coin, wait for the price of yo coin to rise and make your profit there, instead of waiting on maid coin for ages.

Btwn. from the videos of this guy you can see that i did a bad decision entering Factom, it wasn't a panic at all.

well there is no bad to try it out..  i just get some partial from profit from other and let me try if this is working.
Try and try is always the best and learn and experience to be success in the future..

ETH seems to be a coin with great potential but at this moment it is too risky to invest in eth.
I would never advice anyone to invest in ETH, because it is a sinking ship now.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and trades! It was very good move from u to buy ETH on 1800 - it is huge buying wall for now. I agree with you that ETH have a lot of potential, me and my partner investing in mining of ETH - we have 230 mHs already. Not much but good for beginning :) Anyway, I shorted ETH on 1850 with a tight SL if I wrong, waiting for break even 1800 because market testing this level again and again. Plus its trend continuation trade.

Around how many time you dedicated to trade at day?

Currently i would say too much, i got addicted to the charts lol. Around 8 hours daily, even 12 sometimes.

And it's pretty depressing to make profit 10 days in the row and have smaller account then before those 10 successful days only because ETH and BTC are down :/

I'm thinking of going ouf of the crypto and maybe trade for $ only, cryptos are so unstable that i feel like i've lost those 10 days on nothing.

There's some exchanges that offer future contracts.

The one I tried is from OKcoin 1 week, 2 weeks or 3 months, it's similar to margin trading, you can go long or short.

Holding it, i strongly believe in ETH, and i think ETC is the biggest pump and dump event in crypto history.
I understand the hype behind ETC but there is no team behind it, and without apps, without hard fork to POS it will die.

In the begining of your topic you said that you doing margin daily trading. When ETH action started you bought some "cheap" ETH because you strongly believe in it. Well, it is a problem for a most of the traders, and I am not exeption. But I solved this problem by simple decision and I make this decision every time I put my money on risk. I am asking my self - do I investor or trader in this deal?

Investing means buy and hold only. Trading is buying and selling without any doubts about the future of this currency.

After Bitfinex hack im no longer sure that profits from trading are risk worthy because at any moment you can lose all our money if the hack happens. Thinking about puting ETH and Lisk into offline wallets and move trading to forex or something.

If someone manage more account (10 for example) this mean that he could earn income by apply a fee on profit . As i said you in PM beware of user that ask you to send BTC on their wallet: you must have the control of your BTC at any time  :)

It's so sad to take money into wallet and stop trading but if Bitfinex, MtGox and Coinbase got hacked, it's only a matter of time till Poloniex gets hacked as well. Just cant risk to lose all the money that way. This is why cryptos are not mainstream, people want a guarantee on their money.

I think it's a huge difference between forex and crypto, but i'll have to try. On cryptos it's easy to track news, for example i know MAID safe is on testnet 7 or 8 and i know it's price will explode prior release. MAID team is so close to banking it finally that i don't think anything badly can happen to it. So this bet is pretty tight, i don't think you can have so sure bet in forex, or can you?!

Key is to hunt for panic sells, huge dips, but on crypto you have this extra ensurance that you know for example MAID will do it's thing if you miss the timing on one dip you don't care, you simply wait till it goes up again.

I think i will take out my money as im afraid it might get hacked in the future, but if you're not afraid of future hack i can run your account for percentage, you set 2 step authentication so i cannot do any harm by withdraws and will build your account. And i can continue posting here on the progress and i hope you have a lot of coins it would be exciting to trade with 50 BTC* 2.5 margin woooohooooo :)

Well, good luck with Forex. Make sure that you open account with a right broker. There is a 2 types of brokers. with one of them your trading NEVER will be a succesfull, it is called Dealing desk. DD is s company which making money from every deposit which you transfer to them. The second one is broker with real ECN account, they will provide you access to real market.

How to know is it DD or real broker?
Real broker:
-only bank or credit card transfer
-acc starts from 3000$
-commision for every trade (NOT spread!)
-serious verification like your id, residence certificate, proof of your income

Dealing desk:
-transfer money anyway you can - webmmoney, paypal, etc
-acc starts from 10$
-no comm for trade, only spread
-fast and easy verification...just your email is fine :))

I know only 2 real brokers - FXCM (3000$ minimum) and Interactive brokers (10000$ minimum).

Different is huge. Forex is a industry with a thousands of full time proffessional traders who spending their lifes to sharp a skill of taking money from noobs pockets. If you pay a lot of attention to structure analisys like I do you can find a lot of cases of stop hunting. It is part of this game and it is really frustrating.

Cryptotrades is much more young market with big potential just because here is not really a lot of big guys. As for me the most important thing is that the market here is still respect structure levels support and resistance. In forex it is respecting as well, but movement is not so predictable in my opinion

Mining and "investing" in cloud mining is completely different things. Mining is when you buy devices (ASICs or GPU) to support the network like I do in ETH. After that your profit depends of price on electricity, network difficulty and rate of your currency. "Investing" in cloud mining depends on how long this scheme will be exist :)) It is a 100% scam from the begining! It is very easy to calculate - cloud mining promise you profit up to  20% a month by "rent" their ASICs to mine BTC, but if you buy ASIC by yourself you will return below 1% in a month or even get debit :)) It can be profitable if you have free or peanuts price electric

There are a lot of broker that offers ECN account . Go on FPA (www.forexpeacearmy.com) and read review about.   Hotforex and Exness are good on ECN account

not necessarily, all small brokers and Dealing desk is bad . if you use tight stop loss, they hunt you stop loss, buth if you learn to trade without panic when you order go in large dip, -10 000 %, or more , it is posibly to trade. For exemple is totaly diferent if you use leverage 1:10 or 1: 500 ,  
forex its excellent for learn all trending techniques. If someone expect easy money, that not happen. forex punish greedy instantly. first for novice use only smallest lot possible (micro lot) after hundreds trade, and few monts, only then you will see results. forex is all abut to make more sucess trade then losing trade.

High leverage is near Gambling  :-\ . I usually trade from 10 to 200x (200x only on major and not near Market data relese). Also i think that if you want to trade on forex you need to fix not less than 30 pips for each stop loss.

When i closed my big position at 194 yesterday i just decided to buy back in slowly because i think ETH will go back to 022 and that ETC will slowly but surely die out.

Yeah agree buying ethereum right now is risky because i think they are still halving issue about the hackers.. ETC is second created by ethereum.

In about 2 weeks Devcon 2 is starting, ETH is the main star there, sponsored by Microsoft. I think this event will bring ETH closer to OKcoin but also to the Chinese market generaly.

Whole ETH team along with Vitalik said they support ETH and not ETC. Even if ETC gets bigger chain as a result of greedy miners they won't accept it.
All major projects that are currently under development stated that they are on ETH chain.
ETH team might soon dump a large quantity of ETC, if they do it publicly this would be a great statement.
PoS is underway, being tested and so far results say it's doing good, ETC community seems split when it comes to Casper. ETH doesn't contain hacker full of funds like ETC does.

I have been shorting DASH because it looked unrealisticly high for me, as i mentioned before. So i don't think it will go to 40, only if BTC goes down even further then it is not and which i don't think it will.
DASH has great community behind it, great governance and low inflation which will make it more and more valuable but this kind of rises from 10 to 14 are too much, i think unrealistic, combination of good news which caused PUMP.

I don't believe ETC will survive. I keep hearing "ETC is just few weeks old, that's why it doesn't have any projects" but this argument is just weak. ETC is as old as ETH is, and out of 20 serious projects all 20 decided to go to ETH chain where whole ETH team is and this is game over for ETC.
Price of ETC will keep dropping as new projects rise on ETH chain, for example this weak Gnosis is coming to ETH.
Then BTC price is low ATM, when it gets up, ETC will fall drasticly.
Then, in 2 weeks hacker will be able to use his 7 million ETC, my guess is he will dump it because its way to risky to hold ETC and hope for a bigger price than it has ATM.
Then switch to PoS which might or not which might split the ETC community again...etc etc..

I love the "dont be greedy" part. I am one to talk because the greediness wont get away from me. When I see price increasing there is this thinking that it may increase more which is wrong always in my part.

I love lisk, almost half of my entire budget is in Lisk, i really believe it will be revolutionary.


Oh yesss, greed part is so important. I sell pretty fast so a lot of times i see higher price after selling and sometimes regret it like when i sold MAID right before release. But early sell saved me so many times when the price started dropping after my sell that im aware that every profit is great and i will continue selling pretty fast.

Agree completely about Monero looking overbought here, although I quite like the tech behind it. I set up a short Monero, long Maid trade earlier today, so let's see how this plays out for me

I have made 20 btc profit on ETC, it is a great to buy ETC now, the white hat hackers funds are monitred and frozen when they try to dump in an exchange, same with hacker ETC also, the best way for hacker will be to wait for an year or more until there is ETC mixing services and cashout. ETH has reversed funds on blockchain and frozen/blacklist funds etc, same like what ripple did, and ripple crashed and price fell to 1/10th the price after few months. right now ETC is in floor price, i expect ETC to go to atleast 0.01 soon :-)

Im reading so many different coins, and I lost track of this topic after couple pages. What OP recommend to buy now, don't talk about lisk and eth or etc, this are expensive coins. Is there some new coin with potentially good future? I'm not sure where to put money in which coin, there is so many and I didn't follow alt coin section for a while.

Currently im into a difficult situation with Monero, i shorted it to early, but this alone wouldn't be a problem if i had more funds later to short it in a right time again but since i was deep into ETH i couldnt do it. One stupid news in Monero about it being accepted on one dark marked triggered a PUMP which caught me out of guard. This is my lesson learned, i will never ever short any coin because you never know if the pump is comming along with a good news.

I also take big hit with shorting monero when it was pumped. Recovery will be slow but even bad days sometimes happend.

Yeah, you cannot predict a pump and i have decided not to short again after i get out of this one, it's too dangerous.

The August is about to end and still we do not see any spike in the bitcoin prices. I must say that since the DAO attack Etherum has been divided into two chains ETH and ETC and this division is not giving full benefits to its Users and price is unable to fly like it was doing before the hack.

ETH, ETC, DAO... Don't get me wrong, but I have the impression that none of them are going anywhere. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I think the Ethereum price is stablising at the moment. It could rise a lot in the next few weeks when people are more confident in it.

How about WAY? I bought a lot of it from yobit with just 30 a piece. Now it is at 60+ satoshis. I did something wrong when it came at 35 I already withdrew at that same day. I thought it wont get more. But I was wrong. That is an opportunity to create a lot of bitcoin. Hurts.
