Post by: hassan2901 on September 04, 2016, 05:33:41 AM
I have Accidentally deposited BTC from my wallet to my poloniex USDT wallet address there a way i can get back my coins? I have already opened the support ticket which has not been answered yet but the Mod on their troll box is saying that recovery is not possible

Can anyone help on this matter?
Easy - just send it back.  If you have the private key of the USDT address, then it is a bitcoin address and it holds both bitcoin and USDT.  just do a bitcoin transaction to send bitcoin and sign it with the USDT private key.

If you don't know how to do that, then just import the USDT private key into your favorite wallet.  BAM~ you bitcoin will be there after it syncs.

Poloniex will definitely fix this.  Those bitcoin are not lost.  The troll box was probably just some asshole messing with you.

Their support is preety active and max time to respond keep changing with number of open support tickets. Wait upto 48 hour before sending another support ticket.

I Haven't known that USDT address are just like bitcoin address and the private key of USDT address can be used to do normal bitcoin transaction however you can't get private key of your USDT deposit address in poloniex so you have to wait till support replies, hope you will get your bitcoin backs or get it deposited in your account.

maybe you still need to waiting in some few days or if until 3 days you've got no answer then you can send support ticket to poloniex. the support system is very late to respond the ticket but they are helping their member and give the best solutions for the member. just waiting for a while.

USDT uses the same conversion and checksum of the publickey->address  as bitcoin .
so a keypair for USDT is the same as bitcoin

EG
Private 5abcde -> public 1zxywv for USDT
is also 5abcde -> 1zxywv for bitcoin

poloniex can simply copy USDT private key for public address 1zxywv.. put it into a bitcoin wallet to then see the bitcoin balance of 1zxywv
then poloniex can move the funds back to sender or an address OP desires.

Troll box is an open chat Poloniex is hosting.  unless the account is official poloniex account it means as much as what we say here. (somewhat helpful but not definitive)

I understand that the OP response won't change much.
I am waiting for Poloniex's response to the ticket I opened yesterday but as I am in the same situation as the OP I was just curious to know.

Well yeah, the only thing you could do is wait for a response from Poloniex's support.
Be persistent(nag) them It usually helps.  :P

As for OP I don't think you'll get a reply, looks like a throwaway account. Two post total. Just for this thread.
Though I don't really know why he even felt the need to make one. Well, maybe his alt/main acc will see.

Anyway, do keep us posted on what happens. Seeing as OP didn't bother to update.  :P :P

You should lock this thread if you consider the issue resolved, or at least edit the title so it doesn't waste the time of anybody that clicks on it.

Hi xxx,

Thank you for getting in touch and sorry for the delay.

You have actually sent your BTC to your USDT address. You can not send one type of crypto-currency to another type of crypto-currency's address -- these are not compatible and must first be exchanged. Only BTC can be sent to a BTC address and USDT to an USDT address. Not doing this can result in a permanent loss of your funds.

On this occasion however I have managed to recover your funds and these should appear as an incoming BTC transaction shortly. You can view this deposit below:

Xxx

Please ensure to always double check the deposit address before sending funds in the future. If I can be of any further assistance on this matter please do not hesitate to let me know by simply replying to this ticket.

Best regards,

Kevin

They have amazing support and super reliable, I got the same mistake also when send my BTC to an invalid address,
luckily because its an invalid one it wasn't confirmed after 24 hours of waiting and that's the time i canceled my transactions, an email come to my support email containing notice that i didn't confirmed my transaction because its invalid.
Even those little mistakes of mine and even if its just a little amount of BTC, they provide proper and good support to each customer.

Do you own the address? Simple export your BCH private-key, create an account at Omniwallet.org (http://Omniwallet.org) and import your address. You will be able to see and spend your coins.

If you don't, contact the service that does own the address.

No. Sometimes it's too much work for them to bother on helping you.

The warning are clear and if they don't want to help you, then your coins are gone. There is no other way for you to recover them.

To which Tether wallet have you deposited your Bitcoins? Does it offer you an option to export your private keys? If it does, simple export your private key and import it in a Bitcoin wallet like Electrum.

No. Only the service (in this case Poloniex) has access to the address private-key, and consequently, is the only one that can recover your BCH. Some exchanges will help you if you do this kind of mistake, others will charge you a fee and some won't even bother to help you. I'm not sure what is Poloniex policy in this about this subject, so you will need to wait for them to answer your ticket and pray for a solution.

Dear friends, this forum helped me a lot, I had exactly the same problem and I opened a ticket #605357 at Poloniex and they answered me and solved the problem in 5 days, follow the support email! I already received all the funds!

I recovered

TXID

The amount is being sent to your Poloniex BTC wallet.

Please be very careful when sending cryptocurrencies, in most cases they will be lost permanently if sent to a address of a different coin. Please let me know should you have any further questions.

Poloniex does not not deal with fiat currencies (Money/ Cash/ USD/ EUR/ ect)

Tether (USDT) is a cryptocoin that is pegged to the US Dollar for more information you can go to : https://tether.to/

If you have USD (not the same as USDT) or any other type of fiat (Money) you would need to find a trusted exchange that deals with fiat currencies, exchange it into BTC (or another coin that is also on our exchange) then send the cryptocurrency to its corresponding wallet on our exchange.

If you have USDT (Not the same as USD) already then you simply send your USDT to your USDT deposit address.

Do not send USD to a USDT address, or USDT to a USD address.

Sincerely,
Poloniex Support Team

I have same problem i just send USDT from Poloniex to BTC Paxful wallet, and poloniex support, say that they cannot help, here is what they answer:

Cooper (Poloniex)
Jan 24, 10:13 AM GMT

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out!

We can see that your USDT withdrawal has completed. You can verify this information by using this block explorer link:
https://www.omniexplorer.info/tx/a578335f644d8e3875f5af78966f139c8f032d605987b97a5672e7711a1beeb2

If you do not see this transaction appear in the wallet you sent to, please contact the receiving wallet's support team and provide the above link as proof of the transaction so they can locate the funds on their site.

Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, it means the funds are out of Poloniex's control. Neither a refund nor an address correction is possible. This behavior is by design and executed by the network itself (not Poloniex) to ensure proper security for all parties involved. Always use caution while sending as some scenarios may result in the total loss of your funds.

If you have any other questions about this, please feel free to respond to this message and we will be happy to help.

If anybody knows can we just do something or it is already all

The one that you should contact is Paxful not Poloniex as it's where your USDT is.

The major problem however is they have a previous post about not recovering wrongly sent coins, specifically BCH sent to BTC;
Here's the post: https://twitter.com/raypaxful/status/988624672529858560 (https://twitter.com/raypaxful/status/988624672529858560)

Sorry but no one can help you out to expedite the process of the request that you've sent them. They've already given you words that it might take weeks before they resolve the concern that you have raised to them.

You only have to wait until they resolve the issue and give back your funds. And as they say, the only thing that you can do aside from waiting is to follow up your ticket.

Hi again,  today iş the 9th day. How long am ı need to wait :(  is anybody may give me some advice please ? :(
Sorry but no one can help you out to expedite the process of the request that you've sent them. They've already given you words that it might take weeks before they resolve the concern that you have raised to them.

You only have to wait until they resolve the issue and give back your funds. And as they say, the only thing that you can do aside from waiting is to follow up your ticket.

Thank you for your reply. I already understund that I need to wait .  But I dont understand that normally they solve issue maximum 4-5 days. I read some post about of it.

Buy in my issue it takes more days. I only want to know why  ı am waiting more then the others.

Thanks
Maybe it's because of the volume of inquiries that they're getting. In other exchanges, they reply as immediately as they can but they put a disclaimer that they may not able to reply quickly because of a lot of inquiries that they have to address.

But it wouldn't hurt if you're going to follow up your concern and that might get their attention in solving your issue with the timeframe that they've given to you.

You're welcome. Yes, that's what you have to do right now, to wait.

There's no one that can help you here though but only give you advice that I have said the same. Cheer up, they'll get on you once they have you on the queue.

The problem is: the Bitcoin network doesn't have power over an Exchange and as previously mentioned, they are the only one who can recover your wrongly sent funds.

With that, you can only check the status of your ticket by replying to the support using your Polionex account's email (or if they have a ticket status page or something, use it).
A follow-up after 3 months+ is reasonable enough.
