Title: Which cryptocurrency is the fastest?
Post by: Abiky on March 17, 2017, 11:01:41 PM
As Bitcoin becomes slower each day in transaction confirmation time, other alternatives could prove to become useful for everyday transactions. Cryptocurrencies like Litecoin, Dogecoin, and even Ethereum have faster transaction confirmation time allowing you to send and receive coins at a hassle-free way.

Thus, among the wide variety of altcoins, many have block times which are near instantaneous. Based on these facts, which cryptocurrencies do you consider the fastest?

I would appreciate if you would list it or them here.  :)

Dash has InstantSend, which is about 2 seconds and gives you 4 confirmations on a transaction.
It also has that transaction locked to prevent double-spending.

Yes. It is one of my favorite cryptocurrencies because of this feature. I'm not sure if there would exist a much faster cryptocurrency, but so far it seems like Dash has the lead. It also has a block size limit of 2MB in contrast to Bitcoin, with its never ending block size debate.  ::)

I think so too. Especially for micropayments, as it makes it an ideal cryptocurrency to tip others. Due to its inexpensive nature, it is very easy to obtain, allowing anyone to get into it and learn more about cryptocurrencies.  :)

FastCoin is quickly becoming the biggest internet sensation since Bitcoin.  Merchants are quickly realizing the benefits of Crypto Currencies and FastCoin is one of the special Crypto coin’s which makes this technology practical to use in everyday commerce.  FastCoin is currently THE FASTEST Complete Transacting Crypto currency in the world, without sacrificing security!  Our engineers were able to develop a 12 sec per block transacting coin which is ideally suited for today’s time sensitive needs.  As the general public slowly realizes the benefits of Bitcoin, early adopters of Crypto currencies will quickly understand the value in the role that time plays, specifically when conducting everyday transactions.

12 seconds per block is the fastest? I thought there was something quicker.  I'm not sure why 12 seconds would offer a big advantage when it's barely faster than ethereum.

I don't think you can jump to conclusion that this one is the fastest, most of these tokens are used on exchanges and no real world use. If they start to have the real world use like Bitcoin, I will say they are the fastest.

its hard to say one coin is the fastest but i think for the answer is only bitcoin that got this because we can see bitcoin price is really up and down to often. for the altcoin, since there is many altcoin list, then we need to see how good the altcoin movement in the market and how big the volume of the altcoin but still its hard to say and choose one coins.

STEEM has a 2 second block time.

Each blog post, comment and vote is also a transaction on the blockchain so it is already processing major tx volumes.

STEEM also has zero transaction fees too btw.

@everyone Thanks for sharing these altcoins with fast block speeds. They would become very useful if adopted by major merchants and businesses worldwide. I've read that BitShares is capable of handling up to 100,000 TPS which makes it very ideal to handle large transaction volume. Also, it has a block time of 1 second which makes it confirm almost instantly.

You can check out BTS performance info: https://bitshares.org/technology/industrial-performance-and-scalability/ (https://bitshares.org/technology/industrial-performance-and-scalability/)

MINT is 30 second block time, transactions are fully confirmed and re-spendable again after 2 minutes.

Great! I've heard a lot about MINT, and it has been one of the Proof of Stake currencies that has grabbed my attention. I used to have some MINT before, but I had to sell them out, as I needed the BTC. Still, I'll be willing to go back into it since it is a truly unique PoS coin, which doesn't require you to leave the wallet open 24/7 to receive stakes.  ;D

Why do you lock a transaction? Does the chain accept two of the same signatures? Stupid design.

Bitcoin's Lighting Network will be the fastest.
Maybe Ethereum's Raiden Network aswell.

I played with manually decreasing transaction fee in my BTC transaction and it took some of my nerves and 2-3 days to clear. Not the best experience. And the fee was pretty heavy, to my mind.

I am quite satisfied with Eth speed, 14-15 seconds for 1 block and using the standard ...42 Eth it clears pretty and fast enough for me. Don't really see the need for insta or 1-2 seconds transactions, in my case.

It is sort of exciting and scaring of the coming BTC fork stuff, but I guess it is better be done sooner than later. I am for the Core team ;D

InstantSend is realized off chain and then committed to the chain in the next block.
It's actually similar to what Lightning network should do on Bitcoin blockchain.

Maybe Ethereum's Raiden Network aswell.

Yes. These solutions will greatly enhance transaction capacity to the aforementioned cryptocurrencies, making them faster than ever. Still, the Lightning Network would require a scalable solution to become widely accepted first (like SegWit), to become into effect and increase confirmation speeds for Bitcoin. I'm not sure if Ethereum's Raiden network is the same, but up until now, there are better cryptocurrencies out there with faster (and almost instant) transactions between users.

I believe that until Bitcoin gets either proposed solutions approved, other alternative cryptocurrencies might take the advantage by delivering blazing fast speeds when it comes to transacting, making them the ideal choice for everyday transactions and micropayments. Just my thoughts.

By the way, I'm mostly looking for instant cryptocurrencies (like Dash). If anyone knows of any other altcoin that assimilates Dash's instant transaction speeds, feel free to share it here.  :)

NEM is the fastest where it actually runs at those speeds, but it's  part of Mijin/Catapult and still in the testing phase yet and has not been implemented into the NEM chain.   There's more to a coin than simply speed, it also has to have security, and good wallets that are easy to use, among other things.

After looking at creditbit, it's pretty barebones and I can't really invest in something that was in Established in December, 2105....

Well, is 220milli-seconds fast enough for a confirmed transaction?
Radix does this, and its Open Beta and ICO will be scheduled in the next month or so.

The speed above was on a testnet spread out from Lithuanian to San Francisco and Vancouver Canada and South Africa, also South America.
And of course UK and Europe where Fuserleer lives. Also, these speeds are confirmed by a youtube video that was taken.

I've heard a lot about NEM and its proposed solutions towards making it faster and capable of handling high transaction load. Once Mijin becomes implemented into the NEM chain, transactions would become a lot faster than nowadays, giving it a higher advantage than other altcoins.

This one would be good to invest into for the long term, as prices could skyrocket once the testing phase for Mijin is over.

On the other hand, CreditBit is a great cryptocurrency too and running as an ETH token would make it more robust and faster than ever. But still, I believe that NEM has better development and innovation. Just my opinion.  :)

Correct. DigiByte is extremely fast, which makes it very ideal for micropayments and mainstream transactions. Their latest SegWit implementation and block size increase over the years, will make this coin the perfect one to handle payments of any kind with no stress unlike Bitcoin.

It is one of my favorite cryptocurrencies, although I'm still comparing different altcoins to see which one is the fastest.

Ark is the fastest that I have used to far, it has a 6 second block time. Decred are upgrading to Lightning network soon so that will also be one of the fastest.

Decred has been one of the most truly democratic cryptocurrencies out there, in my own opinion. While Bitcoin has been struggling to reach consensus for SegWit adoption, Decred is one step ahead of it by providing true governance which would make decisions to improve the network a much faster and efficient one.

Right now, it is fast in handling transactions but with the upgrade to the Lightning Network, it would become blazingly fast at near instant speeds.

As for Ark, it is also one of the fastest cryptocurrencies out there with a huge potential. It's roadmap looks promising and may change the cryptocurrency ecosystem for the better. Just my thoughts. ;D

When urged I used to use Dogecoin to make fast transactions.

Well, Dogecoin is one of the fastest cryptocurrencies in the market making it extremely convenient for quick payments and micro transactions.

However, there are some altcoins which are a lot faster than Dogecoin delivering near instant speeds for hassle-free payments around the world. There are 3 coins which are fast and are among my favorite altcoin list. Those are Fastcoin, Ark, and Worldcoin. With them, you would be able to make payments without having to worry about slow confirmation times unlike Bitcoin.

While the DOGE is a well established altcoin, and serves its purpose well for tipping and micropayments, it lacks development and innovation, making it stand behind other altcoins which have better features and promising technology.

I'm hoping that someday in the future, a new altcoin would come around with zero block time, having instant speeds for transaction confirmation. Just my thoughts. ;D

I heard that BitBean is pretty fast. Never tried though, don't own it, seems a tiny bit silly to me :) Dogecoin was pretty silly at the start too, with that meme. And what do you mean by using Doge for your transactions? You move BTC to it, then send, and then back to BTC, for instance? Quite new to this world, just trying to understand.

Still hoping that we can see that dogecoin can be more develop and increase value .since its one of the oldest altcoin that still the alive for a long time. for now the movement of the price is really stable but theres a little bit increase the value but still in cheap price..

Exactly. Dogecoin has many benefits like: faster transactions, cheaper fees, and relatively low value making it an extremely convenient cryptocurrency for anyone who would like to get started with it, or just use it for daily payments.

So even though, there is no active development for Dogecoin, there are still people who use it, along with a community that it is actively supporting it, and that is what really matters. As long as it remains alive with nodes and miners around, the DOGE would survive for many years to come.

I could imagine a Dogecoin 2.0 in the future, if someone becomes interested in improving its codebase. Things like a new logo design, along with SegWit, limited supply, and other improvements would make Dogecoin an awesome cryptocurrency for anyone to use. Just sharing my thoughts. ;D

ETH is very fast fast coin is fast but has no market or volume and no one care about it, also being fast isn't always good, because more fast is equal to more orphan, some coin mitigate this with a better diff retarget

You are not looking for speed alone.  The fastest that you will find is a newly created coin, the rewards will pop and the coins will fly provided that you are backing yourself with a node or some mining.  You need there to be some value in the coin also and you need there to be a place to exchange that coin or use it to purchase items.  Your thread has actually brought an interesting thought to mind.

Perhaps we can use 1-5 factors, like speed, value, and usability to create a numeric gauge for coins.  The factors could be compiled and the data used to give the coins a score from 1-100.  Then, the people here at the forum can take over the idea, use the data to manipulate the markets and to push the coins they like and abuse the ones they don't  ;D

Yeah. Ethereum Classic is a fast altcoin too, allowing anyone to send/receive transactions in a convenient way without having to wait hours or days for them to confirm. I believe that any cryptocurrency would be faster than Bitcoin nowadays, since they don't have the same user base and load as the latter.

However, the day will come when other altcoins face the same issue as Bitcoin in terms of scalability when they become widely used in the mainstream world. Take a look at Ethereum for example, where it has experienced bad network performance due to the recent ICOs.

Nevertheless, the faster a cryptocurrency is, the more transaction throughput it might be able to receive, making it easier for mainstream adoption. Up until now, the fastest alts are Bitshares, Ark, Fastcoin, and Litecoin. Just my thoughts. ;D

When urged I used to use Dogecoin to make fast transactions.
I agree . The same as me, I often use dogecoin for each of my transactions the reason is not only a fast transaction but a cheap fee as well
as for personal used i guess i can say doge is really fast and do have a much lower fee, i use it when I'm doing some arbs between exchange as i send doge instead of btc then exchange it up to buy the alts that i'm aiming to take advantage it works for me and chances to make some good profits happen hopefully all or most of the project will act the same with doge.

I tried for arbitrage once with coins like Komodo & Sexcoin, but it takes days for these coins to transfer from one exchange to another. What do you do to become successful in arbitrage?

FastCoin is quickly becoming the biggest internet sensation since Bitcoin.
Really? With a $16k marketcap?

After few transactions with BTC , got sick of slow and expensive transactions.
Did not know about the fast transactions of Dash but since Dash is not supported widely , right now im using litecoin, so far - good.

i think yes that is right to say that ways is the fastest currency as compare to other fiat currency, i think the transaction process is one of the fastest as compare to other crypto currencies as well as even if we compare it to bitcoin it is more faster than bitcoin transaction and i think now the popularity  of waves is therefore increasing too much.

Just about any coin or token is faster than Bitcoin.  I think most altcoins are pretty quick with confirmations.  Some exchanges require more confirmations for certain coins so it still slows down the deposits.

XMR had been extremely fastest whenever I used to send them for my gambling purposes or lower fee transactions because when the fee per Bitcoin transaction was high, I always used to choose altcoins and mainly XMR because it helps process the transaction fast and with lowest fee per transaction as well as its mixing feature helps me remain completely anonymous on other hand. Its price is still cheap and so is the fee, but as of now I am using Bitcoins back because after SegWit, the fee structure has settled down way too much that I am all fine to even pay a $1 while transacting.

If you ask which vehicle is the fastest, you will probably going to list some super and hyper cars, but if you ask which vehicle is the fastest for the warfare defense it provides, you will end up with military tanks. So to be just fast has no meaning when you are in a hostile trustless cyberwar like environment. You need to compute the time propagating the transaction in the entire network, then the time on mining queue, the time to mine, then the time to reach consensus and propagating the validations on the network again and this is just the latency calculation, them there is the calculation on the level of protection you get from mining difficult to the number of validations confirmed and even the number of blocks mined after your transaction. So if you need just fast you will find out that centralized non permissive non blockchain solutions are the fastest and them you go to a wide range of options up to bitcoin which is the safest. What you care most ?

Thanks for sharing this useful resource, mate. According to the article, the fastest cryptocurrencies to date are Bitshares, Ripple, and Stellar. Bitshares takes the lead since block time is just 2 seconds, while Ripple takes 4 seconds, followed by Stellar/Lumens with 5 seconds. It's amazing to see such results since, there are many cryptocurrencies which are often slow in processing transactions. One good example is Bitcoin, which takes hours for a transaction to become fully confirmed by the network. However, once the Lightning Network becomes implemented, it'll be much faster than the above altcoins since speeds will be instant.

Using a cryptocurrency which is instant in block time, has a huge advantage over sending money around the world. Also, having little to no fees, is extremely beneficial as it improves the crypto economy. There's a cryptocurrency called NANO which is lightning fast and has zero fees. Therefore, fast and cheap cryptocurrencies are the future. Just my opinion :)

Any blockchain or DAG system has problems with scaling. While the number of participants in the network is small, limitation of transaction speed is not noticeable. But when it comes to the global market, it becomes obvious that blockchain or DAG systems can't cope with such transaction volumes.

Completely agree with you, mate. Right now, EOS is just a mere ERC-20 token that lives within the Ethereum blockchain. However, when it becomes released by June, and able to deliver as promised, it will be the fastest cryptocurrency in existence to date. I've seen that EOS will be capable of handling 1,000,000 TPS which makes it far more superior than any cryptocurrency in existence today. It will also be capable of surpassing Visa and MasterCard's TPS allowing EOS to become highly used in the mainstream world.

Nevertheless, only time will tell which cryptocurrency will remain the fastest. As far as I'm aware, Bitcoin's Lightning Network will be able to provide instant transactions which will prove to be the fastest cryptocurrency in existence. Other altcoins that will adopt the Lightning Network, will experience the same benefits in speed as BTC. Lastly, Dash also has instant speeds when its "Instant Send" feature is used. Just my thoughts ;D

Yeah. Most altcoins nowadays are ultra-fast in transaction processing times when compared to Bitcoin. With altcoins such as Litecoin, Waves, Ark, Ripple, Stellar, and Bitshares, transactions could get settle from a few seconds to just a few minutes. On the other hand, transactions on Bitcoin's ledger are extremely slow and take hours before they become fully confirmed on the network. As such, I believe that altcoins will become the top choice for anyone who's looking to send money in a fast and cheap way.

Right now, the fastest cryptocurrencies are Bitshares, Ripple, ARK, and Stellar, but once Bitcoin's Lightning Network becomes active and highly adopted in the mainstream world, then Bitcoin would become the fastest cryptocurrency in existence with near-instant speeds in transaction processing time. No one is the fastest, it all depends on the transaction volume at the time that your transaction went through and if the transactions volumes increases then the transaction times become slower and transaction fees will increase. They all have their good times and their bad times and in bull markets, the coins and their transactions becomes slower due to increased transactions

That's certainly true, mate. It's hard to know with certainty which cryptocurrency is the fastest, since many factors can determine their speed. Factors such as a lot of users making transactions on a ledger, can dampen the speed of a cryptocurrency and make fees rise to the moon. This is happening with Bitcoin right now, where it once stood to be fast since it didn't have a lot of users transacting in its ledger. The moment Bitcoin became adopted in the mainstream world, was such were transaction speeds became slower and fees higher.

Therefore, such situations could happen with any cryptocurrency nowadays, even those who claim that are the fastest in existence. Depending on the load, will be their speed to process transactions within a given amount of time. Things aside, I think that Ripple, Stellar, and Bitshares could remain fast as they have higher capacity in transaction throughput than many cryptocurrencies we know and love today. Just my thoughts ;D

about cryptocurency is fastes transaction and confirmation
i think is the best dogecoin , and dogecoin is very low fee sending too, so is enjoy use dogecoin

I think so too. Especially for micropayments, as it makes it an ideal cryptocurrency to tip others. Due to its inexpensive nature, it is very easy to obtain, allowing anyone to get into it and learn more about cryptocurrencies.  :)
Yes, we have the same opinion and experince that dogecoin is one of the fastest coin. I have enjoyed it in using this coin since I have joined in crypto activitities. I think there should be a general regulation relating to crypto transactions to improve service to crypto users.

The key here is not only speed in transactions but also user-friendliness to promote usage of the cryptocurrency. So far, I haven't had any troubles using XLM for my daily transactions. However, the issue you've mentioned needs to be addressed to prevent loss of funds by even the most non-tech savvy person.

Despite this, there's no doubt that XLM is among the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence today. Since it's similar to Ripple's XRP cryptocurrency, transactions settle within seconds using the least amount of energy possible (unlike Bitcoin). :)

In my opinion is NANO , this coin has faster and no fee transaction. Beside NANO others coin is DASH, WAVES and DGB. And more others project want solved about scalability issue like ZIL and this is good thing for development of blockchain technology so will be much better for many industry.

Agree. NANO is probably the fastest cryptocurrency in existence alongside Stellar and Ripple. As transactions settle instantly and without fees, I think that there's a bright future for NANO. It could easily be used for micropayments or nearly anything you could think off without having to worry about fees or waiting for hours to get your transaction confirmed. Being a DAG cryptocurrency, I think that this technology has the potential of replacing Blockchain 1.0 cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin in the long term.

However, only time will tell whenever these cryptocurrencies could become popular and adopted by the mainstream world. Just my opinion :)

There is no doubt that Ethereum is extremely fast when compared to Bitcoin and most cryptocurrencies in existence. However, it can sometimes become extremely slow due to high network load. The CryptoKitties dApp, has made the Ethereum network very slow, due to its popularity in the mainstream world. As such, even if Ethereum is fast, that speed would be reduced according to the number of users on its network.

This usually applies to nearly any cryptocurrency in existence, no matter which technology does it have. Until today, I haven't seen a cryptocurrency which is infinitely scalable (or has unlimited scalability). Any coin no matter how fast it is, will eventually become slow as more people join its network. Which is why I believe that until a new cryptocurrency comes in with unlimited scalability, the level of adoption of cryptocurrencies in the mainstream world would stale.

Nevertheless, there are still a few cryptocurrencies (aside from Ethereum) which are extremely fast. Usually the ones with DAG technology are the fastest including (but not limited to): NANO, IOTA, and ByteBall. There's a newly announced coin called Hedera Hashgraph which claims to be far superior than Bitcoin and Ethereum in terms of scalability. According to their technology, it could be an extremely fast cryptocurrency once released. Just my thoughts ;D

In my opinion this is an etherium. When one contract sends an internal transaction to the account address of another contract, the corresponding code prescribed in the recipient contract is executed.

I do not know which one is the fastest. I don't think cryptocurrencies need to be too fast either. Ultimately it can only achieve 1 second transmission. It seems that the SEELE of blockchain 4.0 is the fastest. However, the current market value is not as good as Ethereum, and the gap is too great.

Do you think like me?
I think DGB is the fastest

Yes. DGB is one of the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence, simply because it has a lower block time than Bitcoin and it has implemented various scalability upgrades such as SegWit and LN. Since DigiByte is a cryptocurrency designed for micropayments, it's no wonder why it’s extremely fast. However, it's one of the most undervalued cryptocurrencies in existence to date.

Another extremely fast cryptocurrency would be NEM. It's like NXT in features and provides smart contract capabilities with its API. One of its unique features is called Delegated Harvesting where you could virtually "stake" your coins without leaving your wallet open 24/7. I believe that it could have a lot of potential in the mainstream world, as a multi-purpose cryptocurrency for micropayments, dApps, and more. :)

Awesome. With a 1 second block time, I think that this cryptocurrency called SEELE is the fastest in existence to date. Everything about it seems great, except that it doesn't have much marketing/promotion (as far as I'm aware). It could experience a greater boost in price, as soon as people recognizes its true potential over the long term. On the other hand, there's another fast cryptocurrency called CREDITS which claims to process millions of transactions per second. Whenever this is true or not, it's yet to be seen on the stable release of the mainnet.  ::)

Yes. Ethereum and Dogecoin are extremely fast cryptocurrencies for everyday transactions. While Ethereum often becomes slow, due to high network load because of ICOs, Dogecoin on the other hand, is always fast and responsive, making your transactions settle within a few minutes. What's most attractive of DOGE is that fees are negligible, and speeds are blazing fast, making it ideal for quick transfers or micropayments across the globe.

However, there are other cryptocurrencies which are much faster than ETH and DOGE. This is because they have adopted new technologies, that allows them to scale and reduce network load. Such coins are DAG-based ones such as NANO and IOTA, as well as, BFT-based ones like Ripple and Stellar. Transactions in these coins are processed within seconds, and fees are zero in DAG-based coins. Therefore, the future lies in cryptocurrencies capable of delivering massive TPS at unparalleled speeds while at the same time, providing minuscule fees to its users. Just my thoughts ;D

If you are talking theoretical speeds, plenty of networks are lining up to claim their network can perform 1000000tx/s.
In terms of proven speeds and tx/s, XRP handles the highest TX/S at the most volume. This isn't up for debate, it has one of the highest volumes and is in large scale use - as much use as the top currencies, bitcoin, ethereum and litecoin. No other coin comes near the volume and speed of XRP.
Next would be XLM, but I'm not sure they have even had a single 24hr period of >$1bn volume.

Agree. XRP is the fastest "cryptocurrency" to date due to its consensus algorithm and level of centralization. Also, it's very cheap to send money with XRP, but it's biggest downside is that it's extremely centralized. On the other hand, XLM was created by the same founder of XRP (McCaleb), and it has many similarities of XRP. It's fast too, with dirt cheap fees just like its predecessor. Best of all, it's decentralized which is a huge plus if anyone wants to use an alternative to XRP which has the same value proposition of most cryptocurrencies in existence.

Despite this, there are other cryptocurrencies which are proven to be fast in TPS. They're mostly DAG-based cryptocurrencies such as IOTA, NANO, and ByteBall, which can provide zero-fees and near-instant transactions because there are no miners on the network. Some call them the next-generation of cryptocurrencies due to their high scalability. However, for them to become scalable, people would need to use them, as DAG-based cryptocurrencies are based this way. The more usage there is, the better, as the network would perform faster than ever. Therefore, the speed of a cryptocurrency depends on its specs, and the network load it's experiencing when handling transactions from people in the mainstream world. Just my thoughts ;D

I think XRP is by far the fastest crypto thanks to its consensus algorithm, Its one of the fastest means of  sending money and its almost a guarantee that you will not experience any delays whatsoever. The main concern however is the level of centralization, The biggest asset a crypto can ever have is being decentralized, XRP is way too centralized , This has turned the favor to Ethereum's direction,as the coin is also fast, but also very decentralized

There's no doubt in that, mate. Ripple is one of the most fastest cryptocurrencies to date, probably because of its consensus mechanism, and centralized nature. It's a real-time settlement system, which doesn't require miners or stakers, being extremely efficient in terms of speed and energy consumption. However, it can easily become manipulated by central authorities since it's controlled by a single entity. That's the downside of it, which is why I believe that decentralized cryptocurrencies (despite being much slower than centralized counterparts) will prevail in the end.

Things aside, there's another cryptocurrency which will emerge soon aiming to transform the payments industry. It's called COTI and it claims to process transactions instantly and without fees. Being based on a DAG model, it's practically similar to IOTA, and NANO. As such, I believe that the future lies in such coins, due to their unparalleled speed and high scalability. Therefore, among the fastest cryptocurrencies, there is Ripple, Stellar, Ark, Bitshares, IOTA, NANO and COTI. Just my opinion :)

Same. I like Stellar simply because it's blazing fast and fees are a fraction of a penny. It's a very practical cryptocurrency for micropayments, and more due to its scalability. Last time I've checked, the Stellar dev team is planning to integrate the Lightning Network to the cryptocurrency. If successful, then transactions would become instant and virtually free as XLM scales to a wider audience. It could surpass popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin Cash because of said reasons.

Therefore, among the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence today, we've got: Stellar (Lumens), Ripple, Ark, Bitshares, Steem, EOS, IOTA, and NANO. Just my thoughts ;D

IMO, the later cryptos are very focused on dealing with the transaction speed as well as reducing the transaction fee to the minimum for investors. And usually new cryptos with low volume usually have breakneck transaction speed, only when the volume is high, the transaction is slow to start. As such, the ICO Token always provides the quickest confirmation time.

Exactly. New cryptocurrencies are greatly focused on improving transaction processing speeds, and reducing costs, while at the same time, providing unparalleled security and reliability. Over time, cryptocurrencies are becoming faster and more efficient in processing transactions. Most recently, a new cryptocurrency has been proposed which is based on Directed Acrylic Graphs (DAG) in order to provide instant and zero-fee payments to the world. Such cryptocurrency is called Coti or "Currency of the Internet" which is quite impressive, IMO.

On the other hand, tokens which are deployed on the Ethereum blockchain are quite fast too, but sometimes they become slow if Ethereum's network load is high. Therefore, the more usage a cryptocurrency experiences over time, the slower it may become if it doesn't implement scalability upgrades to boost its transaction capacity. Just my thoughts ;D

about cryptocurency is fastes transaction and confirmation
i think is the best dogecoin , and dogecoin is very low fee sending too, so is enjoy use dogecoin

I think so too. Especially for micropayments, as it makes it an ideal cryptocurrency to tip others. Due to its inexpensive nature, it is very easy to obtain, allowing anyone to get into it and learn more about cryptocurrencies.  :)

It is worth mentioning that Bitcoin is a network with minimal commissions for making payment transactions. That is, you can easily send at least a million dollars without any intermediaries and restrictions anywhere, paying at the same time a few dollars. Here it is appropriate to mention Ripple - it is a modern and more advanced analogue of the international SWIFT system with the ability to make transfers without commissions and almost instantly completely safe money transactions

That's certainly true, mate. There are some tradeoffs that we need to consider, when making use of a specific cryptocurrency. You cannot enjoy full decentralization while experiencing high TPS at the same time. At the cost of lower speeds and higher fees, comes the decentralized nature you know and trust. On the other hand, at the cost of greater efficiency, and lower fees, comes the centralization factor into such cryptocurrency.

Depending on the people's needs whenever a specific individual wants to send money at a fast and cheap way, or simply wants to secure his/her money against external manipulation, would be such cryptocurrency that he/she will choose. Things aside, I believe that among the fastest cryptocurrencies to date are: Bitshares, Steem, IOTA, NANO, Coti, Constellation, Hedera Hashgraph, Ark, Lisk, EOS, Ripple, and Stellar. RaiBlocks with a high degree of confidence can be called the leader in transaction speed (7000 operations per second).  RaiBlocks uses a block-lattice architecture when each account has its own block.  The advantage of this approach is that changes in the chain of accounts can be made instantly, without acknowledgment of the entire network, significantly increasing its throughput.  But since RaiBlocks uses the model proof-of-stake, sending money is associated with two separate transactions.  In the first funds are withdrawn from the account of the sender, in the second - are credited to the beneficiary's account.  This is somewhat burdensome, but the operations are quick and with minimal costs.  In addition, this technology is very scalable.

It would be interesting to make a table with real experiments on speed, up to milliseconds and understand the leader of this race. For me, while it's ripple, stellar and lisk, because it's not compared to others.

Yeah. It's necessary to test out different cryptocurrencies to help determine which one is the fastest. Results obtained in a testnet will be a lot different than those obtained in the mainnet, since the former has greater load further reducing the TPS of a specific cryptocurrency. But as far as tests are concerned, I've heard that Komodo (KMD) has successfully reached a rate of 1,000,000 TPS. If this same throughput is achieved on the main chain, then it would make KMD one of the fastest and most scalable cryptocurrencies to date.

Aside from the cryptocurrencies you've mentioned (like XRP, XLM, and LSK), I believe that EOS is fast too, since transactions take only seconds to complete, and fees are totally free. As time goes by, new cryptocurrencies might emerge with greater speeds and zero costs. Eventually, we will experience instant transactions and no fees within the future ;)

Exactly. It's one of the most unique features, Dash has brought to the crypto space, since transactions can be settled instantly. This would allow merchants to adopt Dash easily, since they can accept payments in a fast and cheap way unlike most popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. For this reason, I believe that Dash has a very bright future not only as an instant cryptocurrency for daily payments, but also as a privacy coin to protect users funds from prying eyes. :)

For me, I would still go to NEO. For me, using NEO is already enough, I have been receiving neo in just seconds and the best part of it, is that you are sending neo coins from one wallet to another by free. Since neo produces hourly gas.

You cannot conclude that this is the fastest, because most of these tokens are used in digital exchanges and there is no real-world use.
If they start using it in the real world like Bitcoin, I might be able to accept when you say they are the fastest and the best.

Almost all coins or tokens are faster in development than bitcoin. I think most altcoins are fast enough with some extreme development.
Some exchanges require more confirmation for certain coins so that it still slows down the deposit, this must be addressed immediately.

For me, the fastest coin to manage the price is bitcoin, where we can expect a higher level of profit.
This is because bitcoin has gained public trust, as well as a very large community, extensive network and fantastic prices.

To be the fastest, you need better development. Creditbit is currently one of the digital currencies that is growing faster in the cryptocurrency segment, even more than coins that have high popularity. Rapid adoption and development has positioned Creditbit as the future of digital money.

have you heard Ojut? coins from china. This coin reportedly has a speed that is hundreds of times that of BTC. I think BTC will still be very important for storing wealth and as a link to exchanges and bank accounts, but as USE of cryptos changes, coins like OjuT will become very important in the real world. I think Speed is currently not the main issue with cryptos, as much of the traffic is in and out of exchanges (which can be VERY time-consuming at times). Once the focus changes to actual commercial purchases and 1 to 1 transfers, speed will be king.

Yes. Waves is also one of the fastest blockchains in existence today. It's more than just a cryptocurrency since it provides users the ability to trade other tokens with its DEX, earn extra Waves with leasing and more. Transactions are cheap and confirm in seconds, making Waves the practical cryptocurrency for quick micropayments or borderless transfers.

Things aside, there's another cryptocurrency which may prove to be the fastest one yet with over 1,000,000 TPS. It's called Credits (CS) with a tried and tested platform, along with a friendly community.

Therefore, both Waves and Credits add up to the list of fastest cryptocurrencies in existence, which rival Bitcoin and Ethereum's level of usage in the mainstream world. Just my thoughts ;D

Of those coins that I know the fastest, most reliable and with small commissions are dogecoin, verge, nano, digibyte, dash and ripple. In general, there are a lot of them, because the development of the crypto industry is very fast, and those new coins that appear and whose with serious intentions, they certainly take into account all innovations, mistakes of the old models and of course will bring something new from themselves.

I would like to think that the fastest cryptocurrency that I have ever used is ripple. I mean the transaction wasn't near instanteneous it was instantaneous. The thing is that there are always new projects that are coming out every day and a lot of them have really fast transaction times. Also I think some people have mentioned this but the waves platform is quite fast.

Almost all of cryptocurrencies when you send it will appear instantly to your account but the only thing that makes the speed different is the confirmation since it's very crucial.  a cryptocurrencies that have a high hash power but low transaction volume will be more likely to have lower transaction fee and faster aswell, its not a strange thing then if dgb and waves are fast enough because its not as crowded as bitcoin.

Ripple: 1500 operations per second
NEM: 4000 operations per second
RaiBlocks: 7,000 operations per second

Interesting observation, mate. According to your results, RaiBlocks (now known as NANO) is one of the fastest cryptocurrencies to date. This could be probably because NANO is a DAG-based cryptocurrency which doesn't require miners at all, neither fees per transaction. I believe that cryptocurrencies based on such consensus algorithm will prevail in the future, as they're the next generation of the blockchain.

As far as DAG-based cryptocurrencies are concerned (aside from NANO/RaiBlocks), there are a few that are quite interesting. Such cryptocurrencies are Constellation, Coti, IOTA, Hedera Hashgraph, and even ByteBall. These are among the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence unlike no other. They're near instant in speed, and best of all, most of them have zero fees.

On the other hand, EOS (although not a DAG-based cryptocurrency) is blazing fast too with zero transaction fees. As such, it looks like the new generation of cryptocurrencies consists of coins that are near instant speeds, without spending a lot of money in fees making them practical for micropayments, tipping, and more.

Therefore, everyday new cryptocurrencies are emerging on the market with faster speeds, and cheaper costs than ever before. Just my thoughts ;D

To compare different projects and find out which of them is the fastest we need to put them in equal conditions, cause network load is different in each project and number of nodes is also different.

Agree. A cryptocurrency project could be as fast as lightning, but as more people tend to use it, that capacity or ability to procees an "X" amount of TPS becomes diminished. Perhaps, many cryptocurrencies claim to have outstanding TPS because they've only been tested on a "Testnet", instead of a "Mainnet" to back those claims. This brings a lot of hype, without delivering true scalability to the masses. However, time will tell us which cryptocurrency is among the fastest one yet, as people make use of it everyday.

Until now, I believe that DAG-based cryptocurrencies are the future because of the way they're designed which allows for unlimited or infinite scalability without compromising decentralization. The cryptocurrencies based on this consensus algorithm, become much faster the more people join them. IOTA and NANO are good examples of DAG-based cryptocurrencies, and if they prove to remain highly scalable without compromising decentralization, then I believe that they'll take off easily.

The best thing about the next generation of cryptocurrencies (based in a DAG), is that fees are non-existent. Since miners are no longer needed, as well as validators (in the case of PoS), cryptocurrencies which make use of a DAG will never experience slowdowns or high fees unlike popular cryptos like Bitcoin and Ethereum. This is ideal for a worldwide economy free from middleman, and limitations, as people could send payments in a near-instant fashion and for free.

Nevertheless, there could only exist one cryptocurrency which is the fastest among them all. This will be proven over time as the amount of users increases within their blockchain networks. Just my thoughts ;D

The speed of transactions is not so small, although if we talk about crypto-currencies, which will be used everywhere in the future, then the question of the speed of transactions will be much more acute.

List of crypto below which we think has faster transactions:

1. Dash
Dash, one of the oldest cryptocurrency in the market that popularized the concept of masternode governance, is a fast transaction coin. The average transaction time for DASH is 2 minutes 39 seconds. This is also known as block time. DASH, with a block size of 2 MB, can process up to 56 tx / second. Block size increased from 1 Mb to 2 Mb last year.

2. Monero
Monero is a pure coin driven by a community that is popular for its anonymity and privacy. This is also quite fast with transactions. It takes an average of 2 minutes to process transactions in the next Monero block. The size of the Monero block is dynamic, which means it will continue to adjust automatically as the average network volume grows.

3. PIVX
PIVX is another coin with fast transaction speed and focus on privacy. Also, this is a proof of coins that provides advantages compared to other coin proofs. This is a DASH fork and has a block time of 1 minute which means it takes one minute to process the transaction on the next PIVX block.

4. NEO
NEO is another proof of fast coin stock by processing transactions and can process at a speed of 1000tx / second. NEO cryptocurrency, called Ethereum killer, takes 15 seconds to process the average transaction in the next NEO block.

5. Nano
Nano, formerly known as Raiblocks, is a relatively new cryptocurrency that was formed in 2017. Thanks to its block-lattice technology, it is very fast and can reach a high scale. It usually takes 5-10 seconds to get confirmation for a successful transaction via Nano.

6. Dogecoin
Dogecoin is a very old cryptocurrency that runs based on evidence of work consensus mechanisms. Crypto is also very fast. It takes an average of 1 minute to process transactions in the next Dogecoin block.

7. Ethereum
Ethereum, the world's computer, has recently faced congestion due to its scalability problem. In addition, he was thinking of moving to evidence of a stake consensus in the future that would make it faster. But from now on it usually takes 14-17 seconds to process transactions on the next Ethereum block and handle up to 12 tx / second.

8. Litecoin
Litecoin is a silver standard in the crypto market. Litecoin, another branch of Bitcoin, is quite fast and powerful. It takes around 2:30 minutes to process transactions in the next Litecoin block.

I tested both Ethereum and Waves and they are both fast, but I consider Ethereum so far as the fastest sometimes it took only 10 to 20 seconds to confirm my transactions, how I wish Bitcoin will be as fast as this two, credits claims they are the fastest but we'll once their platform launch.

In my opinion, the fastest crypto currency is ripple. This ripple of crypto currencies is popular with the speed of transactions carried by these coins. This ripple is used by most people because of its superiority in super-fast transactions. By using ripple, we can do a lot of transactions at once, which is only a few minutes. In addition, to support the speed of the transaction, this ripple is enough to maintain stability when a hard fork occurs. Of course this is the most sought after crypto currency players who have high mobility in buying and selling.

A cryptocurrency that has the fastest frequency in increasing its price is BTC, it has the speed to significantly increase prices. But with that advantage, bitcoin also has weaknesses, it cannot maintain its achievement over a long period. Bitcoin will decline again quickly, and it takes a long time for bitcoin to increase significantly again.

if only for transfer purposes, I would recommend Doge
because Doge only charges a very small fee, no matter how big the transaction you make, the transaction fee is only 10 doge, or about 500 satoshi,
then for the issue of transfer speed, Doge was the champion, I used to withdraw using Doge and indeed in a matter of minutes, my money was in my wallet

Each and every crypto currency is faster, speed of transaction is only depend upon the fee which you initiated when you made transaction.
More you pay fee faster your transaction.
You can example of ETH, bitcoin or any other crypto. Each currency has different set of fee. That fee will be shared with the miners for confirming the transaction.

Great news, amidst the series of cryptocurrencies, it is no longer a new thing that Ethereum has taken over the lead; this is evident with the calibrated technological build up of this alt coin like the smart contract that regulates all forms of transaction between the two parties in contract and ensures transparency, accountability and secured business terms, devoid of a third party or violation of business terms and agreement.

More so, ethereum operates with the application of some software application like the decentralised application (DApp) the regulates the communication channels between the two parties in contract and so many other functions but a few to mention.

5. Nano
6. Doge

8. Litecoin
9. Bitcoin
10. BitcoinCash

Actually, its hard to determine which crypto currency is fastest. Here in the world of crypto currency is so volatile that may happen as we didn't expect to happen. I believe some coins will suddenly increase tremendously and some of it will just continue to survive in a very cheap value. Hopefully soon the market will back to its peak and great value so we can able to have a great return.

This top10 is misleading,
Dash isn't the fastest crypto so far. Even Nano beat it.
They forgot to consider a lot of cryptos.

Dash is one of the fastest cryptocurrencies to date (just like Nano) due to its Instant Transactions feature. By making use of this, you can send money in Dash to anyone in the world within a few seconds in a near-instant manner. It's one of the most undervalued cryptocurrencies right now, considering that it has been the pioneer of Instant transactions technology. Nano appeared just after Dash did in the crypto space, but has managed to stay on top, probably because of better marketing/promotion. Despite this, Nano is also one of the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence due to the use of the DAG algorithm.

Other cryptocurrencies which are based on the same algorithm (such as IOTA, Constellation, Coti, and Hashgraph) can scale indefinitely without experiencing delays in transaction processing time. However, it is debatable, whenever they're highly secure against external attacks or not. Even DPoS based cryptocurrencies like Bitshares, Steem, EOS, Lisk, and Ark, are extremely fast and cheap in fees. Some of the coins mentioned here even have zero fees, which make them practical for micropayments and more.

However, I believe that there will be only one winner, which could prove to become the fastest cryptocurrency among them all. This is greatly determined with the number of people using a specific cryptocurrency. Hence, the more people are transacting in a blockchain network, the greater the load will be, which causes the performance of the network to decline. Just my thoughts ;D

Are you serious? Zilliqa is the much faster than all of the mentioned, also EOS would be one of the fastest one. Also I like the Graph technology that is kind of similar to blockchain, but I guess it is much faster and cheaper technology.

That's certainly true, mate. Graphene technology developed by Bitshares, is fast and cheap with the ability to handle massive TPS. Cryptocurrencies which make use of such technology are Bitshares, EOS, and Steem making them one of the fastest and most widely used blockchains to date. If you look closely at the Blocktivity website, you'll notice that cryptocurrencies based on such technology are the most used, while other popular cryptocurrencies (like Bitcoin and Ethereum) are behind them. This means that DPoS based cryptocurrencies with Graphene technology are much more scalable and cheaper than PoW and PoS based cryptocurrencies.

Things aside, Zilliqa will be one of the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence once its mainnet launches during the beginning of next year. By making use of Sharding technology, Zilliqa will be able to scale to millions of TPS without delays. Best of all, it's a smart contract platform like Ethereum that has its own programming language for dApps. Therefore, the competition is becoming fierce as new alternatives emerge on the market which rival popular cryptocurrencies into obtaining the top spot in fastest TPS and cost-effectiveness within the blockchain space. :)

Dash has InstantSend, which is about 2 seconds and gives you 4 confirmations on a transaction.
It also has that transaction locked to prevent double-spending.
I just found out about this problem and I tried to move the Dash from Bittrex to the local Exchange.
Maybe this will be the best choice for me if I succeed in the transaction with 2 seconds.

I would have to say ripple, it is hands down the fastest coin in the market. The transactions are received instantly and there is no kind of delay because confirmation of the transaction on the network is so fast. It is true that the speed of bitcoin has gone down significantly and one there is higher volume then the network would be even slower and that is where coins like ripple would be so important.

Then that can be wrong again. Crypto transactions are growing so that really depends on how the network's stability of that coin is fine.

I tried Dogecoin and ethereum and when I used them it was almost an instant transaction that has been confirmed on the spot.

EOS may be one of the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence, but it lacks popularity unlike Ethereum. On top of that, the cryptocurrency is partly centralized, as Block Producers could effectively freeze your account at will, adding the risk of middleman cryptocurrencies were meant to eliminate in the first place. It's unfortunate, but the true reality as EOS resembles the nature of XRP as a centralized cryptocurrency. However, in terms of speed, and costs, EOS wins by a long shot.

There are absolutely no fees which makes EOS ideal for mainstream dApps. If EOS takes the right path to decentralization by making modifications to its Arbitration model, then it could easily rival Ethereum and several other smart contract platforms. When EOS is compared with other cryptocurrencies in existence, it's quite fast but not the fastest at all. I believe that Dash may be the fastest among them all since it provides a feature known as InstantSend. With it, people can send transactions instantly from one Dash wallet to another without hassles. Other cryptocurrencies which are quite fast are: Steem, Bitshares, and Ark.

However, in terms of popularity and mainstream acceptance, Bitcoin is still the winner among them all. If Bitcoin wouldn't have been the first-mover within the market, other cryptocurrencies would've taken its place by now since they're faster, cheaper, and full of features. Nevertheless, it's good to know about the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence, as they provide a better alternative towards Bitcoin when sending money in the least amount of time possible. Just my opinion :)

I think that EOS and POA are now the fastest, but no one uses EOS, since it is super expensive, and nobody knows about POA in the world yet.

As far as I know, EOS is extremely cheap when compared with Ethereum. There are no fees per transaction, and speeds are blazing fast. While there's a cost involved when creating an EOS account, it's affordable and anyone can join the EOS network if they have the minimum required EOS for RAM. On the other hand, POA is not exactly a cryptocurrency but a sidechain which relies on the security of the Ethereum blockchain. Like Loom Network's sidechains concept, POA achieves true scalability on the Ethereum blockchain by allowing developers to deploy their dApps on the POA Network.

This approach allows smart contracts and token transactions to be faster and cheaper than the Ethereum blockchain itself. Which in effect, makes POA one of the fastest sidechains in existence, as well as, the Loom Network. While the POA Network is still unknown to many, it provides many benefits that solve the scalability dilemma. Loom Network's Plasma Chains work the same way, but for these sidechains to really take off, they would need better marketing/promotion.

Other cryptocurrencies which aim to become the fastest ones in existence would be IOST, Constellation, and Zilliqa. The first one named IOST will use sharding and a unique consensus algorithm named PoB (Proof of Believability), to provide unparalleled transaction speeds and low costs. The other one named Constellation will use a DAG just like IOTA and NANO for limitless scalability. And finally, there's Zilliqa which aims to become a smart contract platform like Ethereum with sharding and a formal verification language known as Scilla.

Therefore, new cryptocurrencies would emerge over time which are faster and cheaper than ever. It's the future of borderless payments and could greatly threaten Bitcoin's place as the first largest cryptocurrency by market cap within the future. Just my opinion :)

I believe that now Ripple and Ethereum remain the best cryptocurrency in these parameters today. They provide high performance, impressive transaction speed. Now I mainly work with Ethereum. Although also high speed today provide Stellar and Ark.

No one is the fastest or slowest. It all depends on the amount of exchange. It depends on the workload or not the workload of the crypto exchange. Coins and their exchanges are slower due to extended exchanges.

Ripple really remains a confident leader in performance and speed of transactions. I believe that over time, its solutions will improve, so the cryptocurrency will develop steadily. Among other fast cryptocurrencies I can name litecoin and Ark.
It's nothing if you try compared ripple with DAG platform that gives you instant transaction and zero fees. Ripple stlll charge a little fees dude. I thought that there are some platforms that they have announced if they have created the fastest protocol more than what has been doing by VISA.

I am absolutely sure that today Ripple remains the fastest cryptocurrency on the modern altcoins market due to the peculiarities of its algorithm. Of course, it assumes a high proportion of centralization; therefore, Ethereum is becoming another priority option for fast transactions.

Ripple really remains a confident leader in performance and speed of transactions. I believe that over time, its solutions will improve, so the cryptocurrency will develop steadily. Among other fast cryptocurrencies I can name litecoin and Ark.

Ripple is extremely fast probably because of the way it's designed. Being centralized and not requiring miners for consensus, would allow it to become much more scalable than other popular blockchains. Transactions are near instant, and fees are incredibly low. For such reasons, I believe that Ripple might survive in the market, since it provides many benefits that are too hard to ignore for both banks and individuals alike. On the other hand, Ark is also extremely fast as transactions settle in the blockchain within just 8 seconds. Fees are very cheap, and compared with other cryptocurrencies, Ark provides a bridge to other blockchains with its "SmartBridge" feature.

Such feature is still in development, but considering how actively developed Ark is, it'll be a cryptocurrency that's too hard to ignore investing in it. As for Litecoin, it's extremely fast but not as actively developed as other cryptocurrencies. It's speed and low fees are probably because it's not heavily used like other popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, compared with most cryptocurrencies on the market, Litecoin is relatively stable in value.

Other cryptocurrencies that are quite fast are: Bitshares, IOTA, NEO, Lisk, Steem, Stellar, Cardano, EOS, Constellation, IOST, Zilliqa, Hashgraph, ByteBall, NANO, and many more. Often, cryptocurrencies which make use of a DAG or DPoS as consensus algorithms, are quite fast because they were designed to become scalable for the masses. Some of them are fee-less, which makes them extremely convenient for daily transactions.

Nevertheless, there may be many cryptocurrencies which are faster than Bitcoin and Ethereum, but only one shall be the fastest among them all which I believe it's NANO. Just my thoughts ;D

In my opinion, one of the most interesting and fast cryptocurrency is Ripple. Ripple is popular for its transaction speed. This ripple is used by most people because of its superiority in ultra-fast transactions. Ripple maintains transaction speed to maintain its stability. Ripple use the largest participants in the crypto market who have the need to quickly exchange large sums of money when buying and selling.

Pchain(PAI) is going to be the fastest crypto-currency with its own ecosystem and a lot of great technologies on board. They already have demonstrated a bit more than 120k transactions per second in test-network and improving it further.

You can produce whatever results you want during testnet, it's another kettle is fish achieving this during mainnet.

Yes, bitcoin transaction many times and everything is going very slowly there. With the improvement of its blockchain can all change as well as for the transaction, it is not suitable. Yes, such Litecoin, Dogecoin, and even Ethereum can be said faster and work very well. Once I made a transfer of the zilliqa coin and it very quickly reached what I did not expect at the beginning. And the blockchain network commission has a huge role the higher the faster the transaction.

The coins I've mentioned previously, are among the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence. However, that could change, as the network load increases according to the number of users on the same. As far as I know, only 2 consensus algorithms seem to be the most scalable which are DPoS and DAG. Cryptocurrencies which make use of said algorithms can provide near-instant transactions and low costs. Some are even fee-less like EOS, NANO, and IOTA. This means that the future belongs to the next-generation of cryptocurrencies which are the fastest possible for worldwide transactions.

As such, the list of cryptocurrencies which are the fastest ones, is growing every day. Such list includes: EOS, IOTA, NANO, Constellation, IOST, Zilliqa, Ark, Bitshares, Lisk, Ripple, Stellar, DASH (Instant transactions), and even ByteBall. However, there could be more than that as new cryptocurrencies explore different technologies and features along the way. Therefore, I believe that those are the fastest cryptocurrencies in the meantime. Just my opinion :)

Dash has InstantSend, which is about 2 seconds and gives you 4 confirmations on a transaction.
It also has that transaction locked to prevent double-spending.

The cryptocurrencies have their difference in the transaction speed. Maybe as you said Dash has a fast speed, it is because there is a lot of miners who supports dash, through that, the confirmation is also fast enough to enable the transaction.

It's all so subjective. Many networks say that they have the fastest transactions, but because of the weak load, they can not prove it.

Exactly. Any cryptocurrency can be fast if it doesn't have high network load. Depending on the number of people using it for daily transactions, the speed can either increase or decrease, as well as, costs. Bitcoin could've been fast like old times if there wasn't any high network load at all. However, due to the increased adoption of Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency for the mainstream world, speeds have declined, and fees have risen, causing the need for the pioneer cryptocurrency to scale ASAP.

The same thing could happen with other cryptocurrencies since their speed and cost are determined with the current network load. While it's true that there are some consensus algorithms which are much efficient than others, they could become as slow as PoW if they gain high load. These are the facts, however many cryptocurrency projects are simply claiming to be the fastest, to bring a lot of hype from investors and ordinary people.

They would need to prove their speed by performing a series of tests, which anyone could audit. Speaking of this, Credits aims to be one of the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence. Compared with many overhyped cryptocurrencies, Credits has taken the opportunity to prove its claimed speed and security by performing an audit by a well-known company. This shows, that Credits is truly a cryptocurrency that could handle large TPS while delivering low fees and unparalleled security.

Other cryptocurrencies which are fast but haven't been put to the test are: Electroneum (Instant Transactions), and Lightning Bitcoin (LBTC). The last one uses a DPoS consensus algorithm, and it's quite fast compared with most cryptocurrencies out there on the market. However, its network load is low, which means that it's not as widely adopted and used as other popular cryptocurrencies we know and love today.

Nevertheless, time will tell us which cryptocurrency would stand the test of time, to deliver the fastest speeds and lowest costs, while retaining security and decentralization, which is most important. Just my opinion :)

Nice observation, mate. Without a doubt, Ripple is by far the fastest cryptocurrency in existence today. This is probably because of its centralized design, compared with most popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. I would like to add Stellar to the list as it has somewhat the same technology as Ripple (XRP), but with a greater level of decentralization than the latter. Stellar's block times are blazing fast like Ripple, and it has recently implemented smart contract functionality with SSC (Stellar Smart Contracts).

Tokens can be easily launched on the Stellar blockchain, which serves as a greater alternative to Ethereum due to its high TPS and dirt-cheap fees. Several decentralized exchanges have been launched which make use of the Stellar blockchain for quick settlements. As such, it looks the future lies on cryptocurrencies that deliver near-instant speeds at the lowest cost possible.

On the other hand, NEM (XEM) is quite fast too, with smart contact functionality (NEM's API) and plenty of advanced features. Once Catapult release becomes public, then without a doubt, TPS will rise to unprecedented levels. Catapult is somewhat similar to Bitcoin's Lightning Network. This means that NEM and many other cryptocurrencies we know and love today will become highly scalable in the future.

Nonetheless, cryptocurrencies would become even faster if they would provide zero confirmations (0-conf) without compromising security. Bitcoin Cash is already working on that, and if it becomes a success, then transactions would be instant, making it convenient for merchants and businesses alike. Just my opinion :)

Nice. Without a doubt, Ethereum will scale until it becomes flexible enough for people in the mainstream world. Increasing TPS is key towards the adoption of Ethereum and its tokens among individuals, businesses and corporations alike. The upcoming Casper PoS and Sharding upgrades, will totally rock Ethereum as they drastically change the smart contract platform for the better. Right now, Ethereum might be slow and costly in fees, but everything is bound to change sooner or later.

Once it scales, then it could be compared to other cryptocurrencies which are fast enough for the mainstream world. On the other hand, Tron is a smart contract platform which could greatly rival Ethereum since it's much faster, cheaper, and it's fully compatible with the EVM. This means that existing developers within Ethereum, could migrate their projects easily within the Tron network, without having to learn a new programming language at all.

Therefore, the future lies in not only fast and cheap cryptocurrencies for daily transactions, but also for smart contract platforms that are highly scalable for the mainstream world. In my opinion, the fastest cryptocurrencies right now are: Bitshares, Tron, EOS, Ark, Lisk, Stellar, Ripple, Nano, IOTA, NEO, and even Credits. :)

in any case the update of Constantinople failed the testing. perhaps the ethereum team is implementing everything with good results in January 2019.

The Ethereum constantinople upgrade failed on the testnet. That's the main reason, why Casper has been delayed for Ethereum until 2019. In the bright side, Ethereum will scale in the safest way possible compared with other alternatives which scale quickly without ensuring the quality of the implemented upgrades. As such, it's not quantity that matters (like number of TPS) but quality instead. If Ethereum could scale safely with it's Casper PoS and Sharding, then it would become a success.

By then, Ethereum will become one of the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence, just like in its early days. In the meantime, we could enjoy altcoins with near-instant speeds that make our life much easier. DAG cryptocurrencies seem to be the best bet towards allowing users to make micropayments at the least time possible without any additional costs. On the other hand, DPoS cryptocurrencies such as EOS and Tron are also fast with cheap costs. This means that cryptocurrencies are only getting better over time, which will result in massive adoption from people within the mainstream world.

Nonetheless, if you're looking into the fastest cryptocurrencies in existence, then DPoS and DAG cryptocurrencies are the ones that fulfil such purpose. It's been proven that PoW based cryptos like Bitcoin and Litecoin are extremely slow and resource intensive. Which is why, the future lies on PoS, DPoS, and DAG for greater scalibility and energy efficiency. Just my thoughts ;D

It's been proven that PoW based cryptos like Bitcoin and Litecoin are extremely slow and resource intensive. Which is why, the future lies on PoS, DPoS, and DAG for greater scalibility and energy efficiency. Just my thoughts ;D
I believe bitcoin is much fastest than other coin because as you look in its market value it increases highly and widely accepted investors as well. I hope it will remain stable in its price and continue to grow more.

I do not think that several miliseconds really can change a thing, so I am not sure that there is a point in making every new platform faster and faster.

for now what I believe is coin with a good speed of delivery is XRP,
the fastest I've ever sent using XRP is 5 seconds, between one wallet with another wallet,
but not including wallet exchanger, because usually the wallet exchanger requires manual confirmation every time you do a WD or deposit.
and besides XRP, I also recommend Stellar, because the delivery is also fast.

I come across a lot of solutions that saying that they are the fastest and I have no time to compare all of them, but I am sure that several researchers have done it.

There are too much of altcoins, so there will not be certain answer and you need to look what altcoin is the best for you in terms of use to make a choise.

Money drives people mad, it's sad! People buy XRP cause it's stable, but it has many demerits and doesn't meet the purposes of the community! The coin is centralized, so be cautious when buying in long-term!

I would say any small blockchain is instant.
Basically, the way the technology works is that the less amount of transactions, the less volume of confirmations that need to be made, means faster speed.
At a certain point, it becomes basically instant.

But if you are looking for a crypto that can always be fast, you will have to look for non blockchain projects.
The three biggest now are IOTA, Nano, and Byteball.
Out of these, I would say Nano is the most reliable and fastest.

there are a lot of projects going on right now that promise to have incredible speed, but that's just it, they are only promises.
Whether they can deliver anything, like 1mil transactions per second, than that would also feel "instant".

Every millisecond is important if you want to be a global digital currency. Bitcoin can handle less than 10 transactions per second and Ethereum can handle around 20. VISA, for example, handle around 2000 tps and that number can go up to 4000 tps.

I think that EOS or TRON will be the fastest blockchains now if we consider the transactions per second rate.
But, later, after IOTA will be more used, IOTA will be the fastest because Tangle is a nice solution how to solve the scalabillity problem ;).
