When do you think? In an older post back in December 05 2013 I post a thread asking when do you think BTC would be at $2,000, well it took almost 42 months to achieved that goal. I remember when someone told me that bitcoin's price will reach 10,000$ soon I laughed hard at him and the price that time was around 400$. Post by: tobs on May 22, 2017, 08:19:39 PM Given the pace of raise in price of bitcoin I don't see why shouldn't we expect it to get to 5000$ even in two months. Just look as it's now above 2000$ while no more then month ago it was calmly sitting at 1000$. Bitcoin doubled it's price in barerly a month and despite being new here I've been watching it raise and raise and the higher the price the more people get to know about this coin which will cause the bubble effect but even the bubble itself will bring even more people seeing how quickly the price raises and more people will easily contribute to higher prices.

Is this question really necessary? There is no exact answer to that and you will just received lots of guesses since everyday has a chance to make to that target even by lower chances. What matters here is, we must expect a continous growth until to that target you desire with only moderate to average dip as a standpoint chance or opportunity to make some buy back. It's not that bad if you will going to speculate with this price, it may be high but what can you think about it. When people started to speculate that the price is possible to reach at $2,000 when the price way back then is only $800 - $1,000. The way parabolic bubbles work, we can very easily see testing of 4000 USD per bitcoin next month. The resistance there could be too much and cause significant correction (spanning 6+ months), but with that said 10 000 USD per bitcoin will be in game far sooner than 2020, sir ;) Unless, some alt replace bitcoin as virtual gold (wealth retention), which I find extremely unlike in medium term. Even ETH is unfit for that, perhaps monero in couple of years. But not now. Testing 8-10k might be on the table as soon as next year unless something catastrophic happens. But you fail to take into account that this could be a bubble that will burst anytime. If it bursts this year, Bitcoin might fall and trade between $1000 - $1500. the mainstream adoption has became much faster with legalization of bitcoin in Japan and consequently in other countries. and we can see how the price is reacting to the news. but we still have a big obstacle called the block size debate in front of the rise, it can slow it down and even halt it. so if it is solved within reasonable timing and in best way possible we can see $5000 in less than 4-5 months Title: Re: When will BTC be at $5,000? nobody knows and can tell for sure. it depends on many things. we can start seeing another downtrend and some more stability phase like back in 2015 when price stuck in one place. or we may continue seeing this rise continue upward. that price is going to get here some day but we can never tell when that day will be. By 2020 more people would like to have a Bitcoin or at least a portion of it, but availability maybe the problem as there are people out there who wants to keep it or hold them than use them in exchange of goods or services and I think that will drive Bitcoin price higher but I maybe wrong on my observation.Title: Re: When will BTC be at $5,000? I think since Japan has accepted bitcoin as a legal form of payment, we can expect more countries to do the same. And when this happens it is possible to see more than $5000 per bitcoin. It will give the market enough time to build itself up, as everything takes time. By that time the demand has increased significantly, we might have an ETF, we surely operate larger blocks, and the block subsidy is at an all time low. That will surely justify the price to demolish the $5000 level. Even more precise - I will be disappointed if we by that time haven't gone through that level.

Mate we are feeling so because the price of bitcoins is only rising right now but I am sure it will fall a bit too in coming months and hence a price of 5000$ will take around 2 years at least and the best part is bitcoins is not setting new averages, I mean $600 seems a bit low now and average would be $1500 if it even falls a touch. As much as I'd like to see $5000 but that's a bit far fetched expectation, if you could mine Bitcoin costing you even $2000 you have no reason to pay more than $2200 and now we only could tell what will future bring as a market price if we wait for difficulty to adjust at least 2 more times, then I'll let you know if $5000 is close to reality or not. Can not really see it happen before. And this is still wild guessing from my side. The thing is this crypto space is evolving incredibly fast and lots of stuff can happen. Maybe another coin will replace Bitcoin, what I hope is not going to happen. Or some other hidden attacks or takeover attempts may hapen which could harm Bitcoin. Any prediction further than a few months therefore is so much useless. I would say lets focus just on this year at the moment and lets's see what the outcome will be. I do not think any of the anonymous coins will ever threaten bitcoin because they are not transparent. My argument for why transparency is critical is below. If that's the case, i wouldnt be suprised at 10K this year (yes, another epic bubble).....then another massive crash back to 1-3K and float in that region for a few years before the next bubble. Big bubbles and crashes are to be expected while still in infancy. When liquidity increases down the road, the spikes and drops will not be as dramatic.

Btc broke my expectation that's why I'm betting that Bitcoin will be at 5000$ at the end of the year.

There are no rules or patterns from years of trading to go by. Bitcoin is.its own animal. If japan keeps buying and more countries also jump on board, the momentum will keep gaining steam. Thoughts?

Sooner or later someone or a group of people in Bitcoin will become so desperate that they think their only choice is to do a questionable fork. That will doubtlessly legitimize the cost to decimate the $5000 level. Significantly more exact - I will be frustrated in the event that we at that point haven't experienced that level.

I think that the wealth of the world is just starting to funnel into bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It will take a long time to get all of that fiat into bitcoin. You can't just shove it all in at once or you'd wake up to a million dollar (or multi-million dollar) bitcoin price overnight. You got to funnel a little bit, then let it settle, funnel some more, etc. Kind of like pouring a glass of beer and letting the foam settle before you keep pouring. Of course, according to the forecasts of specialists, it is very clearly stated that the higher the Bitcoin price rises, the slower it will be. But if you look at the trajectory of growth from the beginning of 2017, you can notice that Bitcoin practically started growing from $ 1,000 per coin and by that time there were moments of growth up to $ 2,700. We can't expect more than what Japan has done from governments in general. So far the price has gone up due to increasing demand, and that's exactly how it will continue. There are a lot of fears and doubts going on about that date and people are panicking and selling. As there is fear of the unknown on that date, people will likely drop their coins and wait till what happens. If it does go down by a lot before August 1, then buying will be a good option though there is a chance that it could further go down.

Bitcoin needs more country to adopt it and implement consumption tax exemption for bitcoin users to attract more people to join the Bitcoin community. Aside from that if this Aug. 1 update is successful, it will make Bitcoin price value to increase rapidly and possibly create a bubble. But I do not think bitcoin may need same period of time to have double the prices from current levels. It may hit $5000 in next four months of time too. As for what's been stated here I should confirm that every situations happened was just unpredictable in terms of the price value to hit higher. We must be positive enough to view it as progressive future for investing a holdings and expect price fluctuations. Don't think of a negative thoughts behind because it may losen up your belt when there's a huge fluctuation which we cannot control. This recovery is possible to be seen after the hard fork. As of now people are still unsure on what they will do, if they will shift to some alt coins and transfer their bitcoin funds or just sell it out. Maybe next year is the year for that predction on the price of bitcoin however it will be still part of decreasing and sometimes bitcoin falls.

For me I can really view the price will be possible to climb up higher to $5000 this end of the year 2017, and I think that investors will have more demand as they invest for the future holding for the plans of selling assets as price went up higher again. Actually those rumors behind came from frustrated buyers whom didn't benefit from last drops of the current price in the market, because we should be always smart if ever there's a time that price drops quickly and spikes higher again so you must be smart to buy if you wanted to invest your money. That's the main reason why the price continued to soar higher and hopefully we will be experiencing soon the benefits that we expect of another increase particularly those quick traders like me.
