this project looks interesting and i am seriously interested!  virtual assistance has become a very valid offering and if we have good professional and educated people to work with . it simply improves the environment we are dealing with now!
in the last week i have a very brutal endeavor that i am honestly not sure how to correct... i hired a guy to correct a few things on a server and it ended up === his trial and error approach  destroyed the entire OS. so i am back to the drawing board for that server! but if i would have had the right person im sure this would have never happened!
and this falls directly in the category of virtual tech support/assistance.
so i do hope this project takes off and has a great success!

This project looks very interesting and the team seems to have the requisite experience to be able to execute this plan.  However, I am curious why the target market is exclusively looking to students?  I am sure there are freelancers with nice resumes and portfolio's of work who would also be interested in utilizing this service to make some side money/continue build their resume.

Anyways I suppose a succinct way of asking this question is, why limit the market to students?  Thank you for your response!

ICO Formal date is September 12th.
PreSale will starts At August, currently set to August 2nd, might start a week later. 32-40 Days from now.

Even if August seems like a long wait to participate, it's worth it  :D, You must understand we are trying to build a genuine community here - Globaly.
There is no point of rushing an ICO, just for the sake of running one because everybody is doing it these days, We can do that even tomorrow, in terms of the contracts.

The ICO Is not the final purpose - We must remember that, It's only a mean to achieve our purpose - and the real hard work for this team will start the day after the ICO ends.

Thank you for asking this question.

The plan is to build blockchain solution and record both PayPal and STU necessary activity on the blockchain. 
Tasks like member registration, job posting, interviews, job engagement and completion will be stored on the blockchain ( or necessary minimum related to those tasks).

Users will then have the option to choose method of payment. In case they choose to use PayPal, our role will be to make the payment to them in form of FIAT.
This might include some conversion fees. We will partner with organizations/exchanges which offer such conversions.

The end result to the user will be that they will receive their pay in the selected currency.
Choosing FIAT will have obvious disadvantage in form of additional fees, while choosing STU will have no fees attached to it, other than fees
of using Ethereum network and platform fee.

With the time, students will become familiar with the platform and switching to STU will be as hard as making choice in the drop down of
available payments.

Allowing FIAT transaction in the platform will increase adoption of  bitjob.io

Once the market becomes more liquid we will work with University facilities like cafeterias, book stores to accept payments in STU. 
Possibly down the road more merchants will accept Bitcoin as form of payment and accepting STU will only either require
converting to BTC through e.g. ShapeShift or paying directly to the merchant.



We believe this future is not very distant.

Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, all are very good platforms. No doubt.
But non of them are dedicated for students, they don't even have any students category.
They don't have any collaborations to universities, unions, or other academic institutes.

Those platforms got "ruled" over by freelance experts (which are not cheap as well), causing students to be left out, students don't stand a chance to get any degree related work in today's freelance platforms.

Fiverr "gigs" are not providing real long lasting experience we wish our students to acquire over bitJob platform.
A 5$ gig is not something an employer would care about while considering you to a position after you graduate.

In our vision, students could acquire true experience while fulfilling tasks suitable for their skill set level and degree, earn a living, while also be VERY proud in expanding their resume.

All of the above is just an addition to the great benefits of using a decentralized platform to vote, work & connect students worldwide.

WOW microjobbing on the blockchain will be awesome for freelancers worldwide and I think it can really kick butt well into the future. I am going to try to participate in August in the presale as well. Best to get some tokens well in advance of the big crowdsale in September. I will do some blogging and videos also and try to get this in a video to the Greek Community, now with one out of two young people under the age of 25 being unemployed in Greece, this can open new doors for them.

Will the website only cater for students or can people like mothers who work form home also apply for jobs in the marketplace? As you know jobs in the regular job market are being scaled down by automation and other economic woes, so working from home now is the only option for many folks like myself now.  :)

bitJob will use their reputation and dispute mechanism to analyze each user ratings. Those ratings listed from users will be used to detect fraud attempts or unprofessional participants in the platform.
This will eventually reduce the fraud attempts dramatically as the Reputation assigned to the users represent their service quality.

Awareness of cryptocurrencies is growing in the world in general, and our target audience is young people who are the earliest adopters of technologies and particularly Internet. We can therefore be optimistic and trust that, in time, we will have the best access to a prime group that is both advanced and sophisticated, fluent with the usage of cryptocurrencies in the world.

Generally users, upon establishing connection through the bitJob platform, will be able to connect in physical world or through some communication application like Skype, Hangouts, or Whatsapp. To ensure that services are provided in accordance with bitJob standards and users receiving those services are satisfied and safe, the system will rely on a reputation mechanism.

The idea of this project is very cool. I have a question about the how to deal with the dispute between the students and the employers? For example, the employers are not satisfied with the work and refuse to pay?

This is good question and we have plans to deal with those issues.

1. Rating/reputation system will be in place which will allow both student and employer rate each other. When hiring employer and students when undertaking the work will be able to review those ratings.

2. Students will be able to build resume based on the work and tasks provided to employers, this way any unfavorable ratings would show up.

3. We will implement escrow service for additional fees and both employer and the student will be able to signup for this service to protect themselves. This way payments can be released according to the milestones and only after both parties sign off.
Both parties would have to come to terms themselves for money to be released or returned.

4. We are considering options to dedicate certain percentage of fees towards members contributing to the community who could support arbitration process and conflict resolution.

I wanted to draw attention to the fact that Bitjob only recently forked our GitHub repo at Ethlance (https://ethlance.com/), which is a decentralized job board built on Ethereum which has been live on the main net since January. I wanted to draw attention to the fact that Bitjob only recently forked our GitHub repo at Ethlance (https://ethlance.com/), which is a decentralized job board built on Ethereum which has been live on the main net since January. The evidence can be found here (https://github.com/district0x/ethlance/network/members).

They have forked our project and are now trying to run a crowdsale for their version of it, by forcing a token model into a platform which doesn't need one. We already offer the same service for free.  

My partner and I are currently working on a project much larger in scope, a network of decentralized marketplaces, which Ethlance is a part of. We are not trying to take credits for your work at all. Forking of open source projects is allowed and your license allows it.  You might remember several months ago we have approached you and offered you participation in our project, which you have not accepted by simply not replying. At that time we have been looking at your work and then it is when fork has been created as we have been considering various options and one possibly contributing to your project. We have removed this fork now from our repository. 

Our project is different in scope and 80% of our data will be stored on off-blockchain databases to save costs of storage. Only essential info will be stored on the blockchain and long texts of data might be only stored in form of hashes on the blockchain for verification.
Our project also will handle FIAT transactions, offer affiliate program, and use internal coin to handle blockchian payments.
Although you have done great work with your ethlance project, your design is not compatible with our requirements.
It is also too bad that you have decided not to work with us. With your experience and ours we could create even better product.

Also we have team of experienced Solidity designers and front end developers and for several months are working on high level design, discuss security and various models with our team of experts.
You can be assured that we won't be using your product now and/or in the future.

By the way if you are afraid that someone will use your work, you should not make it public or provide license which prohibits others from using it. Currently your GNU license allows free copying of your work, modifications and other options.

Open source is just that, means open source.

I wonder if the system will screen users who aren't students. Of course freelancers from upwork and blocklancer are going to be present on bitjob too. Anyone can fake IDs if they have to just to be in bitjob. The rates of the jobs between these job sites will matter in the competition.

Thank you for this great opportunity be involved, as a Mother I see this will greatly help lighten the load off of Parents also who more often than not, just can't afford to pay for higher education for their kids, even if they want the best for them. It's just not always possible. So this platform will be of humongous benefit to Everyone. Maybe BITJOB will eventually do a platform for people like me as well,, Mothers working from home with no 'real employment' but the Internet. Thy seem to have a solid business plan, and the platform seems pretty planned out/already in place. I also like that they offer the option of getting paid in fait or crypto. Crypto is really new still in my opinion, and using PayPal (something every college kid has) makes this an app most people can use.

And the team seems like real people, for once. I never understand how people can fund anon projects; its literally like giving money to a stranger. Who does that?

I like the investbox style feature on the platform; thats a pretty decent rate of return, and if people lock tokens they wont sell them, keeping the price stable.

It could just work and worth putting in a small investment but I'm not yet sure if this can become a big hit. For instance I don't understand why they don't market it to a wider audience than just students, there's no reason this can't work for even your regular Joe looking for part or full time work during times of unemployment.

Good observation.
This is expected behaviour.

The minimum in the presale is 22.50 Eth.
If someone sends less than this, the transaction will fail.
Bad jump means that programmer wanted it to happen when condition was not met.

Occasionally it might happen that not enough gas will result in such an error. This is mostly possible when someone manually sets the gas.
Wallets will automatically allocate enough gas. You should use  250000 gas for this transaction.

Will bitjob recognize the universities from Asian countries? Not sure if this had been asked before, I just want to know whether they do because it would be a waste for some students from college institutes that won't be accepted.

Since the registration will require verification of student Id,  students from universities which are not yet in our database might require to go through manual verification process, similar to a process of verification on exchanges.

That's good. I might be in college by next year taking up my political science which is why I think I'g gonna be qualified. How do they know its a legit and valid ID of the student when anyone can fake an ID with simple photoshop skills.

The system will be equipped with reputation module. If person is found to cheat later, their reputation would suffer or even they would be removed from the platform.  It is not worth to build up portfolio with false identity. This would not be useful for employment purpose in the future.

With manual verification process one can be asked various additional questions which can be easily verified in addition to student id.

Student Job Market Startup bitJob Connects with UK ATM Company

Student work marketplace bitJob have this week announced a collaboration deal (https://medium.com/bitjob/bitjob-delivers-atms-with-bcb-atm-uk-dd8e48f8bbf4) with BCB ATM UK. This will effectively provide a convenient ‘Point Of Exit’ for students (in the UK at least), wishing to cash out their earnings for jobs undertaken through the service.

So What’s a bitJob?

In an ever more competitive job market, University leavers need relevant work experience just to get a foot in the door. Not to mention the fact that some extra cash to fund that fancy student lifestyle wouldn’t go amiss.

At the same time, many employers find it hard to source reliable, skilled and cost effective talent. This is especially true for short term contracts and piecework.

bitJob aims to sit squarely between the two camps and play matchmaker. Students will build a Dynamic Portfolio Resume (DPR) of the work undertaken. This can also be used to apply for graduate positions outside of the service. Employers can view this DPR along with a students reputation profile, to help choose the right candidate.
