Gonna be huge for Bitcoin if it's true. Could this be the reason of today slight price rise? Amazon is the biggest e-commerce in the world, we can finally say that Bitcoin is going mainstream when Amazon accepts it. This could be just another rumor but I really hope it's true.

What's the biggest company that accept Bitcoin right now? I guess it would be Steam and Microsoft, right?

Since the helm of Microsoft is held by Satya Nadella, Microsoft is now more open with every opportunity available. This they have proved by making Microsoft Office a cross platform, released MSN Apps for Android and iOS, etc. Even the openness of Microsoft is now not just in the area of the platform, in terms of payment methods they are now also more open

Still rumors and speculation from various investors but soon as pressure pushes the limit for Amazon management. Soon it will come to reality and I will be more happier if this will be implemented this year. I’m one of they’re client and this will also boost more bitcoin increases if being approved.

This seems to be a rumor, and no official statement has come out of Amazon stating that they have started accepting bitcoin for all services and products. Recently during the price increase too, the same statement rolled out and some believed the price increase above $6000 happened of the same.

Until now it's just a rumor and there has been no official statement from Amazon about that.
But I think even though Amazon accepts bitcoin as one of their payment systems, it wouldn't make bitcoin into mainstream quickly.
As we know some big companies have received bitcoin, but until now there are still many people who don't know bitcoin, am I right?

If ever Amazon will accept Bitcoin i am hoping that i can also purchase EC2 VPS using Bitcoin not only physical products and i also hope that it will not require Credit Card details to be able to purchase VPS. It will be a big help to Bitcoin user if that will happen in Amazon.

That's a great news for the Bitcoin platform. if this news would be true then it will become a great start for staying as a strong part of the market. it would also be a great part of bringing acceptance to the people. I think that type of news would accelerate its credibility for the purpose of transaction and payment. Overall if Amazon would accept Bitcoin then it must be a great opportunity for this system. whatever the case, Bitcoin will dominate in the monetary market.

If this really happens it will be a good development for bitcoin and will result to a higher price on the exchange. And once Amazon accepts the coin more and more companies who do online business will follow Amazon on this decision.

Yes, It's only a rumor and I've been hearing it months ago but until now there still no official statement from amazon. I'm just hoping that some big companies will accept bitcoin as one of their payment processor. We can't tell, maybe it will happen one of this days. I also hope bitcoin will recover its value after the fork.

It's not unlikely for Amazon to accept bitcoin because it has become a force to reckon wit. It's like what e-mail did to postal boxes. Countries will soon be accepting as means of exchange. This is just a rumor so far, but I guess that stories like this are pushing the amazon management to pay closer attention to the issue. I think that now the hype is so high, more and more people are investing to bitcoin and other currencies so most likely next year we are going to see a lot of big companies announcing that they accept bitcoin. I want this to happen so bad because I use Amazon almost on a weekly basis I love Amazon so much, to integrate Bitcoin payments would make my life easier and give me peace of mind too.

Business is business as usual and we know that Amazon is one of the most well known online shop and they have to get into what's on the trend. Because most of the online shoppers are into internet and they figured out that bitcoin is the digital currency that is on trend now. This is a very good news and this can make some pump to the price of bitcoin again so we just have to wait for their proper announcement on when they are going to fully adopt bitcoin.

Rumors or not though, the implications when that eventually happens are HUUGE. Amazon is one of the top 5 web/tech companies, and their acceptance of bitcoin as a valid mode of payment could be the tipping point that will push bitcoin into mainstream acceptance.

But if this will gonna happen true, it will pump raising bitcoin price because there are many user in amazon, with acceptance btc as alternative payment method there would be nice.

I don't understand how Amazon is going to sell for bitcoins if there is no official recognition of the currency. Saying that this event should be held on 26.10. but I understand that not today. Rumours is still a rumour until the official news came out, this has been discussed repeatedly in the same forum regarding this thing, but until now, as you can see, still far from bitcoin adoption
to amazon's payment method.

If it wasn't a rumor then we would surely have seen a spike in Bitcoin's price as Amazon is large e-commerce site and it delivers it's products all over the world. Though the price of bitcoin is not currently stable for big online retails shop like Amazon to use it as a mode payment and bitcoin value fluctuations like stocks and others commodities, I see this as a great development in the lives of bitcoin as this is going to impact the market positivelys. I hope there will be a good statement or feed back about this speculation about amazon, because to be honest emerging your business into bitcoin is not that easy, it takes too much step to take the courage to have, the risk that need amazon to handle, we cannot deny that amazon is a big company, that really handle bulk of buyers around the world.

I think all of this Amazon news are nonsense. Transfer fees are too much for BTC. The reasonable trading coin could not be Bitcoin, but some other fast transferable coin can be.  :)

this news was debunked as soon as it came out and it was never a "sure thing" either. they always said Amazon "MAY" accept bitcoin not that they plan, or at least that is the news i heard.

It's about time that Amazon starts catching up with Microsoft in the Bitcoin master race and start allowing purchaces with bitcoins. Bitcoins are still growing now and the potential for further investments increases day by day. Amazom will greatly benefit from this just like how Microsoft is enjoying the benefits of accepting bitcoins.

I feel the news is just a rumour but in case it is true, this would be a shot in the arm for bitcoin and its value would rise further. If Amazon starts recognizing bitcoin as payment options like a normal currency, then we would have crossed the first hurdle of bitcoin not being in the mainstream. Amazon should have accepetd bitcoin many years ago, not now. Shame on it, there are little retailers that accept bitcoin, and Amazon does not. Amazon is the biggest retailer in the world, and still, they do use amazon gift cards that are valid only at their website and not elsewhere. This particular news filtered the crypto world some weeks back and later faded away but coming out now is something I really don't want to bank on until when there is an official statement from the company concerning the proposed acceptance of bitcoin.

Reading the article further cements that its a mere speculation without anything to back it from the company's spokesperson. Acceptance of bitcoin by Amazon will give a big push that other companies will follow for sure but that does not mean everyone should then start altering either his holding or selling position for that. The announcement is expected to happen today but I still haven't seen any to that effect.

Rumours like this one do have an effect on speculation, so I certainly don't mind that.

Some number cruncher in a basement at Amazon has put together the number of Amazon gift cards purchased with BTC and that should get AZN's attention, I am certain it is not a small number.  They see the middleman percentage as profit they could be taking themselves, and will probably come up with some concept to exploit this like they are doing with electronics and other merchandise under their "Amazon Basics" umbrella. 

Then again, AZN is comfortably flush with cash and doesn't have to do more than their current status quo to keep raking it in.  Will they be happy with that, or will they continue to embrace innovation?

Listened to the Amazon Earnings Call Q3 2017 right now and Bitcoin was not mentioned.

It's now on trend on social medias and many are falling for it. Every time there are a lot of news that circulating on the bitcoin society and with this type of news, people are falling for it. And this is no doubt that everyone loves this type of news as this is a positive one. We can't assume that no one is going to shop their bitcoins, it's also a very convenient thing for shopaholic people.

If this happens the growth and demand for bitcoin will increase. If a leading merchant such as Amazon accepts bitcoin it will influence every other vendor in the market and The importance of bitcoin will forever be changed in the financial market. People will no longer have to convert bitcoin to make payments.

They just dropped that partenership and changed the countrues they accept coins from.

Is this true? Or just a rumored? If it is, then thats great coz its very easy to order in amazon then. Specially in my country has difficulties in purchasing online. So this all was based on rumors. James Altucher mentioned in one of his newsletter I believe that Amazon should/will/could accept sooner or later, maybe this month. Something like that was the statement as far as I remember.
That guy is known for pushing and spreading rumors or making exaggerated statements, to either pump his investments or get some publicity from time to time.
Imo the chance that Amazon accepts Bitcoin any time soon is <1%!!

I think this one is quite old news and I have quite positive attitude towards it, if amazon will start to accept bitcoin payments than nothing can stop bitcoin price from going to moon. There are still many countries where amazon can't deliver products because card from those countries can't be used in international marketplace. You're definitely correct mate because most of online stores and classified site are now switching to bitcoin. However, this is the reason why I am so happy when I heard the news about the Sweden trying to be the first nation to switch to digital payment.

Amazon already did and hopefully lazada will be done through bitcoin also. Its a good choice to have online shopping in bitcoin transactions since many people are busy doing work and no time to go on shopping at the mall.

This has been rumors even before I think it's last year but well this news just popped out recently. And if Amazon are grateful to start receiving bitcoin for the purchases of their customers they are economical since bitcoin is now on trend and a lot of mainstream news are coming out. They are doing the right thing since it is backed up by many investors and as well as big companies so they just don't want to miss it out.

Amazon has a huge volume but if they start accepting bitcoin, all that volume won't come into bitcoin overnight! people are still so conservative about their bitcoins. they still want it to be their investment that appreciates over time, by a lot...

that is why Amazon has not yet accepted bitcoin in my opinion. they know if they do, the profit is not going to be as big enough for the effort.

Not for the stores accepting Bitcoin through third party payment processors. Stores just get the converted value in fiat, and that's really it. In easy terms, stores don't have anything to worry about when it comes to accepting Bitcoin. In most cases it's the lacking understanding of how things work, where they don't know that there are options where they can avoid being exposed to the volatility or anything else connected to Bitcoin. The conversion fees are ultra low, especially compared to credit card fees, so it just requires them to actually take the step to allow Bitcoin to be part of their list of checkout options.

It will be a great achievement for BITCOINS. Now it will become easy to buy daily usable items from amazon by selling some bitcoins. I think this step will have a great affect on its price and this may add one more positive point towards Bitcoins. This step can make a crypto-currency famous and will promote it. Seems to me the biggest hurdle to amazon coming on board is the 10-day time lag in the block chain waiting for the transaction to clear.  I don't think Amazon would be willing to float millions for 10 days at a time...  (Incidentally, I am an Amazon bookseller). 

This seems to be important news, and no official regulation comes out of Amazon stating that they have started receiving bitcoins for all services. Only during the price increase, the same statement is shared and over $ 5000 happens the same.

It would be a good idea to make bitcoin as payment method. Since I do not have some paypal or mastercard and bitcoin wallet is all I had. There are things I want to buy in amazon but I do not have a way to make payments through it. It would be better if bitcoin is added to the payment method in amazon.

Amazon registered 3 domain addresses related to cryptocurrencies.  I don't think as of right now they are accepting bitcoins as payment.  I think they are going to create a currency that is similar to bitcoin to use at their online site.  It would be beneficial for amazon to accept bitcoins as payment as they would generate more revenue to their site and bank on bitcoins as they rise in price.

Amazon has no incentive as of yet. Crypto isn't widely used as of now and is still in it's infancy. Until enough people demand it, I don't see it happening. Even then, I'm sure there would be a pilot program or two.

In my book price volatility is not a big deal. Actually for micropayments it is not a problem if the price changes even 10%, it is a few cents, and for larger transactions your payment processor does the job for you.

I heard about this on the news quite recently.  Apparently Amazon and overstock are in advanced phases of talks/development on how to incorporate crytpo.  Overstock actually stating that they might accept all crypto's, not sure how this will work though.  Should Amazon start accepting Bitcoin as a payment, it would be a game changer.  I think that perhaps it's still a long way off though, volatility, tx fees and decentralization are just a few of the concerns that have to be resolved before this can happen.

That's good technically as people will realize the worth of bitcoin as these giant companies are starting to accept bitcoin but practically speaking i will never spend my bitcoins to pay small expenditures because you will be charge of transaction fees in btc networks plus the taxes for purchasing items. i rather trade my btc single handedly to cash and then spend it all.
