SETTING A NEW STANDARD

The name represents the value this currency hopes to create in the ever-changing world of cryptocurrencies and the potential it has with a dedicated development team which works 24x7. Valuecoin is fast, unique, and secure. Extensive testing using network simulation software has shown that 30 seconds is the optimal block time. 30 seconds is enough time to minimize the orphans and make sure the network works optimally.

We have recognized the need for a fast confirming valueable coin, and so, we set out to offer the sweet spot between speed and stability. Scrypt was chosen as the right encryption algorithm for Valuecoin from among other encryptions like Blue Midnight Wish, SHA3, and Skein. Our aim is to create the best coin possible, that aims to increase the value of the coin and the crypto market. We do not want this coin to be just another Pump & Dump coin.

Block reward is 16 coins per block, with a block target time of 30 seconds. A total of 133 million coins will be minted, with block reward halving every ~4 years of which 0.7% were set aside for bounties and services. We want ValueCoin to be a steadily mined currency, not one that is pumped and dumped. We believe the strongest asset a coin can have is active, talented developers.

We will be on the forum daily answering questions and resolving issues, as well as helping to grow ValueCoin by working behind the scenes to develop and deploy services that will ensure success. We will be doing a separate giveaway thread.

Sorry about the block reward issue. I wrote the wrong block structure. It is as follows :

Block 0-400 = 0 coins
Block 401-800 = 2 coins
Block 801-1200 = 4 coins
Block 1201-1600 = 8 coins
Block 1600 and above = 16 coins

They don't use the word premine anymore, just like with stablecoin, in the hopes noone will notice. "set aside" with the harmless sounding little percentage value.

I like the way the Coin is set up, what are the development plans past release?

The premine was "only" 1 million. His math is right, 0.7% of 133 million is 1 million. 7% is 9.3 million.

Still not going to mine it, because why do you need that large of a percentage of the coins, but his math is correct.

10,000 is more than enough for bounties and such.

I apologize, the apache record was pointed at a dev directory in which I was trying to incorporate new graphs.  This would have skewed the perceived hashrate on the frontend but payouts should have been unaffected.  I have corrected this issue, let me know if you have any further issues.

When I go to my worker it shows speed hashrate and activity, but stats on pool dont update, as well as pool table hashrate is  still 0! Can you check me please. I am solo mining with 700 kh/s but only getting the odd block here and there. Sometimes one after 10 mins and sometime after an hour, this is not right with the current diff. I also get no rejects.

For solo mining, just setup the valuecoin.conf file in the valuecoin appdata folder and then connect to the client from cgminer.

Yes but I would recommend using the vlc.epools.org pool as it is much more stable and guarantees a better payout consistency.

For solo mining you might want to add some flags if you are getting some stales or setup a cgminer config file with all for flags and setting in there.

I have found my sweet spot, this morning 146 accepted and 0 rejects. So with my 7970's I think I have found it.

You are right we need more hashpower. But, the developer has did a lot, he is doing giveaways, setup pools and block explorer, replies to all comments on the thread.

And i still don't see a big jump in the hash power. What else can he do to increase the hash rate? I think its easy to say "do promotions" but its very difficult to come up with ways to help increase the hashpower. So, why don't you share some specific points on how he can help increase hashrate further.

I like the coin, but the logo could do some work.. It is hard to make it for a new coin, there is to much competition now...

Yeah ok the 1 Million pre mine but you know how this works, Pools take some bounties, so do block explorers, then the exchanges ask for their cut.

There always has to be a premine with new coins and with the exchanges wanting more coins to allow them to be listing the premine has to be more.

I have been solo mining this over the last few days and I have not had a single problem, one of the sweetest coins to mine IMHO.

We could do with the diff going up a bit before it goes on an exchange or it will have instant pump and dump from the miners that have 100 x 7970 chained rigs and nothing else in their homes.

genesis block is not spendable, check stablecoin's coin, they had to do some force write into the tx history in order to spend it. not exist in this coin.

Once it is on cryptsy, people will know the real value of this coin.

Tell me whats wrong with what I said. If I am able to convert 5k vlc into even 0.4btc, I am making bitcoins faster than actually mining bitcoins directly or mining ANY other coin.

The real trick to make a fast profit is to mine the hell out of new alt coins that arent on exchanges and then selling them later once they are on there.

Plus the vlc dev is planning to launch an amazon and ebay giftcard buying service in exchange for vlcs. So that will rise the demand for sure too.

Finally, another altcoin. I was really getting sick of waiting...almost at my wits end.

This is such a relief. The world needs a new altcoin every 6-7 seconds, otherwise we may never find one that works; With the exception of Bitcoin of course. And LiteCoin. And Liberty Reserve (which sucks but still technically "works". And the 47 altcoins launched before breakfast this morning...Jesus Fuggen KRYST!

I am going to create an ETF that is strictly based on electricity use. Purchases shares of kilowatts from electric companies, then sell it to resellers. Then, use a small percent to pay jerks to keep creating and launching altcoins so people burn up a lot of energy.

Just do what I am doing. Get a spare PC. Smack a 5870 into that bad boy. Shove it into the corner of the room and solo mine the ass of it with 400 kh/s and then forget about it for a month.

At the end of the month a nice surprise as you find out the display driver crashed on day 2.

Seriously though, this would be a good way to go, as the difficulty needs to go up before it will slap itself on an exchange. This coin needs constant 24/7 miners. Not hit and runs.

Just relax on the trading side for now. Get on an exchange too soon and it will not do well due to low volume. A high difficulty shows interest in the coin by miners and at the moment this coin hardly has any. Give it time.

If you were mining BTC, it would take you 4 weeks to make 1 BTC.

About that online wallet service, its the pool owner's own project. I don't think he has that service for VLC yet. And its not been updated since some time. So please ignore that.

As for the shares not getting recognized, its a temporary lag in the pool. Probably due to the sudden rise in the hashrate.

But all your shares will be accounted for and paid as soon as the server catches up.

but if you are too worried, I would suggest solo mining.

if you haven't solo mined before, just tell me and i will post all the required steps to start in 5 minutes.

for solo mining, you don't share any of your block rewards with others. but they don't share anything with you as well :)
with pool, any block found is split between the pool miners, in solo mining, you're fighting alone.

Solo Mining Instructions ::

1) Download the client from http://valuecoin.org
2) Install the client and let it get synced to the network.
3) Open notepad and save the following commands as valuecoin.conf under the valuecoin folder present in the AppData folder

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=Username
rpcpassword=Password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=11109

4) After saving the above valuecoin.conf file, exit the valuecoin client and re-open the client.
5) In cgminer use the following settings,

cgminer --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:11109 -u username -p password --shaders 1792 --intensity 20 --worksize 256 -g 1 --thread-concurrency 20300 --gpu-reorder -s 1 --expiry 28 --queue 0

(these settings are for 7950)

NOW  you cgminer will be solo mining. It will not be same like mining in a pool. You will not see many Accepted shares. In solo mining, each accpeted share is a block found and you will be paid directly to your address.

Pool mining guarantees faster and steady payouts.

Solo mining works best when diff is low and your personal hashrate is high. Then you will be keeping all the coins found in the blocks you mined.

So, I pulled Valuecoin-qt, got it installed and running.

However, I don't see any active connections to the network at all.

When I go in to the debug console and type "getpeerinfo" I'm getting nothing back.

Did I miss a valuecoin.conf file creation where I need to specify peers?

Give it a few minutes. It will find the peers. If it doesnt, maybe your firewall is blocking the client from connecting to any nodes.

Restarting the client could help too.

What was the starting difficulty, since 1600 seconds is not really long at all, and many/most crapcoins were more like four blocks per second than one block per second, so maybe 1600 blocks is really closer to 400 seconds than 1600 seconds?

is there a plot somewhere showing what fraction of the coins were mined the first minute, hour, day, week, month?

Only 58996 blocks have been mined till now.

58996 - 1600(which were blocks of less than 16 coins per block) = 57396 blocks

So total number of VLC mined = 57396 x 16 = 918336

Plus now we add the first 1600 blocks,

0-400 = 0 coins
401-800 = 2 x 400 = 800 coins
801-1200 = 4 x 400 = 1600 coins
1201-1600 = 8 x400 = 3200 coins

Which is a total of 5600 coins.

so TOTAL VLC = 918336 + 5600 = 923936

Thats even less than 1 Million.

And this is the reason why the price of VLC will be more stable in cryptsy than any other coins.

And because VLC pays only 16 VLC per block, it will start stronger too.

1M coins is not enough to dump and crash the prices. All the coins are distributed across all the miners. THere are no hoarders right now.

Ok, I have just noticed an issue with Valuecoin.

The source links do not go to the actual source of what Valuecoin was built on but just a standard source template that is used by most Scrypt clones.

How come the Dev's have not actually included the source that was actually used for the Windows client.

Open souce means we should be able to see all the changes you made to create your coin. The pro file in your source is just a standard template that looks the same as foocoins source code.

you need to add your own path to the libraries. everyone install the libraries in different locations, so just add your own lib include etc path there

If VLC gets on an exchange, the owner of the pre mined coins could dump 1 million of them. Then the coin dies and everybody else's are worthless.

So I read up on this a bit. Seems rather fishy.

Pleas correct me if I'm wring here:

- there is a desire to make this coin 'fair' by forcing the first blocks to 0 coins, and gradually increasing them to normal value. Effectively saying that the ultra-low difficulties don't get tooooooo rewarded.

- the Dev, here knows as "the cheat" for simplicity sake since I don't  want to assign blame to a person till we understand more details and facts, wrote in a line so that they (or someone they designate) gets 1M coin for breaking one block.

- the coin won't be picked up until this gets resolved.

If this is the case, then the person that wrote that line is behaving in a completely untrustworthy manner and needs to remedy this immediately.  Seems incredibly greedy and short sighted.

How?

- spread it around to the finders of the previous blocks. You know o they are, and that would be the most fair. (Now that does, likely, include the cheat, but those would have been legitimately earned blocks)

Cause I'm done until someone comes clean and makes right. I have spent a lot of time on VLC and will not go any further until things get corrected.

Image is everything with Alt-coins, and this is not good at all. A destroyed reputation of trust is almost impossible to fix, you only get one shot.

As I am mined quiet a few of these coins, how come you had to pay out VLC to get the Windows QT built? That is normally free and done by yourself.

No, i only had the idea to get such and such coin developed but since i didn't know how to code myself back then, i hired a coder. He made the qt and took a fee for his work.

Yes the premine has been over-exagerrated. Like i discussed in the earlier post, most of the premine has been diluted and total VLC have have surpassed enough to not let VLC be a problem anymore.

When you first launched Valuecoin, I spend a lot of time mining this coin but you don't seem to be interested in it that much with your forum activity so low for a developer of a released coin and you have not showed us what the pre-mine has been spend on. Saying it is diluted is like saying you still have the million still.

I don't agree with what you said.

Cryptsy will make their money, they don't care about a coin premined or not. In fact, they listed many coins heavily premined, some just a few days after they launched. I suspect these are made by their friends, or themselves.

The key to get listed is to have more interests in the miners. Now there are many competitions to cryptsy. I see bter.com listed many coins recently, including many not listed in the cryptsy, for example CDC (1 mil premined I think). This is good strategy for them, as the 1st one always get advantages among the traders. People don't really care about premine, premine will be factored in the trading price anyway, so there's nothing to worry about it.

That's why pre-mine is bad. It devalues a coin instantly, which is going to annoy anyone that wants to mine it fairly and for it get a good price on an exchange.

Yes I agree, premine is bad for sure. But all I am saying is that it will be reflected in the price, there's no point to over-exaggerate it, let the market determine its value, traders are not stupid, they know what's the price should be assigned to each coin. There's no point to say that because one coin has premine, so it can not be listed in certain exchange. And the fact is, many premined coins are listed, and there's no problem of it.

Totally reasonable question.

Here is the honest answer.  VLC was billed as a new coin with a "fair launch" structure.  One that allowed mining to happen in such a way where the general community could benefit and not just the first miners to join in.  See the Original Post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=239666.0).

After a bit of discussion and investigation into the source it was determined that the code was written so that the first block mined was worth 1,000,000 coins.  then the "fair" kicked in.

So, 1M out of the current 3M are owned by one person and done, what I would call, semi-secretly.  Hardly what I would call fair.

So, that is why *I* am down on it.  It is profitable to mine, no doubt, but as soon as there is value in the coin and the owner of the 1M decides to dump, you, the one who spent time mining, are left holding a ton of useless coins.

I think he already mentioned that he doesnt have 1M with him,rather only 200k or so? There are people with more than that many VLC (from mining) and i think all of us are smart enough to not just dump all the coins at once and be left with nothing. So dont be so sad about this. I have 100k+ vlc too and i am okay. I am just waiting for it to go on cryptsy so that i can start trading.

the overview at www.coinchoose.com shows to me a difficulty of 0.042 with 157446 mined blocks.

But in my wallet-client I see a dfficulty of 0.00197163 with a number of  229591 already mined blocks.

So whats up here ?

I don't know why cryptsy is treating valuecoin so unfairly. I have repeated messged bitjohn about the coin but they aren't responding to me. Well they aren't adding a lot of coins lately due to various website updates rolling in i guess.

Anyways, I believe it was said by bitvern (owner of cryptsy) that if the dev pays us in bitcoins, we see that the dev is indeed willing to support the coin so we will list the coin sooner.

So, if you all want to help the btc collection started to be paid to cryptsy, we can do it 2 ways i believe.

1) You can all send 0.1BTC or more to an address that I control, i will then send the whole amount at once to bitvern.

2) We can do escrow thru John K. and have him send the BTC to bitvern.

If i am not wrong, John K. charges a escrow fee so that would dilute our effort and i am not sure he would even do a escrow of this kind.

This is strange and will be outrageous if true. Cryptsy makes profit by charging trading fees. It does not and should not charge a front fee to get listed.

Thats not true. It is on the list of coins to be listed. Its taking this long only because of the premine. But those premine coins have been diluted enough to not affect the price.

So now its being delayed by cryptsy for no apparent reason at all.

Well clearly some people are mining this. It was one of the first coins I figured out how to mine, so I check on it from time to time, as I found it funny at first how easy it was to find blocks.

There are most certainly people quietly squirrelling array ValueCoins. Perhaps they know something we don't know. Or perhaps it's just in the hopes that the dev will actually bother with this coin ever again.
