Wow so many people are mining ValueCoin now.
Network hashrate at 135Mhs now.
I guess even the big fish know that valuecoin is gonna go on the exchange soon.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

So, I pulled Valuecoin-qt, got it installed and running.
However, I don't see any active connections to the network at all.
When I go in to the debug console and type "getpeerinfo" I'm getting nothing back.
Did I miss a valuecoin.conf file creation where I need to specify peers?

Give it a few minutes. It will find the peers. If it doesnt, maybe your firewall is blocking the client from connecting to any nodes.
Restarting the client could help too.

Soooo... what stops someone from taking their 26Mhs out of the network for 1hr and letting difficulty drop.
Then, throwing it back in after the drop?

He can do it indeed but it won't help much because the difficulty will rise again in a few blocks. So they just let it hash away for a few days non-stop. More people mining ValueCoin now. News of going on exchange is a big motivator. |
