It could be a X100+ ;) My MANA is also up x10 and growing. There are many good gems to watch closely in 2018

We need to wait and see. 2018 will be the year of crypto currencies for sure, especially if the Bitcoin's price keep increasing highly in the few next months. Also we need to study the Ethereum price because its the most powerful altcoin right now.

I agree with the author, now many people have entered the market by buying bitcoin. Soon they will begin to study the market in more detail and will buy altcoins

I also have hopes for some altcoins in 2018. I do not know what coins you are betting, but I hope that your dreams will be fulfilled. For too long, the ethereum and other altcoins do not show good growth.

Why you expect this? With such extream rise of bitcoin (and Ethereum next) less and less people will invest in altcoins (especially huge amount), more and more will prefer just hold btc/eth and get easy profit.

I myself am still in the process of occupying all the projects whose potential is very good and good in investing both in the long term or short term.

I think it makes a lot of sense. In my line of work, a lot of people pay with crypto, and bitcoin is far from the majority of transactions. It's too slow to be used too much, and with ETH nearly breaking over that stupid cryptokitties shit, I think it's going to go the same way. So if all currencies are having problems with load, it makes sense transaction would spread to a larger variety of coins. Thus, altcoins shoot up in value.

One day it is the death of altcoins the next the year of altcoins, make up your minds people. I do think that several altcoins will do well in 2018 but certainly only the stronger ones and the ones that have good development and community. The P n D coins will be gone for a the foreseeable future although don't rule pumps out because there are a few coins in the top 100 that have no business being there right now.

I sometimes think that if they will be real and they will complete their promises then it will be much beneficial for the investors as after the success of these projects they will give a side profit to the investors and will become another source of trade for the traders.

But I think only few ones will be in x10 or x100, and only altcoins with a big project and real use. It's impossible to see +1000 altcoins in x10 and all projects being successful.

That's probably a good news to me because I have some eth in my wallet. Crypto is really doing such great job for having the biggest value in the market. Many altcoin holders will be happy if in the year 2018 would be the year of altcoin. I'm happy waiting because digital currency is now dominating all over the market.

If that is true, then it is good to invest in promising ICOs that are still on-going now. But I have seen a thread here that says, ICO will fail or fall this coming year 2018. I do hope that this won't happen and for the promising ICOs to have a chance to launch their projects.

2017 also the year of altcoin. So many good altcoin now increasing like etherium and waves as well.

I strongly agree with that, now more people know about bitcoin, and huge amount of capitals are flowing, even the large institution will come in, there will be next bitcoin like price movement on some altcoin.

I totally agree with you dude, there's an influx of new investors lately and we saw a major bull run in alts the past few days. Only if bitcoin didn't go to new ATH then alts must have maintained the growth. Most of my holdings now fell below 20-30% losses, although there's one exception with the stash I'm holding, and that is DeepOnion. It's amazing to see this coin maintain, and even pump its price back to almost near ATH the past few days. It's still in a 30% gain as I post my reply right now which is quite astonishing as most alts are down right now.

It's a no brainer though why DeepOnion is maintaining its price. Digging in deeper would show how massive the community is, with that alone loyal members will hold on to their coin for life. They are anticipating the future progress of DeepOnion. With the upcoming DeepSend feature, DeepOnion would change the face of privacy coins forever. New nodes are also added, and everyday, more and more people are getting to know what this coin is all about. not just hype, but a real project with value.

I think that's why it's going to happen as other coins are rising like bitcoins and maybe all the coins will be increased so they will be able to change in the coming 2018 and also earn all the people around the world who buy crypto currencies . There are also many people who are struggling with their altcoins that it has been a few years after it has gone up, so it is still a bitcoin for others.

People are getting to know Bitcoins, as they enter into the market, they may come to know ICO and other coins that offer opportunities. Hence, if all things be equal, 2018 will see more interested traders in altcoins.

Once all these new investors who are buying up BTC feels BTC is too expensive, they will start to turn their attention to altcoins.
We should see a pump of the top 10 alt coins then follow by the next top 30 coins.

This is similar to how the stock markets work... we usually see the big caps get pump in a bull market and after all the big cap stocks have run up, the small caps will start their run. Buy your altcoins and hold throughout 2018!

Who knows 2018 would be the year for altcoins. There are a few altcoins ready to pump in 2018. Iota, Neo, Dash, Monero, Waves and Eth.

With all the shitcoins coming around, I'm sure that we can find at least the proverbial "needle in a haystick" in 2018. New shitcoins arrived, lots of hype around it, investors get interested, pump-and-dump and then BOOM x100's in few days. Book your profit and then look for the next, that's how it is. But the questions is how we gonna find out that one coin that will make us all rich? Would be interesting isn't it?

And to the existing coins, I still go with the top 1-10 in coinmarketcap. I think they are still undervalued this year because of the China ban ICO's and of course the bitcoin sweepstakes that we are seeing. I myself have some ETH that I didn't dump event though is reaches its all-time-high this year. I'm looking at 2018 as the year of the altcoins. Lots of project around, lots of IT companies interested, specially smart contracts. Let's see though. Just watch the top 1-5 this year, it would be huge.

What's gonna happen by the fall year is still a myth. The price of bitcoin seems peaking high, whereas the altcoins are going low as it is paired with bitcoin. I started investing in July and as I didn't have much money, I invested a little in 5 altcoins waiting for a short time big return in one of them and ignored Bitcoin (I didn't expect to have a 7x growth so soon :o). And while I see bitcoin growing, I'm currently 10% under what I invested.


I am sure they will go up eventually and I will make some profit, but with this bitcoin situation, it gives us the need to be even more patient and firm with our beliefs.

Yes, I'm holding... but lately (maybe for seem many of these opportunities pass by the last days), I've been flirting with the temptation to change some of my altcoins when they get on ATH, for bitcoin after a drop because it would probably recover fast and the altcoin (for being even more volatile), would eventually drop too... so I could buy more coins than I had before the trade. But it's very risky and I'm a newbie, I don't think I should deal with short terms investments (at least right now). Therefore, I hold.

Those coin who are early lost its volume they are shit coins who only wanting to scam investors or some coin which has no good project that can compete in the crypto world that is why no one will wanting to support their project.

I am agree that 2018 is the year of altcoin for at the current year it is insane year of bitcoin and most of the altcoin dropping its value because lots of people are now focus on bitcoin trend. Hoping that next year altcoin would start to increase their value.

Every altcoin, enjoy this trip. I think any of altcoin blood will keep increasing its price, it will be easy for any existing altcoin, maybe as an example is XRP. which expects all this to happen is certainly the investors who invest altcoin. But do not count your chickens until they hatch.

This could be iota, or no? It already made 15x growth in short period of time. Maybe we should seek some ico coins so that we can start from the beginning and make crazy amount of profits like 100x or so.

A word of caution on Ethereum: it is great technology and certainly pioneered the ICO landscape, but there are many coins out there (such as my fave <3) with similar yet improved capabilities that were built from the ground up to be more efficient, secure, and effective. For instance, an Ethereum ICO grants the creator a token, essentially a future representation of an actual blockchain/cryptocurrency. The company is then locked into Ethereum, it’s success/failure, and gas prices. Komodo Platform decentralized ICO grants the issuer a complete blockchain that can be moved off Komodo Platform if necessary/desired. That itself is monumental. Also there is no gas and they get secured with Bitcoin’s hashrate.

What a positive noted my friend! I look forward as well on how alt coins will make it on 2018 and how it will also do great like what bitcoin did. Well, this could be possible for a lot of developers now are really striving hard to make their alternative currencies to be marketed well in many ways. Ethereum, for example, is a good way to look because it is being developed and is now accepted by people. A lot of known or famous people as well in the business are starting to educate people about cryto currencies and that is making bitcoin and alt coins knows in the market. I can't wait for the time that these will be all well accepted and hope that 2018 could be a year of that atleast one step to its great success.

I agree with the statement that 2018 would be the year of x10-x50 for many alts - and I connect this with the issues that the first two coins had: Bitcoin with its constantly growing fees which for now are higher than the custom banks ones and therefore we see the number of unconfirmed transactions rise once again.
And as to Ethereum - the launch of the Cryptokitties - shows how its blockchain could be stuck with the simple game made an Ether transaction during the hustle and bustle, and how one may have been caught off guard by the delay.
So the new blockchain solutions of those problems will be in great demand.

I think this mentality specifically is what's destroying our once healthy market.
If you can not see that crypto is in a bubble now, then you are totally blind or in denial.

Look at the rise in 2017, not just bitcoin but with the vast majority of alts.  It is fantastic!
But it is entirely unsustainable.
Now, with btc going mainstream and hundreds of thousands of new investors pouring in money into btc, the situation is getting worse even more quickly.

BTC will survive when the bubble bursts.  ETH too.  They both have actual real life uses.
But no we have a market flooded with coins that have no working product or platform that is in competition with so many other similar coins.  How many smart contract projects are there? ETH, ADA, NEO, WAVES...they are all going to balloon?  Or even several of them?  How many payment coins? How many AI projects?

No all are going to survive and I think 2018 is not the enjoy the ride year but the cry and lost money year while those who made smart choices based on actual data and sound investment practices will be toasting to a job well done.

I hope your prediction will become true. The year 2017 also began with a very good days, weeks and months for altcoins. As a matter of fact, almost the entire 5 months in 2017 saw the rising of the value of so many altcoins. It was so high that the months that followed were almost all downward movements. The bouncing back of these altcoins' values only came in the last couple of months of 2017.

If it might happend, I'm one of the luckiest bitcoiner because i'm still holding some of my altcoins though its not as good value compare to bitcoin but I believed that I can earn more by holding this altcoins. Hopefully by next year as the time of crypto currency  that for sure many will believed this kind of business that they believed before as a scam.

The upcoming year 2018 has been expected to be the year of altcoins and in a thread it's stated that ethereum shows good price pumping as it is found almost in a stable manner throughout the year. Upon which I too have the hope that ethereum will increase high than many other altcoins that are available in the market.

I agree, there are some extremely promising new projects emerging with strong corporate backing and some solid dev teams with a lot of real world experience running them. I have seen at least 3 new up and coming projects in the last week that i think are capable of making it x100 at least and i have bought into all 3 of them also. So kudos to the coming year of the alts and may we all emerge wealthy!~~

There's a lot of altcoins in crypto currency industry, I guess there are some altcoins that increase their value, there were decrease and there were also stable. We can't know if the altcoins are make a boom next year. Maybe whatever happen we need to be ready just stayed believe in the crypto currency you have and hold it for long run of time

Hardly think that's gonna happen. The way Bitcoin is riding this journey it makes me think Altcoins will be dust cheap by the next year.
Everything depends on the lightning network now as this is the only thing that can solve the ongoing issues with the BTC netowrk.
If the issues are solved then BTC will skyrocket and if not then BTC will crash in thousands of dollars.

I would better say that 2017 was the year of Bitcoin, and 2018 will be the year of Ethereum, DASH and NEO. I am more than sure that these cryptocurrencies will start their race with the fastest speed that they can show.

Yes, this is the year of the altcoin and survival of the fittest as the mass adoption takes place, significant increase in precautionary measure regarding crypto regulation strengthen, and only the altcoin who is willing to obey obsolete rules and decentralize one will surely surive.

And PINCOIN is I'm sure , one of that. They are copliant against state regulation and has a legal advisor for such preventive measure.

Agree, year 2017 was year of bitcoin, 2018 will be the altcoin year cuz we see that in last months Ethereum popularity grows rapidly. Also other altcoins are used more and more.

If those altcoins' prices wont be affected by bitcoin, then it is possible. Like if the price of bitcoin price decreases, altcoin's price will increase not because bitcoin is sinking but due to demand.
But i am not certain about it.

I see that many people calculate price of their altcoins in USD. I'm not sure if this is correct. ;)

Of course, that is an undoubted fact because this market is still so young that this great volatility will continue for many years, especially because great whales have learned to do business with pump and dumps coins and quite often we will continue to see these impressive price swings in the market.

I think 2018 will be a crazy year. Many altcoins will grow exponentially, going 10-20x even... I think that bitkoyn will grow more in the first half of 2018 than in the second half. Therefore I think that altkoins will grow to a large extent in the second half of next year. I made x14 on Ethereum so I see no reasons why 2018 won't be the year of the altcoins. I believe that investing in top-15 coins will bring you nice benefits, as well you can try lower ones but it might be too risky.

All we can do now is to be hopeful for that. There is no sure assurance here. But I believe in some altcoins  but maybe not as much as 100x. Myself I noticed that Bitcoin lost a lot of market cap, from 90% it went down to as low as 30%. I think Altcoins will have a stronger word to say in 2018. Bitcoin might go as down as 20%

We hope so but for all altcoins become green again, this red zone taking too long. People will chose what the best for them even look's impossible but never give up is the best option.  i agree . 2018 is definetly the year for altcoin because almost all of them is experiencing a price decline and investors are happy with it , thats the main reason why they call 2018 a year for altcoins however  altcoins are not the only one that experiencing a price reductions because even bitcoin and other tokens like erc20 are also on the list  .

Looking back 2018 was the year of the demise of the altcoin the majority crashed to 90 or even 99% of their former values. Let's hope that when we see the next Bull run perhaps early in 2019 that they make an equally strong recovery.

We take the positive side. If the decline occurs almost 90% then the chance for an increase will be 90% as well. Moreover, the current price is quite angry, if our analysis is good and choose a potential altcoin then when prices bounce we will get a profit.

Big thumbs up for Divi. They are on the right track. Once they implement more of the easy to use features above and get us some ways to spend our earnings, its going to be awesome. Along with some price appreciation, I cant wait to be able to spend my divi online, pay a bill, cash out some at a crypto atm or buy something instore. Sure I can do this with btc and a few other coins but none of those allow me to run a masternode and be part of a good community. Of all the crypto projects ive looked at, Divi has the most potential on a whole (once the roadmap is complete) of adoption and use by no-coiners. They have great ideas and an empty slate to work with (ie. they are virtually unknown right now and have no formed public opinion like btc and others have, good, bad or otherwise)

That doesn't only happen to Altcoin because the queen of all types of Altcoin also experiences it, namely Bitcoin. So it's only natural that all the other Altcoins have decreased which is very surprising right now.

It is quite the opposite of the expected rises pump. We have suffered a lot on the year 2018,  even before the year starts, we already experienced possible drop for the price of the tokens and the coins. I think 2018 is the best and the worst for crypto.  In January the price increase was very high and in Q2 2018 till now the price falls very deep. In addition, 2018 is also filled with many scam ICO's.

For most of the crypto owners, 2018 was very painful, at least for those who bought in 2018 while market was on its peak. At the beginning there was greenery everywhere in the market but the situation turn in the mid of 2018.Since  market was on its peak, many new investors got attracted towards crypto. The Bitcoin ETF decision made a turning point and stopped the rally. It effects not only bitcoin but also all the crypto since bitcoin is still leading crypto world as leader. I think this is still far from your imagination in 2018 which is the dark history of crypto currency as an example is ethereum, in 2019 ethereum created a new hardfork and it has not had a positive impact on ethereum prices now.

Unfortunately, the price is still regulated by speculators and whales.
