Many altcoins are mooning every year. I expect 2018 to be special because of growing community and the huge number of newcomers to cryptos world.

I agree with the statement that 2018 would be the year of x10-x50 for many alts - and I connect this with the issues that the first two coins had: Bitcoin with its constantly growing fees which for now are higher than the custom banks ones and therefore we see the number of unconfirmed transactions rise once again.
And as to Ethereum - the launch of the Cryptokitties - shows how its blockchain could be stuck with the simple game made an Ether transaction during the hustle and bustle, and how one may have been caught off guard by the delay.
So the new blockchain solutions of those problems will be in great demand.

I think this mentality specifically is what's destroying our once healthy market.
If you can not see that crypto is in a bubble now, then you are totally blind or in denial.

Look at the rise in 2017, not just bitcoin but with the vast majority of alts.  It is fantastic!
But it is entirely unsustainable.
Now, with btc going mainstream and hundreds of thousands of new investors pouring in money into btc, the situation is getting worse even more quickly.

BTC will survive when the bubble bursts.  ETH too.  They both have actual real life uses.
But no we have a market flooded with coins that have no working product or platform that is in competition with so many other similar coins.  How many smart contract projects are there? ETH, ADA, NEO, WAVES...they are all going to balloon?  Or even several of them?  How many payment coins? How many AI projects?

No all are going to survive and I think 2018 is not the enjoy the ride year but the cry and lost money year while those who made smart choices based on actual data and sound investment practices will be toasting to a job well done.

i support the OP on what he speculate,for me because of the
continuing growth of bitcoin that didnt expect by more of us.for sure
before year end or early next year ot will dump..and thats why we

I hope your prediction will become true. The year 2017 also began with a very good days, weeks and months for altcoins. As a matter of fact, almost the entire 5 months in 2017 saw the rising of the value of so many altcoins. It was so high that the months that followed were almost all downward movements. The bouncing back of these altcoins' values only came in the last couple of months of 2017.

We need to wait and see. 2018 will be the year of crypto currencies for sure, especially if the Bitcoin's price keep increasing highly in the few next months. Also we need to study the Ethereum price because its the most powerful altcoin right now.

If it might happend, I'm one of the luckiest bitcoiner because i'm still holding some of my altcoins though its not as good value compare to bitcoin but I believed that I can earn more by holding this altcoins. Hopefully by next year as the time of crypto currency  that for sure many will believed this kind of business that they believed before as a scam.

I hope it will happen if in the coming 2018, Because some of all altcoins now are have some low values. We know the altcoins it come back in the high values but in 2018 i think. For now the bitcoins are always pump so the altcoins are dump.

I agree, there are some extremely promising new projects emerging with strong corporate backing and some solid dev teams with a lot of real world experience running them. I have seen at least 3 new up and coming projects in the last week that i think are capable of making it x100 at least and i have bought into all 3 of them also. So kudos to the coming year of the alts and may we all emerge wealthy!~~

There's a lot of altcoins in crypto currency industry, I guess there are some altcoins that increase their value, there were decrease and there were also stable. We can't know if the altcoins are make a boom next year. Maybe whatever happen we need to be ready just stayed believe in the crypto currency you have and hold it for long run of time

All people who are now investing in BTC will start moving BTC to other alt coins like

EOS
DASH
MONERO
IOTA
ETC

and so on..

So I am convinced alotcoins will have in the middle term a good future ;-)
Of course a corrections can be here easily as well but use it for buying cheap new coins!!

Hardly think that's gonna happen. The way Bitcoin is riding this journey it makes me think Altcoins will be dust cheap by the next year.
Everything depends on the lightning network now as this is the only thing that can solve the ongoing issues with the BTC netowrk.
If the issues are solved then BTC will skyrocket and if not then BTC will crash in thousands of dollars.

Indeed we deserve to wait in 2018 because currently bitcoin also often decreased.Hopefully altcoin able to rise and be able to achieve glory so that hunters can get bigger profits than the previous year.
