My original 2011 bitcointalk hero account suddenly got hacked

I already sent a signed PGP message to Cyrus & theymoss but they did not reply

please help.

They are the only ones which are able to help you, and  you just need to remain patient as there's a current backlog on recovering accounts as it's not the highest priority. Send a reminder every week or two without spamming them. As long as you've provided them with sufficient evidence and it's formatted quickly, they will eventually get around to you.

Thanks for your respond, yeah it sad that a hacker broke bitcointalk database but I dont understand why bitcointalk forum did not enforced a new security like SMS Auth or 2FA for login, it did not even remind me to change the password ?

Sadly have the same problem on a Senior member account. Thing is that I never posted my BTC address anywhere so now someone is just using my account to collect bounties..

i suppose you are use your birthday date for password, there are a lot of hacked account with this method.

No I did not use my birthday as my password, I used quite complex password , the database must be leaked to get my password.

Did you change your password after 2012 Bitcointalk Database breach?
If not, we know how they figured out your password and its being sold at Darknet Marketplace.

Try to send Theymos or Cyrus PM every few months, Chances are your PM got skipped by them accidentally.
I just recovered my accounts too, it took me around 4 months for Cyrus to reply to my PM :)

When did the last time you PM'ed either Theymos or Cyrus?
Try to PM them again, your PM might get skipped by them accidentaly
I recovered my account within 5 months, you might recover your account at around my time or longer if you're not lucky enough.

You just got to keep on trying them every so often. I'm not sure how frequent but, send a reminder every 2 weeks/month and eventually they should get back to you. Judging by the amount of people complaining they have been waiting for months there's a huge backlog currently. So it's unlikely they've missed your messages, it's just there's so many people before you in the queue.

I think hackers aimed for merit points.
I think that the number of people suffering from the hacking will increase in future. :(

I've seen a lot of these threads with users who have proven they own a hacked account but I see very few being recovered. I don't think theymos has the time to help every one of these hacked accounts.

I know it isn't what you want to hear but there is a 90% (or very high) chance that your account wont be recovered.

been trying to PM them with GPG signed with my old BTC address.

My account has also hacked they change my email address. I locked my account so as nobody can use it. I already wrote a message to Cyrus. I hope he will answer me in a few days later.

There are many people who have the same experience as you, too long to recover their account.

if according to l try contact or send message once again to PGP Cyrus where know message you no sign in perhaps because for this often interference lnternet.

It is very shocked moment, because Hero account is very valuable. You should send again a PGP message to Cyrus & Theymos, cause they are very busy and laborious. i have a little experience like that. Hopefully you will get back your Hero member account.

Yeah I understand that admins also have work to do in real-life but this is just a basic problem and I already provided proof, no reply at all from 3 months.

Just a little more patience. Some account took more than 6 months to be recovered. I know your angry and upset for waiting this long but im sure that your account is on their "list" that needs to be recovered. There are so many accounts that needs to be recovered and only few people assigned for that job, so please add a little more patience.

Can you quote the post in which you posted your bitcoin address that you used to sign a message to send cyrus/theymos? Did you double check that said message wasn't edited? If it was edited then it doesn't count. Ideally you want a closed thread.

But anyway sit tight because unfortunately, the recovery process is insanely low, even for these that provide sufficient proof, there doesn't seem to be any priority, even for older high ranked accounts.

You posted signed message from November 2017. Can you please sign another message with today's date?
I see that your account hdclover is in use at the moment, it participates in signature campaign and last post was yesterday. I suggest that DT member tags your account so that hacker will not be able to participate in campaigns. After you get your account back, he can remove negative feedback.

As I understood he posted a message that he sent to administration and looks like everything is fine. Almost 8 months already, jeez.

BTW. Did you check your SPAM folder? They say restoration email goes there if you use gmail.

6 months no progress and whoever has access to the account is using it in a paid sig camp
there are two staked address posted by hdclover, one in 2015 and another in 2018 after reported hacked

It would be extremely irritating to see my account being used by someone else to rack up BTC on signature campaigns.


He signed a 2015 one, he obviously needs to get his account back. This forum cannot let this sort of injustice happening, it's really nonsense, considering it takes a minute to reset the password to his requested email. Theymos seriously needs to hire staff to get this done faster or if someone gets rejected, at least explain why and don't let the guy waiting infinitely.

I think some kind of automated system has to be created for this purpose. It's not that hard to implement a bot with the administration permissions who will be able to receive messages from people in some format, check their info, signed messages, etc. and send links to reset password to their emails. It'd be much easier and faster than it is nowadays.

I am not much regular in the board anymore because of some shit happened with my image in here however I do miss the community and love it. I thought this hack/lost account issue was started to take seriously but looking at this makes me feel bad.

Theymos is failing to satisfy his members I am afraid. Getting hacked or any accident is a normal thing for any kind of online accounts. Please do something for this types of incidence and give the accounts back to the members.

Congratulations.

It's so saddened for you to lose such account (hero member) by hackers. I believe something can be done to recover it back. Never lose hope, keep sharing, Theymos will surely do something about it. This not what you will keep mute or sober about it. Keep pushing until you retrieve your account
