The problem of scalability has reared its ugly head again this time when transactions are clogging and when we are about to experience the coming of the Bitcoin Futures. People have been expecting that soon Bitcoin can reach the mainstream with the legitimization it has been going through with the introduction of the Bitcoin Futures Contracts.

People are now strongly complaining of the shockingly high fees imposed by wallets and exchanges for the transfer of Bitcoin and this should not be ignored by those tasked with making decisions for Bitcoin. This whole thing can kill Bitcoin gradually if not given the appropriate remedy.

Do you feel like discouraged about Bitcoin with this latest debacle?

On the contrary, I'm proud of Bitcoin's upbeat boarding of the Chicago Board of Trade, which I think would be even better if the blockchain problem could be completely solved.

Am I disappointed? Very. I probably sound like a broken record already, but bitcoin is really just crippled right now. Pretty much the only thing that bitcoin is alive right now is just because it's the #1 cryptocurrency and it's the cryptocurrency that gets all the media attention. If bitcoin was a top >10 coin I think bitcoin would be dead already. Sure, lightning network is coming. This will be a huge step especially for merchants to accept BTC, but I don't think this will be enough. Only time will tell, and I'm still definitely hoping for the best.

yeah blockchain problem is a bit discouraged about bitcoin. because if theirs a lot of people putting a huge amount of  bitcoin in blockchain  there is a tendency that's system would crash or it work so slow. another thing is that bitcoin don't have stable price so if you have a lot of bitcoin i suggest use a right wallet were in even though bitcoin price would fall down it would not affect the volume of your bitcoin, unlike other wallet your profit would depend on how high or low each bitcoin price. so that's are the things that bitcoin would discouraged in the long run.

If the bitcoin price and the cost of the hatus out at the time of the transaction, it must be followed, because it all depends on the price of bitcoin itself, so, I think it's a fair matter, and I'm not discouraged

no im not Discouraged with Bitcoin in fact im always thankful to bitcoin because bitcoin gave me an oppurtunity to earn a profit because im investing on it. bitcoin has helped majority of people and for sure most of those people are dont have any problems or anger about bitcoin.  i believe can be improved and fixed soon because bitcoin can do amazing things and totally improved the society of economy and it can also add an innovation to the country because of its state of the art blockchain technology.

Not really. I have always known about the problem, and I'm sure many others have as well. It has always been a growing concern, it's just that we're only experiencing the actual problem now (Bitcoin Cash attack doesn't count because it was artificial), which is sooner than we probably expected. I don't even think that we're too slow to solve the problem. It's not easy coming up with solutions that would work for the majority. It's just that Bitcoin has grown so much the past few months, that the development is unable to keep up.

I would still preach patience here, and even though there's nothing more I would like than mass adoption, I hope Bitcoin futures will be the last mainstream "window" for a while. Bitcoin can't handle it, and it risks ruining its reputation.

I trust in bitcoin but I am little bit discouraged for bitcoin transaction time that is nowadays sometime take long time and high transaction fees. As we all say bitcoin is easy to transfer across the world but sometime when we do transaction of bitcoin price were high when the transaction clears price sometimes drop so that loss sometimes discourage. So I want they should fix it up and make sure transaction took less time.

Bitcoin is no more useful to make micro transactions but for larger transactions bitcoin payments is way cheaper and secure than usual centralized payment methods.

Its better to not make micro payments right now with bitcoin, when lightening network will be enabled it will be possible to make micro payments through off chain transactions.

The fees I am discouraged but bitcoin overall I am not necessarily discouraged in bitcoin, because investing on it still has it's benefit and advantages. Because it still offers it's unique features. Although I agree with you with the high transaction fee and if not found solutiom as early as possible it could definitely kill bitcoin.

Maybe you and a few others knew about the problem but it is the real thing that may discourage newcomers (i.e. pople who have just heard about bitcoin). For sure "having just heard about bitcoin" implies "having just heard that it is wildly congested at the moment" too, wouldn'y you agree?

And what OP is afraid of (and I am afraid of it too) is that the thing may gradually discourage newcomers and eventually kill bitcoin.

I'm not at all disappointed in it and I am a firm believer that it will get better and be adopted more and more globally. Bitcoin will also improve its code and protocol... I have no doubt. I, for one, see a bright future ahead.

Maybe it's a cunning plan? I'm certainly not a supporter of conspiracy theories but it seems to me that someone really wants to the whole capital of the bitcoins stored in a bitcoin cash for example. At some point we can become this witness but nothing can not do. I don't see any other explanation for the fact that the developers are not in a hurry to solve the problem of transactions.

Bitcoin is even giving courage and hope to those people who do not have any day job and the were hopeless, now they are hopeful that they can also lead a standard life. In present time even those people who do not have any day job still they can get a decent amount of money from bitcoin. Now they can also fulfill their needs needs with the help of bitcoin. I am sure that bitcoin will continue giving them profit and will even give them life support. I am also getting good support from bitcoin, as bitcoin give me some extra income from which i am fulfill my own as well as my family needs and wishes.

Discouraging with Bitcoin would be like, not satisfied with the current Bitcoin progress or even disagreeing with its future potential. People who had invest in Bitcoin a decade ago had the belief in it and thats why they had invested in Bitcoin.

yeah, already got a little bit discourage because of that things happen about the high cost fees, but we dont have a right change that majority things about that concerning us to make low the cost of fees, maybe some other exchage sites are want to gain more profits from that, but we all dont know the reason, or maybe exchange site made a cost of high fee because of they cant afford to paid the high fee in the blockchain and we (clients) will suffer that fees to be paid of.

That's exactly the problem, bitcoin isn't and shouldn't become mainstream. It hasn't been foreseen for a high volume of transactions. There are more altcoins which can become reference and support the "weaknesses" of bitcoin.

Cost of the existing fee is currently incriminating us all in making transactions using bitcoin, but it is a consequence because the current price increases Bitcoin so that if we convert to dollar then it will feel very big. but what I really regret is this time that the slower the transaction, I will not question about the amount of fee. slowness of delivery becomes a very serious problem.

this is business so of course when bitcoin price increase they will also increase the fees and they would grab the opportunity to gain more profit. the problem is those that own small amount of bitcoin because it will kill them step by step.

I agree with the general sentiment here that bitcoin needs plenty of upgrading. Hopefully the Lightning Network will be implemented soon for both bitcoin and Litecoin. Greater capacity will certainly bring more interest in bitcoin among the mainstream.

Bitcoin is a good technology that helps people make transactions easily. Every transaction are having fees just like normal transactions so it is not different to any transactions. Having a high value requires a high price just like taxes so I am not discouraged to use bitcoin. I am glad that bitcoin was invented because it gives everyone an opportunity to have an alternative source of income and it makes people do transactions easily and internationally so it is not a good thing to be discourage on a latest technology that makes people's life easier.

The only thing that does discourage me is the cost of fees if wanting fast confirmation. It makes bitcoin hard to really emerge as a daily currency if it's going to cost a lot to transfer.

Im not discouraged about bitcoin because it gives a great help and promotes raising up of poverties. Bitcoin is encouragable thing that needs to give more time ir prioritized. We cannot deny the fact that bitcoin should gave a great help and its reduces unemployment.

Indeed, bitcoin has some issues but we can not deny the fact that no matter what bitcoin is still changing people lives.
Bitcoin scalability is the best thing to do to make bitcoin near perfect currency if the not the most perfect one for now.
Market price ups and downs gives people the opportunity to buy low and sell when the price gets higher and make profit.

The opposite for me actually, I am really encouraged with how its doing. The way I see it, any problems with bitcoin with fees or whatever. will mean more money being put into altcoins, thus growing cryptocurrency anyways.

Yeah we know that thing, we can't deny the fact about the great opportunity that bitcoin's provided to us for the past 8 years, breaking all the records and limits that the crypto has been done before, but we can't also deny the fact that it is disappointing to experience slow transaction process for confirmations and high rated transfer fees that make a regular trader or investor discouraged by its common problem, you will understand once you regularly transfer large amount of bitcoin to many wallets addresses for the mean time all of the bitcoin enthusiasts are still waiting for the fix that the lightning network promised.

Yes I am a little discouraged with bitcoin, just a little bit, the moment that bitcoin value increases I was not able to buy some other cryptocurrency which accept bitcoins all of the transaction fee increases too. I really think bitcoin is not for all anymore only for those who can afford and having an big investments already or the whales.

Not discourage but disappointed and impatient with the result of the slow transaction and the high fees.  We could just hope that this will improve.  There are a lot of incoming exchanges and hopefully they will improve or resolve this concerns.

Truly. It's very discouraging  to see such a high fee that too for such a long time. Even Segwit also was not able to solve the problem. Most of the bitcoin users still don't know about how to use Segwit for transactions.Even if we use the Segwit address, the receiver also has to use Segwit address. Otherwise it's useless. Even many companies are discussing to stop accepting bitcoin payments.The last hope is lightning network.

Not at all because I am seeing great potential when it comes to Bitcoin and the whole cryptocurrency. Although I miss the days when there was still an option of 0 fees whenever I send funds to other wallets. Hope they can do something about this problem.

In business everyone want to earn and gain money more and more so when the price will increase then the fee will also be increase but it is not a serious matter to be discouraged. How man can be discourage when he getting/earning a lot from bitcoin business I think he will encourage with huge earning.

While Bitcoin has great potential and still can improve, I do see the clogging up of transactions as well as the omgOP fees a drawback for now. I have merely held by Bitcoins and will continue to do so until transactions will become less expensive and the network less congested.

I have been disappointed many times with the problem of network congestion in the high transfer costs of bitcoin. You know, now I'm trying to use other altcoin in exchange transfer, and then to the miners and others to convert into bitcoin, which is really a lot of trouble.

It is indeed expensive and very much a hassle to use Bitcoin as a daily mode of payment, at least for now. For me, it is holding Bitcoin back from truly becoming the best, but I just hope that it can get around this obstacle one day.

Even though i am a bit disappointed by the recent value of bitcoins which is way beyond the expectations that i had for the year, I will not go as far to say that i am discouraged by the recent turn of events which is mainly due to some outside interferences.

At times, I am also worried about bitcoin because now the bitcoin trading time is quite long, I usually take about 30 minutes for each transaction. Bitcoin trading fees on the trading sites are being pushed up quite high, which is also preventing many new investors from accessing bitcoin because they do not accept this high fee. OP we are here because crypto is a one way to become a better person like we learn many ideas and different knowledge here so if you don't like what it give or what you experience you can easily forget crypto like close your phone and don't update here yourself.Crypto for me is good for past time so everytime i see a post like negative or shit post here my mind telling me that i need to post in that discussion.

until now I remain optimistic and will continue to optimize on bitcoin, with the provision that it is better to increase the bitcoin positions are increasingly different day and have a level that is quite special in its class. the amount charged to the wallet against every bitcoin transaction in my opinion is still reasonable and in accordance with the bitcoin capacity, and this will not make a loss.

I am not discouraged with Bitcoin it is the people who are bitcoin as it is today. Bitcoin can't increase the fees by itself unless there are people paying higher fees for it to make their transaction complete faster. Everybody wants their transaction to complete faster and so they keep on paying higher fees. If they stop doing this for once , you will notice how less the bitcoin fees could be.
Bitcoin has been going very well until people became greedy for money and started manipulating BTC. One has to pay a price for the wrong deeds.

My outlook for bitcoin is still promising, but it's just a bit frustrating to be slow to join the circle.

I don't feel discouraged despite knowing those issues. I still believe in bitcoin and just think that its just natural to struggle at some point. Last time the transaction fees became low as I remember so I guess not only the price of bitcoin goes up and down but the transaction fees as well.

I don't really feel discouraged continuing with Bitcoin and I believe the same thing. Investing in bitcoin has really provided us profit that helped us in so many ways. And with regards to the fees, I have small issues with it and it will be a lot better if bitcoin will regulate the transaction fees to minimal amount, thus helping the small traders still manage to earn with even small transactions and withdrawals. They should find the most effective solution to avoid long ques of withdrawal transactions just like how they performed last year and handle the increasing numbers of investors. Smooth transactions and fees are minimal only.

high fees? because people focus fee with currency. if you send 1 btc the fees only 0,001 on other word the fees only 0,1% from amount of bitcoin.
if btc 1 = $12000 so fee only $12. i am not mad if fees $12. maybe other people $12 too high for fee.

That really is a worrying issue. Because bitcoin is growing and its price is increasing. That means the transaction fee will increase more. We have to spend a lot of money to trade, but I think the numbers are reasonable. If you trade large amounts of money through a bank, the transaction fees will be higher and the level of security of your assets will be lower.

Lightning network is what i really hope would prove to be a game changing move in the Crypto world. What is the most recent prediction right now is that transaction fees will be reduced to a great extent with the advent of lightning network. But of course it is not guaranteed.

But whatsoever is the situation, I am not dismayed or discouraged with bitcoin. Moreover bitcoin has set its level way too higher as compared to other Crypto currencies, so that makes it one of its kind!!

Im actually used to tgia kind of feeling. The truth is that I dont have the control over the situation. What I can just do is to.think and hope good things ti happen with bitcoin. Yes it is true, when we buy at an expensive price as if we will benefit from this bitcoin, the price actually went down, if we sell we lose, if we want to get the profit we have to be patient waiting for the bitcoin prices back to normal. although it's sometime when. maybe there's my experience of bitcoin that causes me to be discouraged.

Same here, bitcoin has oNe's again proven to it's critic how wrong they are when they announce bitcoin's death because of the declining value early this year up last week,  but now that it is rising again alot of new investors are coming to join. Honestly speaking, I'm not discouraged with Bitcoin and how it plays in the market now. Infact, I am more encouraged to buy more bitcoin as the price drops this moment. I believe will double my investment soon, and surely the price will rise. It's a matter of your emotions,strategy and trust in holding a Bitcoin.

When I look at the current size of the mempool, the transaction times and the fees, I am pleased, not discouraged.
At the moment I think the bitcoin system is working as it is supposed to be.
And even the price we see at the moment is something I can really live with.

Nope. I don't disappointed in bitcoin because we all know that how it helps many people in a sense that it became as main generating income of many people those who doesn't have any jobs. Many people today actually will also say that they are not disappointed because bitcoin helps them positively. Yes that is true...no doubt lightning network is coming...but only time will tell what's gonna happen in the future. I think the transaction fee issue is solved for now. As the transaction fee currently is pretty low at just a few sat per byte. Also with segwit and lightning network the transaction fees are going to go at just a few cents. Although few months ago the whole fork debacle discouraged me from bitcoin for some time.

That is so smart of you, there is no need to get discouraged of bitcoin. Bitcoin is facing dip at the moment but we all know that it is not something totally new. Bitcoin has gone through crash downs in the past also and recovered greatly afterwards. By the end of this year, it would worth 30k dollars as according to the crypto experts but some people also believe it to touch 50k dollars within the same duration. Whatsoever the case will be but the point to ponder is it has a great future.

Why should you be discouraged in Bitcoin, the price has dropped lately. But you should know it will increase again, no matter what. And with all positive news that cryptocurrencies are no threat to the financial stability in the world and that there should be no stringent regulations, the price of bitcoin must rise to 30K at least.

It has even decreased since that time. I am more discouraged and demotivated about the current price. Everyone is fighting bitcoin. Everyone is banning it. And that proves that they extremely are scared of it and deem it as a big threat. But I am still optimistic and positive about it.

They post negative news just to put the price at minimum and buy BTC for the best price. It they would suggest it's scam they won't issue any news about it

Absolutely not! I am actually planning to invest more because the price is still low and then hold until such time I have reached the desired income. When it comes to fees, for me that is ok because they are maintaining and improving the platform for the convenience of traders. Those negative issues will also part of why the price keeps on decreasing so I think all we need to do is to promote Bitcoin to others so that they will see the benefits of using it.

Through all what bitcoin has given to us are we had the time to be discourage?certainly nope! In terms of fees wherever you transact its still there a part of your transactions,its ok if sometimes theres a high fees because of what bitcoin also helps us through our needs,we cannot be so much selfish of our blessings,just give and take.

Transaction fees have been a problem indeed, but it seems resolved, right now as I'm writing they are about 20 satoshi/byte, now main concern is about privacy and bearish market, but market and dev teams will find a solution for the first one, and for the second one... it's just a matter of time :D, market is a tool through which money flows from impatient people to the patient ones.

I only learned about its profitability particularly in the last quarter of 2016 when I decided to join bounty campaigns. Luckily in 2017, its value surpassed all expectations. It looks like the spam attack on Bitcoin network has ended and now we can enjoy low fees. Now even big fees are not a problem if you have a Lightning Network channel opened. You see, using almost any modern wallet nowadays we can adjust fees according to the urgency of our transactions, and I do transact small amounts, but the fees isnt anything too high for me, after customizing it in my Electrum wallet. Well that's great, and for me we cannot excape the time that somehow we are being discouraged in everything that surrounds us, like here we pay harder to have our own profit but sometimes we felt like giving up because sometimes the campaigns doesnt play fair or even scams, and I think we should not focus ourselves to that part but on how our we going to be  if we are already successful.

No we're not. We have to look at the big picture. When looking at the trend, we should not look at the short term. But rather look at the trend for several years. There are really times when its value goes down but with its volatile nature, it will not stay there forever.

I've seen bitcoin getting like this for a dozen times these past few years and amidst all the crisis it has experienced, bitcoin was still able to get through and rise again after a while. I guess I am not being discouraged with bitcoin, infact, encouragements are always there.  From the people I know who became successful with bitcoin, through my own experience with it.  I will still have to get the results of what I am doing right now with bitcoin and if what ever the results may be, then I'll see if I will get discourage or be more encouraged.

We are all getting worried about what's been happening with bitcoin lately. It has been litting up possibilities that maybe bitcoin will end soon which affects the growth of investors here in crypto.
