Title: Bitcoin as a Christmas gift
Post by: hugeblack on December 23, 2017, 08:50:38 AM
Bitcoin breaking it’s high-price again and again, multiple purposes rather than payment system and future investment.
All this make bitcoin a perfect gift for your love, wife, and family.

1.  your gift for Christmas will be a bitcoin?.
2. your ways to gift bitcoins "Hardware wallet, bitcoin gifts, paper wallet, Physical Coins, Donate"?.

I think it is a unique thing to do. In my country there is an exchange that features voucher, with voucher we can give gift easily. even the service can make us directly convert to local currency. Maybe in some countries it also exists, but I think I am lucky because Bitcoin can be freely used in my place.

It is a nice idea but if the other person knows Bitcoin also because if they don't you need to teach, they might also have a hard time figuring out how Bitcoin work. also it is not advisable for children, it is still better to give children the traditional way giving them a dollars for every kid that you know you are their godparent. I already cashout some Bitcoin to give to all my godchildren.

Not a bad idea since they would be also digging it after it has gained some value or they realize that it can be traded with fiat and can also use to buy whatever the hell they want to. And it's like a geek's way of giving money for Christmas, too! They will appreciate the effort plus the value of the coin would also appreciate over time. $50 wouldn't hurt, just place it on a paper wallet and you're good to go!

Giving the gift of a hardware wallet with some coin on it would be a fantastic way to introduce someone to bitcoin it is also a very thoughtful gift!
I have given out some paper wallets in Xmas cards this year to a few select friends that are starting to become interested in bitcoin.

I popped $100 on each wallet and have given them full instructions on how to redeem the coins.

It will be a better way for New Year gift. On December 10, 2017, Chicago Exchange Cboe Global Markets for the first time in history began trading in futures. Through a broker, you can now buy a contract with a deadline until March 2018. The obvious disadvantages are the complexity of the purchase and the high cost, since one bitcoin is the unit of the contract.

Lol giving bitcoin as a gift is a welcome idea cos the person you're giving might not even know the worth in the next 1 year. So he'd be shocked when he gets to know the value a year on. You should tell the person to hodl for long to be able to suck the juice

Yes bitcoin is a perfect give this Christmas, yet, everything is I believe. Some higher rank members here done some bitcoin giveaways not too long ago, which I considered as a gift in a form of bitcoin. But I also believe, at Christmas, value doesn't matter most, but goodness is.

Bitcoin as a gift will certainly seem strange, if the people we love still do not know what Bitcoin is,
for now I only give physical things such as shoes and clothes to the people I love as a gift Christmas

Merry Christmas

That is absolutely a perfect idea if you want your christmas a merrier one. You cant help but just be thankful right? You would be the luckiest if you receive bitcoin as a christmas gift from someone. You can invest it or wait until it goes high so when you sell you would get higher earnings right then. It is very unusual if someone would give you bitcoin. Because you can use bitcoin anywhere. It is somewhat like receiving amount of money and when you sell it, you would get higher amount.

Because of bitcoins popularity and its market value, i agree that bitcoin would be really interesting and good present for Christmas. Giving bitcoin as a gift to someone, is similar as giving gold as an gift. It would be really original and valuable present, because if that person decide to hold them for a bit longer they could get even more expensive present. :P

Bitcoin is definitely going to make anyone happy if given as a gift. But, if you're planning to send one only now, your receiver might need to wait until new year's day.  ;D

I will not give nor receive bitcoin as a gift for Christmas. The reason is very simple, there are people near me who are using bitcoin so there is no sense to give them any and I can't expect to get some.
But this would be excellent gift for me and I would be very happy about it. Bitcoin is simple gift but very effective and has great value, it's universal gift for everyone.

Well to give someone bitcoin as a gift for Christmas is very smart, but you need to know what type of person he/she is. He might like a physical gift like a teddy bear or a jewellery. But definitely gifting bitcoins instead of fiat currency to someone is way better choice.

Title: Re: Bitcoin as a Christmas gift
Post by: hatshepsut93 on December 23, 2017, 12:17:52 PM
After the long bull run, the possibility of bear market is growing, so now might be not the best time to gift bitcoins. Sure, they can increase 2 or 3 times in the next years, but it may also go down, and people would not be happy to see their gift dropping in value.

Transaction fees are also making it harder to gift Bitcoin, especially smaller sums like $50 or less. You could gift them some altcoin, but they are much more volatile and risky.

So, I don't think that Bitcoin is a good gift today, especially for people who are not yet introduced to it.

It is a good idea if you give it to a person that know about bitcoin. And he/she know what will he/she do to his bitcoin. But if youg gift it to a person who know nothing about bitcoin. Its a disaster. Because he don't know what will he do to his bitcoin. You need to teach him step by step.

Its really cool idea that you have brought up here. However I'm not getting attached to bitcoin upto this level this Christmas. I'm managing my investment with some idea's for the year 2018. SO I'm saving up some BTC.

But, at the same time I'm gonna cash out my X % of BTC into the bank so that I can spend it for my family. So on the one way around I'm using BTC as the medium to buy gifts for my loved one. Im pretty sure this time I'm having more money with me and I can do the grand celebration of the Christmas at my house for family and friends. Good luck for the best ideas though. :)

For now bitcoin value are not yet fully recovered their price, but still it was growing up little by little. I guess before end of 2017 bitcoin value will touch and stayed to $20,000 I hope that this price will become fixed. Because it was a good starting point of bitcoin value in the 2018.

this question is very little funny, ok my suggestion to give christmas gift might be send bitcoin to the recipient, but not in physical form maybe recipient must have account blockchain or other wallet but may be in physical form maybe receiver must have legder wallet but my advice is a real gift and you have to exchange bitcoin into money and give a very special gift
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Who would be against such a present!
Yet the thing is that people don't give such huge gifts to others, you know. In my country the usual sum of money spent on a birthday/Christmas present is $10. A really cool present for close friends might cost $20. Now, bitcoin transaction costs like a good present and sometimes even more than that, so I guess for now it's better to give money presents in fiat or in normal currencies with a reasonable fee.
at Christmas, value doesn't matter most, but goodness is.
Yes, this is a religious holiday, so people should care about the money as much as they usually do on this day.

The best way to give a gift would be a physical bitcoin. Something shiny and unique, so that the recipient treasures it. Paper wallets are good too, but I have heard a lot of stories about people who lost their paper wallet, after being gifted it in the early days of Bitcoin.

To give someone bitcoins must pay a transaction which is now about $ 75. Then the person you make the gift too has to pay the same amount to spend your gift. My question is what amount you need to give people to justify the cost of $ 150 per transaction? I think this is a crazy idea. Bitcoin ceases to be tender.

Bitcoin is really a perfect gift for this coming Christmas day since everyone of us wants to receive this bitcoin that has a huge amount when you convert it to fiat. If you convert it then you are now ready to buy for your niche Buena for this coming Christmas.

Definitely, an uncommon gift which will better suit your tech-savvy friends who are dealing with trading with btc and such. Since the Price is increasing at a high rate it's a very thoughtful and useful gift, Rather than only a wallet a btc along with it is a much better gift.

Most people are not ready for Bitcoin yet. I know a lto of people that sent their loved ones amounts of Bitcoin a year ago or so, when it was worth $200 per BTC. They didn't save it, because they didn't pay much attention to it. Now it's worth x100 times more and they hate themselves for not paying more attention and learning how to get things done.

If anything, it's a good learning lesson if they lose their money. It looks like people only pay attention to Bitcoin when it's on the news for a while, then it goes underground again until the next bull run.

I think this is a nice idea because gifting an investment is really the best choice where the receiver can benefit and his or her gift value can still appreciate over time he/she just only need to do is to understand the amazing yet simple technology of the blockchain so the gift can be used or hold to appraise its value over the time he/she wants to.. this can be done in the future by the stores and trading platforms..

Holidays this time will relax and spend time with family and friends. But the second time you ask yourself the question of what to give. The spirit of the service or the washing machine is already somewhat banal. Bitcoin as a gift is an excellent gift. The person who receives it has a chance to increase its capital. If you do not like the gift, you can buy everything you like about Bitcoin.

I think you can help that person who want to gift bitcoin and create wallet for them. You can try invest in other altcoins / bitcoin, so you have 2 or more altcoins. It's great idea you can gift altcoins to people you love. If you can give altcoins, they can feel benefit investment from altcoins. If they get the benefit, they can try do invest.

Bitcoin as a Christmas gift would be so pretty special for me. It would be a good gift specially now that the price of Bitcoin is getting higher. How I wish someone could give me atleast 1 BTC.

One of the reason I see why Bitcoin value dropped dramatically is that majority of its holders dumped them. Either they use it as remittances or as a gift instead of cash. Most of us didn't like what is happening right now. But, we're almost getting to the point where Bitcoin should be. And that is being an alternative currency that counterpart the use of physical cash, gift card and debit / credit cards. However, it might get its value even lower than expected once we get into that. This might erase its current status as a digital commodity or asset that currently serve as a passive type of investment.

And also here we can expect mucht hat if we will use it at such a practical life level then surely it will increase the demand and popularity of btc and we will be able to make big profit to have btc in our wallet ( make profit without doing hard work ) .
So here we have here as an option to make bitcoin much famouse and more profit day by day .

Those who know bitcoin only knows about this kind of gratitude and the average people also thinks only money other than anything else. People use this kind of event on having money as a gift on christmas but thats no really it. Christmas is about giving anything.

Bitcoin can be a useful coin, however, I think it is not a good Christmas gift. In fact, it still has many shortcomings, it is not suitable to be considered a real gift.

In essence, make a gift at Christmas as a form of generosity, not as a show-off. Simply by buying a gift that suits the ability and sincerity of the heart, it is more than enough.

Receiving Bitcoin as a Christmas gift would be great I think. It will allow you to do things with it that can make you truly happy. With the flexibility of Bitcoin, you can hold it to allow it to grow over time; it can be like an investment on your part. You can also choose to spend this Bitcoin the way you want, you can purchase things or even use it to gamble. With Bitcoin as a gift, you have so much options to use it that Christmas can be truly merry with it. Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas! May you have more Bitcoins!

Bitcoin is not a stupid gift. For me it is the best gift ever. It is more than a real money. You dont need to worry anything because of bitcoin. Bitcoin can secure future lives and help you through everything in life. Help you to your financial problem and through bitcoin you can purchase something you really need and wanted in here. Bitcoin is not stupid ever. As we can see because of bitcoin many people already change their lives and it is really good for us too.

I think it is a unique thing to do. In my country there is an exchange that features voucher, with voucher we can give gift easily. even the service can make us directly convert to local currency. Maybe in some countries it also exists, but I think I am lucky because Bitcoin can be freely used in my place.

Christmass gift from someone that i loved so much. I give it to my mom. Becuase i love her so much. I give all for her, and my family this Christmass is the best Christmass ever i've celebrate. Thanks to God to his Glory and to his loving so much.

Great decision. And yes. Before gifting someone with bitcoin, the giver should make sure first if the person being gifted is really capable enough and knows how to store, use, and convert it to fiat amd other crypto currencies also if needed.

If it were me, i would definitely be using it to trade and as an investment capital and not just let it stand by in my offline wallet doing nothing and growing slowly without effort. I want the thrill and the feeling i get when hard work pays of.

Yes bitcoin seems to be perfect gift and I have already created few paper wallets wrapped in the greeting cards. I had no other choice but to gift BTC (satoshi's more or less). My already knows about the bitcoin and I think this will surprise them a lot. As I know nobody in my family have thought of it yet. ;-)

I had thought of giving hardware wallet to my wife though but she already knew my plans and asked me for bitcoin debit card. Well that's even better and worth giving it and if she has wished it then it's her happiness and mine as well.

So yeah, pretty much same as you have planned. So I hope everyone will be happy today. Merry Christmas to all

Giving bitcoin as a christmas gift is not usual. The beauty of christmas is in the wrapped up gifts that kids open in the morning. Sending bitcoin can be a giod gift if you have a friend or a family member that lives far away and can't make it to the family house. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a pleasent surprise. Besides, bitcoin transactions is this period are too expensive. The fees are really high and it will remain that way until christmas holiday is over.

As of now, it really looks like a wonderful gift because of how valuable it is and how popular it is.
Gifting someone with bitcoins can really be a good idea this season.
You don't necessarily need to think of one or multiple bitcoin, all thanks to satoshis.
You can always break one bitcoin into multiple satoshis and can use for gifting.

Because of how useful bitcoin is and perfectly attractive it is, it would make a fabulous gift for anybody.
It would not just stay as a use and keep kind of gift or use and forget kind of gift. It will automatically turn into an investment for the receiver of the gift.

If I wanted to give a coin, I would do it for a person who understands the cryptoworld.
It will be good because if a person is aware of bitcoin he will use bitcoin for good and he will be patient enough to have bitcoin profit. Now bitcoin is getting high in price then it is responsibility and yes he will use it right way, I think if someone will give me bitcoin as a gift I will hold my bitcoin for long time and will not sell my bitcoin for long time and wait to save and secure my future with a single gifted bitcoin.

Gift giving in christmas days is traditional.  But its up to you what you gift in christmas day.  Important is it came from the heart. Bitcoin is the one unique gifts I know to give in christmas day.

If you have a lot of bitcoins then it is a good gift to give to the people that you loved and spread some good vibes using bitcoin as a gift. Bitcoin is a very great investment or asset and giving them away to the people that you want to give a gift will gave them chances to not miss the train of this beautiful journey for becoming a millionaire.

In my country, all bitcoin payments are illegal. So I do not watch bitcoin as a gift. But I think this is a pretty good idea.

Bitcoin as a gift will certainly seem strange, if the people we love still do not know what Bitcoin is,
for now I only give physical things such as shoes and clothes to the people I love as a gift Christmas

Merry Christmas
The value of bitcoin is so high right now, maybe only a special person can give and receive a gift from bitcoin, because bitcoin is a very special Christmas present and that person must be very surprised when receiving it.

I'd actually say that Bitcoin is a pretty shitty gift in terms of Christmas. When you think of Christmas, you should be thinking of very well thought out gifts; something that actually appeals to the person for sure. If someone just gives you cash as a gift, it makes it seem as if they did not put much thought into it.

Bitcoin is cool as an asset and a currency, but it's not really a good gift. It's too volatile, you introduce people into this new world that they may know practically nothing about, and they could add to the long list of FUD'ers and fake investors.

I have known only few people yet that is interested in Bitcoins. But it sure is there are a lot of people who are now familiar with it and questions whether they should invest or not. With that I don't think my friends or family would want Bitcoins as a Christmas gift as of now. But in the future maybe they will. But as for me, I would really appreciate anyone who will give me Bitcoin as a Christmas gift. I would prefer it than to received gift cards or cash as gifts.

So it is my point of view:
Every coin nowadays is breaking its price again and again. Also multiple purposes...

Disadvantages: BTC transactions are very expensive, and if you want to make/give little gift you will loose/waste a lot of money for sending....

But for someone how don't know crypto it will be the best opportunity cause he would only heared abut BTC before...

So as always advantages and disadvanteges... It is not easy way.

Not possible bitcoin Wallet transfer fees is too high its not possible if i want to send 100$ usd i need to spend extra 20 usd to complete the transfer. its better if i send via bank transfer at lesser cost.

That would be a great idea. Just remember to do research of places where they accept bitcoin and be sure to educate the ones whom you will give the gift about bitcoin.
True that not all people use to think like this because now relation are not more important than money but still a lot of people are here who use to think at their relation at first then for money, giving something special to our love ones will show them that how much we love them and how much we care for them so if any one who will gift me bitcoin at this Christmas I will surely be very grateful and I will save it for long time as a memory and as saving too.

However, if it is for a person who is not knowledgeable of the bitcoin market and virtually ignorant of how it works, then even if it is per se a very valuable asset and a great gift because it can keep on giving, it wouldn't hold water because to them it's just another data or a collection of encrypted codes that they don't have any use for. It's a great and unique gift, though, like the above-stated reply mentioned.

While it seems to you that giving Bitcoin is very strange, it is, in fact, an excellent Christmas present.
5 reasons to present to your family at Christmas Bitcoins:
1-The price of a gift can only increase over time 2-Gift informs about a new technology
3-They will appreciate the time you spent with them explaining how Bitcoin works
4-Your gift will definitely stand out among the rest
5-If you do not like it, they can use bitcoin to buy everything they want

I assume most would be giving a fraction of a fraction of a Bitcoin, due to how high it is. That would be awkward to give somebody who's only heard the term. They might think it's a weird gift, literally pay it no attention, even if you told them it was worth something. Just to buy something they would need to spend a long time studying it.

It's technically one of those gifts that you give a person because it's something that you like so much, but that the other person just doesn't care about.

I'm trying to think of an example. It's like you love collecting plastic forks, and decided to gift that as if the person is going to care about such a thing. Of course I would love to get Bitcoins, it might be an annoyance to the person.

With the current price rate of Bitcoin, I don’t think anyone would be able to do that, except for Santa, lol. But as you said, it’s always good to give people a gift they can remember always, than to give them something they won’t remember much easily. I will happily accept bitcoin as a Christmas gift but unfortunately I will never receive this gift because I am not Christian and I don’t celebrate Christmas. But I am sure that every Christian will welcome this gift if someone will give him bitcoin in gift. It will be a precious gift he will receive and he will celebrate his Christmas party with double enjoyment. A Christmas and a bitcoin gift. Those who know the value of bitcoin will never give it as a gift to anyone.

Definitely a unique gift and one I would love to receive. Would give some as gifts to my family members but unfortunately most of them have a negative outlook on Bitcoin.

If there would be the very best and the most unique gift that somebody could get.But honestly, the price of bitcoin transaction is too high so rather buy some personalized gifts to give rather than give bitcoins.

Well as a Christmas gift I would rather give other gifts than giving bitcoin as a gift. It is better beceaise they can keep the gift as a remembrance. People are keeping their bitcoin, so I bet most people would not give away their bitcoin.
Even if someone is giving bitcoin as Christmas gift, such a person must really understand what bitcoin is all about first and not just be someone who would end up not even appreciating the value of what you have given to them and why they may need to hold it.

For someone who would appreciate it though, I do not see any reason why I would not do that. After all, even though in my wallet and my wife knows what bitcoin is as I have hinted her already, I gave her few bitcoins as a Christmas gift and man, it was like I gave her the whole world.

Bitcoin as a Christmas gift would be a unique way of gifting since people are used to receive fiat or material things. It would be a good way of introducing to others what bitcoin is for those who don't have an idea about it and for those who already knew, I am pretty sure they would be more than happy to receive it knowing how much it is worth. There are parents and god-parents who are considering gifting bitcoin or other coin perhaps to their loved ones because they knew that it would be have much more worth in the future. I would be glad too to receive bitcoin as a gift.

It sounds interesting actually, it was like a high-tech angpao today.

Unlike traditional way of giving money as a gift were we probably used angpao to serve as a pocket today we can send Bitcoin to our love ones instantly through different apps such as Coins.ph and many more. It makes our life more convenient!

Not a bad idea, I will love to have 1 Bitcoin as a Christmas gift that will be my best Christmas ever. And to give someone Bitcoin as a Christmas gift I think the would never forget such.
No one is going to refuse such an amazing gift on Christmas and I am pretty much sure only your partner can gift you such precious thing otherwise no one from your family is going to dare gift you such expensive thing. You should never ever lose that person in your life who can gift you one bitcoin because he or she is really sincere with you. I hope so I may also get such an amazing gift tomorrow.

Yes bitcoin is a perfect gift for your love ones, even if its money, bitcoin as gift is so the best gift ever! Happy new year!
I can imagine anyone giving me bitcoin now, no matter how small actually knows that it is something that may apparently be worth something pretty huge later in the future. Although, it is something that I believe that it would take someone who really know some few things about bitcoin to realize the worth but at least, it is a way to even tell some people a lot about bitcoin and maybe in the long run, they will get to keep understanding and be happy you really did.

But honestly some people would appreciate fiat more than bitcoin because they have no understanding of what you are giving to them and no matter how much you try to explain to them, they would really not still get it anyway.

Nevertheless, for someone like me, I would not really mind bitcoin as a gift, no matter the occasion as it does not have to be Christmas. Christmas have passed anyway.

I think it is a unique thing to do. In my country there is an exchange that features voucher, with voucher we can give gift easily. even the service can make us directly convert to local currency. Maybe in some countries it also exists, but I think I am lucky because Bitcoin can be freely used in my place.

I agree. But, if it is for me, I would wholeheartedly accept it because I know how I can use it to my advantage.
That is true but i still would accept if they gave me bitcoin as a gift it is an investment they are giving you that means you mean a lot to them but there are indeed also possibilities that they do not know anything about it and gave me it i would keep it because i know what to do with it.

Bitcoin is a very great gift for someone in this Christmas. It is a blessing and a very big help to someone who can receive it. But me as a person who already have bitcoin, I will not give bitcoin to someone right now. Why? My bitcoin is still not for me and besides I still have no 1 bitcoin. Maybe if i already have many bitcoin I will not hesistate to make this a gift for someone I love like my mother. She will be very happy of that happen.
I do not see anyone who make bitcoin a gift but it is a nice idea. The only problem is, what if the person you want to give bitcoin do not have any crypto wallet or have no idea what bitcoin is ?
Yah definitely Bitcoin can be a great gift for anyone, for example for our loved ones or our family members especially for our mother. It will make them so happy. But for my Bitcoin I am little bit possessive or you can say me greedy, because me have only one Bitcoin and I think it is only mine can’t give this to anyone. But on Christmas it is a good idea to give your Bitcoin as a gift but if you have many Bitcoin then it can be possible. Otherwise u can celebrate Christmas with your Bitcoin and stay be happy and wealthy in your life.

Because in bitcoin its high-price is breaking again and again and by bitcoin you can buy what you want if the price goes up.

This is a very good idea. Bitcoin is perfect for Christmas gifts. People who understand Bitcoin must be very happy if given a Bitcoin prize. Bitcoin as Christmas gift is the best than any other gifts to the people who have the good understanding about cryptocurrency as well about its future growth. The present situation is the best days for blockchain development, because each and everything is getting dependence over blockchain in one or the other way for effective functioning.
