Title: Having fun with crypto.
Post by: cryptonexii on January 05, 2018, 10:49:53 PM
Coin has been launched properly

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2813560.0;topicseen (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2813560.0;topicseen)

I actually ended up creating a useful coin (at least in my opinion) - MURFCOIN should provide some value to the world and rescue animals everywhere!

Thanks to everyone to tested and mined on the v0.8 network - you should now switch to the new client.

Nice! I've actually forked litecoin 0.8 last night, and am well on my way to creating a useless coin!

Let me know when you've done yours :-)

Hey folks,

Long time listener, first time caller.

Just started compiling litecoin, but I've been into crypto since 2013 and I'm an engineer so this is pretty fun.

My master plan is to release my own coin.

Going for a true sh1tcoin with a $500 market cap! to the moon!!!!!!!

Seriously though, its pathetically easy to 'clone' a coin, ... that's why there is +2,000 shit-coins on the internet, and probably more, that don't get marketed, and hyped

Try to make it new and interesting, try to solve some of the problems of BTC ( there are 100's of reasons btc sucks ), if you can make it better, then it's not a shit-coin, ...

For  the past six years, I look at my first clone, and the only useful thing is that doing it is a great way to learn the bitcoin source, but honestly, and i think that HACKING-BITCOIN is a way better way to learn BTC, as in hacking you must really understand stuff, while 'cloning' is really just an exercise in cut&paste.

Also there are some real nice coins like BITCoIN-Z that lay dormant on this FORUM, that are actually pretty nice, well in that case other than the cap being 21 BILLION,rather than 21 million, but for its 'tech' its much better than bitcoin-gold.

Make a list of all the things that suck about BITCOIN, and try to find ways for your shit-coin to resolve the issues, the world will be on your doorstep.

...

Sometimes its NOT good to be TOO early, sometimes its better to be just right, we're at bitcoin 1.0, 2.0 is an unknown, and 3.0 will probably when it hits critical mass, we're still very early, I suspect that  by 2.0+ much of our 'open-source' will have gone away, because this stuff is too valuable to give away for free, thus IMHO if I had '3.0' today, I would wait until the right time, so that you don't have to give it away, just for  another guy to steal and market it, ...

It sucks and I'm not advocating, but this is the TREND, there was no such thing as 'free software' prior to 1999, and we're almost at 19 years, and NOTHING lasts forever.

Open source is a good thing, because bugs are corrected faster as there are more eyes searching for them. Also it is easier to make an improved "bitcoin" when the source code is available.

There has always been free software. The concept of selling software is much much newer.

A better approach imho is to contribute to an existing coin. The use cases to which you are exposed are incomparable to what you could do by yourself.
How to do that? Simple. Choose a project in which you believe, contact the team, ask them how could you help them and start working in as much time as you have.

Actually I, too, think it's much smarter to work on solving some of the problems of BTC. First of all, your coin will be connected to the . well-known brandname of BTC, and second - it will be useful. So way much more possibilities here.  ;)

If you don't have a good idea i think it's more than useless to create a coin. People will destroy the market if too many shit coins are created. Please let the market be good and don't create useless coins. If you want to win a lot of money you have to work, in crypto if you work you can win so....

Market is not a small child, you don't need to make decisions for it :) It will decide on it's own. Useless coins will die on their own accord.

done several startups (not in crypto).
I must admit you learn a lot from your own projects even if you fail, but the idea is to pour your hours (time it's the most expensive currency) into existing projects. To launch an altcoin is not only a technical matter, it's also a marketing and pr matter, which from a techy guy perspective is just a totally different food.
Most of the altcoins are bitcoin forks at 2014 level, so there are a lot of teams working at somehow BTC code in need of help, exposing you to complex and real matters.
I already sound like I have an altcoin project looking for developers but I'm not :)!

Hey guys,

Thanks for the advice.

If I create a coin, it will be to initially learn crypto not to make any money.

It won’t be marketed, but I would like to have folks who mine it whatever because if like to learn the process.

It would be a fun coin connected to some fun goofy thing I like. Nobody in their right mind would put this on an exchange or put more than one dollar at it. You’ll see, I’ve adjusted the mining parameters already and tested it out, it will likely be fully mined in 14 years, and I have a reason for that.

In terms of fixing BTC, I’ve read most of the litecoin code at this point (been up for like 20 hours a day, I’m really into getting to understanding the code base).

I can currently build/debug, and I’ve adjusted the majority of crypto parameters and I understand them.

I’ve been a professional software engineer for almost 20 years so its not bad at all. I also work in big data and data security but my block chain crypto is still in learning phase (it’s getting better), so I will think about working on other coins once I’ve built and run my own. My docker, networking and AWS is solid so I can run the services (I think).

Anyway - we will see.

What kind of features would an interesting new coin have that Bitcoin does not? And what kind of mining difficulty parameters? My first coin may not have these but maybe my second (if I get that far :-))

Also, premine?

I was actually thinking of creating my own coin simply for the learning process as well. This is one of those things that can really help you evaluate how other projects are being run, not a terrible idea really ^

I'm also try to create ETH based coin for educational purpose. ;)

These existing coins have a different and unique characteristics in which if you could take any of their attribute and put it in a single coin i'm sure everyone would be interested in it. But it will take years to discover them all i guess, since Bitcoin itself has a lot of problems that needed to be solved. I wanted to create one too for educational purposes but i guess i can't make it anymore due to my life priorities. I will just gonna wait for the right person to do it for me someday.

It is going to be a very long journey. But you know, if you want to achieve something, you should follow these following statements; Positiveness, Determination, and Willpower. With these, you will be able realize whatever you aspire, believe me. A good anime taught me those words.

But anyways, I want to know how to start your own cryptocurrency. Does it require so much knowledge? Mining perhaps? Please, note that I am still a beginner when it comes to cryptocurrency. But I understand it overall.

Alright.

How would you feel about....

Algo: Script (Litecoin)
Total Coins : 23,000,000
Rewards : 50 Coins per Block, halving every 5.2 Months or every 230,000 blocks
Blocks every 60 seconds
Coin total mining lifetime, approx 14 years (this is the only thing I want to keep static, must be 14 years).

If your starting out play about with some of the low end coins if your new to trading that way your can learn and keep any losses to a minimum.

I have seen far to many newcomers jump into trading only to be trapped by there own moves and lose it all.

It's a joke. However, a "good vision" is subjective. I already added DGW to my coin, aswell as tweaking the difficulty, block height and "end of life" for mining.

Also I did say $500 market cap. not 500MM :-) This is for fun.

Nice! I've actually forked litecoin 0.8 last night, and am well on my way to creating a useless coin!

Let me know when you've done yours :-)

This is one of the reason why a lot of calamity and several cases of shit coins abound in the crypo world and its because of people like you who create coins not because of anything or to solve any problem neither with any vision or purpose but simply to have a name attached to it.  Even when we have argued against the solution to every bitcoin problem as a forked but we admit that there are problems but now forking LiteCoin, which does not even have any issue to the best of my knowledge or reached the capacity where it gets known to compete ( maybe to you alone) this is coming.

I guess you are envisaging that because the forked coins of bitcoin is already saturated that people have lost count, its better you start with LiteCoin in other to be part of the next millionaire from $500 market cap to a multi millionaire at some point. Congrats on adding to dragging the industry backward.

It's easier to get into new technology on the go than reading books and examples. And x-times faster in a community.
I would offer to unite the powers and create some open-source project. It will be a good learning experience. Just need to find the common goal to construct the base level. Anyone then can fork this for its own play. Feel free to join the community https://trello.com/b/oJbbFvSQ/dive-into-blockchain

Yes having fun, not crazy or stupid enough to think this is the time any of us here could offer something
new that we could take to market just now but if you have something that is not just another tweaked version of the
Bitcoin core (That would never scale and they knew it) then I might offer to run a node for you.

Some degree of centralization is fine with me (Coordinators) but lets have something better than IOTA at
100 TPS that puts Bitcoin to shame by a factor of 12:1

I tend to like Block-Matrix but I am sure some "free thinkers" here could come up with something better.

Mining is the biggest mess after PoW ever invented by a programmer and a single laptop computer can handle
more than 250 bytes times 7 transactions a second so lets face it the starting blocks are not too high

Quote
PEG-TOKEN

Seems to be a type of token you can spend to pay for developers to write smart contracts for you that runs on ETH
network which is really just a smart name for a bean counter that writes values to a public block-chain and charges
you gas for the privilege that's convertible and paid for in ETH

Sorry but with five new ICO's a day I cannot read too many white papers end to end but i am sure that I could
write a public dispersed ledger that would scale to record bean values that can be independent from the currency-token
or "Smart Contracts" and offer some public independent accountability to anyone doing a ICO

For "Gas" I (Sorry us miners) would be happy to accept BTC, ETH, Ripple instead of coming up with yet a new coin and
your system could even settle up payment for the account at the end of the month instead of doing Pay-and-Go and
eating up bandwidth.

ETH is not offering much more and we know from Crypto-Kitties that it won't scale so maybe decoupling the currency
from the host provider (Decentralized array of nodes) hosting the public ledger is not so crazy and then if it won't scale
or charges too much in gas then the currency could simply move provider but the genesis block would then have to become
a balance sheet as such.

By the way smart contracts can host Easter eggs that work fine for a year, all on the block-chain and then send me all
your credits or deducts you 0.1% when year 2019 arrives and adds 0.1% to my bean count so are "Smart Contracts" open
source too once deployed because if not, well they are open to abuse so maybe someone best think about putting check-points in so any
alt-coin turning bad could be restored to a previous state. (Won't work in mixed coin block-chain like ETH)

Come on guys tell me someone has already thought about this will you now!

MurfCoin launch
==========
MurfCoin will go live shortly. Seed nodes are up and we're working on a blockchain explorer.

Premise of the coin:

It's a litecoin fork and is intended to be fun. 23,000,000 coins, DGW retargeting, with about 0.3% pre-mine. Blocks every 60 seconds. Coin mining lifetime is 14 years. The same as the average lifetime of a Bichon Frise. Coin ticker will be FLUFF, because that's what Bichon Frise's are all about.

I have ideas for original features to integrate into the coin, and as I learn, and based on feedback, they can hopefully be added.

I have put a stop loss on my BTC and will sell if price drops below $10,000 because I will be as
loyal to BTC as the miner are too us by putting the fees up from $0.10 to $30+ and i suggest that
you do the same.

Other fish in the sea to catch but if it's fun you seek then imagine the fun of selling at $10k with fees
at $30 and then buying back in at $5k and fees back to $1 and then asking the miners if they are still
so cock sure of themselves

This is how many succesful people build their CV. Everyone can see that Blockchain technologies are a thing for the future and more and more people are asking for developers with Blockchain experience. <Lately a lot of ICO's too>

I would like to see a Alt coin, where miners compete to offer the lowest fee for their customers. The guy with the lowest fee, gets to mine the Block. <If he adheres to the minimum hashing requirements to mine that Block or Blocks>

Hey folks. I will be launching MurfyCoin today. It seems that folks are already mining it through searching for the coin name I posted yesterday.

The coin is 0.3% mined, several nodes have come online, but they are not hashing hard, its likely just folks from this thread with their own PC's.

I'm just fixing the Mac Wallet build right now and we'll be good to go.

I can't launch this on ANN as I don't have the rep, so I'll just launch it here.

Introducing MurfCoin!

https://imgur.com/PGS6rmL

The first coin inspired by a Bichon Frise.

Disclaimer: I do realize this coin does not yet add value (and may not ever) to the cryptocurrency eco-system. Please read back through the thread. I spent a lot of time learning about blockchain to put this together, and didn't use a 'coin generator'. It is a fork of early Litecoin.

Should a FLUFF/BTC exchange actually happen, The FLUFF rescue fund will go to at least one of the smaller organizations that I've been researching that could take BTC. I'll announce on twitter and make sure its obvious that the donation has actually happened if I get that far. I do realize there is a lot of trust involved in that part.

100% of my personal pre-mine on my CPU has been transferred to the FLUFF fund already, which is roughly half of all FLUFF currently in existence. The rest of the FLUFF is distributed in production test wallets, and folks who helped me launch it, and its a small amount (around 50k FLUFF) mined over a few days on CPU's.

I'd like to modify the client so that 10% of mined FLUFF is reserved to a separate address in your client which you then be transferred for a donation easily (if you choose).

About Murfy

Murfy (https://imgur.com/a/ZmKWF)is a rescue that we rescued in Rhode Island in 2010 from Mutts4Rescue (https://www.facebook.com/Mutts4Rescue-71851299332/). He had been mistreated and was scared of everyone. The rescue foundation asked us if we wanted to keep him, because as they drove him to meet us, she noticed that he was partially blind and had cataracts. We decided he really needed a home, and got him the surgery to help with his eyesight. He is doing awesome now, but is still scared of everyone and so I created this coin for him.

In honor of Murfy, the coin has a mining lifetime of about 14 years, the same life-span as a Bichon Frise. It should be fully mined by 2031.

Because he's a big ball of fluffy, the ticker is FLUFF.

Starting with Litecoin codebase, it should be easy to get the block time down to 1 minute which would be 70% faster than Litecoin. You can then call your coin Litecoin Plus, and market it as Litecoin but faster. This should easily displace LTC from its top 5 position on the CMC list.

Good Luck.

Actually Litecoin block time is around 2.5 minutes now: https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-blocktime-of-Litecoin (https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-blocktime-of-Litecoin). 1 minute would be considerably faster, though just decreasing block times without updating the consensus would cause tons of other problems. Just an idea...

Creating a your own coin should be the ultimate goal.

Hey folks,

Long time listener, first time caller.

Just started compiling litecoin, but I've been into crypto since 2013 and I'm an engineer so this is pretty fun.

My master plan is to release my own coin.

Going for a true sh1tcoin with a $500 market cap! to the moon!!!!!!!

hahahah, go for it. I am sure you can create a coin with a 500$ market cap, maybe someone pumps it for fun :P

Nice! I've actually forked litecoin 0.8 last night, and am well on my way to creating a useless coin!

Let me know when you've done yours :-)

Why 0.8 and not the latest version v0.15.0.1rc1?

So, initially this was for fun, but it does have a "dog rescue" purpose now, so we hope it will take off somewhat.

It is very easy. I saw it in ether. Everyone can create his token with smart contacts. Even with his own name and ticker.

Having Fun if BTC price increasing.
Enjoy it, and save it until 2020.
If it has reached the highest price then move your assets to the real business. I'm afraid of bubble bubbles.
just a suggestion.

Bubble? with all the Millions of Bitcoins owned by early Adopters and all the lost Bitcoins?

Real business? Define "Real business"?  Or you mean Physical businesses?

Before you start to "release" your own coin, make sure you can answer the common answer that the community oftenly ask:
- What's makes your coin could be better.
- How much rate/price that your coin offer.
- How could you convince the potential invetors to buy your coin.

An easy way of earning more coins especially when you are successful in attracting other crypto investors out here. Better served your customers with a well defined market project in which you'll make believe to them that your project has a chance out there and they'll have a good future with it if they invested on it. Well goodluck on it mate.

Not all the times on those coins who are attracting investors by means of marketing can be called scamarketing since this thing would entirely depending on its dev or team itself if they would do such thing. This is also comes to my attention about those coins being pumped up without even seeing if the coin have been marketed. Its impossible for it to pass on my own awareness on a certain coin that do exist on the market.

I agree, there is a lot of shitcoins which they pumped on the market cap and people will say, oh this is a very good crypto and we should invest in it, otherwise the true story is, that the cause of the pump is by the fund of the devils themselves, after that when the market drop, theses shitcoins will die and investors will lose a lot of money.

Is that the only reason why you are having fun because of your own benefit? We have to make cryptocurrency as a beneficial for all of us in general, it is not because we are earning from it but one reason is that the ability for the world to change not only at the present time, because of bitcoin a lot of people encourage to do their own coin but of course it does not mean that they are all worth it to invest at, so we still need to be vigilant in choosing coins.

Anyway, we cannot predict the future, so I am proud that he did his best as early as he could, cause maybe, someday people will regret again criticizing the new coin that made.

Let's just take a look and think positive always. Take the risk. That's life.

A good coin is solely created for a mission and vision not just to help and promote the social welfare and development of the world and its community but also to the promotion and helping overcome the solution of its market-related society. So yeah if we have an idea we should bring the idea on helping to overcome the recent struggles of cryptocurrency, promoting good value to the community so that our government would be at ease on supporting the cryptocurrency by doing the right thing.

To do it right, its actually a lot harder than it looks.

Once you actually have the coin compiling...

1. Setup, Maintain and Harden Multiple Seed Nodes on VPS
2. Setup, Maintain and Harden 24/7 Block Explorer on VPS
3. Setup, Maintain and Harden 24/7 Official Mining Pool on VPS
4. Fix Bugs
5. Build a TestNet to test your BugFixes
6. Build a Website
7. Fix Bugs
8. Fix Accidental Hard Fork
9. Fix Accidental Soft Fork
10. Implement actual Soft Fork
11. Fix Bugs
12. Check BitCoin Talk
13. AirDrop
Goto 1

the person who have technical and programming background could create coin. But this can gave solution for real world problem which is currently existing. If can achieve this target this coin is not a shit any more. try be unique and make the market for that.

I think bitcoin is still better among any other coin so far. But im not against in launching new coin as long as it has it capability to be a better coin someday then why not we try to support it. Since there's nothing to loose if we try to put a little invest in this coin. Nobody know maybe someday it will boom and become promising.
