What is the uniqueness in this coin? Could you tell is why we should mine this?

Yeah this is a Quark clone for sure.

Considering all this accounts past posts are single smiley faces in the Chinese section someone needs to go through this carefully.

Sounds like something someone would do if they planned to post a virus and didn't wan't people to not download due to first post.

None it's a shitclone expect a million per day of them now.  I hope these never reach exchanges not even an annoucement.  Check them all for a virus also, you can be sure a lot of these will soon be tagged with those.

It looks to me like it is, except it's not premined. And that's at least worth something.

I had a bunch of problems compiling on linux, related to leveldb. Could you take a look at it?
And when I finally got the command line version compiled, I got this error:
Code:
make: warning:  Clock skew detected.  Your build may be incomplete.

Quark wasn't premined. Mining was public from the start.

Has anyone checked this for viruses ?

also there was definitely nothing wrong on my side lol

maybe myself and the other 5 people before block 500 were just unlucky

I have mined 1 block now

Trademark infringement is not a good start to a new coin. Hope they have some affiliation

I'm all in for trying new coins and all. But the starter of the coin is not replying at all, practically has a stolen logo and barely has given us info, gives me some red flags  :-\

Exactly why I am mining it on a spare computer with a clean windows install I won't care to wipe later.

Is there a post number you must be to post in this part of the forums? It could have been him not planning ahead and doing that so he can post.

I have mined a block so it is a real coin. I suggest people use a VPS, spare computer, or spare harddrive until he get a clearer picture on this.

Could just be a stupid dev launching it.

Not going to download this, before i know more about if it cointains any viruses..

No virus at all, why do you guys always think there are so many cheaters in this forum? We are good guys who just want to create a new coin for this world.

So this cant be mined using cuda miner since that is a GPU miner? I am still kinda newb at coins.  I did manage to grab two blocks when i first opened the wallet which is nice nothing since, I dont understand solo mining yet anyone bored want to help me out with a crash course in solo mining pm me =D

There are people always wanting to scam others. It isn't a bad idea to be careful of new programs especially when some people have lots of worth in cryptocurrencies.

There is no gpu miner for RVDCoin, you can only use the client to mine at this moment.

tried on 2 vm, doesn't connect to nodes (as does every one elses) - also note every coin i've tried works ..

error in debug.log seems to be (after connecting to nodes)
socket recv error 10053

maybe i needs to open ports, just wanted to check out my new amd8350 anyway

What is the uniqueness in this coin? Could you tell is why we should mine this?
As someone already mentioned, it's a clone of quark with some new parameters.

so can't be mined in solo anymore right?
Of course you can still solo, we are working on the website and pool for RVDCoin, please give us a little time.

I can't connect either.

Have copied the .conf into appdata/rvdcoin - but nothing.

Any ideas? Thanks

The diff is over 20 now, I'm glad to see so many people are mining this coin.

I wouldn't get too excited. Everyone's here for an early pump and dump.

you can solo mine on a botnet or vps instances that will net you a few blocks

i know i can, but what about profit in solo, with this difficulty that jump so high in no time?

open the debug windows in the client, enter the following commands in the console:
addnode 1.82.228.225
addnode 216.218.197.210
addnode 182.237.2.112

Yes you are right, but it seems that people are very interested on this coin.

Give yourself a chance, and give the mining sometime, you will get what you want. In this crazy world, we all need patience.

The Diff is over 31 now.

Yes you are right, but it seems that people are very interested on this coin.

If you're referring to bitcoin, then yes.

You can connect with these nodes:
addnode=1.82.228.225
addnode=216.218.197.210
addnode=182.237.2.112

And you can try to connect to these peers:
"subver" : "/Satoshi:1.2.0/",
"inbound" : true,
"startingheight" : 348,
"banscore" : 0
},
{

tried on 2 vm, doesn't connect to nodes (as does every one elses) - also note every coin i've tried works ..

error in debug.log seems to be (after connecting to nodes)
socket recv error 10053

maybe i needs to open ports, just wanted to check out my new amd8350 anyway

We are working on the exchange for rvdcoin: http://www.rvdmarkets.com/en/

Is this coin designed for that company? That is some vital information!

Wait so is this officially affiliated with that website? If so this coin just got much more interesting.

If they aren't you might want to rename or at least not use their logo.

I can't connect either.

Have copied the .conf into appdata/rvdcoin - but nothing.

Any ideas? Thanks

open the debug windows in the client, enter the following commands in the console:
addnode 1.82.228.225
addnode 216.218.197.210
addnode 182.237.2.112

I have done so. Nothing. Besides: were these IP-addresses not already part of the conf file?

addnode 216.218.197.210 add

Did the trick for me  :)

I discoevred that, too. But adding nodes that are already part of the conf file makes no sense to me.

But then I saw the long list of additional nodes further up and with those, it started working.

Too bad, though, because now I lost 2 hours without being able to mine :-(

Oh well :-)

Can you host the code on github rather then on google drive?

No one can't connect to the nodes. Because all nodes are from China. Great China Firewall blocks our connections.

pretty sure there was some foul play here :)

probably they setup lots of VPS before it started, only allowing internal connections

i could be wrong, or maybe i'm just angry i wasted a lot of time from exact release time till now :D
only wanted to test my new cpu :(

I had no problem. I just added the nodes from the original post and it synced right up. I started mining after only the 60th block was created

also there was definitely nothing wrong on my side lol

maybe myself and the other 5 people before block 500 were just unlucky

I have mined 1 block now

My previously mining miner suddenly stopped and lost all of it's network connections. Anyone know what is going on? This happened on two different computers.

Can anyone who is connected to the network to share its peers.dat file.

Ok, after looking at http://www.rvdmarkets.com/en/ that they claim to own. They accept Visa and Mastercard to fund USD on their site.

'The «RVD Markets Limited» broker Company is registered on the British Virgin Islands in 2010 and has all necessary certificates and documents on conducting commercial activity.'

"In the Company «RVD Markets Limited» processing of payments on bank cards is carried out by the processing center PayOnline.'

If all this is true, it would allow people to buy Rvdcoin (btc too also?) with a bank card easily which would be huge.. This sites user base would explode overnight.

OP you should explain this all in better detail.

As I am new to mining, I would like to ask how long it normally takes before one finds a block?

Due to the connectivity problems earlier today I lost a good 2 hours in which the difficulty seems to have exploded. When I got my QT finally up and running, diff was 56.
My Quad Core i7 has been at it ever since for the past 2-3 hours but my balance is still 0

Is that normal?

Thanks
Matt (aka mining n00b) :-)

It's really early, so it's hard to get a good estimate.
But make sure your miner is running (CPU load, and getmininginfo), then just be patient.

We are working on the exchange for rvdcoin: http://www.rvdmarkets.com/en/

Wait so is this officially affiliated with that website? If so this coin just got much more interesting.

If they aren't you might want to rename or at least not use their logo.

Support says it is not a part of that company, they have an online chat if anyone wants to ask themselves.

So either the creator was hoping with the name they would decide to put it in an exchange or the support staff don't know about it yet.

If the company isn't the creator it doesn't mean the coin is dead though, I would suggest another name though if that is the case.

Author, can you confirm this by making a news statement on the website?

OK, I am confused now.

Issue #1: I have been mining for about 15-16 hours now on a quad core i7 and according to my wallet, I mined exactly 1 block which is a far cry of the 33 blocks macmac posted about.

But my wallet says that my balance is still 0.

Here's the transaction-#: 41ab375b540c021384d8f03e77a8a9a439ab3b5404b2fb7615513155c94a428e

In addition, I checked getmininginfo yesterday night around 10pm and just now - and according to that, only 2 blocks have been found in between:

22:15:50

getmininginfo

22:15:50

{
"blocks" : 650,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 98.46731737,
"errors" : "",
"generate" : true,
"genproclimit" : -1,
"hashespersec" : 42781,
"pooledtx" : 0,
"testnet" : false
}

09:20:08

getmininginfo

09:20:08

{
"blocks" : 652,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 98.46731737,
"errors" : "",
"generate" : true,
"genproclimit" : -1,
"hashespersec" : 32144,
"pooledtx" : 0,
"testnet" : false
}

So did I "mine" into a fork or what happened?

That sounds great and I wish it was similar here.

Since I suspected that I mined into a fork, I tried a -rescan

But that doesn't work. Now by QT can't connect to the network anymore, even though I used the addnodes from above.

This is really frustrating...

Code:
minerd -a quark -o http://your-rvdcoin-qt-ip:12132/ -u rpcusername -p rpcpassword --no-stratum --no-longpoll
Also probably you should change rvdcoin-qt / rvdcoind settings rvdcoin.conf like this:
Code:

rpcallowip=*

Pulled my 7950 and 3570k away.
Those equated to about 2% of current network speed (195000kHash/s), [(750/((350/256)*2^32/(195000*1000)/3600))/750]
I'll be back thou if the dev explains himself, which I highly doubt at the moment.

I'm guessing the whole point of associating this coin with that site was to get people to mine it. Looks like it worked.. So will this coin go anywhere being a coin that started its life with copyright infringement?

dev should stop making coins, which 80% will end in the hands of 5-10 people and the others remain with the coin scrap

new idea, make a coin that is all premined and give for free 1000 coin to 1 million people(each 1 with 1000 coins, therefore 1 billion total coins), so everyone is happy

Obviously I am not the only person who thinks the name, logo and creator of a coin doesn't matter much compared to the characteristics of the coin, or I'd have found lots of blocks already. Even a lame QRK clone is better than most scryptcoins imo.  :P

The guy appears to not even own the site he lists and he didn't sell anything for money so not sure what they could actually do about it.

Anyway if another dev took over the coin and changed the name + logo that would be best. Otherwise this is dead.

How would they pick ban criteria? You wouldn't want to accidently ban a good coin.

That is the question. I don't know the answer yet. But starting from "hello it is a fork of already existed coin with one little change" should be the start.

Then you have the issue where a coin like Quark is getting lots of hate for it being mined so fast. A version of it that is mined slower is a small change but many people would go for that.

I understand that but for example Nxt. Lots of people say Nxt is so nice concept etc but do you know that at the begining 73 people (donators) owned all 1 billion coins? So distribution is done by buying it from them for their prices. And is it fair this time?

I hate the whole idea behind NXT. But apparently 73 members of the community didn't and I am sure they have sold many of the coin to even more people. While I don't like the idea it doesn't mean it should be banned.

Everyone's a skeptic here when dealing with alt coins for good reason but let's please not post speculation. That's not fair for anyone. If someone has factual information that's great but speculating with pessimism is only damaging and until there's some solid information that points undoubtedly one way or another you should keep it out of public threads.

I think that should go for the optimists as well. Keeping to the facts helps the community make informed decisions about how involved to get in to this coin and if it's a waste of time or not.

I would tend to agree with you BUT on the other end if I was the dev I might also hold off while so much flaming is taking place and just let the product speak for itself a tad as not to have to engage in arguments and completely derail and taint my ANN thread. At least until things die down a little.

I suggest we just give things a little time to reveal themselves and remain open minded and neutral.

How many years to mine all coins?

The website requires flash. I don't get good vibes about this.

For me it just shows a godaddy buy this domain page, if you mean the website linked on the main post.

Since the company he originally claimed as the exchange he was getting started is a forex company who had no knowledge of this coins existence and the fact the creator hasn't responded to renaming or even admitted that he was pretending to be affiliated seems to be pointing to this being a coin to forget about.

this post is created before the web becouse if isn't the ppl says, "eehh this coin is premined! this is a junkcoin!", no, when i started mining, this coin was for the block 24.

now this is the info:

247000000 QRK in total
105000000 RVD in total

ratio : 1 RVD = 2.35 QRK
QRK / BTC at the moment = 0.00013618 BTC
Theoric RVD price at the moment = 0.00032002 BTC
RVD / USD at the moment = $ 0.2144
100000 RVD = $21440

All is theoric. LTC / BTC theoric ratio is 0.25, but it is 0.027 at the moment :S
Will see what happen! Let's GO RVD!

The chinese guy who created this coin, is so tard. The website sux like the hell, i emailed this guy to create one since 3 weeks, but he never respond.

The ppl who is pushing this coin to the light, are the ppl who create pools and giveaways (for the moment just me), if u want to acelerate the popularity of RVD, create giveaways! develop services for RVD, talk with exchanges to add it, create a rvdtalk, etc.

Development team, isn't doing anything to impulse the marketing to the rvd, in some months, this coin will be suspect for pre mined, but it isn't, i started solo mining at block 14, not 24/7 mining, but a lot of hours.

We need start the marketing right now, to create a great community, not after the 90% inflation like quark.

Title: Feature Request
Post by: KleinMatthias on December 27, 2013, 10:04:06 PM
Hi,

Since not all users of this coin are as active as you are, may I ask for a feature in a future wallet version?

Please implement one of the following features:
1) an autoupdate feature which automatically keeps the QT updated without the user doing anything (or with the user just clicking an "update" button which only appears when new updates are available - but where the entire update process is done automatically)
2) a notification feature where the user can enter his eMail address into the wallet and the wallet sends him an eMail when a new version is available? That requires - of course - that the wallet has a way to check for updates. But since Microsoft/Apple/Adobe/andalltheothers can do it, so can you :-)
3) (for those who don't even run their QT all the time) a notification feature where the user can enter his eMail address into the wallet and the wallet sends that eMail address plus its own version information to a central server of yours which then sends out an eMail when a new software version is available. And which sends a warning eMail when a mantatory update has to be performed.

Naturally, as of today, the Cryptocurrency-community has been very active but with the price explosion of the Bitcoin last month, more and more "normal users" will enter the market.
They will not keep their wallet running all the time.
They will not check the forum all the time.
But they might spend hard cash on buying this coin at an exchange and then send it over to their wallet. As a community, we even need that kind of passive user - and we need their money buying this coin.
And when they find ways to spend or donate the coin, they will. And for that purpose they will open their wallets - but not in between.

Having said this, I personally prefer feature (3) because it has a few advantage over the other 2:

  • It keeps even those "passive" users in the loop that do not run their wallet regularily.
  • That way, if a really important change has to be made (e.g. a new blockchain), even those users won't lose their money because they get a notification. Think of the bad publicity when "normal users" start losing their money because they simply ignored their wallets for months only to find them not working anymore because weeks before, a new blockchain or equally invasive measure was introduced without them knowing.
  • That feature can be extended for marketing purposes: add a checkmark "the makers of this coin are allowed to send me exciting news about this coin yaddayaddaya" - and voila you get yourself a free marketing database with tons of eMail addresses that you can use to keep engaging your users. Notify them of new shops where they can pay with this currency. Notify them of faucets. Notify them of exchanges that trade this coin. Notify them of the rise in value of that coin. And so on. Just keep engaging even the passive users - because to make a currency successful, you need every hand and every dollar you can get.

You guys and all the other professionals or those that have privacy concerns won't use that feature - and should never be required to do so. But the regular passive user will get that fuzzy feeling that he will be informed of important stuff without him spending much time checking bitcointalk or their wallets. And that will give him extra confidence when it comes to him spending the coin or buying the coin with his FIAT.

Just a few additional remarks:

  • Naturally, the best possible combination would be (3) with (1) where the users gets a "move your ass and update your wallet or else..." eMail (friendly version, of course) - and then he opens the wallet and clicks on the "update" button and that's it for him.
  • May be the required serverside portion (the thing that collects all version information and the eMail addresses and which also allows for sending out mass eMails to all users in that database) could be written in a generic way so that other virtual currencies can implement that feature, too?
  • May be, future wallets should have a default setting that causes them to run in the background as a service whenever the computer starts. That way, even many passive users will contribute to the P2P network without them even knowing. But that was just a sideline remark and describes a completely different feature request. But then again, while you are at it... :-)

Don't know. What do you guys think about that feature request?
Does anyone second that request?
Does anyone have a better idea how to solve the above mentioned challenges that this new species of regular, passive users will introduce in the weeks and months to come?

Thanks
Matt
RVD: RN9pjTPc6GcBduyWrdUTVYUxvCMit3vuD7

P.S. Just a full disclosure: I have posted this same feature request to the thread of some other cryptocurrencies as well.

Why dont you guys just give it up? I already proved that this guy was using RVD Markets to try to pump and dump his coin after his initial mine/premine! RVD Markets is a regulated forex broker that has nothing to do with crypto-currency. Infact I asked them if they had any interest in the field and they said no. Even though they are russian, go figure :)

There never was an exchange rvd forex markets never knew about the coin nor do they care thus the premise of the coin collapees with its name.
