a nice idea (for a bitcoin user)  :P . Still puzzled about the concept though,are we going to fight an evil "Quark" or what?

There are many playable races in MMORPG World of Scamcoins - Developer (copies a coin + premining 10 percent of coins and makes rich himself easy), Miner (just a dwarf burning electricity and GPUs), Rogue (stealing coins), Broker (spamming trollbox at BTC-E and making pumps and dumps), Mafia (selling contraband for coins), Drug grower (burning more electricity and making better earnings than a miner) and creeps (sheeps buying expensive coins, selling cheap coins). And more and more races!

damn it.  This doesn't work for me either at work!  Guess I'll have to give it a try later!  How many BTC can you win?

is that unity webplayer doing anything harmful to me?

Edit 2: ok very basic so far but i already got 100 bitcoin. I'd like to withdraw, where do I have to put my wallet ID? :P The wizard seems to be overpowered, i lost none of the battles i made so far and i fought all different classes so far.
Anyways keep us updated but maybe work a little longer on this before pulling our attention to such a prototype since one can't really do much so far.

ah yes, sorry about that it is a Browser Plugin that needs to be installed in order to play the Game. Unity is much better for Rendering 3D in the Browser and offers much more than Flash Player does right now, so that's why I went with Unity. But thanks for the feedback I'll need to do some testing on multiple PCs and Browsers to see how the WebPlayer is Loading and Make sure it's not Scaring People Off. 

Regarding Gameplay, yes currently it's very basic, and the World has not been fully created it, the World will be much bigger... and it wont be so easy to find bitcoins in the Final Version, you'll have to explore more and or hunt down enemies monsters, or other players. 

Also, there will be abit more to the Combat System where you can Use Healing Potions, and Cast Spells, so that will create a much more dynamic Combat between you and other Players, and Enemy Monsters will be Harder (current we just have some placement characer bots)... More to Come for Sure.

I wanted to Post this bit early because part of Game Development is we need Player Feedback throughout Development Process in Some cases to help make sure the Game will be something people want to even play, and also helps to build a little buzz as the Game comes together. Without some buzz and players looking forward to it, i won't really have much of a player base at all. But I see your point also...

since you already spent some time putting this game together its probably too late to ask you to swap engines into a 2d environment like hammerwatch has it? i heard that its easy to put together levels in it and custom mods are being worked on right now. I would love to see a bitcoin like version of it and it offers similar aspects as you mentioned already. Maybe you could give that a look. its not a webbrowser game though. But if you plan on adding more to the combat system i think i will also be fine with playing and trying this though i didnt like the point and click controls of the unity player too much so far.
Anyways keep it up. It's cool people find their passion to program for bitcoins and to mix those things up. Don't listen to the trolls that try to keep you down. just do your thing, it's always exciting to see new games grow.

Contests won't start until we get a much bigger World Map Created, so there will much more room to move around and explore, will be harder to find the bitcoins, improved combat system with healing and spell casting ability, enemy AI, and a global chat window to trash talk your opponents lol, or maybe team up.  So stay tuned will post the latest updates here.

The Unity web player is only supported on some platforms (Windows and MacOS). If you're running Linux (like I do) you're out of luck.
Apparently the mechanism on the coinrpg site which should detect whether the web player is installed does not work properly.

Love the game so far.

A few things though, when someone trys to register and their email is long. The space doesnt allow a certain amount of length, it gets cut off.

eg: ilovesushi@gmail.com as example.

Hi Kiki, Game Development takes time... adding features to a game is not something you complete overnight or in a week or two...

well maybe some updates can be but probably would be crappy for me to post those updates, so if you want quality, then that takes time.   ;)

thanks! I think there is another Bitcoin RPG called BitFantasy, but its in 2D old school style RPG. They allow players to buy in game items with bitcoin and also trade bitcoins in the game i think...

actually i just emailed the admins hopefully someone can move it. I was not sure if this was something people considered to be part Project Development since I think most Bitcoin Projects are not Games, so to be safe I posted here. Ah well... hopefully an Admin will respond.

It looks like a great little game in isolation. But your attitude on page 1 of the thread to some people simply asking "what has it got to do with bitcoin?" is a tad over the top. Literally the first thing I thought of was that question.

Can you turn on the HP bar?
Its hard for me to fight monsters without it.

Can you also have level indicators on ourselves and the mobs so that we know which mobs we are capable of killing.

Yes actually I do have Level indicator and health bar but I disabled it for now because the current setup was very cluttered and it got in the way of viewing the player, mob, and environment, so I will be creating a new graphic for all that which will be part if the HUD. 

also I must note, the enemies won't have a level indicator on them because Levels won't really matter in this game, it will be a matter of skill rather than level to defeat your enemies, monsters or other players. It will make more sense once I have the action bar and skills working.

Conclusion
Other than what is mentioned above, I find this game surprisingly fun and addictive to play.(I am now lv 41 with more than 400 "bitcoins" :P)

I didn't realize the skills worked with right click? lol... anyhow not fully working as I intend them to, and there will be much more flashier special effects to showcase the skills when used...  

I do plan to add keyboard binding of the skills to to number keys, gravity yes will be adjusted.

i'm glad you enjoy it, too bad you can't save your lvl and coins collected yet lol! registration will come soon as alot of the bugs and other features have been fixed or added.

this looks like huntercoin but more colorful, hope its fun.

Haven't played the game but the concept idea of a game run solely off bitcoins - items you can purchase from NPCs, gold drops from monsters, gambling opportunities etc - are all actually physically bitcoins in an ecosystem.  Money dumped into the game then is spit out the other end minus a percent like the monsters are a faucet.

Seems technically challenging to develop though.  It would probably require a monthly subscription fee to maintain solvency and cash flow into the game.

how about acquiring money from the ads and distributing the revenue with top users?

you need to increase the density of monsters, and make that the harder ones give out more coins

you could put in some equipment so we gear up our champ :D

also try to fix the bug when you log in for around the first 15 seconds you can't collect anything..

I do have plans to expand the game to iOS and Andriod once most of the game features have been completed for Browser and Desktop Platforms.

Hmm yes that would be awesome now wouldn't it lol! but I unfortunately I dont have unlimited bitcoin funds to supply thousands if not millions of players with the ability to withdraw BTC just for simply collecting them.

A while ago I thought about something similar, with an in-game currency that is represented and can be traded within Ripple.
That way, you don't have to maintain a trading platform yourself (maintaining a good game is hard enough already) but you could still use the Ripple platform to sell your in-game currency for BTC (or anything else traded there).

You do it in a way that doesn't require you to give out your own BTC.  Take a look at the MMORPG Neverwinter, and their "Zen" system.  Create a second currency in the game that is only obtainable by purchasing it from you with BTC, from other players with BTC (with you taking a small cut), or for going to advertiser \ sponsor websites to fill out surveys\sign up for services.  That currency would then be used for cool things in game that aren't actually a huge benefit in terms of power.  Maybe they have a cool graphic, or do something else interesting.

Or just provide an easy way for users to exchange BTC for the current in game currency, and the current in game currency for BTC, once again with you taking a small cut.

These ideas are probably a bit beyond where you are right now, but something to think about if you continue development, and make this into something bigger.

That sounds like a Great idea, and yes I would love to add something like this... right now CoinRPG offers foundational gameplay, and I am in the middle of drafting up a new design document that will include tons of new additional features which will need to include monetization intergrated into the gameplay design that does not take away any fun from the game. So yes the idea of allowing players to purchase items or things that don't create a huge disadvantage for other players is something I want to do for sure. I'll need to consider this whole BTC to in-game currency idea, so thank you!  ;)

I love playing RPG games, though it would be nice too if there are a lots of features regarding the items and weapons to build. Like enchanting and adding some + to the weapon. Maybe I was just thinking like MMORPG but it would be way cooler and may hit up everyone and lots of gamers might play.

thanks mac for the feedback! actually the plan is to add a mix of MOBA and MMORPG Features into the game. Here are some of my ideas...

You can Join a Game World in Session, When Joining a Game you'll pick a Team to Join and Spawn at a Castle as your Base (if it hasn't been captured already when you join)... You will be able to Explore the Mini Open World to Find Loot, Complete Repeatable Quests for Rewards, Hunt Monsters for Loot and EXP Points. You will be able to Quickly Level Up to a Max Level of 20 during that Game Session, Increase Stats and Unlock Additional Skills. You will also be able go Fight Raid Bosses for Additional Loot Rewards and EXP Points, But while trying to complete all of these objectives to bulk up your Player, you can also engage in PvP Combat, Facing off against an Opposing Team. Teams can Battle for Control of 4 Different Spawn Points around the Map, and also Battle to Capture the Opposing Team's Castle. Capturing Castles and Spawn Points may provide Bonuses and Rewards. Overall the main Objective through all of this will be to Compete for the Highest Ranking on the Leaderboard as the Top Player and Coin Collector of the Game! Players will earn Coins through all of these Objectives shared above.

Finally Top Players will have a chance to Win Real Bitcoins through the Weekly, or Monthly Contests...   

Regarding Weapons and Gear, I plan to allow Players (via Micro-Transaction) to Purchase Additional Skins, Gear, or Weapons but it will be Purely Cosmetics and will Not Offer an Advantage over other Players. Enchanting Weapons won't really be needed because the Player will Increase Stats as they Level Up such as Attack Power, Health, and possibly Speed! 

That's so awesome if it could have some features of MMORPG, but sir... I think, like other games, it would be nice to add the Weapon and Armor Enchanting system, this system could actually make some difference. Thus, enchanting some items in the game would be much pretty exciting. Like looking for some items that is used for adding some abilities, + for damage, critical hits, and many more :)) Oh, btw the first game that I loved online is Ragnarok, it has a low graphics though, but still have nice system and you would like to always try something different, upgrading weapons and items just to make your character tough.

Sorry sir for being such a childish, maybe my Ops are not quite good, but as a online gamer. I loved those games in which you can enhance or upgrade you items and weapons for damage and be more tougher.

The game looks very crisp, to be honest, and awesome. I do believe Unity 3D games which are played via the browser are automatically Sandboxed by the Unity Webplayer, as well, so it should be safe.

Giveway of 0.001 BTC is easy! We are using Coinbase, which has a Send BTC via Email Option. Basically you will get an invitation email to signup for a Coinbase Wallet, but you can easily Transfer the BTC from Coinbase to your Preferred Wallet of coarse.

On my 2GB RAM desktop computer (Win7, Chrome), I'm experiencing annoying crashes. I'll be playing for a while, and then after being fine for a while it'll decide to get a bit choppy and suddenly the screen will go blue as I use a special/magic attack. Unity will then crash and with it Chrome usually does also. It's gone blue about 4 times so far and it's very annoying. Haven't tried it on my 4GB laptop yet, will do soon.

Hmm regarding this Bug, I believe your character is probably a higher level now right? higher than 10? and if you click on magic, or special attack try clicking on yourself... see if the screen goes blue then. I believe this is a bug where the player can attack himself lol!! So for now try to avoid clicks over your player character...  Game is still a bit buggy these Fixes will come for sure.  

Regarding your ideas, cool ideas... will need to consider them, but for other future updates for now I have another offline build that I will push soon that should fix this blue screen bug, and also fix some other performance issues, and bug with Castle Loot not re-spawning.  

I am currently seeking a Partner Crypto / Game Developer to help with further updates of the Game, especially direct Bitcoin or Altcoin integration.

Updates or more advanced features may not come for sometime until I can find the right person for the job. In the meantime I am working on another Game Project that will use the same codebase from this Game but will be Built into a MOBA-style game which does not involve Bitcoin at all...  I may be able to share some of those feature updates with CoinRPG as well... but again there is no plan for integration of Bitcoin in this Forked Game Project, so I think it's better if I can find a dedicated Developer that will be interested in integrating Bitcoin or Altcoin directly into CoinRPG and continue development of different features that will work better for this game.  

They're starting off small with the contests, but I was paid! :)

Is this legit? Please validate thanks....sounds like an interesting concept. However this is prone to scamming and would really need the community and devs to get on this to prevent the bad rep that will come from these kinds of phishing scams

Again, the game is being sold, the dev does not have any future plans and you can not currently earn BTC as it is indeed being sold to whoever wants to make something out of it :P

History:

CoinRPG is a Bitcoin Inspired Multiplayer Online Action RPG Game! The initial idea for the game was to provide casual gamers and bitcoin fans with a very fun, fast-paced, multiplayer, social game where players can engage with others in real-time and compete for Top Ranks on the Leaderboard. Also CoinRPG set out as becoming a Bitcoin Faucet, in other words a way for people to earn Bitcoins Online through playing a fun game, and participating in contests where we Giveaway small amounts of Bitcoin to the Winners.

Monetization:

Currently I have yet to implement any form of Monetization. Google Adsense may be a very good way to Monetize the game, or include some kind of in-game advertisement. If you spend some time developing the game further, promoting the game online to the bitcoin community, and casual gaming market, I believe there is some very good potential to turn this game and domain into a nice stream of passive income.

Reason for Selling:

I have moved on to a brand new game project that will require most of my time and resources that would be required to continue development of CoinRPG.

Funny that you say you'll sell it for no more than $5000.  Does that mean if someone offers you 6000$ you're gonna say "no, sorry"?  Also, why wouldn't you accept payment in bitcoin?  You expect someone on here to use paypal?  Seems contradictory to the spirit of this community to me.  Finally, who is gonna pay 5000$ for code that they haven't seen developed for a free game engine.  Seems extrodinarily overpriced to me, just my opinion though.

That doesn't even make sense, why would anyone offer $6000 if I'm stating the least I will sell it for is $5,000 (I typed "No More", is simply a Typo now Corrected, I'm sure everyone understood what I mean).... Also, I never said I wouldnt accept payment in Bitcoin, if someone contacted me and discussed paying in Bitcoin, i'd be OK with that but PayPal is my prefered method as it prevents me from having to convert Bitcoin to Cash, so why not just pay directly in cash if possible. Regarding the Price, actually $5000 is very cheap, in comparison to what this project is really worth around $10,000+. It's clear you don't really understand what it takes to develop a stable multiplayer game with Player vs Player vs Enemy AI, plus a Storage System to keep track of Inventory and Scores. Anyone with real game development experience will tell you that this is not overpriced at all... actually i'm selling it for 50% off it's real value. Anyhow moving on... thanks for your input anyway.

Incorporating a "earn bitcoin" feature, like a minecraft reloaded would be awesome.  Instead of mining for pointless entertainment, you mine for satoshi's.  Tie it into something like, while you are actively playing, your extra PC resources are doing something productive and that earns you satoshi's.

The something productive could be a commercial project of sorts, obviously mining bitcoins with the PC is pointless, or maybe with 10,000,000 PC's it would be the biggest bitcoin pool on the planet? 

Botnet?

That's a shit ton to code, but possible.  The game would have to kick ass to get that many people interested.

A note to any potential buyers - game creator is working on very similar game so you might run into numerous issues if you purchase CoinRPG, check http://heroesofrune.com

What kind of issues would you run into? Heroes of Rune is not a similar title to CoinRPG at all, these are two totally separate game ideas, and different gameplay features. 

We did in fact use the same Code Base to build Heroes of Rune, but this has now been 5+ months maybe of additional coding work that has gone into Heroes of Rune to make it a totally different game.

Why don't you look at Bitcoin and all the other CryptoCoins that come after it? Were they all original coins coded from scratch? No they were based off Open Source Code. Some are more successful than others all based on the ideas of the developers to make something different and unique.

If you know anything about game development you would know how much it takes to build a multiplayer game, and do it well at that. CoinRPG is a great deal for all that it offers and I am not willing to sell for a low price because I know it's value and how much was put into it already. If someone see's the value then a buyer will come around. If not all good... doesn't matter to me. I'm not desperate to sell it nor am I trying to rip anyone off.

Lets take the 100's and 1000's of successful Game Titles that exist in the world today, most of them use a similar code base (maybe written from scratch, but still all the same functions and features you find across similar titles) to develop either a First Person Shooter, or MMORPG etc...  and still they are Successful because of the Marketing efforts, and or other factors.

One of my first games that I ever published used a code base that was already developed by someone else, and I simply has some new ideas of how to change things, make somethings better, spent time marketing etc... and I turned a $5K investment into a $100K Profit in the following year... So anything is possible, it's about the individual and your ability to take something and turn into something else for greater profit.

As I mention to you I gave up on CoinRPG because I lost interest, and simply moved on to a new project Heroes of Rune... that's like someone who developed a CyrptoCoin and moved on to another CryptoCoin what's the difference? Nothing shady happening here.

I had the same impression. It would be a shame as the idea is really good.

I used to play this, it was a pretty clunky game but it was very fun and I enjoyed it. Shame it's not running anymore.

The development was abandoned because the project was put up for sale due to the OP not having time for it/wanting to focus on other projects. No-one ever bid on it or purchased it, so the project essentially died there as no-one took up development.
