Its an i7 quadcore with 32GB ram --- not a 486!

The difficulty is alot less the BTC --- lower your scan time!

This pool is brand new, so at first there are alot of rejects for the first couple minutes...

Are you getting ACCEPTED in your miner?

I have the scantime adjusted. Anyways, as you said, it went down, but it's still at 20%. I only have 2 stale shares submitted, the rest are rejected for whatever reason by the pool.

p2pool will not accept stales --- disable the submit stales in your miner

I don't do this as they should be negligible, which they are for the most part. 18% of my shares are being rejected for other reasons.

I setup a BEN Benjamins p2pool last week when it launched

its sha256d also ...

STY is configured the SAME as BTC & BEN sha256 algo p2pools

the BTC & BEN pools work fine.

Also, using CPU miner on laptop ( and NOT on the p2pools server )
the minerd got enough shares to show up in pool.

Doubt it. 110/25 accepted/rejected after zeroing out a minute ago. Scantime is 15 seconds, which should be plenty low enough, as I have this set to failover back to BTC too in case my pool goes down.

When a pool is fresh and no data, it might have alot of rejects for the first few minutes
and then its good-to-go once it has some SHARES and data for the new pool.

I can with CPU minerd   & this other guy seems to be too.

you may actually want a scantime of 2 to 8 seconds.  This coins is alot lower diff than bitcoin

Yep, things are much better now. Still high reject rate, but I'm no longer losing 30% of my hashrate, so pretty much as long as bfgminer says I am submitting over 5GHs, I am within what I consider acceptable for mining an altcoin. (6.3GHs in antminers, with a chili miner that should be here in under 12 hours.)

Both the BLOCK Diff and the P2POOL SHARE Diff have went up alot.

I think this has been a VERY sucessful launch indeed!


the pool rate right now is around 3.65 Ths



there is 1 miner in p2pool with over 1Ths alone ( nice! )  --   He is the King of the pool 8)



Perhaps the share diff has become too high for your hashrate
if you are not getting any accepted on your miner.    current share diff = 203.53719048 and steadily increasing

It also takes a few mins for new miners stats to kick in
if you just got in pool and your miner is getting accepted shares.

There is a second way to take part in Stories if you don't have great mining power. The alternative method to "mine" Stories is to tell one. 500,000 STY are held to pay out blocks of 3000 STY to anyone who tells a great story, be it written, filmed, painted, whatever.


HOW IT WORKS


IN THE SUBREDDIT

1. Write or link to your story or art. (full urls please, urls that have been shortened are automatically rejected)
2. Include "Submitting work" in the title. If it is a "text post" add your Stories public address at the end of your post. If it is a link, comment on your submission with the same information.
3. If other users like your work they can "verify" with the following: "@submissionusername coolstory" and must be followed by a comment on what they enjoyed about the submission.
EG:

@UnderAuthor coolstory
I specifically enjoyed that part concerning the cool story.

4. Those "verifying" work must reply to those who verified the same work before them, else be disregarded. This creates a chain of verification that makes it easier to process blocks.

looks like the high speed cable modem went down for around 30 minutes
sometime around 6:00am EST ... and came back online around 6:30 or so....
I'm guessing it was the ISP... IDK  --- happened while i was asleep, but i noticed
that all the pools had approx. 30minutes of activity missing around that time.

the p2pool found so many blocks, the stats page was a mile long...

the pool data has been reset, and the p2pool is online

Looks like the miners who got in on STY early made out like bandits in the p2pool!
It was finding nearly every block...  which is cool

the p2pool is ONLINE and ready to shell out lots of payouts, as it had been.

i contacted the ISP

they said there was alot of suspicious activity including
heavy pings and port-scanners detected and that their
system temporarily blocked ports for 30 minutes

so WTF??? Why would people do this?
Either trying to steal wallets or take down the pool, i guess.

that stinks, whatever the reason ...

I had requested that the ISP refrain from auto-blocking ports
in future, as the linux server is very secure.

hope the miners who thought p2pool went offline
return - the poolrate was over 4Ths and getting
almost every block --- so miners were making LOTS and LOTS of payouts quickly
and paid out on every block too, as p2pools doesnt receive nor hold miners coins
like the sign-up pools do :)

I can only speculate and have my suspicions as to who may be responsible ...

the STY P2POOL is now using a new PORT# ( IP is the same )

Yes, the p2pool is ONLINE and using a new port#  ( 21450)
due to someone attacking that pools port...

all the other p2pools do not have this issue
its just this 1 new pool, which ran for a very long time
without issues, finding almost every block, and paying out
LOTS of payouts every block!

I had noticed before changing the port# for the pool, that the web-stats
page wouldnt load most of the time or even update.

Now that the STY p2pool is using a new port, the web-stats load
immediately as they should...

This has REALLY pissed me off - someone attacking the new pool
probably to run the miners off and to somewhere else - bastards!
Gee, I wonder who would have such a motive to do such a low-down thing like that... ???

Anyways,

the data has been cleared from that pool, so it might take 5-10minutes
before the pool stats and payouts start showing, as it is a fresh new pool again.

I've worked out that each altcoin that gets up in MintPal basically pays an auction bid of about 1-1.2 BTC on top of hourly votes to get to the top of the list. It's an expensive exchange to get listed in, given others are free. I've paid some BTC to try to get STY up (and so have others) but got caught last night right at the end because of time differences. I'm thinking: we keep doing hourly votes (STY is currently 21605) but let TakeiCoin (currently 27039) make it next. (They jumped ahead of STY cause they paid 1.33906 BTC). Then compete against Teslacoin (currently 12582) as they are further behind. Jumping ahead of TakeiCoin again will probably require a lot more BTC than staying ahead of Teslacoin . What do people think?

Hi everyone,

i would like to thank everybody who mined on my pool. It was my first sha coin and i saw that it held well at 5th load.

Sadly there seems to be noone else mining on it anymore so i think i will close the pool down over the next weeks.

I will do one last change and set the pool fees to 0 and leave it to the miners to decide weather they want to donate or not.

Should the situation not change over the next week i will kill the stratum server, set minimum manual payout to 0.00000001 STY and leave a 2 weeks window for miners to withdraw they coins.

It is unfortunate but there is no point in using resources when noone is interested.

We had a good run with STY yesterday and today but now someone is trying to jack it back down, look at all the absurd sells. Was about to crack 200 and some douche started manipulating it down. Expect a lot of pump and dump action now.

Well the coin doesn't have a lot of activity based on some indicators (this thread being only 19 pages despite how long the coin has been out is one example.)

I do... unfortunately, the wallet wasn't built very well and all the data is found in the folder where the exe is started from.

Everything is the same directory than the Stories wallet application

If the wallet sync, the only other thing we need to do is to vote on Mintpal.

Stories is still pretty high on this list. If 10 persons add 50 votes each day, there is a real possibility to make it (a better option would be to have 50 persons and 10 votes per day  ;)

Stories is also very cheap on Cryptorush. Buy there until Cryptorush do a crypocrash  ;D

Myself I vote each day on Mintpal and add 20-25 votes. For what I have seen, there are 3-4 persons who do the same.

But in order to make it to Mintpal, it should be much more than that: 20 or so persons. There are a lot of coins with less votes now than STY that progress a lot and will pass in a matter of one week. So at the current rate of vote, STY will stay in that position forever.

Another worrying thing is that the developer is missing in inaction, vanished. In order to change things, that should be the first thing to do: ask him to come back or to pass the control to others.

The first column is the current count of vote this morning one hour ago, the second the growth rate in the past week and the third the estimated number in two weeks based on the increase in past week.

This means that in two weeks time, Grumpycoin, iXcoin, XXLcoin, Coin2 and PolishCoin will have made it to Mintpal and STY could be first on the list.

There are some coins that will be very close: Gridcoin, 66 Coin, EmperorCoin, MtgoxCoin.

And some with a big growth rate, which means a strong community willing to spend BTC on its coin and that could overcome STY quite fast: NobleCoin, KittehCoin, 365Coin, Einsteinium, PLNcoin, GPU Coin, iCoin, Heisenberg, SiliconValleyCoin.

That means that STY has a real chance to make it, but the window of opportunity is short. We have to push all together: everybody should vote on Mintpal during the next two weeks. Personally I will add each day around 50 votes, or in two weeks around 700. If 10 persons do the same, we could add 7000 votes and have STY very close to the top then!

Now that Crypto Rush is... I don't even know what to call it, dead(?) we should push for this coin to get onto one major exchange. Maybe Mintpal or maybe Bittrex - it might actually be worth contacting Bittrex and asking them about it, they are a lot easier to get a coin listed on and it seems to be a pretty decent exchange. Don't get me wrong Mint is good too but it's hard to get a coin listed at Mint without paying them a bribe er I mean voting...

It would be much better to have STY on Bittrex or on C-Cex before Mintpal.

As CryptoRush has crashed, there is no longer a safe place to buy STY in advance of a possible entry into Mintpal. It's very important to have some place where people can buy a coin before entering a big exchange. The week before entering Mintpal can create expectation, which leads to an increase in the price, and that may even put in motion a kind of pump mechanism (which was the case for example for Bitcoinscrypt before entering Mintpal, with an increase of 50 times and then a drop to the previous level afterward).

If STY enters Mintpal with such a low price as it is now, nobody will buy it and it will go the path of Karma, Panda or Rabbit.

So how to promote STY to Bittrex or C-Cex, or even Poloniex? Does anybody know how to do it?

Doesn't look like it. I've PM'd the dev and no response. nearly half the coins available have been mined now, and the client needs updating due to many bugs as well as heartbleed. My pool is the only place people are going but if there's no progress with development, it may have to come to an end. No new exchanges have added it and the only one now is bittrex and the volume is nill..

Alright community who wants to step up and be the new dev lol? I don't code so I'm out. Also, I think a team is better than one person ideally... then if one person flakes the whole development of the coin doesn't just grind to a halt.

I tried delete everything other than the wallet.dat then restart qt. But it doesn't work...

I guess it's because there don't have many nodes in the net. So few of them that I can't connect any of them and begin to sync.

So it's not only the number of votes. Maybe we just have to convince them, that STY is a great concept and worth to push.

Dev deleted all of his posts without any real reason, maybe someone could use those information's to revive Stories. At the end if I look all the facts this coin was better than most of the coins we had this year. At least everything worked properly.
