Title: The price appears to be going steadiliy up, time to buy in?
Post by: thegoatiest on August 18, 2018, 11:11:33 AM
I've been examining the price of BTC since August 9 2018. It has been very up and down. By as much as 10% at times.
I was waiting for this next dip of ~10% before buying in and Holding....  but it's looking to me like it's breaking out of the up/down trend of late and quite steadily going up.
I've so far made a string of bad moves involving crypto..
Would you recommend buying in now at around 5720 euro, or waiting for it to (hopefully) dip down to 5400 euro again, as it has many times in the last two weeks.?
Thanks for any advise.

it depends on the strategy that you are following.
if this is a strategy to make profit from short term fluctuations then make sure to buy in the dip. right now we are in the recovery phase so you are already late, there isn't a rally going on so buying now is not recommended.  also buying in the dip depends on its type, if it is just a silly dip because of FUD then buying at $6000 is recommended (convert it to euro on your own).

but if it is a longer term investment then the same rules apply but with a lot of wiggle room because you are not planning on selling soon so you can afford to buy at a higher price and not wait for the very bottom because you have time to reach profit.

These type of fluctuations are in a dip percentage and happen simultaneously in every month but these fluctuations don't cause a plenty effect on large scale investment although, small scale investments are probably invested by these fluctuations and you have to wait a scantily more in order to earn profit using small scale investment, but you should have a good strategy and to recognize a best splash in price.

The up and downs you mentioned since August 9 look like it was the market testing the support level, and it seems like the price held pretty well at the 6k levels which could be the new floor. I'd recommend you to buy now since it looks like the price has started to recover about three days ago, we're currently at 6400, but next time you check the prices we could be above the 6500, so don't waste more time and buy before it's too late.

I won't say that the price is increasing steadily since the fluctuations are happening on a daily basis but yeah I can say that the price is increasing slowly.
So it depends on what your aim is. If you want to make gains from the short term fluctuations or get the profits from the long term investments. For the short term gains you could probably wait a little so that the price takes a deeper dip and if for the long term then you can buy it at the current price as it not that bad as well.

Alcoin did have some growth in the last two days, but I don't think the market correction is complete now, and the market will continue to correct without some mining and most of the coins disappearing.

The sincere truth is that no one can accurately predict the price of bitcoin in the upcoming days and weeks as bitcoin price is not controlled by anyone. It may fall below your target price or even increase in the upcoming days. I suggest if you have the money invest now and hold and watch your investment. There is no perfect time to buy bitcoin as any price you buy is OK

The best thing to do is step in in stages.  Maybe 10% a day.  Your available funds will never truly run out and you will be buying for a few weeks.  This will help average out your cost.  Maybe only buy every 3rd day to get a more accurate average.

I think if we were going to 3500 like some have said we would have gotten there by now.  We seem to have an awesome base here in the 6,000 range.  I don't think we are going much below that.

I think, based on the run Bitcoin is making, it may be a good idea to buy right now before it reaches its peak amount. If you were serious, you actually should have bought some coins way before since you could have made more money if you did. However, it's never too late, therefore, since the price is steadily going up, and there is still some room for its value to grow, I would say that buying now is still a good move. However, you just have to be ready for putting up more capital than you could have when it was lower in value.

It looks like the prices are dumping again so wait for the bottom line approximately $5900 then buy the bitcoins and again the prices will move up wards which is the trends bitcoin is following for a week or more. But if your choice is holding the bitcoin for long term then don't take too much consideration about these small dumps.

Be very careful when waiting for the price to drop. It is way better to jump in now than it is to wait and try to time a perfect bottom. One of the biggest mistakes traders can make is trying to time the market. It's better to buy, and have the price drop a bit afterwards than it is to wait so long that you miss a pump and panic buy in later. Do you plan on hodling long-term? Because if you do, I would highly recommend to just buy and hodl now. You don't want to wait for a drop that might not happen, just to save a few $100 euros.

It is impossible to predict the price. 2 things may happen. Bitcoin may go down even more if ETF fails to get approval. many people think like that. So 6000 is a bet actually. Now 2nd thing. With natural growth and adaptation , BTC may go high enough to make huge profit. So in this point, profit or loss depends on your strategy.

If you want profit in short term, I think it is not good time to buy. But if you can hold for long time, it is pretty good point to enter into the market

It is better to spilt the fund and buy it with ladder technique so as not miss the pump or dump either way it goes

You could have bought when it was below 6000$ and easily make some profits now. At the moment, I am not so convince about the steady upward movement of Bitcoin rather I see a consistent upward and downward trends.

I think you can buy it and it is going to rise steadily in the future. I think that it is better to buy some popular coins and benefit from it. buy it and sell the next year when the price will rise.

I do not think its a good idea to buy in now , you had all the time to buy when the market was bearish.

If you're concerned you could just stagger your buys over time to dollar cost average it. Trying to time the market can be tricky, but if you do it the way I mentioned you can avoid a lot of the guesswork.

Yes, this is a good opportunity. there are so many people who complain about the decline in bitcoin prices, even though behind this there are advantages / opportunities that we can take, we can buy coins when the price is cheap, and when the price goes up, we sell it.

i suggest if you have the money to buy now, waste no time and do that. no one can accurately predict the price of bitcoin. people only speculate about bitcoin rising and falling but we have seen lots of cases where these sepculations and predictions dont happen to show no one controls the price of bitcoin. buy when you can as there is profit to be made at any price you get bitcoin due to the great potentials it has.

of course this is a very good opportunity for you personally but for me not because I will wait in a few days to be more convincing, no one can predict prices in this scope because some people still don't believe that now is a good year for cryptocurrency , trying to support current prices both to take advantage of such trades and what is clear to hold for the long term for me is a good strategy to cut excessive losses, actually if you are smart in managing money there will be benefits in price fluctuations every day but I'm not a smart person in daily trading.

If your a long-term investor it doesn't matter if prices go to that 3500 for a short while because after that it can surely bounce back to much higher price. But if one wants to wait until it reaches that lower price level to enter the market then they may miss the opportunity to buy bitcoins. So it always good to start buying in small amounts from now so that you can get a best average price over the time.

If you're aiming just to gain,i guess need to wait until it goes down $5,500 but theres no assurance that it can go down that value or the train will come sooner than what you expected

But if you are here in this community to trust and support cryptocurrency before thinking about profit, then you must buy now to help the value grow and continuously make way for the growth we have all been waiting

to be honest it's hard to predict, but I'm waiting at 5600 euros because I believe that the fast price fluctuations can go to 6000+ euros and if I fail to prepare this prediction, I have to use the second method, use trading signals and see other news

If you want to be more secure, it is best not to invest in this market this year because 2018 is really a disappointment for the whole market. I believe that if you want to invest then this may be a good opportunity but I advise everyone to wait for the SEC's approval of the ETF to consider the investment because if the ETF is involved in this market then it will certainly attracting many investors around the world

I think now the buying strategy id good and prices is circulating in $6400 round about but extra capital it is good to use it instead of holding capital with you and the price of crypto can be rise with in an hour or two in the future so you may get the return of it but now the behavior should be to buy now.

I think now is a good time to buy and hold to 2020. I feel the current world economy is going down, it has affected Crypto.
Cryptocurrency is a new trend and is well received by many investors. In the future, when the economy is recovered, the altcoins will begin to thrive.

Currently bitcoin prices are unstable, if you want to invest in the long term maybe the right time to buy bitcoin is when prices go down, but if you want to trade on day trading, you need precision in market strategy, when is the right time to buy and when the right one to sell. but according to the news the price of bitcoin starts to rise even though the price increase occurs slowly but is expected to continue to increase.

Well, it was time to get in a month ago too when it reached $5.8k. The problem is not "when is it a good time to buy in", it is more "does people freak out when price goes down?" because there are a lot of people who sell right when price goes down even 100 dollars. I have a friend who bought at $6.4k the other day and got afraid and sold at $6.2k like a day later.

People are afraid that bitcoin will go below $5k or even below $4k. Those are the people we need to convince to get in, not us. To me I will always have some savings put aside in bitcoin because I believe in bitcoin and spend the rest for my living because I believe in the project. As long as bitcoin market is holding up above $6k levels then this must be a great buying opportunity to maximize our holding up to the level we are able to. Keep buying, bitcoin will never disappoint you.

If you are planning to hold bitcoins, then buy bitcoin right now and you don’t have to wait for another dip. But if you are planning to day trade then wait until for the next dip. It depends on what you want to do or what strategy you are planning in this bearish market. Bull market is coming and you should act and make your move now.

I know that you had seen on the current price of bitcoin which it do even hit up 6500 and if you do able to buy on the prices you had mentioned and didn't wait for the dip then you are making profits now if you do make it short. For now you should wait again for bitcoins price to go down on 6k price point to buyback but though it isn't a sure thing that it wont go down even more since you do make shorts you can still hold of even you are on negative.

I don't know if you want to hold for a very long time? If you want to hold I think now is the right time to buy so that you will not miss the big gain in some years to come but if it is short term then I will said you should buy at a lower dip than now.

It was down from $8,000 last month due to the recent hype and this was the near dip from the last time of $5900 then there was a strong support below that so it is most likely that you should buy now to position your holdings while the price was dipped you shouldn't be worried as to what is the deepest point of the price it can get if you are a long-term trader well different story if you are a day trader.

When to invest, it depends entirely on you. And you can define it by discussing with your team. Because every investor has a different strategy. In that case, you should make a decision by checking the situation of cryptomarket.

One more newcomer and one more questions "Is it time to buy". It`s either that or "Is it time to sell". They can`t think about any better question, they can`t start any other discussion, it`s like some magic circle. It has been said many times that will you buy or sell depends from many factors, without more informations it`s impossible to say anything. Bitcoin price will go up, but do you have time to wait. Do you plan to make double profit from your investment? You need to wait for that. If you wish to make 10% profit, you can do that any week, when you look at the price and fluctuation range if you buy on bottom and sell on top you can make even more then 10%, it`s risky but anyone can try it, just don`t cry later if you make wrong moves. I can elaborate some other strategies too, but is meaningless, looks like newcomers don`t read what we wrote, like most of the others, they just ask stupid questions and probably they expect some magic answers that will bring them fast profit.

The price of coins has fallen to the lowest level so far, to the bottom of the market and can not be reduced anymore, so the price of the coin is coming back, so I should buy them now, grasping. Hold and wait for market recovery opportunities

The price of bitcoin has been a bit stable this days and I think it a positive sign.  Since January we have more of bearish market than bullish market and many investors especially the newbies are getting discouraged about the happening.  I just wish bitcoin resume upwards movement.

when buy ? and when sell.?  I think it is based on the technical analysis, market judgment of each trader. No one can see the price of bitcoin in the future. If you are a long-term investor. I think the bitcoin price under $ 6k5 is a nice price to buy in long term hold.

If you try to make short time profit I guess you can buy around 5330 to 5500 euro. But there is always risk as it can’t be said how the market for BTC will turn in future. This is up to you whether you want to buy in or not.

Price of BTC ranged from 6217 USD to 8397 USD in July 2018. So if you look for investing on BTC for short time I guess you can buy around 5400 euro. But it can’t be surely predicted that this month going to be like the previous one.

Actually it is not quite easy for someone to predict the market for BTC. If you have enough money you can wait till the price takes dip around 5300 euro. Buying at higher price won’t be a good idea if you try to make short time profit.

Indeed, if you're a long term investor, then this time is perfect for you, $6,000 is pretty low now, if you are patient, you can earn in the near future, I guess there will be no loss since you're a long term investor, you can just sell your coin once Bitcoin recovers, and also the $5,600 line is still not broken, so if it goes down there, you can just wait till it goes up again.

Just a question, if you have admitted that you have made a series of bad moves when it comes to trading cryptocurrencies, why do you keep trying? Have you acquired new knowledge that guarantees another attempt to try to trade? Have you adjusted your strategy and have you tested it?

I am not trying to be disrespectful but maybe it is time to try something else, sometimes no matter how much you study you are simply not good at something and that is fine, but even if you are not a very good trader maybe you can be a very good long term holder and if that is the case then buying at the current prices is a good idea since it is unlikely the price is going to go that much lower.

Well the point is that it will be going higher than now even though it may not be ascertained, as a trader we must be prepared by analyzing price movements from time to time. Good luck to us

As the cost is relentlessly going up, and there is still some space for its incentive to develop, I would state that purchasing presently is as yet a decent move. In any case, you simply must be prepared for setting up more capital than you could have when it was brought down in esteem.

Benefit or misfortune relies upon your system. On the off chance that you need to benefit in here and now, I think it isn't a great time to purchase. However, in the event that you can hold for quite a while, it is a really decent point to enter the market.

I won't state that the cost is expanding consistently since the vacillations are going on once a day yet no doubt I can state that the cost is expanding gradually. So it relies upon what your point is. On the off chance that you need to make picks up from the transient variances or get the benefits from the long haul ventures.

Yes, the price steadily is going up but it also steadily falls down some time. The price has been going up and down every day it’s not going down below $6,000. Now would be a good time to buy if you’re thinking of holding it for a long time. I bet you’ll see a huge profit by the end of the year.

The fact that the present support level is really trying to hold does not mean it still cannot end up failing when tested again. One fact there is right now is that the market is still in a huge downtrend and the bears are still lurking around the corner. We have been stamping a lower high and lower low for a while now, and somehow forming a wedge pattern, so until we get to break out to form a higher high and higher low, which depicts the start of a new trend, before we can be so certain if the bottom has been reached or not.

I have already bought 2 coins for $6,100ish and I guess that is the lowest price I could manage to find. Though it is not late yet, you can still invest some money on Bitcoin right now as it seems to be recovering from the recent bearish market trend that we have seen. It might prove to be extremely profitable both in long and short term.

I would like to understand better, you want to buy to hold for a long time and at the same time you are worried about buying when the price falls more? Imagine that you buy at $6500 and then the price will drop to $ 6000, what difference will it make? if you are going to hold it for many years, that does not make any difference, just buy at any price at less than $7000 and hold for at least 2 years

the price will always down and up, so it depends your decision when you will buy, and how much you want take profit, because if you in without target, you will stuck there.

this scenario applies to day trade, the best option is to invest in the long term

This will depend on how good your strategy is. If you want to stay for a higher returns it will be better to buy now and not to sell them till the market hits the complete bull run. And if you want quick returns, do not buy now anymore but sell the moment the price is at a profitable level.

This will actually depend on the fact that whether you want to stay for the long run or for the short run. If you want quick money then buying more coins will not be a quick idea. But for the long run, buy and HODL.

Title: Re: The price appears to be going steadiliy up, time to buy in?

Well it will depend on your strategy actually. If you are in this for the long run, then go ahead and buy it now, but HODL, don't sell the coins till the market has reached the complete bull run. And if you want quick returns, that is short term, then you might be a little late since the market is already recovering. Sell your current coins when the price rises a little higher.

Its true the Bitcoin price did show a steady increases and for day traders this would have been an opportune moment to have sold some BTC especially now that most people believe the price will boom again, if one thinks the opposite, which has been the case with the price dropping again. It depends on how risky you want to get, I suppose, and of course the opposite is true.

I dont think that the market is going steadily up, as the market is moving with 10 % up and down, like traders ar buying near $6000 range and as soon as it goes up 10% they start selling and bring back the old price. This is following for past 1 or 2 months, So now it is taking support nearby $6000k side and if breakout upside then we can see the price going $8000+ price

You need to see how to buy the volume, when the price of a coin goes down you don't need to rush to buy the coin, indeed when the price goes down it looks very convincing to buy because the price is lower than yesterday, but we also have to pay attention to other things from your mistake because you might easily panic when the price drops again and sells it, try to hold on and wait for the rising trend.
I think it would be better if you split your funds into 60% and 40%, which is 60% for you to make buy orders at 5400 euros and 40 for buy directly at 5571 euros.

Now the price is low and not stable, coin prices are trending downward and this is a good opportunity for us to buy the coins, but be careful not to be too risky.

As an investment, bitcoin is the safest crypto currency right now, and in my opinion it's the best coin to invest in. And yes, there's never a good enough time to buy them :D

BTC is building momentum by making series of significant increasing. The price is bit stable these days. For long term investment, better to buy now than later. Expect the price to go up entering the fourth quarter.

This is the 10 billion question everyone has in their minds - Lol. You may have a point in the fact that BTC has beenn movinng sideways for so much time - that could be some serious accumulation going on. Unless it's just another wave of distribution.

if you think it is already good to buy, then buy it. Because if you miss and if you loss you can't blame other people for it. I see you already good in trading, analyze by ourself is better than ask for people's suggestion.

There have been so many bulltraps recently, I would act with extreme caution and expect to loose some as it is hard to time the market.  Personally I will stay on the sidelines, I want to see a lot more confirmation from the market.

Exactly, it's very risky at the moment. The market is unstable by FUD and prices may fall anytime in the next few days. This time it is best to wait and look at the market, BTC will continue to go down in time with and we can wait to buy at better prices.

the current recommendation to buy, of course we are waiting for when it is really down, the first one we can get more bitcoin, then when the price has really gone up we will get a pretty abundant profit, but with this kind of situation sometimes we feel panic because cheap prices are afraid the price will not return.

yes you are right now the price of bitcoin seems to have begun to show a sign of rising prices so now is the right time to buy as much cryptocurrency as you can so you don't miss this movement when the price starts to rise again.

to buy coins or invest in altcoins does not have to wait for prices to fall, because the value of the crypto currency cannot be predicted in advance, because as a trader it must have its own strategy to buy and sell

In recent time bitcoin price is moving well. That’s why you can invest on this project and wait for next year. I believe price will raise more in near future.

Although I do not see any visible changes on the crypto market, you might better buy Bitcoins right now. Next year or even earlier BTC will be much more expensive.

People just want to see what they want to see, you could show the very same chart to 100 traders and you will get one hundred different interpretations about that chart and in an even more funny twist they will never really agree about a common chart that describes the behavior that they are seeing, this is why I have always thought about charts as nothing more as fortune telling and as we know it has been shown time and time again that those that do technical analysis do very poorly over the long term, and most the time they are surpassed by those people that instead just hold their coins for the long term.

yes now the prices of bitcoin and other altcoins are starting to rise and now is a good time to invest, buy a few different coins to avoid if one of the coins goes down later, because the nature of the crypto currency is unpredictable

Totally spot on, none of the TA experts did forecast the massive bullrun last year and I don't know of anyone who warned at the peak that the party will be over soon, let alone that we would heading towards a long bear market.

The market is still down to $7k and yes it was a decent price to invest a huge amount because in this way you can earn more profit when when the market started to pump up again.

Since you have made so many bad moves then it is the time to change your strategy, you seem to want to predict the movements of bitcoin and then earn money while trading, am I right? But that has not worked, so it is the time to try something different, become a long term holder, the prices are not going to get that much better and if you invest enough money in bitcoin then it is likely that in the next years you could multiply your money many times over if you are willing to wait.

According to the price chart of the crypto, in general almost the price of the crypto tends to increase, may continue in the coming time. That means that this is also an opportunity for to make more profit. However, the market is still not very stable.

What tools or indicators you have been used up? Are you more on technical or fundamentals or none?

This market volatility can really fucked you up for how many times because theres no significant percentage on how the market moves. It can dumped 30-50% on worst market conditions and can pump out for higher percentages.

Sure. If you think this for bitcoin then this is the perfect time for buy and hold. Buy as much as you can. There is no chance for drop again within two or three months I think. Even you can buy ethereum also. It is true that if bitcoin drop then ethereum also follow it. Now bitcoin going steadily up so I think ethereum also follow it. For sure look at the daily price for bitcoin and ethereum. You can find this exact and current price in any news or exchange sites. Example: Coindesk.

For me it is also feeling like we're not going to drop down anymore, but who knows maybe in few days from now we will be regretting of making those conclusions. We will see.

It seems that bitcoin lingered for 6-7 thousand dollars
This is also a good entry threshold for long-term storage
Of course you can wait for a lower price, but I do not think this will happen
I prefer to find good projects and participate in the beginning of the road-it is beneficial.

Yes, now the market is starting to recover and red has dominated the green, but that does not mean that in the next few months there will be a high leap, because I am still not sure about it because the market is still not stable, so waiting and buying coins is the right position right now

As you can see, if you had waited, then August 22 could have bought bitcoin for $400 cheaper. Since August 18, the price began its decline and on August 22 it reached the lowest point in this time at $6,250. At this stage it was your only chance.
But in any case, if your goal is to buy bitcoin for a long term hold, then for you the difference of $400 should not be significant. Moreover, I doubt that you would be one of those lucky people who would have clearly guessed at what price to buy, so the difference would be even smaller.
Of course, if your goal was to buy bitcoin for a quick sale, then even $100 play an important role. But if you can't conduct such a transaction without advice, then I think that for you it's too early to engage in short term traiding.

Right now the market is all red except for bitcoin diamond that is growing more than 100%, I really do not understand why, I know that you want a bull run who doesn't want one? But we do not get to choose, and it's incredibly unlikely that we're going to see a bull run in this year, it is very likely that we will need to wait for several years before we see that, I know that you may not be very happy about it but that is the reality of this market right now.

Totally agree. If you are loosing and you keep doing the same thing, this is the definition of insanity. Most people loose by predicting the short term prices. I also got burned many times trying to do that. Just rethink your strategy and find better ways of investing, like focussing on the long term.

Unfortunately many people are blinded by greed, they only see the potential profits that they can get out of trading in a very short amount of time and they think that they want some of that money for them not understanding that they are the ones that are going to lose a lot of money and are going to allow professional traders to make great profits, just to give you an idea of how bad this is there are people in the forum that lost money trading in the middle of the bull market, how do you lose money when all the coins are going up? By trading, that's how.
