Title: Sent funds to coinbase Aug9th and have not yet received them...HELP
Post by: Alexw592 on August 30, 2018, 11:10:49 PM
Hi everyone! I am not sure where I need to post to get help...I will explain my situation below:

On August 9th I sent two transactions from my Kraken account to my coinbase account. These transactions were sent to the same coinbase wallet address about 15min apart... one transaction was for .09 Bitcoin and the other .64 roughly. The first transaction went into my coinbase wallet no problem, the second transaction has still not hot my coinbase account. I have contacted both Kraken and Coinbase with no luck. Kraken says the transaction was successful so they cannot do anything on there end...Coinbase says that the wallet address is not linked to my coinbase account...however this is not true as transaction #1 for $600 roughly went into my coinbase wallet...transaction #2 is still sitting on the block chain and is roughly $4,000 which is a lot for me. I have all the picture proof of the transaction on Kraken showing both sent to same wallet....coinbase keeps telling me that the wallet is not a coinbase wallet. I am stuck and have no way to get my $4,000. I am very stressed out and do not know what to do! Any help someone can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You!

then you need to address this to coinbase support
make sure you pointed out you are receiving the 2nd payment on the same (previous) receiving address
I suspect this is a 2-payment-in-1-txid issue, which sometime the 2nd not get picked up by the system
by any chance you are willing to tell us corresponding address and both transaction ids?

I have all the picture proof of the transaction on Kraken showing both sent to same wallet....coinbase keeps telling me that the wallet is not a coinbase wallet.
Can you tell us the address where you've sent your Bitcoins from Kraken exchange?
Or link the (edited/censored) image for us to view.

The problem could be in coinbase's system detection as Thirdspace mentioned, but you've already contacted them regarding this.
Just need to re-enumerate your statement.
Since most exchanges are batching withdrawals, there might be an error in coinbase's side due to the huge number of inputs exchange withdrawals usually has.
Or there's really a typo in the second transaction's address.

We'll never be able to give some insights unless you can provide more information.

Does Coinbase show you a history of all deposits? I'm not familiar with Coinbase, but assuming it does, it will prove you've used that address before.
Can you post what exactly you sent to Coinbase? From what I've seen about support from exchanges, it helps to be very clear and only to the point, so they can forward it to someone who can actually fix this for you.

Are you really sure the both addresses are identical ? Did you check that afterwards ?
You might have a copy-clipboard-malware which changes an copied address to the attackers one.

But if you are sure those two addresses are identical, all you can do is contact coinbase and show them your first deposit which got credited (to that specific address).
They should be able to find their mistake and credit you the amount.

Or there's really a typo in the second transaction's address.

Since the checksum is 32 bits, the probability of entering an wrong address that will still decode to a valid one is roughly 1 in 4.3 billion.

Thats rather unprobable. Copy/pasting the wrong address or a clipping malware does seem way more realistic in this case.

Morning guys...I will post everything I have on my end. Email conversations with coinbase etc. I have all the details of the two transactions as well! At this time coinbase closed my case and are saying that the wallet address I sent funds to is not linked with my account. Funny part is is that the wallet address both transactions were sent to does not show up in my account history for wallet addresses. Anyhow I will be uploading all I have...I am very stressed out as it is a lot of money to me, I have an 11month old boy and another on the way end of Nov so I need to get my money!

Appreciate all the response!

I will post what I have below

You should NOT post all of data (your emails with coinbase, .. ) which contain sensitive information publicly online.

For now, the address you have sent the funds to (or the tx id) is enough. We can get a better picture of the whole situation knowing this.

What wallet and OS are you using ? What device did you use to access coinbase when depositing ?

Your history on coinbase or your local wallets history ?
Please answer all open questions, it would simplify finding out what happened a lot.

Alright.. so looking at the transaction and the first email this is what i can conclude:

You have deposited 0.09471172 BTC from 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj to 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/17fa98a77b8ce4dc91bd9569f4663687922344f223b9979dbb54a31996b11beb).

Coinbase has confirmed that 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE is their address (from the 1st mail).

12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj obviously is your address. Your wallet does hold the private key for this address (what wallet are you using ??)

Afterwards you have sent 0.62574 BTC to 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/f1c52f3edd8fcb8277013b7654bcba48a1c3559bddd6ff305a95491210d6fde0) (which you have control of), confusing it with the address from coinbase (36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE).

Your coins (0.62574 BTC) are still under your control. You can access them with the same wallet (and wallet file / seed / etc..) as when depositing to coinbase the first time.
They should be visible in your wallet.

This list is too long :P No customer support employee has the time to get to all the details this way. Adding your life story about your kids is touching, but doesn't make your case easier to understand. Stick to the important details only.

I don't have time now to read all the details, so tell me if this is correct:
36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE is your Coinbase deposit address
12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj is where you sent your funds twice
The first deposit to 12ng~ somehow got forwarded to 36ii~.

Update: I like what bob123 says much better. If that's the case, you're good!

Wallet address I sent to is here: 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj

Transaction #1 did go through...was for .09481 and the transaction #2 did not go into my coinbase account..it was for .62574

I don't know what to do...I have provided all the proof to coinbase to fix the situation and they are still reluctant to help...anything else you need to help me I can provide

I have pictures of the transactions on Kraken which show the wallet addresses that are identical I am not sure how to post pix on this site tho

OP claims he sent the coins to 12ngg...

But somehow the first lot then went from 12ngg to 36ii5, but the 2nd lot didn't??!? ??? ??? ???

Something else has happened here that the OP hasn't quite explained. Did they withdraw from Kraken to another wallet app before sending to Coinbase? ???

Upload the pics to an image hosting service like imgur and then post the links generated by that service

Because somehow there is an intermediary address (12ngg..) between your withdrawal of kraken and the deposit to coinbase (36ii5..).

address 12ngg3CB... clearly received 2 payments ~20 mins apart
where do you get the 12ngg... address from? as how you generate it on coinbase?
it's crucial knowing how you generate it, could it be a one-time payment address on coinbase system?

Coins have gone: Kraken -> 12ngg address (unknown wallet?) -> 36ii5 (Coinbase)...

The solution is that you need to figure out which wallet is in control of the 12ngg address...

It isn't Kraken... And apparently it isn't Coinbase. What apps did you use? What apps do you have installed on your phone?

This does make sense.

From the coinbase FAQ:
Quote
Coinbase began implementing SegWit across our platform on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. We will progressively update all customer Bitcoin addresses to be SegWit-compatible (SegWit addresses) over the following week.

So, the 12ngg.. is somehow a different address (not from coinbase).

Yes I directly copied from the official coinbase app...I have an iphone. I went into coinbase and selected the account I named "Cash Out Account" top right of screen there is a button you hit which pulls up a screen saying only send BTC to this address...I hit show address and copy the address from there. Is it this app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coinbase-bitcoin-wallet/id886427730 ?

Please verify whether you are using the official application.

As far as I am concerned the 12ngg is from coinbase? As the first transaction made it successfully into my coinbase account

Unfortunately not. The transaction from 12ngg.. to 36ii5.. (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/17fa98a77b8ce4dc91bd9569f4663687922344f223b9979dbb54a31996b11beb) made it successfully to coinbase.

This seems to be very odd..
Besides a malicious application which displays attackers addresses (and forwards them if the amount is too low), i can't think of what happened here.

I did everything on my iphone...I have the coinbase app where I generated the wallet address...after I copied it I then went to Kraken on safari and pasted into the withdrawal form.

What is confusing is how did the first transaction make it into coinbase? On Kraken each withdrawal shows that I sent to the same wallet adress..that being the 12ngg

Could it be 12ngg~ is one of your own addresses? Have you checked all other wallets you use?
My guess is you withdrew to your own wallet, then forwarded it to Coinbase, and forgot to do the second step when you did it again.

Note that it's always recommended to withdraw to your own wallet first, instead of sending coins from one exchange to another one. By sending it to your own wallet, you can always prove ownership of the address if it's needed later on.
The question is: do you own 12ngg~?

I think I got a hint on this.
Because the transactions and your statement can be linked in a "scenario".

But before that, just a list of possibilities:
  • Those SegWit addresses (inputs from [f1c52f3edd8]&[afc314f97a] tx) belong to Kraken (https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/00001012b1848923/addresses) which are the two withdrawals that you've made.
  • After 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj received the first transaction (0.09481172 BTC) you/he sent it immediately to 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE) which belongs to your Coinbase account that surely reflects as balance.
  • Now that you're convinced that it is "legit" you've sent the actual amount that you want to move to coinbase (0.62574 BTC) to 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj again.

The real question is: where did you get this address: 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj)?

BTW, Only OLD Coinbase addresses starts with "1"

OP has mentioned that he got that address from his coinbase mobile app (on his iphone).

I am still waiting for the answer whether he is using the official ios app from coinbase.

Either it is a malicious application or OP did use a intermediary wallet. That's all i can think of.

BTW, Only OLD Coinbase addresses starts with "1"

Appreciate the help...the address was generated from coinbase app...I have no other answer as to where is came from. How can I get my funds?

OP has mentioned that he got that address from his coinbase mobile app (on his iphone).

I am still waiting for the answer whether he is using the official ios app from coinbase.

Either it is a malicious application or OP did use a intermediary wallet. That's all i can think of.

BOB I did use the official app...what is confusing is how one transaction makes it into my coinbase wallet and the second transaction did not. I am royally screwed if I can't figure this out...greatly appreciate your help

Could it be a coinbase error with the wallet address they provided

Does that app's addresses list reflects the address of your coinbase account?
Or is it the official app: Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinbase.android&hl=en) / IOS (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coinbase-buy-bitcoin-more/id886427730?mt=8)?

Unless you got the control (Private Key or the wallet where it belongs) over the address 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj, your coins were lost/stolen.

Because, it looks like the owner of that address just passed the first deposit 'cause it's a "petty steal" and to make you believe that the transaction went through without a problem, then, just left the "profitable" balance for the next "mixing".

My Two-cents here is that you're a victim of a scam/malware, or try to open your mobile app if it still have that address in the list.

This would require the coinbase app to be compromised, right?
I suspect that 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj doesn't belong to coinbase (as their CS said)

Not sure this helps, but if the address you used(12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj) was a one-time address from coinbase. Then coinbase would have the would have the private key to address (12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj), depending on their program, they should be able to sweep it again into your account.

I generated the 12ngg address sent the first transaction and without going back to coinbase to generate another wallet address for the same account I used the 12ngg...could this be the problem? The main concern is that coinbase keeps saying it isnt linked with them...when clearly the first transaction went through but was rerouted? to another address beginning 36ii5

So what I am grasping is that I am out of luck?

If my second transaction is not posted but still showing on the blockchain is there anyway to access it?

On my kraken account both withdrawals were indeed sent to this address:
    12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj

Transaction #1 was then sent to
36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE....which is linked to coinbase but was not the wallet that the official app generated

Transaction #2 still sits in limbo..any ideas or thoughts on what I need to tell or ask coinbase? Also is there anyway to access these funds or use (CPFP) or (RBF) Methods

Can Kraken cancel or pull back the transaction at this point?

Any and all of your help is much appreciated!

Kraken says the transaction was successful so they cannot do anything on there end...Coinbase says that the wallet address is not linked to my coinbase account...however this is not true as transaction #1 for $600 roughly went into my coinbase wallet...transaction #2 is still sitting on the block chain and is roughly $4,000 which is a lot for me.
then you need to address this to coinbase support
make sure you pointed out you are receiving the 2nd payment on the same (previous) receiving address
I suspect this is a 2-payment-in-1-txid issue, which sometime the 2nd not get picked up by the system
by any chance you are willing to tell us corresponding address and both transaction ids?

How would I go about fixing if it is indeed a 2-payment-in-1-txid issue?

I copied the address from coinbase and pasted into my kraken withdraw...then sent again 15min later without going into coinbase and generating a new wallet address...sometimes coinbase gives you the same wallet address when transactions are close together

Ok, after take a look to the addy ( https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj ) we can discard:

    1.- Addy typo.
2.- Two deposits on the same transaction.

I don't have much experience with coinbase, but some exchangers change your depo addy after make a depo, you can verify if this is the scenario on the deposit tab in coin base.

The step to fix it, is to send a mail to coinbase support, and give them all the info you show us. Should be something like:

    Hello support

10 days ago i make a depo of 0.094 btc to my deposit addy, 10 minutes later i make another depo of 0.62574.  The problem is i only receive the first one in my coinbase account but the second one doesn't show in my balance, i verify the blockchain and both transactions has been confirmed: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj

Hope you can help me to fix this issue and recover my money, thanks.

Thanks for your input...only problem is that my coinbase account wallet address history only shows 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE this address. After I sent the transactions to 12ngg wallet address the first transaction was immediately sent to 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE and entered into my account at coinbase...second transaction was not ever put into coinbase

This looks like the only way to get it fixed, the address starting with 36ii5 is your address , then it was probably like a said before that it was a one time address. And they should be able to fix it manually. Do what seioncorporation said.

Any possibility that this is a new variant of the clipboard virus that remembers the original address that it is replacing... Waits for the transaction to be created and if the value is below a certain value it fowards the payment to the original address to try and avoid detection?

I'm thinking this isn't likely, as the OP claims they did all this on an iPhone... And I am not aware of any current iOS clipboard malware.

Very strange that the Coinbase app would give a 1-type address... They were supposed to be switching to P2WPKH-P2SH SegWit addresses.

@OP, what happens if you got the Coinbase app and try to get a deposit address now? What sort of address does it generate? "1xxxx" or "3xxxx"? ???

Not sure this helps, but if the address you used(12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj) was a one-time address from coinbase. Then coinbase would have the would have the private key to address (12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj), depending on their program, they should be able to sweep it again into your account.
Coinbase does change its addresses in every deposit "request" but all of the old addresses were still connected to your account.
Read this: Why did my wallet address change? (https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2276500-why-did-my-wallet-address-change-)

I'll be honest with you, my "hint" was you might be a victim of a malware or a scam as my previous reply (2nd page (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4982944.msg44975584#msg44975584)) stated.

The transaction was made last August9 but check if either of your iPhone or PC is infected with a malware like HCP mentioned.
    • 1. In your iPhone, copy an address from your Coinbase app, remember at least the 1st and last 3 digits, then paste it in any text box like Messages or Searchbox.
    • If the pasted add is the same, you're not infected with a clipboard hijacking virus/malware or it's not active ATM.
    • 2. In your PC, do the same, copy an address from coinbase and paste in in a text file.
    • If any of it changed, that must be the cause of this.

That's to clarify the scenario, not to recover your funds.

Paying someone doesn't help (and don't believe it when you receive such an offer by PM!). Without the private key, you can't access the funds.
Your best chance would be to figure out where the 12ngg~ address came from, and how it forwarded your funds. Whatever happened is the key to your funds, but at this point I think it's very unlikely for you to recover it.

I wouldn't say the money is gone yet, it is still on the block chain in the same address you sent it to.
You just have to figure out who has the key, you or coinbase.
If it leaves that address, then you could say it's gone.

Appreciate the optimism. I only operate with Kraken and Coinbase, I don’t know that I have a way of figuring out where 12ngg came from as I do believe it was coinbase. How else would deposit #1 find its way into my coinbase account? Thinking back to that day I did call coinbase a few hours after the second transaction hadn’t posted...the person who answered the phone had mentioned there was an issue with bitcoin that day not sure if it was coinbase related or not. My only thought is that the coinbase app gave me the 12ngg somehow and I used it...but then where does 36ii come from!? Has anyone ever seen what happened in my transaction? Where I send to one address and then it ends up going to a second address?

The two transactions were 15min apart and I did not go into my app and regenerate a new wallet address, I simply pasted the previous (12ngg) and sent deposit #2 which did not get picked up and sent to 36ii

What is a private key? And how does one obtain it!?

How else would deposit #1 find its way into my coinbase account?
Still didn't get it after all of our previous replies?
Okay, I'll break it down in a list:

    • First open a blockexplorer where 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj's history was listed: here Open in a new Tab (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj)
    • Secondly, from the bottom of the page, transaction afc314f97ab2e02076c4ceba0c2d8493b840b23570b97b2a60fcf5cf57fca9ae is your 1st tx which have inputs from Kraken's addresses to different outputs including 0.09481172 BTC to 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj.
But this tx wasn't credited by coinbase since it isn't their address.
    • Next, transaction 17fa98a77b8ce4dc91bd9569f4663687922344f223b9979dbb54a31996b11beb the 0.094BTC was quickly sent by the user or malware program to 36ii5gNkZw2vAZ8TVk9dYXtVVbJxk68hiE which belongs to your coinbase account (we can confirm this by looking at the image you've provided)
And this is why the first transaction made it through your coinbase account.

The Second transaction's funds however, is still being held by 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj: f1c52f3edd8fcb8277013b7654bcba48a1c3559bddd6ff305a95491210d6fde0 (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/f1c52f3edd8fcb8277013b7654bcba48a1c3559bddd6ff305a95491210d6fde0)

ok, make sense then, if you say the others start with 1, just get a list of all the addresses used in the other 2 accounts and look for this 12ngg3CB9VDvkbFDx7JKY92i9kYgDmiEaj address.

this is just my little tx forensic, may or may not be correct :P
as you can see above, both transactions TX1A & TX1B was confirmed in a single block 535949
TX1B is moving an unconfirmed utxo (at that time) and using a default txfee of 10k satoshi
it's unlikey done by coinbase (like TX1C), or any exchange or online wallet
exchanges would wait for at least 1 confirmation before moving fund

So we can eliminate there possibility of malware, can you please try the following:

    - open coinbase wallet
    - get deposit address like you did previously
    - copy/paste that address into another app (like email or browser or notepad)

Is that address pasted identical? Or is it changed?

And there is no possibility that you have confused the deposit address from coinbase with a 'wallet' address from coinbase ?
Did you ever use an 'online wallet' (from coinbase) ?

Can you tell us which version of the coinbase app you are using on your mobile ?

I have not upgraded the wallet at all..I went through every account on coinbase I have and the 12ngg does not appear in anything. Only the 36ii address appears...

I also had a third transaction that same day...this transaction occurred 2 hours earlier

The address that shows in my Kraken account as where the money was sent is the following...
    1AFqDhC98SnqtTYoRG68SLu2qNCnUdfeNh

Now this 1AF is also not associated with my coinbase account...the address below is what is associated with this deposit into coinbase...

    0.06001968 BTC to
    33ppd1SMCU63yQCKyhoX8ZVf1ZQX67VS8H (spent)

does this transaction look normal? This also went into my account no problem!

Could something be up on Kraken end?

I only used the wallet addresses that were created inside the app...

I believe I stumbled upon the answer in my Kraken account...

You can save wallet addresses when you withdraw money...I found the 12ngg address. Luckily I named each withdrawal address when I processed them through Kraken...this address is linked with a bitcoin atm I have used to withdraw in the past. Essentially I selected this on accident...the atn company has the private key correct? They were not expecting the money to be sent to them, why it is still sitting on the chain

Would it be as simple contacting them and having it sent back to me? or how would this process work?

I have sent funds to this atm before from both Kraken and Coinbase only confusing part is how did the transaction #1 find its way into my coinbase account if this address is linked with a third party ATM.

Yes, the ATM provider in this case has the private key to this address.

You might try to contact them, but if this address isn't actively a deposit address for your account, they probably won't do much for you.

It would be still worth contacting them.

This seems really weird. There is no practical reason for the atm provider to forward your payment to your coinbase account..

Would you think they would release the private key to me? So are these funds sitting in that wallet address or still on the block chain?

If they want to help me are they capable of sending funds back? Or how would they help me in this case

Would you think they would release the private key to me?

    I doubt so.
They'll probably take the free money and won't release any private keys to you.

But it still would be worth a try. They might be refunding it (for a fee).

So are these funds sitting in that wallet address or still on the block chain?

Bitcoins are ALWAYS 'on the blockchain'. They are NEVER 'inside' of a wallet or 'in' an address.
The blockchain is the public ledger. The BTC's are assigned to an address.

And in order to use these UTXO's you'll need to have the corresponding private key to create a (valid) signed transaction.

Anyone with access to a private key, has access to all UTXO's associated to the addresses derived by this private key.

If they want to help me are they capable of sending funds back? Or how would they help me in this case

    Yes.
If they want to help you, they are simply going to send the funds back. But i woulnd't expect them to do that.

Did you already find out why the first transaction got forwarded to coinbase ? This still seems to be somehow inconsistent because it doesn't make sense.

if you have used it to withdraw in the past, then it would show on the blockchain
but there are only two incoming transactions on that address and both was made on Aug 9th
also if you used 2 addresses from ATM that forward to 2 different coinbase addresses,
then you should be consciously linking the addresses, do you remember doing them?
coinbase addresses 33ppd... 36ii5... 3BnLn... was created in the same day with those transactions
they were done on August 9th, were you also using the ATM that day?

I also had a third transaction that same day...this transaction occurred 2 hours earlier

so you have 3 withdrawals to 1xxx addresses which get forwarded to your 3xxx coinbase addresses
one thing for sure it worked only for the first tx on each address and ignore the second
are you sure those addresses related to the ATM, I think they are something else
btw what is the purpose of that ATM? it accepts btc and send out btc? (less 10k sats txfee)

Probably not in that case, but I don't think that they would just keep your money either.
They are in the business to grow their operation, I don't think they want the liability of keeping your money if you can show that it is a mistake was honestly made.

Lot going on here...the 12ngg does belong to the bitcoin atm. I had sent money to it before as a cash withdrawal. I have no idea how transaction #1 for $600 roughly was forwarded to my coinbase account...although I have used coinbase to withdraw to this coinbase atm as well. Transaction #2 is for sure stuck on the chain and I talked with the bitcoin atm, the 12ngg does belong to them and they are working on a solution today to get me my money. I assume as I sent to this address on accident that they were not looking for funds so they did not do anything with them

There's so many weird things going on here, but it would be crazy luck if you get it back!

The main question I have is: how did the ATM have your Coinbase address? Even if you did withdraw from Coinbase, that doesn't mean the funds came from your own address (because Coinbase is an exchange, not a wallet).

I think Coinbase does have a wallet.

Edit-- misunderstood Coinbase wallet, just an app they hold the keys.

The main question I have is: how did the ATM have your Coinbase address?

    That one bothers me too.

I don't see a logical explanation (1) how the ATM could aquire YOUR deposit address from coinbase and
    (2) why would the ATM forward a payment to another address not in their control. Especially since ATM's either receive funds and withdraw cash or vice versa.

Something smells fishy here. This doesn't make sense  ???
