A lot of crypto fans and investors are now worried about continuous bearish trend for Bitcoin price and other cryptocurrencies this year 2018. And now beginning to doubt  their initial commitment to the Bitcoin ecospace. A lot of people have forgetting the core idea behind the invention of Bitcoin. Most of us have forgetting that Bitcoin was created to challenge the established FIAT system where money can be printed without control and no regards for inflation.

This is entirely not the fault of most of us but it is because of the Bull run Bitcoin has enjoyed so far especially in 2017 where price reaches as high as $20,000. We all got greedy and forgot about the initial ideals behind bitcoin. We all want to cash in the same Fiat currency bitcoin is trying to challenge. This in my opinion is one of the reason why bitcoin price fell this year. We do not fully trust the crypto space yet.

Bitcoin is here to stay and will remain dominant for the future and I still consider it as the most secured investment in this digital age after gold. Below are some of the reasons why I think Bitcoin is a safe investment

1. Bitcoin has already achieved mass adoption though this is subjective . A lot people will now accept bitcoin payment without worrying about how to exchange it.
2. Bitcoin is limited in supply , only 21 Million Bitcoin can ever be created. Out of which 4 million is already lost making it 17 Million.
3. Bitcoin remains dominant in the coinmarketcap with 55% of the entire marketcap
4. Bitcoin current price is still higher than what it is this same time last year

Because bitcoin is the coin with greatest price. Bitcoin is the father of all the coins. Bitcoin went through many tough challenges to survive up to now. There are many people who invest in bitcoin. The bitcoin market is always stable.

Bitcoin investment is indeed the safest investment but i don't think bitcoin is limited. As days go by, new bitcoins are mined. The number of bitcoins which were available in 2017 is not the same as the number of bitcoins available now. One of reasons for  reduction in the market price of bitcoin is due to increase in the number of bitcoin circulating.

I wouldn't say that it's the safest investment available in the short term, but I think that it's probably one of the most viable long term store of values that are currently being undervalued.

If you look at the characteristics of bitcoin, you actually see a lot of resemblance with another safe haven asset class which has been recognised traditionally, which is precious metals, especially in gold and silver which has been used as currency for centuries.

The defining aspects that make both precious metals and bitcoin good long term store of values, and thus I guess "safe investments" would be the fact that it is decentralised in terms of its supply as well as the hard limit on the supply.

Bitcoin holds an edge in terms of the actual profitability in the long run compared to gold, which has already been used for centuries, though. bitcoin is here to stay, it has a lot of potential and it will rise up and be probably worth a lot more than $1 million,... and a lot more... but none of these make it "the safest investment"! it is still risky and you should remember to invest what you can afford to lose in bitcoin. in fact one of the problems that we faced last year and we are seeing the consequences of today is the same way of thinking where people started FOMO buying bitcoin because they though the moon is on the way!

Bitcoin investments is full of risks due to the price is really unpredictable in which it did not guarantee the investors to a sure profit and also it was all over the news about scam projects that are using Bitcoin platform in which its make people to scared to invest. I consider btc is one of the safest investment if only people had bought btc during the bear market way lesser than the current rice value and should have consider long term investment to be able to achieve the goal in gaining promising profit. BTC has proven it's worth since last Q4 of 2017 wherein there is no need to doubt it's capability and it will surely give good return of investment.

You have a good point about how good or safe to invest in bitcoin. But for me you can not easily contended about your investment in bitcoin because so many reason why you bitcoin is not safe. The price of the bitcoin is not stable you investment can be go down or go up. Then your bitcoin can be stole if you don't know how to secure or keep it. But investing in bitcoin is great because your invest can be double , triple or etc.

Yes earlier,we would have to convince people as well as traders for making them to accept bitcoin payments.But now bitcoin is universally known.So no such issues.

Bitcoin is the father of all coins, yes that is right. I cannot say that it will be the safest because if you invest in a high price then for sure you will lose your money or capital if bitcoin price will drop, but the value of bitcoin is still there, for example, you buy .01 BTC then in dollar price it is $65, then after a couple of days or a month your money would just remain $50, so you already lose $15 right? but the BTC amount which is .01 BTC is still there. It depends on you if you still want to keep it and wait for the right time to sell or not. Just know when to invest so you will not lose some of your money.

With no intention to discriminate, for a person with a newbie account, you made a lot of sense there.

And i have always pointed out how it feels so sad that many of us had forgotten the innate purpose of bitcoin. And as you said, it is quite understandable after last year's all time high. And truly, greed played a mighty role here. After 2017's 20K phenomenal breakthrough, it feels that 6K is a heart breaker, when in fact, it is not.

I just do hope that people start treating bitcoin again as a system of payment and let the possibility of investment follow suit as we see more global adoption.

There are no safe investment in the world for me.. Actually it would not be an investment if you don't have the risks. I invested in bitcoin too and made quite fortune of it in 2017 but today you can not know anything for sure. The bitcoins market cap going down.. That was %58 a month ago now it came to %51 and still falling. So keep away with big investments..

to be fair OP is not saying bitcoin is a "safe" investment. he is saying it is the "safest". although that can be not true depending on what group you are comparing bitcoin to but generally it is safer than a lot of things.

safe here must be in a sense, safe in storage. and bitcoin is quite safe so far, and for price issues, bitcoin is volatile and everyone knows that. lately the question is the wallet security issue. especially when several exchangers had lost a lot, and also some people also claimed to have been stolen.

In actual fact, Bitcoin is a high risk investment and people should never invest more than what they are willing to lose. I think the consensus among all those who have basic understanding of bitcoin is that it is not the safest investment although it has a lot of potential. and as for the risks, the risk of "competition dethroning" is zero because what you call competition either is a shitcoin that is only in the news because it was pumped or if it is a good project it still suffers from the same flaws as bitcoin does and in some cases it even has more flaws.

Bitcoin might be safe in some technical sense because technology is really good secured.

In other words, bitcoin has been trusted by many peoples. Most peoples don't trust new coins, they will stick to bitcoin and it makes the bitcoin value more stable than other coins.

I have one good reason. I am sure that in the future the number of holders will increase, thereby reducing the number of free coins in the market. The increase will occur for several reasons:
1) There are a lot of people in the world who take bribes and keep their moneys at home under the floor or put them offshore, which is not easy. And what is the most convenient and safe way to store dirty money?
2) Over time, the number of people who invest their savings in bitcoin will increase. yes that is because altcoin has a pair on BTC in every exchange, so bitcoin becomes the king of all, but there are still many who always compare BTC Vs ETH, even though it is very contrary in my opinion, because if there is no bitcoin then there won't be Ethereum or other altcoins, I invested in bitcoin because I thought it would be safe until now I am still safe to hold my bitcoin

I don't agree that Bitcoin is the safest to invest now a days as we observed how volatile crypto market is. Imagine from it's all time high of almost 20k$ now it's just 6.6k$ how could you say it would be the safest if it's price downvto almost 1/3 only if it's all time high?. Bitcoin investment is for risk taker with patience to hold for long term.

You cannot blame other people who cashout in fiat last year when it was in all time high value. If you know how to read the chart you already know that there is a decline in price  to happen.
