Cryptocurrency for 2018 is not really good. The market price for bitcoin and other crypto in the market are free falling and does not play a major market price increase since the highest peak market price for bitcoin hit on last december 2017. Thus, I am looking for some reason on this why this happen to cryptocurrency market and the real situation for cryptocurrency.

Basing on the graph it seems that market price for bitcoin stabilizes and eventually fall. The investors were withdrawing their investments on bitcoin for a certain reason and that is the cryptocurrency regulations. The blog from advisor.lk (http://blog.advisor.lk/wp/2018/04/12/crypto-currencies-what-is-the-current-situation/) which has been posted by their staff writer stated that the current state of the cryptocurrency is not so good for the current owners as the currencies free falling since January 2018. , The blog stating the multiple reason for this and thus reasons for the decreasing trend and the major factor considered to be the government regulations on the cryptocurrencies, due to the various regulations imposed by the Chinese, Japanese and Korean and other governments resulted in major steep fall of cryptocurrencies.

The blog were talking about also with the two reasons for the government regulations, one is cryptocurrencies lack intrinsic value and governments view private currencies as a threat to their sovereignty.

Probably we could not expect bull run for crypto in the year 2018. We should not hope and expect for it to happen.

You can see it as not good because it has fallen roughly from its all time high, but if you think creatively, the price of Bitcoin is still greater than the past price of it for the last 3 years.

That's basically how I view it.  I got into bitcoin in 2015 or so, and I clearly recall it falling below $200 following some news about major retailers beginning to accept it (I think it was mainly Overstock.com).  And then after that it stalled for months around $420 before finally rising, eventually hitting $20k. 

Bitcoin isn't in "free fall" by any means.  True, it did crash once it hit $20k but right now the price isn't anywhere near where it was when I started buying it.

As for the rationale of government regulations in China, Japan, and Korea causing the market to do what it's doing, I wouldn't argue that this couldn't have an effect.  However, even though those 3 countries are huge in the bitcoin world, they're only 3 countries out of over 200 in the world.  I'm always skeptical when news articles try to explain market movements, because often the writers are grasping at straws.  Sometimes the market moves the way it does without any clear reason

What I think is that the market has stalled because there hasn't been much in the way of good news lately.  If the US gov't approved the bitcoin ETF, I think that would have had a dramatic effect on price, but as of now that's still in limbo.  But ultimately I'm not unhappy with bitcoin being in the $6-7000 range. 

Downfall of the price of crypto / bitcoin not just depends upon the negative sentiments.  But also greed of the people.  I think people were so greedy that they wanted to become rich overnight.  They were buying at every new heights.  Big speculators / whales when succeeded in their intention earning and earned a lot, they pulled their presence away from the market.  So market fell on the grounds.  And most of the new entrants to the market; burnt their fingers.  May be the price goes and touches the old levels; but the time can not be declared that how much months it will take.  

Current situation is not for cryptocurrency from 2018 starting itself there is no significant growth in bitcoin. Again and again the price is falling and it makes bitcoin holders panic.

Regulations have nothing to do with the current market. Back in the days we have had a bear market very similar to the one we're going through right now, and regulations weren't even a thing for the most part. That also goes up for those who think the futures are the reason the price has been tanking, they aren't because in the same way, we didn't have these futures either back then.

People need to acknowledge, and more importantly, accept that this market cycles through its phases much faster than regular markets, and that even Bitcoin has to deal with bear markets and periods of very low demand. Bitcoin isn't a moon rocket, and while it may sound odd, a lot people really think it is.

Intrinsic value...... The never ending debate people won't ever agree on with how much of a personal thingy it is.

As far as private currencies go, they will be outlawed within the next couple of years. Japan is one of the first examples of that.

I know bitcoin is no less than 1 year, and the price reduction of $ 20k to date has left a tremendous sense of disappointment. there is nothing I can do except wait for the bitcoin price to recover.

There is nothing to panic or get worried of. If you know crypto's nature, none will get frustrated seeing current situations. Just compared the first three quarters' growth trend with each year gone in the past. You will be surprised to see 2018's value being stable not falling back below a certain threshold. And this is what we need. Such growth trend will certainly make this much stronger down the line. Instead of having a quick pump and dump, its good to have a stable growth with values not falling below a certain level. Lets use this situation to buy coins instead.

If there is no sign of bull run in 2018 then you have some more time to buy the crypto currencies at cheaper prices,just make the positive thinking about the cryptos and it will leads to the bull run in the near future.I am also understand that there is no sign here so it is better to make backup plans before or now if there is some further loss.

The year 2018 has actually had it very rough in cryptocurrency. But there is still hope. Maybe the remaining 3 months can make some difference.

If you look at other markets particularly the stock exchanges of countries and the foreign exchange or even the commodities market you will see that the prices are really down so this is not only happening in the cryptocurrency market, we might even call this a minor recession compared to what we have experienced way back 2008. But like any market cycle this will come to an end as this is just timing partnered with some major world events which will all pass in time, we just have to be patient for the next bull market to come.

I think the real reason why BTC prices fall is to manipulate the value of Bitcoin, since this greatly influenced the trust in Bitcoin.

Indeed, price reduction has been a hot talk for everyone, I strongly agree that the decline applies to the market that is happening now, maybe it is the character of the market that there can be an increase or decrease, there really is nothing to worry about. under conditions of legality still have not found a turning point for cryptocurrency after the hype at the end of 2017, which I believe that the market will return well over time, whatever happens Bitcoin has achieved good after a few years of course with its value soaring, most people lose are those who entered this year.

What we are seeing now is a normal phenomenon due to the rapid growth of bitcoin in 2017. The trend can not be constantly upward, especially with such growth rates. in 2017, bitcoin has grown almost 20 times and now it is logical that there is a protracted correction. In 2013-2014, bitcoin fell in price for almost 2 years, but this did not prevent it from making a breakthrough to $ 20,000 in 2017.
Most likely, the price should still adjust and in 2019 we will observe further growth of the first cryptocurrency.
Talk about the bigger picture.. the price still goes up, of course if you went into the market at the peak for you all bad, but many are watching bitcoin from 2010 and later, and for them the market is positive.

If you compare the current situation,the price is seems to be not increased. But compared the price of bitcoin overall this year . It's just show,the fluctuations in the price of bitcoin.And many new entry of trading leads to some panic selling.This some of the panic selling caused the price fluctuations often in cryptocurrency.My suggestion for new investor is ,have to hold your valuable bitcoin.

Year-to-year bitcoin is still up. So I don't understand why people are still bitching around about the current price of bitcoin. Well we do reach $19k last year but its fairly to say that it was already bubbled. For this year though, yes regulations are all over but I don't think that its one of the major reasons for the dramatic fall.

For me investors are really getting smarter this year and doesn't want to FOMO and those who FOMO last year specially newbies have lost huge amount already and not willing to take the risk. With that said, let not hope for a bull run but instead should look to take advantage of the bearish trend/dips by buying more coins and wait what 2019 can offer to us.

You've hit the hammer right on the head. Those who got into crypto quite early, I mean those who bought Bitcoin around 2015 or earlier would not be bothered the current prices now, as they're still in very good profits. However, the current situation with regards to the prices is just a reflection of investors awareness and carefulness and like you've already pointed out, they're now smarter, some of them are still hodling from $20k they bought last year. Those who didn't FOMO are being very careful not to be victims too.

I also believe that people are not yet ready for the growth of cryptocurrencies. the whole year has passed in anticipation of growth, and many are still not disappointed in the cryptocurrency, but the growth will occur only at the moment of disappointment

Right, the price is still high even from the start of 2017. So for my own point of view, it is better to keep calm and wait for another bull run.

is quite healthy. The way i look at it is when I entered the crypto scene

I think the last drop was without reason, because of cryptocurrency is not based on anything, just supply and demand can influence the price. Maybe we will see a more effective price at the end of the year.

But BTC is far away from mass adoption so the only question is when the third big bull run will be?
I think it will not be before 2019 or 2020 but if you are a pessimist you also can say that it never happens.

What will be the third wave of mass adoption? I think payment channels and banking service.
Also POS acceptance. But since all BTC Cards got banned early 2018, because VISA and Mastercard are the monopolies ruling world wide transactions, mass adoption stopped.
We need a decentralized Banking service and payment channels for more tx.

It was still in good shape though even if it looks like it's going in a downward hill but it still continue to maintain it's line. Compared to previous prices we are still in a good shape though and the only reason that people might think that they already lost is because they bought bitcoin at the highest price but if they bought it before like when the price was at $200 they could be rich today.

In fact, it is not just good, things just keeps getting better and better as we move in from one year to the next. We all know how it all started back then and even the value.

In fact, we do not need to go that far, as we can pretty much just stick with the price at the beginning of last year and what some people are considering bottom now with this recent bounce we just had and it just came to mind like we have not even seen anything yet, because at this point in time, we are like this and we are not even close to mainstream adoption yet, and then I imagine what that would be like. Cryptocurrency situation now 2018 is very critical.Its like we don't have the hope we long for crypto.This is the only hope l know to experience the prosperous life.lm came from a poor family so l want also my children to experience the abundance life.l have still faith that this coming future crypto will survive to meet a cashless society.That two years from now we will live in a cashless society,a progressive world.

Probably maybe the last bull run will be the bull run that would erupt from mainstream adoption. Take a look actually at the development going on in the space at the moment, the way banks and institutions are beginning to want to be a part of the crypto space all of a sudden and with some other developments as well, and I wake up every day knowing and having that gut feelings that mainstream adoption is knocking on the door already gradually and with scaling issue becoming a thing of the past, just watch and see. Actually, I haven’t known enough the change or the biggest fall bitcoin price all this time, I came to this place and start invested exactly last year and at the previous years I haven’t known yet decreased bitcoin price, does more than this years or doesn't more this year. Logically, yep I know bitcoin price free falling from $20.000 to $6600 at this time, and it does make some investor worrying bitcoin won’t have a value.   

But this was undeniable also that many investors out there who still expect the price of bitcoin increased back to $ 20,000 or even more exceed it. I just comes to mind, maybe a lot of investors, especially newbie investors who expect bitcoin prices having a bull run cause of the many predictions made by experts and said the price of bitcoin will soar, so that when the price declined  like this year for investors who trust some experts said to make them lose control and spreading negative issues about cryptocurrency.

The price of the crypto currencies are not falling, it hasn't fall for a long time now. It has been around these levels for the past 4-5 months now, why do people keep think that we are in a bear market still shocks me to this day.

If we were in a bear market the price should have gone down, when was the last time bitcoin lost any value in the recent 4-5 months? We have seen 5.8k and we have never seen neither that nor anything lower ever again. If a price goes down to a point and doesn't go down any more for 5 months thats not bear market. Hence there is no problem with bitcoin right now, price is fine and the crypto world is fine.

I believe that 2018 is a turbulent year for BTC. The sudden increase in sales prices this year (January) surprised many people. I believe this is a stepping stone for the development of electronic money. All you need is patience and expectation that is the key to success in the field of electronic money.

We don’t know about the coming situation of the market and nobody can say when will third bull run will start but the current situation of the overall crypto market is very miserable and in losing condition, especially the current year.

2018 I think being a bad bitcoin trip, too much bad news with bitcoin makes them doubt about bitcoin, the negative thinking about bitcoin makes them panic and sell low, so those who panic sell greatly contribute to the market decline. the current crypto situation is not very good. Market prices dropped dramatically, leaving many people leaving Crypto. this situation is very difficult to invest to get a lot of profits.

compare to the price of bitcoin last year. 2018 is a steadily $6k and nearly $7k last week for about 1hr then it drop again. Many people get panic for the free fall, i think number one cause is it is not yet adopted and receives negative views online and in mainstream media. I think that is the common virtue we should always practice, being patient. There are a lot of times that the prices of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are dumping and in a certain time, it is pumping and gave us good profits.

From my experiences, there are patterns and it is the same to other cryptocurrency investors. When the price dumps, a lot of people are being disappointed to the bright red price changes that is happening but we all know that it is not always red, it also turns green. Even though it is not continuously turning green, we all know that it will be getting there just like the past years.

It is right that most of the people bought bitcoin for higher price but it is also a fact that the early investors made thousands of dollars from that high price. 2018 is totally different from the predictions of the people and still there is no sign of growth in the price. Till the end of the year nobody is hopeful for the price. I can say that thousands of investors lost their money and now they are disappointed from bitcoin.

There are still 2 months to end in 2018, so investors can still place confidence in the cryptocurrency market. I put a lot of trust in this market and I think it will bounce back in the future. There is more and more good information on the cryptocurrency market so I hope everything will be better.

I cannot deny that for a couple of months this years from January up to the present bitcoin was sharply decreased for almost 60% average in the market, and even majority of the altcoins too are little by little was also dumped its price value together with bitcoin as well, where most of the community got worried on the situation happened. And now we are close to end of 2018 and yet bull run is not yet happening while most of us here are waiting for it to be happen.

Delisting all kinds of garbage is welcome. But it is unlikely to at least somehow affect coins with a cap of several tens of millions of dollars or more and a daily trading volume of at least hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It will be very good we understand how this market work and play along with it.  In 2017, from January we were having good news on a daily bases and this news and fundamentals issues has great impact on the market.  However,  this year started with banning and hacking news and this also has affected the market on a nagetive ways.  I believe that 2019 should be when we should expect positive news from the market and another bull run will commence then!

Dude everybody says that and why do people say that? people are making comparisons with last year, last year we saw $ 1,000 becoming $ 20,000, and then we saw $ 20,000 becoming $ 6,000, so people started to think it would always be like that, the price would go back to 20,000 $, but they forget that this depends on the demand and it can be the case that we never see the price of $ 20,000 again. we should not look to the past, but we should look to the future, we should look at adoption and the evolution of regulations


if we talk about this year, there are still ETFs that can make us see $ 10,000 again, in the long term we have the Bakkt

Let's hope and pray 2019 will be much better for crypto than 2018. It was a hard year and we all deserve to get the reward finally!

In short and in reality, the current situation if the cryptocurrency world isn't a smiling one. I see from afar that most people that are still active are those who are still in the trading business fully; getting some profits from online trading rates and the likes.

there are many factors that influence the price of Cryptocurrency in the market and this factor is also included factor, early January 2018 it was a disaster for all crypto prices in the market, every day the transaction volume decreases, in my opinion no one knows the price of All Crypto in the final year 2018, I will still buy crypto and keep it hodl, let the time answer it.

this should not be the worst value for bitcoin and also the crypto market. because 3 years even 5 years before the price of bitcoin and other crypto was not as high as this. and then in a few years later they can go up. that means there is still a big chance for bitcoin to go back up.

Maybe we cannot expect the bull run in this year but we still have the next year and the future and I think people can wait until the price is back to the highest price. I think the development of krypto is now also increasing, because seeing the development of bitcoin prices is also starting to stabilize, so I hope that at the end of the year the price of krypto will soon recover.

It is not even the worst value at all. People tend to say whatever they simply want to say just because they have some level of thinking with which they are looking for ways to get rich fast and does not even understand how a market works in most cases.

if at the end of this year I think it's very difficult for crypto to recover, it might take quite a long time or maybe next year to recover. we can only hold and wait until the price returns to normal and the market is stable so that we can benefit.

Those who got into crypto earlier do not sse this as a major shock, but if you joined just last yesr then you'd be really shocked. I think somehow the market is about stabilizing sonwe should hope for the good. The current bitcoin price is still higher than the price of many years ago. Because people are too expected in Bitcoin so prices rise too high.

I think crypto is doing perfectly fine if we see from the yearly chart we can see that bitcoin price going higher from yaerbto year before the hype, there are some reasons that make crypto price keep on declining, one of the reason is the legality, after a huge rising in 2017 many countries give a warning about the crypto investment is a dangerous investment, and the economic expert also mention that bitcoin is a bubble that ready to burst, it create fears among the investors and bitcoin price is stagnant until now

Disaster ? There is nothing that would go up that would not come down at some point in a market scenario and I thought by now people should have gotten used to that as a fact and not just some mere saying.

Nevertheless, I would not consider it a disaster as corrections are very normal and it is something we will always get to see in the market and most especially in this case where market is driven by speculations. It is a short term thing anyway and only few people will understand that. Also, it should be understood that we are still in an uptrend if we really want to be comparing early last year's value to what we are classifying as a bottom now.

Yes, that's right, for now the government in my country does not recommend investing in Cryptocurrency because of fears of a big bubble that will harm new investors. But I see the price of bitcoin is not always decreasing for the time being, instead the price movements are stable and prices seem to be increasing.

What we always wanted doesn't specifically happens, because currently we don't see any big movement for months. When the market was pumping, most of those newly engaged in crypto's feels like they forgot the bounce. This is why some are loosing their investment and aiming to at least get the break even. Well, investing BTC for a long term could be one of the many options to take.

So, maybe there is tendency that the price this year will steady on being fall and there is no pump? Well, I believe that soon it will go up again there will big possibilities for that.

To be honest, now I tend to think there will be no pikes similar to late 2017 in the near future. Shock of bitcoin novelty is off now, and it was the major factor influencing its price. Considering this, I believe that the price will not rise (or fall, for that matter) significantly. May be we shall get ready to accept the situation when the price is around 6k USD and learn how to operate in this environment in the best possible way. It is pessimistic, I admit, but in my expectations I prefer to be on the safe side.

Bearish was still happened in the market pal, most holders now are waiting for the bull run but the thing is no one knows when will be start or begin. Its kind of a feeling of sad and frustrating but we must stay firm on what we had started to belief in the altcoins we hold in term, sooner or later it be explode and bounce again.

It's not pessimistic, it's being logical and realistic. There's no way Bitcoin could make a run within this year. In fact, I'm still waiting for the day when Bitcoin dropping below $6000 and I think that scenario is more likely than a bull run this year.

No worries about this though, it's just a cycle all over again. Pretty sure we'll have another bull run by 2022 when halving occured again.

In the current year, we have been noticing many different values of Bitcoin and the price movement which is sometimes stable and sometimes not. So far in the current year, we had the lowest value recorded around 5750 US dollar and most stable price between 6k and 7k dollar. The current price is still is 6k figure that is 6442 US dollar and is still a great opportunity in these favorable conditions make your future by investing here.

The worse part of 2018 was the altcoins honestly. The coins that gained attention during december that really had people get their hopes up and definitely promised a lot of good stuff has been dealing with a lot of drops in price for a 10+ month stretch now. Even bitcoin goes up and down time to time whereas ethereum only goes down, the price is what not about 200 dollars? This was a coin that worth about 1.5 thousand dollars just a year ago and here we are looking at it like how did this even happened.

It is of course not just ethereum I am talking about, that's just an example, almost every single coin has dropped insanely, when bitcoin goes down the alts go down with it and when bitcoin goes up the altcoins go down in bitcoin value because of it, there is really no way altcoins can win this fight until a huge bull comes.

Indeed, the market situation is not very good now, but I still think that by the end of the year we will see growth!

I see that the crypto position in 2018 is very concerned, compared to the price of crypto in 2017 ago.

in my opinion there is a truth that we do not really hope there will be an increase by the end of 2018, maybe this year Crypto evolved and started a new page. whereas crypro can be a good opportunity with its blockchain that can be applied in various fields, for example in the published state tax fund flow system.

Something bigger takes time to happen, nothing happens with days or with months, you will have to keep patience and hold your investment for more than one year so then you will earn good income and your investment, investors has been waiting since long and now it is time to get the fruit of their patience, I am sure 2018 will end up with huge price of bitcoin.

From what i see, the graph told me that the price of crypto currency (ie Bitcoin) was somewhat stable un the past few years. Then we see a suge volatility this year or two abd currently stopped at still high price. I think it is just the price correction from early this year. Bitcoin is still stronger than it did for the last 3 years and I'm cool with that.

Every time bitcoin tries to break the resistance, sellers are still blocking that way. Hodlers must not take profit easily, let's just wait for a strong bull run so we can enjoy a higher price at the end of 2018. The situation right now is still in a good position, but I hope to see bitcoin on its peak again.

Well in every time they have risen to higher prices and they were recorded as ATH's. So its better to re-plot the graphs according to year basis or check it over the smaller scale then what you looking at.

Yeah for few weeks bitcoin had been stable and this is a good sign that those dumpers have gone with the system. Not really, it is true that many people wanted stability in the price of bitcoin but they did not wanted the stability to be at 6000 they were looking for stability of the price at 20000 but if we take into account how we reached that price it was impossible for the price to remain stable at those levels, also there are many people that only look at bitcoin as a way to make money, so they are not looking for stability rather they are looking for huge volatility.

Agreed, the market hasn't been encouraging for the most part of the year but a turnaround is still possible even before year end. Why I said so is because, we're still awaiting major decisions that can wake the bull at any time such as the ETF approval. So don't loss hope yet, bitcoin can still perform wonders.

Same thing happened around 2013 to 2015, the price went high and dropped. Then later it started to go up a bit and in 2017 it got the bull run and price went high again.

I agree with you mate, Bitcoin's price is still greater than a dollar so I think everyone shouldn't have to worry about  how steep 2018's Bitcoin price fall. We all know the volatility of crypto market that is why we have to go with the flow and wait for the bounce back if we have Bitcoin holdings. The current situation might be the result of 2017 bitcoin bullrun and it will take many months or years before we see a recovery again. I think what kill most traders and investors this year is a herd mentality, most people go where there is the most noise, I was telling someone about crypto he did not say much but was following the price of the space, and when Ethereum move from $80 to $115, he started disturbing looking to buy, people prefer when price is movign up to get into the game and not when is going down
