Congrats on the new ANN page! Been using Bisq for nearly a year now & can't fault it.

This is the future of exchanges - the beginning of the end for scammy centralized exchanges - great work!

It's very good that someone finally created a Bisq announcement thread! The community of this decentralized exchange should increase in order to increase the volume on this exchange. It meets all the most important features for exchange, but unfortunately liquidity makes me rarely use it. I hope this thread will improve this situation!

thanks for your reply (and also for a merit), i appreciate this.
liquidity is a crucial issue and the community is working with more strategies to improve it.
great things are happening right now.

100 trades  :D

Unfortunately, this result is probably small even for a small centralized exchange :)

People need to understand and, above all, learn what decentralized exchange is.

I think that it is fear of something new and not understanding how this whole system works, that inexperienced users are afraid of DEX exchanges. Experienced users do not use them because of low liquidiy. I want to say that educating people is needed as first, to improve liquidity, and the volume will increase over time.

I have just noticed this thread. Good to see Bisq have a bitcointalk channel, and congratulations for reaching the 100 trades per day. Maybe the team need to focus more in promotion as i guess more users prefer decentralisation than centralised exchanges.
I used Bisq few times during the last months and i can confirm that the platfortm is well designed and works fine. It is one of the best actual few decentralised exchanges.

please note, the Bitcoin2020 conference, where Bisq will participate is now delayed to Q3 due to the ongoing global corona virus situation.

Great decision. Thank you for sharing this.

Do you really think it's Bisq responsability or priority !?

An ANN page for Bisq at last - great! This is well over due.

I've been using Bisq since long ago when it was previously called Bitsquare. I lost faith/trust in all centralised exchanges long ago & only used localbitcoins for trading up until when they required the dreaded KYC - that killed it for me, but as there was no other exchange that I trusted I was stuck with it. Then I discovered Bisq (or Bitsquare as it was called then) & I've been using it ever since without a hitch, as well as recommending it to anyone who asks. The amount of development going on behind the scenes on github is astounding with constant improvements being made to the platform - it seems every time I fire it up there's a new & improved update - great stuff indeed.

Swearing never to use a centralised exchange again wasn't easy, but now that Bisq are going mainstream at last with this ANN, there's no excuse for anyone to use a centralised exchange again. It might seem strange to use for the first few times to those who are used to centralised exchanges but believe me, once you get used to it you'll never use a centralised exchange again. No bots, no scams, you're in control of your coins on your machine & no KYC shit to deal with. What's not to like?

Game changer. Keep up the great work all those at Bisq.

Edit: I do have one concern - the amount of shitcoins that are finding their way onto Bisq. I know they get delisted if there's no trading, but what's the point of listing so many of them in the first place? 99% of them are worthless scams anyway.....lol

... just saw this on twitter, apparently for US Americans and Canadians USPS money orders might be one attractive way to buy bitcoin.

check out this tweet (https://twitter.com/bisq_network/status/1238228157271961600) and the discussion to get the idea behind it.

Quote
Deal alert, USD buyers.

0.0623 BTC up for sale at 0% spread.

That's 6,230,000 sats for $352.

via US Postal Money Order:
- no account signing required
- no bank suspicion risk
- no chargeback risk

If you haven't tried USPS money orders yet, they're a breath of fresh air.

FYI, USPS money order is actually the 2nd-most common form of payment on Bisq for USD

regarding the new version 1.2.8. check this tweet (https://twitter.com/bisq_network/status/1238162144178262017):
Quote
fyi -- there was an issue with bitcoin node detection in today's v1.2.8 release,
so we've recalled v1.2.8 and will release v1.2.9 soon to fix.

if you're not having any issues with v1.2.8, feel free to carry on using it.

Read that this decentralized exchange supported national fiat currencies. Could you provide me the list and does the exchange support bank transfer (i mean if i sell my crypto for fiat on there will i be able to withdraw the fiat into my bank account)?

hi, not sure what country are you from?

you can first check on the Bisq website if your fiat currency is supported:
https://bisq.network/markets/

in general, you can sell your crypto for fiat, another person on Bisq is buying from you and pays for it into your bank account, and after the money arrived you send the bitcoins.
it all depends on your bank and your country/fiat currency. many countries and banks or payment services are supported. so you may be able to receive payments.

Ok but despite the exchange is said to be decentralized, i dont feel quite easy with the part of trading with another person which may somehow have my bank information or that not how it works?

of course, your trading partner needs some bank details to send you money to your bank.
there are also other ways to receive money, maybe one of those is more suitable: https://bisq.network/faq/#supported-payment-methods
here is also a doc about this topic: https://docs.bisq.network/payment-methods

i suggest to read the FAQs and the documentation first, then maybe join the Bisq forum (https://bisq.community/) or keybase (https://keybase.io/team/bisq) channel to ask more questions, on keybase is a #support sub channel where some volunteers could answer it.

Thanks.

Hi layer1gfx, thanks for the answer. I searched through the forums but didn't find anything relating to it, I should probably join the forum & ask. Keybase won't load for me, probably due to my security settings, but I'd rather not lower them so will try the forum as I said.

Thanks anyway.

are you trying to run keybase on your PC or on your phone? i think it should be secure, it comes with end to end encryption by default and all the Bisq Devs and other contributors and community members are using it as well.
but sure, up to you, maybe search the forum first and maybe try to check on github if this has been discussed before.
i could also forward your question to keybase support and post an answer here :)

hi this is basically a decision made by the Bisq community. the listing of tokens or coins can be suggested in proposals and discussed further on keybase or github.

but right now, new asset listings are on hold while a better policy is determined. please see discussion on this proposal (https://github.com/bisq-network/proposals/issues/166) for background.

to learn more about the general process you can read the doc on the Bisq website:"How to list an asset (https://docs.bisq.network/exchange/howto/list-asset.html)"

you could try:

Code:
Bisq --help

This will give you a list of flags that you can use on the command line.

Code:
--appDataDir=<value>
        Application data directory (default: /home/username/.local/share/Bisq)

i will update this later.

Statement on Critical Security Vulnerability

Quote
Posted by Steve Jain on 8 April 2020

About 24 hours ago, we discovered that an attacker was able to exploit a flaw in the Bisq trade protocol, targeting individual trades in order to steal trading capital. We are aware of approximately 3 BTC and 4000 XMR stolen from 7 different victims. This is the situation as we know it so far. The only market affected was the XMR/BTC market, and all affected trades occured over the past 12 days.

Bisq v1.2, released in late October 2019, updated its trade protocol. It improved decentralization by removing arbitrators with a 3rd key in the multisig escrow used for bitcoin trading funds. These arbitrators were replaced with 2 new roles: mediators and arbitrators with no keys in the multisig escrow. With no more trusted third parties, the new trade protocol also required that trade parties move bitcoin trade funds to a Bisq “donation address” after a hard time limit in order to solve dead-locked trades.

This donation address is set by the Bisq DAO and approved by DAO stakeholders. Bisq software did not verify that the payout address for trades was actually the Bisq donation address set by the DAO before signing and sending the time-locked payout TX to the trade counterparty. In plain words, this exploit was the result of a flaw in the way Bisq trades are carried out, not in the way funds are stored (i.e., there is no honeypot since Bisq is P2P).

As soon as this attack was discovered, Bisq developers used the alert key to disable all trading on Bisq. The flaw in the trade protocol has been corrected in Bisq v1.3.0, now released (https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq/releases/tag/v1.3.0). Bisq is properly peer-to-peer, so alert key functionality can be bypassed by users, but this is highly discouraged.

A proposal will soon be created in the Bisq DAO, Bisq’s funding mechanism, that will aim to repay the 7 victims from future trading revenues.

Security has always been a top priority for Bisq, but this incident shows it wasn’t perfect. The project is evaluating several approaches to strengthening security reviews and practices even more, and will detail them soon.

In the past 4 years of operating on mainnet, Bisq has never had to use the alert key to enable “safe mode” on Bisq nodes, and this is an unprecedented case for the Bisq DAO. The Bisq developer community sincerely apologizes for this security failure.

Didn’t know bitcointalk haven’t had a thread about bisq. So thank you so much for opening this one.
I haven't used it for a long time. But I can remember that the number of direct trades for Fiat (Sepa) <-> BTC was very small. Is it still like that?

Hello,

I just used Bisq for the first time. It isn't very intuitive to say the least. Once I figured out enough, sent BTC to my wallet, took an offer to sell BTC, said to Bisq to use my BTC balance for the trade to keep it simple, it started doing its thing, and after 30s, "transaction not completed in 30s". And that's it, it's failed, Bisq has taken its fee, my BTC is in limbo waiting for confirmations despite having paid high fees, and nothing else happens.

I'm told I can ask for a fee refund on github.

What the heck ?

Version 1.5.1 there is an annoying bug.

The application doesn't detect the blockchain confirmation and doesn't update the trade process and stuck in a phase.

Bug in examples:

-Bitcoins are transferred but the application doesn't detect a confirmation hence the trade cannot continue.
-You're selling bitcoins, the buyer initiated the payment and you receive it but you can't confirm to then release the bitcoins. In another word, you can't finish the trade but the timer continues to go. After the initial delay, I won't be surprised if I lose my security deposit because I didn't respect the protocol (which I can't since the application is buggy)

I'm trying to resync the SPV file with the hope it does something positive otherwise I won't be able to do much:/
Coincidence, it happens when you don't have the time to take care of such things

It looks like that Bisq exchange is going to start using Liquid network (centralized federate Bitcoin sidechain) as their base protocol, and regular Bitcoin protocol will be available only as alternative option.
I understand the need to do something and try lowering fees but I don't understand why developers have to use almost dead chain like Liquid that is centralized solution dependent on kyc and limited number of people.
Bisq should be all about privacy and nothing is finally decide and there is Bisq github topic investigating new trading protocol (https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq/discussions/5430):

Quote
Bisq will work to implement support for Liquid as a base layer and become a Bitcoin Layer 3 Network on top of the Liquid sidechain. For those who wish to keep using Bisq as a Bitcoin Layer 2 Network on top of the base layer Bitcoin blockchain, this option will still be available.

Bisq exchange is going to add USDT Tether coin from next release, and I think this could be very good for increasing their overall trading volume, but I still don't trust any stable coin that can be frozen or get transactions reversed like in case with USDT:

bump

Does anyone here have the latest version of the application installed?

Since I did update to the latest version, the application got stuck. The connection to the Tor network does not work for me. I've tried deleting the obsolete Tor files but nothing works and changing the bridge is not applied when I restart. So I'm not able to try with obsf3 or another.
Now I'm out of ideas other than removing the application and use a backup

That sucks when you only have a few hours left to confirm a transaction. The previous update was a huge optimization but this one is like going backwards

Bisq exchange is working on big update for their new version 2.0 with massive UI changes and improvements.
This is not released for public yet, current version is 1.9.2, but according to screenshots I saw this looks amazing and it improves privacy.
There is a new welcome screen, Nym profiles are available, and you can simply navigate with clicks and sliders, Lightning, Liquid, etc.
It appears to me they hired some new people to help them make it very easy to onboard new users to Bisq.
What do you think about this changes?

Bisq has a new update as of 10 days ago, it's now up to version 1.9.4.  One improvement is an update to the latest version of Tor, which improves network reliability.  The other significant improvement is the implementation of derivative Monero addresses, (sub-addresses) which can greatly improve privacy if you use Bisq to trade XMR.

This is a follow-up release that adds the latest Tor version (v0.4.7.8) to improve Tor connectivity.
~
Improvements
  • Create new XMR subaddress for each trade
  • Improve XMR proof service
  • Reset Tor directory when a new release is downloaded
  • Adopt economyFee recommendation from Mempool rate provider
  • Add chart series for total trade fees
  • Show changes in BSQ Supply over time
  • Prevent account creation for banned Revolut GBP sort code 040075
  • Improve wording & appearance of trade shutdown dialog
  • Prevent shutdown if trade is in process of being taken
  • Mark user's own offers in Market -> Offer book
  • Attempt self-ping 3 times before reporting error with connectivity

More detailed info can be found here: https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq/releases/tag/v1.9.4

I'm anxious to play with it, and hopeful we'll see a beta release in the next few months.  Unfortunately there isn't a set timeline for 2.0 release, but I expect some of the features will be implemented in minor version updates of 1.9.x as they get validated.

It's important and good thing they are working on this major improvements, and I think they are going to release some beta version for testing in next few months or by the end of the year, unless something major changes.
I would like to see more people using Bisq, and not considering it as some complicated boogeyman exchange.
Bisq is currently available for desktop os (with mobile notifications), but it would be cool to have some basic mobile exchange version as well.

The first improvement they should work on is with the software itself, instead to work on features and alike.

I don't know about you guys but to me, the software is really hard to use. I don't mean how to use it because a kid can do it. But it takes all the memory of my OS. Up to the point, I can not do anything else, not even keep a browser open. I often need to shut down the machine or software and try again and again...

When I have a transaction to confirm, if I need to do it before tonight, better I start to try early in the morning! I can not stay behind my screen all day long! I know, my specs are not huge (4+2 GB ram) but I believe it should be far enough. No idea what others use, I started to wonder if it could be better to run a VPS (considering you manage the security of the server efficiently or move your coins once finished)

I don't know what to say. Perhaps making a light version or something around. In a release not long ago, it was nicely improved but then in the next version, the problems start again. (usually the DAO synchronization).
I remember when I talked in PM with someone here, he told me he can't use it properly with less than 16gb RAM.

By the way, with the mobile application, you only receive notifications right? You can't do anything else (i.e. confirm a TX)

I would too.  It's interesting that I don't see much advertising done by Bisq.  I guess since it's not really a "business" in the traditional sense of the word, the expectation is that it'll grow organically by word-of-mouth advertising.  I've been doing my part, lol.

I played around with Bisq some years ago, but never really used the service in earnest until around 8 or 9 months ago.  Since then it's been my favorite ('hehem, to borrow n0nce's term) on/off-ramp.  But it's also my favorite way to exchange BTC/XMR.

I'm in front of a PC most of the day, so I likely wouldn't get much use out of a mobile app, but I agree that would help draw more users.

Wait what, for real? One of the computers I use is an old laptop, almost 10 years old. It was a decent, up-to-date entry level machine back then, and it struggles with video calls in the browser these days, but Bisq runs without a hitch.
I'm sure it could run better if it wasn't written in Java, but I've been using it on low-level hardware for years, always going smooth (with a bit of patience, like anything else on these older machines).
On modern hardware, it's blazing fast once it finished startup (during which it needs to connect to both Bisq and Bitcoin peers).

I remember when I talked in PM with someone here, he told me he can't use it properly with less than 16gb RAM.
I don't know what to say either: my old laptop has 8GB of RAM and I'm running other stuff in parallel, while having Bisq open and waiting for an open offer to be accepted.

By the way, with the mobile application, you only receive notifications right? You can't do anything else (i.e. confirm a TX)
Yes, it's for notifications only.

Bisq is currently available for desktop os (with mobile notifications), but it would be cool to have some basic mobile exchange version as well.
I don't know how it would be supposed to work with Bisq's current architecture, though. It requires at least the trade offer 'maker' to be online at all times, which is going to be hard on a mobile phone.

That's right: since Bisq is not a business, they obviously don't have an advertising budget... ;) But I'm considering designing myself a Bisq profile picture in the future.

It's similar situation with Bitcoin, it mostly has mouth to mouth advertisement, and they are working behind the scenes on updates and improvements.
You can't really advertise Bisq a lot in current state until they make some major changes that are coming in Bisq 2.0 Misq next-generation trading protocol.
If you check Bisq official githgub Roadmap you will see thewir next goals is to improve Liquidity, Security, Reliability, Onboarding and Management.

Atomic swaps would be best for this purpose, but I don't know what happened with project that offered easy BTC/XMR atomic swaps.

Same as me, but you should consider that majority of people worldwide and mostly using their smartphones for everything, especially younger generation.
I am not expecting average grandpa will jump on using Bisq on smartphone for sure, but you never know :D

They would have to change a lot of things for sure, but some lightweight version could be created, at least for atomic swaps.
Misq is Bisq next-generation trading protocol, so I am expecting some nice surprises with new release.

As far as I know, the challenge with Monero swaps was that it doesn't really have a scripting language which allows for what basically are simple smart contracts.
However, they started to work on a dedicated (as in 'not just using existing technology such as a scripting language') atomic swap 'feature' a few years ago and apparently it's live since August 2021.

I was thinking about one project that is still in development and it's called UnstoppableSwap (https://unstoppableswap.net/) for trustlessly exchanging Bitcoin for Monero using Atomic Swaps.
Problem is that you currently can't use it vice versa and exchange Monero for Bitcoin, so it only works in one direction.
I never tried using it myself, so I can't confirm how it works in real life, but good thing it has MIT License so everything can be inspected.

I'm interested to see what Misq offers as well.  I've heard there'll be a social trading platform, and possibly some a lending platform as well.  Another P2P exchange has implemented a lending platform, but I haven't played with it.  Recently I've been avoiding any services that employ custodial wallets, and especially ones that request my identification.  That's one of the reasons I'm so pleased with Bisq.

I have heard that the bisq team is in desperate need for Java developers, so I'm assuming the Misq will be programmed in Java just like Bisq.  I'm not huge fan of Java, but if it's a stand-alone program it's less of a security risk than java web apps.

That's a pity. Rust is becoming more and more standard for important projects, especially in the Bitcoin space. I don't code in Rust myself, but I find its features and safety guarantees extremely useful.

Thanks! I made it myself, promoting a few services that I find important to get more exposure, for free.

I like to think of Bisq as a non-profit, even if they aren't officially registered as such (that I know of.)  As far as i can tell, all their earnings go to pay their developers and support staff, which is essentially how a non-profit operates.  It's noble of you to volunteer your efforts to help out.

Interesting. Do you remember what that other P2P exchange is called?

It's HodlHodl which has a lending service, but again, I've never used it.  There's another p2p exchange that's very similar that gets mentioned a lot around here; Localcryptos.  Localcyrptos claims to employ non-custodial wallets.  Paxful is yet another p2p exchange but I think they and HodlHodl use custodial wallets.  All three resemble Localbitcoins, so maybe they all started with a whitelabel version of the original Localbitcoins site.

I've avoided using these exchanges because AFIK they do require KYC.

Thanks for addressing this, I had never heard of Rust language before.  I'll do a little reading about it when I get the chance.

Why do you avoid exchanges that require KYC? What's bad about it? What are you afraid of? Why do tens of millions of users have passed KYC and don't think about anything?

It's rather surprising that you don't know why some people avoid using exchanges that require KYC

One of the reasons is some exchanges Block users from certain countries using their services by identifying them from KYC. So they can't use such exchanges to buy or sell Bitcoin. Platforms like Bisq are a great option.

Another reason to use p2p options whenever available is because that's how bitcoin was intended to be used.  The premise of institutional commercialization and  KYC requirements is the antithesis of the philosophy behind bitcoin.  It's meant to, and capable of freeing us from the Surveillance Sate.  Whenever people comply with KYC requirements they are only enable the SS to march on.

Not to stray to far off-topic; but this one of the reasons I'm opposed to alts in general.  For the most part they've been largely (by volume) scams, and the ones that aren't have largely failed to live up to promises.  There are notable exceptions, of course.  However, they have also served yet another sinister purpose that may or may not have been anticipated: Alts have largely become a mechanism for "legitimate exchanges" to get rich while selling out our privacy to regulatory agencies.

As this pertains to bisq; it is a very bitcoin-centric platform, but it does provide for convenient trading of XMR and it does offer provisions for trading many other alts.  So, even alts can be traded p2p and without KYC.

P2P cannot give as much money as a crypto exchange can. For example, Carl The Moon has more than a few hundred million dollars and never hides from anyone. Why should an ordinary citizen be afraid of someone with a maximum of 0.10 BTC in their wallet?

That's a pretty stupid statement. Satoshi could send an email to Adam Back tomorrow, negotiate a P2P trade with him for 1 million BTC, at a price that satoshi wants and Back can pay; they will meet and make the trade P2P. No problem. He could also do the same with an untrusted party through Bisq. One million BTC would be pretty high volume, and there's no technical reason Bisq can't do that or would do it worse than a centralized exchange. Remember Bitcoin transactions don't care about amounts; those are just numbers. Everything that works with small amounts (multisig contracts in Bisq, for example) also works the same with large amounts.

Besides the fact that your first statement ('P2P trading can't have as much volume as a centralized exchange') has nothing to do with your second one (something about hiding how much you own):
There are very legitimate reasons for not wanting everyone to know how much you own. For instance, not wanting to be attacked, killed and robbed.

Besides, P2P trading is not only about minimizing the amount of people that know how much you own. Here's an excerpt of things that decentralized P2P exchanges like Bisq generally do better than centralized ones.
  • No KYC required. Read: [Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5221497.0). Your documents can be stolen or 'lost' and used in actual crimes.
  • Less trust required. Centralized exchanges can and do freeze funds, so every time you deposit money you cannot know if it will be credited to your account or deemed 'illicit' (even though you did nothing wrong) and just stolen from you. You also don't need to trust them to keep your KYC documents safe.
  • It is decentralized. This means a variety of things, but some of them: [1] Censorship-resistant - governments or other powerful entities can't just shut it down. [2] No central point of failure (hacking attack / hostile company takeover etc.). [3] No business behind it that may be interested in exit-scamming their users. List goes on...
  • No exit scam. As just alluded to; there's a huge list of exchanges that went off the radar or claimed being hacked of all of their funds, where it's clear they effectively stole those funds.
  • No insane withdrawal fees. Related to above point: Centralized exchanges always try to make you leave your coins with them. It is often extremely expensive (e.g. $20 withdrawal fee) to actually get those BTC you bought into a wallet you actually own; or they try to convince you by offering dividends ('staking Bitcoins etc.'). As long as you don't withdraw, the exchange could go offline, it could geo-block your country, it could block your IP for 'illicit reasons' (something that can always be claimed, no matter if you did something illicit or not - keep this in mind), the exchange could claim your funds came from a crime, it could claim it was hacked and lost your funds, and other ways that would lead you without access to your money. Not being able to cheaply withdraw (read: actually get what you paid for) is a HUGE issue with centralized exchanges. Keeping funds on them should be seen as an 'optional service' and not the encouraged default.

Edit: You were a fool to shitpost in here. This made me aware of your scam attempts and got you another Flag Support. I still hope my post helps someone else.
Wait, you are unable to exchange your UST because the exchange requires a withdrawal fee of 1 UST? That just does not make sense. Do you even know how exchanges work?
In order to exchange your UST, you need to deposit it on the exchange, so you do not have to worry about the withdrawal fee and minimum withdrawal amount.
UST has been on the crypto exchange since the beginning of May. And in order to withdraw it to another wallet from the exchange, the exchange requires a huge commission. So I am locked with UST on the crypto exchange forever - when placing a sell order for 1 USDT order, they don't execute it, and they don't allow to withdraw it to exchange it with other users
Funny though, that you're experiencing the downsides of a centralized exchange and come here telling everyone how somehow centralized exchanges are better than P2P decentralized ones...

More trading pairs on centralized exchanges, staking, futures, borrow/lend and more.

What scam attempts are you referring to? And you're support a flag accusing me of a scam that doesn't exist? Can't you see that I'm a victim? Do you support those who abuse their authority? Did you carefully understand this situation, or did you read 2 words and immediately clicked? You should have pressed the "Oppose" button.

Not sure if any of you had noticed, but the Bisq price server was having some issues this week.  It looks like one of the price providers wasn't giving any volume, which affected the pricing displayed on Bisq.  Many were in the support room on bisq.chat complaining that the XMR pricing was way off.

Emzy opened an issue about it on Github which explains more: https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq-pricenode/issues/10

Yesterday the price node was updated: https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq/pull/6229#issue-1253270497
Here's the new chart: https://bisq.wiki/Bisq_Price_Indices#Asset_Table

Hello everybody. I am 'kinda' new here and looking for a way to purchase BTC on a decentralized way. I do NOT want to register on any known centralized exchange and process KYC procedure for the reasons mentioned on that link (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5221497). I was referred to this great piece of P2P software called Bisq unfortunately I still struggle at the first hurdle --> How do buy the suggested first 0.002 BTC (two millibitcoins) to start? The FAQ link (https://bisq.wiki/Getting_your_first_BTC) is not really a help for me. I live in Germany and there is no bitcoin/ATM nearby where I could purchase a small amount by cash without KYC. I already posted in the particular subforum marketplace where I am looking for someone to buy a small amount via Paypal Friends/Family (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5409084.msg60730914#msg60730914) but without luck yet. In case I get to my first 0.002 BTC I would really like to download, install and use Bisq. Looking forward to any assistance, please reply either via PM or on my marketplace forum post. Thanks!

Bisq is very good for trading Bitcoin, but it's not so great when you want to buy your first Bitcoin because you need to send BTC security deposit before making a purchase.
Alternative options you could try using is LocalCryptos and find people who want to trade Paypal for Bitcoin.
There are a lot more services you could find on Bestchange website, but they are all custodial and they can ask you for kyc at any time.

I already posted in the particular subforum marketplace where I am looking for someone to buy a small amount via Paypal Friends/Family (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5409084.msg60730914#msg60730914) but without luck yet. I would suggest using some of the trusted escrows in forum that would help you making a purchase of Bitcoin with Paypal.
Paying a small fee will make sure nobody is scammed, especially with reversible payment options like Paypal is involved.
I see your email was recently changed, so that may be one of the the reasons nobody responded in your topic so far.

I tried Paxful some days ago. My first trade was a SCAM, I lost <20 EUR because the seller never paid the agreed amount. The other trade was success, I have purchased abt 10 EUR in Bitcoin but the sad story is --> I cannot send the small mBTC amount to my personal wallet because Paxful asks me to perform KYC. Man, that really sucks! BTW: The reason I changed my email address here on forum was because initially I didn't know if this forum is good or bad and if I would stay here so I used a one-time disposal email address. After I registered and realized that this forum is very frequently visited with lot of content and good replies from many pros I changed it to my correct email address. Thanks for the hint with escrow service. There is someone in here who is doing escrow service, I also got referred to him in one of my very first posts here. Have to search for it (him). I will try that, too ...

thank you so much for reply.

I would probably recommend getting your first Bitcoin (for Bisq security deposits) through Lightning on Robosats.
I've done a short, unsponsored review about it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405549.0

Unfortunately, also Robosats requires a security deposit, but obviously much lower (as you're buying less BTC) and pretty quick & cheap through the use of Lightning. I just checked and you would need around 1£ in collateral (or less) to buy roughly 20£ of BTC. I'm sure you can find someone who gifts you that amount (worst case message me) or lends a few thousand sats without collateral.

Otherwise, if you have another crypto as collateral, you can also find people who give you a Bitcoin loan in the lending section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=65.0).

Another way to get KYC-free sats is to buy hashpower on a hashpower marketplace like NiceHash. Last I checked, you could just rent a miner for a few hours, pay for it with fiat and get mining rewards on an address you like.

Just as a probably helpful information:

Bitcointalk has been hacked several times (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4405796.0), where various data was obtained by hackers, such like also E-Mail Addresses, which are normally hidden from public (for a good reason). Because in case a hacker obtains your mail address and your real name or can tie your Bitcointalk account (via Mail) to your real-life identity, you might be in danger because such data is sold on the Darknet frequently (see also Ledger's big hack).
Unfortunately, hackers are acting very aggressively.

So, I can recommend using a different, pseudonymous mail address for your Bitcointalk Account and for Crypto in general.
It's just a recommendation but I assume many people will agree here.  :)

Hello people
this is w000000t from the Bisq support team, I was notified there was some trolling going on in this thread so I decided I finally needed to get an account on THE forum, and here I am. I reckon the trolling has been cleaned already, but I suppose, since I'm here... AMA if you want.
I know more than the average, being a support agent and all, but not everything. There is actually a lot to learn about Bisq, and I'm not done so myself.

The recent tornado cash issue triggered me to think about the worst. Things like the US government sanctioning Bisq.network, having profiles of developers in GitHub deleted and probably arresting some of the developers who may not be anonymous (we all know how crazy those Government Motherf*ckers can be)

Does Bisq have a plan to make sure that their operation remains smooth even after being sanctioned (In case it happens)?
Perhaps opting for decentralized alternatives to github?

Honestly we haven't talked extensively about this, yet, still we feel the pressure, no doubt.
Brief references to the possibility of choosing an alternative to github have been made, and if you notice how, under DAO > Governance, all proposals links do not point straight to github, but rather to a translation url that redirects to the correct issues on github thereafter, this was a possibility that had been put in code since the start.

More extensive discussion was entertained regarding the specifics of the FinCEN legislation, where Bisq, as a platform which doesn't get involved in the trades directly, not like TornadoCash (I reckon), it cannot really be considered a middleman acting as financial entity. The security deposit, and the rest of the trade protocol, is only "led" by the application, yet all the funds move exclusively between the trading peers, no middle step involved where Bisq manages the funds in any way.

Have you spoken to a real lawyer about the implications? And probably more then one because one that is well versed in EU law probably has no clue about US law.
Going with the theory that if you cover the EU + US you can probably be covered for most places. I don't know squat about implications of doing what you do, but I can see some overzealous enforcement person trying to make a name for themselves trying to cause trouble. Sad, but true.

we all know how desperate those Government Motherf*ckers have become

FIFY.  :'(

I don't understand how the US government could justify sanctioning Bisq, but that doesn't mean they're not plotting to do so.  Bisq itself is nothing more than "ebay" for digital assets.  I don't see Bisq as an obfuscation tool, at least not anymore than Coinbase Pro, or any other centralized exchange.  The only difference is the lack of KYC and traceability, but there's no US law that has codified traceability requirements of digital assets, or cash for that matter.  Because that would be unconstitutional... (as if that matters.)

Bisq has implemented rules that I believe make it less prone to government sanctions; i.e. there are limits on fiat to BTC trades that allow no more than 0.25BTC to be traded in one transaction.  The rules aren't so much for AML reasons, but rather for the safety of traders.  However, those ruled would make it more difficult (and less obscure) if one were to use Bisq to wash large sums of fiat.  But the fact remains that with some effort Bisq can be used by bad actors.

Nevertheless, I would love to see Bisq move it's source code to a decentralized or self-hosted gitlab type of hosting site.  The governments of the world (and specifically the US) are starting to panic as their corruption is getting exposed.  They know that their only hope of maintaining their grip on power is by ensuring they control their subjects' currency.  Anything Bisq can do to mitigate a governments ability to shut the system down will ensure that the bitcoin revolution lives on.

Sorry for the muli-post, but I just wanted to give everyone a headsup; Bisq version 1.9.5 is currently in the testing phase, and the pre-release may be as early as tomorrow.  There are a few improvements to the UI, and some bug fixes as well.

Here's a list of the planned improvements:

Quote
Improvements
P2P network status indicator
Prevent UI trading actions when there are no P2P connections
Prepare Bisq for bitcoin-core v23 compatiblity
Possibility to copy addresses / transaction ids
Send funds - don't use all available funds by default
Show Peer Info window only when left-clicking on avatar
Allow mediated payout signature message to be re-sent
Clear sensitive data from trade ProcessModel
GetBlocksResponse lower chunk size (was 6000 now 4000)

And, more info here:

For those of you who are using bisq, I'm sure you've already seen the update notice informing you of version 1.9.5 having been released about a week ago.  The new P2P connectivity GUI indicator is a pretty cool feature.  At least now when you're browsing through offers, and one times out you'll know if it's your connection or the other party.  I haven't had one time out since the new version, and since I have a couple of instances running from time to time, I've notice that if one instance is having connection issues, the offers from that instance will not be visible to others.  So, I figure the issue with timing out once taking an offer shouldn't be as big of an issue anymore.

Still no Taproot address compatibility, I guess it was wishful thinking to interpret "Prepare Bisq for bitcoin-core v23 compatibility" meant taproot implementation.

I guess bitcoinj has no compatibility with taproot (yet?), and since that's the library Bisq uses for all bitcoin functions, that's a limitation we need to cope with

I recall learning that bisq uses the bitcoinj library not long ago.  You're correct; as of the most recent major release of bitcoinj they've implemented sending to segwit v1 addresses, but have yet to implement creation of taproot addresses.

Here's an excerpt from the bitcoinj V0.16.0 release notes:
Implement BIP350 – Bech32m format for v1+ witness addresses.
Implement Taproot BIP341 – send to P2TR addresses. Receiving to and spending from P2TR addresses and chains will be implemented in a future release.

However, it's still not possible to send to a taproot address from the Bisq wallet.  Here's what I get when I try:

Being the aforementioned issue with taproot addresses and bitcoinj present in any version of bisq, updating to 1.9.5 still warrants new exciting features like the status light at bottom right!  8) ;D

It's hardly an issue as much as it is a feature that would be nice to have.  And of course you're right, previous versions wouldn't have that feature either.  As for the status light; it is nice to have as an indicator of network status.  It does tend to capture my attention and add to my anxiety when it isn't green.  ;D

Regarding sending to taproot addresses; if one is careful not to spend locked or reserved UTXOs, Electrum can be used to send funds to taproot addresses.  It is worth noting that the Bisq team does not recommend using Electrum with your Bisq wallet because of the extra caution required when dealing with coin control.

Risk only stands for reserved utxos, spending which the open offers would become invalidated and you would waste the maker and miner fees that get paid at offer creation.
Locked utxos cannot be spent as they are in a multisig where the trade peers has the other key

Thanks for the clarification.  I honestly never thought about what the difference was, but that makes perfect sense.  Had I paid attention, I guess I would have noticed that only coins engaged in an active trade are marked as "locked."

Can someone help explain why there are such high premiums on Bisq for BTC vs USD?
Why aren't people taking advantage of the price differences?
Could it be that there's a problem with the payment methods (Pardon me please, I have never used Zwelle  ;))? Perhaps cashing out is hard?

I would say that Bisq is just a representation of free market, and the values you see are not more than the individual preferences of traders, everyone wants to get cheap bitcoin, and many are okay with paying it way over spot to get to it without proper KYC

This just tells me that it's a good time to buy bitcoin.  ;)
Many folks are still bullish, and many investors buy regardless of the price.  Even at a 3% premium the current price does a lot for one's dollar-cost-average.  Also note in the screenshot you posted, the really high percentage offerings are for small amounts.  Most people aren't going to bother to sell $39 worth of bitcoin, but if they were planning on buying something at Amazon anyway, an 8% discount can't hurt.

Zelle is far from perfect for the seller, chargebacks are possible.  But it's one of the better options in the USA for now.  Cashing out isn't hard at all, the money is deposited straight to your bank account.  I've never had issues with it, but Bisq tends to be one of the safer trading platforms for various reasons.  For both buyers and sellers with US based bank accounts, Zelle is the most convenient payment method available.

I never used Zwelle and I don't know how it works, but you can always create your own offers in Bisq, or take advantage with any price difference.
Situation with Bisq is somehow similar to other p2p trading websites (AgoraDesk, LocalCryptos, etc) so I think this is nothing specific to Bisq.
You can follow bisq markets to find real price and trades, price for USD pairs looks almost the same like in centrlaized exchanges, but EUR price is different currently:

I had an idea the other day; would like to hear some opinions - whether anyone else would find it useful.
What if it were possible to install Bisq with a CLI interface on a small server or other box that is always online, with the ability to control it from another device?

Some example scenarios:
(1) User owns a server and a laptop. When at work, at home, cafe, anywhere, the user can connect to Bisq running on the server and perform an action if needed. This can be anything from initiating a trade to confirming received funds or anything else in the trading protocol.
(2) User owns a desktop and a mobile phone. The desktop cannot be carried around and the phone will be in standby mode for most time of the day; so there's no way to host offers and being able to interact with them quickly. With this improvement, the PC could host the application, even if the user is on a trip abroad or similar, and they can just buy & sell BTC through a phone app.
(3) User has bad internet connectivity, so their offers go down all the time. By renting a tiny server, they can run Bisq without issues 24/7 and only connect to it when needed.

While you can start it and pass some options from the command-line [1], I don't think there is any 'client' like bitcoin-cli or lightning-cli that allows you to interact with the application in an SSH session or even through a GUI that connects to your instance's Tor address.

If there is interest for such functionality, I'd look into suggesting it to the Bisq development team or do some work on it myself.

I was doing some server updates yesterday, and went looking for exactly what you're describing, but was disappointed to find that it still didn't exist.  This wasn't the first time I went looking for such a thing, so I wasn't expecting much.  It appears that the CLI options to which you linked were only recreantly added (v1.9,) and I've heard that this functionality is in the works.  It will be pretty awesome to have Bisq running on a home server with the ability to access all it's features from a mobile app or a webpage.

I started thinking about it again recently while learning how to run Robosats locally.  But Robosats still has many of it's functions running on remote servers, obviously.

Really? Where did you hear that, if I may ask? That would be awesome, indeed. I envision something like Ride-The-Lightning (https://github.com/Ride-The-Lightning/RTL), which is accessible from any of your devices that runs Tor Browser. A phone app could connect to it, too, similarly to how SPV wallets (desktop or mobile) can connect to your full node's Electrum Server (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366854.msg58233714#msg58233714) through Tor.

Some reddit post from an unknown individual, lol.  Sorry, I didn't mean to get your hopes up or make it sound like I heard it from a reliable source.

The CLI options certainly make it possible for some crafty individual to develop a frontend.  The software is Java based, but I don't think the API cares what language is used for the frontend.

Lol, RTL (and Electrs) is what I was updating yesterday.  I'm sensing some cosmic-wavelength-connection here...  either that or you installed a key logger on my 'puter.   :o  ;)

It's interesting idea, but I would rather like to see some light version of Bisq exchange that could run on mobile devices.
Maybe you won't be able to use all features from desktop version, but you could make trades and do basic functions.
I am waiting to see what is going to happen when Bisq 2.0 comes out, and I heard some rumors release is not far away, and this will be a major change.
I would wait for this new release to come out before making any new suggestions to Bisq devs.

The problem with mobile devices is that they are usually only able to run software in the background for a limited amount of time. Keeping up a Tor connection for hours or days to host your trade is not something your mobile device battery will really enjoy. It may actually not be possible; mobile OSes might kill long running background tasks after a while.

I agree with n0nce on this one; as it is a program like bisq would have a hard time running on a mobile device.  The only way would it could work if bisq could run as a background service as he and I discussed in our recent posts, or trust some third party to host your seed which would be a non-starter for me.

I wouldn't expect much in the way of development of Bisq v1 either.  If a CLI API with a frontend is to be developed I doubt we'll see it before v2 is released.

Which brings up a good point; I know there are a few good developers here, and the Bisq team could use help with developing the user interface for v2.  It's easy to request compensation for your contribution, so anyone who thinks they can help I encourage you to mosey on over to their matrix room to learn more:  https://matrix.to/#/#bisq.v2.dev:bitcoin.kyoto

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a recommandation.

I'm ready to give up to use Bisq. Each time it's a nightmare and I'm lucky when I finish a TX.
However, I'm ready to give a last chance and to try to use it with a virtual server. What specs should I buy to be 'safe' (RAM and CPU).
It will be based on KVM, so the ressources will be 'dedicated'

I looked through Bisq's documentation, but I couldn't find any mention of the minimum system requirements or any recommendations.  I went back and looked at your previous post about your hardware issues, and I see that you only have 4GB of ram on your current rig.  That seems rather light, but it should be enough for a light weight OS such as Debian.  If you're running Windows I would recommend at least 8GB.  I don't think that Bisq software requires much in the way of processing power, so a dual-core processor should be enough, but again, that would somewhat depend on the OS you are using.  If you're a Windows user I would recommend a minimum 4-Core processor.

I've been hearing good things about the ZimaBoard 832, which is a single board computer with a quad-core Celeron processor and 8GB of RAM.  They sell for about $180 on Amazon, and are capable of running Windows.  In the long-run something like that might be cheaper than running Bisq on VPS, and certainly more secure.  Personally, I wouldn't want to run wallet software (even if it is just a hot wallet,) on a cloud-based system.

I have a couple of old lap-tops in storage, but I don't remember what their specs are.  I'll pull them out and inspect them this weekend, and if they're capable I'll let you know.  I'd be willing to part with one (or both) for very little money, if you're interested.

Same here, I didn't find anything relevent about the minimum system requirements, not even a discussion, so I concluded there is no difference in this matter.

And yeah, I'm the guy who has always a problem with Bisq lol. I have 4 gb ram but in reality I have 6 gb. I think there is 2 gb used as like a swap file for Linux.
Intel I5 5200U CPU@2.20 Ghz It should be enough as a system basically because Bisq is not a software doing millions of computations per second, or a super super heavy video game.

I know using a server for this purpose is not a good security practice and I have listed the risks. Considering that I don't store funds, unless a person in control of the server clicks to confirm a transaction, releases the collateral and transfers it to his wallet.

So I'm only risking the collateral. Knowing that I don't do big transactions... I try to weigh the pros and cons but I don't see something else 'dangerous'...

off-topic, but how that comes above CPU @ 2.20 is linking to mailto:CPU@2.20

Are you trying to run Bisq on a headless server? What for? Can you interact with it on the command-line? I was actually wondering about that the other day...
I can say that it runs perfectly well on a 4-th gen Intel Core i5 and 8GB of RAM. Anything newer, obviously, too, but this is the oldest configuration I've tried. It was a little slow and took some time to fully load, but it was fine.

Bisq uses between 1.5 and 2GB of memory on my machine, so 4-6GB should suffice. Operating systems also have swap in case you fill your actual RAM completely. So that's not really a reason for software not to start at all, but heavy swap usage would be slower and degrade your SSD over time.

Is your machine a desktop?  If so, I have a pair of 4GB RAM sticks (8GB total,) that should work with your chipset.  They are Micron MT8KTF51264AZ-1G6E1, if you care to confirm.  I don't need any money for them.  If you wish to remain discreet, I'll send them to MJ and you'll have to pay shipping to your location.

Not sure what this is about, something you're seeing in the bios, or a CLI report?  I don't see anything like that from my lshw or lscpu reports.

Are you trying to run Bisq on a headless server? What for? Can you interact with it on the command-line? I was actually wondering about that the other day...

I think he's talking about renting remote hardware or a cloud server to install an OS with a GUI dedicated to running Bisq.  Again, it's not something I would recommend from a security and privacy perspective, and I doubt it would be cost effective over time.

Yeah, swap space sholdn't be counted as part of your RAM capacity, it's for "emergency" use only as far as prioritizing processes.  And SATA is no where near as fast as DDR3 RAM, so there's that.

No, it's a laptop.

Since then, I tried it on another laptop and it's the same thing. But I'm not surprised since it has the same specs.
Bisq uses a little less than 2gb ram on my side, and Win 10 alone uses ~2gb ram

I will soon receive a Beelink SEi12 with 16 gb ram for my house. As I only need it for a bare metal hypervisor (ESXI), I will have plenty of memory for Bisq. (hopefully)

But thank you very much, I have rarely met a guy on the web willing to give me something for free.
Trully appreciated  :)

This would be an argument for testing with a lightweight live Xcfe-based Linux environment that only uses 531MB ram, such as Mint.

But I also realise this isn't the long-term or ideal solution to the problem you are experiencing...

Either way, 2GB is quite a lot of memory to be demanding from lower grade hardware.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the app attempts to download the update files over TOR.  If that's the case, and your TOR connection isn't perfect I can see that happening.  In fact, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, and also surprised it's never happened to me.  I can't tell what OS you're using, but the manual install works well on Windows.

Not so important but I noticed it.

Interesting development regarding running Bisq on a headless server; one of the contributors just posted a guide to set up a headless Bisq instance on a remote server, and included instructions on how to access it from another device with a head-up display.  The process uses a third party, open-source (GNU) software, XPRA (https://github.com/Xpra-org/xpra) to connect to the headless instance.  I have not tried this, so I don't know how well it works, but it seems like a great rainy-day project.

The setup instructions can be found here:  https://github.com/apemithrandir/self-hosting-guide/blob/main/headless-bisq/GUIDE.md

I think it's a good solution to buy in P2P model without registrations and KYC?
In terms of privacy, how do you rate it?
What payment method do you usually use, to be as anonymous as possible?

It can be a bit confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty simple to use.  The great thing about Bisq is that they have a lot of really good tutorials, and the team tends to be very active on the matrix chat, so getting help is pretty easy.

Overall, what do you guys think of Bisq?

It's not perfect, there are issues that pop up once in a while.  Depending on the general market, getting bites on your offers can take a while some times.  Other times they get snagged up pretty darn quick.  If your offers have attractive rates, they get snagged up fairly quickly, but no where near as fast as the big CEXs.  I think this mostly has to do with how many (or few, rather) people are using Bisq.  Once the software is able to attract more users, a lot of these issues will go away.

I think it's a good solution to buy in P2P model without registrations and KYC?

The privacy features are second to none.  There's no KYC and they don't store any of your personal information on a server, not even the details of your payment accounts.  All that information stays on your local machine, and the only time any information is disclosed, it's only to your trade partner while the trade is open.  That means there are no servers to get hacked and no data breaches that can leak your info.

Once you set up an account on Bisq, the only identifier other peers will see is an onion address.  If you take or make a BTC to Fiat offer, the other peer will see your name and email address.  But again, the information is only visible to that peer during the time the trade is open.

What payment method do you usually use, to be as anonymous as possible?

I'm a US resident, so for USD Zelle or Strike are the most commonly preferred methods of payment.  Obviously they're not anonymous since both require KYC to set up, but still fairly private since you don't have to disclose much about yourself.  There are anonymous ways you can exchange fiat for BTC, such as USPS money orders which are safe and don't require the use of real names (unless you're the recipient and want to deposit the MO digitally.)  The only truly anonymous ways to trade BTC for Fiat is face to face cash transactions, and there a few of those offers near and around my area.

This would be an argument for testing with a lightweight live Xcfe-based Linux environment that only uses 531MB ram, such as Mint.
I don't know why I have never think about this solution.

Probably as unless you're installing a new OS to a free partition, you'd be testing it in a Live environment, which isn't really ideal for long-term use imo. Ideally you'd have an external hard-drive you could install a lightweight Linux distro onto, then you wouldn't be running it Live each time. In summary, when there is a single high memory demanding software you want to run, then a specific OS isn't a bad idea.

What a dumbass I can be  :D

I wouldn't go quite that far to be honest! At least testing it with a Live Linux distro would answer the questions about your RAM, as to whether you have genuine hardware issues running the software or not...

Thank you for explaining the anonymity promoted by the platform.
Of course, there always has to be some sharing of information, but as you deal with other people directly, you are less exposed to information going to third parties.

I will install the application again and explore it further. And to realize in Europe how dynamic the platform is.

Payments with Amazon Gift Card, have you never used it or is it not common in your area? I remember seeing that option there, which I thought was interesting.

Yeah, and your personal data is only disclosed if you're trading BTC to fiat.  I like to swing trade BTC for XMR as a way to grow my BTC holdings, and of course there's no personal data shared during those transactions, only BTC and XMR addresses.

I will install the application again and explore it further. And to realize in Europe how dynamic the platform is.

You're sure to find a bunch of offers for Euros, I see many with payments in Revolut, Swift, and Wise, and I'm sure there are other payment types that I don't know about. I don't know for a fact, but I'd wager there are more offers for Euros than USD.

Payments with Amazon Gift Card, have you never used it or is it not common in your area? I remember seeing that option there, which I thought was interesting.

I've never used the gift card method myself, but they are common for USD as well as Euros, and yes I see many of them.

BISQ announced earlier today that they're soon going to implement the lightning network[1]. Maybe Bitcoin Ordinals is what we needed to push services to adopt LN.

That would be pretty cool.  I know they have the intent to implement lightning functions in BisqV2, but I wasn't sure about Bisq1.  I don't think Bisq1 would work for lightning to fiat due to the multi-sig "escrow" function, but lightning to on-chain would still be nice.

I've been using Bisq 1.9.12 for the last month or so, and I love the new clone offer feature.  It allows a maker to create one offer, but clone it to use different payment methods.  For example, if I want to sell some bitcoin, but I don't care if I'm paid via Zelle or Strike, I can create one offer for Zelle, submit my maker fee and security deposit, and publish the offer.  Then I can clone the Zelle offer and change the payment method to Stirke, and I want to set a different margin for Strike payments, I do that as well.  If I use a trigger, I can different prices set for the cloned offer also.  I don't need to submit another maker fee or security deposit, both offers share the same fees and security deposit.  When a peer takes one of the cloned offers, both offers are removed from the market.

This will help makers by allowing them to use one offer (and one security deposit,) but advertise it in two or more markets.

Some other improvements made to V1.9.12:

Improvements
Allow cloning offers (with different price, payment method, currency, and trigger price) while sharing its maker fees and security deposits
Don't process burningman accounting data by default
Speed up burningman and statistics view loads
Allow dispute agent to resend PeerOpenedDisputeMessage to non-resposive peer
Prefer Burningmen's custom receiver address
Burningman Accounting: Show total fees and total DPT
Remove Burningman activation code (1, 2)
Add gettransactions method to API
getoffers (API): Return all offers instead of the only ones with a matching accounts

Any idea

I wanted to open Bisq this morning. Since it was freezing the OS up to not be able to use the mouse cursor, I had no choice to "hard reboot"  Win10.

I restarded the OS so, then tried to relaunch Bisq and now it doesn't open.
Yet, if I check the task manager I see it running

https://i.ibb.co/X44jKTL/Capture-d-cran-2023-08-15-184447.png

I deleted Bisq, installed it again but it doesn't solve the problem.

Not much can be found on the web about such issue, but I have the same as below
https://bisq.community/t/bisq-fails-to-launch-windows-10-and-other-os/10769/3

I checked the bisq.properties and it already has the “bannedSeedNodes=”

edit

Many thanks
I forgot to visit C:\Users\<me>\AppData\Roaming\Bisq

Hmm, never had any issues like that myself, and I use Windows also.

First things first: make sure to back up the "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Bisq\btc_mainnet" directory.  That's where all your critical information like payment accounts are stored.  Then uninstall bisq using the Control Panel > Programs and Features tool.  Then delete the whole directory where the bisq data lives, i.e. "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Bisq" and restart the machine.  When you reinstall bisq make sure to use the latest version, 1.9.12.  Older versions will no longer function since the latest upgrade.

After rebooting, then installing the new version, don't start bisq.  Copy the backup of the "btc_mainnet" directory back to it's original path, then start bisq.

Hello,
where can I find the 32bit version, the 64 bit doesnt run on my laptop?

Well, first of all you need to specify which OS you're intending to run Bisq on. Have a try and look at the source code (https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq). You should be able to compile it for your architecture.

Here on Bisq wiki you'll find everythind you need to download and install Bisq (https://bisq.wiki/Downloading_and_installing)

Be sure to check this Reddit thread (http://https://www.reddit.com/r/bisq/comments/g2zfx3/does_bisq_run_on_32bit_windows/?rdt=50133)  and this Bisq thread (https://bisq.community/t/windows-32-bit-executable-build/686) which is related to your question.

In all other cases hopefully @layer1gfx will jump into this thread and provide some helpful information which may or may not lead to a satisfying solution.

Wish you best of luck

There is no 32 bits version.
I remember it has been asked to the devs to build it, but with the lack of time (or something else) they prefered to not make it I think.

Bisq just released new beta version of Bisq2 exchange with lot of changes and improvements compared to well know old version.
They made Bisq2 from ground up with multiple trade protocols (Liquid, Multisig, Easy, Sumbarine Swaps, Lightning, Monero swaps...) and privacy is improved in new version.
Chat and support is now included in Bisq2, and multiple user profiles can be created in the same Bisq client with one Bisq node.
Find more details on their blog page and watch video explanation:
https://bisq.network/blog/bisq-2-now-in-beta/

Bisq2 Beta download page is available for Linux, MacOS and wind0ws, and for notifications they have Bisq mobile app (iOS and Android):

This is a huge upgrade, in my opinion.  Adding lightning functionality and submarine swaps will help maintain privacy also.  I plan to play around with it soon, learn the new features.  I'm looking forward to seeing it as the official release.

I agree, this is big change in positive direction fir Bisq, but we are going to have to wait a bit longer for submarine swaps and other protocols to be released.
Watch the video and you will see full Bisq2 roadmap, according to that I don't expect to see all protocols being integrated this year, but I could be wrong.
It's important to say that both Bisq1 and Bisq2 will still be active in the same time, until certain point when everyone will have to make a switch.
